| said: we stayed in this hotel for 1 week from 25 oct 08.
the rooms were basic but clean butthe bar area tables especially the smoking area was not cleaned or the ashtrays emptied very often.
the food was terrible with the same selection for breakfast every day bacon eggs and beans which were cold and we had to use a microwave to heat the food up lunch and dinner had a slightly better selection and was slightly warmer but still needed to use a microwave to heat it up suprising we didnt get food poisoning.
the location of the hotel was not bad being across the road from the shopping area .
as for the entertainment we had a trio for two nights and two nights with dancers the shows lasted about an hour to a hour and a quarter there was only the odd afternoon that they played some background music no other entertainment.
on our first night in the entertainment bar we got some drinks about 11.45 just after 12.00 the lights went out then came back on then at12.07 a secutity person along with a barman came round shouting at all the guest out out.
the quality of the local drinks were poor served in small plastic beakers there was also trouble with stag parties i would never use this hotel or one of its group again and would not be suitable for young children.
i am disabled and this hotel is definetly not suitable for disabled people no disabled toilet facilities also steps up to entrance pool and restraunt with no ramp facilities
this was a true holiday from hell

here is a hotel where you can do whatever you want when you want. It was my first holiday with my boyfriend and we spent most of our time being aware of what others were doing instead of relaxing. The noise levels at night were disgraceful. Every night we spent about 2-3 hours awake between 1am-4am because of people arguing, screaming off balconys, running around, swearing and singing. Horrible atmosphere. There is no one to report to and the hotel staff didnt want to seem to help. The hotel is more 2 star and we touched the ceiling and all the plaster fell off, tiles were missing around bath and water was coming through the ceiling. You have to be very aware to visit this place and we slept with chair infront of the door.
The food was ok. always fresh but not much of a variety. The pool area was nice but was very noisy on saturday and never seemed to be any security around. I didnt feel safe in this hotel and was pleased to come home.
The cocktails and drink were nice. COuldnt complain, and the entertainment? What entertainment? absoultly ridiculous.

Wind got up a bit during night and patio doors blew open, we thought the sas had come to rescue us. We also got told of another guest that someone went to have a ciggie outside the hotel later at night and got mugged by the locals. Took all his cash he had on him and jewellery, so please be carefull.
Should not have to go to the local burger king to get fed when on all inclusive......................................

| said: The hotel was very average for a 3 star. It was very noisy during the night - the corridors are tiled and not carpeted. The food was fine although sometimes I found it a bit bland. If you went to the restaurant after the specified times on the All Inclusive card, the food could be rather cold. Also, you need to go down about 8 steps to the dining room as the lift does not go down to that floor - this was a problem for some old people / families with prams etc. There is definitely no access for people in wheelchairs. The rooms were in need of refurbishment however, they were clean. The maids came to the rooms very early in the morning which was annoying at times. The location of the hotel was great. The TV in the rooms had had the buttons removed so you could not change the channels manually and had to get a remote control from reception which was 20 euros deposit which I thought was a bit steep. All in all, the hotel was cheap and cheerful and my rating would be OK. Cheap & Cheerful!!

It was overrun with students 16yrs old approx. They were drunk noisy and swearing all night, and most of the day.
Staff didn't smile, manager didn't give two hoots. Lifts kept breaking down. We never saw any entertainment in 9 days, we were booked in for 14 days, but we got out early.
Building work next door, plastic glasses in bar, pork/fish every night. I wouldn't go there again if you paid me.

We [eventually] all went to our rooms. I was impressed with the room then I sat on the side of the bed and it collapsed. The toilet was disgusting and the TV didn't work either.
My sister went into her room she went to use her loo and there was a floater[yuks]. The noise at night was terrible the students made noise in the landing from midnght to 5.30am.
The food was ok the same as anywhere else the location was fantastic.
The staff weren't that happy the entertainment was only at night wasn't too bad for March apart from that it was not too bad, I would go again.

Families stay away in June, July and August. It is a dangerous place for kids.
No entertainment for the kids. So noisy woke up every morning between the hours of 4am an 5-30am with rowdy groups, throwing anything they could get their hands on over the balconies. This also happened during the day, screaming shouting swearing and no respect for other guests when told to be quiet.
The food I wouldnt even give to my dog, cold and the meat pink. The staff very ignorant and not helpful at all, and that includes the manager when we complained he said this is not a family hotel.

