| said: we stayed at lykia world recently, our second visit, this time it wasnt quite so good, the hotel prices have gone up quite a lot and the a la carte restaurants are over priced so we didnt try any, we also all got a 24 hr sickness bug that went around the hotel, also there seems to be tons of bees and wasps grr, the air con is set at 24 and cant be changed which we found too hot in the daytime and fine at night. excellent facilities for kids, ellie enjoyed the kids club and the paradise park. the food was again very good , plenty of sun beds available all over the complex so that was great, but could have been cos it was the week before half term. we enjoyed our stay there but probably wont be back as twice is enough

| said: This was our first time to Turkey and as a family of four. We arrived on the 1st April which I think was one of the 1st days of opening! There were only 3 of us checking in so check-in was quick.We had a family room in the L's (cant remember the names!) on the ground floor. The room was large enough for us 4.
We had a bed settee for our eldest who is 4 and a travel cot and there was still plenty of space. The bathroom was large and the shower was excellent, warm and powerful. The rooms were cleaned every day and the towels were supposed to be changed 3 times a week but i'm sure we had clean towels every day.
The whole hotel was very clean. The Residence restaurant was the only one open when we arrived, for the first 5 days so we had a bit of a trek for meals but it didnt bother us. The food was excellent, much better than I expected it to be. There is loads to choose from so we didnt get bored. A couple of times the residence had something different like sushi which was made in front of you (which was very good). When the village restaurant opened the food was almost the same as residence and just as good. For breakfast there was a choice of cereals, museli, yogurts, meats, salads, cheeses, breads, omelettes waffles, pancakes, and the usual hot things like sausages, eggs, french toast etc. At lunch there were grilled meats (lamb and chicken usually), salads, stuffed veggies, rice, pizza, chips, different kinds of potatoes, salads and breads. dinner was almost the same but with pastas and some other specials suck as stuffed chicken, stuffed lamb, meatballs (koftas), chilli, fish, chinese meals I could go on!!!Everything we ate, and we pretty much tried everything between us, was lovely and the staff were fab. They loved the kids!!
The hotel is built in a cove and so is built up the sides of mountains. As a result its a bit of a climb up to childrens paradise but alternatively there is a bus that runs around the hotel that also ventures down to the beach. The hotel is massive!
It is only 5 mins away from Olu Deniz and there is a bus that runs evry 10 mins down to the town. We didnt go to Olu Deniz but the beach did look lovely. The beach at the hotel is pebbly but does have sand around the sunlounger area. The beach is a nice one though.
Fethiye was about 20mins away and was a lot bigger than I expected. We went to the market which is HUGE. There is a bus from Olu Deniz which runs to Fethiye regularly.
The staff at the hotel were fantastic, especially the childrens club guys. Only our 4 yr old went along and only to the evening times. They were fab though and i cant emphasise enough how good they were.How they remember so many childrens name i dont know!The kids club ran lots of activities but i'm sure you will have seen the brochure. The Judo lessons looked excellent and the guy who did them is an ex world champ. He looked like he was having a fab time and the show he did with the kids was fab.
All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful and were very impressed. The entertainment was also very good. there was a couple of theatres around but only the residence one was open when we were there so I dont know how it works at peak time. The shows that were on were really good. There was an entertainment team who performed nearly all the shows and they were very good. We also had a Turkish night with Turkish dancers (with belly dancers!)and a magic show.The kids loved it!
Overall We had a fantastic time. The weather was really good although we had 4 bad weather days. The temp when we got there was around 19-22 and when we left (2wk holiday) it was getting up to around 25-27'c. Like I said earlier we were one of the first to stay and so quite a lot of the hotel was closed. Only the residence indoor/outdoor pool was open but our kids were happy swimming anywhere and there are a couple of slides there. The outdoor pool was freezing but I expect when the weather is warmer it would warm up and be refreshing as we were told temps last summer got up to 55'c! The childrens paradise opened after about 5 days.
We would definately go back and already we are looking at next year. For anyone thinking of going at the same time of year just bear in mind that Olu Deniz is basically closed and the hotel maynot be completly open which we weren't told but maybe should have expected!Also the weather can be unpredictable. We did have plenty of gorgeous days but as I've said it did rain for 4 days and when I say rain...it was like a monsoon! Another point to make is that prices at the hotel are quite expensive. We paid £4 for a large bag of doritos from the shop and a large beer was 3.75. Glass of red wine was 4.25 so make the most of your drinks with measl!!!I suppose typical hotel prices but just to make you aware! Also I had a look, the shop sells baby food (jars for different stages and Hipp organic milk, baby cereals), nappies etc...
Great holiday and I think it will be hard to beat.

| said: Almost faultless.
However, one gripe is that hotel was entering close-down at the end of October and the quality of the food deteriorated from 5* at the start of our week to 3* by the end with lots of "oh we've run out" coming from the chefs.
Rooms fine - you dont stay in them for long so hardly a big thing for us
Stunning location - far far better than we were expecting. Not easy to get off-site but as we were only there for a week it wasnt an issue. If you wanted a chance of scene on the odd night then yes, this may be an issue
Staff couldnt have been more helpful. Littel Emre in particular was a total star - if he ever entered Big Brother over here he would walk it! He had both adults and kids eating out of his hands - a natural charmer and entertainer.
Entertainment for a week was fine - might have grated if we had 2 weeks of it

| said: Lykia World Residence is amazing. The hotel itself is huge and can take 15 minutes just to walk from one end to the other, but it's worth it for the beautiful scenery. There are lots of pools including at least 2 over 18 pools which is lovely if you want peace and quiet. The food is delicious, they have a different theme each night with LOTS of choice. I particularly liked the range of fresh fruit which were very yummy!
You are never far from a bar to purchase drinks when the sun gets too hot, the beach is lovely and has a platform you can swim out to to view marine life.
Olu Deniz is a 5 minute drive away and taxi's a provided by the hotel, the staff are very friendly and most speak good English.
They have a different show on every night. I watched a few and enjoyed them all, had a good laugh at some and was in awe over others.
I would definately go back to this resort when i get the chance!

| said: Check in was very quick. We were given entertainment programmes for the following week and the children were given a teens programme.
Shown to our room which was a family standard room. Stayed in Patara block which was a bit of a walk to reception but was fine for us (had to walk off all that food somehow!) Had a lovely veiw of the mountain and sea.
Restaurants: All the food was of a very high standard. Our favourite was the Marina and usually got seated if we were down by 7.45. By 8pm there was someone standing at the top of the stairs telling you it was full.
Speciality restaurants: Tried the Blue Buddah Chinese and Neptune Fish restaurant. Both were excellent, could not fault the food, setting or service!
Teens Club: Children joined after a couple of days and that was that - never saw them again! They loved it. Did a lot of water sports with them, Banana boat, Ringo, Power Boat and Jet Ski. These cost between 4 and 10 euros. My daughter did have an accident on the banana boat though and ended up with a swollen face and black eye.
Activities: Husband and children did a 1 day scuba course with LW. Thought it was very good except my daughter couldn't finish the dive in the sea as her ears were hurting.
Husband went paragliding with the hotel. We did look into prices in Olu deniz but Lykia World dropped their prices while we were there, £79 for an early morning flight and £89 for a midday one, so he went with them. He said the most dangerous part was getting to the top of the mountain! It takes about an hour to get up there and he was up in the air for about 45mins - he absolutely loved it!! The advantage of going with Lykia is that you land by the Marina restuarant where we went straight into lunch - he said he felt like James Bond!
