| said: This was our sixth time to Turkey but our first time in altinkum. On our arrival at Esra apartments we were delighted by the reception staff, the check in was plain sailing with no hanging around. When we booked we did request a pool view and was lucky enough to get one. Our room was on the ground floor ideal as we have two children both under 10 so i didn't have to worry about the balcony height. The room was more than adequate for my family we had a cubicle shower (Nice) and a separate bedroom with a double bed. The only thing that i had an issue with is the fact that if you want the air con it was another £30 per week. The pools were all very clean and the slides are just as much fun for the adults as for the children. All the staff will bend over backwards to ensure that your holiday is as relaxing as possible and nothing no matter how big or small was an issue. One of the waiters (JJ) Comes round the pool during the day to get you involved in a couple of games Water polo that sort of thing all good fun. We stayed in for most of the second week due to me not feeling so good and ending up in Hospital when we got home but that’s another story. The evenings was very pleasant with something different every nigh ranging from bbq nights to Turkish nights and the waiters are all amazingly fit as they never stop dancing. To finish off i would highly recommend this hotel to any one as we all had a great time and will be going back there next year.

| said: Just arrived back from the Esra today. This was our second visit to this hotel and our 4th to this resort. The appartment was basic but clean and very spacious.
Be prepared to get up early for your sun loungers we complain about the Germans you should see the English. Rightly so the staff should take the towels off the beds before nine it was embarrassing just to watch them then like ants at nine. Some people reserving upto 8 beds.
The staff work very hard and nothing is too much trouble. We went to the Esra Night which offered a good entertaining evening. Although the food on that particular night was not as stated by staff. The belly dancer we have seen better but all in all well worth one night of your hols.
My two young children loved the water slides. But mind around the pool area it is very very slippy at both pools. Seen some nasty falls whilst we were there.
The bar area is a nice area to sit back and relax with your favourite drinks.
Its not too far out the town a nice stroll or catch a dolmus for pence.
All in all a good location and hotel to stay in. Enjoy.

The hotel food was ok, but the margarita pizza's were the only thing that the children would eat as the rest of the menu was for adults. The hotel's location was great, was just about a 5 minute walk from the promanade, full of resturaunts and bars. The entertainment in the hotel was not great at all, the put on a bulgarian nite twice a week, but the dancers done the same thing over and over again. The hotel's staff were extremely ignorant, when serving the food, they threw your dinner at you, there was maybe 2 staff that were willing to help, who were Val and another guy, didnt catch his name. Me and my family would not visit this hotel again.

| said: Just arrived back from the Esra having really enjoyed it.
The apartment was quite big enough and we were all really impressed by the size of the shower, the maids however need to learn their jobs properly as most of the time they would come in and make the beds but then leave a dirty towel on the pillow, countless times they seemed to have forgotten to mop anywhere in the apartment and on one occasion I actually saw them in another apartment that was occupied and believe it or not they were trying on the occupants clothes.
The waiters work very hard and are always up-beat. Our turkish bath which was done by Jon was great and Mhemet was very nice to.
The food in the hotel was good and quite reasonable in price. The entertainment was ok but a little repetetive, I mean my family and I enjoyed the street dancers but hey they were there on most of the major entertaiment nights and the belly dancer was chronic, insisting that men tip her even if they had been unhappy and didn't think that her act had been worth it, a couple of the male guests whilst we were there walked out in disgust after being shamed by hotel staff into putting £10 into her bra.
one morning I had put the towels on the sun lounger at nine am and then went for breakfast up in the room but when I came back they had been taken off by one of the staff. I explained the rules as I had been told, which were, after nine you are able to reserve beds and then you have until ten to have breakfast, I had arrived back by 9.37 and they had gone!!!! After me complaining one of the waiters got really funny and his attitude continued for the remainder of our stay, certain waiters had stopped asking use if we alright or if we wanted anything. I found this upsetting as we had every morning except this one eaten within the hotel and experienced reasonable and friendly service from most.
The location is good. Lots to do and loads of eating places, in and around Dolphin Square. The best that we found for quality, quantity, service and reasonable
price was a restraunt called Funda absolutley fab and was the food was the best tasting in all our stay in Altinkum.
Oh yes and finally the beach gets packed and take my advise and use the free courtesy cars that are offered by all the resteraunts in Dolphin Square they are well worth the agro of being stopped and given a card by all of the people touting for your business, Just keep every one your given and then you can choose where to eat before you even step foot outside of the apartments, reception will ring for you a free car, which we found extremely handy.
Despite some of the comments I have made we as a family have all said we would return to the Esra.

