| said: This was the 4th time we have stayed at this hotel. The last four years to be precise. We have always found it to be very clean, with the rooms and public areas cleaned daily. The food is good, could do with a bit more variation, although the pasta and pizzas cooked to order are great. As are the pancakes in the aft!!!!
The staff could not be more helpful or friendly, tip them well and you are onto a winner. We had personal service throughout the hols.
The location is great and there is a supermarket just down the road which is very cheap for any extras you may need.
The long walkway out to the sea is great, fantastic walk and great way to top up the tan and when you get to the end brilliant snorkling!!!!
We love it at this hotel and have booked up already for next year!!!

| said: On arrival at the Royal Albatros Moderna Sham El Sheik the hotels first appearence looked good.An armed guard was always in place at the entrance of the hotel and guards were always in place at the main entrance out on the road. We booked rooms with sea views which are not what they promisevery little could be seen of the sea so dont waste your money, so we were moved back up into the quiet part of the hotel near the relaxtion pool or as they have a sign relaxion pool. This was cleaned everyday without fail so we were impressed although the man cleaned it at betwwen 9am and 1pm so he was often in the way with the very long equipment.security men were always on patrol in force every evening and dealt very well with some troublesome drunking youths a few rooms from us who were thrown out of the hotel the next evening after threatening some guests in the queit lounge.
The chap who cleaned our room was very good and looked forward to the few dollars we gave him each morning. A few dollars always secured extra bottles of water which you will need when you get ill from the food served up. The food looked resonable and some intresting choices>all four of us were ill with trots from the second day one of us was ill for 8 days out of the 14 booked. for the rest of the holiday all we heard from other guests was how ill they were or had been including children all with stomach cramps diaorea and sickness.when we reported these facts to the rep he claimed it was the first he had been told about it and so we reported it to the reception who after discussing what to say also said nobody else had reported the illness's.The pharmacy at the hotel stated he was running of of medicines for diaorea but still charged £15 for each medicine issused. It was clear that the hygiene of the people preparing food and serving food was in question. When tables were being relayed we saw forks and knives being dropped on the floor and put back on the tables without changing them for clean ones.Flies are a constant problem and although they were not biting they were a pest around foor and the body while sitting eating or sunbathing.
One guest reported that while being served meat by a chef the chef turned and spat into a bin beside him we did not witness this.
Food certainly looked as though it was reused at later meal times meaning the meals were warmed up again.
We could not wait to get out of the hotel and home. The piano bar was a joke the girl playing was each night doing a copy of Les Dawsons famous joke but she thought she could play but was rubbish. We will never go again and will not recommend the hotel of Egypt for a holiday. Its obvious that they have not a clue in service and food hygene as everyone we spoke to was or had been ill.The offers of going to see the pyramids etc was a joke.People were reporting being away for 24 hours and being on buses for 19 of them without water and broken toilets. Some booked flights and found that they were on different flights sometimes 2 to 3 hours betwwen flights so out of a party of four three were there 2 to 3 hours before the forth member meaning they were booked to come back without the forth member.
Do bother to book these as you may be dissapointed.
We did not go into the local town as bad reports were fed back by horrified female guests being intimitatedand asked for sex even with thier men folk
Eygpt no thankyou anymore but if you feel you must find out for yourselves do so at your peril. The supermarket outside the hotel is a third cheaper than the shops in the hotels so be warned

| said: this was by far the worst hotel i have ever stayed in, meant to be 5 star i am afraid it should only be 2 star. the food was disgusting so bad that most people had food poisoning, then the hotel pharmacy ripped you off charging £15 for tablets, when in fact prescription medicne in egypt is usually dirt cheap. the location was in the middle of nowhere surrounded by building work. the staff were rude, the entertainment diabolical. pool had human poo in it, food was also recycled the next day. the ground of the hotel were so dark i sustained a badly sprained ankle.

