Paid four thousand for this and would rather have gone to skeggy.

If you have already booked try to make the best if you are yet to book.......

Staff were not interested in the slightest, a bottle of water is 5 quid !!!!!!!!!

They kept running out of booze, we knew we were in trouble when they greet you by telling you what is not included.....to be fair I wouldn't go to Jamaica ever again.

I have been to the caribbean many times before and I am used to the laid back attitude but this is the very worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

The hotel needs a major revamp with bits of ceiling falling off all over the place. The rooms are clean but very 80's looking and are in desperate need of updating.

For the first week I had cables dangling in front of my balcony while ganga smoking workmen repaired the balconies in our row.

The food was fine nothing special always something for you to eat even with fussy children, however actually getting served is a different matter.

You could stand and wait to be seated and be blatantly ignored while the staff stand out of the way having a chat to each other, at first you let it go but when it continues to keep happening it ruins your holiday.

I personally dont go on holiday to complain for 2 weeks. The location of the hotel is great as it only takes 15 minutes from the airport - which takes about 2 hours to get out of as you have to queue for immigration in a airport with no air conditioning and only 2 fans in the whole room, and as for the baggage handlers they don't give a damn and I lost count of the bags that were ripped open or damaged in some way.

The hotel staff were the most rude, ignorant people i have ever met and I can honestly say they ruined my holiday.

The entertainment was quite pants as well. The band weren't bad and 1 night they had some outside entertainers in that were good but apart from that the hermit crab racing really wasn't my thing.

There are alot of americans at this hotel and 90% are just as rude and ignorant as the staff - if you were not phsically sitting on your sun bed they would throw your things on the ground and set themselves up, I lost count of the times I was in the pool and had to confront people moving my things to suit themselves.

Don't bother going to the luminous lagoon it is a total waste of money and really not that great, your herded onto a tiny boat made to feel guilty so you tip more and get bitten loads.

Wyndham pulled out of this hotel a few weeks before we got there by which we were told in a letter and you can understand why when you see the hotel, personally I wouldn't put my name to it either.

I really wouldn't recommend anyone going to this hotel just dont do it go somewhere nice instead......please.

What a mixed bag!!!
I stayed in this hotel from 22/5/06 to 5/6/06 as part of a group of 16 people attending a friends wedding.
I'll start by saying I had a fantastic time and would re-visit.
In the interest of helping those who are planning to go there in the future I will be honest and give as much detail as possible listing the good and bad points so you can make an informed choice.

The food - I have to start with the two a la carte restaurants, the Luna De Marr and Three Palms, both of which we visited twice (as a group and also as a couple) on each occasion the service and food was second to none.
In the buffet restaurant which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, there is an good choice of food, all prepared well. The evening menu's runs on a one week rota so you will expect to find the same dishes on the same day if you are there for more than a week but this is not a problem.
Breakfast offers a wide variety (don't expect fresh fruit, tinned only), the omelette station is excellent offering a wide variety of fillings, the bacon was not for me (streaky and crispy) but each to their own!!
There is the Beach Grill open around lunch where you can get jerk chicken, burgers, fries, nuggets etc etc all very nice. I don't personally try the food from near the water park but I heard it was similar to the beach grill.
For an additional charge (about $35 incl tax) you can attend the lobster fest served by the beach which is also very enjoyable.

The Water Park - excellent for entertaining children and adults alike. The long waterslide is fun and there are three shorter slides to have a go on. The highlight is definately the lazy river....lie back and let the current take you round and round.

Hotel - I was initially given a room with a view of little more than the reception roof but a quick trip to reception saw me immediately moved to another room with fantastic sea and pool views. The rooms are comfortable, have towels replaced and are cleaned daily as you would expect. The TV has plenty of channels including sport and movies which is useful if you have a few days of poor weather as we did. The room floors are tiled but the corridors are carpeted which after some recent flooding has left the lower floor smelling damp and musty. Speaking of funny smells, there is the distinct smell of the 'herb' synonymous with Jamaica lingering in some of the corridors. The shops in the hotel are overpriced...a cigar costing $25 there was less than $10 outside the resort.

