Well what can I say? We arrived at the Marlita in the early hours of Thursday morning after a long flight. We had booked this holiday in September 2007 and specifically requested a 2 bedroom apartment but on arrival we were told that they only had 2 one bedroom apartments. At that time of the morning there was no one to complain to so we had to split up and my husband shared one apartment with our 2 boys and I was in with the 2 girls which was awful being split up. Next morning we complained to the rep at the meeting who knew absolutely nothing about this and told us that there would be no 2 bedroom apartments available for the 2 weeks that we were there. She was very helpful and after contacting her head office it was agreed that we would be moved to the nearby hotel Anastasia and upgraded to half board at no extra cost.

This turned out to be fantastatic, not only were we upgraded but we also were given a suite on the top floor overlooking the sea which was beautiful.

I'm glad we didn't have to stay at the Marlita as it was very run down looking and the rooms left a lot to be desired. The block that we were initially put into was C block which smelled awful - like raw sewage and definitely needed re-decorated. The only good thing was the pool area and beach which was lovely.

We did eat at the poolside and was pleasantly surprised, all staff were extremely helpful especially the poolside waiter! Thanks.

Rooms were a disappointment considering the build up no way 4 star 2 tops!!!

Location was supposed to be beach front and brochure details are elaborate to say the least its a good 30 min either direction on rough terrain path to a decent beach.
staff were!!!!! Fricticious to say the least but individually nice people, end of season and they were clearly ready for home.

Entertainment the best ever, my kids, 10,8,7 and me 30! Loved it all, hols are for the kids. Jellybean, Foldiejodie, Sweetcaroline and many more well done we loved you all.

Would we visit this hotel again, frankly no we wouldn't not even if it were half price, they could do with a complete overhaul and w/c work poolside and in the hotel bar area.

The rooms were drab, dreary, although we had maid service every day for two weeks fresh linen and towels, the cleaning left a lot to be desired, sorry ladies as nice as you were!!! Not up to my standards.

The pool layout and park area for the kids was great mine loved it all.

We stayed at the marlita on a late deal our room was surprisingly spacious for just the two with a big kitchen and seating area and a big bedroom with three double wardrobes and large bathroom with bath and shower.

We tried the restaurant only twice once for b/fast and once for tea the breakfast wasn’t anything to write home about and the tea was okay.

The location was okay and the pool areas were good the beach is small but with all the beds around the pool and grass areas near the beach you will never bee short.

The hotel staff were friendly and the maids were good cleans room and changes towels every day and bedding every other day the entertainment team was fantastic and worked really hard they are there 7 day a week none stop we wondered how they did it the only problem we found was with the location it is situated between Protaras and Pernera and has a beach path between each and great to walk to Protaras takes about 10/15 mins with a great bar/ cafe half way between for those tired legs.

It is not lit and very uneven so walking on a night is near impossible and a taxi is about 4/5 pound one way its about 10 mins to Pernera and a lot easier to walk but at the time we went was quite quiet but there are plenty of bars and restaurants.

We went on a boat trip from the jetty just over the way from the hotel it boast’s views of flamagusta (you will hear about this when you are there) and views of bays around the area. We went on this interested and were very disappointed he went to Famagusta stopped miles away and turned around never said anything wouldn’t go on that again and wouldn’t recommend.

I would recommend the trip to famagusta very interesting.

Booked this holiday as a 4 star, no way this hotel is 4 star, lucky if it makes a 3 star. Poor lighting, Hotel room was not the cleanest, Air conditioning blew cigarette smoke through our unit so we woke every morning, came back every evening, to passive smoking, and if you are a non smoker it really takes your breath. Pool was filthy, you could see a pile of dirt round the edge of the pool, also dirt floating aroung the steps, black rims around the pool bar stools, it was in desperate need of a clean, I think most people that had been in the pool ended up with infections of some kind, Staff members smoked and did not go wash their hands afterwards. Hotel food was ok, good selection on some nights and really bad on other nights, noticed food did start to go down hill towards the end of our holiday. Food buffet style, or order from a very limited menu, burger, omlette or spagetti bolognese.

Just returned from the Marlita beach hotel with my family, it was the best.

The entertainment is fantastic they had entertainment 24/7 they had water olympics, rounder’s, cricket, mini disco, polo and lots more. The entertainers were fab jelly bean, Ben, apple, sweet Caroline and foldie Jodie.

The staff are really kind and the cleaners do a really good job every day change your towels and bed sheets and only takes them up to 10 mins to do your room, but they do a really good job. They also wash up for you it is brill. But there is quite a lot of ants and cockroaches around, also the paint was peeling off the paint was peeling off the walls , and there was bacteria growing on the fridge but the cleaner soon sorted it out , but this did not ruin holiday .

The restaurants around the area were very nice, the food was good and was much food to choose from, the Mexican food was also really nice and there was a McDonalds which is much cheaper than England.

