Just returned from a pleasant 2 week break at the Destan Hotel, the hotel is well situated, within two minutes walk from the strip in Hisaronu. On arrival you enter through the bar and past the nice shaped pool area to reception, the staff where quite friendly, We stayed Half Board because the cost was'nt much more than B&B. The Turkish breakfast was okay, but the same things each morning, the evening meal was nothing to get too excited about, soup, the usual mezes, and one choice for main course, which was served in the dark as the lighting by the serving area did not work. This hotel does not allow you to take in any food or drinks from outside whatsoever, ..be warned !. Snacks can be bought from the bar and the menu is very reasonably priced.
The room we had was adaquate for what we needed, though suffering from a bit of wear and tear, the bathroom especially so, but it was towards the end of the season, the bedding was changed regularly as where the towels which some days where folded and shaped into swans, hearts and flowers, nice touch !.The hotel has two pool areas and plenty of sunloungers so its not the usual fight in the morning. Overall - The Destan Hotel is clean, very well situated in Hisaronu, the staff are pleasant, and makes a good base to stay, but if we ever return it would be on a B&B basis.

wen we arrived early hrs in the morn, were told that we werent allowed 2 bring any kind of drink or food in2 the hotel, ad 2 buy it from the bar, charged £3.75 4 a litre 0f coke, only ad the bed changed once & that was just the bottom sheet, we think the sun beds could do with a good clean, the mattresses ad stains on them, our toilet flusher fell out of the wall a couple of times. dont expect a big balcony, ours only ad 1 small fold up chair & a small plastic table, l think the only good thing bout this hotel is the location of it, right near the center, just remember if uve got small children who need a drink in the nite dont go to this hotel

The pool area at this hotel was clean and well kept. The bathroom needed some attention as the shower doors tended to fall off! this happened in all of the three rooms our family occupied..The tiolet moved as it was not properly secured to the floor! The balconies are very small and if there is more than two of you, its a bit of a squeeze!
I would like to make everyome aware that this hotel has a policy that does not allow food or drink to be taken into the hotel under any circumstances. My six year old son had a small bottle of coke taken from him by the hotel manager,he was quite abusive and pointed out the large boards that are situated around the hotel. These boards inform visitors of their policies and other holiday makers had goods taken from them too.
Always take a large bag out to carry any shopping in, as they cannot search your personal belongings.
Be aware of the head barman, he watches as you come and go from the hotel, he also has his favourites, especially if you drink late at night at the bar....
The bar snacks were lovely and good value. The lads that worked behind the bar were friendly and polite, they were great with the children.
The room were cleaned every day and the cleaning ladies do a very good job, they were always friendly although their English is limited.

we were disapointed with this hotel, the 1st room they gave us was in the basement with a high wall for a view the room was filthy with cobwebs all over the place, the rep got us moved still in the basement but it was cleaner the shower door was hanging off and the toilet was broke which they fixed, we had to go down 2 flights of stairs and the lights didnt work which was very dangerous they where fixed on the last night of our stay, our room was only cleaned twice in the second week,we have stayed in a few hotels in hisaronu and this is definately the worst, the food was very good and the location was brilliant but the staff really couldnt care less wether you are enjoing your stay or not,we would never stay in this hotel again.

just got back from the destan we have stayed there for the past four years.Since employing a new manager the hotel has drastically gone downhill, the staff don't care the hotel is dirty and things falling to bits ie the curtains fell down twice the toilet was broke and the shelf for the shower was resting on the sink. The more we complained the more they went on the defense.I got the thomas cook manager to come to the hotel with me to try and sort out the problems, all he got was the manager would put signs up in the corridors to tell people not to bang the doors and that we would get a free courtesy room on the day we travelled home to shower ect.The outcome was there was no signs put up and the so called free courtesy room that we got the shower didn't work.It is my opinion and that of the others that was there with us that they don't care anymore and never again shall we stay at the destan

I had read reviews about this hotel before I booked and thought overall it would be good value for money, and I was right it was. Don't expect the world and you won't be disappointed.

At first I was upset that the young night porter could hardly speak English when he checked us in. I was tired and after I had slept on it I decided I was in Turkey after all, and felt more ashamed I couldn't say please or thank you in turkish!

The room was a decent size. We had a basement room, with a "garden view". This meant I didn't feel safe to leave the door open at night, however on this side of the hotel we didn't need to pay for air conditioning either (£4 per day) It was nice and cool.

