| said: Myself and partner got this really cheap and were a bit dubious about it before arrival but it was great! we stayed in October 08 and they were three other appartments occupied, it was like having your personal pool all week! The staff are friendly (although don't work at the weekends) and the Pool Bar was run by an English fella that was great fun with tasty food. Clean, very tidy. A lot more spacious than some 3 stars I've stayed in before. Friends of ours arrived the next day and were able to stay in the appartment next door without issues. Good sized pool and clean. Has a ground floor. No issue with noise etc but it was off season but over all a really nice place to stay for the money and would definatley go back again.

| said: The Luz Y Mar was everything we expected! We had a ground floor room and it was right at the pool side. It a basic resort but by far the best one i have been to in years. Our neighbours were great which made our week away amazing! The pool is very clean and when its a hot day its the best thing in the world to jump into! Its about a 5min walk from the old town and new town.

| said: We stayed in a first floor apartment overlooking the pool area, it was adaquately furnished with a kettle, microwave, toaster, fridge and cooking utensils. There was enough cutlery and crockery for 3 people, which was the maximum sleeping capacity.
We found the staff helpful and efficient, when we reported a safety problem it was fixed immediately. Maid service was good (came in 3 times in the week) although they left the door to the terrace open on one visit when I had locked and checked it.
The complex can be noisey as the doors seem to stick and close with a bang, but this seems to be normal for a holiday complex. There are 2 supermarcados near to the complex, and the usual rubbish bins outside. Clearing rubbish daily means that we had no troubles with bugs etc.
We used it as a base for diving and chill out time, MA Diving is just up the road and we found an excellent Spa in Playa Blanca check out www.lanzarotehealth.com to see what I mean.
Had a really great time, would recommend to anyone as it is very good value for money - bear in mind its rating is 2 keys, so it is not 5 star. Also it is very close to the main town so you can walk there, and it only costs 2 euros to have a taxi home.

Staff very friendly , The pool was on your doorstep,Great location to old town and new town, Shops and Bars.
We enjoyed it so much we have booked to go back again.

| said: Stayed here for 1 week, generally kept tidy rooms cleaned twice a week, never saw anybody cleaning outside areas.
Location is good 2 supermarkets right outside, 10 minites walk to both old town and commercial areas, with a few good bars/restatuant just out side appartments.
Beware of thieves in the week we stayed a group of lads were stolen from and someone tried to enter our room, no one patrols the complex at night.
Two good pools to use and good sun traps to get your tan, would return to stay if nothing else was available, but would be on gaurd for thieves.

| said: This is a lovely little complex with a clean pool right outside your front door. although i found it a little disappointing that the shallow end was still too deep for kiddies. i am 5ft and it was up to my shoulders. just glad i never took my 5 year old with me. he wouldnt have been able to use the pool without myself accompanying him in there.
I would just like everyone to pay particular attention to the security of the complex. While we visited there was a robbery next door to our appartment. The apartment has a back door onto a back street. This seems to attract passersby.
We had to sleep with the sofa across the front door and chairs across the back so we would hear somebody trying to get in if we were sleeping. When speaking to holiday makers who had been there a week longer than us, they said these apartments had been burgled 3 times whilist they were there.
There was nobody patroling the complex at all throughout the night. It was worrying. If you stay there, Be on your guard !!!!!!!!! The same culprits are responsible for all the robberies, just ask the locals. they are well known in that area and nobody is doing anything about them. I wouldnt go back to this complex. take this as a warning. Good luck

| said: I must admit after reading some of these comments before going on holiday I was a little worried as to what to expect however I have to say I had a fantastic time!
My partner and I stayed in the Mar annex and my friend and her partner were in the Luz. Both apartments were basic but very clean, however my friend did have a little problem with ants on the first couple of days (probably due to the vast amount of greenery around the Luz apartments). Both pools were cleaned every night and were great little sun traps!
The apartments are in quite a good location being very close to the old town and quite close to the main resort. There is a netto right next door, a local supermarket across the road and a spar just down the road. There are also a couple of nice little restaurants right at the front of the Luz apartments.
To get to the main resort make sure you find out where the steps are at the back of the apartments. They cut the walking distance in half but are not suitable for people in wheelchairs or with buggies.
I would definatly recommened these apartments to anyone. If nothing else they kept me fit walking up the steps everyday! ha ha