Staff - I met some of the friendliest people ever at this resort, particularly in the Luna De Marr and Three Palms. Unfortunately I also met some very rude and ignorant people there too. Unless you have a tip for them, the bar staff will serve you when they feel like it, often ignoring you in favour of the person who has just arrived at the bar with a few $'s in hand. I tip generously once I have received good service, I don't pay for it in advance, unfortunately the majority of bar staff never got to know this. Reception operates on Jamaican time which is a little slower than I would have liked but having them sort out my initial room gripe so well, I looked upon them favourably.

Entertainment - Through the day I saw plently listed on boards but all I actually saw going on was morning aerobics and water volleyball. The band who are on most evenings are very talented but the entertainment finishes quite early around 10pm. After this there is only the bar where you have to make your own entertainment (open till midnight) or the Cricket Club disco open till 2am with music and pool tables. Sunday night is the beach party with live entertainment and a craft market temporarily set up where you can have fun bartering. Little is done in the way on entertainment if, as we were, rained in for a few days.

Out and about - I would recommend a trip to Dunn's River Falls, take money for tips and barter hard in the markets you can get some great deals. Also, on Wednesday you get a round of golf on Cinnamon Hills for $65+club hire (about half normal price), which is a great experience.

Weddings - Catered for and organised well although the extra's such as flowers are over priced. You may have seen pictures wedding at the ruins on the golf course, again this will be extra, I believe about $2000, yes thats three zero's....

I could probably say much more but I hope this gives you a good idea about the pro's and con's of this resort. If you go, have a great time.

All inclusive....why? the food seemed ok to begin with but after two weeks we as a group were disappointed with the repetition.....where was the fresh fruit at breakfast?
We didn't expect tinned....why no fresh fish? I would have thought it readly available it was dried to a crisp!!

Also don't go for tea after 9pm they sereve til 10pm but stop topping the food up at 9pm so you are left with pickings.

The rooms were spotless and maid service excellent, shame the maids didn't work in the bars and restaurants because the staff in these departments were rude and ignorant unless giving tips they migh't have bothered going to work everything was too much trouble for them and their attitude ruined my holiday.

Take warm clothes for the java it's freezing...shame the best food was served in there.

Entertainment for kids none existant, my teenagers were bored stupid, daytime entertainment juvenile.

My best days in Jamaica were when were were out of this hole, excursions to Negril Dolphins and the Dunns fantastic, take plenty of tip money though.......sorry but in total 14 people in our party all disappointed with the above. How can this many people be wrong.

We are a well travelled gorup of people and have better comparisons. Sorry hotel reviews are for the truth. My Jamaica was ruined by this hotel and their lack of customer care!! Because they didn't.

HONEYMOON

I'm not going to write a story, I looked the length of some of the other review and thought WOW I'll be here all night, so I'll stick to the basic facts!!

When we booked in we were given a "complimentary upgrade to a superior suite" On the third day, whilst chatting over the balcony, it became apparent, that the room was infact a basic one!! I would rather the hotel had simply said, "i'm sorry we have no rooms available to upgrade you" rather than to feed us this blatant lie!

A bottle of cheap champagne and a bowl of fuit, would have been a welcome gesture, we were on our honeymoon afterall and were promised a little extra attention, no such luck.

They were however quick to deal with the cockroach and at that point left a bottle as a sweetener.

We took our 9 yr old daughter with us. The disco closed to children at 10pm, you were then left with nothing but a small terrace bar, no music, no entertainment and the only way to get served in less than 20 mins was to tip!! The best option was simply to go the bed. Which you may think a good deal on our honeymoon, though a 9 yr old in tow kinda spoilt the mood.

In its favour the water slide and lazy river were glorious.

No ice creams for kids, no chips (on eve buffet) spinach curry served for breakfast???