We went to Ayia Napa and we went on a boat trip which was only £1 per person for 1 hour and you can go for a swim in the sea the boat was called the glass bottom boat. We also went to the water park which was fantastic. The rides are the best rides I have ever been on and there is a lot to do the, I think it is definitely worth the money, but the taxi fair is not cheap it’s up to £10 each way.

My stay at the Marlita was fab and I would go there again.

Well what can I say, DO NOT GO HERE. We checked this hotel out before we went and to say it didn't meet expectations would be an understatement. This is apparently a 4 star but would struggle to make a 2. The rooms were dirty, never cleaned properly, mouldy, damp and peeling paint on the walls. The air con didn't work and we were told to stop complaining about it. The playground was a disgrace and nothing for young kids. The kids clubs were boring and had to be paid extra for every other day(£8cp per child). The complex was dirty as was the pool(which was never cleaned during our 2 week stay), so much so the little pool turned cloudy. The beach was also dirty and hard to access with pushchairs. The food was poor and the restaurant was up a flight of stairs so we had to carry the pushchair up every night!
Our son tripped and fell over a raised drain outside reception and no one offered us any sort of first aid for his head injury!! The rep was useless and didn't know what she was doing. The only good part was the entertainers, who were brill and the creche which was fantastic, but sadly not enough to make me go back.

we have just got back from our 2 week holiday at the marlita beach. the hotel was well run and right on the beach.the maids cleaned our room every day and towels. bedding was changed every other day. the best things about the marlita were the entertainment team. they offered entertainment for kids and adults day and night with water olympics, water polo, rounders, minidisco in the pool etc during the day and at night they put on some of the best shows we've seen in a long time.the kids were sad to go home. would go back if the same entertainment team were still there because they realy made a difference to the atmosphere around the resort.

Just got back from Marlita, we travelled as a family with 2 kids 14 and 6. Whilst the teenages relied on meeting others, the kids clubs and entertaines Ben Apple, Foldie Jodie, Janine Jellybean and Sweet Caroline were absolutely fantastic providing entertainment for both kids and the adults, well done guys. The cleaners cleaned the rooms everyday, and towels were changed on a daily basis, bless them they even washed up our pots also. The bars and restaurants in the area and in Protarus were excellent, esp the Mexican ones. Had the choice of sitting around the pool, or grass area or the beach, fantastic. Would definately recommend to others and would definately go again:)

Stayed at Marlita Beach Apartments in June 2008. Horrified at the state of apartment. It smelled of urine, it was dirty, there was mould and damp up the walls,. None of the surfaces were clean, there were cigarette burns in bedding....shall I go on! Arriving at 3 in the morning there wasn't much I could do straight away. First thing next morning I contacted 24Hr hotline and a rep came to meet me at hotel. I was moved to The Anastacia Hotel next door and upgraded to half board.

Everything else about the marlita was great. We had a really good time. The entertainment team were great but not too intrusive. They certainly kept the kids busy, my little boy who is 5 had a ball! Kids club also excellent.

Pool area was really nice. you have the choice of sitting poolside, or further back on the grassed area where it was a little quieter.

I think that I may have been unlucky with my apartment. I had booked a 2 bed apartment but have a feeling that they had overbooked and had to put me in this room because the other 2 bed apartments are lovely and overlook the beach! So if you book a 2 bed make sure you ask for a sea view!

Would definitely recommend, booked this last minute, but would go back. Hotel in great location, staff all very friendly, nothing too much trouble. Although just me and the hubby sneaked away for a week on our own, this is a brilliant place to bring the family, all the children we saw where well entertained all day. We stayed in C block and room was great, free air con, clean towels everyday no probs at all.

Eat breakfast in hotel twice, all you can eat buffet style, well worth the money.

Location of hotel is excellent you can choose to laze by the pool, or just walk over the grass to the beach, which is small cozy, an very empty towards the end of the day!!

Just come back from 2 weeks at the Marlita Beach.

We all had a fantastic time, we couldnt fault the Marlita beach. The maid came every day, we got clean towels every day. We stayed in B block and the rooms were fine.

What made the holiday was the entertainers, Ben, Janine, Jodie and Caroline were fantastic with the kids, the atmosphere was fantastic, the kids were crying saying goodbye as they didnt want to go home...neither did I.

The weather was glorious, we ate out mostly in Protarus which is about a 15 minute walk along the beach as there is more choice of restaurants there.

We are thinking about going back in October this year as we really enjoyed ourselves and would consider ot our best hoilday yet!

My wife and I paid for 4 star accommodation the Marlita is 2 plus to 3 star at most. The bedding was not clean the whole apartment is in need of total refurbishment.

The restaurant, no standard uniform for staff, food selection very poor, breakfast one morning staff sitting around table having breakfast and smoking.

No comfort in bar area, poor selection of drinks, cleanliness of corridors, lifts, poor entrance to hotel, poorly lit walkway into hotel, dangerous pool area, quite good staff need training in service and dress.

