The room was shabby, air conditioning was not working properly, towels had seen better days. At breakfast if you got there when breakfast first started you would have to wait for 30 mins for it all to arrive. The staff were very friendly. By the time we got into the second week we had had enough of the room we were in and upgraded to their brand new rooms, cost another £130 for 4 nights but it was heaven after the room we were in. Entertainment was average, bar service was very laid back. We chose this hotel after staying in the Ronil for 2 years, prefered the Ronil.

Arrived at the hotel and as per our last visit our room was not ready. So went to breakfast and was allocated our room about 10.30am - Room 2201. Overlooking the front of the hotel with a side pool view, large double bed, fridge air-conditioning shower and tea and coffee making facilities

The room was very clean and cleaner and in better repair than last years room of 2104

The front desk help was excellent, nothing was too much trouble including ringing the airport and tour operator when I discovered I left my purse on the plane, to supplying a hack saw to get my suitcase locks off as the key was in my purse.

Towels changed very other day as was the bed. Ideally I would like fresh towels every day. Cleaning of room good and didn't knock you up too early.

Bar area is one of this hotels strengths as you have to walk though it on your way in and out which means it is supported by other guests, for a drink on their way our or a nightcap, and usually there is someone to chat too.

Breakfast was chaotic and often there were insufficient cups, plates etc. Always restocked when asked however if only the Indians could be more pro active and not just reative this hotel would be better and breakfast would be more enjoyable. Always plenty of staff around however no one seemed to have responsibilty for a particular area. Breakfast consisted of freshly cooked eggs, toast, cereal, fresh fruit and sometimes bacon, beans etc. By Goa standard again more than some hotels offer but still frustrating when you want a coffee and you have to wait for cups. Can't comment on the other food as only had breakfast in the hotel

Another annoyance was on returning to the room the towels had been taken and not replenished. A simple phone call to reception and towels were brought but again frustrating.

The location of this hotel is superb, one road back from the busy Candolim road, however quiet and easy to get to bars, shops, beach etc.

There was some sort of entertainment on most nights however I do not go to Goa to spend my evenings at the hotel.

I would revisit the hotel for the price I paid this year £1300 for 2, from 20th Jan 2008 for 2 weeks by 2009 prices of nearly £1600 are over the top, so I will stay elsewhere

Our room was very basic and shabby.

The toilet was dirty when we arrived, most days there was no hot water, you had to keep asking for more soap and shampoo the shower hand rail came off in my hand when I grasped it and the toilet kept blocking.

There were no drawers in the room to put your clothes away in.

We were offered another room after complaining but this was on the fifth floor and as there was no lift we decided against it.

The breakfast was very basic but the hygiene standards left a lot to be desired.

The early morning call requested on our departure day was eighteen minutes late.

In over thirty years of traveling the world I can honestly say that this was one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in.

The hotel was fairly clean though lot of surface dust. Pigions nesting under the eves near the air con unit meant that we were awoken each morning by them moving around.

Banging on the air con unit made them shift but only to an alcove outside the bathroom window!

The bathroom smelt a bit funny and most of the tiles were cracked. There was no balcony.

They are extending the hotel which meant that you could not sit around the pool or eat the very poor breakfast due to the noise/dust which went on 8am-9.30pm. Saving grace was the omlettes.Eating area very small and as a result got crowded. Cosmos did not notify us of the building work prior to the holiday.

Good location, despite the above, was quiet after building work stopped.

Staff very friendly and understandig when we complained, though we feel that they were doing maintaiance work during the night on a couple of occassions, as we were kept awake by what sounded like banging pipes. When my partner went to complain, he was told that there was no work taking place but saw a man in overalls emerging form the cellar with a spanner in his hand at 4am!

As a result of the building work, we did not stay in for any entertainment, so cannot comment.

The way things are at the moment, we would not go back to this hotel

This is a small basic hotel. I noticed a big difference in the quality of the rooms. I noticed all new guest complained about their rooms. I think perhaps they give you a bad room to see if you complain.

We were offered a room near reception first which was very tired...hopefully it will be updated during the quiet period. As we arrived early in the morning it was the only room available. We took the room as we weren't too bothered about the room as you only sleep there but as we discovered the room was by reception and hence phone rings often. This kept us awake for the first few nights but we didn't want the hassle of changing rooms. The others in our party waited 4 hours for their room which was in the 5th block and was much better.

The breakfast is a bit limited but OK. We often had breakfast out as the coffee was better. We had lunch sometimes by the pool which was OK but nothing special apart from the samosas. We normally went to the end of the road where there was a bar and restaurant as it was better and cheaper.

