Without doubt the cleanest holiday complex we have ever stayed at. Every aspect of the site was kept scrupulously clean from the rooms to the public areas. In addition, the staff are friendly and helpful from the receptionists to the maids and all appeared to work their socks off with nothing being too much trouble. Although we were self catering we did not do much of it and either ate out or at the pool bars where there was a reasonable selection of snacks, and again the service could not be faulted. We British could take a few tips from these people on how to serve efficiently and with a smile to boot!

Our room was located at the beach end of the complex which meant we were not troubled by any noise from the bar area but I can understand that this could be an issue if your room was close by. There was a varied entertainment programme which I suppose accounted for all tastes but I admit that we did not make much use of it; nevertheless it was there if you wanted it.

Air conditioning was an extra payment and after unsuccessfully attempting to do without it we succumbed after a few days. There is also supposed to be a policy of not reserving sunbeds with towels but despite the many notices telling you not to with the threat of having them removed I never saw this policed and they were indeed reserved by towels. That said, on most days there were often beds still free by late morning.

However, these are minor gripes and we were extremely impressed and satisfied with Pefki Islands and would definately consider returning.

We could not fault the hotel for cleanliness. The rooms were cleaned every day except Sunday when the maid had a day off - and she deserved it because they worked so hard and for long days!

The pool bar man Dimitrius was a scream and kept everyone entertained. All the staff were very friendly.

Evening entertainment was diabolical - the reps and in house animation team singing or wailing more like and they weren't exactly attractive more like ten tonne whales! I have to say that little Katie the kids club rep was lovely though and always friendly!

The one big failing that everyone has complained about was the price for air-con and safe deposit box. - 176 euros for two weeks! The trouble was you couldn't do without it because it was 45 degrees every day! I think that Thomsons should get to include it in the holiday price or at least warn you before you go because it is a lot of extra cash to fork out if you are not prepared for it and some people when they go on holiday especially with kids, only have a certain budget!

The only other complaint I had was that we had a room directly at the pool where the eveniong entertainment occurred and as previously mentioned you had no choice but to listen to it and it went on until midnight and it really was dreadful! If I stayed here again I would ask for a room in the newer block as they are further from the evening entertainment.

Apart from that you couldn't fault the hotel and it truly deserves its gold rating from Thomsons and its 99 percent rating from the customer reviews!

The cleaniness of the room was simply excellent, with all you needed for self-catering.

The location of the hotel was very well situated. Not directly in the middle of the Pefki resort, but a short 5-10 min walk.

The staff were helpful. However on arrival at 5 in the morning, no member of staff was there to show where our room was, nor to inform us how to get the electricity working. You need to insert the key into a wall bracket. However, when you first go into a room in the pitch black, how are supposed to find the wall bracket in the first place? Secondly we were located directly next to the pool and entertainment area, which was a definite no-no. We immediately asked to be moved and were told to come back the next day.

The entertainment (we didn't really stick around for this after our initial experience) but what we heard was like a series of cat strangulation exercises. Because we were literally right next to it (about 10 metres) it drove us nuts. The music was too loud, too loud and too loud. There's no way you could sleep through it, unless tanked up.

So we asked to be moved again. Unfortuantely during our 2 week stay we were not moved to another quieter location, so virtually every evening we had to endure endless noise.

Another point to mention is that the air-con (with emphasis on the "con") was another 120-130 euros for the two weeks. Shame Thomson didn't / or Pefki Island Resort web site doesn't give a heads up on the cost.

All things considered, (Earthquake, Fires and real bad entertainment) we had an amazing holiday. The hotel was excellent and would have been better still if we were in a different part of it.

We wouldn't go back. The world's just too bigger a place to explore.

This has to be the best apartment/accommodation I have ever stayed in.