Can see why a lot of people return here. There is something for everyone.

| said: We have just returned from our first visit to Lykia World – our three kids (10, 10 & 12), my wife and I all had a fantastic time.
Arrival was very smooth – I opted for the hotel provided mini bus transfer which was convenient, but more expensive than others and was actually provided by another bus operator – next time we’ll use HamishMcTurk or similar. I did not fancy the very late arrival/departure of some flights with all the problems of vacating rooms etc. so we had booked day-time flights on Thomas Cook which were thankfully not delayed.
We had adjoining category 5 rooms in the Olympus block on the first floor with a nice side sea view – I had requested north facing O block rooms by e-mail and that is what we got, so could not have been better. The rooms were ideal for us, and to a good standard of décor – the air-conditioning was a bit temperamental, but mostly worked OK. One thing people have mentioned is Dove shampoo and soap being provided in the rooms – this is no longer the case !! Only soap dispensers are in the bathrooms and showers – take your own shampoo ! Housekeeping was good, although the 2-4pm time was not always conmvenient.
As many have mentioned, the site is built on a hill side so everywhere you go is up or down steps or a slope – for us this was not a problem (and was good exercise) – but anyone with mobility problems should probably think twice. I have seen complaints about the time to get from the rooms to pools etc – well it took me exactly 5 mins to stroll from our room to the Residence pool on the other side of the resort – it is really not a problem !
Our kids are very gregarious and slotted into the Kids Club almost immediately, making new friends and having a great time with all the activities – their leaders (April, Sofien, Anil and Elgun) were great and we felt very comfortable waving them all off at 10 am, and often not seeing them till 6 pm – they really enjoyed the freedom to come and go as they pleased. Our kids liked to eat with us in the evenings and then go to the show so did not use the evening kids club.
The activities were very well run, ranging from water polo and water bomb fights in the Children’s Paradise, to banana boat rides, to rock climbing, archery and judo – all professionally run with excellent equipment. Our 10 yr old twin son and daughter both joined in the 8 pm football matches on several evenings and did the children’s show – our 12 yr old daughter skipped the show as it was really aimed at the younger kids.
We mostly ate dinner in the Marina restaurant, although we tried the Village and Residence (which I actually slightly preferred) the standard of food and choice was very good, although I got a bit fed up with buffet style by the time we left – We also went to the Blue Buddha Chinese restaurant twice which was excellent.
We went to the Residence pool most days as it was quieter than the village pool, and the loungers did not seem to get reserved quite so early ! The only slight hiccough was a group of four English women who arrived with their kids at the pool at midday (after a hard night partying) sporting their designer sunglasses & expecting to find the best spot in the sun – they dragged loungers into the 10ft space between our loungers and the pool – completely blocking our view of the pool and access around the pool & getting dirty looks from everyone else trying to get past ! The first day they did this we did the british thing of putting up with it, but when they repeated the performance the next day I had a word (or two) & fortunately they did not come back a third day – some people just don’t care whose day they spoil as long as the get what they want.
We really enjoyed the 9.30 pm shows in the amphitheater or by the Village pool – most were excellent (Chinese & Kenyan acrobats, Circus, Dance etc) – only the ‘comedy’ show was very dodgy !
My wife and I are qualified scuba divers (although a bit rusty) – so when they dive centre team turned up at the pool for kids to have a go in the afternoon our kids jumped at the chance & we booked them up to do a half day Discover Scuba course which included learning basic diving skills in the pool, followed by a 40 minute dive in the sea, down to 25ft – this was very closely supervised, and the dive centre arranged it so that we could join them on the dive.
If any of you are into diving, or thinking about trying it, I cannot recommend the dive centre highly enough – it is English run, and the instructors are highly professional.
I also did one boat dive to a spectacular set of caverns – very good visibility & lots of fish !
All in all it was a very successful holiday – my wife had a complete rest, the kids had loads to do and really had fun, and I had plenty to go and do if I got bored by the pool – what more can you ask for ? Lykia World really does seem to offer all you could need in a family holiday and we will be back !

Flight left UK at 6.30pm, with getting Visa's, bags & the transfer we arrived at Lykia about 3 am.
We took the TC coach transfer, journey takes about 1:45 mins. Thomas Cook Rep did not have our names on his list & blamed the 'merger'. I just showed them my paperwork stood my ground & insisted on getting on the coach. No way was I sorting out my own taxi transfer to Olu Deniz at one in the morning !!! Lykia is always the last drop off due to it's location, wasn't a problem for us. Most folk slept until the drop offs commenced in Hisoranu.
We were offered cokes and sandwiches while booking in which I thought was a nice touch.
Lykia was spotless considering the size of the place & that they have in excess of 2000 people on site. I sat on the balcony one day & the maid spent 30 mins on our room. Bath towels were good quality but didn't seem to be changed as often as I would have liked. Later found out this was my fault for keep hanging them up & that if I had put them on the floor they would have changed them daily. Same with show gel being replenished you need to take it off the wall for maid to know it's empty. The grounds, gardens & pool areas were also spotless & staff constantly mopped up spills in the restaurants.
Our room in Lymra block was fine for what we paid, although more suited to those with two kids under 12.
You went in the main door, on the left was an archway through to the bathroom, with shower cubicle, wash basin & door to the loo. The archway gives no privacy & for those with teens a door would be much better as there is a huge mirror opposite the archway, reflecting people getting in and out of the shower.
There was a large main room, huge 6ft double bed(possibly two 3 fts pushed together), then a step down to an adequate double sofa-bed, not really brilliant if you have mixed sex teens like us, but we manaaged. Storage was also not great for four, for two weeks but no worse than many other hotels. Expensive mini-bar and a TV we didn't switch on for the fortnight, so no idea what programmes are like. Free safe in wardrobe.
The room was freshly painted and while didnt have the modern square sink shown on the web-site, the washbasin & toilet were new. I guess Lymra has had a refub of some kind. We also had a nice balcony with a side sea view.
Lymra is very near reception and the village restaurant which is good, the downside is that you can hear the music till 2am, even over the rather noisy air con.
The food as Lykia (along with the views & landscaped grounds) is the star of the show. If you were served this a la carte it would be 5*. The choice is outstanding and as there are three included restaurants, the Marina, the Residence and the Village you can eat in different settings which is a plus to most AI/FB's in the Olu Deniz area. The Marina is lovely for the views & eating outdoors, but we came to prefer the Residence as it was smaller, less frantic and we got to know our the staff there so it was a bit more personal.
There is show cooking so you are assured of eating something fresh and hot. They have speciality nights and the included wine is fine for Turkey (not a purveyor of fine wines). The minerals are branded coke, 7 up, Tango, the only disappointment is the beer, it's Tuborg not Efes & DH said it tasted watered down, probably wasn't just weak, suppose it stops people getting drunk lol.
We only managed a lateish breakfast and early dinner, skipping lunch so probably didn't get our full value like many. We never tried the a la cartes as we were so happy with the included food.
We bought big bottles of water & cans of 7up at the pool bars at lunch time.
Bills at Lykia are confusing, Everything is priced in Euros. We put everything on our room and paid on the last day & the bill is in Lira! We assumed it would be in Euros and I had Euro travellers cheques from the year before, they did convert it for me though. Large water was 2.40ytl & can 7up 2.38ytl. Only thing that cost a bit was scuba diving about 700ytl, no idea how that compares to anywhere else for a 1.5 day PADI qualification course.
