we have just returned from a 2 week break at the crown plaza. first impressions were good but the next day it wasnt so clever. the ood was very repetative and certainly we didnt feel it was up too 4 star standard. in the main restaurant it was like a free for all and several times we had too wait some time too be seated. we were on the i wish package which we were told was all inclusive but it became very confusing as too what we were covered for and what we werent. nobody seemed too know. The staff were very friendly and polite especially the pool staff and waiters. Our bedrooms were very comfy and always cleaned and looked after very well. The pool area needed a good clean as i noted some rubbish on the floor { wet hair} and it took 5 days for it too be cleared away. The marble floor became quite hazardous when wet and i saw several peoplefall quite heavily.

The only other comment is there wasnt much in the way of entertainment and a beach with some sand would have been good. All in all not abad hotel but wouldnt stay there again.

Just got back from a great week as always in Egypt.

The hotel was great except for a few negatives.

There are loads and loads of steps so this is not good if have trouble walking or are disabled which my husband is!
We also experienced a few problems with our " all inclusive" status.

It appears that the hotel covers all the boards and every time you wanted a drink or a meal you had to display your room card.

This is not a problem, but on going to the beach bar on the third occasion the staff still did not recognise you and they started to say that we were only allowed 1 drink per card per person. Maddening when 1 person was going to the bar to get 6 people a drink! I felt we had to justify ourselves all the time!

The only other gripe was that children were not allowed to wear t shirts in the swimming pool unless they were a made of a certain material.

Never really got to the bottom of what material as some t shirts were allowed and others were not. So parents of small children ,make sure you take the swim suits that covers little ones shoulders!

Food fantastic and of course so was the weather! Going back in August!!!

Had the best holiday ever - hotel was fantastic - loads of sun beds and if you come down to the pool/beach late a member of staff will locate you beds and a parasol and set them out for you wherever you want.

Snorkeling, diving - equipment for both to hire on site and sea is full of colourful fish - in fact you don't need to go in the sea to see them - no beach as such but lots of sand on small terraces - really done well. Volley ball, pool activities most of the day.

Restaurants reasonable priced but alcohol bumps up the price and the wine is a bit iffy - wee took a box of wine with us in our case, kept in the fridge and enjoyed a cold glass or two on our balcony. Food very nice at Al Hawari and Alaa was most the most entertaining waiter with little puzzles each evening.

Breakfast was a strange experience with lettuce and cabbage on offer ! But the omelette's were fabulous and fresh bread, cheese and pastries everyday. Tea/coffee is a palava but we found if you sit near a waiter 'station' you can get their attention and try to get the same seat everyday and they soon get to know how you like your coffee and pour it out as soon as they see you come in.

We also had lunch at the C-view bar - again reasonably priced and good food.

We found ALL staff very helpful and friendly - even the holiday rep was wonderful - very knowledgeable and not at all pushy.

Will definitely go again.

We stayed half board but if we return we will stay B&B as we didn't think much of the evening meal and the lack of places to sit (breakfast was good but again lack of spaces to sit). This was really our only complaint for this hotel everything else was great!

The hotel was kept very clean at all time.

The location was very good and the hotel had a coutesy bus free of charge to Naama Bay (10 mins down the road).

The staff were very helpful and friendly.

The rooms were very nice with plenty of space for clothes and the bathroom was very large (just right). Room service which we had on 2 occasions was very good and inexpensive.

We didn't go to any of the entertainment so difficult to say.

We would definitely return to this hotel and that is something we never do. The place was well set out we were in block 1 which I can highly recommend. The views are great and the pools are fine. Never had a problem putting towels out even at 9am. The snorkling was great, we were amazed by the fish.

We did quad biking and booked with the chaps by the floating jetty at £15 each. It was great and would do this again when we return.

We had a great holiday and want to re-book for next year back to the Crowne Plaza.

Just one warning if you having walking difficulties you may have a problem with all the steps, however, they do offer a golf buggy service if you contact a member of staff.

This is a brilliant hotel, offering excellent value for money.

It's spotlessly clean, and we had clean bed linen every day. If we had wanted could have had clean towels each day but choose not to for environmental reasons. The rooms are of excellent quality and larger than the brochure pictures make them appear. A huge shower room with complementary toiletries, two queen sized beds per room, ample wardrobe space all quality wooden fittings.TV with film channels & cartoons for the kids. Free in room fridge, in room safe, air conditioning and tea & coffe making facilities. Large patio doors onto a furnished terrace looking out to quiet gardens. So relaxing. The male made kept the rooms spotless. We tipped him 10 pounds for the week, but that was for 2 rooms.

