The Grand Saral has now become part of the Litera group of Hotels. You can now use all three hotels for the pool and all meals are taken across the road at the Icmeler delux ( formerley the park metroplole ) the other is the Idas which is now block B.
Now all that is out of the way..... well the hotel was very basic but in typical turkish it was clean. The pool is not ideal for young children as it has no shallow end and getting drinks is a pain as the bar is downstairs, but all in all its ok.. you will find the pool is alot quieter than the other two. Meals we all across the road in the deluxe, and were, in all honesty pretty good for turkish standards, a good choice of main courses and lots of salads and deserts. We have been to icmeler for years and all in all the choice was good here. Location is fantastic and lots of cheap places to eat if you want to eat out. We have only one major complaint about this hotel and one minor one.... The major one was the fact that they are watering down the spirits, just because you are all inclusive doesnt mean that they have to rip you off in this way, we have never come across this in turkey before and it gives the wrong impression. The minor complaint is that in all the years of going to Turkey i have never come across bar staff as rude as they are in the deluxe part of the complex... please do not let this give you the wrong impression as generally all turkish are pleasant and polite and can not do enough for you...I would stay here again if only for the soft drinks through the day as you need those in the heat and its cheaper than self catering.

The hotel is basic!! Arrived at night, after the long transfer (you do get a comfort stop). Rushed to check in and then check out the restaurant! Shouldnt have bothered, food was cold, bland and hardly anything left! Ok it was end of service. Staff however, very friendly.
Rooms, well bright blue and yellow, clean and modernised bathroom (thankfully). Ill say no more on the rooms...left clothes in suitcase ut it that way!
Bar, basic, plastic beer/softdrink tumblers, wine glasses used for the wine tap..people were saying the wine was watered down, but it got me suitable tipsy!! (white wine).
You can use the sister hotels however for food, drink, pool etc which the Metropole is of much higher standard.
All in all, it was OK, Turkey not renound for their food, but the locals very lovely if only trying to get you to buy something! (just tell them youl be back later).
Would not go back to hotel but would go back to another one, Icmeler is lovely place had an enjoyable holiday! (Except the flight, another story for another day)

arrived after 2 hours transfer from dalaman with a "comfort stop " by goldtrail on the way .. the outside of the buiding looked great and on entering the lobby i thought it reminded me of fawlty towers..

rooms are basic we had twin beds a fridge (old as the hills) a phone and the shower room .. it was clean and modern with a shaver plug .. we were on the entrance floor and at the back so didnt have the best of views but it was ok and didn't bother us

food is turkish so if you are expecting a full english you wil have to eat out but cheap to do so we were £1.50 for 1 at a cafe
lunch and dinner is great but variety is limited we ate at the sister hotel which has a better enviroment you can use the other sister hotels with your all inclusive band too

the bar is outside and drinks are good for all inclusive

swimming pool is basic 6ft deep all round wouldnt say its a kids pool but ok for having a cool dip when the sun gets too hot .. no pool bar though so u have to walk down 2 flights of stairs to get another drink

all in all its a nice hotel bit shabby chic but friendly and cheap .. if you like your 5 star luxurys dont go here but if all want is a room to lay your head with some nice food and great company come here

We would have liked the all inclusive drinks to last longer than 11pm but had a variety of drinks. The room was cleaned everyday and bathroom was above satisfactory. The food was great, had more option at other hotel but we never went as it had everything that we needed.

Hotel location was right in the middle of everything you would want, very lively bars, noise shut off at 12pm so you couldn’t hear anything in bed.

Hotel staff were amazing and helped us with currency and directions.

The receptionist Morat was the most genuine man we met while there, he always had a smile on his face and was always happy to help.

Was really good man. No entertainment at grand saral but sister hotels were less than 5 mins away.

Great entertainment at metropol which try and get you involved.

We would definitely visit hotel again, yes ,yes, yes!
Morat we'll see you soon!!!

Having just arrived home today after staying at the Grand Saral (abacus saral) I felt I should post my own comments.
I loved my time there. We found it clean, friendly and the food was great.

Daily your choice for lunch is pretty much the same but evening meal is usually a choice of 3 dishes which change every day, also there is an extensive salad bar which is always fresh.

Room are pretty basic and decor is dated but when u think about it you aren't really gonna spend much time there apart from to sleep.

The staff were great and the all inclusive bar had a good choice.

