We booked this hotel through Med Hotels-£170 for the room for 2 weeks including breakfast and air conditioning.

The hotel is situated towards the back of the resort just off the main road as it starts to curve upwards and incline more steeply.

We found the location ideal as it was just a few minutes stroll to the seafront and main area of Olu and there was no noise from nearby hotels. There was also a couple of mini markets nearby as well as some good restaurants and cheaper bars.

You get issued with a credit card which you can use to charge food/drink to your room account though we never actually used it, preferring to pay cash as we go.

Our room was ground floor in block 1 overlooking the garden/pool area.

The rooms were reasonable size as was the bathroom although the balcony was small-just big enough for a couple of chairs.

There were 2 single beds and they were a bit firm but not too bad. The room was cleaned every day and the sheets and towels changed every day and we were very happy with the general cleanliness of the room and hotel itself.
The shower worked fine and there was always hot water when we wanted it.

The pool was medium sized and very clean as was the pool area.

There were plenty of free sunbeds/parasols
available and we never had a problem getting a sunbed any time of the day despite some people putting towels on loungers at the crack of dawn or even the night before!

Breakfast was typical Turkish with toast, bread, jams, cheeses, tomatoes, cereal, eggs, tea, coffee and juice available each day. The hotel restaurant also did snacks and evening meals although we never actually ate in the hotel other than breakfast.

There was a pool bar and lounging area with large screen tv, a pool table and table tennis table.

Drinks in the bar were about the same as along the seafront (Large draft beer 5ytl, local spirits 7 ytl, imported spirits 10ytl). Cocktails were expensive at 12ytl and quite small. They did have 2 happy hours most nights though when all alcoholic drinks were half price.

The staff weren't the friendliest we have encountered in Turkey but we didn't have any real problems with any of them.

We did get approached a few times at breakfast to sign up for the weekly Turkish night, or Sunday roast night, or specials night and did feel slighly hassled when we had to explain why when we declined!

Apart from that minor niggle we really enjoyed our stay at the Montebello.

For the amount we paid we were not expecting anything more than 'basic but clean' but The Montebello exceeded our expectations and we would definitely stay here again if/when we return to Olu Deniz.

Fairly typical Turkish Breakfast although there are often cold meats which were missing and the eggs werent good.

Small but comfortable rooms cleaned every day. Ours faced onto the bottom of the main road which wasnt ideal, it states 'garden view' and Im glad my garden isnt that busy.

A few problems with the shower but only minor gripes really. Set at the bottom of the bak a 5 minute walk from the beach and 15 or so to the lagoon where we spent most of our time.

The reps 'market' excursion seemed cheap, only £8 for a full day including lunch and a visit to the abandoned village but it was cheap because they spent the whole day dragging us around their mates shops flogging tat. Dont bother, if you want to see the lost village you can walk it from Olu. Turkish baths were good though.

Hotel staff were fine but not the friendliest I have seen in Turkey. You get a 'credit' card for any purchases in the hotel but they were just as happy to accept cash.

All in all a pretty ok hotel in beautiful Olu Deniz. Only paid £170 each so wasnt expecting that much.

The rooms that we stayed in were of good size and standard, but could be cleaned a little more often, the towels were not changed everyday neither were the sheets.

The breakfast was lovely and freshly prepared every morning.

The bar staff were the friendliest people in the hotel, they made our stay 3 times better. They are constantly making you feel at home and at ease, as you should do on your holiday.

I would definitely stay in this hotel again and again if the staff stayed the same and the cleaning was improved a little.

on arrival taken to room by bar staff, who helped with cases. on first appearances the room looked spotless, lovely comfortable beds, T.V. and best of all free air conditioning.

Good bathroom with hair dryer and power shower, hot water all day. Then we looked under the bed, there must have been a years dust under there. The room we had was at the back of block C facing the main road, but at no time where we bothered by traffic.

The pool area was lovely, but could have been hosed down a bit more regularly. Plenty of sunbeds to go around. The bar staff where hard working and very friendly, as where the restaurant staff.

The food here was fairly good especially the Turkish breakfast, always freshly in all not a bad little hotel, but it has to be said its seen better days.

The only downside was the price of photographs from the Turkish night,£3 each a bit steep. Olu Deniz is lovely and the lagoon is paradise.

We have stayed next door to the Montebello and up the hill from it, it always got good reports and we thought it looked nice so this year we managed to get in.

The welcome was fine and they took us to our room which was clean and basic, same as most others but the free aircon was a real boon. The hot water was only really available late afternoon onwards but we are used to this from previous years. The shower was prone to overflow, it was very powerful, the bathroom floor had a drain and it eventually drained away - no real problem.

