Just back from Hotel Baba two days ago.Stayed for a week from the 10 Aug 2008 to the 17h aug 2008
Left Glasgow Airport around 8:30 due to a delay of the the Stairs stuck to the aircraft door.
Arrived at around 2:00am Turkish Time then got a coach and a mini-bus to the Hotel.
When we arrived at the hotel we found it to be in a very good area, and the reception was very spacious and clean.
Reception staff not as helpful, We found that the man at reception didnt take into mind that we were Scottish and he was talking in a very fast Turkish/English tone, Couldnt understand a word he said, A very helpful member of staff took our cases to our room ((Just down stairs from the pool)) we found the air conditioning first class and not a bad price, the room cleanliness was amazing and the balcony faced another hotel and a good view of the beach !
Breakfast is served at 8:30am till 9:30am breakfast wasnt bad but always the same thing. the resteraunt faced the beach and that was one of the best things about our stay, pool was very vast and sunbeds were all over the place so no-one didnt have one.
The pool was very clean and the pool manager checked the pools numerous amounts of times which made us feel very safe. The pool was 6ft at one end and about 3ft at the other end there was also a kids pool about 2ft deep. Snack bar very friendly and always up for a laugh no matter how tired they are. the Karaoke bar staff also very friendly and didnt bother us one bit. Upon leaving we rented the room out untill 8:00pm for only £10 ((20 Lira))and checkout was very easy.

I would deinatly go back to this hotel. ! and reccomend it too anyone.

Well after reading the reviews I was looking forward to going to the Baba. My family and I have travelled extensively and have visited numerous other resorts in turkey itself.

The Hotel is diabolical, an utter hole! The rooms are the equivalent to coffins or dungeons was the description of the rooms around the pool with guests moving rooms numerous times including us to escape the sheer noise from the main street which can be heard in the pool side rooms till 4/5am, then they all congregate around the pool till 6/6.30am - still drinking and being noisy....not on when your trying to sleep or have kids etc..but then thats when your alarm goes off - yes you have to set your alarm to get up to reserve your sunbed and umbrella - thats if you can get one, the funniest was when the guests started to go out and buy them as other guests started to steal them as soon as you went to the loo or complain to the rep or reception!

The bar staff are ignorant putting it mildly and short changed numerous guests and over priced them, If you don't book the weekly entertainment of a pool party then they ignore you! One lady whom spoke Turkish overheard them calling the other guests in Turkish, she pulled them up over this and gave a piece of her mind in Turkish - they didn't like this!

The reception staff are very nice so long as you don't actually want them to do anything, then they become pretty useless, but are polite unlike the pool bar staff.

The hotel restaurant food is lovely and the staff are very nice and cannot do enough for you and are simply wasted in the hole of the baba.

The brochure did not mention flights of stairs when I booked it, there are huge flights to navigate to get from reception to rooms or the pool at least 35 stairs, made of marble - fantastic with everyone going up and down dripping wet from the pool - there were numerous accidents involving guests - adults and children falling down the stairs. Hideous for pushchairs or wheelchairs as they have to leave the hotel from the beach side entrance and push the pushchairs up hill around the block to the reception!!

The pool area is lethal as it is raised with no barriers with a 2 foot drop off the side - not great for little kids, neither was the constant broken glass that the pool bar staff hardly ever cleaned up, and when they did it was left so numerous adults and kids had cut feet, one girl ended up in hospital with an operation due to glass and infection!

Basically non of the staff give a hoot what happens or how unhappy the guests are.

Next year it is twenty's and escapades (18-30) which is more or less what the baba is. It is not for families at all and the biggest dump I have ever been to.

Avoid at all costs, save your time by booking else where as many were requesting hotel changes and they charge more for that!

hotel baba is in prime location, but however food is not good at all not bad if you like scramble eggs other than dont even try other food as you will send back. As for pool side bar, make sure you give them the correct amount of money as change is none existent due to them having no change (right).Daytime entertainment does nt exist only swimming so if you are marine boy or man from antlantis you will be ok but watch out for the clorine levels they are at danger point.Don t be fooled in getting a saftey deposit box £20.00 2weeks they are not safe as we had money taken from them without us knowing.Me and my wife have been coming to Gumbet for the past 6years and i can safely say this year was the worst due to Hotel baba, thanks for that one Baba.............