I must be honest though we used the telephone in the room a couple of times until we got our bearings which was a big mistake it was extremely over priced (a phone card for public phone was about 14 ytl for 100 credits I was only using 5 credits per 10 min call to UK) and also to roof pool isn't great for kids it has a depth of 6foot and no shallow end (but can use metropol pool!!!!)

So if you're looking for a clean place to get your head down when you're not sun bathing I strongly recommend!!!

when we first arrived at the grand saral it was dark so we couldnt really tell anything from the outside but the lobby seemed ok we were helped to our rooms by the staff who where very polite and freindly the whole holiday but when we got to our rooms we thought good god the decor seemed it was somthing from the sixties dark green fittings gold curtains and a burgundy carpet blue tiled bathroom, we said we couldnt stay there and was told to wait for the rep who informed us there was no way we could be moved but we could use the other hotels in the complex for our food and drinks so we stayed and made the most of it however we could not unpack properly as there was only 6 coat hangers in the wardrobe and no shelves and only 2 little drawers.
the pool wasnt very big not many sun lounges but we used the the metropol 1 instead which was big and had entertainment night and day.
i dont really want to complain too much because i feel with a refurb this hotel apart from the food could be nice as its is in a great location only 5 min walk to the beach, clean and the staff are superb.

Well we visited this hotel last year before it went all inclusive and it was fab!! This year we also returned just before it turned all inclusive and yet again we were greeted with are favourite friends in the hotel HASAN AND MURAT these are lovely people and make you feel so welcomed and are always there to have a laugh with working long hours throughout the day and night.

The pool is in a good place on the roof however nit upset about the bar being shut down on the pool floor but the new layout on the ground floor outside is looking really nice.

Rooms are fab like always! And clean can't moan!

I would definatly stay at this hotel again
these people can't do enough for you especially Murat and Hasan!

Love you both! See you next year hopefully

After reading most of the reports on here it makes me question the attitude of some brits on what they expect for the money they pay for a holiday here.
First off this hotel has only just become AI and part of abacus managment this year. Although dated and in need or a re-fit of the room (not including the bathrooms) Its clean and tidy, fresh towels daily etc.
The food is ok and edible plus you can also eat over in the metropol hotel if you wanted more choice.
The staff were extremley helpful as always and working sometimes til the early hours but still the to help with a smile on their faces A big HI to our friends Murat,Hassan on reception and Gerkan and Elif in the bar.
We will see you all next year :)
One thing to add....Please do not move the pool downstairs as its great where it is just open the bar upstairs as it was last year or have 2 pools!!!
Yes this year there was a lot of double bookings that were Goldtrails fault not the hotels.

This hotel was brilliant and will hopefully be going back there soon, its wel worth the money. Me and my two friends all had the times of our lives here.
The rooms were very nice and were regularly cleaned and air conditioned which was super. In fact the whole hotel was clean.
The food was well lovelllly!!..can't say anything bad about it, well worth payin for all inclusive!

The staff were absolutely amazing and extremely friendly and funny! They were allllways willing to help you and couldn't have made you feel any more welcome. The bar staff were so awesome! Gökhan and the others, they always had a smile on their face and were always happy, polite and a laugh. The night receptionist Hassan, was amazing and one of the most friendliest people i have ever met. Also the bar played some brilliant music just listening to that was great lol.
Although there wasn't much entertainment at this hotel, the bar was good to sit at :) and the staff made it entertaining!, and the town was full of brilliant shops and bars so we just spent a lot of the time there and if you did want entertainment then you could go to the sister hotel across the road.
The swimming pool was small, but still was nice to swim in and there were many sunbeds around the pool so everyone was able to have one.

To begin with our flight was delayed by 6 hours due to our plane having to make an emergency landing. No apology or compensation was given for this.

We arrived at our resort at 12.30am on Saturday 8th September only to be told, via letter, that our hotel (Grand Saral) was full!. We were then placed in the Belle Mar for one night, with no apology or explanation, no water or food. We therefore had to pay extra to go out at 1am and find food and drink. The Belle Mar was so dirty that I got covered in flea bites all over my head from the pillows and slept in a towel as my sheets were so filthy.

We were promised by the rep on the coach that our room would be sorted by 9am the following morning. Despite chasing the hotel management and our Rep Jonni, we did not get our room until 2pm. Therefore 1.5 days of our holiday were already wasted. We had not slept for 29 hours by this point!

