| said: This was our fourth visit to Hotel Anastasia and it was by far the best yet. Michael and the staff epiomise how a hotel should be run. To say that they are friendly would be typical british understatement.
The Hotel is always clean, the food is fantastic. The location is ideal as it is far enough away to feel secluded and close enough to reach all the resorts amenities.
The Hotels biggest asset is undoubtably its staff. Plans are now underway for next years visit.

| said: This was the best hotel I have ever stayed in. I felt like at home. I got everything what i needed and had unforgetable vacations ever.
It was really good value although it is 3+ star hotel, i would give 4 at least.. The Hotel is situated in very nice place with the hills behind and sea ahead. The staff was very friendly and were allways ready to help us in all the ways. The master Mixalis is the best manager in the world lucky to have him in the best hotel in Greece, because he can solve any problem, is very professional, polite and helpfull all the time. The hotel is very clean and nice with gardens everywhere, the food was very tasty and variable. There were great and FREE shows every evening like Dancing Girls, Mistic Men, Karaoke, Greek Night and others. The sleep quality was perfect as the rooms have good isolation from any noise.
I know now the Hotel to stay in, once on the island of Crete. I would definately come back again !
I recommend Anastasia Hotel for everyone who wants to have unforgetable vacations, no doubt....

| said: We arrived at the hotel late, after the restaurant had closed, but because we were staying half board, the hotel had kindly prepared a meal for us, to enjoy before showing us to our room. The evening receptionist showed us to our room, and carried our cases.
The hotel has two adult pools plus a childrens pool, with plenty of sunloungers available.
Food was good, and there was usually enough choice for everyone. Sunday there is a BBQ also.
All staff were really friendly and hard working, especially Maria who worked in the evening.
The rooms were spacious. There are a number of buildings that make up the hotel, built at different times, so the layouts and sizes can vary. The maids were in every day, with towels and linen changed twice a week. The hotel throughout is kept very clean by team of cleaners and Alexis the handyman, with his red t-shirt!
Michael the owner is always on hand to help out staff. Will walk around and chat to everyone, very friendly but not over the top.
The hotel is 5-10mins to main resort of Stalis, via underpass, which saves you crossing the busy main road.
All in all, a lovely friendly hotel, and would recommend it.

| said: Our 3rd visit to our friends at the Anastasia. A hotel that just keeps getting better. The room we had was just superb and when our daughter arrived the week after she was next door. The hotel in every part is kept spotlessly clean and the decor is always being freshened up by Alexis the gardener/handyman. Michael and his staff make you so very welcome, without being over the top. You can come to this hotel and just relax, everything is hassle free. Each room has a fridge, and air conditioning free of charge.(Compare that) You can hire a kettle for a small fee and they will give you cups and spoons to go with it. A short walk to the pool bar and you can buy 6 bottles of water to start you off.
The facilities are great for a small family hotel. There is also an iron available if you need to take the travel creases out of your clothes.
There is 4 pools, masses of sunbeds, and you can hire mats for them.
The hotel is close to a main road, but there is a service road, trees and barriers in between. Also, as has been mentioned, there is an underpass to get to the other side and down to the resort proper. You are about 10 - 15 mins walk into Stalis resort centre. Beware of those establichments advertising a Big Beer for 2 euro. The big beer is not all it seems, less than a half litre, sometimes watered down, or is made up of the slops that accumulate when pouring. Not all bars, but some.
Entertainment is low key and unobtrusive. Although the Mystic men, Dancing girls and Greek nights are a must see.
The food is of a high standard, plentyfull, well cooked, and varied. You can quite easily have something different each night of a 2 week holiday.
Breakfast for me is always the best meal of the day, and there is a great choice. The bacon most certainly doesnt look like Ayrshire best, but is very tasty. Someone in a previous post said it looked like parma ham, but didnt say how it tasted. It tastes great.
This chef excels himself with is sweets!
The drinks at the bar are competitive, and are the real mccoy. Not like some of the bars I have mentioned.
If you are considering this hotel, visit all the Holiday truth type sites. I guarantee that at least 90% or more of those asked would rate this hotel as very good. There are more than a few guests that come back here repeatedly, and they dont do that for nothing.Ask yourself why this is?
Also compare the price of your holiday with a comparable rated hotel in Spain and you will see excellent value for money in the Anastasia.
Would I recommend this hotel....see you next year.