Rooms were so so,need a lick of paint but always cleaned thoroughly. Hotel staff were always cheerful, even though very over-worked. We went during world cup so very roudy, but learned to live with it and at the end of the week made alot of friends.
Pool could do with less chlorine, bleached my clothes!
Situated perfectly between pubs, clubs and arcades but also very posh restaurants.
Shingle beach was agony at first but the sea definitely made up for it as it slides you up the hill, so much fun.
We would not hesitate to go again. All in all brilliant holiday for all 3 of us for £200 a person!!

| said: Well I have to say we had a fantastic 2 weeks at the casino. However I must say there were a few poblems. We were on the 6th Floor and the lifts were always breaking down. Not suitable for people with disabilites and people with babies. If you have Asthma be sure your not on the top floor and don't forget your pump.
The entertainment could be greatly improved if the DJ realised there are more than 2 CD's in the world.
The bar stff on the whole were friendly and ploite.
The room was cleaned every day and the cleaners do a grand job.
We were looking over the Football local pitch and while we were there we watched lots of fantastic football. However many of the teams were staying in the hotel and they were a little roudy at night.
The food wasnt bad really, a bit cold but you could warm it up yourself in the microwave.
The food manager was a little Hitler so if you want to take food out of the dining hall, take a bag and be careful not to get caught.
I would go back to this hotel and although many customers were maoning I didn't expect a 5 star hotel because I didn't pay 5 star prices.
The location was great it was near to everything. The beach is not sand though, and if you have hard skin on your feet don't worry it is removed easily by walking on the beach with no shoes on.

Entertainment was very basic.
The hotel was overcrowded with out of control teenage students who were fighting in the corridors most nights and security staff had no control, doors were kicked in toilet rolls were thrown around and football was being played in the hotel corridor till 2/3 in the morning.

| said: The food at this AI hotel has been the worst yet. I am not terribly fussy, you get what you pay for and I always try to take into account the amount of people they are catering for. however it was of very poor quality (apart from breakfast).
The maids appeared to clean the room daily but I don't think the ventured onto the balcony very often if at all! The bar area (smoking room tables) had a film of grime usual when the cloth is not being rinsed.
The hotel's prime location is definitely it's best feature. You are right on top of the town centre amidst the shops bars restaurant's. Check out the Steak house beside the Skyrider excellent! Also the Chinese three course set menu + drink all for 8 euros.
The hotel staff were not as pleasant as I have found in other hotels and resorts in the Costa's but put this down to the fact that they were probably hacked off with most of the clientèle. Rowdy Brit's and out of control Italian teenagers on a 'school trip'. Two hundred of them checked in one night!!
Entertainment consisted of alternating 'live music' and 'a disco'
A very disappointing week although not all bad. One thing I think I have learnt is not to travel to this area at this time of year as it seems to attract the other European school parties and other elderly Europeans who obviously don't 'look' for the sun and obviously prefer to holiday out of season.
I Love Lloret and would return but I would be giving the Gran Casino a very wide berth.

| said: We have just returned from our holiday at Gran Casino Royal. Quite central for the front, shops and beach.
Hotel has a lot of stairs, lifts work now and then, we didn't get stuck but the lift door opens in between floors and on speaking to others they found it frightening especially if they had children.
The hotel itself is clean, maids every day. We found the staff to be pleasant, after all please and thank you cost nothing.
Food, well we can all survive on soup, chips and pudding for the time we are there, some of the main courses were ok, but there are plenty of places to eat outside. If I want the Ritz standards of food and service then I will pay that price but we paid £200.00 for 1 week all inclusive.
We met a lot of great people on holiday, always someone to talk to.
The smoking section of the hotel is situated at the back of the hall where the entertainment and bar are which means you cannot see the entertainment but you can hear it.
The hotel seems to take a lot of parties of French, Italian and Spanish kids around 16/17 years old and some of these can be noisy and ignorant, we found the best way to deal with them was to ignore them back or push past, it was the only they seemed to understand.
All in all we enjoyed our week but we would not go back to the hotel again.