The room was covered in dirt on the carpet, with trodden in sweets included - and had not been cleaned or dusted. The bed sheets did not fit the bed and we were given a torn curtain to sleep underneath. With the exception of the bathroom, the room was not cleaned or vaccumed throughout our stay.

On the Saturday as we were so appalled by the Saral we tried the sister hotel - the Metropol for dinner. Unfortunately as we sat for our evening meal the chair leg snapped and the chair collapsed and I landed on the base of my spine and cut my hand on glass which was already on the floor. I suffered terrible back pain throughout the holiday and am now being referred for treatment for a slipped disc in my lower lumbar region (L 4 & 5 ). We informed the hotel manager of this accident and he responded by saying: "Oh dear, never mind".

We went straight to our rep Jonni the next day to report it, who responded in the same noncholant way. I advised that she may want to log it in an accident book, she said she should but was too busy and to come back another time. By this time, I was in tears and desperate to get home and exasperated that no-one seemed to want to help - or even just apologise. We tried on countless occassions to find Jonni but she was never there at her alloted times. When we did track her down, she would tell us to wait a minute and then disappeared and didn't come back, it was apparent she was avoiding us. I know she did this to numerous other guests also, as we were all equally angered by her apparent lack of interest and willingness to help.

Despite our attempts, my accident was never logged by Jonni. Neither did the hotel or our rep give us any first aid, details of a Doctor or hospital.

The food in the Saral was relatively tasty but very limited and always cold. There is no method used to heat the food other than metal plates. This resulted in me getting a severe case of food posioning.I spent the remaining two and a half days in the bedroom being violently ill, three weeks later I am still unable keep anything down.

I regularly go on low budget all inclusive holidays at the end of the year and have never experienced anything so awful from start to finish before. The staff in the hotel pay you no attention unless you are female, 16 and blond. All the facilities, including the pool and other communal areas are dirty and dangerous. My partner cut his toe on some glass on the floor by the pool!

We have still had no response to our complaint and are going to see our solicitors

Don't use goldtrail or the Saral

The grand saral, sounds great but be very careful not to go here, we called it the villa Bella [fools and horses]we also named it the un ;/ unclean unhealthy unsafe unfit unhelpful uncaring uninteresting uninhabitable its our honest opion of this slum 3* more like 0*. Live wires dirty floors, dirty grained towels and bedding. Rusty nails for locking balcony doors. Fishing gut holding shower rail up, exposed wires above your head in the shower go here at your peril. Every day newcomers from all over UK. Husbands complaining wives just breaking down in tears im not being funny this happen daily at the slum, the resort of ishmeler is very nice, good restaurants entertainment value for money would visit again but not within sight of the pits they call the grand saral. Please take my advice and save yourselves the heartbreak of not enjoying your holidays as we found to our considerable cost.ps rep didn’t want to know only interested in booking excursions also non existent room service

My husband and I travelled to this hotel with our 2 kids aged 14 and 11, on arrival we were greeted by very pleasant staff who quickly showed us to our rooms, although the rooms were clean, they are in much need of some TLC, as everything in them are dated and well used to say the least. Our first impressions of the hotel food was good, we stayed all inclusive but really wished we'd of gone self catering, don't get me wrong the food was nice but being in the centre of town there were so many different restaurants to choose from. The hotel pool was a joke, the pool bar was closed a long time ago, so you have to go down 2 flights of stairs to get a drink, but just across the road there is a sister hotel called Abacus Metropol, which you can use, nice big pool with plenty going on for kidswe were told we could only use the drinks AI at that hotel but this wasn't true, you can also eat there. Dont expect any kind of entertainment at this hotel, you will be very disappointed, although that said, theres plenty of night life and entertainment in most of the bars. The people here are all lovely, they go out of their way to help and make kids feel welcome. We went on a lazy day bbq boat trip with a great turkish guy called cheeky b....r!! it was a fab day and the food on board was lovely,it was only £8 adults and £4 kids, fab day out!!! The market in Icmeler is on a wednesday, that is an experience in itself, its open from 9am until 7pm, just remember to haggle!! The weather was absolutley scorching so remember to take high factor suncream for the kids.
Anyway, think ive said enough now, I would not return to this hotel ever even if it was free, but, the resort is fantastic and can't wait to get back there.