The Baba is in the best spot, right on the beach and in the centre of Gumbet. It is cleaned everyday and the pool area and reception are very clean and tidy too. The rooms are abit dated and the balconys not big enough to sit out on but we new this before we went so it didnt bother us, but if you like spending time on your balcony on holiday this isnt the hotel for you. The location really couldnt be any better, one side was on the beach and there were lots of bars and restaurants on the front, the other side of the hotel was right into the centre of Gumbet with lots of bars, restaurants, shops. We only stayed a week which wasnt long enough to see everything and there were too many bars and restaurants we couldnt go to, we want to book again for next year but for 2weeks! I cant really score the hotels entertainment as the only entertainment they did was a pool party every thursday but we were going home eraly hours friday morning so couldnt go. All in all we cant fault our holiday and we absolutely loved it!

If your going to Gumbet then this is without doubt the best hotel to stay in.
The reasons for this are very simple to understand.
When you go on a holiday in my opinion you need:

Location
Quiet at night
Clean
Good pool
Friendly

The baba has all of the best points and more.
READ ON FOR MORE INFO.

The baba is on the lower end of bar street so noise is minimal, your on the beach so nothing to complain about there.
There is a supermarket next to reception and lots of little shops, bars and restaurants to keep you occupied.

The hotel staff are all very friendly and try to do anything you want.

Gem works on the pool bar and is very funny and makes the hotel pool the place to be if you wanna have a laugh.

The location is perfect as you only need walk 10 minutes to anywhere in Gumbet from the babas location.

It was actually a camping site in the 70s

The linen is changed everyday by very hardworking staff.

GET THE AIRCON your going to need it........

The only reason I give food a two star is due to the breakfast being the same everday but in my opinion who needs it we only paid £300 for our two week holiday and so we were not to bothered by breakfast.

OH! There is a black dog called Poppy who roams around at breakfast she pratically lives there and she is the most sweetest dog so please feed her she is a stray but has taken up baba as her home. She will follow you and sleep in your rooms just make sure she has her drink of water in the empty ashtrays.

The rooms were basic but very clean and comfortable to sleep and get changed in.

I would defentily recommend investing in the Air con which has to be paid for sepretaly but well worth the money with temp. reaching 45+ degrees in the day.

Breakfast was average ranging from cereal to cooked and all the other usual contiental ham & cheeses. The food that could be purchased at the pool bar or the other restaurants were of very good choice and standard.

The location of the hotel was excellent, right on the beach and as close to the bars as you could wish for but noise was not an issue.

The hotel staff were very friendly and spoke very good english.

Would deffiently be visiting this hotel again if not this year next year.

Just returned from a week at the Baba. My husband and I have done quite a lot of travelling, but the stay at the Baba was one of our best holidays. There is absolutely nothing that we can complain about. The Baba is very central, out through 1 door is the beach, and out through the other is bar street, with many bars and restaurants. I wouldn't recommend the show "Dreamgirls", drag comedy, or if you decided to go, I would eat before hand. The food during the show was chicken and chips, which was quite tasty, but you literally had 5 chips. My husband and I were still hungry afterwards. I would definately recommend the 1 day boat trip with the Baba. The whole day was fab, the food provided was delicious, and plenty of sunbathing and swimming time. We stopped off at camel beach, and were able to do some water sports before setting off again. The hotel brekfast had plenty of choice, from bread, cheese, olives e.t.c to sausage, scrambled egg, beans, toast e.t.c. The apartment is cleaned on a daily basis, and fresh towels provided. We will definately be returning to Baba hotel some day.

Just returned from a great stay at the Hotel Baba. On arrival my daughter was a little disappointed at its appearance from the outside but don't be put off. Although a lick of paint would be most welcome it's clean and very friendly. The rooms are a bit on the small side but suited our needs as a family of three. There's a large pool and plenty of sun beds and its ideal location on the beach makes the Hotel Baba a desirable choice. We stayed half board and thought the food was excellent especially the evening meal. However, the hotel entertainment is very poor only stretching to the odd game of bingo.