There was 2 big pools and 2 childrens we tended to go to the one near the mini golf. There was still some people that felt that they had to reserve a sun bed with towels (how sad) Would recomend you give it a try.

The hotel is spotless, the staff are amazing and the food was suitable for all tastes (if a hotel can please my hubby the're on a winner!). We stayed for 2 weeks and there were different dishes every day. The accomodation was roomy and the grounds beautifully kept (don't think the gardner ever sleeps!) All in all a fab holiday and will definately be coming back.

| said: This Hotel is the best hotel we have stayed in for ticking all the boxes and we have travelled all over Europe and USA.
I don't even know how to start as everything about this Hotel is perfect, the staff can't be any better, they are not just smiling because they have to they really go out of there way to make your holiday special. The food...is gorgeous each evening there was every type of salad and cold pasta dish you could wish for, the soup was gorgeous and the main meals consisted of (hot unlike may hotels that serve luke warm foods) a Greek dish, an Italian dish, 2 meat dishes, 1 fish dish, and a couple of choices of English type foods like chicken nuggets, Fish fingers etc. All of that had Veg, pasta, fries and potatoes. There is a BBQ 1 night in the week and once again the quality was of a high standard. Desserts where available each eve and although I never had any my Husband said they where delicious. Well done to the Chefs that Michael employs.
As for the Entertainment the holiday is advertised as having family style entertainment and in my opinion that is what we all got, there was a games eve, quiz night, kareoke (which Michael the manager even has a go at) a films night inc BBQ and an outside entertainment eve for e.g The Mystic Men was on the first week and a group of Greek dancers that where really good and got the croud involved was the second Saturday. What more would a family want?. The area is very safe, we went in to Stalis on a quite a few evenings and never worried about coming home for fear of the area being dark or deserted!! it is 5-10 mins walk to the beach and main beach road and if you go under the underpass, turn left and walk about 100 yards you will see black gates (not the first set) this is the Knossos Hotel, cut through there and its even quicker to the main area of Stalis. It is absolutly fine the area is in a perfect location for familys, couples and even elderley people (there was a number of all types of persons there).
The garden areas of the hotel are beautiful, the pools are cleaned all the time, the maids are lovely and keep the rooms spotlessly clean, the bar area is pleasant and the dining is inside or out and once again could not be kept any cleaner, a lot of hotels have very boring food courts but this is just lovely to sit outside and look over the pool areas with lovely flowers around...well done to staff...loved Vana and Maria what lovely people xx.
The music around the pool area is very good and not loud at all, the eve entertainment is finished by 12.30am and then its just low music and guests chatter and laughter (isn't that what we go away for?)
There is one member of Staff that I would have to praise and that is Diane, she is the hotel receptionist and nothing is too much trouble, I had a few enquiries before arrival and whilst there regarding my Daughter visiting and she was spot on with everything we needed..our Daughter came to stay a night and they accomodated her and her friend and let them have a meal with us in the Eve. I also was surprised that on the last day of our holiday guests that didn't go until the eve where welcomed for a meal at no extra cost...most hotels after check out at midday couldn't care less about you as the next guest is on the way to take your place... not the Anastasia...you are a valued customer and by the time you leave you are not just a guest you are a friend. You can keep your room on for 40 euros inc food until 6pm.
The bus stop is a very short walk and they are really comfortably air conditioned coaches that are every 30mins. We went to Hersonossis a few times it costs 1.40 euros each.
Daytrips we went on where Spinalonga Island with BBQ which I really recomend and Ancient Greece which again was good. We booked these trips through the reps but it can prob be done cheaper elsewhere, we just wanted to make sure the company we booked with didn't just take our money and not turn up as some signs in the town warn you of this.
Well to sum up this hotel I would say it was perfect, and have already booked to go back next year. I have booked a room above the reception near the bar areas and have no worries about being disturbed as the double glazing is fine. Well done Michael and the gang, dont let anything change as the personal touch goes a long way to making this hotel so special, especially the personal send of that you try to give to all your guests, hugs hand shakes and high 5's go a long way xxxx

