Crete is wonderful and Koni village is great - the only area for concern was that the appt are build on a hill and the walk to the main resource - leave the heals at home :). Appt was very clean and spacious. staff are very friendly. Would go back to Koni.

We got lucky with our room as it was the first room in the first block (ie 101). We only had a little of 'the hill' to climb thank goodness. The Adults only chill out pool was a godsend, although we don't mind having children around we prefer peace and quiet on our holiday and love to read while sunbathing so this pool was ideal for us.
The room was very clean and maids came in every other day to clean and change sheets, towels etc. The airconditioning was bliss and as it was expensive we removed the magnet fob from our key and left it on all the time so the room was always cool. The only negative, there is no kettle or toaster in the rooms so making cups of tea/coffee were done using a milk pan.
The on site shop was well stocked and was only a little dearer so not worth lugging water and shopping from the resort. The hotel restaurant wasn't brilliant but ok if you didn't want to go into Stalis.
Not far to walk to the resort and the road isn't a problem as there is an underpass not far from the hotel then cut through at the side of Cactus Beach Hotel straight onto the beach road. Takes about 10mins.
We would definately stay at Koni again but only if we can have the same room - I couldn't do that hill everyday for two weeks!

Stayed in the Koni Village in August this year.

Complex was the cleanest we have ever stayed in .
Apartments were spotless, cleaned every other day, sheets and towels were changed every other day.

The hill is not that bad, it only takes two mins.

Stalis is only about 10 mins walk .
The road is busy but as long as you use common sense it's easy to cross.
They were building a new underpass by Cactus beach which will make it safer .

The staff were all very friendly and the food in the restaurant was good value and tasty.
Did specials once a week mousaka ,chicken etc with a glass of wine for 5 euros.
Litre of house wine 6-7 euros quite drinkable.

Pool got busy ,had to get up early to get a sunded but this was other holiday makers leaving towels and going out for the day.

Views over stalis fantastic, had 2 balconies which gave some privacy at night when kids had gone to sleep, could sit out and not disturb them.

Two internet access computers installed while we were here, fantastic for kids.

We stayed in the Koni village for 2 weeks in August and thought it was absolutely fantastic - we got a fantastic room and the view was brilliant.

Our Room was very clean, we got towels changed every second day and the room was left spotless every time. The cleaner is really nice and they definitely deserve tips!! The TV stations weren't that great we only had sky news, but at night there was a movie station that came on and the films were in English.

I definitely recommend the air con. it's cheap enough and the heat is unreal at times out here.

The shop staff were friendly and helpful, the prices were ok also....

We didn't eat much in the Koni but the meals we did have there were alright - I suppose!!

The location is ok they have built a new walkway across from the Cactus hotel, under the main road so there should be no problems about crossing it now! It's about 10 mins walk if even that to the main strip!

I would recommend the Koni village to any of my friends as we had a great time there.

The village is set up on a hill which is a bit of a trek but you can get round this by using the steps to the left of the complex. Only down side is the single track road at the entrance to the complex no pavements so not ideal for a stroll.

To get to the town or the beach you have a 10/15 Min walk during which you have to cross at times a very busy main road, this can be avoided by turning right once you leave the village use the underpass about 5 Min up the road. The rooms are basic with free Sat TV, fridge, and 2 ring hotplate(no Grill)AC can be paid for for about 60 euros a week.

Cleaned 3/4 times a week fresh laundry every 3/4 day. Staff are friendly enough, and helpful when asked. Did not take in any of the entertainment on offer so cant comment on it or the food as we eat out. 2 pools the large one can be very busy so we used the small one by the entrance both pools clean and no need to hog the sunbeds.

There was a lot of groups of younger holiday makers in the complex and one or two could get a bit out of hand as they returned home in the wee small hours. No clubs for the kids and only a very small kiddy pool, the ideal age for kids i would say 8/14.

Would I return well do not like to visit a resort twice but if we were to go back to the resort we would be hard pushed to find a better complex.

I stayed at this hotel in May with a friend. The rooms are very basic and I had to ask to have my mattress changed as the springs were poking through!