Enjoyed our stay here,we were self catering.

Enjoyed the snacks at the poolside very tasty and exellent portions, the staff were exellent espicially the waitresses always on the go and always had a smile.

Went to eat in the hotel one night. The food was average and very small dining hall was ok. There is an excellent restaraunt 100 yards from hotel called Blue Spice which does lobster to pizza at affordable prices and is a very decor place with goods prices.

The location is about 2 kms from Protarus in a taxi which costs £6 or walk it throught the beach which takes 25 mins.

The entertainment is run of the mill stuff better off going into town which is busier and better.

The girls - Airtours entertainers for the kids are rubbish when they went for airport duties for 2 days and the guys took over the hotel was buzzing always on the go and trying to get everyone to join in.

The Marlita is a very nice hotel. Would go back. It would get 5 stars if it was in the centre of town.

Having booked what we believed to be a 4* hotel, were looking forward to our 6th trip to Cyprus, what we got was no more than a 2*, our room in D block was well past its sell by date, there was thick mold all around the bathroom which flooded every time we turned the sink on or took a shower.

There must have been a problem with the sewerage system as there was an awful smell emanating from the toilet, the mold was sorted out by the maintenance person covering it with silicon.

The sofa bed supplied as the 2 single beds was unbelievably uncomfortable, but that didn't really matter as sleep was hard to come by being at the end of the block, we got entertainment from 3 neighbouring hotels, which was really very loud.

We stayed on a half board basis, which was really very good, the evening meals were of a very high standard and not repetitive, would I book again - NO

We stayed at the Marlita Beach. It is the best complex we have been too. We stayed for 11 nights which is enough time to see everything but not long enough for the kids to get bored.

The hotel was spotless. We were warned about ants and cockroaches but we saw very few.

The staff were great and the pools we warm which was great. We would visit again.

The only downside side is there not enough to do for teenagers and the night time entertainment was limited.

The Marlita beach appartments were lovely, clean and welcoming when we arrived - they were cleaned every day apart from sunday - the only problem we had was when my mums towel went missing - one of the maids must have thought it was a hotel towel!!!!

The staff around the pool bar were brilliant - always friendly - I cant remember all their names but karen , tatianna and the young lad (whos birthday it was when we were there) were wonderful - they make amazing cocktails

The reps clubs for children were wonderful - the hotel is really family friendly - there was loads to do for children off all ages from 4 - 16 - all the children just seemed to get on so well together (there were quite a few tears when we left).

The best trip we did when we were there was the 'Overboard' boat trip - we loved it so much my mum booked it again for the second week - while it did cost more than the other boat trips on offer it was worth it - it was one of the highlights of the holiday!

Stayed at the Marlita Beach 2 Jul to 9 Jul 06. Good flight, taxi transfer to resort so within 1 hour of landing we were sipping our first ice cold Keo.

We stayed in a studio which was OK but the first day we were overrun by ants, we solved that problem by keeping all the food including bread in the fridge!

Pool area OK, plenty of sunbeds although people did insist on putting towels on and then not coming to the pool until lunchtime, why do they do this?

Food at the pool bar very nice, lovely bacon and halloumi sandwiches. Would definitely recommend the Fresh House for a meal, we went due to recommendations from this site and we weren't disappointed. We also ate at our old favourite, Bambos (Apomero) which has relocated from Protaras "strip".

Did the coastal walk along to Protaras and stopped off at Zafiros, once for breakfast, very good and once for pancakes. We have been to Cyprus 8 times previously and as we were only there for a week we didn't venture very far.

The aqua aerobics at the pool was a very good work out, not your usual soft stretching it was very energetic. Staff very friendly especially the girl (Irish) at the pool bar. Entertainment staff very friendly and worked hard at getting people involved without being pushy.

The only downside was we were only there for a week and our daughter got her first ever ear infection but that didn't present until we were home thank goodness. Both inbound and outbound flights with British Midland were more or less on time but no entertainment so if you are flying with them from East Mids take your own.

We didn't book the in flight meal but the cabin crew insisted we had one (at no charge) and very tasty it was too.

All in all a fab week and would definitely visit the Marlita Beach again, this was our first visit to pernera and i must say I actually prefer the Pernera area to Protaras as it's quieter but only a stroll to a bit more life.

Just back from another 2 weeks at the Marlita Beach hotel apt in Protaras Cyprus, that was our 6th time staying and it just gets better every time we go back.the food in the hotel is excellent.

Wait till you get there then you can upgrade to half board as it works out much cheaper adults £7 kids £3 for breakfast and evening meal on a buffet style. the hotel is spotless rooms cleaned everyday and fresh towels.

The location is brill if you want to go into Protaras town center you can walk along the beach path its a bit stony and sandy in places but it only takes 10 mins max and on your way back you can take the road the kids and I do it in about 20 mins.