I would recommend this hotel as I prefer the smaller hotels as they are friendlier and the staff didn't disappoint.

Our 2nd time at the Phoenix Park.

We asked for a room over reception and got a lovely big room with pool room. These rooms don't have a balcony so this may not be to everyones taste but we prefer them as it means the room is a lot bigger and when we are in Goa at this time of year we find it too hot to sit on the balcony anyway.

We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and didn't eat any other meals in the hotel. We were disappointed with breakfast as the hotel have now moved it outside to a covered area which is very small for the amount of guests. Breakfast itself wasn't very good, not as much choice as when we previously stayed there. Every day they seemed to run out of cups, glasses, juice, bread etc, so often we didn't bother going!

Overall though we found the hotel very clean and the staff happy and helpful.

The pool is lovely but another problem with moving the breakfast outside is that it's taken up a lot of the sunbathing areas. All the sunbeds were gone by 8.30 to 9am each morning which wasn't a major problem for us as we prefer the beach but occasionally we would have liked to chill by the pool for a couple of hours. Often the beds had towel on but people didn't use them until later in the day which is very annoying but when I spoke to the pool guy about it he just shrugged.

We didn't stay for any of the hotel entertainment so can't comment on that but there seemed to be different things on offer most nights.

After emailing the hotel several weeks before our holiday requesting two upper floor adjacent rooms with balcony overlooking the garden and pool, we were disappointed that both couples were allocated rooms facing the piles of rubbish on the other side of the hotel.

The rooms were comfortable however and the manager did arrange a change of room after one week for one couple. We did engage in conversation with other couples totally dissatisfied with their rooms so where you are allocated appears to be the luck of the draw.

Our rooms were equipped with two fans and an air conditioning unit. The A/C unit had to be replaced part way through our stay after breaking down. We were regularly left without hot water but with the temperature being constantly in the high thirties, the cold water was pleasant to shower in.

As a regular visitor to Goa the cleanliness of the hotel in general was of a reasonable standard. The room boy in our room changed half way through the holiday. The first one was very good and changed the towels daily creating a variety of sculptures. The second one however was the opposite and we had to request towels from room service on several occasions. There were also bits of dirty mop left on the floor on which was a bit disconcerting.

The mini bar in the room was basic but well priced. The pool bar although more expensive was also reasonably priced. Be aware that tax is added to the prices on the drinks menu. On four occasions we were short changed at the pool bar when paying our bill. Geoffrey's Pub advertised as "The most happening place in Goa" which is part of the complex was never open in the 4 weeks we were there.

Due to the numerous places to eat, the only meals taken in the hotel was breakfast which was quite good. This consisted of cereal, fruit juice, tea, coffee, toast, fresh fruit, fresh eggs cooked scrambled, poached, omellette etc.,either grilled tomatoes or baked beans. The seating area is limited however so we had to pick our time.

In general and notwithstanding the above, the staff were most helpful and friendly throughout the hotel.
Gopal the security man on the main entrance was always there to greet you with a salute and to wish you a good day.

Some of the blocks need a facelift, two of which currently have tarpaulins covering parts of the roof.

Phoenix Park Inn Hotel is just a short walk away from the manic main road of Candolim. Having visited many hotels in Goa, Phoenix Park rates among one of the better ones and we would be happy to stay there again.

We stayed at the Phoenix from Feb 24-Mar 11 and had a brilliant time.

The hotel is in a great location.we had asked for 2 rooms with balcony and got 2 together. Rooms 2202&2203.

They were lovely and clean with a sitting area,2 chairs and glass coffee table, writing desk, fridge with drinks and kettle, mugs and free tea/coffee.the bed was very large and comfy. Sat.tv and aircon included plus 2 fans. The bathroom was fine, and clean.a nice touch was a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of wine from the manager in both rooms.breakfast was good with fresh
fruit/juice,cereal,toast/rolls,eggs to order, sausages or beans or tomatoes and an indian dish.

The hotel was very clean had a lovely pool and gardens. Had a couple of lunchtime snacks and they were good.didn't eat there in the evenings as so many restaurants to try.the bar was only a little more expensive than outside e.g.kingfisher 80r instead of 65r.

All the staff without exception were very friendly and helpful.they recharged my ipod without cost. Also had a security box in our room which was free, deposit of 2500r for key.

When we were a sunbed short the pool boy got us enother from somewhere. There are also nice pool towels free of charge.