| said: This was our second visit to this hotel and we were amazed to find that it has improved from our inital visit. The Management and staff are amazing, the major difference with other hotels is that they are genuinely pleased to see you. Nothing is contrived or put on.
In Spain, the staff are mainly the product of hotel and tourist training, here in the Anastasia, staff are really warm and friendly people delivering a very high standard of care. They will go out of their way to help you.
We were allocated the same room as last year and there was a complimentary bottle of wine with two glasses, with a wee card saying welcome back. A really nice personal touch, which is the mark of the Anastasia.
There has been a change of personnel since we were last there, and it was most obvious with the food. There was always plenty of choice and I had great pleasure in trying something new almost every night.
The soups were terrific and we had a running joke with other guests as to whether it would be mushroom that night or not. Mushroom soup was a clear favourite.
It would be wrong and indeeed hard to pick out a special member of staff for praise as they all contribute to a great holiday. Just a pity Johan cannot sing (only joking).
This Hotel is rated 3 star, but it out-performs many 4 star hotels we have been to. It is the consumate family run Hotel. The Cretans are renowned for there hospitality and this hotel exemplifies this.
The grounds are beautifully kept and it was really enjoyable just to stroll round them. The Hotel is scrubbed from top to bottom, and daily we watched the cleaners start with the communal areas working towards the accommodation. There are 3 pools, and more than enough sunbeds for all guests. There is a kids club, ably run by Kayleigh. You can eat al- fresco or inside, whichever you prefer.
It is only a short walk to catch a bus in either direction. Although there is a main road close by you do not notice it, and there is a subway to allow you to cross to gain access to the resort itself.
Rooms are spread across several short blocks which is really appealing, you dont have that feeeling of living on top of eadh other that you sometimes get in other hotels. There are no lifts, so if you come to this hotel, contatc them before hand and request a low floor. Diane will tryt her best to fit your needs in.
Would we go back........... already doing our sums, with a view to same time next year.
If you do as we do and research a hotel before visiting. Dont hesitate to book here, you will not be disappointed.

The staff are very friendly and cheerful and they always have a smile and a chat every time you see them, they make you feel so welcome. Every area of the hotel is spotlessly clean. The food is great too, not a huge selection but there was always something for us to eat and it was very tasty. The location of the hotel is great, its away from the noise of the quad bikes but near enough to walk to the main restaurants, bars and beach. We cant single out any staff members as they are all excellent. We love this hotel and we are hoping to return in August.

Even joined in the Karaoke it was such good fun. The staff are brilliant. If you want you can walk down to Stallis or Malia which we did every night to walk off our evening meal but we always went back to the Hotel as it was so relaxing. We took our daughter and grandson last year and they loved it so much they want to go with us again! Highly recommended for a thoroughly enjoyable stay

| said: We have just returned in the past two days from the Anastasia Hotel. We were on a half board basis and found the food very plentiful, very tasty and the overall choice for both breakfast and dinner exceptionally good. Anyone not find something they liked even for children must be very picky ! Our room was on the ground floor in the new block quite near to the restaurant and pools , we found them to be very quiet , really clean and very roomy too.It was cleaned every day , the floor was washed every day .The very busy main road is crossed by an underpass which is so easy and safe . The beach and the main Stalis / Malia strips are reached by small walk of about 15 minutes. This gives the best of both worlds of busy nightlife and tranquility when you need it. The staff were absolutely fantastic, rightfrom the cleaners to the owner, all very attentive to your wishes, nothing at all was too much trouble. The owner Micheal just gets stuck in and helps out where ever he is needed and is very hard working , as are all the staff. The entertainment presented by Johnnie was terrific , games nights , kareoke , mr & mrs. Bingo with avery good cash prize, play your cards right, music quiz , newly released fims , BBQ night,a fantastic Greek night, which lasts about two and a half hours. All in all a fantastic holiday with great people and great hotel. Would I return - YES !! We have just booked our 14 days next September , Which says it all really, It's the best holiday we have had and enjoyed evry minute we were there .
As you can tell I can recommend the hotel without any doubt.