Snacks from the resturant are good and fairly cheap so are the drinks but the on site shop is expensive go across the road next to the sky bar, entertainment ok but watch out for the belly dancer she comes round at the end and expects you to put money in her bra, no entertainment on during the day slides are good pool clean but very slippy to walk round town is only a 5 min dolmus ride away as many fakes as you can think of and loads of places to eat very cheap can reconmend the family door up the street from nigels good sunday dinner say hello to sam is the cap ok.

I was a bit nervous about travelling with four of my daughters - but I shouldn't have been - the Turkish people are so friendly (takes a bit to getting used to!!) The staff from reception, the entertainers, the lady in the gift shop (sorry can't remember her name) and the cleaners were very very nice. Made you feel like you were part of their family. I have said that we maybe back next year (like to try different places - however seriously thinking about going back - not mentioned to kids yet!! and if we do I will have a Turkish bath!!!!!). People who made a difference to our holiday are Edee, Michael, Mikael(Michaela hopes you are looking after her towel!), and a wee hello to Memet!!
It was lovely that some of the staff came out to wave us goodbye - swayed our decision about going back *(if we do go back to Turkey it will be to the Esra)

I would like to say a big thank you to Eddie, Alex and Sam for making our holiday the best we have had. The hairdressing staff where great to had my hair done a few times and it was lovely.
Hubby had a Turkish bath with Memit he enjoy it and he was great. They will look after you like part of the family and not a German in site.
Dolphin square is where you will find the shops and pubs resturant etc. 10 min walk or 10 liar in a taxi
hagging was great fun and everyone was so friendly.

All the staff couldnt do enough for us especially, Simon, Ali, Moses(manager), Chris, reception staff, everyone was always making sure we were taken care of. We have kept in touch with the staff from last year and were very happy to see us again this year but sad to see us leave again.
We are definitely going back again and again.. Anyone who goes to this hotel is sure to get what they require. FANTASTIC!

| said: The Esra is in a quite area ideal for a good nights sleep Dolmus bus just 2 mins walk away & 1 turkish lira into town.
The apartments was cleaned everyday Towels & beds change every 3 or 4 days.
The staff were always on the go they never seemed to sleep.
There was a Turkish night which we didn't go to. Had drinks on balcony & watched the entertainment from there & to be honest glad we didn't pay to go. The belly dancer was not very good I could have done better & I am 47. The waiters danced a lot also but they seemed to do the same moves to different records.
One day a week there was an offer of a £1 breakfast which many took up the offer.
One night a week from 8pm till 10pm it was buy 1 get 1 free on vodka.
Movie night also 1 night a week.
Must try the turkish bath. Heard bad reports about Mehmet the massage man He seemed generally upset when we told him what we read about him, he was a very nice bloke.
All in all a very good holiday & wish I was still there.