I asked the rep to sort it but she didn't bother however the hotel were quite good about it. We had a super room overlooking the sea and pool.

I don't think you could really self cater there as there are only two rings and a fridge. We only got a kettle the night before we left. We ate at the hotel once but it was not too good but there are loads of restaurants in Stalis which are very good.

The pool area was lovely and although it said the pool was not heated it did not seem cold and I used a lot as the temp was nearly 30 degrees.
Don't use the rep for a trip to Knossos as it only costs 9 euros all told on the two buses and is so easy to get around.

Do buy a phone card from the rep as they are really good value for 10 euros and last longer than the ones you buy in Britain.

It is quite a walk to the beach and the town and at the end of the week you know about it! But the road is not too bad and can be crossed quite easily.

The whole place is spotless and the staff are very helpful. The prices in the shop are 1 or 2 euros dearer than in the town but worth it not to carry stuff up the hill.

If you have children and pushchairs and a lot of stuff to carry back and forth to the beach be aware of the walk. I saw a lot of very tired Dads trudging up the hill!

I would stay there again but maybe further into the season when the hotel puts on some entertainment. the photos of the Cretan night looked good but it was not on when we were there.

Came back from the Koni village after an excellent holiday.

Rooms are very spacious and clean with most having fantastic sea and mountain views.

Location is just behind a busy main road, which is best crossed opposite the cactus hotel.

Swimming pool and bar area are very nice with a good menu for lunch and evening meals also occasional theme
nights.

Hotel staff are very friendly.

The hotel is on an incline but is not as bad as it looks.

Really enjoyed our stay here and will be coming back

The Koni village apartments are excellent and we would definately return.

The staff were very friendly especially Petros who worked on the pool bar. There is a slight incline to the apartments which would not be recommended for people with walking difficulties.

The beach & bars were about a 15mins walk.

The location of Koni village was excellent there was a bar in the resort which we visited every night for a drink.

The beach was nearby but the way we crossed was by the Catcus Beach where there is some steps to walk down.

The greeks are very friendly and as were the staff.
I was very upset about flying back to Manchester , I would definitely like to go again it is the best place Ive been in my life!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say that never having been to the Koni village before, I was more than impressed.

The hill is not as bad as people say. Walking up or down takes one or two minutes.

The feeling was one of being with Club Med on the cheaper side. The grounds are well kept and very clean.

Staff are more than obliging and friendly.

Air conditioning was essential and not expensive at 55 euro for the week. Hospital bills and heatstroke cost more.
What I liked most was the peace and quiet we had at night regardless of the young people who stayed there and seemed accommodating in this regard. No problems really at all.

Food maybe not that hectic but we ate out anyway. Entertainment, the same. But no matter.

People go on about the main road. Only a problem if you dither this way and that. Just cross the thing like anyone else. Do we complain about it at home. Funny that????

I have to say we had a fab time and would have no problem recommending to family and friends alike. Even recommend it to the pope too if he wants to stay. Great place. Definitely will return. No question.

Everything available in Stalis, Malia and Hersonnisis all nearby.

Definitely recommend getting a quad. Beats walking in that heat and 85 euro Sunday to Thursday night, all inclusive. Can’t beat that. Surely 10 out of 10 for this resort.

OK let's get it straight out of the way immediately. This was a cheap holiday, and the only reason I can think of for this was THE HILL.

We managed ok for the fortnight with an apartment on the block above/behind the restaurant but this is definetly not the place for those with walking difficulties. For anyone that is fit enough if you can get a holiday here for the kind of price that we paid, snatch their hands off.

Studio was large and spacious, the bathroom was fabulous being fully fitted with bath and shower (and full shower curtain and bath mats etc)- not our experience of a normal Greek island apartment bathroom.

Satellite TV with Sky News is free (we were able to keep up with all the bad news while we were away). The usual standard of kitchen stuff was available (but no toaster) but with the abundance of marvellous restaurants available nearby we used nothing but the fridge.

Safety Deposit Box was 20€ the fortnight, Air conditioning 110€.