Staff not too bad on reception. We requested a ground floor room because of the child we had with us... no... top floor.
We asked only to be told no room available. Room was small damp and cramped. Three beds in clearly a room meant for two only.
Shower room very good the shower was powerful etc. balcony doors very insecure single pained with no glass warnings on. very dodgy balcony rail.
Restaurant very clean etc, food very monotanous. chips veal fish etc every day, gets too much.
At night entertainment very poor. Except we went for new year and the gala meal was excellent and the nights entertainment was okay.
Would not go back though.

| said: We are so glad to be home after spending a week in what we can only describe as hell.
When we first saw the hotel we thought wow it looks great, but how disappointed we were when we got inside. There was plastic glasses all over the table in the reception area, and we were allocated a room on the 5th floor. We found we had to carry our luggage up 10 flights of stairs as the lifts weren't working this was apparently the norm, after 2 days we complained we couldn't keep walking up and down all those stairs as 1 of the kids had asthma so we were moved on to the 1st floor. Only to be kept awake all night with the noise, and when we say noise we mean fighting in and just outside the hotel which the staff didn't do nothing about. Doors being banged and kicked, and when there was no noise we still couldn't sleep because the rooms was that stuffy because they had the heating on, why we don't know because it wasn't cold.
The rooms were kept cleanish, but it was a waste of time putting the don't disturb sign on the door because the cleaner still came in your room. The size of the rooms was laughable 4 of us in a twin room with itchy blankets and sheets with cig burns in them.
The food was very boring and bland, chips for every meal, and they was always cold.
The staff are very unhelpful didn't give 2 hoots for anyone`s feelings, all you got was no comprenda.
Entertainment didn't exists nothing at all for the kids to do, so we can honestly say this is the hotel from hell, and the sooner it's pulled down the better.
So if your thinking of going, please please think again don't put yourself through what we went through.

| said: Its not the Ritz but you wont pay Ritz prices either.
From reading the other posts I was a bit apprehensive even though we were 7 blokes.
The hotel does need a facelift but is in a decent spot and attracts mostly those on a budget-I think it depends when you go as to how many rowdies etc are there. The majority however are enjoying the all day food and drink keeping themselves to themselves I would suggest that families think before booking.
The infamous lifts were working but only held 4 people each which gave problems for the elderly or those with kids. On the 2nd floor we were ok walking.
Rooms were clean but basic and the staff did a good job trying to keep them that way-the dark green paint has had it. There was some road noise at the back but not enough to bother us really. Only problem was on the last night from a couple in about room 262 (you know who you are) who ended up smashing the patio door. I reported it to security to pay them a visit and hope they paid him the damages.
No carpets on the corridors added to the echo noise. Our room had 3 beds and wasnt cramped.
The bar Im afraid is like a dungeon - black/brown. The AI meant queuing at times but was good value. Entertainment was naff.
Food wasnt the horror I expected-3 buffet meals plus snacks served in a surpisingly quite and pleasant room were very enjoyable. Yes chips galore but fresh salads/cold meat/pasta as well everyday so no excuses.
Staff we found were ok -even when we changed our taxi booking 3 times.
Pool area is split level but not overcrowded when we went but water cold.
We tried out the R Star and R Beach which are both ok places but a fair walk away.
Overall great value. Give it a go for 3 nights. Right now text has it 3 nts at 59 quid.

| said: We arrived at the Hotel Gran Casino Royal on a Saturday morning around 10.00am and were shocked to hear the amount of noise coming from the pool area.
Reception gave our cards for all inclusive and told us to take our cases upstairs to a room where they could be kept until our rooms were ready at 1.00pm. Well, the room for the cases was the lounge area at the end of a very smoked filled bar. There were no facilities to leave your possessions secure and anyone could walk off with the numerous cases that were stacked along the walls.
At this point the noise had increased and we had seen enough of the hotel to know we did not want to stay here.
This hotel seems to take in groups of foreign youngsters and let them do what they want. We saw as many as 6 people in one room, which was only designed to be a twin. These youngsters continued to make noise - shouting, singing, running along the corridors and banging on doors and playing very loud music all throughout the day and night. There was no regard for the other guests, some of which were elderly and some had small children. If anyone made a complaint and asked to be moved, as we did, they found the staff to be very unhelpful and just shrug their shoulders.
After trying to contact our holiday company, with no success, we decided to make the best of it, as there were other hotels in the group which guests could go and visit and use their facilities (which we took full advantage of).
The food at the hotel was very poor and quite often cold. The dining room looked like something out of the 60s and was very depressing, dark and dingy. The bar seemed to have no air conditioning or extractor fans and it was like walking through a thick fog as the smoke was not being taken out of the room.
As no late checkout rooms were available and we were not leaving until the evening, we were told we could have use of the courtesy room as long as we pre-booked it. This room turned out to be the Sauna! There were 2 showers but the floor was so flooded because the drains were blocked, that we found it very hard to change into dry clothing.
The only highlight of this stay was the lifts. They have a mind of their own and seem to open up when they want to and go to which ever floor it chooses. The amount of people that got in the lift to go up to their floors only to arrive back in reception with a very puzzled look on their faces was very funny.
I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel and feel it should be closed down for a full refurbishment or completely pulled down. If anyone has booked here, then I would suggest looking for alternate accommodation