The Baba boat trip is definitely a must and value for money since it included lunch, afternoon tea and a courtesy drink from the Hotel on return.

My only disappointment was the courtesy room on departure. Having been told that we could have use of a room to shower before leaving we decided not to keep our own room on. However, to our horror we were taken to a dark and dingy shower room in the basement. My advice would be to pay the £10 to keep your room if you need to.

On the whole, we enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Baba and would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of going to Gumbet.

This is the best place ever!!! I have been 4 times, and will be returning in October to celebrate my birthday. I take my kids to hotel baba, it is safe and staff very friendly!!

I can't stop going back totally addicted to bar street and the friendliness of the Turkish people.

The rooms are basic, but clean, the plumbing hilarious but always hot water.

I love this hotel for its central location right on the beach. And always go on one of roys boat trips, excellent value for money and a fantastic day out...I have never succumbed to a Turkish bath, but one day!!!!

Never find time, way 2 busy enjoying myself there......I recommend this place to every one I meet... and always cry when its time to go home....

I have just returned from the Baba hotel with my friends and their families. The rooms are cleaned daily, and towels are changed three times a week, but you can get clean towels if you ask. The food was fine at breakfast... bread rolls, eggs, cheese, olives, tomatoes, cucumber, etc. The location of the hotel is superb! The beach and beach restaurants are directly at the back of the hotel. There are also many great bars and restaurants at the front of the hotel. The staff at the hotel are the friendliest I have met. The entertainment was not so good, bingo once a week and also a pool party. I would definitely visit this hotel again.

Hotel Baba has some great staff which is of benefit as they have to make up for a lack of child/youth entertainment.

Shorty and Wes at the pool bar were great.

The hotel is basic but very clean. Soft drinks are too expensive and having 3 boys with us the bills soon mounted up. This isn't limited to the hotel though.

Ibrahim offers a great Turkish bath and Roy will arrange a couple of very relaxing boat trips (don't use the rep as Roy is much cheaper) This hotel is a great base for Young adults who like clubbing or adults with young children (the pool is great) but kids between 12 - 16 will struggle for entertainment.

I would visit again but not with my kids, this is definitely an adult base, older kids will be bored very quickly.

I would recommend this holiday to anyone and hope to see all the staff there again. The night life was very lively and if your a clubber look no further this is your place.

The food was fantastic as this was my first time abroad and loved every minute. Baba hotel is the best!!!

I love this hotel, love the pool bar, disco bar and the golf bar, and the guests return year after year. See you soon hotel Baba, jules, di n the gang!xxxx

Our hotel was great. It is right on the beach front and there were lots of sunbeds either around the pool or on the beach.

The pool area is fantastic - great for our children but also good for adults who just wanted to have a swim. Our rooms were cleaned everyday with fresh towels. The beds were uncomfortable but normally are when you are on holiday.

Paid extra for a balcony but it was the size of a step with wrought iron fence around it. You could stand on it but couldn't sit down - not worth the money. Pay extra for air conditioning - thats definately worth it. Turkish bath at the hotel was wonderful.

The boat trip with Roy was great - he will find you on the first day - my advise just book it and then he will leave you alone. Brilliant holiday

This hotel is the best ever, the location is right on the beach with no road to cross to get to the sea.

The staff are very helpful and friendly, especially the bar staff who were always willing to dance for the children.

Breakfast was very basic the normal salami, eggs, olives, bread, sausages, and jam, although they have a great lunch time menu available all day around the pool.

We ate at the hotel in the evening a few times and there was a really good selection to choose from, my husband and I requested that we sat outside to eat and the waiters even took a table and chairs on to the beach for us, it was really lovely feeling the sand between your toes!!

The entertainmenment was good, great kareoke, also the hotel has a boat which is an absolute must, it cost us about 30 quid for 4 adults and 2 kids, which included lunch, mud bath, complementary drinks, and a stop off at camel island, the boat trip lasted all day and was fantastic.