Cleaning 3 times a week and new linen/towels twice a week - although my one moan about the place was that I wasn't sure we got clean towels as often as we should have.

The Koni Village is clean and well kept, with two nice pools, a small quite one at the entrance and a larger one with a nice bar area. We only ate at the restaurant on the evening of our arrival and unfortunately have to say it was the worst meal we had all holiday (not that it was particularly bad, but everywhere else we went was so much better).

Other than that first evening we never stayed in the apartments so can't comment on any entertainment although we did notice that the advertised B-B-Q and Karaoke night ended up as just a Karaoke night.

Apartments are situated towards the Malia end of Stalis, in fact some of the nearby bars/restaurants advertised themselves as being in Malia but this wasn't true
Malia's a good 15 minutes walk away (I know I did it) and is situated on the 'wrong' side of the main road (not the beach road)and would be 5 minutes walk from the beach as the crow flies if you could cross the road at any point.

We didn't find the road as busy as we feared and managed to cross just to the left of The Cactus Beach Hotel and cut through to the side of the hotel. Cut down this way and marvel at how the bloke who lives in one of these houses manages to park his Ford Focus in such as small parking bay!

We walked into Stalis every evening and walked back again on a night - it was a nice walk and we didn't feel the need for Taxi's

Although there was no entertainment (which didn't really bother us), koni was a great place to stay.

The location was ideal, roughly 10mins walk to the beach, restaurants and bars.

The hill was fine, just had to get used to it and having stayed in hersonissos before, the hill was nothing.

The road was a road, cross it when it's safe and it's easy.

The staff were all friendly and willing to help, and the supermarket and bar were fairly cheap on the whole.

Overall, a great holiday- just be prepared for pestering by locals to go in their restaurants or bars!

We have just returned from the Koni and can not wait to go again. As a family who travel abroad a couple of times a year we all agreed this was the best place we have ever been.

It is about a 15 min walk into Stalis and it is built on a hill, so maybe not suitable for everyone. A very clean, safe and friendly hotel.

We had a perfect holiday, two lovely pools and stunning views over the sea of Crete. Very quiet and totally relaxing, our idea of a great holiday............tip paragliding in Stalis is absolutely fantastic.

Stayed at Koni village about 3 years ago, returned because it was a clean and friendly complex. We stayed in the modern bit on both occasions, lovely sea view from the studio balcony.

It is about 10 minutes walk to the centre of Stalis, although this feels like an hour in the heat!!

We had a problem with groups of young girls and boys this time, jumping in the pool at 4am. The only solution was to close the balcony doors (double glazed) then we needed to buy the air conditioning, but a least we slept okay. We feel if the Koni and Direct holidays do not address this problem by security patrol or 24hr reception it will lose its appeal to couples and families, which would be a shame as it is the best accommodation we have stayed in Greece.

Koni Village is situated on a very steep incline, but you get used to it, just think of your toned legs by the end of your holiday!!!

The hotel was gorgeous with very good swimming pools and other facilities like pool tables, tennis court and arcade games for kids.

The only downside to this hotel was the location as it was a bit isolated and the taxis were a bit expensive so you really need to be prepared for a walk.

The hills aren't as bad as what they are made out to be, however I wouldn't suggest it to people with walking difficulties.

Overall I had a fantastic stay at this hotel.

Very large and clean apartments which were regularly cleaned by friendly staff. Two pools which was great although we stayed near the large one with the kids who loved it. There is a hill to climb but nothing to complain about as we also had two prams with us but managed fine. No entertainment but centre was not far at 10 mins walk away.

We were pleasently surprised on arrival at how nice it looked. The whole village is well kept and very clean, plenty of plants and trees everywhere and all the paths and walls are made of attractive stone.

The staff are very friendly and helpful.

The apartment we had was faultless, very clean, spacious and even had two nice balconies with a sea veiw.

There was no entertainment while we were there, even the weekly bbq was cancelled because of a poor response the week before. This did not bother us because there is so much in Stalis a short walk away.

It would be not suitable for people who have difficulty walking up and down hill, as the whole village is not on level ground and is steep.