The location of Lykia is great if you just want to stay on site, but poor if you wish to get out and about and see the area. A Lykia cab to Olu Deniz is 15ytl there and 10ytl back, very reliable on times as well. All fares from Lykia are cheaper for return journeys.
TC trips are generally expensive. They do a full day trip for a fiver into Fethyie, which is worth it if you want to go shopping as it costs less than a cab. Goes to the Gold Centre, Fethyie Market, Handbag Shop (v. expensive) and Turkish Delight Shop, with a break in the middle to get your own lunch.
The hotel staff were brilliant nothing is too much trouble for them. We tipped a couple that stood out for us as well as putting in the general tip boxes.
Hotel entertainment is not our thing, alternate nights we had an early dinner & then took a cab to Olu Deniz for a wander round the little shops and a drink & coffee in one of the bars. Caught the Chinese monks I guess they were OK, not so sure about the Mr Lykia contest, but if you like that kind of thing it is the same or possibly a little better as you get anywhere.
The other daytime entertainment is the sporting faclities and pools. These are great. We liked the grassy area at the back of the childrens paradise and the grassy area behind the Oasis pool during the day. I did get annoyed at the amount of people who took little kids into the adult only pool though. It's unfair on the staff who then have the awkward job of having to tell them to leave. No respect. You could tell all these people were just liberty takers and knew they shouldn't really be there from the sheepish way they acted. No wonder kids don't follow rules nowdays as they have their parents as examples. We also went to the beach a few times but getting in the water is a bit hard on the feet.
Lykia wouldn't be for everybody due to it's size and location. I liked the Full Board plus aspect & prefered it to AI as it didn't seem to attract any heavy drinkers.
Don't normally go back to the same hotel twice, as there is not the same anticipation up to the holiday, but if I could find Lykia at a good price, I would. Unfortunaley would need two in the Residence so sadly would probably be beyond our pocket.
If you want a family style holiday, have not been and are hesitating I would book it.

The staff were amazing, we never saw a miserable face, they couldn’t do enough for you. Once our 14 year old found the teen club (which she didn’t want to join!) we never saw her, it was great!! Thanks to Negan the teen club leader! The food was unbelievable loads of choice. We did all suffer from sickness bug in the second week but we think this was down to a virus as some families had it but others that we spoke to didn’t have any symptoms and the hotel was spotless. This wouldn’t put us off from staying at Lykia World again; our kids want to go next year! Don’t bother taking beach towels as they are provided free of charge. Prices in the bar were a bit steep but if you stay in the marina with your free wine until 9.30 you don’t need much more, well I didn’t anyway!! We went on a jeep safari with Bloody Gorgeous in Olu Deniz it was £60 for 4 of us much cheaper than booking in Lykia world and we had a great day!

| said: Please bear in mind with my review that this is only our second package holiday and do not have anything to compare it with. So here goes.
Ok where to start. We arrived 8th August and were booked into a Cat 6 Village room with seaview, our rooms were right at the end of Simena block (S249 & S250). The rooms are fairly basic and lacking in storage space, the wardrobes have enough hanging space but lack drawer space. They provide hangars and I am sure you could ask for more. However I had taken some spare hangers which I was glad of. There space provided for suitcases was not particularly good and we ended up having to slot suitcases alongside the couch. The step up and down was a complete pain, step down then up over the door then down again and up to the kids bed level. The beds were horrendous the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in. But it was very clean if not a bit dated and in need of refurbishment. All in all I would not give the village rooms more than 3* and the residence 3.5*. Space wise much better but in need of a complete refurb.
The food was plentiful and masses of choice, however we did find it got very samey and again I would not give it 4 or 5 stars. For eg you always had either chicken kebab or doner kebab (It was very tasty thought). Towards the end though I started to just opt for Steak and Jacet Potato. The deserts were not for me, I usually ended up with ice cream. As I said the food was very good and plenty of choice but definitely not 4/5*.
The pools, we went to the village once, not to be repeated. The best pool was of course the Oasis (Adult) pool which goes without saying and of course there were the occasional numbskills that bought their children. They were normally seen off either by staff or by people (mainly brits I have to say). The next best was Kids Paradise. Again pools were very clean and the kids loved it and you could usually get a nice spot on the grass under the trees.
We didn't like having to put the towels out but as a friend said, if you didn't do it then you ended up not be able to get a bed. Of course there were the greedy arrogant ones, we sat on the beach one time, there were 6 Russian in front of us, they had eight beds and five!!!! umberellas.
The entainment staff were superb (Elmar was especially nice). Can't say enough about them. My kids however whilst they enjoyed most of the kids clubs activities did not usually stay for evening entertainment.
The best restaurant of all was the Marina, you had to get there early to get a table. There was always lots of fed up looking people trying to get a table at about 8pm. Some people have said that the tables were hogged because of the free booze but my argument here is that we had to sacrifice our pool/beach time to get a table. Its there choice if they wanted to stay at the beach etc to the bitter end but then you have to accept whatever table or restaurant you can get. We ate there every night and had a table for six, however, when the kids had eaten we always gave up the end of the table as the kids were off playing whilst we watched the sunset and chatted.
The kids watched a couple of the shows which they said were very good.
My husband, son (12) and daughter (10) all did paragliding with Escape at Lykia and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I woudn't advise going the cheaper route, the rep told us that there have been 5 deaths this year alone from them.
Almost forgot to mention the steps are killer for those of us who are slightly unfit.
All in all we did enjoy the holiday and Lykia World is superb if you enjoy that sort of holiday. I guess a package holidays is just not for us. If we did have another package holiday though in the future we would go back to Lykia but in the residence.

My daughter enjoyed the kids club, especially Elmare & Kiymet!! they really love the kids. Ate breakfast at the Village Restaurant and majority of evening's went to the Marina, we did arrive about 7:15 to be able to get a table. I personally did get a bit fed up of the food towards the end, but their of plently of other restaurants to choose, at a surcharge. We did try the chinese twice, which I would really recommend, the staff were really attentive. Local wine and bear was available at meal times. If you wanted anything else you had to pay for it on your room card, which is then billed at the end of the holiday. Evening entertainment was ok, found the best performance was their gala night with the fire works.
We stayed in the Perdika block, which was quite a walk for some, but really didn't bother us, our room had an intereonnecting door to the kids, our room was nice and clean, and our bed was comfortable. We did meet other families which were unhappy with their rooms who stayed in O & L - who said were a bit dated.
Overall we had a lovely time, very busy,loads of brits, some brits just as rude as the Germans!!much quieter our 2nd week. Meet some really lovely people though!.
I recommend any trips you take you get a taxi into Olu Deniz and book with 'Bloody Georgeous' they picked us up from our hotel, and take back any water and put it in the mini fridge, much cheaper that way. Taxi return 25 lira but taxi rank just outside the gates, some people said it was cheaper going straight to be rank.
For me personally I would n't return to Lykia world unless they made this fully inclusive. With the temperature 38+ the kids were constantly wanting drinks or lollies, 300 Lira for a magnum!. There are however, water machines around.

Lykia lived up to expectations and more. We were allocated two lovely rooms in the Telmessos Block. Wonderful views, quiet and peaceful. Right opposite the Oasis Pool for adults.
I can't really add anymore than what people have already written. The food was lovely.
Only used the Marina Restaurant on two occasions at lunch time (this is when we got our only mossie bites). Also if you only want a light lunch, the chinese does Thai and Fried Noddles at lunch time. No charge.