There were 4 pools, we preferred the Roman Pool it was gorgeous, and we ate at the Italian Restaurant which overlooks this pool, Via Vento two evenings, lovely food, but not many tables so best to reserve.

The CV BBQ was the other nice place to eat with views over to Namma Bay. Didn't try the Tapas bar or Arabic Cafe but they also looked good. We also had food on room service a few times. Although a limited menu this was excellent as well and resonably priced.

Buffet breakfast in 'La Veranda' offered a huge choice of foods, although some of the combinations would seem odd to the British palate as they were catering to a large no of Italians and Russians as well.

The hotel has a great location it's on the Garden Reef, which is sheltered and therefore not as windy as other parts of Sharm. There is no beach as such and you enter the sea from 2 jettys. My husband and eldest reported the snorkelling to be fabulous. There are terraces by the sea to sunbath on, guys by the jetty to purchase your trips from and the hotel has its own dive school offering shore diving. You get towel cards so there is no need to pack beach towels.

The young Egyptian male staff couldn't do enough for you, (yes you had to tip, but not much and it is part of the culture there). Drinks and buckets of Ice would be brought to our sunbeds whenever we asked, any combination of fresh fruit juices made up for you.

There was the usual type of entertainment, pool games & aqua aerobics at the seafront pool, music at the arabic cafe. My family used the health club for tennis a few times, whilst I swam in the lap pool (freezing at 5pm) I had this to myself, it was like my own private pool.

Trying to think of a few negatives? The hotel is spread over a large area with lots of steps which would be a problem for anyone with walking difficulties.
It's not walkable to Namma Bay (5 to 10 mins in a cab) but the hotel has it's own taxi rank out of the hotel reception to the left and they don't cost much more than the 'blue and whites' and look much safer! They are grey. There a free mini coach as well but it gets booked up early and goes in early. (5pm)

There is still building work going on either side of the hotel, but it doesn't interfere with your holiday, and there is building work everywhere in Sharm.

At breakfast aquiring coffee and tea is a bit of a lottery. Waiters don't seem to be allocated to specific tables. They also can't clear the dirty tables quicky enough for new diners to be able to sit down at a clean table. I Suspect that's why Thomson give only give the Crowne Plaza 4T's and not 5T's this is probably an accurate reflection of the feedback they receive.

Hope to visit again someday.

The hotel was absolutely fantastic, the facilities were fantastic and it really is a top class hotel.

The staff are very friendly and will help you all they can.

There is lots of pools and the main ones are next to the sea and small beach which has a jetty and the snorkeling is amazing. Watersports are available n there is lots to do through the day.

I didn't really rate the food, except room service was good but my boyfriend loved it and I suppose I am quite picky!!

The entertainment wasn't very good, may have been the time we went but they had a children's disco and a quiz one night but we tended to go into town anyway.

Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Without repeating much of what has already written about the Crowne Plaza, we found the hotel to be everything we were hoping for.

The hotel rooms, common areas and gardens were spotless.

We only ate breakfast and a light lunch at the hotel and found breakfast to be slighty lacking in choice, but lunch at the C view bar was fine.

The location of the hotel was lovely, very peaceful, beach area very nice and sea, well, what can I say!!!

Staff were all absolutely fine, friendly and helpful.

Entertainment non-existent!!

I am sure sometime in the future we will return.

This is a beautiful Hotel and spread out over a very large area. We stayed in a standard room which was very nice and spacious, with a walk in shower. Housekeeping came everyday.

There is building work going on currently but it is only audible at the beach area, but to be honest it did'nt bother us at all (and i am very picky!).

The Italian restaurant offer the best service and food is very nice.

The C-view restaurant by the beach is also very nice, but expect a slower service as they seem a little more laid back.

The Coral reefs at this hotel are extremely good, there are two jetties to go off, the concrete one to the right of the beach is the better one though.

For a really relaxing night visit the Arabic cafe and laze on the comfy seats smoking a Shisha pipe also known as Hubble Bubble pipes.

This is a fantastic hotel, we will definitely go back one day.

We absolutely loved the Crowne Plaza - neither of us have ever stayed in such a great hotel!! The look of it was beautiful, it was very very clean, attractive.

The staff were amazing.