The staff will bend over backwards for you especially gabby the restaurant manageress and Karen who works in the pool bar entertainment is 10/10 you don't have to leave the complex it starts at 8pm with the kids disco then bingo quiz,s karaoke and entertainment from reps magic man singers hypnotists.

A goods nights crack.

We visited Protaras after being recommended by a friend. I gate crashed my sister's holiday as I was a newly single mum of two and did not want to be alone. But this would not have mattered.

As said by others flight was very cramped and did not have blankets for my children who were cold in the night flight.

When we arrived at the hotel we were nothing but impressed. Staff were lovely especially Carol who was at the pool bar. She was very very friendly and happy all the time, made our holiday, the kids loved her as did the adults especially at happy hour. ha ha.

Food was nice however I did get sick of fried breakfast and took to buying my own after day four.

Pool was great and the view was just spectacular as I had a beautiful room with a sea view.

One negative thing however is the entertainment not much happening for the older child but found karaoke within short distance. Oh and MSN.

All in all fantastic holiday looking for another holiday right at this moment but nothing compares.

We arrived back yeserday ( 15th june ).

The hotel is very nice and in a good location although I would only give it a 3***plus.

The food was excellent and always plenty of choice but the good thing for the kids was that if they didn't like yhe food on offer then they could choose off the kids menu at no extra cost, plus if they couldn't eat it all they would put it in a takeaway box.

The pools were excellent and the kids really enjoyed playing in them.

Having read the reviews for the Marlita Apartments, this was where I wanted to book for a first time visit to Cyprus but as a single mum wanted to make sure there would be activities for my 5 year old and having other kids around. We also wanted a 10 or 11 day holiday and this was an option, so we booked the Marlita and headed off. It is an Airtours property and cannot be booked direct, because of this, it does limit booking etc, but we booked through Going places who gave us a one bedroomed apartment for a lot less than Airtours were going to charge for a studio. It is listed as a 4 star, but would say it is more of a 3plus.

The flight times were not the best, flying out with My Travel, the flight was uncomfortable and cramped, although the staff were friendly and the flight was on time. Arrival at the airport was ok, however we had to wait nearly 1 ½ hours for our bags to come through, flights came in after ours and people cleared arrivals before we did, it was eventually nearly 2am when we arrived. Because we were 11 nights, we flew home with excel, it was an early hours of the morning flight home, but check in was VERY easy, quick and well organised. There weren’t many places to sit, the airports main days, Wednesday and Sunday can be chaotic even late into the night, but there is an excellent duty free shop, but prices for drinks etc are quite high, and there were people always walking around cleaning. It wasn’t as bad as reports I’d read, and certainly no worse than any of the airports we have encountered on the Greek Islands. We did have a delay with our plane due to someone leaving a bag on the plane inbound with an alarm clock in But this was soon resolved and we boarded a brand new plane with excel. (it was its second flight) it was spacious, comforable and the staff who were obviously tired were friendly. We had breakfast about 4am, it was hot and quite good.

Our holiday began, we made other drops some of the apartments surroundings were not particularly inviting, but this wasn’t the case when arriving at the Marlita, although classed as Protaras it is actually out in Pernera which is about a good 20 min walk (possibly more with kids) away to get to the top of the main strip, so we were thankful to have a hire car at our disposal, although a taxi into the strip (all local journeys) was only CYP£4 each way. (was £8-10 to Ayia Napa)

The coach pulled up right outside and we headed into reception to pick up our keys, I have to be honest and say the welcome wasn’t particularly friendly, regardless of what time in the morning it was, the man who checked us in was rather abrupt and not overly friendly. You are required to leave at least one passport at check in, although we weren’t required to fill out a registration form. (They left these in the room to be filled out, but didn’t request them at any time) We were given a “card” which unlocks the door, but which also powers the lights, electricity and air con. Which does go off again when you take the card out with you. My one tip to you would be to go to reception and say that you have left the card inside and get a spare one, that way you can leave one in to keep the air con on, so that when you return to the room its nice and cold and also the drinks in the fridge are too! Or a ripped up piece of cardboard also does the same thing.

We were in D block; this block is furthest away from the main reception/bar area but overlooks the grassed area. But the walkway is flat with ramps where needed and it’s well lit too. There is a lane which runs between these blocks and the grassed area, and although most of the time it is quiet, do be careful and make kids always check where they are going, staff arriving at the Marlita come down this track and tend to drive VERY fast. But this was also a great place to leave the hire car as it literally sits outside the blocks. To the front of the grassed area is block S, and the sea, so most of the apartments in this block have a sea view. Although to the outside of the Marlita’s area, they are pretty close to the nearby apartments of Plato Mare and also the Papantonia behind. Arriving at gone 2am, it was quiet, but later in the holiday you had to deal with the noise from the entertainment from all angles, and although this didn’t overly bother me, I know that some people found it quite disturbing. One bonus though is that it did tend to finish fairly early, with the latest being about 1am and with the windows closed and the air con on, it did tend to drown out the noise.