| said: The Albatros Moderna is one of the cleanest hotels we have stayed in, ALL the staff were very friendly, and couldnt do enough to help you, Muhammed at the beach bar (which was GREAT!) looked after my family so well we all wanted to bring him home with us. Some good advice is to tip the waiters at the start of the holiday and you will not have to do a thing after that. To all you men, take a pint glass with you and give it to Sharkey(hotel bar) or Muhammed (beach bar), then every time you go to the bar you will have a pint waiting for you! but they will expect to keep the glass at the end of your holiday. The pool and area is great, but watch out for the russians, i dont think they go to bed at night as their tales are on the sunbeds so early. The food was excellent, lots to choose from especially cakes and cocktails. Me and my son Joe 13 had pharoh's revenge, but my husband and other son Jack 15 and daughter Megan 12 had nothing, but we all ate the same.

| said: Oh my god where do i start? I suppose in a word excellent. The hotel was spotless, the food was very nice and the staff were helpful and very friendly.
The entertainment was as good as you would expect to get if you were going out for the night into Sharm, all in all I could'nt find any faults with the hotel or staff although I did get a bad dose of the Pharoh's revenge, but a visit to the pharmacy in the hotel sorted me out after a day and I think it was the heat rather than the food because the rest of our party had the same food as me and were OK so remember to drink loads of water and ease up on the alcohol.
I give 9 out of 10. Definitely going back and also if I were you I would look for Yasser straight away he's a tour rep and will organise all your trips for you. He's a gentleman and he really put himself out for us. It would'nt have been the same holiday if not for him. You will find him going around by the pool everyday. If I were you I would book all my trips with him because he will rearrange trips if your sick or anything like that again 10 out of 10.

| said: We booked this hotel because of the reviews we read on this site and were not disappointed.
We have just returned from the Albatros moderna in Sharm and it was fantastic. What can I say very spacious bedrooms, big bathroom and like the hotel everywhere was spotless, food excellent and loads of choice, staff friendly and helpful, hotel beach great as were pools.
Only down side beds were quite hard.
I would definatly recommend this hotel.
Laundry service good and cheap, hotel spa was excellent - £33 for 1 + 1/2 hour treatment - trips ok. My husband and sons went on quad bike trip at hotel - excellent and if you want to try diving or snorkeling go to Sharks Bay - £5 in taxi or go with hotel - about £15 but you get transport and loungers - my sons went diving and loved it. I went snorkeling and its like swimming in the finding nemo film it is truely unbelievable.
Tip - use the taxi's/buses outside the hotel 1/2 the price - bus £3 taxi £5 for a family of 4 to Naamma bay - great shopping and bazzars.

| said: Hi we have just returned from our holiday in Sharm el sheikh. Staying in the the hotel Royal Callimera Moderna, this hotel is fantastic I could not get over how clean the hotel was, the staff were cleaning 24-7 during our stay, & it was cleaned with pride, our room was cleaned on a daily basis the nets were taken down one day put back up the next day, the rug on the floor was dry cleaned the room was sprayed with air freshner every day it was a large twin bedded room with a very large bathroom with bath & shower.
The food was excellent with plenty to choose from during the day you could eat inside in the red sea restaurant, or eat outside at the pool bar or the beach bar, we prefered the beach bar which served freshly baked pizza.
The staff were so friendly & helpfull, I tipped most nights just a couple of quid a time for this they were most grateful quite often bringing the drinks to the table the red sea restaurant at night was excellent with plenty of choice there was also a pasta bar were you chose your meal & the chef cooked it before you the reason I only gave the food score 4 was a few more English type dishes would have been nice, as the restaurant seemed to cater mainly for the Russians & the Germans.
On the entertainment score I couldn't really comment because we did not go down to see it, having said that the reports we got off people that did go, it wasn't up to much.
While I was there I took a 4 day diving course with med holidays the company was called aquarius, the cost was £219 which is slightly more expensive than other dive clubs, but having done the course with them you can see why it is more expensive, we done 2 reef dives from the shore & 3 boat dives, which is a lot more than other clubs.
The club is run very professional, our instructor was a lovely Italian lady called Mariliana, she was brilliant, she certainly knew her stuff.
As part of my job back in the uk I use breathing eqipment on a regular basis, and all of the safety checks we carry out as a mines rescue team, are carried out by the aquarius diving club. So I would not hesitate to recommend them, by the way the diving is fantastic.
I will be visiting this hotel again. I brought home several brochures to give to friends.
The only down side to the holiday, was we both suffered tummy upsets we couldnt pin it down to anything, like I said the hotel was imaculate, various people mentioned the air con of which we had on all night others mentioned cold drinks but this would not put me off visiting again.
I also forgot to mention they have a courtesy bus which runs 3 times a day to naama bay.