It has two good swimming pools, one a lot larger than the other, which are very nice.

We would definitely go back and stay there again.

The rooms were of good size and were serviced regulary.

The food was excellent, I never ate outside the hotel.

The 2 pools were a nice size too. The one I used the most was at the pool bar where the staff were great fun chatting all the time to you. It makes a nice difference.

The location was close to the beach and shops and just a short taxi ride to Malia for more shopping and clubbing

I have already booked again for next year.

The apartment was very clean and tidy, we stayed for seven days and the maid called 3 times. The room was equipped with a radio and a TV. There was also an air conditioning unit, but was very costly at €55 per week.

With the various array of restaurants in Stalis, there was no need for us to eat in the Taverna in the resort, although on our last day we ordered breakfast and it turned out to be twice as dear and not as nice as the food in the town. I personally found the amenities in the resort much more expensive than those in the town.

The location of Koni apartments is situated a good 10-15 minute walk, across a very busy national road, however we got around this by hiring a scooter which was very reasonable at €50 for 4 days including insurance, I would definitely recommend this mode of transport for getting around. And although I'd never driven one of these before they are rather easy to master.
One other gripe I had was "The Hill" to the apartment, as the Koni village is set into the side of a hill the gradient is not suitable for people with walking difficulties.

The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.

The was no evening entertainment whilst we were staying and we missed the BBQ as we only stayed for one week.

We will definitely visit Stalis in the near future, but not necessarily stay in the koni. However having said that i would have no problem recommending this resort to my family and friends.

We stayed in one of the newer apartments and they were the best we have experienced in Greece. The kitchen was a little basic for anyone who likes eating in a lot but we only really had breakfast in the apartment so this wasn't a problem.

The air conditioning was quite expensive but we found it very useful as it made it a lot easier to sleep at night.

Two nice pools, the bigger one near the restaurant and bar and the quieter one down the hill. No mad scramble for sunbeds - we always managed to get some whatever time opf the day we went down which is not usually the case in August.

The bar was a bit on the expensive side compared to the town but I guess that is to be expected. We didn't eat in the restaurant as we prefered to go into town where there was more choice and prices were far more competitive. The shop is very useful for breakfast as they do fresh bread/rolls etc which were reasonably priced.

The walk back to the apartment is fairly steep, particularly if you are right up by the tennis courts like we were, but you do get used to it. Probably not a good idea to go to Koni if you have problems with walking though.

The only down side to Koni was having to cross the busy main road to get to the town/beach. Koni is situated about midway between 2 tunnels which go under the road so you have a bit of a walk either way. We felt uneasy about crossing the road at points in between, mainly because we have 2 young kids, but plenty of people did manage it - just be careful, particularly if you have had a drink or two!

We stayed on the last block at the top of the hill. The room was basic as you would expect but lovely and clean. We had a varander in the lounge area and in the bedroom which the sea and the coast could be seen from either side of the block in front. We only ate at the restaurant twice, once for breakfast and our last meal while waiting for our return coach. We found the food fine but you don't get a lot compared with what is on offer in the resort. But the staff that served you made up for it. I found them the most friendly I have ever come across in all my holiday experiences. The location was ideal in that you were a short bus ride or 15 minutes walk either
into a large shopping area and cosmopolitan restaurant area by the sea, very hustly, bustly. Or on the other side was very pretty Malia on the other side. Very pretty by day and extremely lively at night. Full of teens partying the night away. But I evenat 38 years enjoyed a few nights there and was glad to be able to walk away after knowing I would get a good sleeep because our appartment was a nice walk away.It was all under control and relaxed though, not hectic and worrying like I was led to believe by the reps. The entertainment was on a small scvale, but we knew that before we booked it. If you wanted somewhere with more going on you would book elsewhere. There were a few electronic games and a pool table for the kids. A tennis court and even a kareoke night. We didn't spend any evenings there as weanted to see all resort but atmosphere was nice and friendly if you eanted to chill with a cocktail with friends for a couple of hours. The supermarket was well stocked and again with the friendliest of staff. Yes, definitely, I would go back every year I have left on this earth!! I am already hoping the father of my children will be taking them away so that I can go with my partner and this time hire a car!! It was indeed an unexpectedly fantastic holiday and the hotel certainly played its part in our enjoyment. The pool was beautiful, although they could do to change the tape of music playing by the pool accasionally as we all got sick of Kylie Minogue. I even thought of sending them one when I got home! With the location, you do have to cross a very busy main road to get o the restaruents and beach, but it is worth it to be stayng there.