The beds were made up every day but unfortunately the towels and sheets were not changed with the regularity we would have liked. Sheets and pillowcase maybe three times and towels possibly three times (in two weeks!) - the dirty towels were folded up and put on the bed! We did find the clean towel cupboard and replaced the towels ourselves once or twice! The cleaners did pay particular attention to the bathrooms but the bedroom wasn't swept properly while we were there.

The general grounds and pool were fairly pleasant, though we do not tend to live around the pool much. One thing we did notice is this hotel was probably 90% British as opposed to other hotels we have stayed in that had a wider mix of nationalities. This was very evident in the towels on the sunbeds around the pool at the crack of sparrows.

We found the balcony a little too small and our room was the last in the block next to the bar area. This was our main gripe in that the bar music was played with a lot of bass so it made our room thump. When they had entertainment on the terrace, they placed a massive speaker right outside our balcony, this made the room positively bounce, it was not pleasant at all.

They did make an attempt with food but we ate out mainly, we did eat in one night for the Turkish night and the food was fine. Breakfast was excellent as the Turkish breakfast always is, though not all the British seemed to think this and many a comment was heard regarding a fry up.

Basically the hotel was fine, staff friendly and polite, a little more attention to the changing of bedding and towels and a room nowhere near the bar would have been advantageous.

We have just returned from a two week family holiday to the Montebello hotel, and have really enjoyed it.

Hotel spotless, rooms cleaned daily with clean towels etc.hotel staff very helpful and friendly.

Food basic but of a good standard and always fresh.

The location is ideal about five minutes from everything.

Beach is lovely but the lagoon is better and very safe for children. Down the main street you will find bars and restaurants all over the place try captain hooks really good and real chicken nuggets for the kids.

Overall this was our first visit to Turkey and won't be the last we would definitely come to this resort again, very cheap very friendly people and lots to do. Try jeep safari with express, don’t book any trips with your reps walk down street book direct half the price.

No hotel entertainment but will serve you all night.

We had a lovely 2 week holiday staying here.

The breakfast does get a bit boring as it's Egg's, bread, Olives, Tomato etc.

Our room was clean as was all areas of hotel. We had clean towels every day.

We ate a few times on a lunchtime here and found the food to be nice.

The location of hotel is near a busy road which could be heard from the room but we always take ear plugs so this did not bother us.

All the staff were lovely and friendly.

There was only entertainment one night which was a BBQ, belly dancer, and 2 other dance acts. I would recommend this night BUT during the show raffle tickets are sold for gold jewellery if your ticket "wins?" you have to be picked up in a coach the following day to go to the gold centre to pick up your prize where they try to get you to upgrade your prize.

There was quite a lot of noise from the bar until 4am some mornings which disturbed some guests. So take ear plugs.

We would stay here again.

Wow this hotel was fab. I loved it and was so so sad to be going home. to start with id like to say that the staff were great, the bar staff were very entertaining, I just hope that they'll be there next year when I come. I didn't get there names but I'm sure I'll recognise them.

Secondly Monty and Deano. . .
I can't even explain how much I fell in love with them ! If only we could have brought them home in my suitcase!(joke!) those two dogs were certainly unique!

The swimming pool was very nice and perfect for the continuous sunny days and the breakfast was small but pleasing.

The bar is good for sitting down on those warm evenings with a big blazing fire and a cuppa and a book, whilst amusing over the bar staff, they made me laugh! This was the best holiday I have ever been on and hopefully we will be back in May. Its definitely made an impact on me see you soon montebello x x !

The hotel is very clean rooms are basic (that’s fine you only sleep there ) and clean TV in the room with English channels.

New towels every day and bed linen every 3rd day.

It’s about 4mins walk to the beach, all on the level so no hills.

Plenty of young lads to help around the hotel pool and bar area. The best entertainment are the 2 hotel dogs if you have been you will know what I mean if not just visit and see them zzzzzzz

The Hotel Montebello beach was a fantastic place to stay it was freindly and welcoming, and only after a few days we began to feel like part of the furniture.

The staff were extremely freindly and always ready to help. The rooms were well equipped (however the bathroom only had a shower, which wasn't great for the little washing you may need to do But that wasn't a problem).

We went as an optional half board basis, this was fine as long as you go out occaisionally for dinner,as it could become a little boring as it did not cater for english tastes at all, this was because the hotel clients were a majority turkish. Infact we were the only english family to go half board, but we are not that much of fussy eaters so it was great for us.

The pool was great our daughter was the only one in it at times as most of the turkish went to the beach during the day which meant no shortage of sunbeds.