The apartment, which was a one bedroom apartment was spacious, a living/sleeping area with dining table and chairs and also a kitchen area. The kitchen was fairly well stocked, but not to use it overly to prepare food. We used the kettle twice and that was it. Did have to go and buy decent bottle openers tho! Leading on from the kitchen was a small hallway area leading to the spacious bathroom with shower over. There was never a problem for hot water, there was always plenty and the pressure was always good too, we did find that if we ran a bath, the water would run brown, so filled the bath with the shower (but this was just as quick!) There was a double bedroom with large double (although brochure had stated twin beds) this meant I had to share a bed with my little one, or sleep out on the sofa bed, which was not at all comfortable. There was plenty of storage space wardrobe (usual coat hanger shortage) there were 2 bedside tables with small drawers in, however these were the only drawers, so drawer space is quite limited, it was ok for the 2 of us, but would be pretty tight for a family of 4 which this apartment is meant for. I’m glad that we upgraded at the time of booking to the apartment rather than a studio room. The apartments have a balcony area which have plastic table and chairs, some of the larger apartments in blocks A and B have very spacious balcony areas, great to let small kids run around as they were enclosed, and I believe these are the apartments which have 2 bedrooms and sleep up to 6 people.

The settee/bed in the living room was a bit dangerous and not the most comfortable, and although it advises that the 1 bedroom apartment sleeps 4 adults in single beds, the main room did have a double bed, but it was comfortable, with lots of spare pillows and blankets if you needed them. There was however no sheets left for the bed settee and I ended up sharing the double bed with my 5 year old! The sheets however were lovely and clean, as were the towels that were changed 6 days out of 7 (not on a Sunday). Cleaning however is not the best, although on first appearances the apartment was clean, the cupboards and wardrobes were extremely dusty and the floor out by the walls were quite dirty, where the mop is just flicked around, but we know that this is quite often the standard of cleaning. Unfortunately the one thing that did let our apartment down was the kitchen area, the cupboards were mouldy and damp and the smell was AWFUL! So much so, that I took out the glasses/crockery we would use and ended up leaving them out on the side so as not to open the cupboards. However, we did not use the cooking facilities at all, there is a microwave, toaster and kettle and a 2 ring stove (no grill or oven) but there are so many places to eat and cheaply that its not worth it and after all, we are on holiday!

The apartment did have some great positives ~ the air con was very effective and although could be noisy, it kept the rooms cool and cooled the room quickly, the shower and water pressure was excellent, there was always plenty of hot water. Although when we used the bathroom taps the water ran yellow and rusty so simply filled the bath using the shower.

There are some great positives about the Marlita, most noticeably has to be the pool area, compared to some of the pool areas at some of the places, it has a large pool which was never overcrowded and there is a small children’s pool too. The pool area was kept extremely clean and tidy, and there was the main bar and also a pool/snack bar. Unfortunately, there was a difficulty in being able to get a sunbed unless you followed what everyone else seemed to do and venture off to the pool with their towels at the crack of dawn! While waiting to go on a trip one morning at 7am, there was a steady stream of people who reserved sunbeds with towels, and the ones by the pool quickly went. This of course meant that getting near the pool was difficult if you ventured down after about 930am, although sun beds over on the grassed area were available, they are sloping away from the pools. It is quite sad that people save the sunbeds but don’t actually reach them til lunchtime! And as non residents also come in and use the facilities and a fair number of locals at the weekend, the “battle” for a sunbed could be quite difficult, which I imagine would become more of a problem in the busier or high seasons. I have never on any holiday before, done a “towel run” but it was a case if you want a sunbed and to be near the pool area that you had to do so. There was certainly no policies in place to stop you from doing so, and with non-residents and locals arriving, why should you miss out on what you are paying for!

We didn’t eat at the main restaurant at all, having chosen to go self catering we were pleased that we had, far too many excellent places to eat to be confined to the hotel, however you could upgrade to half board upon arrival and there was a special offer. In the room it said you could have breakfast for £3.50 adult and £2.00 child (buffet eat as much as you want) but this was on offer at £3.00 and £2.00. If you wanted to upgrade to the Half board you could pay £8.00 per adult and £4.00 per child for a minimum of 3 days, however this didn’t have to be consecutive days and you could take it as and when. Breakfast was served until 10am, so we didn’t make it to try. However we did eat at the main bar and also the pool bar. Food was excellent, hot, great portions and god value for money. Pizza wasn’t the best, but the food was good. Drinks average price (walk up to the Ausonia supermarket for better prices!) or even better, head off to Orphanides supermarket in Paralimni for a main shop for your drinks and essentials!

