| said: We stayed for a week at the Govino Bay Hotel. The apartments were in excellent repair if a little spartan. The cleaners were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble for them and they were friendly and very efficient. The pool bar was good, the food was also good and we found the staff very friendly and accomodating. The bar advertises itself as being open until 1am although if you go there after 11.30pm you are likely to find it shut!
The pool is very good although you are not permitted to dive despite the deep end being nearly 3 metres deep. The floor of the pool is tiled in the shallow end and those who are nervous or poor swimmers may find this off putting.

| said: The apartments are very clean and well looked after. The maids are very friendly and always do a good job of keeping your room tidy.Rooms get cleanded 6 times a week.
The kitchen area is ok.It has got a microwave and 2 hobs but thats it.There is no oven and you have to hire a toaster if you want one.
To pool is a very good size and cleaned daily.Beware of the life guard as she doesn't allow splashing/diving messing about or inflateable's in the pool. The sea is right next to the pool although there isn't and sand on the beach,it's just a mixture between cobbles and grass and the odd bit of sand.
There are lovley tavernas uup the road which are about a 5-10 minute walk away.I wold definately roccomend aries as the food is gorgeous and the waiters even do traditional greek dancing(they are very good!!)
We hired a car so we could get around the island. We drove to the water park (twice) and it was amazing it is huge and even when its busy you can't tell because its that big.We also explored a few beaches like Dasia,Paleokastritsa and Glyfafa. However Glyfada gets extremely busy by 2 o'clock.
Overall a very good holiday and would reccomend it to anyone who likes Greece!

| said: First of all I must say that the location of the apartments were ideal. As a group of 10 18 yr old friends we were lookin for a good mix of relaxation and clubbing/partying. The bay in which the apartments are situated is within another bay itself which means it is safe, secluded and very private. However just a ten minute walk from the apartments is Gouvia town in which there are plenty of varied restaurants/bars/clubs catering for everyones needs of all ages and tastes.
The pool is a nice size, although it must be said we went during school time so whether it gets busier is something I cannot comment on. It must be noted that pool rules in Greece state that no ball games/inflatables/rough play can take place otherwise you feel the rath of the lifeguard! But the sea is literally a minute walk from the pool so anything rulebreaking can take place in the sea!! One thing about the sea is that it can be a bit...'slimey' is the only way I can put it as you get in but is lovely once you are there.
As far as staff go the bar lady at the pool bar finds it hard to smile regularly but does her job. However i must say I was very impressed with the maid service. They came 6 out of our 7 days and replaces towels and sheets every time. They tidied all the floor space and clean all surfaces so overall a very good job and we tried to tip them as best we could. There is no on-resort entertainment but, like I said, the restaurants and clubs and bars near by are very good.
We were self catering and so bought all our food from near by shops which seemed quite good value. There is also a shop on site which offers all the essentials.
To summarise I must emphasise that you do not get many places that have a pool, the sea, and a town so near by at the price that you can get these apartments, a real find!!

| said: Pleasantly surprised by the standard of the apartment, spacious and clean with a quiet and cool atmosphere. Usual problems with insects but the gardens were very well-kept and beautiful.
Maid service was excellent although the floors were not washed every day. The bed on the mezzanine floor was not changed for the duration of our stay.
Pool bar was a little lost in time, and although the pool was stunning and the sunning area very pleasant, we found the bar staff a little cold and slow. Especially the lifeguard who was over zealous with maintaining the rules, unprecedented in our previous visits to the Greek islands. "Don't swim too fast!!!"
Manager was always ready to help but a little deferent with organising trips around the island.

| said: great apartments, pity about the lifeguard, no-one able to have fun in the pool with balls or lilos until 5pm when she goes off duty, apparantly the law in greece, have been to lots of greek islands and never heard that one before. very slow service in pool snack bar. maids were great though. lovely gardens with plenty of sunbeds so you can sit in the shade under the trees, as no umbrellas or shade round the pool. We hired a car and toured the island so not really at the complex very often. may have been tempted to stay by pool if kids could have fun.