Room - There was my husband my 3 year old, my 10month old and myself SQUASHED into a two man room. They gave us a cot when we arrived and when I put my baby into this he went right through it (he was ok). The room was very stuffy and smelt of damp, our bedding smelt disgusting like they have been left in the washing mashine over night, we couldnt sit out on the balcony as the divider was shattered (kids could have cut themselves)
Hotel - Lifts were shocking they never worked we had to lift 2 pushchairs everywhere even to get into the hotel.
Hotel Staff - Very rude towards us not a happy bunch!!
Entertainment - All in Spanish TERRIBLE!
Food - Basic it was the same everyday nothing for the kids
Pool - If you went and got a sunbed before breakfast on the top terrace we would come back and find the staff had put the water sprinkler on and our towels would be soaking!! this was at 9am (why they had to water the grass at that time i do not know)

| said: We stayed in the Gran Casino Royal in Llorette De Mar. We were all inclusive thinking of the benefits with a 3yr old and a 10mth old. No benefits what so ever. A nightmare from beginning to end.
This has stairs everywhere with the lifts hardly working at all. If you did get one you didnt know where you would land. Had to carry children and buggies everywhere and needed two adults at all times.
Rooms were absolutely disgusting with a terrible smell of damp. When you went into the bathroom the damp was hanging off the ceiling and everything seemed to be glued together.
Our first room had big rust spots in the bath, then something was leaking from above on your head not sure yet but looked like urine.
We ended up in 3 different rooms but with no real help from the hotel staff nor manager. Very ignorant man. All rooms had damp in the bathrooms. Beds awful old spring bases with knackered matresses. Slept on a lilo acouple of nights for some comfort. Furnishings fell to bits inyour hands. Each room was as bad as the other with the horrible decor.
2 adults and children were stuck in aroom for 2.No space ,no air conditioning but they could not leave balcony door open due to state of balcony with shattered glass panel a danger. We left our doors open but that just let in all the noise from the cars, the sirens of ambulances which seem to go by every 2 or 3 minutes day and night.
Extremely noisy due to basically 18-30 type Spanish and Italians running amok, spitting out of balconies and even urinating.
The banging on hotel doors goes on all night that includes yours as they just dont care who they disturb.
Dont look for a rest here. So noisy with no control by the staff.
Few nights had to get security to calm things down.
Food is very repetative and not for young children. Ended up eating out as we could not face it.
Holiday rep who looks after guests absolutely shocking.
No babies highchairs so we had to feed 10mth old in his buggy what a mess.
I contacted my travel agent back home 3 times to try and get a move but got nothing.
Rep refused to come and help us.
Oh yes and to really crown it all a building site appeared right outside the pool on the second day. This is for a new bus terminal. Nobody thought to tell us Rep didnt think it would affect us.
Entertainment was absolutely shocking and in Spanish but again no staff control so noisy like being in the middle of a football crowd.
The swimming pool is also a danger with no pool attendent. The pool light that parted company from the pool wall and was floating about on its electric cable was different.
The childrens play area is a level up from the pool the couple of swings and chute are falling to bits. There is a gap at the end of the balcony in this area where a child could fall through and down about 30ft onto the poolside. Not very relaxing.
The rose bush growing right in the middle of this we bit was also something to worry about
Hotel location not for families at all.
There was a lot of cleaners but the hotel was not the cleanest.
It is rumoured that this hotel is to be knocked down they are a bit late. I can only hope it is and soon so that other people like us who spent 2 & a Half grand dont have to put up with this.
Not a cheap holiday and needing another one to recover.
A Holiday from hell.
And no we wont be back. Never a 3 star hotel.
Lucky to get any.