The most considerate thing about this hotel was the childrens drinks, if you went to the bar a coke would cost you about £1, but the hotel has a shop at the entrance and you could buy 2 litre bottles for £1. We were told by the staff to save our money and go to the shop, when we came back they gave the kids glasses and straws and even put the bottle of coke in an ice bucket for them, {not that we're tight fisted but it saved us a fortune over the 2 weeks!!}

We had a fantastic holiday and are going back in 7 weeks time. And I forgot to mention about about the weather, it was absolutely glorious. Enjoy your stay!

The hotel is one of the 1st hotels in Gumbet, the food is first class, well served and presented. The staff are so attentative to your needs, nothing is too much bother for them. Where else can you have an on the beach resturant, your table on the sand with wave lapping at your feet. The pool is excellent, cleaned daily, no lager louts. The turkish bath in the hotel is fantastic, don't listen to your rep, they will charge twice as much for half the quality, this bath is a one on one and not a group.

Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Spoke English very well and helped us to our rooms, carrying luggage etc.

Rooms, clean, bright and comfortable.

Situation of the hotel frontage perfect. On the beach front was the restaurant and beautiful views over the bay. Taxis easily come by out side the hotel and a feeling of safety was made by the security people at the front and back of the hotel.

Pool side very comfortable with plenty of loungers and snack bar as well as pool side bar. Very secure for children and nighttime entertainment, although fairly good, was not so loud as you could not sleep. All in all an excellent place to stay.

We stayed in the Baba Hotel the first two weeks of September. We really enjoyed our stay. When we arrived we were shown to our room which looked really cosy, thats probably because it was 5.30am by the time we arrived.
The next day the room didnt look quite as nice. Really basic. But ok. Could really be doing with a make over, but we were only in the rooms to change and sleep. They were cleaned every day, fresh towels and bed linen changed everyday.
The breakfast was excellent. You could have had any amount of fresh bread which there were different kinds, boiled eggs, beans, sausage, cheese, fresh fruit and olives. Really was nice.
We never ate in the Hotel's restaurant at night because there so many nice places to eat.
The hotel boasts that it has a crazy golf but it wasnt up to much.
The pool was very clean and the staff were great.
I have to mention the Turkish Bath that they had at the Hotel.
The morning that we arrived our Tourist Rep advised us that the Turkish Bath she was organising was far surperior to that of the hotel's. Therefore we booked it with her. We thought it was fantastic.
However on our last day we had to be out of our hotel for 12.00pm and were not getting collected to go home until 1.45am the following morning so we decided that we would get a Turkish Bath at the Hotel at about 8pm that night so we would be fresh going home. It was the most fantastic thing in the world. The guy really took his time with us. This will be the last time i will listen to the Tourist Rep. because all they are is sales people.
I would recoomend this hotel if you dont mind not having the luxury you have at home when your on holiday.

My friend and I stayed at the hotel for our summer break. The hotel was brilliant, very central and easy accesible to the beach!!!

The staff were fab, very friendly and helpfull.

The only thing that we could complain about was the bathroom which had a dodgy shower. You needed a canoe after a shower to leave the bathroom!! But that was nothing, it was a great hotel with brilliant facillities.

Our tour rep was so helpful and friendly.

We travel alot and were very pleased with the hotel. If we went back to that region we would go back to this hotel.

Overall a great holiday experience and advise anyone to go to BABA hotel

This hotel was the best I've stayed in. It was very clean and the staff were really friendly.

The location is very good whether you want, night life or not it has something there for everyone.

The food was nice but the same all the time.

The entertainment was good especially on a Wednesday night when they had a male belly dancer.(Really good).

The air conditioning is a must at £2.00 a day you can't go wrong. The rooms are very basic but that's all you need really. The only downfall was the balcony there is only room for 1 person to stand on it. So if you like sitting out on your balcony you won't like that.

I would most definitely go back to the Baba.

We were greeted by a warm and friendly welcome at the reception and shown straight to our room.

