| said: Have been with Viva before to Alcudia. Viva Mallorca was fabulous - clean, tidy, excellent staff. The rooms were well maintained throughout our 16 night stay.
The staff could not do enough to help. We were self catering but stayed at hotel to eat regularly as my two boys (8 and 5) loved being there for the entertainment and the sport.
During the day was busy and sometimes noisy so I would not recommend for a couple on a romantic break. First class destination for families with access to lots of pools and a beach that is in walking distance so you can mix the week up.
Caan Picafort itself was pleasant in the evening when we did venture out. We met lots of friends from the Uk and Europe.
Highly recommended.

| said: I cannot rate Viva highly enough, when we arrived they did not have our reservation, this was our first time not on a package and so a lesson learnt to email the hotel in advance. However, we had our booking info from alpharooms and they didn't make a drama out of this and fixed us up with a studio for the first 4 nights before moving us to a one bedroom apartment, which we had booked, for the remaining 7.
The studio was cramped for four of us but if your a couple then there is more than enough room. This was the case with the apartment for us. The rooms are well maintained with towel changes every day except Monday and Thursday. As mentioned there is no kettle and if you need to style your hair take your own hairdryer.
The hotel is spotless with maids and maintenance men always on the go, I even saw one with a paint tin and brush touching up where the walls had been knocked which was a first.
There is a large pool with three sections all of different depths from toddlers to adult shoulder depth, another pool for the babies and a deep pool. Each have ample sunbeds with parasols, there is a notice asking for beds not to be reserved before 9am so people staked their claim and sat with the towels until 9 and then went for breakfast. If your not an early riser then there were still beds available upto 9:30-9:45 which was surprising at the height of the season.
The food was the standard fayre that you get on holiday, plenty of it and frequently refreshed. No complaints as we all ate well. Booked for self catering so we ate out 4 nights and the rest in the hotel paying as you in the restaurant. You can get pre-pay at approx 8euros breakfast, 15 euros dinner or both for 20 euros. Kids under 12 are half price and under 3 free.
The kids clubs are split into 4-7, 8-12 & 13-17. Ours only went a couple of times but you could come and go as you please, there was none of the pre-booking I’ve had with the holiday company kids clubs. Most afternoon activities where around the pool so they could just join in as they pleased.
The entertainment started at 8 with the mini disco, sometimes with a 20 minute Disney story at the start and then ‘bufo’ the kids club mascot would give out the certificates for the days activities. This was followed at 9 by the main show put on by the viva entertainers. I get the impression there are groups of them who tour the viva hotels, 5 or 6 in the area with their shows, all very good and worth staying in for. There was usually some music until 10:30/11:00 and then just the bar open until midnight. If you like to stop up late you’d need to go into the resort centre.
The hotel had a good mix of guests, predominately German then British and Dutch. Not sure if this had anything to do with early finishes at night but it suited us.

Nice pancakes for breakfast freshly made. The Grill not up to much, had to send meal back because cold. Entertainment very Butlins. Bingo great prize every night about 700 euros. Concerned about staff spraying fly spray about drinks machines.

| said: The hotel and amenities were wonderful. None of the embarrassing tattooed football wearing English people you tend to find abroad.
Loads of German and Dutch visitors also.
Very family orientated - slightly off putting that they allow their toddlers/children to wander round with no clothes on.
Entertainment wasn't brilliant, but at the moment with a toddler that didn't bother us.
Pool was warm enough to get into which helps.
The rooms were cleaned everyday and towels replaced when necessary. You can hire towels from the reception for a deposit of 10euros each and have them replaced three times a week.
The self catering rooms didn't have kettles or toasters so I would recommend you take your own if you can't do without.
Only had one snack meal at the bar during the day, but it was very nice.
Lovely hotel and we would consider going back.
Rooms were very spacious and not at all dangerous for an inquisitive toddler.