The rooms were newly refurbished and exceptionally clean. The staff were soooo helpful and nothing was too much for them. Katarina in reception, both Nikos's and Dimitri in the pool bars were ace!!
We went as a large party for my sons wedding - my son had stayed here before and there were a lot of people there for whom this was their third or fourth visit (apparantly 75% of their guests have visited before}. I noticed that when a new guest arrived that had visited before the staff greeted them like old friends. I would definitely return. The rooms are very spacious, the entertainemnt good. Kids club a days a week in the sister resort of Lindia Thalassa.

But maybe I shouldn't praise this so much as this is the sort of gem that you need to keep to your self!

This hotel was very friendly, plenty of sunbeds with 3 swimming pools. The top pool was smaller than the main 2 pools - but we preferred the top pool as Dimitri the barman would keep us entertained - warning he likes to make sure you don't get too hot??

Just returned from a two week stay at Pefki island , could have stayed another two weeks , it was so laid back and peaceful I just didnt want to come home.

Our apartment was in the new block, you could smell the newness, the rooms were massive. The kids loved their seperate room with bathroom.

We stayed mostly around the bottom pools during the day, Nikos the bar man was very friendly and helpful, a real nice guy.

Food ordered at the bar at lunch time was excellent, well worth the money.

Reception staff were also very helpful and friendly, the maids worked hard during the day and did an excellent job of keeping our room spotless.

The evening entertainment wasnt great, but we were out in Pefkos getting our evening meal when this was going on so missed it most nights anyway. When we did see it it was only in the background anyway.

We could see from our balcony that the hotel is expanding, with new apartments are half finished, but no work was beening done during our stay. Nikos imformed us that the hotel shuts down at the end of the season and any work needed is done then. So next time when we go back, there will be more appartments, another swimming pool and a restaurant.

This was the first time I had been here with my partner. We love that the rooms are clean and tidy. The staff always remember you when you go back (we have been back since this time). The staff are very friendly and are always willing to help. The bar staff make having a drink entertaining (Lolos is funny!) and evening entertainment is kareoke (johnna) and a cabaret night (Helen). The bar food is pretty good and you can get anything from a fry up breakfast to pizzas etc. The resort is about 10 minutes from all of the restaurants and there is plenty to choose from. You can use both the pools/facilities in this resort and its siter one down the road. There is a little shop in the resort which is handy to pick up essentials when you run out.

I have noticed some people have complained about the music during the day. To be honest, i do not think the music was that loud and the staff are only doing it to make sure its not boring etc for people staying there. I would rather have music in the background, after all, we are all on holiday.

The weather in July is lovely and we did not have one bad day.

We have already booked to go back in July 2007 and are looking forward to a nice relaxing holiday.

Katarina, Lolos, Sakis, Nikos, Johnna, Helen, beware....we are on our way!!

We visited Pefki Islands in early July 2006. We had a two bedroom apartment which was very spacious, clean and fully equipped with maid service 6 times a week.

Even though we were self catering we had breakfast by the pool a few mornings and this was excellent value.

The location of the hotel was good and only about a 5-10 minute walk to all the restaurants and bars of the resort.

The two pools at the apartments were very clean and not too busy (always sunbeds available at any time of day)

All staff at Pefki Islands were polite and helpful.

There was both daytime and evening entertainment on most days and evenings at Pefki Islands and at its sister hotel.

The supermarket nearby had all essentials.

We have booked for 2007 and would highly recommend the Pefki Islands without hesitation.

We have just returned from the Pefki Islands Resort, Pefkos, Rhodes and can honestly say we all had a marvellous time. The hotel is a little out of town but certainly not too far to walk to on an evening and is only a stones throw from the beach although it does mean negotiating the grounds of the sister hotel opposite, the Lindia Thalasis, and a flight of stone steps which was know great hardship.

As it was the end of the season the only entertainment laid on was Karaoke two evenings a week with a very nice English lad called John. The pool-side music was certainly not intrusive although, on occasions, it was a wee bit repetitive. English breakfast round the pool was very reasonable, cooked to perfection and certain satisfied us till well into the afternoon.