The last 8 out of the 14 days it rained CONSTANTLY, the entertainment staff did nothing to relieve this boredom.

On the whole a very very disappointing honeymoon!!!

We went to this hotel as a party of 10 to celebrate what we hoped would be our wedding and holiday of a lifetime -we were not dissapointed.

The hotel ground and inside are immaculate.

Food is good, probably in line with other all inclusives we have been to.
Getting drinks was very slow unless you tipped reasonably, then you got better attention from the bar staff.

The staff overall were fabulous always got a smile and tiime for a chat especially Dwainton who I think was particually taken to my daughter and her friend.

Entertainment was quite good with singers being very good.
We had a dream wedding there and I must compliment the wedding co- ordinator for making things run smoothly.

Eating at the speciality resteraunts was very good especially the three palms were the service was second to none.

The water park is fantastic and good fun for both adults and children, especially the lazy river.

All inclusive was really good as there was a different theme night for food. Good selection and more than enough places to choose from to eat in.

The hotel was spotless and there was always a maid or a cleaner around what ever time of the day it was.

The location of the hotel is set to one side of Montego Bay luckily away from the airport. The hotel is set within its own grounds so no tourist ever wonders outside the hotel and plus there isn’t anything to see unless you pay for a taxi 10 mins down the road.

The entertainment had to be the worst thing about this hotel. It started at a time when you had dinner and finished by 10pm at the latest which means you missed it by time you had eaten. After that there is no one for kids after that because the other bars are adults only.

If I was to visit this hotel again I probably would go as a couple and not as a family as it’s to relaxed and not varied enough in the evenings.

Despite a nightmare journey home with First Choice airlines, going out was fine and the extra money for the upgarde well worth it a smaller plabne home resulted in the in coming flight having to re fuel in Canada and hence being delayed. No upgrade available on the way home 13 hrs with your bad knees jammed into the seat in front is no joke I was in agony by the time I made Manchester.

Stayed for 2 weeks 5th April - 19th April
It was a wonderful place to stay found it difficult to find fault despite the 4 days of non stop rain in the second week.

Joined Wyndham by request before we went, got the quick check in promised and a sea view room that was great even found that 1 of the TV channels was fox soccer channel that showed live premiership games and the late sky sports news at 6pm Jamaica time so could keep up with the footie scores and see the goals.

Wyndham by request gave us a late check out 2pm instead of 11am the drinks and snacks promised on arrival by wyndham by request never arrived but as they say in those parts "no problem"

No problem was often said by the super staff who really did try to make your stay the best it could be.

I am a fussy eater with an aversion to spicey food, but the buffet style in the terrace let you try litte bits of the many choices on offer. Strangely after giving some of the spicy foods a try I oddly found them to my likeing.

As one who normally wont eat rice I found rice and peas one of my favourites.

Breakfast gave a vast array of choices and the ommelette station was brill as an Englishman did not know you could have eggs so many ways.

The 2 restaraunts you have to pre book were really top knotch the Luna Marr staff made our silver wedding one to really remember the Three Palms was wonderful.

The pool and beach areas were well laid out with many empty sunbeds at all times of the day although some people raced for their spot every day! why?? One good touch around the beach and pool was the iced water and lemonade barrels placed around the site save on having to take bottled water down with you. The tap water was no problem and tasted better than in the UK.

I am missing floating round the lazy river (one of the best parts of the stay ) already.

A truly memorable stay get out and about the island if you can it is not only the hotel staff who make your stay great but all the people of the wonderful Island of Jamaica.

Booked with Virgin travelling with Air Jamaica, the worst airline I have ever experienced. 22 hours delay, tatty plane, drop-down tv screens 10 rows away which you couldn't see due to lighting and people walking about, unfriendly cabin crew, poor meals.

Hotel was great, food good and if you didn't like what was on offer at the buffet you could always go to the java cafe or book one of the two fantastic a la carte restaurants (three palms is excellent).