The pools great, and the rooms comfy - need I go on!!!

I wasn’t too impressed with the breakfast, but I am very fussy - my boyfriend loved it, and I must admit that you did get a lot for your money. Our fave on site restaurant (and only one we really ate in a couple of times) was the Italian one by the Roman pool - really fab food and the Movenpick ice cream cart there too is to die for (better than Haagan Dazs by miles). The restaurant also is very nice and romantic in the evenings as the pool is all lit up.

The beach area is good (we were impressed) although we felt the coral reef wasn’t too amazing (I had done scuba diving at some great sites with emperor diving school however, so it was never going to compare really).

The room was very attractive and very comfy, the bathroom was stunning and very spacious, the balcony (veranda area) was perfect to relax on in the sun and the other room facilities such as the electric safe, fridge etc were also very very impressive. Our cleaner did wonders with our room - we did tip him, although hardly anything (only about 50p a day) yet he did wonders with our room - folded any clothes that were out, made our beach towels into swans and snakes - just fab!!

I got very ill during the holiday (gastroenteritis and dehydradration, and ambulance had to be called (I was in intensive care for 4 days) and I must say that the hotel management were fantastic - they dealt with everything really well and made sure we were both ok and that the room was all cleaned and sorted for us when we came back from the hospital.

We never went to any of the entertainment in the hotel, but there seemed to be lots of karaoke’s and other functions on that looked quite fun, however I recommend Naama bay for the evenings - the meals are amazingly cheap and there are some great restaurants there (our faves were the Hard Rock cafe, the Camel bar, and an Italian that’s part of the camel hotel called 'pomodoro')

Overall we had a great time in Sharm el Sheikh and we would defo go back to the Crowne Plaza, or if not there, the Hyatt Regency - another fantastic hotel in Sharm!!

If you choose the Crowne Plaza enjoy it!!!

This is a really pretty hotel, with low rise buidings on several levels down to the sea.

It's not that new, so furnishings and rooms were clean and adequate but not plush.

We ate breakfast in the buffet restaurant every day - typical international style buffet food which was fine. We had lunch in the beach bar every day; it was quite cheap, and the food was really good. Mostly barbecue meat or fish. We also ate in the Italian restuarant twice and the Tapas Bar once, and found the food to be really excellent, and good value for money in each. Beer and wine are not cheap, so the overall cost can seem high, but food is reasonable.

The location is great if you want to dive or snorkel - it's right on the Far Garden coral reef and you can swim over the reef straight off the hotel jetty. It's a 10 minute drive into Na'ama Bay, which suited us, but might be incovenient for some people. There's a hotel shuttle bus at 6.30 and 8pm which is free, the hotel taxis are 30LE and local taxis home were usually around 40LE.

All the staff were enthusiastic and helpful. Most spoke excellent English.

We weren't really interested in the entertainment, but there were activities around the pool every day, a dive school and water sports company on site, live music in one or two of the restuarants every day etc.

We'd definitely recommend this hotel, and go back again. The only minus was that they were building the new Sheraton hotel next door, and there was some noise. This is probably inevitable in a growing resort though.

Fab hotel, location great for garden reef off jetty. Staff very friendly and can't help enough.

Room very clean with mini bar fridge (payable locally), safe (no charge).

Food in hotel restaurants (Italian, tapas, c v bbq) was ok so was the room service menu.

There are a lot of steps to get from one level to another but there is a road either side of the hotel that you can walk down to the sea if steps are a problem.

There is building work on hotel next door with noise some days worse than others, it did not spoil our holiday and I would recommend this hotel we are returning in October.

Because of the sheltered location you do not get any choppy seas as we have experienced in other hotels in Sharm it's flat calm great for snorkelling. There is a dive shop on site that does shore dives straight off the jetty.

Entertainment - there is an animation team in hotel who do the usual entertainment around the pool - keep fit, formation dances, pool games etc, there were live singers in the tapas bar and c v bbq bar few nights a week.

The hotel is fabulous and the staff couldn't be more helpful. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return.

The rooms were lovely and were cleaned every day with fresh towels. The surroundings are very palatial and the staff are very hospitable and helpful.

There is no beach as such, but a jetty from which to snorkel and swim. The pools are very clean and beach towels are provided every day on your way to the pool.

When we arrived, a couple who had been there for one week already told us that the food wasn't that great, I have to disagree completely, so obviously this is a very personal thing. There was a huge choice of food and not a chip in sight!