Not really three stars as we were led to believe. Have stayed in 2 stars to five stars all over the world. This was very dated and sadly the rooms were not clean. Part of the complex with abacus a and b but definitely the poor cousin. Excellent drinks and water available all day til 11.00pm and the choice of eating at the other hotels in the complex. Breakfast limited and no english tea! Reception staff helpful and friendly. Despite the bathroom being cleaned the carpet was never vacuumed in the whole week. Had to wait for our rooms on arrival despite the flight being 3 hours late ( with no explanation)and were then told that rooms our three rooms would be on three different floors. Not suitable for a family with young girls and an under 11 year old. It was sorted but not the connecting rooms we were led to belive we would have by goldtrail. Location is excellent just a few minutes from the sea and right in the middle of the shopping area but since the hotel has no double glazing and poor fitting windows and doors the noise from the bar/club just across the road kept the children up until at least 1 every morning. Would not go to his hotel again but would definintely want to visit the area again

The rooms are fine great air conditioning at no extra cost. Food was ok it wasn’t brill by any means. The hotel is part of 2 other hotels in the complex which you can use your wristbands to eat and drink until 23.00 a good hotel and very friendly remember this is 3 star so don’t expect the Hilton

Would also like to say that murat an hasan are the most amazing people in the world! Missing you lots haha!

It is now an all inclusive hotel which is a shame this means we have no more hasan at the pool during the day.

Was a brilliant holiday and would go back an stay there again!

We booked a last minute deal and when we got home read reviews about the Grand Saral and how it did'nt compare to the two other hotels within this complex across the road. Once there we could'nt have been more happy, we wanted a relaxing time and that's what we got. The staff all round we very helpful and our room was cleaned and hoovered every day. The pool area is on the second floor,(no bar that is downstairs, all of a 30 sec walk ) and although a little dated was clean and tidy, but it is 6ft deep all over. The hotel is in a great location, but saying that the town is not big at all. If you want entertainment you will have to go over the road, if you want quite, stay by the bar in the hotel and nightlife is just a bar away. This hotel is alot smaller than the others and the staff have more time for personnal help, the air conditioning is a must and worked fine ( no extra cost ) fridge in room and shower area was spot on. rooms are a little dated and unlike some we did'nt pay for our room key, just told if we lost it then it would cost 30 lira. so hand it in when you go out. Safety box did cost 15 quid,no hassle for piece of mind. Food, well your on holiday in Turkey, if you want all English then go to Benidorm, easy.

first time all inclusive we didnt pay much for the holiday as it was a late deal, well worth the money we paid for the week.
hotel was clean, room was large and cleaned everyday. all the staff were really friendly and helpful. the bar area is lovely and bar prices (had to pay after 11pm) arent that expensive compared to rest of resort.
the food is basic and there wasnt loads of choice but it all tasted good plenty of salad and chips, there are loads of nice places to eat in the resort anyway. No entertainment but again plenty to do round the resort. the only problem was the bar across the road was very loud but the music did stop at about 1 am which was fine for us but may be a problem if you have children.

The Grand Saral, Although improved from previous reports wasn't upto scratch in my eyes.

The Hotel's Cleanliness itself was very good, although on the other hand, our room was never hoovered or cleaned, we had to get our own linen from a cart left outside and were given towels everyday which were not needed. Unfortunately due to tiles being in the door area, my dad slipped, in which he broke and fractured his arm and spent the majority of his holiday in Caria hospital, which was located in Marmaris.

The hotel's food is not fantastic, but the ability to cross the road and eat at the Abacus Metropol which had the same food, but carried a larger selection since it caters more for children through to teens. Ice here are taken from bagged ice but salads washed in water are still questionable.

The hotels location is smack bang in the middle of Icmeler with local shops and food resturants surrounding it. i found some local shops were very good in dealing with you now the "No Hassle" law has been enforced. I found a little shop called the "Local Herbalist" which sold fresh Turkish Delight and unusual Teas.

Although upon arrival the staff seemed demanding asking for 30 Leera and a passport as a deposit but apart from this, hotel staff were very good. The boys at reception were always willing to help and sometimes seemed like they never left the hotel, the manager of the bar ( we often called her the Dragon ) was unreasonable at times, once 11 pm struck they then charged rediculous prices for soft drinks. The guys and girls at the bar were always with a smile on their face.

in the lines of entertainment, there was none in this hotel, unfortunately you had to travel to other hotels or bars/resturants since this hotel seemed to have nothing for children, teenages or young adults.