The staff are all very helpful and all speak reasonable English, with a special mention for Catorina and Koula in reception, the two bar tenders Sakis and Nikos, and one of the pool side waiters Janis, all of whom were exceptionally helpful, friendly and willing to have a laugh and joke, plus they were brilliant with the kids, they really put the icing on the cake so to speak.

My only qualm was the damn Greek plumbing, but you can't have everything can you?

We stayed in a studio for 2 people although the kitchen area was seperate so felt bigger, really like a one bedroomed apartment.

It was very clean and vey bright in white and blue. It had air conditioning and a hook on the wall for the shower which can be quite rare in Greece.

The two pool areas were very nice both with bar and all the staff were extremely nice. Sunbeds were plentiful so never felt the need to rush down to get one.

To get to the beach which is pleasant although not that long you walked through the hotel grounds next door and down some steps, a mere 5 min walk.

It took a bout 10 mins to stroll into the town where there are plenty of restaurants and bars but not roudy. Didn't really stick around the hotel at night so can't comment too much on the entertainment.

We booked 2 studios one for myself and husband and the other for the boys (ages 15 & 12) Quite pricey as it was peak season and air con came to 265 euros for both which was quite expensive BUT this place was lovely.

I had previously telephoned the hotel regarding the rooms to ensure we were next to the boys and spoke to a lovely lady. We arrived mid afternoon hot and tired and our coach was greeted by the receptionist (who was the lady I had spoken to) we were quickly checked in and were helped with our cases to our rooms.

Our rooms were on the 3rd floor with one overlooking the pool and the other overlooking the front of the hotel. Both rooms were a good size with 2 single beds and fridge cooking rings etc and bathrooms and 2 huge balconies.
The air con was efficient and it was needed as it was very hot.

The pool area we overlooked was the larger pool which was divided in to 2 with a swim up bar, there was also a smaller pool.

There was no programme of daytime activities in Pefki islands but stuff seemed to be organised at the Lindia Thalassa for both sets of guests. This meant that it was quite peaceful around the poolsides with the smaller pool being the quieter of the two. There was music played but it was not intrusive. The pool area and toilets were kept very clean and there was no problem getting a sunbed.

We ate breakfast at the pool bar a couple of times and enjoyed it.

The beach was accessed by walking through the Lindia Thalassa and down some steps, we mostly went early on a morning and did not hire a bed, just basically going for a swim. The beach was so peaceful 9-10 on a morning and it was always clean. It is quite rocky but if you walk to the right it gets less so.

We never bother with hotel entertainment so I cannot comment on that, there was football shown by the smaller pool and sometimes in reception and my husband and son were able to watch cricket also.

The rooms were kept very clean and reception was clean and pleasant.

The Pefki islands resort is set a little way out from the centre of Pefkos but it is very peaceful and quiet, to walk to the main bit took 5-10 minutes bearing in mind that it was very hot and we strolled very slowly.

Our younger son kept a record of everywhere we ate out so that I could review it on here, our favourite places were Artemis (best food, nice atmosphere chocolate cake to die for and good value)

We also liked Macedonia and Nefeli again food excellent and good value Colosseum, Terpsis and the Chinese were good. Philosophia lovely view nice food but not a lot of it and quite expensive.

We were not so keen on Enigma and Nostalgia, not saying they were bad just not as good as the rest.

Our trips were booked with local travel places, did the waterpark (ok)and Rhodes Town by night which was fabulous and left me wanting to go back again. We also went to Lindos on the glass bottomed boat from Pefkos harbour, this was without doubt the best boat trip I have ever done.

Would we go back to Rhodes, Pefkos and Pefki Islands yes to all three but perhaps just as a couple as I think that my younger son was wanting to do a little more to do on a night.

We stayed at the Pefki Island Resorts. The rooms were sparcely furnished but clean and spacious, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Considering the size of the resort, it's within easy reach of the centre (a 5-10 minute stroll). It's set off the beaten track, in a nice quiet location above the beach, which is less than 5 minutes away.