The room was cleaned daily with nice white towels everyday and white bedding every other day. You could have 14 bottles of water delivered to your room for 180r also beer or breezers.we couldn't fault this hotel at all.

It was our 3rd trip to Goa and the nicest hotel yet. We would definately return here. The beach was about a 10 minute stroll away.

This is our 5th visit to Goa and apart from one all have been to Candolim.

The location is ideal one road back from the main and manic main road, 10-15 mins walk to either beach road or the beach road near Whispering Palms

The staff were very helpful, although the service at breakfast time was sometimes erratic, and tea could be luke warm.

Cleaning was good however the window in room 2104 looked as if it hadn't been cleaned sisnce the hotel had opened.

Drinks in the mini bar were very reasonable however the hotel pool bar added taxes which made it dearer to dink there than your mini bar. One bar man in particular never offered you your chagne adn this I found annoying as I will make the decision to tip not the staff.

Overal by Goan standards I still feel this hotel offers fair accomodation against other 3 star hotels in Candolim. I feel this hotle is more personal than the concrete Highland Beach Resort

We arrived at our hotel around 1pm we where checked in straight away and porters carried our suitcase up to the fourth floor.

The rooms are spacious and clean. The bed is a little hard. The rooms where cleaned daily and clean towels everyday.

The pool area is a little small and only one part gets the sun as there are so many palm trees within the complex.

Bar staff are friendly and helpful and always have smiles on there faces.

Arrived at the hotel about 9am. There was no fuss checking in and we were allocated our room straight away.

Our room was clean, although the table tops and shelves
was a bit dusty. Plenty of space to hang clothes but only two small drawers for underwear etc.

The room had a large double bed which was quite comfortable, the bed linen was spotless as were the towels.

Nice pool area with plenty of sun beds but they are taken quite early.

Good selection of dishes at breakfast although the seating area is very small.

The hotel is in a good location, down a small side road
away from the traffic.

Would we stay there again? Yes.

Hotel clean by Goan standards.

Staff very helpful. Food quite good (although we did not eat there often)

Hotel located quite central. But looking through previous reports on this hotel I unfortunately got "lumbered" in block 5. View from balcony of tin roofs and steel pylon.

Bathroom diabolical had to run roung in the shower to get wet as the water went everywhere but on me. I agree with a prevous comment that block 5 must be an overspill block.

We were only staying for a week before moving on to the Mariott (thank god) and I think that is the reason we were put in Cell Block H (as I affectionately called it)Spent 2 days of my holiday doing nothing but complain. Second night sat in the dark for an hour thinking it was a normal power cut, before going outside to find that only our room was in darkness. Admitedly someone came right away to attend to the problem (took 3 people 1 screwdriver and a torch to discover it was a problem with the kettle !!!!!!)

Sink was coming away in the bathroom. Tarpaulin was on the roof of the block indicating what!!!!! Tea and coffee was never replaced always had to go and ask. Was awakend at 5 one morning to the noise of the generator (obviously outside our window)The rep said they were just little tweaks that needed doing. She told us that fruit would be sent to the room _ never happened.

I do have to say that the staff were brilliant. They could not do enough for you and always had a smile on their faces. The other block looked fine the hotel was seriously let down by Cell Block H.

Hotel was in a good position away from the main road.

Room was clean and I am assured by fellow travellers good by Goan standards.

There was always plenty of choice at Breakfast and if you ate early there was always a table available.

The staff were always helpful and the room boys gave excellent service and entertainment with their towel sculptures!!

The hotel did provide evening entertainment but as we ate out all the time we did not see that much of it.

I thought it was in an excellent position and would not hesitate in returning.

The Phoenix park hotel is in the perfect location it is right beside the bank ATM machine the elephant shop and all the bars and restaurants.

The hotel is fine and the staff cant do enough for you we had reported a kettle that had blown a fuse a light bulb that was out and one time we needed tea bags and they were all at the door within minutes of being reported to reception.

The rooms are bright spacious and very well furnished with nice wall pictures a little tabel and a sofa ...the room has tea and coffee making facalites that was a god send.

There is a fridge in the room and you can order 14 beer or barcardi breezers for 3or 4 hundred rupees and they are delivered to your room ....NOT all rooms have a balcony we did have one in our room it was quite small and had no chairs to sit outside on ...we were in the block above the breakfast area we had a nice pool view and I liked the room OK ..