| said: Well we were in the luz part of the hotel and it was very clean .When we arrived i was very suprised at this hotel as it was only a 2 ** hotel . In the morning i would need to get up early to go and get the sunbeds as they were all gone . I was scared incase i seen any cockroaches but suprisengly i only seen a couple!!!! The pool area was very slippery a i got a bump on my leg so watch out .The pool was very clean but has got to much chlorine in it . There is also a pool snack bar so if you get hungry through the day then go because it is very nice!!!! Iwould defenetly recommend th spanish restuarant right outside this hotel ITS LOVELY!!!!!!!!! I never really went to the mar so i cant really review it!! I would also reccomend you to lock all doors during the night and windows as burgulars come round and steel!!! Also take all laundry in as they even steel this!!!!!! Overall i had a great holiday and would defently without a doubt visit this accomadation again!!!!!!!!! And hope the readers do to!!!!

| said: If you go to luz y mar apartments make sure the security is up to standard.The first 10 days i was there i saw no security at all.Unfortunately we found 2 thieves in the apartment during the night as we slept.They even had the cheek to come back for more that same night...The reception staff are never there
so we had to get a local pub to phone the police as our phone got stolen.Once i complained about security they had the pool cleaner and his mate on once every hour,if you book with first choice make sure you get a decent rep. as ours didnt show any concerm whatsoever.My tip is if you go to lanzarote avoid these apartments at all cost.......

| said: We have just returned from a week at the luz y mar and found it ok.We booked the holiday not knowing were we were going so were glad to find a place near the main resort.The rooms are very basic but clean,the maid came twice in the week.There is a tv that eats money and if you want to keep the 2 single beds together to stop them sliding apart better remember to pack a tool kit.As we were self catering we didnt spend much time worrying about the hotels entertainment but from what we saw there wasn,t any.Also it wouldnt go a miss for a smile from the cleaners as they look as if they realy dont want to be there and have no respect for your belongings.Apart from that had a good week and would return again.

| said: Just had a great week here, no problems with the accommodation at all, the room was cleaned twice a week & the pool was nice and clean too, we had a pool side room in the Luz appartments and thoroughly enjoyed being able to take regular dips at very short notice, I didn't look round the Mar appartments so can't really comment on them but the Luz looked like it had a better layout and pool area. The walk to the beach/harbour was easy on the way down 15mins at a five year olds pace and 20 on the way back up the hill, but the benifits of this was complete silence at night time as you're just outside the very busy town centre.

| said: Just got back from a brilliant 2 week holiday staying at the luz y mar. All i can say is that if you read previous negative reviews from the last few years, TAKE NO NOTICE. It has been refurbished and me my, missus and the kids had a great time. The pool was very clean & great fun, the rooms were basic but had everything you could need, and theres a pool side bar serving food and beer. How can people moan about cochroaches, i mean come on, we are in a foreign country, there is nothing you can do about that im afraid, and yes the apartment is on a hill, (we had 2 little kids with us and they didnt moan once) if you dont like it, then get a taxi, it will only cost u about £2.50 in our money to the main centre, all in all a great stay at the luz y mar and i would go there again in a second.

| said: I first must compliment the receptionist for her help she was very professional and friendly however. I would have hated to see this complex before renovation, We were infested with cockroaches, the apartment stank of stale water we had to be moved after a week due to waking to find a cockroach crawling on my baby daughters head.Only provided with a 2 ring hob you had to rent everything else. There was NO entertainment which we were not told about prior to boooking. If you were on your porch having a drink after 10pm the Germans in the private apatments attached to these called the police out which put a dampner on the whole holiday, Nothing for kids! Excursions well over priced the walk back from town was a killer due to cardiac hill. NOT GOOD!!!!!

| said: The Luz Y Mar apartments have been given bad ratings on some sites on the net with people advising not to stay here. My friends and I stayed there very recently and thought they were excellent. They have recently been refurbished and are basic, yet contain everything you could need for your holiday. They were very clean and just a walk away from the beach, restaraunts, bars and clubs as well as situated right beside two small supermarkets. I would definately advise people against past ratings on other sites as they were most probably posted before the apartments were refurbished at the end of last year. Overall we had a brilliant holiday and a fantastic stay here.