Water park was good and kept all the kids away from the smaller pools, which were nearly always adults only, this was where the swim up bar was located! Look out for gregory.

Entertainment overlapped with evening meals and could have been timed otherwise. Disco is nothing more that an 18-20's kindergarten.

Rooms are well appointed and joining wyndham by request you get a free upgrade and late checkout if available. West wing rooms 200 - 207, 300 - 307 and so on upto 700 - 707 are best with fantastic sea views, we also received a visit from the maid twice per day (morning and evening).

Flight back, more delays and poor service from air jamaica.

In short, would definately stay in this hotel again but not fly with air jamaica.

We travelled with our granddaughter as my brother in law was marrying here.

The Water Park was great for kids and adults and I also enjoyed a few walks over the golf course in early evening.

The Entertainment could definitely be improved, even our granddaughter was prepared to give it a miss.

The buffet was not too bad but the best food was definitely at the cafe (good kids menu) and the palms overlooking the golf course.

The place was clean and the air conditioning easily adjusted to a more comfortable (warmer) temperature.

The staff were great and really helpful, both organizing the wedding and even down to finding my granddaughter some sticky tape and paper when the hotel shops didn't have any!

Wyndham Roase Hall Resort & Country CLub Montego Bay Jamaica.

We had two weeks at this resort and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The water park is fantastic and kept our two little girls aged 5 & 7 thoroughly entertained.

After a 10 hour flight with Air Jamaica (would not use this airline again - this was also the view of many guests we spoke to) the hotel was only about 20 minutes from the airport. We joined the Wyndham by request programme at Wyndham.com free to join - they tailor you room to your specifications ie type of pillows you prefer, your choice of snacks and drinks in your room on arrival - room upgrade, extended check out free of charge (lots of guests were charged USD 100 for an extra few hours - separate check-in on arrival at the hotel - all of which we did get - including an ocean view 2 bedroom suite (and it was the October 1/2 term so hotel was almost full)!

We had many telephone message left for us asking if everything was OK and to let them know if we needed anything too which was nice. The staff cannot make you more welcome if they try,the entertainment for the kids is second to none including daily treasure hunts and competitions without admitting them to the children's club and they are always giving lots of prizes away - with kids aged 5 & 7 what more can they want!

The Lazy River is wonderful for all ages. The two al a carte restaurants are fantastic, you are supposed to get a visit to each of them per stay but some guests told us to just ask if they are full and book again which we did no problem at all. The Luna De Mare (Italian) is in the hotel itself and matches any top restaurant in the west end of london ie the Savoy or the Ritz, the service is second to none and the Three Palms is very special and is just a free shuttle bus ride but is still on the hotel grounds. We took advantage of the two nights we used these restaurants to have a hotel baby sitter who was very nice and about £25 for 4 hours including the tip. She was 10 minutes late on both occasions but hey she was jamaican and they rush for no one!

When we went back we took the girls with us - best behaviour and they loved them too and the staff were just as accommodating to them as they were to us!

We would return there but not with Air Jamaica, it was our first time flying with them direct from Heathrow, their fleet of Aircraft are incredibly tatty, especially the toilets, not dirty just old and the paint was missing in lots of places etc, the tv screens(centre aisle every 10 rows or so - not individual) didn't work properly on both flights and they don't have any childrens channels at all, after flying with Emirates who win endless airline of the year awards (and it shows) and Virgin who are so catered for children this was a big disappointment especially on a nearly 10 hour flight. Some friends we met there were told that Virgin should be flying to Montego Bay as of this year - lets hope so!

Just beware that Virgin holidays do this resort but you will have an Air Jamaica flight (Code JM??) some people out there didn't realise they weren't flying with Virgin until they checked in at Heathrow went to the Virgin Desk and were then directed to the Air Jamaica Desk, and were not happy!

Had a great time but couldn't help feeling as though you were expected to tip everybody.

The waterpark is worth travelling all that way for and my son enjoyed the slides and pools.