The bar staff were extremely polite and friendly, although try to avoid the "special shot" given to you by Sakis and Nicos!!

The entertainment wasn't too good but was nothing more than expected.

We'd visit this hotel again.

This was an apsalutely fantastic place to stay. Extremely clean and well kept, all the staff were very friendly & helpful, I don't think there clould be a better place to stay in Pefkos.

The 2 swimming pools were very impressive, and we enjoyed the swim up bars. The entertainment was limited, but what there was was good and the place had a very good atmosphere.

The only thing that could have made it better for us was to have food severed around the bar in the evenings. We would definately go back.

We stayed in a two bedroom apartment in a block away from the pools so the music did not disturb us but we could imagine it would for those nearer.

The kitchen is supplied with the usual two rings and fridge plus a kettle and toaster. There was no other table or work surface in the kitchen so we moved the dressing table from one of the bedrooms into the kitchenette to enable us to plug in the kettle etc and make up feeds for our baby. Another small niggle was not having a washing up bowl (first time in many visits to Greece that we haven't)

There are two shower rooms which would be useful for a larger family. Remember to bring a shower mat if you have small children.

We were in a three storey block with no apartments on ground level - all were accessed by steps - we were in the lower ground so we only had one flight to carry a pushchair.

The accommodation is clean and basic with maid-service six days a week. One word of warning - the maids tend to walk right in without knocking which was a bit of a surprise!!

Can not comment on the staff in any detail as we did not spend time around the pool and preferred to explore Rhodes instead.

According to the brochure the hotel is located a short walk through gardens to the beach. It neglected to mention the 60 steps down to it - again not ideal for those with babies. The beach itself is small but pleasant with a gentle shelf into the calm and clean sea. As with so many beaches in Greece and elsewhere it was crammed with loungers but we managed to find space away from them.

We would not visit this hotel again partly because we felt we were paying for things like the "swim-up bar" and evening entertainment that added nothing to our enjoyment of our holiday and partly because we would not want to visit Rhodes again.

The accommodation itself did not merit the price we paid. Admittedly, we only booked two weeks before travelling so our choices were limited.

I have just returned from the Pefki Paradise apartments.

The apartments are well kept but sparse, wet feet and the tiled floors did not mix well for the children. There is no mat in the tiled shower either so take one. Overall the apartment and complex were well kept.

The location of the apartments is ideal for going to the beach 200 yards away (be warned we had to pay 8 Euros a day for the beds) free if you just sit on the sand though. Walk into town is about 15 mins.

The staff at the complex were all very nice and helpful, although the bar staff were less than enthusiastic (note two bar staff at the Lindia Thallassa - Sister hotel were good fun).

My score of one for the staff is unfair in a way as the reception staff and the cleaning staff were excellent, its just the arrogance of the bar staff that drags the score down. Unfortunately the bar staff seemed intent on spoiling everyones holidays by playing endless disco music at full blast through out the day. A request to turn it down was always done and lasted for as much as three tracks before it was turned up again. To my knowledge 4 people complained on a sustained basis and all were ignored. Even a direct order from the hotel manager after a formal complaint by me resulted in them playing quietly until he went off duty at 13:00 when the pool became a rave joint again. These staff were out of control.

That said the accomodation was excellent, and clean.

The beach - or whats left of it - is minimal and overtaken by hotel sunbeds at €4 per person per day, get there early, at the hotel end the beach is only as wide as the length of a single sunlounger in most places. Erosion of the cliffs is making the whole place very unsafe especially for children, already part of the coast road has collapsed.

For a self catering holiday centre to charge €4 PP to use the pool sun loungers - if you want to eat your own food - is extortionate, though I never saw this threat enforced, it is clearly stated on the pool side tables.

The evening entertainment - term used loosly - was dated and boring it was either Karaoke the most people I saw attending this was 20 - shows how popular it wasn't. Worse still Greece is still riding a high from Euro 2004 so any football match the TV was dragged out to the pool and played at maximum decibels no matter what time of night and no matter how unimportant the game, once again this was for the entertainment of the pool staff, not the guests, the majority of whom suffered on their balconies - alas not in silence.