There is a kids club, one for teenagers wasn’t available because it was too early in the season, but the children went upstairs into a room above the bar, it seemed that they didn’t do a lot apart from be up there, they certainly didn’t venture out. A lot of the sessions you had to pay for, although they do a pyjama party for about 4 hours which was CYP£10 which also allowed adults to go offsite to eat a quiet dinner. My son wasn’t impressed with the kids club at all, they didn’t seem to do that much, a lot of sitting around and very little else, he was very bored, but then he preferred to be out and active with the older children. The club would be ok I think for the younger members/creche age. But when you pay extra for a place which has kids club facilities having to pay extra for cocktail making sessions, the party’s etc would soon add up especially if you had more than one child, so do go prepared and budget some extra. We do not often use kids clubs anyway, a holiday is for spending time together and we certainly were able to do that. The pool at the marlita has to be one of the biggest positives, its large, roomy and very clean, a small separate childrens pool also.

The entertainment was very mixed, they tried hard, but the daytime activities were much better than the attempts at the evening entertainment. Most nights we ventured off out and into Protaras/Ayia Napa as we had the car, but the “visiting” entertainment were ok, the entertainments staff, were mediocre. We do know it was the beginning part of the season, but even then, it was not worth hanging around for. However, during the day, James was excellent amusing the older kids and the adults, he was friendly and good fun, and was by far the best of the entertainment staff there. Of the hotel staff, the chambermaids were lovely, always said hello, and the staff at the pool bar were too. Bar staff weren’t the friendliest to be honest, and you would rarely get even a hello!

There are some excellent places to eat nearby, Blue Spice was wonderful, and Only Fools and Horses Pub in Pernera did a good breakfast for CYP£2. Most of our meals were eaten at the Anatolia restaurant, wonderful food, wonderful friendly staff, and a great atmosphere. It was always busy and a lot of locals ate there too which we always took as a good sign. We did not have one bad meal here, the stifado and the tavas were beautiful, and the portions were excellent. I cannot recommend this place enough. We also ate at Nicholas Tavern, we did enjoy it here, but it didn’t compare to the Anatolia. We also tried the chinese on the main strip near to Macdonalds and the food was ok, little dry and a little cold, but still tasty and edible. Having a 5 year old who is fussy, there was no problem being able to eat in Cyprus. We only in our 11 days, only ventured near Macdonalds once and that was after we came out from the Magic Fountain show. But lots of places to choose from. We ate breakfast several times at I think it was Friends in Protaras, the food was excellent, the orange juice beautiful! All in all, we didn’t have a bad meal in Protaras, one mixed in Ayia Napa, but there was always lots to choose from, and excellent value too.

Would we stay at the Marlita again? Probably not, but then we do like to travel to different places with so many places left to visit. We did enjoy our stay at the Marlita, but for the price we paid, I wouldn’t rush to go back there. Would I return to Cyprus? Maybe, it is a lovely place and we did enjoy our holiday, but it was nothing spectacular. Being in Protaras/Pernera was a bit like “brits abroad” and walking down the main strip area, you could be anywhere with good weather. On saying that, we hired a car (petsas.com EXCELLENT!) and when we got out and ventured around the island, visiting and seeing the real Cyprus was wonderful. There were a lot of people who we spoke to who were first time people to Protaras, and there were a fair few who were disappointed at how British based it is, if you are looking for traditional, protaras isn’t that, but there is a lot to do and its an excellent base

We booked our trips through Tsilivi (or something) travel, they have a branch just up from the Blue Spice in Pernera and also several down the main strip, friendly, well organised and good value. Far better than booking through the reps, their car hire and the trips were very over priced, highly recommend not booking through the reps and booking elsewhere. We had a fab off road jeep safari up the Troodos mountains, (not for the faint hearted tho) Also highly recommend Waterworld, a great day out for everyone, its not even worth visiting the small protaras water park which is very poor in comparison

We stayed SC in a 2 bedroom apartment as there was 6 of us. myself and my partner two sixteen year olds and two children aged 3 and 6. The rooms were fine very clean and spacious. They were cleaned every day and the towels were changed daily.

There are bars and restaurants in walking distance although the main nightlife is a fifteen min walk or 5min taxi ride into protaras centre which caters for everybody including children.

The staff at the Marlita are fantastic, reception staff, bar staff, cleaners and holiday reps were great and couldn't do enough for you. Great entertainment for children and it also has a play area and arcade to keep children entertained.

I would definitely visit the Marlita again.

As a family of 2 adults and 2 children aged 9 and 11, we had the most fantastic time, just away from the hustle and bustle of the main resort of Protarus (about a five minute walk away)but near a strip of friendly shops and restaurants.

The hotel was very clean, the apartment was large for a family of 4. The staff were very friendly, whilst it was self catering, we took a meal deal out in the hotel on arrival for 3 breakfasts and 3 main meals, again great value for the odd night we decided not to venture out.

The pools were excellent and kept very clean. The sea was literally a stones throw away, very clean and fantastic fish whilst snorkling just a few feet from the gently sloping sandy bottom.

The entertainment was first class although a bit tongue in cheek and definately more for the family audience rather than adults. There was bingo every night but not for long and again a laugh was had by all.