Arrived late on a Friday at The Montebello. It is just about the first hotel you come to when you arrive in Olu Deniz from the road down from Hisaronu. We were met by the hotel welcoming committee in the driveway - the resident hotel boxer dog !! It looked quite ferocious but it turned out to be the softest dog you could ever come across.

In reception we were quickly allocated rooms – we had no forms to fill in or passports to leave so our cases were taken to our rooms by the hotel staff. The hotel has about 85 rooms in 3 blocks – 2 blocks by the pool and one set further back. We were in block 1 which I thought was the best one to stay in. It was one facing the pool but set slightly back and a lot of greenery shielded it from the pool so it was more private and quieter than the one nearer the pool. But to be honest we would have happy with any of the rooms because it was not a noisy hotel.

The rooms themselves were small and basic but clean. As is usual with this kind of accommodation storage space is limited but you tend to manage and make the best of it. The rooms also have a television with various satellite channels on it. Whilst we were there they had BBC World, Euro News and a music video channel along with the usual Turkish channels, but channels did tend to come and go during our stay. The rooms also have excellent air conditioning – which is a must at this time of year. Once it is turned on the rooms cool down quickly, it is also free which is not always the case in a lot of hotels. The power in the room is activated by the key card being put in a slot so when you go out you cannot keep the power on so therefore you cannot keep the air conditioning on. In some hotels with this system you can usually just put some other credit card size card in the slot to keep the power on but they have got wise to this here and the slot is a different size and has to have some kind of electrical contact to make it work. But it was never a problem as I said before the rooms cool down quickly once the air con is turned on.

The maids come every day to clean the room and they always seem to know if you are in your room or not as we were not woken up once by them asking to clean the room ( no do not disturb cards ), we often got up later so the maid always came to the room in the afternoon. All the public areas are also kept very clean, tables in the bar and restaurant are cleaned as soon as people leave so in general the hotel always has a nice clean appearance to it.

The hotel itself is in a very picturesque setting surrounded by mountains and greenery. It is at the back of the resort by the road to Hisaronu, very convenient for the dolmus. It was mainly couples or families that stayed here and there was quite a good atmosphere round the poolside. The pool at the hotel is of a decent size and does get quite busy. There are lots of sunbeds with mattresses and shades and most tended to get taken by about 11am, but there was always a few available even in to the afternoon ( for us late risers ). This was in July but not sure what it may be like in August. The pool always had lots of airbeds and rubber rings etc. floating about for anybody to use – which kept the kids amused! I think guests buy them in resort and just leave them there for anybody that wants to use them. There is also a shallow pool for the children. Also at 4pm it is cake time by the pool, two of the waiters wheel a trolley full of fantastic looking cakes around the pool area for guests to buy. This proves very popular with the guests – no surprise that, going by the size of the portions. I did not give in to temptation as I doubt I would have been able to eat anything else for the rest of the day.

There is a nice bar area at the Montebello which is good place to have a drink at any time of day. It was 3.5m lira for a large Efes which was just slightly more than the bars in the resort. They also had regular offers on cocktails such as half price at certain times. I never saw it close but I’m sure it must do at some time, probably the early hours of the morning. There are also tables inside and outside near the pool set for dinner and snacks. The food was good although we mainly just had snacks. They had an extensive menu for evening meals and seemed very popular considering the competition they have from all the restaurants in the resort. The only time we ate in was at The Turkish Barbeque which cost £10. This was very good value as it also included the entertainment ( belly dancing ) if you liked that kind of thing. It did not really suit me as I did not like the mezes – 25 of them. Also it said dessert was included but only melon was available.

The staff in the hotel were very friendly and polite and the service was very good. The reception staff were also very good, any problems were immediately attended to. We had a very squeaky bathroom door which if you went to the bathroom in the night would wake the other person up ( and probably next door too ) but within 24 hours it had new hinges and problem solved. A couple of other minor problems were also put right within minutes. One thing reception will not do though is ring for transport to take you to the beach. The telephone numbers can be obtained from your rep though and we rang from the room and we did not get charged for them when we checked out.

Going back to the hotel boxer dog, it is not only very soft it is the sleepiest dog you will ever come across. You will find it asleep in every part of the hotel but even if you wake it as you go by it just blinks a bit and goes back to sleep – maybe it has got the right idea in that heat . In fact on one day it was asleep in the safe room and one guest who had just arrived was afraid to go in but I said it was okay and we both went in and got to our safes perched over the dog who just got on with his usual sleep. But then after nearly 2 weeks of him being very placid I was just outside reception when he noticed a cyclist going up the road and went absolutely berserk ! It was a good thing there was a fence between him and the dog. He then went back to his calm self – it was very funny.

This hotel is officially a 2* and you will find it very difficult to come up with a better 2* anywhere else and I would not hesitate to go back.