| said: The Esra is an excellent place to stay. This was our first visit to Turkey and we definitely chose well.
The hotel is spotlessly clean everywhere. Rooms are cleaned daily and all the public areas are kept very clean.
The staff are very helpful even when we arrived at 4.30am. They were friendly and courteous all the time we were there.
They work very long hours yet they are always smiling and happy to serve you.
The entertainment isn't to good. The only thing we considered worth the money was the 'Best of Esra' night. The food was plentiful (40 different mezes to choose from, kebab with chips, rice and salad and several puddings) and the entertainment was a little better than usual.
The rest of the week it was either Karaoke, kids disco or cinema night. The barbecue night wasn't worth it really, food not as plentiful and entertainment dire! The food at the hotel is good.
We ate a full English breakfast there every day and really enjoyed it. At £2.40 it was worth the money too. The location is okay, about 15 Min's from the beach and Dolphin Square if you want to walk but the dolmus goes past the end of the road every 5 Min's and is only 1Lira. It runs till about 1.30am.
All in all the Esra is an excellent place to stay. The 3 pools and the Aqua slide give you what you want if staying put is your thing and it's near enough to the beach if not.
I would definitely return here.

Staff couldn't do enough for you they worked very long hours but still managed to keep smiling all day and night.
Alex kept the bar open 24hrs a day so you could get refreshments at any time.
The slides were great for kids and us big kids as well but the only downfall was that they were only on 3 times a day for 1hour each time as they had to be maned up for safety.

The breakfasts were very nice, I did try a barbecue night (didn't think much of the food that night).
The apartments are approx 10 Min's from the town.
We found the staff very friendly, and helpful.
I found the entertainment not very good. But the dancing off the bar staff was much better than the booked entertainment.
The Esra has two swimming pools, one with slides. The down fall of the Esra is not enough sun beds.
We would go back to the Esra, and do recommend these apartments. We stayed in the middle block, top floor. We had a brilliant view, and the rooms had lots of space.
(The Esra is not the Hilton, but it is nice).

The management and staff were all very friendly and couldn't do enough to help you ( Ali, Ozzie, Chris, Alex to name just a few). The bar prices were cheap - £1.00 a pint!
Was good to have 3 pools as this meant plenty of room for everyone and the slides were an extra bonus. there were plenty of places to eat and drink and within walking distances. Our favourite being the Sky-bar were we watched England get knocked out of the world cup.
We can't knock the cleanliness of the hotel and we had no issues of noise levels as the management made sure all entertainment/music was turned off about midnight.
The location of the hotel was spot on, you could walk into dolphin square in about 10 mins or just jump on a dolmus bus which would set you back a whole lira (30p)no matter how far you went on the bus. Didim market is a must on a Saturday wow what an experience! very cheap and make sure you barter with them.

The Hotel food is excellent and reasonable prices. The Location of the hotel was great for us it wasnt right in the middle of the town and not too far out either. The staff are really friendly (too friendly sometimes with the younger single females). Reception staff are great too. Everyone in the hotel works VERY long hours but are always smiling. The BBQ and Esra night are good value for money and entertainment is good. The only downside is that the Kids club was closed last year. We would definetly recommend these apartments. The staff are brilliant, the rooms are very large.
The food in the restaurant was very good and not too expensive, in fact it was cheaper for some things than going into the town.
I would recommend these apartments to people with families but would just say that the slide view apartments are quieter than the big pool view ones. If you have small children I would say, ask for one of these apartments then you would get more sleep.
The staff can not do enough for everyone. They are the best. The manager was very good and if anyone had a complaint, usually about the noisy people who were there he tried his best to do something about it, nothing was too much trouble for him, if anyone is going to these apartments you can not help but enjoy yourselves.