The young lad who done our room was called Sandeep he was a lovely young man and made us some of the best towel art I have ever seen in all my traveling days ...swans..a crown..a butterfly...a kite..a flower..a boy out of my husbands clothes and a girl out of my own clothes right down to her hat and sunglasses ...Sandeep done our room more than well and we had clean sheets and fresh towels everyday ....could have done with a few more coat hangers although I always bring my own as I have found this problem in many hotels ....

The breakfast area was very cramped far too many tables in such a small place but the breakfast was good they had a good choice and you will always find something to eat ...juice...toast...fruit ...cereal....eggs to your liking ...bacon..and sausage but they are not out every morning.

You will find something on in the hotel every night (not sat)and they do try to involve all the guests to join in it is good fun....also you will find something on every night in Candolim somewhere within walking distance .....
My only hiccup with the hotel was our BATHROOM ..it had a horrible smell in it ..it was definitely not sewers the smell was coming from the shower waste drain the hotel manager and the maintenance staff plus other staff members did their best to solve it they used bleach sewer rods disinfectant and caustic soda but the smell always come back PLEASE dont let this put you off the Phoenix park the hotel is fine just bad luck re/the smell .....would I go back yes would I advise you to go yes it is a good hotel .....irishcolleen

My wife and I stayed on a bed and breakfast board basis.

The best time to eat breakfast was before 08.00 when the hot dishes were still hot and no queue for the chef who would prepare eggs on demand.

The room was in block 2 and smelt damp with mould on the curtains. Repeated efforts from the rep to resolve the problem resulted in a toilet air freshener being placed behind the grill of the air conditioned. This certainly changed the smell.

Although there was always hot water the bathroom was dirty with a badly stained and dirty toilet and many cracked tiles with dirt in the cracks.

We did not try evening meals due to the large selection of restaurants only a short stroll away. The hotel is away from the noisy road and about a ten minute walk to the long sandy beach.

The staff tried hard one night with a pirate show which attracted a good sized crowd but was way too loud. Staff all tried really hard to please and were always friendly, however their standards are a lot lower than we were expecting, especially with regard to cleaning.

We arrived very early morning. I had emailed the manager and requested a balcony and possibly a pool view. Both requests ignored. After waiting almost two hours to see the manager we were eventually allocated a suitable room.

Seldom ate breakfast at the hotel which was acceptableby Goan standards. We also had some snacks by the pool which were very nice, pizza chips etc.

Hotel is in a great location only 2 mins walk from the main street. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Our room boy Sandeep was fantastic and very obliging, nothing was too much bother.

Never stayed in the hotel of an evening so cant comment on the evening entertainment, although I heard it was very good. For being a newish hotel I thought it seemed old and a bit run down. A coat of paint in the room would not have gone amiss! The balcony was often dirty and had lots of pigeon pooh so you couldnt sit in it and enjoy any kind of view. No coat hangers or drawer space in room.

As I say staff very nice but would not stay at this hotel again, have visited others far superior to this.

The hotel was clean and a nice play to stay. Linen was cahnged daily and the staff were very pleasant.

Breakfast was buffet style, toast, jam with eggs cooked however you wanted them - fried, poached, omlettes, etc. Perfectly OK for the start to the day. Only had one meal at the hotel (daughter was ill that night) and was very average. We wnet at the end of the season so no BBQ or entertainment - so cannot comment on that - although it was featured in the brochure.

It didn't matter anyway - there was plenty to do outside of the hotel. Location was spot on within easy reach of the beach and nearby bars and restaurants. The pool was very nice and the staff were always attentive and cleaned the place all day and every day.

The only downside was the prices for drinks and food at the hotel. The prices were not cheap compared with other establishments nearby anyway. So when I first receive my bill from the pool bar for a few snacks and a few beers there was a 20% tax added. No one could explain what it was for - but it was excessive. So didn't use the place for much after that. Except for sleeping, showering, breakfast and using the pool.

All in all an excellent place for a base and would have no hestiation in staying there again if and when we go back.

First stay in this hotel. Although 5th time to the resort. Hotel is small and well run.

The rooms are clean and well maintained. Linen is changed daily.

The hotel staff are very friendly and always willing to help.

The pool is only small but you are only a 10 min walk from the beach.

The breakfast was varied and there was enough selection each day to suit most tastes.

Although we didn't eat at the hotel of an evening the BBQ looked fantastic. Most nights there was some form of entertainment on.

A very nice hotel with friendly staff. Pool, pool area and gardens cleaned daily.

Rooms are on four levels in five buildings without lifts. Only a few rooms have balconies and most overlook other buildings. We were lucky and had room 4204 overlooking the pool. There are no sea views.