Would I return, without a doubt.
Soft drinks are reasonably price at 1.50 euros, pint of beef was 3.75e and a large bottle of cool water from any bar was 1.25e. (oh and two double brandies 28 euros!! not for me thankfully. Cocktails from 7.00e upwards. That's all the prices I can remember.
Enjoy, if your going and book if you haven't already.

| said: Wow!!! We have just returned from a fortnight spent at Lykia World Village and it fulfilled all our expectations and more. Anyone travelling here is sure in for a treat and our only complaint is that we are spoilt for anywhere else.
~~~First Impressions~~~
The brochure really doesn't do Lykia World justice. It really is in the most magnificent setting in landscaped gardens filled with pine trees against a stunning mountain backdrop. The mountains are lit up at night and a walk back after dark to your room in the village is lovely, something a repeat guest said she missed at she was staying at the residence this time.
Everywhere is kept spotless and even though the resort is huge, there are always sunbeds available and it never appears crowded as you would expect.
Our rooms were clean and spacious with plenty of storage space and large, well appointed bathrooms with very large, walk in showers. The views over looked the gardens and you could see the sea throught the trees in the distance. We were situated in P block which was the furthest away from the central entertainment area, about a 7 minute walk through the beautiful gardens, but it was quietest here and also nearest to the Oasis adult only pool.
~~~Meals~~~
Breakfast was served in the Village or Residence resturants, the Village being the larger of the two. We did find this extremely busy and chaotic, even though it wasn't peak season it was often difficult to get a table here so we would walk another 5 minutes to the residence where one was always available. The main problem with the Village was that all the tables were large, seating 8, so although some people were happy to share, as a family of 6 this wasn't possible for us.
There was a huge selection for breakfast - fruit, meats, cheeses, salads, soup?, cooked english, cereals, waffles, pancakes, omelettes, etc and a great selection of freshly cooked bread and pastries. You helped yourself to tea, coffee and soft drinks although fresh juices had to be paid for.
Lunch was served in the Village or Marina restaurants and again there was something for everyone - meats, fish, salads, potatoes, chips, several pasta dishes, freshly made pizza, etc and thai noodles were also available at this time in the Chinese restaurant. We kept meaning to try them but never made it unfortunately.
There was a late breakfast option and 'snack line' between 2.30-5.30pm in the Village where limited hot items, fruit, and desserts were available if you were still peckish. During lunch and dinner house wine was available by the bottle (inclusive) and you could help yourself to soft drinks and beer. There was also a midnight snack available in the village area.
Dinner could be taken in the Village and Residence restaurans and each night had a different theme in each - french, turkish, italian, fish, mexican, etc and also in the Marina restuarant which overlooked the beach and where you dined outside whilst the sun went down behind the mountains, beautiful. The menu here was international and there was loads of choice including freshly barbeques meat and fish. The Marina did get very busy though and if you arrived much after 7.30pm you were very unlikely to get a table. In fact when we were there, signs went up saying it was full and staff were not permitting you from going down to it much after 7.45pm.
The desserts were extensive and there was huge selection of fruit on offer. At lunch and dinner, ice-cream cornets was available which kept the kids well happy.
Children also had their own restaurants, one in the village for lunch and dinner and one in the children's paradise for lunch only. There was a limited 'child friendly' selection here and they could eat with the kids reps, enabling adults to have a meal on their own if they so wished.
In addition to the main restaurnats, you could visit the Italian, Chinese & Turkish restaurants for 6 euros adults, 3 euros children or fish restaurant for 10 euros adults only. You have to make a reservation and all excpet the Turkish one have set daily menus. We went to the Turkish 'Sofra' one but have to say was a little disappointed. The food was fine but we expected more entertainment than the one belly dancer that was one.
We found the food to be excellent, lots of choice for everyone, all fresh and hot.
~~~Entertainment~~~
We were impressed with the entertainment which was very profesionally done. There was different show each night in the open air ampitheatre which was on from 9.30-10.30 and sometimes another one on the village dance floor afterwards. These were various themes - turkish, hawaian, hollywood, and sundays were gala nights - not to be missed. There was a childrens disco before the nightly entertainment or the children could go along to their clubs and be entertained whilst you finished dinner. Once a week there was a show put on by the children - Nemo one week, Action heros the next, these were excellent and certainly bought a tear to your eye. The first week our 5 year old twins did Nemo and our 7 & 10 year old boys couldn't wait to particiapte the next week after seeing them. There is also live music and a disco in other areas of the resort although we did not visit these.
~~~Activities~~~
There's a huge range for everyone - the usual games around the pool, golf, archery, tennis, watersports available from the beach. There's a fitness centre and two spas, turkish baths, to name few. Children were kept very entertained in their clubs. Forget the usual drawing in a room, at Lykia they can go rock climbing, jet skiing, golf, skating, canoing, do archery, judo, play football, go on a banana boat, safari, boat trip, the list is endless. Some attract a fee but at 10 euros for jet skiing and 4 euros for the banana boat it's nothing. Our four had a fabulous time here and made lots of friends whilst trying out new activities. The kids clubs run alldays and are split into age groups 305, 6-8, 9-12 and teens and are open all day. You can sign them in as you want and ours went when the activities were something they fancied and stayed with us by the pools at other times. Some days we even managed a couple of hours on our own, what bliss!!! There was also a cinema for the children.
~~~Pools~~~
Now these are somthing else. There are loads of them dotted around but none are ever too crowded and you can always find a bed. There's the main one in the Village where all the entertainments take place and another large on in the Residence that aslo has a couple of waterslides. Then there are a couple of toddler pools in the kids club area and two adult only ones, the Oasis in the Village area having spectacular views. Only thing that marred this was the odd inconsiderate couple who insisted in taking their young child in, thankfully none were British!!
And then there is the Children's Paradise - this is truly fabuloue. Lots of pools with various slides to suit all inclding one with 5 slides for the adventurous. Also in this area is a football court and chilren's playground. We spent many days here and the children had an amazing time.
~~~The Beach~~~
The resort is situated by the beach which is very clean with plenty of beds and parasols. At the far end you can try a variety of watersports or even go paragliding from the nearby mountain, fabulous to watch too.
~~~Conclusion~~~
There are buses running around the resort that will take you to the various areas if you don't fancy the walk although you will still have to do some and there are alot of steps around the village so not suitable for the infirm. Whilst we were there, there was a heatwave with unusually high temperatures reaching 54 degrees. Despite this no-one came back burnt as there were so many shaded areas and lots of parasols available, often not the case.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lykia, there were many things we didn't get the chance to do and the children will be spoilt for anywhere else. I would have no hesitation recommending Lykia, especially to families and although we never return to a hotel, certainly will to this one either next year or in 2009.
| said: We travelled to Lykia World for the first time at the very beginning of the 2007 season.
We were a little disappointed with the Thomas Cook flight, very crammed, especially with a toddler on our knees!
We opted to take a private taxi from the airport, which was well worth the extra cost, and probably cut around 30-45 minutes off the coach journey.
We stayed at the Residence, and paid for a side-sea view, and had a lovely room (733) with great views over to Olu Deniz. Reception desk staff were helpful and friendly, check-in was a breeze, very quick and had our luggage taken up to our room swiftly.
Not sure where to start really - Lykia World is a great place, we had a wonderful two weeks. The first week was noticeably quieter as it was early season, but this was really nice. No trouble getting tables at the restaurants, or a spot by the pools or beach. The second week got busier, but nothing I suppose compared to July/August when I can imagine it is very very busy.