| said: I’m just back from a weeks holiday in this hotel.
Me and my husband went without the kids for a relaxing break and that’s exactly what this holiday gave us.
The hotel had 3 large swimming pools it was a huge complex plenty of room for people to sunbathe and loads of seating areas too at the pool bar where they have lovely snacks. There is also a supermarket which is reasonable priced and has all your British home comforts u might want, there is a gym an indoor swimming pool Jacuzzi sauna and internet room.
They have a large dining room and bar which is opened to midnight every night and for the kids they have a children’s club who provide fantastic activities for kids age 4 to 12 from 10 am till 4pm
We went half board the food was delicious and plenty of choice for all nationalities that stayed at the hotel, the restaurant area was very clean and the staff were very quick to clear your plate and any mess up.
The room we had was very spacious and was cleaned by the maid every day of our stay providing us with fresh linen and towels every day. The whole hotel was spotless and the cleaners worked from first thing in the morning until late at night.
the staff were very friendly and met our needs satisfactorily.
In the evening the hotel had a kids entertainment show followed by adults one we stayed in for most of the shows as they were very entertaining and ranged from lion king to Mamma Mia we will rock you Chicago not as good as the real thing but they did work hard to entertain.
Overall, this hotel was fantastic and suits all ages and would suit couples and families we are actually going to book up for next year but take my two small kids this time.
The location is ideal about a 5 ten min walk and your at the beach and the bars restaurants and souvenir shops.

| said: The complex itself is fantastic! Super clean, and very attractive. not for a family in such of a lively holiday though.
The entertainment is well intended, its fun just don’t expect professional dance/singing/acting, very amateur. Butlins redcoats are a little better. Still it is fun.
The entertainers and all staff are very very nice though; they try there hardest to make your holiday what you want it to be.
There is not very much for the teenagers to do. Younger kids have tons to do though.
Swimming pools were lovely, the spa was super I really enjoyed having it. Massages were available. The spa was a lot bigger then I expected I one of my favourite parts of the complex. The gym is small but all you need.
The food in the dinning hall is fantastic; breakfast was my favourite with an amazing selection. Dinner did not vary a great deal from night to night. I would recommend self catering as is cheap enough to just pay for each meal as you want it and I would get bored of the food as is basically the same each night. There is a large selection though just the selection doesn’t change much. There are some fantastic restaurants in alcudia.
The rooms were pleasant. kettle and toasters available for hire at a small charge as the rooms have none.
This complex is fab if you want a relaxing holiday, but in my opinion a little boring as by 11 o clock most were in bed. The complex is full of mainly Germans, who we found to be very rude and demanding. They like to go to bed very early therefore the entertainment finishes by 10.30 latest! they daytimes are activity packed though. Ideal if you just want to sit and relax and not worry about the kids.

| said: Hotel Cleanliness: What can I say other than absoloutely fantastic. The maids never seem to stop and if they happen to be cleaning when you return to a room they try to make themselves invisible.I had six children over three rooms so you can imagine the mess they made!!!! but everything was always spotless on return without the feeling that they had gone through anything. Even early morning and late evening you would still see them out around the complex. If a glass is dropped just say to them and they will appear from nowhere to clear it.
Hotel Food: Again this is fantastic, a huge variety that definitely caters for everyone. Waiters always ready to take yor plate or glass, Hygiene in the dining areas was excellent and you will always see someone clearing the food bar tables etc...
Location: The hotel is about 10 mins walk from the beach, If you walk the right way through the village there is an array of excellent value shops. Even though this is a quiter area of the island (not for clubbers) if you are looking for relaxation as well as entertained kids this is the place to go. The beach is fantastic.
Hotel Staff: They go out of the way to help with everything that you ask. Great rep team and kids club staff as well as reception and domestic staff. We were flying home on my son's 11th birthday and I asked the reps to organise a cake, balloons for the friday. They surpassed themselves. I left them 50 euros(not knowing how much it would cost) early in the week and they went into town to buy everything for a birthday and decorated a table in the restaraunt with ballon animals, tablecloth and all the things for a birthday including a cake and candles bought out by the waiters all for 18 euros!!!!!!!!!!!!! I even had card put through the door to say that everything was organised. Special thanks to Billy and Claire.
Entertainment: All the entertainment team tried hard although could be a bit repetitve. Although bearing in mind that these guys also join in with some of the daytime activities with the kids club they work really hard.
I would definitely return. Although I had a last minute change of group (literally 12 hours b4 we flew) the first choice team made everything go smoothly. Travelling with 6 children is always difficult, but this experience has made me want to do it a lot more often. Not only would I like to return to Viva I now want to try the other holiday villages. Enjoy your time at Viva.