| said: On arrival at the hotel we were very impressed by the size of the rooms, as a group of 4 we had paid a little extra to have two room so there was plenty of space. Rooms were very clean and there was always hot water in the showers, something I have never had in Turkey before! We had a big balcony with views over the pool and sea, however downfall of this is that the hotel bar is right below and the very loud music often went on until the early hours - this was at the end of Septmeber so I dread to think what it would have been like at high season!
The facilities at the hotel mean that you could never leave it all holiday, but they are very pricy!! A soft drink is more than a £1! Therefore we rarely bought anything in the hotel itself. There was definitely space around the 3 pools to sunbathe and I'm sure the water slides are great to keep kids entertained. The music around the pool was really loud all day - a whole day of non stop gangsta rap at full volume is enough to drive you crazy! because of this we found it more relaxing to make the short walk to the beach where there was peace and quiet.
After reading many reviews on this site before visiting i had expected great things of the staff, however i found them nowhere near as friendly as on previous trips to Turkey - probably because we weren't constantly buying drinks from them! When we did order the odd snack it would take ages for someone to come to our table and take the order and then it would be three quarter of an hour before it came. I can't really comment on entertainment as we went out most nights into town - much to the annoyance of the entertainment manager who questioned us every night as to why we weren't staying in the hotel to eat and have fun.
Overall I probably wouldn't come back to this hotel, but it did meet our needs for the holiday, its probably more family orientated I like somewhere quieter!

| said: We have just returned from our second visit to the Esra apartments and we had a great time.
The hotel was very clean, the maid seemed to come in most days to sweep up and empty the bins and the sheets were changed twice a week.
The staff are very friendly and make a big effort with the entertainment - Turkish night, BBQ night, bingo night, darts and pool competitions to name a few.
We did use the restaurant a few times even though we were self catering and we thought there was a big improvement on last year.
The hotel has four swimming pools - one has three water slides, a supermarket gift shop, hairdresser, tattooist, games room, TV room and it's own Turkish bath.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

| said: My two friends and I stayed at Esra during 4-12 Sept 2005. It was a fantastic place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone, couples, singles, families. I would like to go back.
There are four pools in total. One with three water slides, which was open and supervised about four times a day while we were there. One children's pool and two normal sized ones.
The facilities within these apartments are very good. There is a mini market, restaurant, pool bar, hairdresser, tennis courts, Turkish property office (if you fancied buying a place in the sun), games room which includes two pool tables and table tennis, TV room, safety deposit boxes, Turkish bath (including sauna, masseur and gym). My friend and I had a Turkish bath and it was very nice, it's ideal to have one as soon as you arrive as it exfoliates the skin ready for a fantastic tan! Word of warning to the ladies - watch out for Mehmet(the masseur), he is very pleasant and friendly round the pool but he may ask you out on a date whilst you're on the massage table!
The staff are what makes the holiday. They are so friendly (some a little too friendly though (Mustafer), if they think you are single!). The ones that stay in my mind are Charlie, Simon and Joseph. All can speak very good English and are always happy to help with anything. They do work very long hours though but they are constantly smiling and having fun.
We went to the BBQ and it was good value for money. It included the choice of three starters, then for the main meal you can choose from several different meats and kebabs (eat as much as you like), then selection of desserts. Once you've eaten, three of the staff started a dance show - Charlie is the best dancer! It was great, they get you all to join in, clapping as well as getting up and dancing with them. Bingo was included too but you had to pay for your Bingo strip of numbers. A professional photographer walks round and takes photos which are displayed in Reception the next day and are available to buy. I bought two!
We ate out every night apart from the BBQ night. We had breakfast every morning though by the pool. The Turkish breakfast was may favourite and good value for money. It includes a cup of tea, two slices of toast, boiled egg, cucumber, tomato and orange slices, olives, one or two cheeses, butter, honey and jam - yum! It really sets you up for the day and I didn't need to eat again until the evening.
The staff play music round the pool, usually from lunchtime. I liked this but they tended to play the same songs regularly, so I ended up getting to know the words! The pools are cleaned everyday and there are loads of free sunbeds and parasols.
The location of Esra was fine, its just a 10 or 15 minute stroll into Dolphin Square or you can catch a local bus for 1 Lira.
I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, the staff are superb, facilities are great and the weather was fantastic in September. I've already checked out prices for next year! If you get the chance, GO!