| said: This is a fabulous hotel, well laid out with beautiful gardens in between the various accommodation blocks. We stayed in a superior family room and had a great view of the sea and the pool areas. With 2 balconies we were rather spoiled. The main balcony had 4 comfy chairs and a small table and we spent many a night here with friends.
The staff at this hotel are brilliant, all of whom where very helpful and friendly, genuinely friendly so much so that it felt as if you were not a guest but a friend being welcomed into their home.
Diane in reception was exceptional, alsways ready with great advice about the resort and the island. It was as if she was telling someone for the first time, despite the fact that she must repeat herself endlessly throughout the season.
Maria, in the restuarant works like a tornado and tony and manolis in the bar are also great. It is unfair really to single out these people as all the staff are really very good, including the cleaners who kept the whole place spotless.
The Hotel is very well laid out with a main building and several other buildings situated around it. In between are lovely gardens, there are 3 pools and plenty of sunbeds. In fact there are more sunbeds than guests. the drinks are competive;ly prioced as is the food at lunchtime.
It is situated about 15 minutes from the main resort centre of Stalis and about the same to the resort of Malia.
There a bus stops going in each direction within 3 minutes walk of the hotel.
The views we had from our balcony were superb.
The entertainemnt was rather low key, Monday Quiz, Tuesday kareoke, Wednesday Bingo, Thursday Mr and mrs etc, Friday Music Quiz. saturday free, There is a Cretan Dance Night once a fortnight. pretty low key compared to Spain but great fun nonetheless.

The location was great as it was only a short 5 minute walk from the main bars and restuarants. The staff are hard working and very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The entertainment was great with plenty to do for all ages. The greek night seemed to be the most popular. We have booked to return in May 2009 and cannot wait. As the hotel is not on the main strip it doesn't have the noise from the quad bikes which is great.

| said: When we first arrived at the hotel we were a bit disappointed as on entering one of our rooms we found it wasn't ready....the bed had been slept in and the toilet was dirty. On complaining the management rectified the problem within a short space of time and apologised for any inconvenience caused. The only other problem was that the other room we had didn't have any hot water. But again within 20 minutes this had also been sorted for us.
The rooms in the hotel were adequate, they had a fridge and air conditioning which are both must haves and we weren't charged extra for the privilege either.
The rooms were visited everyday by the maids, the towels and bedding were changed very regularly too.
The food was great considering its not a massive hotel there was a vast choice of meals to be had. There was something to cater for everybody's needs.
The location of the hotel is good as it is well enough away from the main strip but only a 5-10minute walk if you wanted to get to the main street.
The hotel staff were all fantastic, they are a credit to the hotel. The owner, Mikalis, is always around and is not scared of mucking in with the other staff members.
The entertainment was great. It is not 'in your face'. If you want to join in you can but you are not pressured to. Every night threre is something different on from Quizzes to bingo and even a quiet night when a film is shown. The entertainment co-ordinator - Johnny - is fantastic. He operates the kids club which is on 11-1 and 4-6. The kids all adore him. The only thing with the club is that you have to pay for it. It 2.50 euros per session. Not a lot but when you are paying twice a day for 2 children it can become quite costly.
I would definitely visit this hotel again. It is a family run hotel and this shows through the excellent service and hospitality we received.

The cleanliness is second to none, the food which was plentiful was delicious, would have preferred a bit nearer to beach but you cant have it all. The staff are all very hardworking and nothing is a problem especially Kostas in the restaurant !! The entertainment was low key and apart from a Sunday night (BBQ night) there is always something on. Johnny who runs the hotel kiddies club organises all the evening entertainment and is a wee star, the kids absolutely adore him, he always has a smile on his face. And yes we probably will visit this hotel again, we are only back 3 days and our 11 year old son is begging us to book again for next summer !! We also met lots of lovely people who were return visitors to this little gem and we know why !!!

The hotel is in a quiet part of Stalis but it is just a 5 minute walk into the main street or a 10 minute walk to Malia.
The hotel is really clean & the staff are all lovely, nothing was too much bother. The bed linen was changed 3 times a week & the towels was the same.
There was always sun loungers, so no need for placing your towel on to reserve 1, there is 3 pools which were all cleaned daily.
The food was really nice & there was always plenty for everyone, there was lots to choose from.
The entertainment was ok the best night was Karaoke night it was great fun & everyone seemed to enjoy it.
We would definitely return to the anastasia again, have already been pricing it for next year.
We met some wonderful people there who we will definitely be keeping in contact with!!!!