| said: Hope my review isn't too long but I've tried to give the sort of details I would have liked to know myself. I’ll also posted some pics.
The complex...
Although it’s only 5 mins from a busy road, it’s actually sited in a quiet residential area. It only took us 10 mins (15 tops) to walk to the beach front/shops and was quite a pleasant stroll. Watch out on crossings - cars only stop once you’re ON the crossing!! There is a luxurious look to the reception area, all tiled with comfy seating. Grounds are immaculately kept, lush greenery and flowers everywhere, even gardens within some of the apartment blocks. No rubbish or mess in sight. The complex is exceptionally clean and you can’t miss the army of cleaners and gardeners working hard around the site. Rooms cleaned, towels and bed linen changed 5 days a week. Beach towels can be hired at 10€ ea. at reception (redeemable when you present your receipt) and can be exchanged for clean ones 3 times a week. We were given the opportunity to upgrade to half board for 19€ ea. or have breakfast at 8€ ea. and dinner at 13.95€ ea. (children 12 & under half price).
The holidaymakers were predominately Dutch and German on site and in the resort. Onsite shop was expensive but handy. A good supermarket can be found within 20 mins when you go from the entrance gates of Viva Mallorca, across the road, to the road opposite that leads to the main road. Turn left and keep walking. You can’t miss it ‘Mercado’; it’s just before the roundabout. Avoid Sundays, it seemed very busy then. You can buy cheap cereals bowls there too. Watch what you buy, the journey back is uphill. We had a look around Holiday Village Viva 800m up the road where they were mainly British; their onsite shop stocked mainly British brand names, so go there if you can’t get by without those must have things.
We were S/C so can’t comment on the food provided in the dining room.
The two internet terminals were well used: 1€ for 10 mins. There’s a gym, poorly equipped but adequate for burning off those excesses if you feel up to it. I didn’t use the spa area & small indoor pool but when I tried, found the door was often locked.
Everything in the complex closed down about midnight and a bit later than that in Can Picafort itself. Once the stragglers returned and the late night swimmers went back to their apartments it was surprisingly quiet and peaceful.
Apartment...
The rooms are spacious with enough storage space. A good supply of hangers but I was glad I brought some with me. The kitchen was tiny (approx. 5’ x 4’) but functionable, however, there’s no kettle, toaster or cereal bowls and limited surface space. Tea cups, not mugs. Still I managed to cook a couple of simple meals. Bathroom had a walk-in shower, toilet and full bath with shower attachment. In amongst the towels provided you’ll find a small towel to be used as a mat; the floor outside the shower cubicle gets very wet. The bathroom sink is outside of the actual bathroom, which is a really good idea as it allows someone to shave or do their hair without hogging the whole bathroom. The sink area is a good size with a large mirror, lights, hairdryer and sockets within reach. The hairdryer is adequate for rough drying, the type you find in swimming pools, ok, but I’m glad I brought my own. Controllable air conditioning was a godsend. Operated by one of the two key cards given, we always left one in place when we went out so that we returned to a cool haven.
Living room...
Sofas were comfortable to sit and sleep on and there was enough dining space. There’s a full length mirror in the living room, a must have for us girls! TV showed one English channel, CNN and we never managed to get the music channel working. Both the living room and bedroom had sliding doors onto a decent sized balcony. Safe in wardrobe.
Pool area...
Set on its own there’s one large deep pool. The middle pool (the most popular) got shallower the more you got to the other end but we never went far enough to find out how shallow. Don’t know if there was a baby pool. A lifeguard was present for the majority of the day and did not tolerate bad behaviour. I saw him tell off a teenager for jumping off the pool bridge and demanded the boy took him to his parents. You can buy inflatables on site. Have a look outside the door of your apartment; often unwanted inflatables are left behind. The poolside bar served reasonably priced decent lunch/snacks, such as burgers, bocadillos, salads, omelettes, pizzas etc as well as soft drinks, alchol and ice-creams. Shame it closed in the evenings.
Sunbeds...
After a couple of days signs went up around the pool area stating that beds were not to be reserved with towels before 9am. Towels found on beds, with no-one sat with them, WERE removed. From then on we found that most days we could easily get four beds together between 9 & 9.30am but not around the deep pool as, what little beds were there, got snapped up before or bang on 9am, mostly by the same people.
Entertainment...
Evening entertainment was outdoors around the stage so if you wanted you could hear, if not see it from your balcony. It sounded like children were catered for first, followed by the 9pm performance. We were out most nights and only saw one, Grease. For someone who doesn’t really like that sort of thing, it was quite good fun. Waiter service however was very slow.
Daytime entertainment seemed to focus on younger children. We saw them parading their efforts of the day like T-shirt painting or sometimes taking part in treasure hunts. There was a playground, bouncy castle and a hut where activities took place set in a sandy enclosure. Onsite there was a pool table, mini golf, three arcade machines, a sandy volleyball area and a tennis/football court but we didn’t see much activity on any of them or weren’t around when things were happening. My youngest (12) thought the soccer setup was a mismatch of size & ages and not best organised. However, as the court was left open most of the day he was able to have a kick around on his own if he wanted. The shooting consisted of one BB gun given to one child at a time, 4 shots each at a target then rejoin the queue for another go. You needed to be 13 but if you were smallish, aiming was difficult as the target was quite high up. There were also PlayStation competitions which we missed, aqua aerobics, water polo and bingo. It would have been a real plus for the complex if activities for older kids could have been better organised. There’s also a cinema in the sports bar.
Trips...
We tried Palma shopping – the catherdral was interesting but shopping in the very busy city centre in the very hot midday sun was not a good idea. Also many shops closed for siesta.
and...
Aquacity – we chose this waterpark because we’d heard that the rides were more exciting for older kids than those in Alcudia, but I can’t confirm, as I’ve not been to both. My kids enjoyed it, although queues for the more adventurous rides could be as long as 20 mins. Could have done with more time to get around though. Would go again but under my own steam so that we didn’t have to rush back to the coach. It was an expensive day out, 107€ for the four of us with the cost of floats & lunch on top. See my post on Aquacity if you’d like to know more about the park.
Conclusion...
On arrival we thought we were booked at Holiday Village Viva and were disappointed with the error because we’d booked essentially for the older kids’ club, Wavelengths. My 14 yr old said she was perfectly happy without it and my 12yr old (who did miss the club and found it difficult to scale the language barrier) still gave the holiday 9 out of 10!!
I’d give 10/10 for accommodation and ambiance – well worth its 4* classification
8/10 for Viva Mallorca facilities (something more co-ordinated for older kids would have been good, and also a kettle, toaster & cereal bowls, not to mention only one washing machine & dryer for the whole site?)
Would I go again? Absolutely, even without kids.