All in all we would definately re-visit the same hotel again. Car hire through the hotel rep was a little dear compared to what you could get locally, however you did get a new car and I guess peace of mind.

Troodos mountains are a must as is a visit to the Capital Nicosia, here you can get all your bargains, as it is cheaper than the resort.

First experience of Cyprus and one that we will remember for a long time. Great location right on the beach, so take your pick from a dip in the pool or the crystal clear waters of this end of the Med

Hotel is excellent, so is the food and so are the staff, nothing is too much trouble, but then that is the same wherever you go. These people know how to make you feel welcome, and look like they mean it !

Special thank you to restuarant manager Markos, 'the east end Cypriot' who is a dead ringer for a young Alf Garnett and even supports West Ham. Made my lads day by finding him a birthday cake from one of his local contacts. Cheers Mate

Hotel entertainment team were brilliant, Chris, Gemma, Collette, et al always had something on the go if you wanted to be involved, and had everyone in stitches from kids to adults. The quizzes, the Bingo and the club dance take on a different meaning when you are in 30+ degreee heat, and have a glass of KEO in your hand !. Would definately come back.

Having chosen Half board, we would offer one suggestion to anyone considering going out there. There are so many great places to eat at reasonable prices, consider self catering and experience the different bars and restuarants that are on your door step.

PS dont miss the Fools and Horses bar opposite Georges, or the Barley Mow where the landlord cum DJ fancies himself as a quiz master. Gives a cocktail away if you get the right answer, must be costing him loads !!.

The accomadation and complex is excellant. Pool areas, snack bar and facillities all within close proximinity and were superb.

The hotel staff were plentyfull and efficient. We stayed in a large airy clean self catering accomadation on the ground floor with a large patio area accessable from the bedroom and living rooms.

A TV was present but never used as there is more than enough to occupy a four year old and two adults all day and night.

The food available from the main restaurant and snack bars was excellent value for money and very good quality. A Main meal shared between two adults for a light lunch costs around £4 CYP.

The pool areas were excellent for keeping an eye on my four year old if left alone along with the childrens play areas. The location is just outside of the main area of Protarus about 10 mins along the coast path (whilst still light) and about 15 - 20 mins along the main roads (after dark).

The beach is litterally a stones through away from the pool areas, allthough we found no need to leave the pool areas for the beach as everything that you would want is there.

There are numerous bars and restaurants within an short stroll or the Taxi into Protarus was approx £4 CYP. The entertainment was great and the children can be entertained and cared for if you wanted all day long, there is even a crech and baby sitting service available.

We would certainly visit this complex again.

Stayed at Marlita beach, on half board basis.

Arrived in the evening and the restaurant was where we headed 1st. Throughout the weeks holiday, the meals were first class, variety for all tastes, inc vegetarians.

The cleaners did a great job of keeping all areas clean. The hotel is on the beach! Plenty of sun loungers, everything within easy reach, bar, toilets, etc.
The staff would help when ever they were asked. I even asked the barman to mix me a cocktail that wasnt on the list, no problem!

We have no children & wanted a relaxing time,we didnt always get this due to the entertainment team. There were too many of them & they had a megaphone which they did not need. This was the only downside, but we would go again, with earplugs!

We have just arrived back from the Marlita Beach apartments.

My wife and I traveled on our own and had a hire car for the duration of our stay of 7 nights.

We were self catering and ate out most of the time, but had the occasional snack from the poolside snackbar where we found the service and food from Samantha and the gang to be excellent. I cannot praise highly enough the way the staff worked to keep the apartments and the surrounding areas in tip top condition.

The hotel is located at the end of a cul de sac by a small sandy cove. This is an ideal location for families with young children as there is no traffic to worry aboout.

Watersports are available jet skis etc on the beach. There are supermarkets, bars, restaurants, all nearby. It is a short walk 5 mins into the resort of Pernera, with more bars etc etc. You can walk to the main beach in Protaras along the rocky path by the sea shore about a 15 min walk this is not advised after dark so a short bus or taxi ride will get you there.

We found all the hotel staff very friendly and hardworking.
The hotel has a large swimming poll and smaller one for the little ones. The larger pool has easy access with steps one end and a small slope the other. There are plenty of sunbeds around the pool and on the surrounding grassy areas.

The airtours reps do a really good job of entertaining the kids although a bit repetative. There was limited adult entertainment and the indoor bar area where the large screen TV was had no aircon.

We had a great holiday the Marlita covered all our needs, it was kept spotlessly clean.

We hired a car to travel around Cyprus which we did but the times spent at the hotel were just as pleasurable.