I class this place has blackpool for the Spanish.
Staff
The staff are very rude and ignorant and never give you the time of day, never help you in anyway at all.
I had a bag stolen in the restaurant and complained to the manager and he was not interested at all, I believe the staff took our bag, and asked to see the cctv footage and they told me it was not working, we ask around and most people had the bags, wallets etc. Stolen a place not to be trusted.
Food/drink
The food is very repetative, chips, veal, pork every day dinner and tea. They have no high chairs for babies,
you are given a card for drinks which you get two drinks in plastic glasses, with one card which they will swipe, which I think is a farse and if you go up with two cards for 4 drinks they will ask for two cards and only swipe one.
Entertainment
I class the entertainmet very poor 1 or 2 shows a week mostly spainish which you could not understand.
The Hotel
The hotel is very standard, rooms are clean.
But if you are going there with a pushchair or wheelchair it is very hard to get around the hotel, there are lifts but 90% at times are not working, we had to carry the pushchair up and down many stairs all day and not 1 member of staff would help us at all, when my partner was on her own with the pushchair. Still no help from staff or from other guests has most of them where spanish.
The noise out side the hotel is very loud screaming and shouting till 5am and then people inside the hotel banging and knocking on every ones door thought the night.
I am not one to complain but this hotel has no respect for others, only themselves.

Also the food was not up to much if you like pork and chips you would be okay.
Also the rooms were very stuffy as there were no air conditioning and half the time you would find it very hard to breathe.
But on the whole the hotel was situated in a good location not far away from the shops and the beach and it was kept very clean and your rooms had clean towels every day.
The pool was small for the amount of people staying at the hotel and if you were not out early in the morning you would not be able to get a sunbed.

| said: Well here you go if you want the truth from ex hol rep and ex travel agent then read on:
After reading previous reviews I was expecting hell, but boy was I surprised!!
I have only minor issues with this hotel. One being the lifts, although not terrible only 2 of the 4 ever worked but I was on third floor and the steps were no difficulty for me and my husband.
The second issue was food, it was by no means awful. I enjoyed all breakfasts (full English + toast), lunch and evening meals for 80% of the time, but I am a fussy eater, if I don’t like the look of something I am un-willing to try it. So if your not like me you will have no problem at all. There was always chips/salad/hot and cold meats/fresh fruit/ice cream!!!
The hotel itself was pleasant and clean!! Dated in decor but very clean, maids did my room everyday with fresh towels very day!! Room was fine size for a couple. Two adults and a child would be ok, but 4 people would be cramped!!
Entertainment was on every night and activities through the day. Was ok, best night was 'stars of the night'. The shows are advertised all the time.
The bar was open 10.00am till 12.00 midnight for all inclusive and you had a card they swiped for this. Two drinks per card. I took both my and my husbands card and got 4 with no problem. Some staff friendly some short with you depending on their mood (prob because the hours they work). Lager was 'estrella damm'(local) about 5%, all drinks are in plastic cups. You could get all spirits/tea/coffee/cocktails/water.
Pool was fine, busy as I went in July and sunbeds were sparse, but I got one everyday at 08.30am. Pool on one level and pool bar on another. Pool bar opened everyday at dif times but always open by 12.00.
Reception was always helpful and had good English. When I had problem with my lock on my door it was sorted with their help ASAP.
So all in all this is a good 3 star hotel that is cheap to book. I paid £480 for 2 adults for 7 nights all inclusive, including flights and transfers!!!

| said: We booked the holiday despite concerns about some reviews we had read. Having had an all-inclusive week there I have the following comments. The hotel is clean although the decoration could be modernised. The swimming pool area is well maintained and clean. There is a pool-side bar but you have to get out of of the water to get there but still serves everything you are likely to need. In the height of summer, you may struggle to get a sun lounger. The food is fine, and has some variety. There are microwaves available to heat your food up if necessary. If you are all-inclusive you can get a limited range of beverages from the restaurant, i.e. bottle of water, wine. As we were there only a week the food was fine, but possible would get bored of it into a second week.
The bedrooms are basic but very clean. Only problem is that any noise in the corridors echos and did keep us awake one night due to some thoughtless people talking and banging doors in the early hrs of the morning. I would have my concerns in the height of summer when people have been making the most of the all-inclusive alcohol!!
All drinks are served in plastic glasses but as you can drink on the terraces overlooking the swimming pool, I thought it was a good idea there was no risk of broken glass. There is the odd entertainment during the day such as darts or pool competitions. The evening entertainment is your typical corny shows, but at least the hotel put something on.
Actual location of the hotel is good with a 10min walk to the beach. You are right near the bus station if you want a go to Girona or Barcelona or the free bus to the water park and go-karting. We closed our balcony doors of a night time, and so did not hear much noise from the street but as there is no air conditioning in the room, you might hear noise as the temperature rises and you need some air into the room.
I think you would enjoy this hotel better either early or late season, only real concern was the noise in the corridor of a night time.