I went with my 2 kids (Jack and Brooke) and 3 of my bezzie mates--Shiv,Kel and Mel.
As usual all the staff make you feel really welcome. We have become very good friends with some of them over the years especially Jack (Shiv's bebek)and Burak and Selim(Automatic Picture Man!!) The others are all fab too--Ferhat, Alex, Joseph, Noddy (small shopkeeper man!) Charlie(Gypsy Boy!) Simon (head waiter), Simon(reception), Elvis, Ali, Miaow, OZZY!!!!!!!, JJ and Moses. If I've missed any of you it's because I didn't find out your name!
This is one of the best hotels in Altinkum. I have stayed at others and the standard of cleanliness entertainment etc is just not the same as Esra.
Hopefully, me and the girlie's will be back next year in June or July.

The food in the restuarant is divine and the town is not far to walk to get food either.
The pool areas are very nice to sit in and all the staff are very friendly and helpful.

| said: Supposedly one of the better hotels in the area. Clean and well maintained.
Disappointed that our 'sea or pool view' looked out onto the side street and straight at a building site the other side of the road. Site workers live and work on the job so when sitting on our balcony, we were in full view of them; every time we looked out, there they were gawping at us!
Good pool areas spoilt by the very loud music played by the hotel's daytime staff - they seemed more intersted in satisfying their musical tastes (and volume of it) rather than the guests.
Somedays you could not have a conversation due to the loud music and you certainly could not relax or sleep around the pool.
Hotel bar and shop quite expensive. BBQ not worth going to and don't know about the Turkish Night, we didn't attend due to other commitment.
All in all, not too bad - although that Thomson/Skytours flavour is somehow missing.

We were so impressed with the hotel we asked one of our friends to check with the manager for some rooms (who was more than happy to help) we moved almost immediately.
The staff are brilliant, so happy and helpful they work such long hours but nothing is to much trouble for them.
The full English breakfast is the best breakfast we have eaten in any foreign country. We ate lots of times in the restaurant and the food always came out hot and was freshly cooked.
The BBQ night and Turkish night are lots of fun for both adults and children we didn't have small children with us but the Turkish night has fun and games for young children.
I am already trying to book this hotel for October can't wait to go back.

| said: We stayed in the Esra Apartments for 2 weeks and apart from them being on the small side now that they have changed into one bedroom apartments, they are really nice, clean and as you would expect. The only down side was the extra £5.00 per day for air conditioning if you wanted it, we were on the ground floor so it wasn't safe sleeping with the balcony door open, so it can get quite expensive especially going away mid July.
The Maids came in every other day, and we always had running hot water.
The staff were really friendly chatting and making you feel welcome, Mehmet, Joseph, Jack, Charlie, Mustafer & Alex
The Entertainment was a BBQ on Tuesday evenings and 'Best of Esra Night' on Fridays, we did both the first week, but quite expensive and enjoyed eating out instead.
Pool clean but really slippy so kids be careful !!!!

The overall cleanliness of the whole apartment block was first class as it was spotless evrywhere you went.
We were self catering and we did not get round to having a meal in the restuarant but we did have quite a few snacks at the pool. the food was good and the tuna salad was excellent.
The staff were all pleasent and polite and nothing was to much bother for them and they worked really hard.
We didnt really take part in the entertainment as we had family in another hotel so we went out on the town every night but we saw it a couple of times from our balcony and it looked like it would have been good fun.
If I go back to Altinkum I would definately go back to the same apartments.

| said: I stayed in the Esra in October (17-24) and I found it absolutely brilliant! I was asked at the last minute to go and I was a little nervous about going to turkey after all the things I'd heard about it but I was wrong!!!
I was quite gutted when I found out we weren't all inclusive because I'd never been self-catering on holiday before! But you can still eat what you like from the restaurant when you like and it's lovely! It was very clean and there was plenty of room for the 6 of us!
The hotel was on a dusty track and we got quite dirty feet walking down! But it was still not far from dolphin square which is where all the fun is!
I loved the staff they were better than brilliant! Ozzy was cool coz he can't speak much English so he just agreed with everything!! Tony's lovely... Nothing else to say about him!! Ali and Mahmat are great they’re sooo friendly and always willing to talk to you! All the staff are there to your need when you like and emptying your ashtray and clearing your glasses all the time!
The huge TV with English sky is brilliant my friends and I watched a film in there one night and really enjoyed it! The disco night was very funny because the staff think they can dance!! Tony's full of himself so he's just great and the rest of the staff are great with everyone and they have got to be the friendliest people i've ever met!!
I'm defiantly going back next year with my own family! Thanks for reading this hope you visit soon because it's a great place!