Rooms cleaned daily and repairs carried out promptly.

Safety boxes available free at hotel reception but refundable deposit of 2500 rupees required. Hotel security was good with guard at entrance.

Mini bar very reasonably priced and stocked daily.

100 metres walk to the busy Candolim main street and a further 600 meters to the long sandy beach.

About 26 comfortable sun loungers available around pool. Some days they were all "reserved" by 8am, but most days there was no problem even though the hotel was almost full. Most people chose to spend their time on the lovely beach or on local trips.

Good choice of breakfast was available 07.30 till 10.30 and was help yourself. Some variation of food daily. There was no rush and plenty of seating in the covered outdoor area or on tables outside.

Pool bar serves drinks and good quality snacks through the day and evening. Restaurant opens in the evenings. Tax at about 20% is added to all hotel bills.

Most nights there was some entertainment by the pool.
Guests during December were mainly British and Russian.

This hotel is highly recommended.

Booked a year in advance to CSM, but relocated to Phoenix Park by First Choice just two weeks before departure, as CSM full. Very glad we were, as this is by far superior to CSM in which we stayed previous year.

Hotel clean, Ok a bit basic, but the staff were always enthusiastic and tried very hard. This is Goa after all.

Location great, just a short stroll to the beach, although be prepared for the nightmare roads when walking. While we were there they were re-surfacing, so it was worse than normal. This settled after a few days.

Staff were very friendly and very helpful. They went out of their way to describe items on the menu. Breakfast was buffet style and a mix of fruit, eggs, and Indian styles. Toast always available.

Would certainly visit again as a couple. Unfortunately, came to book for 2006 for 3 adults and they don't offer single rooms, so sadly had to book at a different hotel, due only to budget.

Firstly a word of warning. We arrived around 4pm and we were told that we were the last to arrive that day. Inevitably we were allocated what I suspect was the worst room in the hotel. It was in Block 5 in the corner of the hotel complex.

It was gloomy, in the shadow of the Geoffrey’s Bar opposite. It looked like it had not been cleaned properly, it smelt damp and there was a noisy fan from Geoffrey’s Bar which was on all night preventing us from sleeping. We noticed that the rooms on the first floor above us were locked up and the stairs were unswept. It seemed that Block 5 was not regularly in use. Fortunately a room became free the next day and they moved us.

We met two other families at the hotel who had been given the same room and they had also protested and were moved. So if you don’t want to be disappointed, make sure that you don’t get a room in Block 5 – i.e. a room number beginning with 5. We suspect that these rooms are used in reserve and they half expect people to complain.

The rest of the holiday in the hotel went like a dream. We were very impressed by the swimming pool – every bit as good as you find, say, in a good hotel in Spain – and the swaying coconut palm trees above you created a great environment. There were a limited number of sun beds but we always found one.

The staff were very helpful and friendly.

We felt that the rooms could have been cleaned better, and also the stair wells. They just seem to go around with a sweeping brush and miss out the corners. But we think that this is probably typical of Goa.

Although the towels were clean and were changed every day it was obvious that they were fairly old and worn.

After we were allocated our original room in Block 5 we went out around Candolim to see if we could find a better hotel. We felt that as a whole the Phoenix Park Inn had the best facilities around and provided they could reallocate the room we decided to stay there. We were not disappointed.

We were greeted by the manager with a welcome drink, just what we needed after the 11 hour flight, endless queues at the airport and a hot bus ride to the hotel.

Our room was large with a king-size bed, air-con, fans, mini-bar and tea/coffee making facilities. It was at the side of the hotel but even if you were at the front, the hotel is far enough away from the road so the noise doesn't bother you.

Breakfast had the usual eggs, bacon, sausages, cereal, toast etc with a local dish to try as well. We ate at the hotel a couple of nights and the food was great, especially the Indian and Goan nights. Food and drinks were available all day from the poolside bar and were very reasonably priced.

The staff, especially the waiters, couldn't have been any friendlier. When our TV stopped working someone was up to our room to sort it within literally 1 minute of phoning reception. Our only complaint was that whilst our used towels were taken away every day, they weren't always replaced with new ones and we had to go ask for some a few times. We even resorted to hanging one up amongst our clothes in the wardrobe at one point but they still took it away!

The hotel seems to have its own group of taxi drivers who congregate outside who seemed to charge the same if not less than the taxis you could get on the main road.

We used the massage centre next door which is owned (I think) by the hotel. Full Indian head massage with a face pack for 250Rs which is about £3.30.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel, in fact we are already planning a return visit for early next year.