| said: Just returned from this hotel. Lovely big apartments, although the kitchen proved awkward to use, without a kettle/toaster/oven/lack of work surface etc etc. We went without....well we didn't actually as some friends of ours told us they were never checked in the buffet... so we were told to chance our luck and eat in. Play dumb if you were ever questioned...but we weren't. Not once...mind you we never ordered drinks with meals as they were put on your room bill and then they would have probably sussed us!!! Four nights we ate in and were never asked once!!!! Cheeky i know, but we paid over the odds!!! Well don't we all!!!
Entertainment....mmm bless emm it was all really professional looking but the singing left a lot to be desired...they crucified songs on the ABBA night, had us cringing on the eurovision night....surprised patio doors weren't shattered, i couldn't do better though! You get the idea, but quite laughable/relaxing.
Pool areas, great, although slippy for the kids, hotel was full and so was the baby pool!!!
Beware, lots of german kids and babies running around naked and going in the baby pool. We all know what germs can do! We complained to reception that some babies were in the pool with no nappies on...disgusting...their response was pretty poor, the german receptionist said they could not do anything about this. Well i told her that this place would suffer if people went down with bugs. My advice tell your rep and get them to put pressure on the hotel.
Cleaners were every where all day from 7am cleaning outside til late at night. Very impressed.
The place is full of germans and a lot of the food is catered for them, us brits are 2nd place to them when it comes to everything in the resort and hotel. Don't know if they spent more money but it didn't bother us.
Bars resonably priced, lovely pina coladas etc!!!
Beware of travelling with JMC/Thomas Cook, you won't see a rep in the hotel unless you phone for an appointment. We didn't even get a welcome pack and the welcome meeting was held the day before we left!!! Even then we weren't inited and the time wasn't advertised. Lots of people were pleased with soverign so try them first before you book!
Overall we had a lovely holiday and we would go back there again...with a massive possy of brits to outnumber our european friends!!!!!!
Have a lovely time if you go...Best rooms to get are those in Block 1 with pool views, sun all day on the balcony and furthest from the noisy entertainment. Or if the noise doesn't bother you but you want the sun on your balcony then ask for block 5 facing a quite road! The layout means a lot of those with pool views don't get sun on the balconies til late afternoon. Not a lot of use if you want to top up your white bits!!!!
Enjoy