| said: Apartments are very well looked after on the first day the ground floor sliding window didn’t lock at all and this being the room were our two children slept, was fixed as soon we made them aware of it.
The grounds are lovely and clean and there is space for parking if you hire a car. However on the downside if you have children who like to play with lilos/inflatables in the swimming pool, they cant, as they are banned, beware the "plastic police" they come in the form of lifeguards. I saw the guard tell a mother that her two year old, was not allowed to use her blow up dinosaur seat in the baby pool, there was no fun or games to be had anywhere on site. This is great for adults but not family's with young kids. And beware they seem to be having a problem with the bottom of the pool many people had cuts on there feet, the owners say this will be rectified very soon.
Not to worry the Greeks are a hospitable lot and there is a great pool just up the beach that you can use, with games and aerobics.

| said: Lovely setting, maid service was very good and maids very cheerful and friendly.
Spent most of the time on the beach although they had one of the best pools 'Ive seen in Greece the lifeguard was very strict and health & safety minded. No balls, no lilo's, no diving and no splashing!! So made for a boring day at poolside, so for family's who enjoy playing around in the pool this is not the place to go. I certainly would have not gone knowing this, sorry, but for couples and sun queens this is the ideal place to go.
If on a late flight there is no lounge in reception so you will need to sit outside on the wall till 3 am or what ever pickup time you have.

The staff were absolutely fantastic! Very friendly and accommodating.
The only problem we had was the awful smell coming back up from a sewage vent on the floor in our bathroom which seems to come up at certain times of the day.
I would definitely recommend these apartments to families or for group bookings as there's plenty of space to run about.

Towels and sheets were changed almost every day - you often don't even get this with 4*. The mezzanine level in the apartment was delightful.
The only downside of these apartments was no balcony on the first level apartment, but the ground floors did have a patio with furniture etc.
There were always plenty of loungers and a choice of where to sunbath, beach, pool or on the large grass area.

| said: Apartments spacious bedroom upstairs in lounge with 2 double rooms downstairs, also 2 bathrooms which were handy.
The maid we had couldn't do enough for you with ample towels and bed linen and cleaned every day but Sunday.
Rooms were a bit dated but they were only used to sleep in and the odd cup of tea and sandwiches etc.
No entertainment but who wants to sit around the apartment all night? Plenty of bars and restaurants just a 5 to 10 minute walk from the apartments Daphne's outside the apartments turn right just near the leather shop do lovely breakfasts and meals snacks etc.
Reason I wouldn't return is that I don't do same place twice as there are so many other places to visit.

You had basic kitchen equipment not even a wooden spoon the fridge was rusty inside and out and the oven was full of greece There where ants everywhere thanks to the maids when they did come in by opening the windows the beds where badly stained and damp.
I have stayed in Corfu for many years and this was the worst place we have stayed it is surpose to be a three star I would only rate it 1 star

| said: The apartments are set in lush green gardens which are very well maintained and are only about 5 minutes walk from thre main part of Gouvia which has plenty of shops, bars and restaurants.
The maids clean the apartments six days a week and change the towels every other day and the bedding regularly. The staff at the complex are extremely helpful and nothing is too much trouble. One point worth noting is that Lilo's are not allowed in the main pool.
Also worth mentioning is Daphne's which is a restaurant/snack bar next to the complex. This has been running for over 30 years by Daphne herself . She is helped by her son Dimitri and his wife Claudia. Their full english breakfast is very nice and all their food is good value. Other good eating places are Moukas and Melinas.
We enjoyed our holiday very much and would definately return to Govino Bay apartments.

It is only a short walk into the centre, approx 10 mins. You have a choice of bars and restaurants, plenty for such a compact resort.
We all would visit again soon.

Our apartment was very clean, spacious and pleasantly decorated, we choose an apartment with an upstairs which our kids thought was great, if you have toddlers you need not to worry as stair gates are fitted.
The complex over looks a beautiful bay.
The swimming pool was suitable for all ages, and going in May we had no problems with lilo's, but I would imagine in peak season this could become a problem and that's most likely when there no allowed.
All the staff were helpful, friendly and worked very hard to make you holiday enjoyable.
There was no entertainment by reps, but we made our own most nights.
The kids enjoyed Kids Zone, Thompson's holiday guests only. Julie and Lizzie were fantastic and the kids enjoyed every club they went to, always loads for them to do, the special themed nights were great, and gave us time to eat in peace, kids free zone!