We were out of season visitors and had the luxury of being on an island in the middle of the water park where a small spa pool acted as a private pool when I needed a break from swimming with him!

Meals were great and there was always plenty to choose from - I'm a vegetarian and was a little aprehensive.

We put our snorkels on around the edge of the sea/rocks of the hotels beach and was pleasantly surprised to see angel fish there.

Try the Ambassador Reef cocktail - I had to keep ordering twice as many as my son took a liking to them.

A great experience and a great hotel overall.

When we arrived at the reception we were asked for our credit card incase any charges were made on our room... We found this hard as we don't have credit cards for personnal use, so were lucky that we had one of our business cards with us, be aware of this as we were not told we would need this! One family was told on check in that if they could not check him in if they did not have a card (not sure how they worked it out!)

We arrived at the Wyndham with open eyes, even after a 10 hour flight... the views from the terrace bar was amazing...

Our Rooms were clean and bright with a lovely view over the golf course. Make sure you request a high floor with golf course viewing or you will be stuck behind lots of trees on ground floors with no view. Or you may get views overlooking the pool area where they occasionally have entertainment which can be loud especially if you have kids.Easy access to all floors with the lifts on both sides of the building.

The best part of this holiday was definatley the water park. There is something for everyone at the water park, lazy river, jaquzzi, slides. etc etc..Kids had much fun in there and we never saw them all day which meant we could relax too. Beach was lovely with clear warm waters. Water Park bar was a bit of a nightmare getting drinks.

The most down fall about the wyndham was the lack of evening entertainment. Come 10pm and it went quiet... you could go to the Cricket Club disco but kids not allowed after 10pm, so the only bar available was the terrace which never seemed to have much of an atmosphere.
They did have some entertainment evenings which were great but you had to "find" were they were and if you eat late like we did you missed half of it!

Can only comment on the breakfast which was lovely and the "cafe" resturant where the food was excellent.

An excellent hotel but if it did not have the water park it would only be an average hotel.

My partner and I had our holiday in paradise with this hotel. It had very friendly, helpful staff. beautiful setting and a wide range of facilities for young and old.

The rooms were excellently kept, always clean.

The food was just amazing especially the Three Palms restaurant.

The water park was fantastic especially if you have children.

Night time entertainment was ok but at the end of the day it was nice to relax, there is so much to do especially seeing the magnificent sunrise who needs to stay up till 3-4 in the morning?

Day trips were good. Dunns river, Ricks cafe and swimming with the dolphins to top it all made a fantastic holiday I will never forget.

You will not regret going to this hotel

January 2003

We are a couple from the UK in our early thirty's with two children aged 13 and 7. We booked our wedding/holiday in May 2002, after five months research on your web site and plenty of others before deciding to book the Wyndham Rose Hall in Montego Bay Jamaica, we were there for a week.

We arrived on Saturday 11th January 2003 after a 17 hour delay! Our flight took us via La Romana - Dominican Republic then to Montego Bay. But it was worth it!

The hotel was everything we had dreamed off it was perfect, the grounds were well looked after with flowers, water fountains as you are driven upto the hotel. We were given a room upgrade because of our wedding, we had room 500/01 we had a wonderful ocean view suite on the west tower. The views were fab. We were thrilled with our rooms, I was worried that we wouldn't have enough room for all of us. When I realised we had two adjoining rooms with enough space I was happy, there were two bathrooms and two balconies, I couldn't of asked for more. Check in was 5 minutes and we had a porter take our bags to our room. We also had another family with us two adults and a five year old little girl. This hotel had everything we needed, hairdressers, games room, golf course, beach, water park, the hotel was bigger than we anticipated. The lazy rivers were lovely, you'd sit in your rubber ring with a pina collada in your hand and let the current take you around, we loved it! you also had slides that came down from the top of a windmill, one of the slides you could come down on in your rubber ring the other on your bum!