The plus side to our room was the bed was to die for with a nice plump pillow. Our room was only cleaned twice, but to be fair we put out the "Do not Disturb" sign for 4 days!!! (late nights). Although when we asked for it to be cleaned later, which happens in other hotels they never got round to it.

The down side was the bathroom. After talking to other guests, we found out most of the showers leak really badly. We reported it and they were honest and said it would be a couple of days. In the end we just asked for extra towels for the floor which came.

We found the staff really helpful, and we received an alarm call that we had asked for. This was handed over from night to day, and was suggested to us by the manager veysi.(pronounced Vasi) They always acknowledged us.

We booked half board, and ate at the hotel three nights. We have visited Hisaronu before so wanted to eat out.(Half Board deal was a better price). The food was a set menu and was surprisingly very good. We found we also ate lunch because it was so good. Try the Steak Standwich (5YTL) Bacon Roll (5ytl) and the chips. Now I don't eat chips usually!
However, we didn't rate breakfast. It was typical turkish, bread, cheese, olives, eggs, and we only had it once but we got up late and had lunch instead.

Drinks are well priced Vodka and Coke and a large beer (10 Ytl) which is competetive. They don't like you bringing drinks from the supermarket Morison on the corner, but most people did. Fizzy drinks are a lot cheaper, but bottled water is a similar price to the shop.

You pay as you go in this hotel and so you don't have a bill at the end.

There is no entertainment, but the location is EXCELLENT! You do not hear the noise from the busy main street at all. It's spitting distance from the bars, restaurants and shops.

Opposite the hotel is a tour place called Carole and Tayfun. This is really good value, and although we didn't book with them if you go on their website before you depart you get 15% off trips and they are cheaper than booker there! Transfers are cheaper too, so i will book with them for the next one.

We are thinking about booking with this hotel again in September. I mentioned to Veysi that I didn't want a basement room, and he sad to email and they would make sure we didn't have that, but pointed out that we had booked late and the rooms were already booked. (We booked a two weeks before we went!)

Mixed reviews about this hotel, but overall I warmed to it and would stay again.

This was my second time staying at Destan, my first time was for 3 weeks last july/august and I have also booked another three weeks this july for me and my friends. The hotel is clean, especially the pool, bar, and poolside area. The food is lovely and the location is spot on! you couldn't ask for a better location, in the middle of everything but also away from the noise from the main clubs. The food is reasonably priced and very tasty. Most of the staff are brilliantly especially Imam and also Veysi whos the head of the bar, great personality and gets everyone involved! The cleaners are lovely, do not speak english but do their job very well so credit to them. The only fault about this hotel is the lack of entertainment, although I did not stay in the hotel of a night as most people go in to town but the restaurant food is lovely also. I would definately recommend this hotel if you are looking for a relaxed holiday, and want to spend alot of time around the pool!

Well, there have been so many reports on this hotel and i will shoot straigt from the hip.The Destan is a lovely hotel for swimming in (POOL is the main feature-it is beautiful and CLEAN,constantly being cleaned with fresh salt water minute by minute, and you do NOT get skin 'bugs'like from other hotels nearby!! Cleanliness was brilliant,if the linen only does get changed once a week!! That is bad.Hotel food-very good.Breakfast;continental as expected but superb variety and the eggs are too die for! Daytime snacks very good value and very tasty-Chip buttie for example was 3.5 YTL,around £1.40,SUPERB!!Hotel location is 5*,right off the centre of town activity and away from all the rowdy, buzzing nightclubs! The staff are appalling.Very rude, half of them do not speak English,no customer service at all, real attitude problems. Its a case of only speak when you are spoken to,basically.Veysi, who, works in the bar is the main man, very friendly, outgoing, full credit to him.Lovely man.Entertainment-forget it,just does not happen, only Sky Tv on big screen in bar.We would visit the hotel again, yes, but no guarantee of having a room in the 'new block'of course.:-(

Just got back from the Destan on Mon 16/7,I thought on the whole the hotel was very good value for money, could not really knock the breakfast typically turkish,my only gripe would be we didn't have any maid service for 4 days the second week, which meant the toilet bins were not being emptied and towels not changed. The rest of the hotel was kept very clean, the Hotel workforce are very young but are really good at what they do,the location of the hotel is right in the centre on the village.
2 swimming pools and bar that serves very good snacks all day £2/£4.Free pool table and table tennis table(bring your own gear)
I would definitely use this hotel again.

just got back from hols and what a great time we had! have to admit the room could have been cleaned as we only had the cleaner come once and that was to make the bed and leave towels, but i asked for towels every day at reception and got them no problem. cleaner made me giggle cuz i asked her for clean towels and a sheet, she returned with the towels and a toilet roll so i can only presume she thought i was requesting a sh*t!! we did laugh..hotel staff you cannot fault..all the barstaff are nuts and had everyone dancing. my kids absolutely loved it..veysi and his sidekicks in the bar are legends, funky dancers and crazy funny guys. they made us feel so welcome, especially as i'm a single mum on hols just with my 16 and 12 yr old kids..great great fun, definitely going back and have invited them here if ever they are in rainy england..my son has kept in touch with em..

