| said: The Kolios has a superb location facing the sea about 50 yards away. The upper floors have views across the bay. It was clean and well serviced apart from the utensils which were a bit tired (end of season?)
There could be a problem with noise from the bar and restaurant between the beach and the acccommodation in the high season. There was a some traffic noise from the main road immediately to the rear of the building but this would not deter another visit by us.
The beach is sandy and would suit children.
The pool was in need of some attention but that may be because it was the end of the season when we stayed.
The accommodation is conveniently situated for buses, with stops nearby for either direction - Koukanaries or Skiathos Town. A hire car is not necessary unless you want to go off the beaten track.
There is a small supermarket attached to the building where most essentials can be purchased. More shops and tavernas are a 10-15 minute walk along the main road towards Platinias.

| said: The 2 bed studio was spacious, very clean and well furnished with a balcony giving superb views. When we had a 'drain' problem the staff appeared within minutes to sort it out. I think the shower was probably installed by the Ancient Greeks but it worked! The reasons we would not return just yet:
1) No mosquito screen - so either sleep with balcony door closed and cook or risk the dreaded biters - and boy did they bite - I had to go to the Health Centre -I am sure Skiathos would go bankrupt without this profitable insect, judging by the number of products on sale to repel them - trust me - they don't work!!
2) No air conditioning or even a ceiling fan - so we dreaded the nights when we melted, covered in an oil slick of mozzy repellent and enshrouded in our sheets to try to keep the blighters off!
3) Just two white plastic chairs to sit on, on the balcony - something comfortable would make all the difference.
A small outlay to cover these aspects would make so much difference because the location is fantastic.