There was a playground but our kids were having more fun on the beach and in the pool on the slides, we never went there. We also played tennis you had to hire the rackets for $10. My hubby went scuba diving this wasn't in the all-inclusive, so he paid about $100 he had a fabulous time the pictures was great. Over the week we also done canoeing, and we were took out on a sailing boat and man called Kid took us, he told us that the weather wasn't very good, it hadn't been as hot that week, while we could just about stand the heat in our trunks and bikinis, he was rapped up well!

I met with the wedding co-odinater on the Monday to finalise the details we were due to be married on the Wednesday, in my package I was to receive a wedding cake & decorated location, I paid extra for the video and 36 pictures. I took my own flowers with me, I had them made up here in the UK before we went.

On the days leading up to our wedding we saw about 7 weddings they were all beautiful, we had an option to get married on the beach or the wedding gazebo, I opted for the wedding gazebo, the beach was a bit windy and the gazebo seemed more picturesque. The Minister was lovely he explained every thing to us the night before the wedding and the day went perfect! we had pictures taken on the beach, the golf course, the bridge over the pool and at the gazebo. These were well worth $200 we were also given the negatives too. The video was nice to bring home for the family who didn't come with us to see us get married. After the ceremony the photographer took some pictures then we had champagne, followed by the wedding cake, this cake was lovely it looked like a meringue, but it was all cream.... delicious.

We were told we had too cut a little piece off each and feed each other with the cake apparently this is a Jamaican tradition, this was funny I got more cake than my hubby he got hardly any as I dropped a bit of his on the floor, then we had to kiss each other with the cake in our mouths, sound awful but the pictures of these turned out great, then we linked arms and drank the champagne, after signing the register, we then walked from the gazebo to the beach this was a lovely setting for pictures my hubby rolled up his pants picked me up and walked us in the sea for a picture. We couldn't fault the wyndham all their staff they really helped us make our day a perfect one.

I also booked my bridesmaid and myself to have our hair and make up done on the day, being a hairdresser I was a little picky to what I wanted, but they did a fantastic job! it was $80 each for hair and make up which I thought was a good price. I didn't fancy doing it myself, this gave us more time at the pool in the morning we weren't due to be married till 3.30pm and we were still sunning it at the pool until 11.30am!

When we got back to our room after the wedding and our maid had made up two swans with towels with scattered fresh flowers over them on our bed, I thought this was a lovely touch, and a nice surprise.

The food at the restaurants was hot buffet, we had no complaints, we ate at all of them. As part of our all-inclusive we could eat at the two posh restaurants once each during our stay, so we booked the Italian restaurant for our reception.

On the Tuesday my daughter was taken ill and had to go to hospital, the hotel manager 'Navada' was fantastic he arranged for my daughters transport to the hospital there and back and her prescription to be collected from the pharmacy in Montego Bay. We stayed in our room on that day because she was poorly with Tonsillitis, and we ordered room service 4 times for her, he never charge us for this, we couldn't thank them enough, everything was 'no problem'.

Our holiday rep told us we didn't have to tip but we did, I tipped the maid , 'Kid' , the guy who took us out on the boat and most of the waiters in the restaurants and the porter, I found at the end of the week, that a $1 tip didn't mean much they must think us British are tight with money as to our $1 tip every one else was tipping about $10, but adding all the tips up through the week we had tipped over $40 so it can add up! saying that we didn't get any different treatment than anyone else. You say 'please' and 'thankyou' with a smile and they love it! I did give my maid a $10 tip before we left.

Having a 17 hour delay getting there was bad enough, and everyone we spoke to from the UK had had delay's too. I think ours will take some beating though. On our return we got on the plane to find out that there was not enough food for everyone on the plane. So we never got fed!!! Our children were starving, no doubt I will be claiming this back off Mytravel, 8 hours is a long time without food and drink.

When we return to Jamaica we will defiantly go to the Wyndham, we seen a few hotels along the way to our hotel and they just didn't match it sorry!