Phoenix Park Inn one of the nicest hotels in Goa.

I have been visiting Goa for fourteen years and this year 60 of us travelled together, for those first timers to Goa, the icing on the cake was the Phoenix, and all have re booked for 2006, praise to all the hotel staff and management

We were a bit dissapointed at first view of the hotel. We arrived at the same time as the party of 57 mentioned by Ann, but were immediatley singled out by reception and booked in with no fuss. Our room was on the top (3rd) floor of the block encompassing geoffreys bar.

A largish 'L' shaped room with a double(kingsize ?)bed, small table and two wicker type easy chairs, adequate wardrobe space etc. TV , mini bar and tea making facilities.
the room felt as if it had not been used recently or cleaned thoroughly and the walls had scuff marks on the paint etc (why do hotels NEVER clean off splattered mossies?).

With ref to Ann's comment about mirrors, we had a full length one on the outside of the bathroom door, but I didn't notice if there was a plug socket handy for hair dryer etc.

Elec was typical, power cuts etc and the hotel has its own generator so this was not a problem, however hot water WAS a problem. Perhaps this due to the large party all coming home at the same time and heading for the shower en mass.
bedding was clean and extra pillows supplied with no delay, hand towels were missing but this was also remdied quickley and were kept up with all the holiday with only an occasssional lapse.

We used the laundry once and it was ok and on time although several guests had misplaced items and delays.

Breakfast was eggs mainly , but there was always bacon or sausage with mushrooms beans or tomatoes as well as cereals, fruit and some local dishes.

The fruit juice was not really cold enough which could have been improved.
We ate only once in geoffreys and it was OK, but ate out every night at differing restaurants so cannot comment on evening meals, but there was a speciality board each day by the poolwith a kitchen set up ouside.

The pool, was clean but smallish with a kids pool and small play area for children. Too few sunbeds if you wanted to laze by the pool.
The hotel is in a quiet area with easy walks to the beach and plenty of taxis at the entrance.

Safety deposit boxes encur a deposit of 2500 rps which is refundable when you hand in your key, these are in the managers office and so are quite secure.

Checking out was easy and the mini bar bill was a mere 700 rps (I have no idea how they keep track of it as the receipts on top of the mini bar were never filled in) and was much less than I had anticipated and it included the laundry bill.

The staff and management are without fault and are very friendly and obliging.
This is a hotel that I would feel no qualms about going back to, though oddly we visited the Highland resort and were impressed by the room they showed us and a couple from the Highland visited the Phoenix and said that it was better!

The only thing I would recommend is not to stay at any hotel where there is a single large party stying at the samme time,as thety tend to "take over".

As we checked out I noticed that there were a lot of Swiss/Austrian/German visitors checking in. It is featured in one of the german tour operator brochures.

We stayed in a double room in Dahl Block. The bed was very comfortable (Possibly the best we have had in Goa.)The aircon and fans were excellent and did their job. Hot water was spasmodic, and I felt the bathroom was dangerous as it was the only place where there was a mirror to dry your hair. A mirror in the main room would have made much more sense.

The apartments were cleaned everyday, (however the staff lovely as they were, could never quite get it right)!
They either forgot to replace bath towels or left us with one. Didn't top up the tea, coffee or mini bar, our laundry on more than one occasion went to the wrong room, or we got someone elses! However everything was sorted in the end and there were no tears.

The pool area was too small for the amount of guests staying their at the time, (bearing in mind they did have an unannounced party of 57 who had been double-booked in The Highland.) As a result of this we could never get a bed by the pool no matter how early we got up.

Breakfast in Geoffrey's bar was basic mainly eggs to order, but again due to the high volume of guests the staff struggled to maintain standards and people were stood around waiting for tables and the food, tea, coffee and milk to be replenished. The Staff tried their best to compensate buy laying tables outside. In my opinion they needed more "trained" staff when the hotel was this full.
However the staff in general were pleasant and polite.

There seemed to be entertainment laid on every night but we chose to go outside the complex in the evenings so can't comment on how good or bad it was.

Hotel was in an excellent location near to beach, shops etc. Always a taxi available outside.

Even though there were some problems, I would visit this hotel again.

Stayed on third floor room on reception block, overlooking the pool ( I'm no fitness fanatic and had no problem with stairs at all). We had no noise at all! The way the rooms are laid out means you hear absolutely nothing from other guests. We had a very comfortable king size bed, sofa, chairs and table and chairs. Shower was not always hot and depending on time of day was not always very powerful but you get this most hotels at certain times of day. Air conditionong and ceiling fans were excellent.