Although the hotel is of better standard then previous years i would not goto this hotel again simply because the food and entertaiment is unsuitable for the guests who stay there, i would personally prefer a more upbeat hotel which offered more then just food and alcohol.

hope this helps

Andy

My daughter and I stayed here all inclusive and have just returned 16th July. The hotel is 3 star and we were pleased with the hotel and the staff were so so friendly and so helpful esecially Ferdi (waiter) and George the guy on reception.

We were allowed the use of the other sister hotels of abacus (metropolis and iduz) these were both of very good standard.

The hotel is ideally situated near the beach with only a five minute walk.

The pool at saral is not up too much but hey it's a pool and is clean.

There is a bar there where you can help yourself to water and juices. The other main bar is only down the next flight of steps for those of you who wish other refreshments.

Cakes and coffee are also served 4-5. we will definitely be going back to this hotel as we felt so welcome and as I have said the staff were so welcomming and helpful.

Thankyou to all the staff at saral for making our holiday so enjoyable.

we will definitely see you again Karren and Rachael from Chorley, Lancashire.

The hotel is part of the abacus group there are 3 more hotels over the road. The internet says that you can us all facilities at the other hotels.

This was not the case, the day we arrived that was withrawn (apart from using the pools). So that you could use the pool and watch the entertainment at night but not get your all inclusive drinks.

The evening we arrived it was after 9.00pm and enquired if there was any food we were told no! (we found out later that there was food for people who arrived on the same bus were staying the complex).

They opened the bar which was in the garden, there was 2 tables with chairs outside. Then each day they did work on the bar whilst you were there even angle grinding the marbles steps, each day they put out more chairs and tarted up the bar area. By the end of the week, the outside garden seating area/dining area was complete.

The pool is small and a bit broken up, very few sunbeds 30 is being generous I think, it is on the 2nd floor of the hotel, there is a bar by the pool, but that was not open although there is water and fruit juice you help yourself to.

The rooms are adequate the bathroom is fantastic and our air con was fab, tv (no remote or channels), fridge, carpet in the bedrooms (past its best). Food, we were warned that turkish AI is not the same as anywhere else, the food was ok (that is generous).

There was a small choice, it all tasted ok there was lots of salad stuff, but most evenings only 2 meat dishes (if lucky) then some veg.

The food is brought over the road from the complex in trays covered with bin bags! We ate out mostly, restaraunts round and about are cheap and really need the custom as the AI is killing them.

We were chatting to a couple who were put in the attic rooms and that was horrendous (no aircon), no balcony, no maid service! they were moved later in the week. The problem with this hotel is that it has just joined the chain and is not up to the abacus standard.

The pictures on the internet show abacus main pool and facilities, you know you are the poor relation as soon as you go over the other complex.

By our 4th day the owner had been down and the rep had told us that we could use all the facilities over at the other complexes , but could we eat in the saral occasionally.

This hotel is now due to be upgraded once the season finishes. If you are going here, check for sure you can still use the facilities in the abacus complex, and dont expect to much of the saral.

This is the first time we had been to turkey and the hotel did not put us off. It was clean and the staff are friendly.

One tip is there is a local beach bus from the abacus, it takes you to a beach further up the resort and you are waited on hand and foot all day by the boys. They bring you drinks and a menu for lunch to eat on the beach or you can use the restaurant just off.

You are under not obligation to buy a drink. But the fresh orange juice (ask for a small) is fresh and worth starting the morning off with.

When we arrived the staff were very helpful, couldn't do enough for us.

The room was okay for the price we paid.

The food wasn't too bad, but it's only a three star hotel.

The location was great for us, close to all the amenities, and as for the staff, we thought there were really friendly and helpful especially Hassan, George also was very helpful,(reception boy)

As for entertainment we didn't need any when we had Hassan.

I will be going back to the hotel, friendly, helpful atmosphere that's what this hotel offers you.

From arrival to departure we were looked after by Ali Baba and the fourty theives . A lot of the staff were very keen to make some money from you , from arranging trips and excursions to changing money .

We were told to pay bar bills, for food and drink which we had not consumed . We were advised not to go on trips with our tour operator . We later found out that the trips on offer from the hotel were uninsured. The staff were threatening towards us when we questioned some bar bills .

The manager of this hotel did not seem to be in control of his staff.

Be vary wary if you stay at this hotel.

We were a little bit scared going to this hotel after reading all the bad reviews, how wrong we were.

The hotel is getting old a lick of paint needed.

The rooms were clean, new bathrooms maids cleaned everyday.