There is a wide variety of freshly prepared food to suit all tastes lots of choice for breakfast and evening meals, anyone not finding something to their taste must be really picky. A new swimming pool as just been added making more choice for everyone, plenty of sunbeds and plenty of space around the pool bar where prices for snacks and drinks are very reasonable, just booked to return in october and would reccomend Anastasia to anyone who wants a nice relaxing holiday with everything to hand you could need

| said: We choose the Anastasia because of the reviews given and were not disapointed.
On arrival you are greeted by a friendly receptionist and are shown to your room by a member of staff not just given keys and a map.As we had arrived after the restaurant finishing time, a cold buffet meal had been prepared and left for us to eat when we were ready.
The staff at this hotel have to be some of the most helpful, polite and friendly we have ever met.Within a couple of days we had struck up good rapour with all and were always greeted with a smile and friendly conversation.Remember to attempt some basic Greek and they open up to you even more.
The food in the restaurant is plentiful but does not cater too much towards those who only enjoy British cooking. You have to be able to try different dishes, but there was always a large selection of salads to fall back on if the main dish selection is not to your taste.
The hotel grounds are kept very clean and with a gardener looking after all the shrubs, the area is very pleasant to walk through. The maids clean the pool and bar area each day before cleaning the rooms and make an excellent job of all.The pool is a good size and was never overloaded during our stay.At 17m long you are able to get a good swim, and there is a smaller pool for todlers a few meters away.Entertainment was tailored more towards the British guests, and was fairly basic but it gave you a good laugh if you were willing to get involved.
We opted for the bigger family room which had two sinle beds and a double and appreciated the extra room. Air conditioning and a fridge are provided at no extra cost which is a great bonus( this was a first as it's normally something else you need to pay for on arrival). The bathroom also had a hairdrier provided as standard.
This has to be the first hotel we have said we would go straight back for a second holiday without any hesitation, and it was mainly due to the friendliness of the staff.

reason i would never return to Crete this is in no way a reflection on the hotel that was excellent.

| said: Fantastic Holiday Location for Families. This hotel was clean, welcoming, friendly, great for kids, with great food and great staff.
The rooms were large by standards we have seen elsewhere. We can't praise this hotel enough. Brothers Billy and Michael (Watch out for their karaoke performance) run the place (and their family and children are often on hand and enjoying the facilities) with their fantastic team of staff (especially the waiting staff) make sure your holiday was perfect.
A small complex of about 60 rooms, just a 10 minute walk to the resort and beach via an underpass which ran under the main road.
The whole place is washed down daily and is spotlessly clean as are your rooms which are cleaned on a daily basis.
There is no noise from surrounding hotels just some from the road when poolside, but cannot be heard from the rooms. Bus stops are close by and we took regular trips on the local buses which are cheap and efficient, most of the conductors spoke sufficient English to get by, but remember to buy your tickets from the office if you start at the bus station.
We went half board and the food was varied and plentiful. Everyone soaked up the friendly atmosphere. The Entertainment run by the excellent John from Leicester (previously seen on X-Factor) was low key but there was something on most nights e.g. bingo, quiz nights, karaoke.
The complex was safe for kids to roam and make friends leaving parents to sit, relax and enjoy.

The food is excellent with plenty to choose from at both breakfast and the evening meal. Very attractivly presented.
A great location, near enough the resort centre without having any noise during the evening.
The staff are all great and can't do enough for you. The owners are always available and join in the entertainment.

The rooms are spacious and clean-daily. They have a useful fridge, air conditioning and plenty of hangers! There is a safe deposite box in every room (fee charge-well worth paying for).
The pools are clean and very nice with a small childs pool and a larger pool. The sunbeds are free.
The food is exceptional with a very varied choice. It is a buffet self service. They have a barbacue night once a week which also has a very varied choice of food.
The entertainment is good and is on most nights - the best night being the Greek night. The Greek night was very profestional and great fun.
The staff are very friendly both staff and managment. There is a kids club which is very well run.
I hope to go back to this Hotel in the not too distant future. A1 Hotel.

| said: We have just returned from the Hotel Anastasia and whatever I could write in this reveiw would not do the hotel justice.
From the moment we arrived untill we left there was not one single thing to complain about.
Our flight had been delayed nearly 2 hours so it was quite late at night when we arrived. We were SHOWN to our room which was very spacious and spotless. Then told that as we were we had been saved a cold plate meal, which we thought was very thoughtful.
The staff in the hotel are very friendly they all love children.
Most nights we were there we had entertainment in the hotel. Quiz nights, Bingo, a barb a que night, kareoke and a disco night with a dj and wide range of music including Greek. There was a nice bar that was very reasonably priced.
There is a 24 hour mini market which is run from vending machines you can buy cold drinks, water toys, crips, chocolate, paracetamol etc all at good prices.
The food was excellent. Top quality, well cooked very attractivly presented every day. There was always lots of different choises to suit every one loads of fresh salad, veg and fruit. There was lots of Greek food on offer too for example gyros, mousaka etc. The meals could be eaten outside in the sun or in the shade.
The room was cleaned every day any towels that had been used were replaced every day. You get a fridge for keeping drinks etc in and airconditioning is included in the holiday price.
The pool area is very attractive and clean, plenty of sun beds and a lovely safe pool for little ones our little boy loved it.
The gardens are beautiful too. The hotel is situated in a conveinient area for both Stalis and Malia but far enough away to be very peaceful and relaxing. You do need to cross a busy road to get to the resort centres or beach but there is an under pass which makes it very safe to get across.
If you are considering this hotel for your holiday, book it, give yourself a treat you will not be dissa pointed.

