The Surmeli (or smelly as we affectionately referred to it)is a huge 5 star hotel with no less than 4 swimming pools, restaurant, spa, shop etc and when we arrived in the early hours it surely looked luxurious and the desk staff seemed quite friendly.

Unfortunately from the next morning things started to unravel. I'm not a fussy person but was constantly disappointed by the little things we had paid good money to enjoy.

The indoor pool and jacuzzi were freezing.

The food was the same sour tasting stuff day in day out, the waiters were rude. The hotel manager joined out table at the bar one night and asked how we'd managed to make a booking as he didn't like the English and we were not welcome, then he laughed!!(most guests were Dutch)

In the 'convenience' store nothing was priced and I was charged around £9 for a packet of cigarettes one morning.

Also the restaurant was buzzing with flies which was disgusting. We were all inclusive but one night I politely asked the barman for a bloody Mary and was told as it's a cocktail I would have to pay. I said well can I please have vodka and tomato juice and was told they had none. I went 4 floors up to my room, returned with money and magically some juice turned up! He made my drink while muttering snidely in Turkish.

The good points were the outdoor pool area, clean private beach and watching the gorgeous sunsets from the balcony.

The hotel itself is spotlessly clean.

Also the Aqua Fantasy water park is just 5 mins walk away and you can catch a dolmus into town from the hotel car park.

Also there was a lovely lady serving breakfast omelette's one morning and her friendliness left me confused as it was certainly a first for the staff here!

We would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at the Tur hotel you made our holiday. This would of been the second time we have visited this hotel and have already booked again for May 2007 making it the third.

The hotel we found very clean and always a friendly atmosphere. We arrived early hours of the morning and the bar was always open for a drink before going to bed in the nice clean rooms over looking the swimming pool.

It was in a central location for us to visit our friends out there. We would highly recommend this hotel to take your next years holiday. Can't wait to go again.

When we arrived at the Hotel Tur, we were pleasantly surprised as we were not expecting much.

The Hotel is clean and friendly. As we were allocated an end room overlooking the pool our balcony was slightly bigger than the others (which are on the small side). The same with our room (other rooms were small).

The Maids cleaned everyday of our 2 weeks there. Towels were left in pretty designs with flower petals etc. Lovely touch!

The Hotel Staff are excellent, especially the Crazy Sexy Barber NORMAN. He massages, shaves, manicures, pedicures, face masks, cuts hair etc, for just a small price. Well worth it! He is hilarious, never a dull moment when Norman is about!

The hotel food is basic and we thought a little expensive, especially when you can get better down the road at Alberto's for half the price.

The hotel is ideally located, just a short walk to main nightlife. We walked everywhere, but there are 2 Taxi's outside 24/7.

We didn’t see any entertainment in the hotel, but I'm sure that's because there wasn't many kids.

Ny holiday wouldn't of been good without the Tur hotel!

The staff were fantastic especially Jimmy, all the lads made our holiday.

It is here that I met my boyfriend, who lives in Stoke-on-Trent, but since the holiday we talk two each other every night, so the holiday hold a lot of memories for me.

The location is great, not too far to Bar street, and all the great clubs, can I recommend Golden Oldies(it's fab)

I am booking another holiday here now as I speak.

FANTASTIC !!!!!!!

On arrival in the early hours, and on our first trip to Turkey, our immediate thoughts were.. oh my god, what have we done. After having some sleep and coming round to the Turkish weather.(90 degrees in September), we went for a walk, it took us about an hour to realise what lovely people they are and how friendly they are.

What you have to remember is.. it's Turkey, it's a very poor country, you have to see past all that and get to know them.

The hotel was very very clean, all staff friendly and can not do enough for you, would go again without a doubt.

We arrived at about 4:00am, the room was small but clean over looking the pool. The view was unexpected.

Breakfast was basic but pleasant.

Everybody seems to enjoy the hotel due to the staff.

The hotel was very central but out of the hustle and bustle.

I enjoyed my stay over the last week and I would visit Tur again.

Oh my god were do I start? We 4 girls arrived to this hotel in early hours of the morning & couldn’t believe our eyes. We stepped in front door to see old fashioned grim hotel, got our keys .... No-one to help with bags!!!

Went to old lift one at a time with luggage to be greeting with a rabbit hutch of a bedroom 2 beds. 1 bedside cabinet, 1 plug hanging off wall, bath room was grim also hole in floor, door wouldn’t shut, no head on shower, mirror covered in paint couldn’t see ourselves in mirror, & seeing as there was 1 mirror for 2 girls (not good.)

When the shower was turned on the bathroom was flooded. Beds were hard and the pillows were harder. Walls like paper could hear people going toilet & other things too.

Nightmare holiday from start to finish never again. This hotel needs a complete revamp from top to toe ..... By the way I'm from Liverpool so not posh or stuck up at all just horrified to what we turned up too.

Me, my mum and dad have visited the Tur on a number of occasions and everytime it has breen brilliant! I cant praise the manager and the staff enough they are great.

There was great entertainment nights which we always ended up in the pool obviously Elvis-Norman went in first but after that it was great! There was such a friendly atmosphere in the hotel from day to night and again every day.

We loved the stay in the Tur and will be visiting again next July! Cant wait!

When I got to the TUR at first, I was a little worried - but after the first day absolutely loved it. It’s small, friendly and extremely clean.

I had read a review from July 2004 that said there were ants everywhere, but when we stayed it didn’t seem to be like that, apart from the odd ant there was nothing any different from other Hotels. It is just part of going to Turkey. Some peoples expectations are too high

Staff were great, rooms although basic were clean, and towels were changed daily.

If there is a criticism it is the rooms are very basic and small but that’s nothing to worry about - as all you do is sleep there ... When I go back to Kusadasi - I wouldn’t even consider looking for another hotel

Due to the welcome and atmosphere of the TUR and staff - they make the hotel a truly wonderful place - if a little batty sometimes it reminded me of a Turkish version of Fawlty Towers! Just because of the personalities and the informality of the place. I laughed a lot when I stayed there. It has a real family run feel about the place

I do remember that you were not allowed to take drink or food to your room unless it was purchased from the hotel, but the food and drink was cheap and available 24 hrs that this was not a problem. - I have stayed in other hotels with the same rules

The rooms are basic, small - not much furniture but above all clean and kept in a high state of repair

Don’t expect much from the breakfast - it is bread cheese and cucumber a typical Turkish/continental breakfast - not English breakfast although this can be ordered for separately and paid for Hotel is right next to a mosque and the call to prayer is very evocative and romantic it make you really feel like you are in a foreign country and sounds beautiful