Had breakfast (excellent eggs to order) and a couple of meals in hotel - all were very good but would always recommend to eat out of the hotel - not because the hotel does anything wrong, just because you get such varied cheaper options in the shacks and restaurants. We did stay at the Hotel for their Valentines evening and it was fantastic. The barbecue and buffet was great and the entertainment had to be seen to be believed! It was lovely to see the waiters, bar staff and chefs join in for one mad dance with all of the guests.

It really showed how good they were with all their guests and how friendly they all are.
Didn't really use the pool, but always looked clean and quiet. Location was set back from main road so there is no noise from passing cars at all.

Still close enough for a gentle stroll to the beach.
Staff all round were very friendly and helpful, including the hotel tailor.

Would recommend to anyone, so much so we're already booking for next year.

We have stayed at Phoenix since it first opened (2003) in fact luckily twice a season sometimes.

Having been able to holiday in Goa since 1993, we have over the years stayed at numerous so called hotels! We can, and do say, there is not another hotel in Goa that comes any-where near Phoenix Park.

On arriving, there is always a lovely warm welcome from all at reception desk with complementary drink. All rooms are tastefully decorated, beds/bedding (just like home) are made up with spotlessly clean linen every day, as are the towels. Rooms have ceiling fans/air-con, satellite TV, fridge, and tea/coffee making facility. On request at desk hair/dryers and irons are free to guests.

Hotel location is ideal for all resort amenities, but food in the hotel is more than adequate for any tastes you may desire. Menus at hotel are varied and interesting (bbq nights, not to be missed).theme nights also impressive, all in all we are always amazed how they manage to please everyone.

now to comment about all the staff, Mario the manager runs a tight ship, but nothing is too much trouble to sort out(if you anything sorted).from the room-boys, waiters, chefs, and assistant/managers, all help to make our holidays a brilliant event time after time.

Forgot to praise the gardener-girls, and maintenance staff. (Don’t go to this hotel please! so we can get a room when we go back again)

Pheonix Park Inn with out doubt one of the best in Goa for the price, we book always direct with the manager and get rooms on ground floor the rooms are spacious, cleaned daily. The room staff leave you surprises with your clothes and towels, all in great taste, the staff are faultless, they can not do enough to help you.

The manager Mario is always approachable and will sort things very fast.

The entertainment is typically Indian, is best way to describe it, we have stayed here since it opened and been to Goa many times I would recommend it in a heart beat.

Top tip take your own bacon they cook it every day for you.

The entertainment on special nights, Xmas, Festivals, Giants night, Diwali are brilliant and a great experience to join in. Try to make your trip around these times.

Clean hotel, staff always polite and will help you out with anything. The food/breakfast was okish by Goan standards, could do with a hotter breakfast and a bit more fruit. The air con in the breakfast area was not on sometimes but I just asked and they turned it on.

The location is fine, not far from the beach.

I will always stay at this hotel, unless they put their prices through the roof.

I arrived at the hotel early in the morning and the first thing I noticed how well looked after the grounds were and the pool, although not olympic size, looked good.

The staff at reception were friendly and attentive the staff ,which was a good start. The twin room we got was overlooking the pool. The room smelled fresh and was very clean. The room was scrubbed clean every day, towels and sheets changed as well, and when you returned it did smell like it has been cleaned as well as looking it.

I think you should keep in mind that the hotel is a 3 star and not 5 star, there is no marble or gold fittings but it is very tastefully decorated and is spacious enough as well as being practical. The beds are fine(not the reinforced concrete mattresses I have heard about in India).

The satellite tv is great with decent movie channels and in english.the bathroom has a good shower with plenty of hot water and is a decent size. There is a seperate room for the kitchen, this didnt have a cooker installed, but I think thats because I wasnt self catering, but who wants to cook anyway? The lounge area was seperated by a partition and that again was a fine size.Every room had a ceiling fan and plenty of lights and sockets, and the air conditioning was really good.

I had 3 meals in the hotel and every one was excellent, breakfast was good with a decent choice, only one cereal though but this did change every day, plenty of staff on hand, nothing is too much trouble for them, so you can order omeletes or scrambled eggs etc,and they keep the toast coming and the hotplates topped up with sausages etc never runs out.

The entertainment is well...well it is good I have given it a 4 because its a decent effort, not my scene but good enough,it isnt karaoke and some guy trying to organise a game of bingo(thank god).