It was my first trip to Turkey. I could not believe how lovely the hotel destan was. All the staff was excellent and very helpful and extremely friendly.

The cleaners came in the room every day and new towels and bedding was issued. towels were displayed into fantastic displays of swans etc.

Breakfast was a traditional turkish breakfast basic but enjoyable. Rnglish breakfast could be purchased at a very reasonable price.

The snacks at the pool were tasty and cheap. The evening meals were a credit to the chef. The turkish night was well worth the £10.00 there was entertainment with latin dancers and be bop dancers and the food was turkish mezzes along with a wide variety of meat.

The location of the hotel is excellent just 2 minutes from the centre. I enjoyed the holiday that much we have booked to go again in september at the destan hotel.

Have just returned from hotel Destan, stayed on B&B basis.

Breakfast very basic only used once, was very disappointed as have been B&B in other hotels in hisaronu and these were more value for money.

We had two rooms 1st accommodated 2 adults, plenty of room, storage adequate, nice balcony. Bathroom ok although shower quite dangerous if you had mobility problems. 2nd room accommodated 3 adults space very inadequate and very limited storage space. Dissapointed at room cleaning as only had linen changed twice in 2weeks and had to ask for new towels. Cleaners would come at around 9.00am having 17yr old this was not convenient as they had virtually just got into bed.

Hotel location was fine just a few minutes walk away from main club area.

Most staff were ok but a few need to learn about customer services.

Entertainment poor.

The breakfast was very basic, and on speaking to other people in accommodation in the same area with the same number of stars it was shocking how lacking ours was.

We never had hot water for drinks, or for showers for that matter. There were parts of our room that were never cleaned. We were moved from one room to another, and did not get new towels in the new room. They frequently took our towels away and did not replace them. It was very cold at night, and our air conditioning unit which was supposed to blow hot air but didn't, it took 2 days to get a second blanket. After numerous complaints about the air conditioner it was never fixed.

The staff were brilliant and fun, but nothing ever got done to fix things.

We've just come back from Turkey and had a fantastic time. Hotel Destan is a lovely hotel and is situated about a minute from the main street in Hisaronu. I have read the 2 other reviews about the hotel and toally agree with the first one.

The second however I thought was terrible. Going on about ripped towels and the staff not being friendly. The staff are extremely friendly and will go out of their way to meet your needs. Veisey who runs the pool bar is a really good laugh and it's him people come back to see.

As for the towels being ripped, that isn't true at all. I think we had one or two towels in the whole two weeks that maybe had a bit of a frayed edge or something, apart from that they were fine. At the end of the day, they're just towels, as long as they're clean and dry it doesn't matter.

Also we had a Turkish night that Destan arranged and it was a fantastic night. They even had me up belly dancing and shaking my bum!!

Overall, Destan is a lovely hotel and hopefully we will be going back next year. The pool is gorgeous (shaped like a guitar)and the people are lovely.

A highly recommended place to stay with the town centre literally seconds away.

We stayed in the Destan for the second year running. When we visited in 2003 the hotel was excellent, the service was very personal. Unfortunately this year our experience was quite different. The staff are still very pleasant but there seems to be a preference towards guests who have booked through a travel agent. Me and my husband booked indpendently and the standard of cleanliness in the room was very poor, we had ripped dirty towels (when we had them which was infrequent)and the room had furniture and bedding obviously missing. The hotel has lost its personal touch that made it so appealing to us last year, this seems to be because of the introduction of tour company guests. This may be due to teething problems as they have not been used to high volume occupancy before but unfortunately we will not return.

The Destan Hotel is Located just off the main street in Hisaronu. It has a large swimming pool ,sauna, jacuuzi, fitness equipment, table tennis and table football. The staff are very frendly and the food is excellent. The hotel has its own restaraunt and it is very nice. The rooms are pleseant with a large bedroom and a bathroom with a balcony or terrace. The hotel itself is situated where there are 5 or 6 quiet bars nearby that are off the main street and have english owners and free pool tables. All in all it was a very enjoyable holiday in the hotel and I would definately go back there again.