We were two couples unfortunately at the very top of the hill and it was quite slippy at times, the rooms were clean and nicely furnished, they had a bath which was unusual but nice. There was also a tv which was nice for chilling out as the radio in the room had greek music only.
These apartments are nice but really are out of the way of everthing up a laneway that was the main turnoff.

Koni is a beautiful complex. On arrival the first thing that strikes you is the 'HILL'. I wouldnt recomend the complex to elderly people with walking difficulties. Towards the end i was running up it so its not that bad. I stayed for 14 nights, the maid only called in 3 times, lucky we wernt the messy type! The food in the restaurant was nice & also at a competitave price. Menious,(The Cook) Michael(The Waiter) Couldnt have been more friendly. Bar staff could have been a bit better. The supermarket has a variety of items.Very cheap, i.e. bottle 1 litre of water 60c. I would definitly reccomend the weekly BBQ. Food was amazing, something for all taste buds. Although the greek dancing left little to be desired. Also Spirious(The security man) is there to keep us teenagers quiet at night!

I think the way I raed this makes it sound worse than it was. We booked last minute on a recomendation from the travel agent. We weren't dissapointed, especially for what we paid.

Although there was only two of us, we were originally in one of the bigger apartments (4 beds), which are lower down the hill, but older. These rooms are definitely big enough for a family of four, although the kitchen is pretty basic (as usual). Since the food locally is so good and cheap we ate out every night anyway. A 3 course meal with 1 litre of wine for 2 would only set you back around £15-20 in a good restaurant.

We were warned in advance that the bathroom facilites can be a little basic in Greece, but the shower didn't fix to the wall and there wa no curtain. This wouldn't have been a huge problem as it was set up more as a wet room anyway, but the drianage was poor and so everywhere got very slippery and the was mould round the corners.
Whilst this wasn't very pleasant we were moved as soon as another room became available (2 days) into one of the new 2 bed apartments further up the hill.

I could not have been more impressed with these, whilst the cooking facilites were still basic they were very clean, had a balcony and a proper bathroom with bath and shower. Thye were always kept clean and although ours overlooked the pool it was never noisy and we had a distant sea view.

We paid the extra for the air conditioning, I could imagine that it would be essential in aug/jul but it was only about £25 for the week.

We piced this hotel knowing it was out of the main resort because we wanted the peace, and on reflection I think we made the right choice. However it did mean crossing THE main road in Crete everytime we wen to the beach or out for dinner. For this reason it isn't really suitable for families with yound children. There is an underpass whcih they recomend you use but its very hard to find and is about 1km in the wrong direction.

The apartments are set on the hill side and so again, those with young families might find this a problem and it isn't really suitable for the those with mobility problems.

Stalis itself those is a really nice town. There is plenty to do but it isn't too tacky or as busy as Malia which is just turning into an 18-30 resort.

The staff were reasonaly friendly although we weren't around the apartments that much. I have friends that have been who have said that the staff here, especially around the bar, are exceptional.

As we ate out every night we didn't see much entertainment (i'm not even sure there was any) althoguh one night they have a Greek BBQ night. This was the most expensive meal we had out there and it was not impressive.
Overall the holiday was as good as we hoped. the only down side being the road outside.

Looking at other hotels in the area this was definitely the best of the bunch for the money. Having heard that the star system in Greece is a bit hap-hazard I was really impressed. It really made a difference to the holiday that little things were there, like decent showers and changing rooms for late check outs which I wasn't expecting for a hotel of that standard.
I would definitely reccomend booking two new room instead of one of the bigger ones were possible. And would say this is probably a holiday most suited to couples and families with teenagers rather than young families