The hotel grounds are very nice and well kept, the swimming pool was cleaned everyday and immaculate.t
Te food was wonderful and lots of choices for everyone to enjoy, the hotel also catered for the young ones, chips, chicken nuggets, burgers, pizzas, ice cream and jelly, fresh fruit.
The adults are well looked after too, you have alot of choices, moussaka, roast chicken, pork, veal, beef, salmon, perch, potatoes, plenty of different salads etc, etc!!!!
The breakfast was the usual bacon, eggs, sausage, omlettes, cereals, fruit also some tasty cake that the wife and I sampled a few times!!
The hotel owners Billy and Michael are brothers who are brilliant fun they make sure every guest is looked after.
Billy myself and my friend simon had a few ouzos and mythos one day we were a bit drunk and our wives sent us for lie down to recover from our afternoon session, which was a hard thing to do?
Even billy had to catch forty winks cos he was on restaraunt duty that evening!!
Anyway the hotel staff are all superb, manos, manolis great bar men, maria and evi wonderful waitresses, and billy's brother in law manos who ran the mini supermarket he was a star what a top lad he is!!
If you want a laid back hotel which is central to the resorts of Stalis and Malia with great food and entertainment and superb staff and ammenities then look no further then the hotel Anastasia, I'm off now i've typed so much my fingers are sore!! But we will be back there very soon!!!

This is a lovely family run hotel which suits people of all ages. Run by Michael and Billy, the friendliest, most caring hotel proprietors I have ever met. They join in just about everything from karaoke to bingo. All the staff are brill,Manos and Manolis on the bar,Maria and Evie the two lovely waitresses.
Nothing is too much trouble for them. Not forgetting the best reception staff ever Nicky and Manolis.Who could forget Manos junior and his obsession with Panathinikos which he lets you know about every day in the mini market,a lovely guy.
This is the cleanest hotel I've ever been to,your rooms are cleaned every day, even on the busiest change over days. The pool is lovely and the facilities available for children are great. This year we saw the addition of mini golf. The kids club is fab and at two euros for two and a half hours is good value. My little one goes every day.The gardens are beautiful, full of the brightest blooms, even in the heat of August.
Food is wonderful and you can eat as little or as much as you like.Plenty for the kids to choose from as well.Lots of salads, hot food and great desserts.Lunch is available and there is a wide lunch menu to choose from.Excellent value for money.
Situated in a nice area away from the main resort centre so you can chill out in peace.Short walk to lots of nightlife if you want it.
When we arrived this year it was in the middle of the night but we still received the warmest of welcomes. Also had a bottle of wine and card welcoming us back from Michael.Eveyone remembers you and greets you with the typical Greek warmness.
We have made some wonderful friends in Michael,Billy, their families and the staff. We have also made some great English freinds who we now meet there at the same time each year.
I can't recommend this hotel enough. There is nowhere else to match it. Go there if you want a relaxing holiday, clean hotel, friendly staff and good facilities for the little ones.
A little piece of heaven on earth!!!!

All management and staff are very helpful and friendly, very clean inside and out, food very good with plenty of choice.
Pool area very clean and if the sunbeds were running short the staff would soon put more out, also plenty of umbrellas to shade under when it got very hot.
Low key entertainment but it was nice to relax and chat to other people and met some nice people. Karaoke on a Monday was a good laugh and Greek dancers every other Saturday.
If you wanted to go into town it was only 5 minutes walk to the nearest shops, bars etc but the hotel bar was cheaper. It was a good walk if you wanted the beach but a couple of people got burnt off the sand and sea breeze whilst we were there so be very careful.