The staff were great, Hassan at the bar pool was great nothing to much trouble and John at night at the pool bar was great.

The hotel is at the centre of the town you cannot go wrong.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

I have to say that before I left for my holiday I was worried after finding this site and reading all the reviews on this hotel, I even rang up the tour operator and spoke to the rep directly afer hearing bad reports about legionnaires disease and all sorts of junk.

The hotel was lovely, it was very basic, but it was spotlessly clean, the staff were very friendly and very attentive, nothing was too much trouble.

The air condiioning was payably locally but I dont really mind paying £2 a day to be cool.

The cleaner came in every single day and our room was always spotless, clean linen, and clean towels every single day, bathroom was cleaned also every day. She even left us a note when we left saying how lovely we were and hoping to see us again.

The pool guy Crazy John is hilarious, we spent a lot of our time at the pool, we were left alone, we were even allowed to swim at night.

So dont listen to all the scare stories, I had a fabulous time and I would definitely go back again, the only downside was the food. I dont like, cheese, cucumber, spicy meat and boiled eggs for breakfast so after the 1st day we never went, but as I could get a full English breakfast around the corner for £1 I didnt really care.

I cant wait to go back to Icmeler and I would stay here again. I cant wait.

I went to Turkey last year in June 2006 and it was my first time of going and I thought it was great.

I would like to say all the staff at the grand saral are so helpful. Hassan and Jone were great they made me laugh and they would do anything for us.

We are going back there in June and I am so looking forward to it.

I love it in Turkey especially the Grand Saral see you all soon.

i would advice every body do go there you will have the best holiday ever

We were apprehensive after reading many reviews but were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is basic but clean which is what you want.

Hassan at the pool bar couldn't do enough for you. Maids were friendly and we had clean towels daily.

I would stay here again no problem.

Pleased to be able to report a definate upturn in this hotel stayed there for two weeks and apart from the usual little niggles (Turkish type breakfast everyday, not enough hot water and no chest of drawers for clothes storage).

It was generally pleasant and certainly kept clean by the hard working cleaners. Also all rooms have had the bathrooms refurbished and new fittings all round.

The staff where pleasant although none of them could claim to be fluent in English we got by ok,we left mobile phones digital cameras and even cash laying around in our room and it was never touched.

Have to say we went there filled with dread after reading some of the reports on here but where pleasantly surprised and in spite of the long transfer from Bodrum airport (not the hotels fault) would consider returning there, the location was very central in Icmeler and a good base to operate from we where informed that the hotel had changed ownership in the last year and this could account for its improvements.

Well I agree with my husband who has also left a message on this site, but also adding that it was our honeymoon and it was wrecked.

I also think the guy who burgled our room while we were sleeping was in some kind of cahoots with the hotel staff. Some of them where very dodgy looking indeed specially the reception ones very unhelpful, even charging us for a drink when we were up all night with police in the lobby because another one of their guests robbed us. I mean charging for a drink when a guest is distraught and in shock it is disgusting, they even tried to charge my husband for a phone call so he could cancel his credit cards as they to went missing, hhhmmmm.

It's all very dodgy and then they had cheek to ask us why we wanted to move from this hotel, well I will tell you now. We moved because it would never have been our choice of hotel had we seen a picture of it in the brochure or on-line (no wonder there wasn't one)

There were light bulbs hanging out of the ceiling in the lifts (very dangerous) and not sorted when I complained. Lights in corridors turned of on a night (very scary and dangerous too) dodgy looking hotel staff.

The rugs in the lobby were an accident waiting to happen I tripped on them dozens of times, oh I could carry on all day and night about this haunted looking creepy place.

I could not wait to get out of there. We were finally moved to Eden Gardens in the old village and it was wonderful.

I would go back to Eden Gardens but I will never go back to The Grand Saral(Sarba) they want to get a new owner or the owner wants to employ some decent staff and get that place sorted out. It needs a good interior decorator and it totally needs refurbishing or a bulldozer and get rid of the place.

This hotel is the absolute pits!!

On arrival the staff tried to rip us off with the air conditioning stating that it was extra and a special code was needed (Untrue).

The self-service breakfast was all left out uncovered for god knows how many insects to crawl over. The so-called fresh juice was disgusting.