Our second visit to the Marlita, this hotel is superb for people with young children. There is always plenty to do with the entertainment aimed at youngsters (this might be a problem for adult only parties).
The kids club offers a welcome respite for parents and gives the kids something to look foward to away from the swimming. The sandy play area also offers an alternative, but be aware it can be a sun trap in the middle of the day. The beach is a little small but the sea is inviting to all ages (as someone said earlier wearing flip flops makes paddling more comfortable), and is always calm and quite shallow for a good distance.
Although we go self catering (like trying different resteraunts at night) the buffet breakfast,CYP3.50 for adults and free for younger children, is excellent value.
The complex is very clean indeed and the maid service is regular and thorough.
The one draw back for people with teenage children is that the hotel is a good way from the main area of Protaras and they may find themselves a little limited, but for families with children 12 and undwer this place is PERFECT.

It was our first visit to Cyprus and what a nice place to stay in the Marlita beach aparthotel. The rooms were very clean and were cleaned regular by friendly locals who were very polite and helpful in every way.

The bar staff were very friendly and helpful, joined in with the fun and games, helped in every way they could. The only downfall we had was the facilities for self catering. We had 2 hot plates a microwave and a toaster which to me isn’t satisfactory when catering for 4 children and 2 children.

I know you go on holiday to go out every night but it would have been nice to just come back and cook something and chill.

On our first ever visit to Cyprus we could not have asked for anything better. The Marlita Beach Hotels were absolutely fantastic for families with young children especially. The Hotel itself was very very clean, with very regular room cleaning etc. There was air conditioning, which was a saviour especially when having a small child. The staff at the complex were extremely friendly and helpful. We didn't eat much at the hotel as we were self catering but what we did have during the time we were there was absolutely great, could not have asked for better service. The pool area was always clean and spotless, there are no lifeguards there at the present time, which does makes things more of a worry at times, although is not a major problem. There is a lovely children's play area, which includes slides and climbing bars which is on a sanded section and plenty of entertainment which goes on throughout the day and the evening, which even got myself and my husband joining in at times.

The sunbeds go from the complex right to the sea front edge which is nice. However the beach at this section is what can be described as a small cove like section with pebbly sand. If you prefer bathing at the beach, would have to really take a walk (which we did) or a taxi/bus to the main town of Protaras which has a glorious beach.

I would definitely visit Cyprus again, and would most certainly book up to stay at the Marlita Beach Hotel again and have even recommended it to other friends and family. 10/10

We had stayed in Pernera before (but not at the Marlitta) & pretty much knew what to expect from the area.

Our "s" block apartment had a great view of the med & was very clean & roomy.

The staff were superb & the entertainers were first class extremely funny & great with the kids. Dan, Phil & Julie.. I couldn't do their job if i was paid 10K a week, but they do it superbly..

The bar wasn't overpriced & the food was of a good standard..

We ate out a lot, but in Pernera there are so many good places to eat & drink, which is why we were self catering..

Sam at the pool side bar was a real good laugh.

All in all we had a truley wonderful time & I must say the Marlitta Beach has to be the first hotel I have stayed in where I would happily go back..

I stayed at the Marlita In August 2004 for a family holiday. We found the resort a very clean spacious area! The staff were all so pleasent and always wore a smile. The pool is very clean and spacious, there is no life guard around the pool but on the beach speaking of which the beach is a small sandy beach with a few stones- advisable to wear flip flops as the sand gets extreemly hot! Now entertainment where can I begin, absoulutely fantastic! Suitable for all ages. The airtours reps entertain the children extreemly well with mini discos every night and it is guarenteed you adults will join in by the end of the night- it is hard to resist the temptation! If you ask me the reps deserve a pay rise because when you see how much they put in compared to other hotels they thouroughly deserve it! Overall a 10/10 holiday hope to be returning next summer! cya soon

The hotel itself was lovely. It is right on the beach but you can lie on the sunloungers at the side of the beach in the apartment complex for free. The airtours staff were great with kids and there was lots organised.

There were all adults in our party however and the hotel was a bit of a walk to nice restaurants. The Marlita beach was a bit stoney and during the weekend a lot of locals were fishing at the edge of the water making swimming quite hazardous. The lifeguard also spent more time in the bar than on watch!

I cannot praise it enough it is very clean, bedding and towels are changed daily, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the first time we stayed there we were on the top floor with a 2 year old who kept throwing things over the balcony.
I asked at reception could we be moved to a lower floor, we were moved the next day.

The snack bar food is excellent, the games area is excellent and there is a large field where you can go and have a game of football, there is also a also an area on the field where you can go and get a massage.

The beach is on your doorstep with all watersports, but if you want to go to the famous Fig Tree Bay Beach it is only a 15 minute walk, this place has everything you need with plenty bars and restaraunts on your doorstep as well as a small waterpark at the top of the street which never gets too busy, can't wait to go again.

My husband and I and our two children Luke and Ryan thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Marlita. Our apartment was cleaned almost every day, the food by the pool was great. It was great being by the beach but also having a fantastic swimming pool for the kids. The kids club was great as the kids really enjoyed going. The entertainment was fantastic, Dan, Kim, Julie and newboy Phil were great and kept my kids entertained day and night they need medals. I will definitely be going back next year, if you are thinking about going to a fun, family holiday then this is the place to go.