The weather was lovely, hot during the day, sunny, and cooled off nicely in the evenings. A couple of mornings/afternoons when it was cloudy but this didn't stop us doing anything.
We ate mostly at the Residence village for breakfast. Lots of choice, staff so friendly. Lunch was at the Marina mostly for us, lovely to sit out and overlook the sea - again more choice that you can imagine. Our 15 month old tried lots of different things, and was very satisfied. We had dinner mainly at the Marina again, or the Residence, which we felt had a nicer feel to it than the Village. THe Village restaurant mainly consisted of tables for 8 people, so you can imagine having to share a table in peak season if you are small family.
The pools etc were spotlessly clean, the Children's paradise was lots of fun, nice and shady for the little one, yet lots of nice loungers out on the gardens too.
The entertainment team were great - not pushy to get you involved if you didn't want to, and the shows at 9:30 in the evening in the ampitheatre were of good quality, sometimes a little cheesy!
We took a taxi into Olu Deniz. A nice place, but of course aimed at the tourists, so were happy to return back to Lykia World.
All in all, I would say that you can beat Lykia World for a really great family holiday, and even singles/couples would be happy here as there is so much (or little) to do, whatever you fancy.
The rooms in the Residence were very clean, but I think are soon ready for refubishment as they look a little dated. Overall a wonderful holiday and we will definitely return, avoiding the summer holidays if possible (not just because of the crowds, but the heat!).
Our room was in the K block in the village with interconnecting rooms it was clean and very spacious with a balcony
The food was fantastic, lots of choice to suit everyone and always something different. The marina restaurant was our favourite. We would have a leisurly meal and watch the sun go down it was lovely.
We ate in the chinese a couple of times it cost 6 euro a head and was well worth it
The entertainment was great, a show each night in the ampitheatre, over the fortnight we saw most shows which were great. The kids club 6-12years took part in a show each friday, finding nemo and superheros, these were excellent to watch and the kids had a great time.
The kids clubs were well organised with varied activities such as bowling archery tennis water sports. Some had an extra charge like banana boat parasailing etc, but not excessive.
We also went on a boat trip £6 and jeep Safari £14 which we booked in oulideniz as it was much cheaper. Both great days out and excellent value
The sea was lovely and clear and the beach was shingly so water shoes were a must.
The first week we were there was relatively quiet and it was no problem getting a sun bed or a table at meal times. It was however much busier the second week, I think the hotel was probably full. It wasnt a problem it just meant you needed to set out for your evening meal a bit earlier which is what we did. There was always a sunbed available on the beach but I think you would have had to be up early to reserve a bed by the pool. The village pool had big steps leading down to it which could be used to sit or sunbathe so we usually ended up on those for a while which was ok
All in all a fantastic place
Drinks (especially in the evening) can be quite expensive, so we mainly drank at mealtimes when it was free, with the odd beer and cocktail at other times.
Our room was excellent, very spacious and clean. The children loved the Kids Paradise and the slides were great fun - with hardly any queues ever.
The shows were brilliant and the staff were very friendly. Despite what another reviewer said, we did paragliding from a smaller operator in Olu Deniz which cost just over half what it would have done to go from Lykia. My pilot said they had done 35,000 jumps with no injuries.
We would highly recommend Lykia World.
The hotel is full board plus which means all your meals are included and red/white wine, beer, soft drinks fanta, sprite, coke, diet coke are also available at these times. The only time you pay for drinks is in the evening.
The hotel is spotless all the time, toilets always are lovely and clean and the cleaners are always in and out of them to make sure. Our room was cleaned every day and the cleaner always done something fancy with my nightie.
The hotel food was to die for. so many different varieties.
breakfast: pancakes, waffles, bacon and eggs sausages, loads of meats and cheeses, olives
lunch: chips pizza liver and onions steak pasta jacket potatoes anything you could imagine and also about 20 different desserts
dinner: as much food as lunch time
The hotel is set in its own bay with stunning views. our room was a family room k212 which was a stunning sea view. Saw the sunset every night pure luxury. The hotel is about 5 mins away from Olu Deniz.
The hotel staff are always happy to help you. We had 2 birthdays while we were there and they escorted us to our table which was covered in flowers they always make special occasions great.
Entertainment superb just like seeing the shows at London. Very glitzy. Raymond the singer was great and the acrobats well what positions they got into.(ouch).
Always something going on around the pool and around the complex. Rock climbing, childrens paradise with the water slides. Inline skating, judo, tennis, the list is endless.
We are looking to return next year. Met loads of people who have been before and keep coming back. The hotel is that big that you need to come back a second year to see it all.
| said: This is our third visit to Lykia and there are a few changes. Plus points to this place are that it is not full of screaming kids and lager louts.
The accommodation in the Village is excellent and there is lots of choice in the restaurants, lots of entertainment choice and the water park and beaches are excellent.
In previous years there were more Italians, Turkish, Russians etc although the "Brits" seem to be taking over, never a sunbed at the main pool after 7.30.
Mealtimes now seem to finish at 9pm whereas previously they were 10pm/11pm. Service at the Main Village Bar was extremely slow even to the waiters and this year they seemed to be plagued with cats and kittens hissing and screaming all night. The changes seem to be cost cutting although it is still an expensive place to visit and you will soon have a hefty bar bill.
Lykia is now in its 15th year and with all the competition from the All Inclusive set they need to really keep standards high and not let them deteriorate as they seem to be doing. We spoke to a lot of Repeaters who will not be going back next year and it didn't seem to be full this time!
All said our daughter still thinks it is the best place in the world for a holiday and she would be happy to go back there anytime and that is half the battle.
| said: We travelled Lykia World with Buzz Holidays in UK and get very good price and also friendly service. It seems they know what they are doing with many years experience. We transferred to hotel with air-conditioned minibus from Dalaman Airport in 1 hour 15 minutes time.
Stayed there with family for 14 days end July/early August 2006 in a family room in Village side. Found the village overall to be of a good standard. The hotel is fairly extensive with plenty of places to eat/drink - we ate mostly at the main restaurant which suited us best - good varied food, efficient service. First class buffet breakfast with something for everyone.
The village setting is superb with an easy stroll to the beach. Being a stiff Englishman and having read the previous reports re the friendly staff who know your name, I was a bit concerned this aspect might be overbearing - but not so. As is typical of the Turkish people our kids had loads of attention and there is a genuine warmth in relation to children (particularly toddlers).
Lots of activities going on such as you can try out a scuba dive, sailing, paragliding.
As for the accommodation our room was first class, spacious and comfortable.
The location is away from the main 'touristy' parts of the main resort but the hotel lays on reasonably priced taxi services to Olu Deniz, Hisaronu or Fethiye town. I suggest if you need a taxi, don't use the hotel cars as you pay international prices. Best to stroll out and get one outside.
Interestingly the hotel appears to attract a fair amount of repeat visitors, so I guess that's a good sign. We would be quite happy going back there if ever we are in Turkey in the future.
The food was varied and plentiful. You could eat yourself senseless. The desserts were incredible and were eased down with masses of ice cream.
The location was idyllic but the only drawback was you had to get a cab to get to Olu Deniz as there were no busses. No big deal because we hardly wanted to go out.
There is so much to do on site with the 19 pools and great beach and a whole host of activities. If you are sporty you will love it and if you are not there is enough space to be totally alone.