The bar at the pool was hardly ever attended. We woke up on our third night to find another English tourist in our room rooting through our suitcase at 01:30 in the morning and when I jumped out of bed to ask what he was doing he first tried to get past me and when he realised that there was no way I was going to let him get past me he turned and jumped over the balcony (bearing in mind that we were on the 4th floor).

Our Digital Camera and Wallet were stolen with all our money and credit cards in and were never recovered by the police. I suspect that he was in cahoots with some of the hotel staff and had already passed these items out to them. The hotel staff were very unfriendly and unhelpful.

A few other guests then informed me that they had heard their room door handles being tried on a night too. I would not wish my worst enemy to stay in this hotel and I wouldn't trust the staff as far as I could throw them!!!

Stayed in the Grand Sarba,Icmeler for 2 weeks in September 2004.

Dirty, wet towels on the bed and dirty floor.Unable to close balcony door because it was broken - reported it to reception the first day but nobody came to look at it. Our rep told the manager but he didn't seem interested. Still not repaired when we left for home.

Hotel food was not great, cooked food dry and tastless.Breakfast was outside and wasps were swarming around us which put me off eating.

The hotel was in a nice area near to the shops and eating places.

Staff were not very friendly, particularly at reception.
Disappointed with no entertainment at the hotel but the pool bar was ok except that the music was much too loud-hard to have a conversation with others. Pool bar staff were very friendly - could have a laugh and joke with them.

First time at this hotel-and the last!

Warning re Grand Sarba

This hotel was this pits - staff were not friendly food which thankfully was only breakfast in our case was left in the heat uncovered (loads of fly’s ) and the tea or coffee was undrinkable, crockery was chipped and cracked - the staff would have us believe they could not speak English when we tried to complain.

Apart from the above the worst part was my husband took unwell on the second week of our holiday and a doctor was called in, he was removed to the Caria Hospital in Marmaris where he was diagnosed with Pneumonia. He was very sick and had to undergo tests and stay in for 10 days. On the fist night in hospital another holidaymaker was brought in with the same illness and, guess what, he was also staying at the Grand Sarba. He also told us there were other people in this hotel sick with the same symptoms. On returning home this person phoned us to let us know that the sick person staying in the room next to his had travelled home and had to go to his doctors who diagnosed him with legionnaires disease

Goldtrail were extremely unhelpful and when I asked the rep who was moving everyone out of the Sarba at the time if it was to do with people being sick I was told it was because the hotel was not busy and didn't have enough staff.

The restaurant we visited across from the hotel told me that lots of holiday makers that stayed at the Sarba ended up in hospital - so I obviously would not recommend this hotel or Goldtrail and it definitely was not 3 star.

Be warned

Stayed in the grand sarba hotel in Icmeler Turkey with my friend for 2 weeks. It was a nightmare travelled with goldtrail, flight was terrible transfer took about 4 hours.

On arrival the hotel was not nice from outside it looked like a haunted house, it wouldnt surprise me if it is haunted.

Staff were unfriendly on arrival, the room was horrible, was not clean, carpets were marked with dampness, air conditioning was not working rooms too hot, lights in the corriders were switched off at night could hardly see where you were going. Cleaners never made much of an impression.

First morning went for breakfast food and drinks were horrible even the fruit juice was horribe.

The pool area was ok music with dj all day and night, the pool was dirty, and had a horrible egg smell.

Food was ok at the bar. Although I would not advise young girls to go to the bar area at night the staff are all very sleezy, basically all over you like a rash, also the staff hire prostitutes and the place is crawling with russian prostitutes at night time.

A young girl who was also staying at the hotel was very distressed as a staff member forced himself on to her and tried to get in her room.

Was also told that peoples personal belongings had disappeared from their rooms. Also heard reports from locals about the hotel, people suffering from food poisoning, legionnaires disease, I would not advise anyone to stay in this hotel or use goldtrail travel they were so unhelpful.

Worst two weeks of my life. Loved Icmeler though.
Icmeler 10 out of 10.
Grand sarba 0 out of 10.

The food was enjoyable. Plenty of choice.

The rooms were cleaned every day.

The staff were very nice to us and friendly.

The only entertainment whilst we were there was the friendliness of the barstaff but that was enough for us. We had dances with them and they taught us Turkish dancing. We went for a week 2 years ago and enjoyed it so much that we went back 2 weeks later.

We went on a day trip from Marmaris this year to see if the staff were all still there (John Hassan and Murat) Not only were they still there but they remembered us and made us very welcome. We are going there for a week in October of this year and looking forward to it.