It is a short walk away from the town but about 10 minutes away from the beach. It is a small hotel, but very friendly. The entertainment could be better, theres kareoke every monday, bingo and a quiz night during the week and a greek night once every 2 weeks.
The food is delicious, it made me try somthing new every night, there was a barbeque every sunday were you could try some of the local dishes. This is a great hotel with a lovely laid back attitude, but if you had a problem it would get sorted in minutes! Since it was such a small hotel you got to know everyone in it,the bar staff are amazing(Manolis and Manos) and the waitresses(Maria & Evi) are lovely!! When you go here you never want to leave, its just so laid back and time really does seem to slow down.
This is a really good hotel, I would definitley recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet(ish) laid back hotel, I'm even trying to persuade my mum and dad to go back!

The hotel grounds and rooms were spotless and we were amazed that less than 48 hours before we arrived they had had torrential rain! there wasnt a trace of it!! This a family run hotel with Billie and Michael at the helm and it shows that is their baby. They own it not just manage it.
It is a quiet low key hotel andd there was never a need to run to the pool at 5am to bag a sun bed! There were plenty to go around and loads of space around the two pools.
The food was good with plenty of choice and the bar and shop prices were very good.. they didnt try to rip you off at all.
The entertainment was low key but this was just what we were looking for. All the staff were brilliant with maria and manos espacially nice... thanks guys!
We wanted a quiet low key relaxing break and we certainly found it at the Anastacia. I have no doubt that we will return ( as had 80% of the people we met on our week there!)and would recommend it ... but not to 18 - 30 type people... you would be climbing the walls! A spot on trip.

| said: This was our first visit to Crete and the journey from Heraklion airport and dropping other parties off didn't inspire much confidence, things seemed very basic.
When we arrived at the entrance to the Anastasia we were not too sure what to expect. What a wonderful suprise, from the moment we got there until the time we left we couldn't find fault with a thing, and believe me we're a fussy lot.
We had 2 family rooms next to each other. The rooms are in blocks of four or six around the grounds which are picturesque - we didn't know how they grew such colouful pretty flowers in that heat! Back to the rooms, ours had plenty of room for 4 beds with space to spare, a welcome fridge to keep the aftersun cool (and the Mythos)air conditioning, a TV (charge for remote control)which we didn't need to use, as theres sky TV in the garden. A big enough bathroom with plenty of hot water. The rooms were thoroughly cleaned everyday, clean towels every other day.
Around the room areas were also very clean, especially around the lovely large swimming pool. Plenty of sunloungers and spotless water in the pools, also a childrens pool.
We ate breakfast and evening meal outside under the taverna, adjacent to the restaurant. Really good choice for breakfast always something you liked - from cereals, Greek yoghurt and honey, fresh fruit, continental cheese and salami's to hot dishes, a mix of English and Greek, toast, cake, tea coffee chocolate fruit juices etc.
Evening meal could have been 5 courses if you wanted. Loads of salads, always nice soup, a pasta dish, choice of two meat and a fish dish, veg also chips and pizza or fish fingers, nuggets etc for the kids. Not an awful lot of choice for dessert but what there was tasted lovely, plus melon and fresh fruit. Good value house wine.
Our waiter Manilos and waitress Maria really looked after us with a smile and nothing was too much trouble.
Snack lunches from the pool bar were tasty and good value. There was a BBQ greek evening once a week that was lovely.
The hotel is Located near the very busy dual carriageway,( though noise is not a problem) a little out of the resort of Stalis, which is reached by an underpass directly outside the hotel. Possibly a five minute walk to the beach road and the nearest shops, restuarants and supermarkets. A good 30 minute stroll left to the centre of Stalis and right to centre of Malia.
From the moment we arrived the hotel staff / management could not do enough to make your stay more enjoyable. Thanks to Michael and Billy and all the hotel staff
Entertainment is pretty low key and laid back, but that's what we liked. Lisa organised bingo or a quiz and the occasional karaoke, which is not our usual thing but was just like a family party, with the staff, Michael and Billy joining in. It was almost a requirement to sing badly and everyone got a big cheer if they took part. The childrens club was excellent, our two age 9 and 5 really enjoyed mask making and painting in the air conditioned play room, very well orgainsed thank-you Lisa you made their holiday.
We have never spent so much time around a hotel - we had such a relaxing time. Dont go if you want non stop going on, or plenty of entertaiment in your face etc,But if you like low key, home from home, understated, relaxing with excellent service we would definately recommend you stay at the Anastasia. We're hoping to go again ( soon )