The room itself was basic containing bed, sofa, bedside cabinet, wardrobe and hairdryer. The bathroom contained a bath/shower, washbasin and toilet; there was also a shaving socket. Our room was on the ground floor and had a good-sized terrace. Rooms on the first floor had small balconies but there is only room for one person to stand on. The rooms are cleaned every day and towels changed every other day

The hotels location is excellent, the front being directly on to bar street and the rear on the beach. The pool is an excellent size, never seems to get overcrowded, regardless of how many people there were around it. Sun beds at the pool were usually available at most times and if they were full you could go on to the beach, either way they were free. The staff at the pool bar were pleasant and friendly as are the rest of the staff throughout the hotel. Snacks are also available at the pool bar.

The hotel has its own Turkish bath and is well worth a visit at 15 million TL, which includes a sauna, jacuzzi and soap massage. There is also a barber on site but found this was not the best shave I have ever had.

Air conditioning is available at £2 per day and is worth every penny. There are safety deposit boxes in reception, which is staffed 24 hours and costs £5 per week.

We stayed B&B and although the breakfasts are typically Turkish they were quite enjoyable. We ate in the hotel restaurant on three occasions and found the meals excellent.

Overall we could not fault the hotel as it is in a prime position for all amenities and is kept spotlessly clean by the excellent staff.

Best holiday we have ever had! Hotel could not be better placed for both beach, town/night life.

If you arrive in the middle of the night don't be disheartned when you hear the disco's booming out as the hotel is on tiered levels. We were down near the pool and never heard a thing.

Food was excellent both breakfast (their bread rolls were gorgeous freshly baked and served warm)to their good selection of evening meals.

The staff were excellent and I can see now why they have all worked in this hotel for many years.

Rooms although small with no balcony were cleaned daily and all staff took a pride in their work.

Sunbeds all had a mattresses that were washed daily. This made sunbathing so much more comfortable.

Many of the guests were saying they had been many times to the hotel and usually book again before leaving for the following year.

Only entertainment on a Wednesday night but there is so much to do and see on the beach front,in town or in Bodrum that you didn't really notice there wasn't any.

Even the reps were happy - they spoke to everyone regardless is you belonged to their company or not and were also willing to help you if a situation arose.

Happy Holiday to anyone about to go there - wish I was going to.

This was our graduation holiday and it was our first visit to Turkey. It was the best holiday I've ever had!!!!!
The hotel was in the best location possible and everyone we met was so friendly, especially the staff of Hotel Baba and they made sure we were happy + having fun at all times.

The rooms were very clean as they were cleaned every day, the only complaint I have is that they were a little small. On our 4th day we went on the boat trip with SuperAli and I'd definately recommend it!!!

OMG!!!!!!!! the best holiday ever!!!!!! we came here last year as well and will be visiting it for the rest of my life!!! The hotel is in the best location ever, right on the beach and in the centre of all the clubs scene though no noise is heard in the hotel rooms. The food is nice, the entertainment is brill, and the choice of onsite bars is excellent.
The staff are the friendlist people in the world all of them are so lovely and helpful, making the holiday extremely special, it wouldn't be the same without them!!!!!

This is the best hotel you could wish to go to..the staff are so friendly, The hotel location is just right its not loud with in the grounds of a nite as it has resraunts directly opposite then within a 5 minute walk you have numerous pubs which cater for all age groups as does the hotel facilities..Also the beach is right infront of the hotel and you dont have to pay to use the sun loungers....the hotel is very safe as they have personal security to make sure people arn't entering the grounds who should be. Also the have lots of activities such as pedalos, snooker, pool tables and the boat trips are great the staff who run theese are very fun...well youv'e got to go there to realise just how good it is...were going back again this year can't wait!!!! We have visited this hotel 3 times now and without doubt we will be booking to go back again soon!

Ideally located for everything that Gumbet has to offer, directly on the beach with a lovely promenade to walk off the great Turkish food!

We went as a group of couples all in our late 20's although we made friends with people of all ages staying at the hotel.

Excellent pool area and pool bar where the staff will keep you entertained all day.

Went on a boat trip (not booked with the rep but booked with one of the guys who hand out leaflets on the beach), actually worked out cheaper! Highly recommend the Cafe Colombo, meals are great, sometimes may have to wait for a table but definitely worth the wait. Great for buying all you fake designer bags/ purses etc, practice on your haggling skills as they expect it!

Went to a show called "Talk of the Town", good for a night out, was a drag comedy bar / show!