| said: We've just returned from an amazing holiday at this hotel. We stayed all inclusive and I can honestly say that the food was delicious - not once did I leave food on my plate. Breakfast was really good - you could choose your own filling for omelettes which the chef's would whip up in front of you, different cereals, sausages, pancakes, yoghurts, fruit, croissants etc. Lunch could be anything from a bbq at the pool bar with a variety of meats, chicken, fish, potatoes, vegetables to beautiful cream cakes and ice creams to pizza, fries, a Schewema which could be beef or chicken on a soft bread roll, from the beach bar - delicious!! Evening meals consisted of plenty of different varieties to choose from with a themed night on most nights. Usually 2 different soups, many different types of bread rolls, meat dishes, chicken dishes, pastas, salads, health conscious section, oriental section, a carvery, fish and the deserts where to die for - and talk of varieties - loads!! We did try the Toscani restaurant and once again I thoroughly enjoyed me meal, however my partner, sister and her husband didn;t really rate theirs. It cost 32 Euros for 4 which was good but personnally the food in the Red Sea restaurant was better!
The hotel was exceptionally clean, floors constantly being mopped and buffed, windows cleaned, even the swimming pool (commenting on non-active as this is where we spent our time) was cleaned constantly during the day - filters being emptied, tiles being wiped etc - but this did not cause disruption to us. Ahmed the guy round the pool was so friendly.
Although there is of yet no other hotel open and operating close by, the location was wonderful. Right on the beach which although very gravily so take good aqua shoes or similar - was beautiful with a jetty approximately 450 metres long. You could walk right out to the sea and at the end of the jetty could snorkell. However we found that if when you got to the beach you turned left and walked for about 20 mins following the path, over the gravel and round the bend, you came to a much better place to snorkell. The coral was wonderful and the fish there were spectacular. Definitely worth a visit!
The staff - what can I say - friendly, polite, go out of their way to do things for you. One waiter in particular was wonderful - Mohammed El Nashar at the Non active pool, he was just so geniuine and friendly, always smiling. We did tip quite generously as the service we recieved was excellent and as they are so badly paid, most of the staff make up their wages by tips they received. By the end of the week Mohammed knew all our names and often came over to us when we came down in the morning asking us if we'd like our usual drinks and fetching them to us rather than us going to the bar, he actually took offence if when we ordered from the bar we told him we'd take them back ourselves. He was so friendly, he called us his family. He also worked in the Red Sea restaurant in the evening until 9.30pm then upstairs in the Lobby bar until midnight. 16 hours a day this guy worked and never once did we hear him complain. He truly was a wonderful guy.
With regard to the entertainment, as this hotel was geared more towards the Germans, most of the entertainment was in German although they did translate most of it. During the day most of the action was round the Active pool but we preferred to stay by the quiet non active pool and relax. From what we did see of the daily entertainment programme it was very good. pool games were played, along with quizzes and even bingo I believe! There is a mini golf course which you pay extra for along with a big size chess board just before you get to the beach. There were scooters and mini quad bikes available at the beach for you to ride but sorry I don;t how much this cost as we never enquired. There is also a lovely big childrens play area with horses, slides, swings etc for the kiddies. We were told that although there is a kids club the staff spoke little or no English at all so this wouldn't really be suitable for English kids.
Upon arrival you receive a token that entitles you to 2 towels for the pool/beach, you must return your towels to the hut and get your token back each night. Lost tokens do incur a charge.
Overall this was a wonderful, relaxing holiday made possible by the beautiful hotel, and of course its wonderful staff. I'd definitely return to this hotel and highly recommend it.