The bar staff at the pool bar was very friendly and helpfull.
The swiming pool in the hotel is very clean and quite big enough for all all the guests the only thing that it lacks is the fact the children could not use the lilos or balls as the pool attendant would not allow it but she goes of duty at 5.30 and the weather is good until about 6.30 in the evening.
The complex lacks entertainment and as we went with children there is no childrens club with first choice.

Nice and quiet set in lovely gardens and airconditioning to cool you down after a day around the pool. All staff were very friendly and helpful and the maid service was excellent. Location very good within 10 minutes of Gouvia. Poolside bar food was very nice and we recommend the feta cheese bake. We recommend a visit to Daphnes next door, a lovely family owened restaurant and bar we had breakfast there every morning and always had our late night drink there before we staggered home. (Say hello to Daphne, Victor, Dimitris, Claudia and Tony for us). We were first drop off from Airport, Corfu town 20 mins on Bus, Aqua park close by (must for everyone).

| said: This hotel is set in a beautiful location as it overlooks a peaceful bay. However care should be taken when swimming as a local chap told as that there is a sewer outlet that discharges directly into the bay !
The appartments were very disappointing for 4 * accommodation. The desperatly needed a makeover and the furnishings needed replacing. There was no entertainment as such only bits and pieces that the Thomson reps put on. what makes up for all of this is the warm welcome you receive from the people. The hotel staff we met were great as were the people who run Daphne's the nearest local restaurant. We would recommend hiring a car as there are fantastic beaches and places to see on the island.

| said: We first stayed here in 1999, had a real good time.
You often wonder how much 'Rosieness' tme adds to memories, well this particular Island, Corfu, the location, Gouvia and the Govino Bay Apartments lived up expectations..and more.
It had'nt changed one bit and that really is a plus.
Practically the same staff at the apartments, in particular Leera[?], the lady who looked after our apartment, the people in the little supermarket, honest, friendly and helpful and the master craftsman in the leather shop who actually made two leather belts to my own design in less than a day, these belts really will last a lifetime too!.
The Greek people on Corfu are honorable, honest and friendly [with the possible exception of the bar 'down in the corner'in Gouvia offering 'real' Greek dancing and 'real' Greek food who, if you pay by travellers cheque [GBP] take it at par!?, seeming not to understand currency conversation rates...be careful.
One other problem is your holiday insurance, unless you have a 'GOLD' policy you'll have to pay the first 70 Euro's [£50.00]...and that was just for two visits, and a short course of antibiotics for probably just a 'wicklow' on a finger. The first £50.00...minimum.
'NOW, NOT A LOTTA PEOPLE KNOW THAT'....we did'nt!!.
Apart from that you really can't go wrong, even our two children, 13 and 15 had a great time,[check out the Island tour and the Aquapark]. This is our second 2 week visit and it won't be the last.....ENJOY.
PS..I have absolutely NO affiliation or vested interst in any of the above locations or facilities....we simply had a real good time.
Finally make sure you visit 'Daphnie's Bar', super-tasty, reasonably priced food and....so close you can STUMBLE HOME!!

| said: A very pleasant and well-run location with very clean rooms, and excellent shop a good pool and absolutely no flies or mosquitos! - however a few points are worth noting.
1) The restaurant is on a very busy main road and is noisy, although the standard of food is reasonable.
2) The "beach" is quite poor and hardly anyone swims in the sea since it is a seaweed-strewn inlet and the water is very murky. Nice for fishing though!
3) Many of the rooms have quite steep wooden stairs to the bedroom area which is in fact a gallery. This sould be dangerous to old people or young children. These flats (on the first floor)do not have a balcony and get very hot in summer. The ground floor flats are better. There are no smoke alarms fitted in the flats, although there are fire extinguishers.
4) Although the pool has "no diving" signs these are all ignored and not enforced so at times it is almost impossible to enjoy a quiet swim without kids jumping and diving in continually. Since the pool is not that big or deep this can be a problem.

Excellent staff both at reception and the pool area. Very, very friendly. Outstanding waitress/bar manager by the pool speaks superb English and is a delight !
The beach is very small, but the setting is superb. Gouvia is also very friendly with some nice restaurants very reasonably priced.
Only slight criticism is that sun loungers are "locked", until around 10.15am, when a very slow pool attendant eventually decides to release them. (At least there's no fight with the Germans at 6.45am though !!)
We would definitely return, the sooner the better.