| said: To anyone thinking of going to this hotel. Please be aware it is totaling unsuitable for disabled,or anyone having difficulty to climb stairs as everywhere you go in the hotel there are lots of stairs, even to get to the pool area there are lots of stairs.
It is completely unsuitable for children as there is nothing for them to do,the are where there is a slide and two swings is so small the slide has no saftly rails when the child climbs to the top, completely unsafe.
The childrens time in the evening is all of 15mins just dancing to the very same tunes every night. This is the whole entertainment for the complete day.
You have to lift push chairs up and down the stairs as most times it is impossible to get a lift.
Food for the children is non exsistent, so make sure you take canned food with you.
The rooms are very clean but so anitquated.
For adults the food is OK but you feel as though you are eating the same thing everyday, salad a few different meats over the week, mainly chips.
The all day snack bar that is offered is almost the same food you have for main meals it is also mostly cold when you get it.
All drinks are served in plastic ups.
Entertainment for adults is dredfull, malthough they play some music dont go exspecting to have disco in the evening because you wont get one.
We went there exspecting life around us and dont mind noise from people enjoying themselves, thats not what you get.The noise you do get is from the traffic out in the street. There is a lorry that comes past at about 5-30 every morning, the noise from it is dreadfull.
On saying all this we think it is good for 18-30 because there is plenty for them to do outside of the hotel at night.
If you are thinking of going please take heed to all we have said on here as it will completly ruin your holiday and you will waste your money as we did.

| said: I only stayed here for 2 nights, and oh how decieving the outside is. I luckily didn't pay for this short break, it was a gift.
The food was edible, but nothing special. Its the basic cheap 3 star food you should expect and nothing more. There isnt a variety really, unless you like alsorts of weird foods, and are happy to have weird concoctions on your plate.
The hotel itself is need of a full face lift and needs completely gutting. The furniture is old and tattered, and has been battered by the yobbo's that flock to the hotel.
The walls are full of nicotine, and are just dirty. The room where you leave your bags (which is not secure at all by the way) is a right eye sore, I sat in there on my last day praying for a time warp to send me home sooner. Why have they put green snooker table covering on the walls in there? its filthy, the walls are full of marks where they have had pictures on the walls for years and then taken them down, and the chairs where broken to.
This was unfortunately booked through Alpharooms. When you look at the hotel from outside or from the side view even, you see everyone gets a full size balcony, when you book with alpharooms did we get one? no we didnt. If you look at the side of the hotel, so you can see the hotel entrance, look towards the rear of the hotel, you can see much much much smaller balconys, it actually looks like windows on a fire escape, they are that small. This was my balcony, which was so small you couldnt even get two people on it, or even a chair.
The pool area is a mad house all day whilst theres sunshine. People leave there towels there all week and do not move them at all, so youve little chance of a sun lounger.
The cleaner didn't do a very good job in my room as she failed to pick up the ear bud that was on the floor when I moved into the room, which was still there when I left.
Although the massive balls of fluff under the bed did get sweeped up, guess she wasn't that blind after all. Watch out for them picking up dirty towels and putting them over the rail to.
The last thing to mention is the showers, I don't actually know how you were surposed to get the shower head to stick on the wall, when the attachment on the wall was way to big for the shower head, meaning it just fell off. Also there is very little water pressure on the top floors in this hotel.
A word of advice though, this hotel group which had several other hotels only a train ride away, and one up the road, operates a system where you can go and eat and drink in any of the other hotels. I dont know if a 3 star guest can go upto a 4 star, but I definately know it works the other way round. So if you fancy a change, hop on a train.
I would never go back to this hotel, unless it was to watch it being demolished.

The room was very old fashioned but was cleaned every day with fresh towels.
The food was to satisfactory taste but has at least 3 choices of meat veal, chicken, or turkey including rabbit and plenty of chips etc.
The entertainment was ok but lots of ballroom dancing and a mini disco in between. There was 3 shows on a week in the hotel. The hotel offers 2 trips out and the medieval night is a must cost 10 euros each but a brilliant night, and the other is to the Gran Palace with flamenco shows this one is 8 euros.
The hotel is in a good spot as the shops are over the road.
Hotel got very noisy at night with shouting, arguing, in the corridors till at least 3am, take some earplugs.
The staff were very helpful, any complaints and they sorted it.
We would go again but 1 week is plenty not 2.