Entertainment was a bit samey every night but it was good quality.
In addition there are 5 other 'themed' restaurants which, have a small extra charge.
The food is plentiful and varied and available from 7.00 am until 9.30pm, there's even a midnight buffet should you feel the need!
There are 19 pools situated around the resort with adequate provision of sunbeds and lots of shade too - even at the 2 beaches Lykia have erected shades, in addition to providing parasols.
2 of the pools are adult only and are in quiet secluded areas, there are another 2 large pools, the rest are at the Childrens Paradise which, is fantastic - with waterslies, an artificial beach and lifeguards are in abundance.
The apartment we had was fine, plenty of hanging space, a well equiped bathroom and 24 hour air-con.
(Soap and shower gel provided)
Also, no need to take beach towels, each person travelling is provided with one free of charge (no deposit required) and this can bve changed daily.
It's a family resort, stacks of clubs and organised activities with pleasant, well trained, staff - although, there's no pressure to join in if you don't want to.
We found safety to be of paramount importance with a good checking in-and-out procedure for the children.
Everyone we came across was duly satisfied and impressed and had a great holiday - man returning back for the 'umpteenth' time.
drinks were no more expensive than in any of the Spanish resorts we've visited and water machines situated throughout the resort (mineral water) were free of charge.
You'd be hard pushed not to have a fabby holiday.
Enjoy
A few negative points should be noted: Our room was on the sea front(extra cost) and we experienced noise late into the night from the disco and from partying teenagers who 'took over' the beach!
Also, none of the numerous pools or the beach are supervised by resort staff and some guests and their children played with balls, inflatables and snorkels and we witnessed several incidents where young children were in potentially dangerous situations because of the actions of other youngsters and/or adults.
The Turkish bath is an experience not to miss however if considering having a massage or facial treatment, note that these are undertaken without personal health information being taken.
Also consider that if, like us, an incident occurs during a treatment, the management at the resort will probably deny any responsibility!!
We met many guests who had been going to this resort for many years and they all said that there had been a deterioration in many of the services and standards at the hotel to the extent that they would not be returning next year. What a shame that a potentially excellent family resort is spoilt by the actions of a few. By the way, we wont be back either!!
We have children aged 2,3,5 so were worried about the flight but they were great books, games and singing enough to keep them entertained.
Smooth going through passport control remember the £10 each for entering Turkey.
Transfer was a long drag but we were so looking forward to it didn't matter too much.
On arriving there we were offered a sandwich and can of pop each, porters carried our bags to our room very nice.
Room we stayed in a Cat 4 family room it had 2 bedrooms, walking wardrobe, bathroom with separate toilet and shower. Also balcony. We were very happy and plenty of space.
The village itself was fantastic and very pretty we have travelled alot with the kids and never has anywhere had such an impact on them. We have had to book again to keep them quiet can't wait.
Food was excellent my husband is a cook and he was very impressed with the quality and the variations, drink included with meals and fine.
Everyone complains about the cost of drink but we were happy to pay the extra just the price of home and remember you are not going into beach front bars where you expect 1 pint for 1 euro. Our bill came to £220 and were pleasantly surprised as we did use the mini bar as kids were so worn out and liked to go to bed there is just so much for them to do.
Anyone going have a really great time.
| said: Having read so many positive reviews we decided to overcome our usual phobia of 'package holidays' and give LykiaWorld a go.
We stayed in the Residence Hotel for 14 nights.
Good points: Beautiful location and grounds, vast range of activities, exceptionally helpful and friendly staff, excellent hotel room, good quality food and plenty of it (though after 14 days the buffet concept does get a bit repetitive), very clean, caters for all ages but with some nice adults only 'quiet' areas.
So-So points: The animation team weren't that good but they did try hard! A few of the restaurant staff seemed clueless but they were a minority.
Bad points: Too many drunken British teenagers (14-16) illegally obtaining alcohol and generally becoming obnoxious as the nights wore on - we heard of several 'issues' after midnight.
If you want a sunbed near either of the main pools you will need to be up with the lark (and the Brits were the worst of the bunch with the Russians not far behind) despite the best efforts of the hotel and some people defend their 'plots' quite aggressively, main bar areas just too crowded (summer school holidays) with not enough seats and tables for many events - save your money if you like this kind of thing - go to Benidorm, it's cheaper!
Wasps made some meal times a misery. You do need to get out if you want to see the 'real' Turkey.
Would we go again, yes, but definitely not during the school holidays! The staff deserve better from their customers than what we experienced and we were certainly not alone in feeling this.
Our hotel room was very clean and someone came in to the room every day to clean and tidy it. The food was out of this world and the choice and presentation of the food was excellent.
We found the location of the hotel very good and there was plenty of things to do. The entertainment was brilliant and we found lots of things to keep us busy on a night.The staff around the complex were very friendly and by the second week of our stay we felt as though we had known some of them for ages as they addressed our children by there names.
The snoopies staff were just so kind and friendly and our little girl is missing them already.
We will definitely be visiting Lykia World again in the very near future.
| said: Lykia World is good, very good but there are a few points I would like to make. The food is excellent for adults but limited for children who are less likely to try things they are not familiar with. The staff were generally very helpful but the bar service at the main village bar was poor. The room was excellent. Location is lovely but no shuttle service to Olu Deniz. Don't believe this resort is all inclusive its not. You have to pay for everything like most sport activities and drinks not at mealtimes. My final bill for my son and I was 200 pounds. Entertainment is very good especially the evening shows at the outdoor theatre.
My main complaint was about information on activities. I took my 14 year old son to Lykia because of all the activities. When we arrived to play football at 4.30 the first day we were told its adults only (nothing on the information sheet to this effect) The only way he could get an organised game was by going to the teen club which he refused to do as its not cool! It was therefore hard work to keep him entertained by we managed. Had similar problems with beach volleyball, tennis and basketball. I think Lykia needs to sort this out. The resort is ideal for young children but not great for teenagers.
However we had a great week and the resort is lovely in many ways. The food for adults is fabulous, most staff are great and the sea / beach is lovely. I will not go back to Lykia though as its rather isolated.
| said: We were allocated a room in the Residence although we had booked the Village. We were told this was an upgrade. 2 days later we met someone who had been upgraded from the Residence to the Village. Don't know what was going on there but room was reasonable.
Residence restaurant is much quieter than the Village one we found this preferable.
We found Full Board+ basis preferable to All Inclusive, you can still get beer and wine with your meals, but you don't have the problems associated with the drinking culture that can develop in some All Inclusive resorts.
Grounds and cleanliness standards in the resort are impeccable. Only complaint we had was that our room wasn't cleaned until ~ 16:00 hrs. If we had mentioned they would probably have done it earlier though.
Hotel food excellent. Went to the Turkish restaurant (Sofra??)with some friends we met. We left though, as we got bombarded with wasps.
Staff very friendly. Residence restaurant staff were outstanding.
Entertainment is to a very high standard.
There is an aerobic studio down the seafront (under cover) but it is not the sort of place where you would give step or anything a bash on holiday, pretty serious stuff.
Night shows are to a high standard, very enjoyable. Only complaint on the entertainment side is that there appears to have been some problem with British teenagers in the past, which may account for the following. Our daughter is 13 and the teen club runs from 13 - 18. Most of the teenagers appeared to be at the higher end of the scale 16 - 18 and were not Brits, who made up ~ 25% of the guests. She was never approached to attend the club and the feeling I got was that although not excluded, she was not going to be invited. You know what teenagers are like and I'm sure they do as well. There were a lot of British kids her age in the same boat and fortunately she met a friend after a couple of days to pass away the hours with. A resort this size and quality should cater better for this group.