We were half board and both breakfast and dinner were the highlight of the holiday!! In the morning, tell the egg chef how you like your eggs and enjoy endless refills of coffee and tea. In the evening, there was something for every palate. Two evenings out of the seven that we were there, there was a barbecue with lamb koftas and marinated chicken, jacket potatoes, you name it. It was delicious.

There seemed to be mostly Russian and Italian guests in the hotel and there were many families with kids, although not enough kids to annoy anyone! The entertainment team were really good with the kids and it was definitely a child friendly hotel.

The entertainment in the hotel wasn't that spectacular but keep in mind that it was only March. There were two evenings of dancing displays (which the men enjoy!) and the usual guy on a keyboard. But we still had a ball chilling out at the Al Kahwa Arabic cafe which was just outside our room. You can sit here with a coffee or something a bit stronger, smoke a sheesha pipe and just relax.

Despite the lack of entertainment, I would definitely recommend this hotel, I will definitely return.

This was our second visit to the Crowne Plaza this year. I suppose that this says enough really. This hotel is a good 4* +.

The rooms are spacious and clean. The air con is quiet & efficient. You are supplied with everything that you need in the room.

Most things are reasonably priced at this hotel. The drinks in some of the other hotels are pricey, but this is not too bad.

Taxis are inexpensive to get into Naama Bay - about £3.00. The guy that gets them for you is called Sharif. He speaks about 6 different languages and is really informative & helpful. If you are unsure of how much a taxi should be, check with him. The blue & white taxis are cheaper.

The location of the hotel is fab. Please respect the do not feed the fish & keep off the coral. It is a living thing and walking on it kills it. PLEASE respect it.

The food is good. The staff are great, although the evenings can be a little dull. We would recommend a beach front sea view room - worth paying extra for, just to be able to sit out and admire the view with a beer in the evenings. There is satellite TV & should you want to have an early one, normally there is an English film on.

The best thing is the snorkelling. We saw on this occasion, blue spotted sting rays, giant morays, trigger fish, everything that is one of the fish guides, we saw, with the exception of the sharks & whales! You can sit in the evenings & early mornings watching dolphins at play if you are lucky, so keep your eyes open.

We booked this holiday not knowing what to expect of Egypt.

When we arrived, we had an awful journey in a taxi from the airport which was an experience! The airport is like a building site!

However, when we arrived at the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised. We liked it so much we hardly left the hotel! It was so big and spacious!

The jetty was fabulous and our views were amazing over the sea. The snorkelling facilities were fantastic and we had lots of brilliant underwater photos when we got back.

Our cleaner was very particular and very friendly indeed.

You could get taxis very easily by just waiting outside the main entrance.

The entertainment was poor and repeated twice weekly.

This is a fabulous hotel.

The staff are great, the position is fantastic. We left the room cleaners 20 Egyptian (£2.00) per day for cleaning the room. We were treated like visiting royalty. We were given gowns, slippers, loofas, you name it, we got it. The towels & sheets are changed daily and you cannot find fault with the cleanliness of the hotel at all.

The comis chef & all the staff in the main buffet restaurant will spoil you. Should there be nothing there that you like (nearly impossible) they will cook something especially for you. All of the staff here are great.

The hotel is situated on the Garden Reef, which is one of the best snorkelling sites. None of us had ever snorkelled before. Wow!!! It is not to be missed. My son was slightly bored (aged 7) there were very few English kids (1 aged 15) although they got on very well.

All of the restaurants are great, try the nicoise salad at the C View BBQ. Excellent!

We had a beach front sea view room. What a view. A long walk up to the main hotel for breakfast, (loads of steps) but who cares when you can have room service breakfast for about £3.00! The height of laziness!

You have a fridge in the room, we stocked up with beer in Naama Bay (about 70 pence a bottle) and enjoyed a glass before dinner out on the balcony, just checking out the view. Chill out.

I would point out that the hotel is not suitable for people with walking difficulties, as there are many steps. I do believe that they will arrange for a buggy to come & collect you, should you need it.

As you enter the sea from the Jetty the fish are all around your feet. Please respect the do not feed signs as it disrupts the balance of the reef. It also encouraged the fish to give a little nip. Don't panic, we all got one! Well worth a small nip once you get in! Snorkelling is the most amazing thing. The water is extremely buoyant and even if you are not a good swimmer, it is virtually impossible to sink. You float like a spider on the surface. Mega!