The rooms were ok, pretty basic but after all you just sleep there, they were clean although if you want to lay in and put your do not disturb sign on, it is ignored and they just clean around you!
The food is ok, although you might come home heavier after eating all them chips and I dont think any food is wasted it turns up the next day disguished as a different dish.
The snacks got abit boring after two days being the same thing, there was no poolside bar so it was an effort to climb up the stairs to the only bar to get a drink when at the poolside perhaps that was to discourage us all inclusives to drink.
You have to find out what goes on at the hotel by other guests because the hotel is not very informative, there is the medevil night which you only pay 10 euros each for and another trip which we were not told about by the reception and you can also book with reception to eat at the royal star and beach hotel which are both 4* hotels.
The bar staff and dining staff are so friendly compared to the rude and miserable ones at the royal star. We actually spent all our evenings at the royal star, their sister hotel it was lovely to be able to drink our drinks out of proper glasses and the entertainment was good too compared to royal stars non existent one well actually I think they had a mini disco each night we never stuck around there for long.
This hotel is difinately not recommended if you want peace and quiet, it is noisy day and night and this time of year no childrens entertainment if your stuck just take them along to the royal star they will keep your kids happy.
Would not stay here again by choice and if it had had rained I think it would be really bleak.

Yummy you might think, but no,it was barely warm and swimming so much grease id have left the sun tan oil at home if I had known. The rest of the food was a mish mash of all sorts which again did not seem to be heated properly and left me wondering where the hell the chef had trained, obviously not with Gorden Ramsey. The hotel was always clean, but that was one of the only good parts!
The hotels food, it's disgusting, it was basically the same every night. The only thing for kids was chips and i think everyone that stays there survives on chips! There wasn't very much choice of food. I was disgusted to see rabbit but no chicken, and most of the food was cold! The breakfast wasn't worth waking up for, and i think the lunch was left overs from the night before.
The hotels location was good for the evening, to look around the shops and go on a walk, however there was a main road outside the hotel which made it very hard to sleep with all the cars beeping their horns. The location wouldn't suit families, as there are way too many rowdy teenagers.
The daytime entertainment programn although advertised was none existent! The entertainment board said there would be water sports at a certain time but nothing ever happened! As for the evening entertainment, it was all in Spanish!
I would never visit this hotel again the rooms were a disappointment and so was the hotel! The official rating for this hotel was a three star but i believe the hotel would struggle with a two star! We ended up moving hotels!