One surprise for me was that the Under Manager is a Scotsman (Mike Mitchell) who is the current Mr Universe. Surprised I had to go to Turkey to find this out. Well done Mike.
They provided my wedding requests as I wanted and made my day lovely. The only thing that I wasn't happy with was the taxi prices to Olu Deniz and back £10 return and they wouldnt allow the free beach shuttle to come to Lykia yet all other hotels allowed this beach shuttle to come to their hotels, so this added extra expenses, drinks and ice creams were fairly dear too, but you had to put it all on a room card so it was difficult to keep account of how much you spent so we tried to pay a few times a week and were amazed by how much we had run up on ice creams, drinks etc.
Unsure if i will return to Lykia or not due to it being a little further out than I would have liked, the walk was 45 mins without a path and steep winding roads.
The hotel is huge and has its own little buses to take you around the complex. There are a few number of steps so if like us and you had a child in a buggy it could be a pain.
The rooms are lovely, we stayed in the village and the ground floor room was split level. Not very toddler friendly and there are steps going to the rooms.
Really clean place, very safe and secure. Kids club and activities are fantastic. Baby kitchen open 24hours and has microwaves, sterilisers, free milk (carton), food processors, high chair. Take your own bottle brush though, also little plastic bowls so you can take food from restaurant and blitz in the blender. Staff are so friendly and helpful.
Downside is the beach, it is pebbly and I recommend beach shoes to go into the sea.
The drinks can be expensive and since its all on a card that you settle at the end you can lose track.
Our tip - settle your account at least twice in your stay.
We had a little noise first week second week it was very noisy when it got busy.We found we started going to Olu Deniz a few times at night for meals as they got a bit boring and cold as it was buffet style.
The Italian restaurant was a bit ott and was not very busy as a result,very poor choice too .The restaurants also moved about the buffet areas so that limited your choices too.Pools were cold but were varied and our daughter loved the childrens pools but again cold.
It was only £4 to Olu Deniz so not too far out but you could feel isolated sometimes.The entertainment though was brilliant and varied .
Well done to the entertainment team.
| said: We spent 2 weeks recently 20 Sept-4 Oct 04. Overall the village was pretty impressive. I think the good points are well stated by others so i'll stick to the negative points. Whatever you do, DO NOT book with either ARCHERS DIRECT or COSMOS. We arrived to find that they had booked us into a small room rather than the family room we wanted and thought we booked. We had to pay a premium to the resort to get a room that fit the whole family and ofcourse they denied all knowedge. The rep tried to persuade us against doing any activities that involved any degree of risk (for insurance purposes ofcourse) but i later learned that most activities (inc paragliding) were indeed quite safe. The kids club was badly managed by frustrated and overworked staff and it really showed as many children refused to stay there alone. One of our kids ran away from the group and was found taking their cloths off in preparation for going into a pool on her own. Lykia sells itself as a kiddie freindly resort but basic safety precautions are no where to be found e.g. all balcones have low railings, childrens areas not fenced off, no lifeguards etc.. Additionally the rep also mentioned that he wouldn't let his child stay in the kids club... oh dear... can't complain overall, i did get the opportunity to spend a lot of time with my kids in the end
| said: Hi to all Lykia converts, we are back off to this great resort for our third time on 15th september 2005 less than 2 weeks away(cant wait)this place is great, food is amazing, fresh, the sweets(deserts)(puddings)are amazing, freshly cooked pizzas, fresh fish etc etc.
The rooms are good the best rooms to go in are the family rooms, DO NOT BOOK GARDEN ROOMS and if you travel with Thomas Cooks get them to ring customer services to verify the room you are in is not a garden room, THE GARDEN ROOMS ARE TERRIBLE.
We have booked the residence this year for a change. A word of advice all drinks are on a card system get the reception to check the card is empty on your arrival and make sure the room phone bill has been deleted from the previous guest as we had drinks on our card we hadn't had and 2 phone calls to the room all we didn't use and we didnt pay for, my advice is check your card every 2 days and phone bill.
Also if you have kids watch out for the kids club saying your kids have made t shirts YOU GET CHARGED FOR THESE tell the kids club staff you don't want t shirts and reception.
There are 2 childrens restaurants, village restaurant (free)residence restaurant(free) marina restaurant (free).then la luna(italian)* mandarin(chinese)* sofra(turkish)*neptune(seafood)*these four have a reservation charge of about 4 euros but are worth it even if you only go once(we went to italian 4 times).
The kids club is fantastic-opens 6-2 years 09.00-1200 15.00-1800 1930-2230(free)2-7 years 09.00-1830 1930-2230(free) 8-12 years 0900-1830 1930-2230(free)13-18 years 1100-2400(free)are you all still awake?
Archery is great and free, canoes are free, the childrens paradise is a paradise for children in itself and the free bus drops you outside the entrance,the resort is so big it has 2 buses, 19 tennis courts the list is endless.
Take beach shoes/aqua socks as it is a shingle/sand beach.
Well i'll leave it there before you all nod off have a good time when you go and I hope I have been of help to you all, Dave and family.
We spent most of the time at the Childrens' Paradise which was great for kids of all ages, but also has some quiet garden areas for the adults to lounge around in the peace and quiet. We found the drinks expensive - having been used to all inclusive this came as a bit of a shock. The only criticism would be the mosquitos! Everyone was bitten to death - and the usual UK anti-bite products have no effect. If you go, and if you get bititen go in to the town and visit the witch doctor - he'll cure you! Alternatively take lavender oil with you and cover yourself in this before venturing out in the evening. Other than that, the hotel is lovely, clean and the food is good. You do need to plan ahead though and book the restaurants otherwise you end up eating in the main buffet style restaurant which is not that great. We escaped a lot of the time down to the town and ate there instead of in the hotel.
The pools are really nice, and the jetskis are fantastic! It is so much fun there. So if you are planninng to go to Turkey, You should stay here!
We spent most of our time at the adults only Oasis Pool which is situated on the cliff edge with beautiful views, a lovely peaceful atmosphere and very friendly and helpful staff at the bar. We love the Marina Restaurant where even the fussiest eater will find something they like. Our room was lovely, in Patara, very clean and comfortable, definitely 4*. My husband and I spent our honeymoon at a well known All Inclusive resort in St Lucia for which we paid twice the price yet we would choose Lykia World over that every time. Our only, very small, criticism this year was that it was sometimes difficult for our largish party to find a table for dinner despite many of the larger tables only having two people sitting at them. Perhaps they could allocate an area for larger parties only. We will definiely go back next year!!
| said: A fantastic family holiday, living up to the recommendations by numerous friends who had previously visited. We were in adjoining standard rooms in the Residence, giving us 2 of everything (TV,fridge/bar/shower), which meant we were never on top of one another and there was always room to chill out away from the kids occasionally!
We found the restaurants excellent (particularly the Marina) the pool areas all superb, giving you the choice of a noisy day at the Paradise, or a quieter day at the other hotel pools. Lykia World's slightly remote location sometimes means you can feel a bit trapped, but a visit and dinner in Olu Deniz or Hisaronu every few days cures that.
One small tip - if you want to go to Fethiye, the Lykia World taxis will almost match the cost of taxi/bus or tour operator options, so if you fancy being more in control of your day/evening without added cost, do ask the taxi drivers for a quote.