| said: brand new and only been open for 7 weeks when we arrived. i think we were the first people ever to stop in our room.
a light criticism first...there was no toaster and no cereal bowls. i enquired at the reception and got the customary shrug of the shoulders. only when i marched in to reception armed with a packet of frosies and a litre of milk (purchased from the onsite shop i should add) and asked how they suggested i eat them did they arrange for us to get some cereal bowls from the restaraunt.
now the good stuff.
~an onsite shop with reasonable prices was very useful although not sure why it had to shut on sundays which was a small irritant. we didn`t really buy stuff from anywhere else as we didn`t need to.
~ a choice of 3 pools, all of which were suitable for kids and were spotlessly clean
~ beautiful layout of the apartments, ample sunbeds for all and a lovely poolside snack bar which i found very reasonably priced. (4 euros for burger & chips with salad) i should add that ice lollies from the shop were half the price of those at the snack bar so it was a 40 yard walk to the shop for a tight git like me.
~ superb day and evening entertainment, common language was english which again was good for us given that english presence in the hotel was probably less than 15%. they do a special childrens day where for 15 euros (i think) they look after the kids for a full day. they hav pony riding, t-shirt painting, pool games and other such stuff. our daughter loved it. the kids mini club had swings, slides, climbing frames and see-saws available all day.
~ rooms excellent, fully air conditioned as you would expect and maid service 5 times a week.
~ excellent staff, very on the ball! i took the bulb out of our balcony light fitting as they can`t be switched off and it was a wee bit bright and within 24hrs an electrician knocked on the door armed with a replacement bulb.
~ hot & cold buffet in the evenings at £10 for adults and £5 for kids was absolutely stunning. we ate there 4 times and i must have had 7 courses each time.
~location was very close to the centre but it was on quite a steep hill which meant it was quite a walk back after an evening in the town. we tended to get a taxi back at a cost of 5 euros. as the previous reviewer mentions the hotels further in to town were very short of space so a little walk was a small price to pay for the spacious grounds we were in.
~ i took £ sterling travellers cheques which were exchanged commission free at reception. i got a rate between 1.47 and 1.49 while we were there which was as good as i saw anywhere.
in summary the place was brilliant. i paid £600 for 11 nights self catering which was outstanding value.
we`d definately go back to this accommodation although i suspect prices will have gone up for next year.

| said: Brand new hotel for May 2004, joins the popular hotels viva chains in Mallorca.
First impressions fantastic, rooms spacious and light, all air-conditioned ( a sensor works on the patio door - if the door is open - the air conditioning switches off - we thought it was broken until we sussed this out!)
there were 5 in our party, so had a double room and a one bed apartment inter connecting - resulting in 2 bedrooms, living area, kitchen area, 2 bathrooms and 3 patio doors. We were lucky enough to also have our rooms overlooking the pools. Sheer luxury!
Bathrooms well equipped with shower cubicle, and seperate bath with additional shower attachment on the bath! - Very handy!
Kitchen - microwave, fridge and 2 ring electric hob. No kettle or toaster whichh surprised us - so may be worth investing in a travel kettle if you like your early morning / late night cuppa! Therefore had to boil water in a saucepan.
Food - ate breakfast daily in the buffet restaurant - good value, loads of choice - worked out at £5.70 per adult, and included cooked breakfasts, fruits, yogurts, breads, cakes, pastries, freshly cooked pancakes, cold meats & beverages.
Location - 450 m from the beach, having to walk down a residential street to the main shopping area / promenade. Only 5 minutes walk. No noise from other hotels as amongst privately rented villas / apartments. Plenty of local small supermarkets, and also 2 large ones nearby. I feel that for the facilities the hotel had to offer, we were perfectly well situated. Other hotels nearer the sea do not have the grounds, and have been built upward rather than spread out and spacious. We were therefore very priviliged to be in such a hotel.
When travelling around the island, we saw many other hotels in the viva chain, some were right by the sea and not the resort centres, shops - others were by the shops and not the sea, having to cross main roads to the beaches, therefore i feel thet the Viva mallorca has the best of both worlds.
Facilities: 3 pools - outdoor; one ndoor pool, indoor jacuzzi, spa, gym, childrens play area. small mini golf, pool tables, table tennis, tennis / volleyball court. outdoor stage for entertainment ( if bad weather, this is done in the large bar) Pool /snack bar. Small supermarket on site, free launderette. Childrens club
Staff: very friendly and helpful. Always visible were maintenence staff, grounds staff/gardeners/pool maintenence staff( these tidied up all the sunbeds and umbrellas each evening - quite impressive!)
Pool is lifeguarded for 9 hours each day. 24 hour reception.
Entertainment: in house staff did most of the entertaining, doing an hours nightly show, that followed on from a kids mini disco. Entertainments crew also arranged various activities during the day.
Look out for some pics posted of the hotel in the photo galleries