The rooms were clean and spacious, the pool was cleaned every morning before anyone was allowed to go in - it was a bit slippery around the pool so be careful.
The staff were great especially Tony and Slim (photograph man) always cheerful even though they worked about 16 hours a day.
The bbq night was good with tasty food and great entertainment, we also enjoyed the Esra night with the folk dancers and belly dancer. There was also a pool competition every week, bingo nights with cash prizes, a kids disco, two pool tables and sky TV in the lounge, there was a great atmosphere every night.
Safety deposit boxes were available for £7.00 a week and air conditioning for £5.00 a day.
The Esra is located at the top of a hill about 10 mins out of the town at the bottom of the hill you come to Dolphin square where all the action is.

We wheeled the entire luggage in and straight away were greeted with hand shakes. We checked in and the staff took our luggage up and showed us how to us the key fobs. They were so friendly and chatty and their English was really good apart from Ozzy (who’s English wasn’t as good as the rest) he worked on the bar and just agreed and laughed with you(or at you).
The Staff were great. Tony was always smiling laughing and dancing. Ibo was great he had only worked there for a few months but had the best sense of humour going. James worked on the bar at night through to 8.00 in the morning. They did so many hours but always come back in smiling. We miss them all.
The hotel was situated about 10 minutes from Dolphin Square where there was a lot of entertainment.
We did not eat that often in the hotel restaurant but when we did the food was good. (Especially the English breakfasts)
We're already looking to go back this year and stay in the same place although we are trying to book in high season as we went in September last year and the entertainment in the hotel was not like I've read in high season. Mind you there was no need for any as the staff did enough to keep you entertained for life.

| said: Stayed at Esra in May and September of 2004. It is a really nice hotel and the staff are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble! The only problem I have is that the quality of the food has gone "downhill". In May the food was very nice but in September I noticed a dramatic change for the worse! We chose to eat out most nights due to this. However, on the BBQ night the food was absolutely delicious! The clientele has also changed too... a couple of fights took place during our stay and also very young children were running around until 3 or 4am whilst their parents sat drinking in the bar! I think Musas is a very good manager and the hotel is run extremely well. He constantly asks if everything is to your satisfaction as does Burak, the owner's son, as they want your stay in their hotel to be as pleasant as possible. The staff are very professional. All the waiting staff make you feel very welcome and want to please you...in fact it is quite a shock to come back to England where the service received in shops and restaurants is pretty diabolical!!!! Would definitely stay here again but unfortunately the 2 bedroom apartments are being phased out which means the party I travel with do not want to stay here again as they need 2 bedrooms. The kid's club is great too but unfortunately you can only use it if you travel with Thomas Cook(or Thomson?). I would recommend this hotel to anyone who had not stayed in Altinkum previously as it caters to everyone's needs. Keep up the good work Esra!!!

| said: We really liked this hotel because it was away from the hustle and bustle. It was within walking distance of the 3rd beach and Altinkum center,if a walk is what you wanted. The apartments were really clean and the staff were the best people I have ever met, they looked after us very well. The entertainment was really good to say we were there at the end of the season. We would definatly use this hotel again and would recomend it to anybody.

| said: The apts were extremely spacious and well equiped. They were very clean and the maid seemed to come every day.
The staff were very friendly helpful and good fun.
Although the entertainment wasn't to our taste it was quite varied and others seemed to enjoy it.
We would definately use these apts again.