Overall, a fabulous holiday, and one we intend to repeat in the next few years.
| said: I would recommend Lykia World but feel the need to advise 1st timers of the problems we encountered.
We stayed in the village but I thought I had booked an interconnecting room which I checked with Thomas Cook before the holiday. We ended up with a family room which had two beds (which were two couches made up as beds although totally adequate) in one room and a double bed with couch made up in the other room. I went to get it changed but was told I couldn't do as fully booked and was in the room the operators had booked. There were other families with the same complaint, in rooms differing from that which they thought they had booked. The most complaints came from people booked in Garden Rooms.
To overcome this we turned the beds around and there was enough room for the three girls to sleep together.
After the initial dissapointment, the room itself was excellent with plenty of room for the 5 of us, walk in wardrobe, and a walk in shower.
I would say the kids clubs did need some attention. OK for older children who did not need so much supervision. But my 3 year old twins would not stay in clubs. The English speaking staff were not good enough for the youngsters, and there were not enough of them. They also spent much of the time sorting out equipment for the activity which they should have had prepared (In my opinion).
That said I would definitely go back when the children are older the place has alot to offer with plenty for the children to do in and out of the clubs.
I would agree with most of the other reports about the food being good with alot of variety.
Beach not so good for youngsters, but you don't really need it as they have a small man made beach pool for the little ones.
Evening entertainment was "European" everything is repeated in 3 or 4 languages and can become tiresome after a few nights.
SAFETY was an issue when my supervised son accidently smashed a large glass window in the games room whilst playing pool. The glass broke all around him and cut his sweat shirt. It could have been a great deal worse.
The management were concerned for his health but when they saw he was ok they wanted £60 towards the cost of replacement. This went on for several days and spoilt the end of our holiday. We refused to pay.
The only people I would not recommend a holiday here to is those with mobility problems or very small children, as Lykia World is situated literally on the side of a mountain, and as others have pointed out, it is not very disabled-friendly.
There are no lifts to any of the restaurants, and they all have to be accessed either up steps, a ramp or a very steep incline; as do the toilets. Fine perhaps if you are in a motorised buggy, but hard work if you are pushing a pram or a wheelchair or carrying small children.
Although there is a mini bus service which goes around the site fairly regularly, be warned that it stops at 7pm.
They are called standard but they are large, clean and 4*. they are two adjoining rooms,single front door leading into a hall with two inner doors which lead into separate rooms which are identical - large bedroom with lounge area, balcony, large ensuite bathrrom and toliet. Floors are all tiles which are cleaned everyday as are the towels etc. The garden rooms are basic but still clean etc. All the rooms are airconditioned. This visit we stayed in the junior suite in the Residence which was large, clean and 5*, more central to all the facilities. the Junior suite had a large lounge with a single bed, ensuite WC + shower room, settee, tv etc. and balcony, door into separte huge bedroom with tv, which had a dressing area and huge bathroom with jacuzzi, double shower, wc etc.
Lykia world has it all, pools galore, restaurants galore approx 7 all with beautiful views - food is wonderful cooked fresh in front of you, childrens activities,creche, cinema, theatre, adults activities, adult only pools, naturist area, beauty salon, tennis courts, wall climbing, scuba diving, aerobics, belly dancing, running club,shopping arcade, medical centre etc. etc. Staff are friendly, complex is huge and kept spotless - nothing is too much trouble. I cannot fault it and will definitely be a return visitor again! 10/10!! I must confess I cried on the last day as I didn't want to leave!
I visited this hotel in June 2003 with my fiance, we travelled with First Choice. We even paid more than we budgeted for to go to this place as our first choice, the Turquoise hotel in Side was not available.
When we arrived at 3pm our room wasn't ready for another hour, there were 6 receptionists in all, none spoke a word of English. So we waited in the baking sunshine with nowhere to change our clothes. When we eventually got into our Village room it was so disgusting and dirty and dingy we asked to be moved to the Residence side. After looking at more rooms we settled on one overlooking the pool.
Far too many kids, (we went before school holiday time so didn't expect most families to have already have taken them away) and the whole complex is tacky and badly laid out, there is one signpost from what I saw. The two most hilarious things are 'the beach?!!!!!' (a cliff edge with builders' sand dusted over it and deck chairs strewn about) and the Marina 'if you're not German don't even bother coming' restaurant. We found that we were always spoken to in German first and to discover that we were British the Turks turned their noses up and resorted to saying very little or nothing at all.
Another fantastic idea of Lykia World was 'you don't pay for the food but my word do we rip you off for wanting a drink, never mind just hand over your card' system, and the terribly out of tune drunk guy who stood up on the Residence stage every night at 10.30 and belted his lungs out in some unheard of language til way past midnight.
The only 3 good things about the place are, the Italian restaurant (which not surprisingly, you have to pay extra for) the Blue Lagoon adults only pool (heaven and peace and quiet) and the indoor pool.
To sum up, Lykia World is quite frankly Hell on Earth at a hefty price
Ups.... definatly the food, the pools, the cleanliness, the friendlyness... & so much space (which at times could also be a down side). The donkey & the camel.
Downs....transfer from the airport, kids paradise could do with a bit of modernising and some sunny areas for the parents. Village rooms bit on the dark, dingy side (but clean and fairly spacious.) If you are not into caberet shows then you may find the entertainmet in the evening limited ...all thats left to do is drink...did I say that was a down side?
Overall..great place and would definatly go back....
Five stars - *****
Nothing Better Than Lykia, Have To Go To Know What It Feels Like.
Would stay there if I could.
Stayed in the residence - which was clean & excellent facilities in roon - some people that we spoke too complained of the 'village' accomodation not being 4* (& I would agree - having seen a selection).
Food was generally good with plenty of variety - tough some unusual surprises(& variety of restaurants - didn't have to pay extra for speciality ones - unless you went more than once during stay). Though i must say that food generally wasn't as good as the previous hotel (4* AI)we had stayed at (which from our point of view had a lower * - as LW residence was 5* then. The 'snack bars' served the usual - which our daughter tended to prefer
We did get a bit 'stir crazy' during first week - as it is isolated - compared to what we had been used too - but it was cheap enough to get a Taxi & travel about. As meals were available most of the day & night if u were budgeting then this was a bonus if u missed 'normal' meal times when u did go out. Despite this there was plenty to explore on the complex - with 'trains'to get the less able or less patient about & we didn't avail ourselves of all the facilities e.g. the indoor pool, gym & the general fitness center (outdoour)not the two 'adults' only pools (given we had a daughter under 18). The Pirate's children's pool complex was enjoyed by us all & although we didn't access other aspects (e.g. the childrens club which taught judo for example) we were aware that they were there & those children we observed using the facilitities seemed to be enjoying themselves
Drinks bought outside of meal times were very expensive, as was water - we found it cheaper to get a taxi to Olu Deniz & Domus to Hissonru - buy water, pop & spirits there - then back by same method. Although it was obvious that staff knowledge & whole system was geared to German tourists we found the staff to be friendly & helpful & if they couoldn't speak English themselves they would find someone who did
The entertainment wasn't much however - except for the fireworks display - we found it bland & amateurish (compared to that put on by the team from our previous hotel stay in Turkey) except when they brought in outside entertainers - who tended to put on traditional Turkish entertainment' (aleways been a culture vulture - even if it is a bit staged) but our daughter (12) enjoyed it - as apparently did many of the other guests