I certainly would return without any hesitation.

Arrived on time at Goa airport waited for pre arranged taxi from Phoenix Park for 1 hour, no taxi. Had to get my own.

Hearing of this hotel as being new, I expected a lot more. Didnt have the best of starts as they put us on the top floor and wife doesn't like heights (id already told them by email and they said don't worry well be on a low level.

Anyway the rooms were not too clean, just seemed they came in each day and made bed and changed towels, didn't clean floor regularly.

The food I ate was ok. Hotel was situated ok. Fridge didn't work and the kettle. (i like a cuppa) 4 days of asking Mario the manager to sort this out and he eventually got a new fridge. I'm still waiting for a kettle.

The hotel staff were friendly as every goan is!. Entertainment was ok.

All in all the hotel was not really that bad, just that reading the posts made last November I think the standards have slipped.

I don't think i'll go back to this hotel, basically because there are others better in candolim.

p.s. This is my fourth time in goa

This is the best hotel we have stayed at in Candolim.
This was our fourth visit and as a base we could not fault it.
If you stayed on sight there were some annoying things such as 12 sunbeds with very dodgy umbrellas so unless you were early you did not get a bed.
Geffreys where breakfast was served left a lot to be desired but certainly no worse than we have had elsewhere.
A lot of people did not beleive it was a new hotel but it was typically Candolim style but 3*.
The rooms were kept spotless every day including Sunday
We have already booked for this year!

The hotel overall was excellent the staff were learning and, in Eggi the head bar manager, they were being taught very well. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was to much trouble.

Very clean hotel and a great pool area to relax by.

The location of the hotel was excellent situated down a lane and away from the noise of the road. A nice stroll into the town, not hassled in anyway and lots of excellent bars to choose from.

The hotel's entertainment was good but nobody really was interested as there was so much to see and do at night (at least the hotel tried).

One tip about this hotel, ask them to make you a meal that they would eat at home. It’s unbelievable.

situated 300m from the beach, this Hotel is based in Candolim and is in between The Magnum Resort and Dona Alcina.

The Hotel opened In October 2003 so has a few teething problems, ie; only 1 towel per guest, waiters at breakfast more interested in watching the cricket on tv than serving you breakfast, complimetary toiletries not replenished when used.I had a meeting with the manager and pointed these out to him and he was most apologetic and sorted out the problems straight away.

The rooms are very bright and spacious, lounge area, bathroom, bedroom 2 large wardrobes and a room with a sink in( not sure what its purpose is) this was in the twin rooms, but I looked at a double room and it is similar.

All rooms have a fridge, and a kettle with 2 cups and I would advise that you take a mug with you if you want to make your own tea or coffee as the cups are tiny.Televisions have many stations but only about 7 english, but good for films and sport. All rooms have 3 ceiling fans and 2 air conditioning units, 1 of which drips down to the room below, so either ask for a top floor or chuck a pillow on the unit or you wont sleep.

Breakfast was inside Geoffreys Bar. air cond, all set out on the bar was an array of cereal, fruit, boiled eggs, rolls, sweet cakes, beans, mushrooms and alot of indian breakfast food and juices. To have toast , eggs, bacon or and ham the waiters asked you what you wanted and they got it cooked for you, they also pour your tea and bring hot toast.

Swimming pool was kidney shaped and pool towels are available, about 30 sunbeds around the pool, a small bar and they are openeing a childrens play area for next season in the shade, there is also a kids pool and umbrellas.
The Hotelhas a small fitness room air conditioned..but very basic.

Reception was very good all spoke english and safety deposit boxes are free.

Goffreys bar is open til late and serves beer etc, but the music can tend to be a little on the loud side at times.

All staff were very polite and taxis were outside.

Having stayed at Victor Exotica, Whispering Palms and Highland Beach I would rate this hotel the best.

We stayed at this hotel over xmas 2003, booked late and got a very good deal.

The hotel new in August 2003 and was having it's first season.

The rooms I was well impressed by, not that big but well equipped. The room had 2 fans, very good air conditioning (no extra to use), tele, fridge, kettle and mini bar (very cheap). Clean newly painted wall's, friendly efficient cleaners and waiters.

The breakfast was a surprise, full buffet waited b/fast, in air conditioned building. Not like other B/B
hotels I've stayed in Goa - typically tea n toast.

It's yet to be seen if the hotel keeped up it standard, after the wet seasons, staffing and cleaniness, but i'll go back there, no hesitation if the price is right of course!