This is not a holiday resort for anyone who wants a quiet time, or with young children who need to sleep. This hotel could be so much more if the management started listening to complaints and acting on them. Like the correspondent in previous reports on this page I was told - no one else ever complained - luckily the local internet cafe brought up this site and I could prove him wrong - lots of people complained, lots of people gave up. This hotel is run for the convenience of the staff, not the holiday makers.

In answer to your question - if had read this site why did I go - the answer is simple this was not my original destination - look and see what I say about the Amaryllis Apartments at nearby Lardos, Pefki Island is paradise compared.

We stayed at the Pefki Island Resort, Pefkos, Rhodes in August 2003 with 8 other family members then all went back again in August 2004 joined by our 8 month old daughter and we are visiting again in August 2005 along with all the family again. You may have guessed we love it there!

The hotel grounds are well kept and the rooms although sparse are immaculate and spacious with maid service 5 times week.

The hotel staff are very very friendly. Katrina who works on reception is exceptionally good at her job and goes out of her way every time to be as helpful as possible.

The bar staff are all good fun and the swim up bars have a relaxed and feel good atmosphere with music. Nicko's is very entertaining.

Last year we meet lots of friends and as a result there are 21 of us all returning as they loved it so they so they much be doing something right.

I have stayed in Spain, Portugal, Dubai and Vegas and places like that but there is something special about this place.

The apartments were in an ideal location, close to the beach and nearby shops, bars & restaurants.

The apartments were spotlessly clean, two lovely pools (had to get up early to reserve sun lounger similarly to any resort you go to during peak season so cant really complain!)

Rooms are very spacious and cleaned daily by very friendly and trustworthy maids. The staff at the hotel were really nice and couldn't do enough for you, especially the girls on reception and evening bar staff who made you feel very welcome.

I am returning to this hotel again this year and cannot recommend it enough.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment on the ground floor. The living area is huge with 2 single beds, TV and air conditioning unit (payable locally) with bathroom off. There is a seperate bedroom with 2 single beds, air conditioning unit and bathroom off. Two bathrooms - wow - super for families. Air con charge = E160 for 14 days for both rooms. The rooms and complex were spotlessly clean and these standards were maintained daily. If you want a sea view room you will need to have a room on a higher floor.

The pool area I felt was a little enclosed with limited views but you soon get used to it. The pool bar did play music all day long 9am - 7pm and when we arrived my immediate reaction was that it was too loud. I mentioned it at reception and it was turned down. They also changed the type of music they were playing which had a heavy beat. Reception said they had never had any complaints before. Whether I got used to it, or whether it stayed down I'm not sure, but it didn't prove to be a problem through the holiday.

The complex is a very short walk from the beach and is on a quiet side of Pefkos. The nearest taverna Philosophia is above the beach and just a few paces away from the complex. It was also one of the best places to eat for traditional Greek food, but was the most expensive too. On site there is a pool table, E1.50 a game - be prepared if you have children.

Entertainment consisted of the usual Englishy things - keyboard music, karaoke, bingo. Not our cup of tea, but seemed to be popular with the majority.

Overall an excellent place to stay, well suited for families with children of all ages, near to the beach and restaurants/tavernas.

We visited the Pefki Island Apartments in July 2004. The pool area is just about big enough for the number of guests and you can nearly always find a sunbed, although the best spots are always reserved very early in the morning – who said the Germans are the worst?! However, the biggest drawback is the constant loud music pumped through the speakers of the two pool bars. This begins at 9am and goes on until the bars close. So if you’re looking for some peace and quiet this might not be the place for you. Having to listen to Enrique Iglesias three times a day would test anyone’s resolve. It worked for the Americans in Panama! Most of the apartments overlook the pool so you can’t escape even by going to your room.