| said: We got a cheap deal on this holiday (£286 each for a week's all-inclusive in August) and I think I probably would have been disappointed if we had paid any more.
The hotel itself is very clean, the public areas are comfortable, and the staff are helpful and good-natured as long as you are polite and respectful to them.
The bedrooms are clean (a bit old-fashioned, but it's an old hotel) but they have no air-conditioning and are stuffy and very hot. We tried sleeping with the balcony door open, but this is impossible because of the noise outside. The hotel is directly across the road from the main bus terminal and taxi rank, and there is a casino downstairs.
Every night we were woken by rowdy youths (mainly Spanish) shouting and arguing whilst waiting for taxis home between 3-6am. There is a main road in front of the hotel and there are police and ambulance sirens blaring past at all hours of the day and night. There was also a lot of noise in the hotel corridors during the night (again, mainly Spanish teenagers.)
There is a TV in the bedroom, you pay 20 euros deposit for the remote control, and you get the money back when you take the remote back (we went out for pizza on the last night with our 20 euros!) There is a safe in the wardrobe, it costs 16 euros plus 6 euros deposit for the key.
The entertainment was probably the biggest let-down. There is a mini-disco about 9pm, with the reps obviously favouring the Spanish kids over anyone else. The music is mainly Spanish, with only a few dances which our kids knew. One night there was a flamenco show, which was really good, and another night there were some Brazilian dancers which were also very good and got the kids to join in some of the dances, but on the whole we were somewhat disappointed with the entertainment.
There were supposed to be activities for the kids during the day, but these were never announced during the course of the day, so most kids (apart from some of the Spanish kids) missed out on these. On several days, waterpolo was on the entertainment board, but we were at the pool every day and waterpolo never happened. Most evenings we just went for a walk around the resort, returning later on when we were thirsty (well, we had to get our money's worth from the all-inclusive!)
The food is pretty standard Spanish hotel stuff. There is always plenty of bread, salad, fruit and pasta/rice. There would be a choice of meats - veal, pork, lamb, chicken, fish etc, cold meats, and a selection of hot and cold vegetables. There would be burgers, meatballs, frankfurters etc for the kids, and a big freezer full of little tubs of ice-cream. As it's a big hotel, you are allocated a set table and mealtime which you must adhere to during your stay, although breakfast is a bit more relaxed - anytime between 7:45-9:45 and sit where you like. Our mealtimes were 12:30 lunch and 18:30 dinner, which was a bit too early for us, but the rep said we could change if we wanted to - just ask the head waiter. The Casino Royal must be the only place we have ever had tandoori turkey for breakfast!
There was a nice Italian evening while we were there, with free shots of Amaretto for everyone.
You have to pay extra for drinks such as beer, cola, juice etc in the dining room (even all-inclusive clients!) but everyone gets a bottle of water at the table and all-inclusive guests can ask for a bottle of white or red wine (they don't tell you about that though...) Some people we spoke to thought the food was terrible and ate out every day, but to be honest, I really don't know what they expected for the price they had paid - if you want A La Carte, then pay A La Carte price for your holiday!
There are a lot of steps in and around the hotel, people with buggies did a lot of huffing and puffing, and it would not be suitable for wheelchair users. There are not enough lifts for the size of the hotel, and not all levels (such as the pool, and outdoor bar terrace) are accessible from the lifts. The "pool bar" is not at pool level, but on an upstairs terrace, and is not open all the time. When the pool bar is closed you have to go to the entertainment bar, which is up even more stairs (actually two floors up from the pool itself).
There are steps up to the hotel reception (no ramps at all, anywhere) and the coach from the airport dropped us off round the corner at the bus terminal! When we arrived, hot and flustered, from Gerona at 11am, we were told that our rooms would not be ready until 1pm. I was actually expecting this, as it is standard in most hotels worldwide not to be able to check into a room until after 12noon, however a lot of people on our coach were very annoyed about this, which just made everyone even more hot and flustered. We were told to leave our cases in the bar, get a drink, go for lunch and everything would be ready after lunch.
The hotel is quite near the main street where all the discos, arcades and Burger King places are. It is about 10 minutes stroll down to the beach. There is a good shop for cheap booze just over the road, and a cheap tobacconists just down a side street. You can get a bus to just about anywhere from the bus station across the road. All-inclusive guests at the Casino Royal get 2 free evening excursions, you just have to pay for your transport. These excursions are booked at the hotel reception desk.
On the whole, we had a good holiday, but we felt very much in the minority compared to the Spanish guests at the hotel, some of whom were extremely arrogant and disrespectful, particularly the Spanish teenagers who spent most of the day throwing each other in the pool, with little thought for young children and other guests; and spent most of the night running round the corridors shouting while we were trying to sleep. The Spanish staff at the hotel were lovely, and so were all the Spanish/Catalan people working in the shops and bars around the resort, but I would not stay in the Casino Royal again, simply because we have been in friendlier, more relaxed places in the Canaries and Balearics. It was OK for a cheap deal though!

| said: When we booked this hoilday, we wanted somewhere quiet and relaxing with lots of things for the kids to do. We were expecting a bit of noise due to it being high season, but nothing like what we got! There was a nightclub directly over the road which opened at midnight till aprox 6am and all we could hear was banging from the music and people running up and down the corridor screaming and shouting. We requested to be moved and were refused. We also wanted a low floor with having young children but were placed on the top floor. I wanted to come home half way through the holiday and it wasn't possible. The food is aquired taste and the entertain at night in the hotel was ok on 2 of the nights. all in all we need another holiday just to get over this one!!!

| said: The hotel rooms were cleaned everyday to a satisfactry degree. The food was to an aquired taste, not mine. the location was fantastic for me as i like to go out clubbin and its just the right distance to drag yourself in on a morning after a night out, but its not right in the middle of it all.
the staff were helpful and on hand when needed.
never experienced the entertainment in the hotel as like i said i like to go out. yes i would visit this hotel again but next time go out more for food and avoid the hotel buffet.

| said: Stayed here in May 2005 ..hard to know were to start..
Room on the 4th floor overlooking pool room tidy, but no towels asked 3 times, wanted extra pillow got fed up asking did without.
Food stuck it for two days enough was enough ate out for the rest of the two weeks,...bar and surrounding area was dirty service not too bad.
Entertainment was awful but o.k early on for young children.
Staff for the most part seemed very un-happy if I worked there I would be the same, noise was un-bearable lots of students in partying 24 hours a day a lot of fighting between themselves too much to drink.
Best time for me came when the coach came to take us to the airport....never, never, never again. I would sooner burn the money for the holiday

| said: I found the hotel very cold and very dreary.
The furniture was all very dark wood.
I actually felt depressed staying there.
Never again not even for free.