| said: The food was very good, we could always find something that we liked, they tend to do different country themed nights. We also tried Toscani restaurant but not for the a la carte menu which they only give you 5 Euros discount, you can have the charcoal mixed grill for 5 Euros and this is excellent.
The hotel is very clean, there’s always someone cleaning somewhere or spraying for ants, we only saw the odd ant.
If you like to be near a town to stroll round then this hotel will be too far out for you but if you like a nice relaxing holiday you'll like it. There is a bus that runs 3 times a day.
There is an entertainment team and they are very good and do several productions including Cats (they mime) but is in English and mostly German.
We would visit this hotel again, in a couple of years there will be other hotels next to it as they are building now but this doesn't cause any problems.
If you like a quiet room ask for one round the non-active pool. We never had a problem getting a sun bed either round the pool or on the beach.
The staff are all lovely and if you're polite and smile they'll go out of their way to help you.

| said: Visited this hotel for Xmas and New year. Went with my parents, sister and 3 year old nephew. Hotel was spotless and very clean. Food wasnt bad but not 5 star. Let me re phrase that, the food was typical all inc food. The speciality restaurant for 5 euros is a must and you get loads, its very nice.
There are about 3 pools and wasnt hard to find a sunbed atall, entertainment was ok but mostly german.
The hotel built a huge marquee for xmas eve and new years eve and put all the guests in it for a gala dinner. The choice of food was amazing and desserts were out of this world. As our room was right opposite the marquee I could see how much effort they put into it and were building it for at least a week.
I would definately visit again - esp for xmas and new year! You are treated like royalty.

The hotel is extremely spacious and normally you can obtain a sun bed and umbrella whenever you want to without having to get up at a very early hour.
The staff were very friendly and there were excellent facilities there.
There was entertainment there most nights which took place in a specially designated area and not in the main hotel.
The food on the first occasion that we visited the hotel was not of a very good standard and we felt that more effort could have been made to make the meals better. As we however liked the hotel and the spaciousness of it we decided to return in November. Everything was fine again and for a winter break it was excellent and can say that the food had improved 100%.
Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

| said: We have just returned from our holiday and we had a fantastic time.
If there is any improvement to be made then its with the food, not much english type food. You can however eat in the Toscana restaurant where all inclusive guests receive food free upto 5 Euros, so you can get a free pizza if you want. Five of us ate in their one night and had starters and then Steaks and Chicken Steaks. The bill only came to £18 in total. You still get free drinks and salad.
The hotel has 3 swimming pools in total, one smaller heated pool, and two large pools. The main pool is the active pool where the animation team are and there is loud music, but the other large pool, (the non active pool) is fantastic. It has a special childrens section in the middle which is accessed by a bridge over the main pool, and fenced off so its totally safe for the smaller children. Here more classical music is played and is much quieter.
During the first week of our stay the hotel was busy finishing rooms around the non active pool, this did not cause any problems to us. Our rooms overlooked this pool and it was gorgeous. Your rooms are cleaned everyday and the hotel is spotless. They opened up another restaurant in this section of the hotel which eased the queues from the Red Sea restaurant which was the main restaurant We ate in the new restaurant most nights. The only problem was this new restaurant did not open for lunch so the queues were bigger at lunch time in the Red Sea. You can however eat at the main pool bar or the beach bar. The beach bar serves pizzas and hot and cold sandwiches and was the best for lunches.
The Magic Dive club operates from the hotel and Ahmed the instructor is very good. Taxi's to Naama bay cost 65LE (£6.50) each way with the Hotels Limo service. You can book the hotels Shuttle bus which runs each night at 8pm return 11pm or 9.30pm return 00.30am and this is free.
The waiters and staff were extremely pleasant to the English people, if you treat them with respect they treat you the same. There were a lot of Italians in the hotel, but the animation team made everyone feel welcome.
We stayed at the Hilton Sharks bay last year which was very good and the food was better hoever, what we liked about the Royal Albatros was that the hotel is so big and spacious. We did'nt have to get up at the crack of dawn to get a sunbed. You could get a sunbed and umbrella (which is a must) at any time of the day even though the hotel was full to capacity. With the choice of pools to choose from there is something for everyone.
You get free towels at all the pools and the beach. You also get free water and bottles of coke, orange or 7up in your room fridge each day. Tea and coffee is available all day and I can recommend the Cappacino even though the waiters hated making them. Ice cream is also availble all day.
We would definately go back to this hotel, we all had a fantastic time.
