| said: This hotel was lovely and clean. The rooms are basic, but they have everything you need and we had a nice apartment next to the upstairs heated pool.
The hotel staff are helpful and pleasant.
I cannot comment on the food as we were self catering and always ate in one of the plenty of restaurants playa blanca has to offer.
The location of the hotel is on a quiet road. This has its ups and down. The Up is that you get no noise. Thoe down side is that if you just want to go somewhere close by for a meal you have a bit of a walk and with kids this can sometimes be a bit of a pain, but defintely not enough to put you off using this hotel again.
If you looking for a lively holiday i suggest Puerto del carmen as playa blanca is a holiday for those who want rest and relaxation. Plenty of lovely restaurants but nowhere really to go just for a drink with children and a bit of entertainment.
The hotel entertainment was awful while we were there. I think it may have been the time of the year as there was a lot of spanish staying at our hotel and all the entertainment was in spanish so we only stopped to watch once.
The car rental company situated in the hotel reception is very good with excellent rates and i would def recommend using them rather than thomson.
A bar we did use on New Years Eve was Chalmers which is situated down on a side road where all the shops are. We had never been in any other time during our holiday but they made us feel very welcome and we even got free shots at one point (bonus), although as i say it was New Years Eve.
Overall this holiday was excellent and relaxing. Thomsons trips (especially Souther Sights) was brilliant. Although i have to say maybe a little to quiet for us and having hired a car and visited Puerto Del Carmen we would like to go back to there.

| said: This is the 2nd time this year we stayed at the Sun Royal, Playa Blanca, All the staff in reception, catering and around the resort are all very pleasent, helpful, friendly and always treat you perfectly.
The position of the hotel around the pool's keep the slight breeze at bay, the hotel's location is far enough away from the noise of the sea front attractions, but within a easy 10min stroll, and it is located on a non-busy road.
The onsite shop is equal or cheaper than the local Netto shop, There is a great selection of self-service food to choose from, The Hotel is very relaxed, clean, well maintained, and in a quiet position, most rooms have single balconys some have two! If you have any issue, the hotel staff will usually rectify the problem within 10min with 100% success.
We booked through Thomsons, and the only way to describe them is "an invisable mother on hand ready to help 24hours" they don't "big-brother" you but it's like you know they are there for you when you need them, anytime!, they are at your side from when you land to when you leave (when/if you need them) they offer excellent excursions and a blanket trip that you will learn and maybe benefit from.
Sun Royal Aparthotel is *** to be honest it should be higher (you can't compare the ratings to the UK) it is 100% better than some 5* UK hotels.
Will I be going back? YES feel free to ask me anything I havent mentioned.

The room safe works with a key that is hired from hotel reception, it doesnt cost much and is worth every euro/cent because it's covered with the holiday insurance!
There is 100's of leaflets in reception about the attractions, there are welcome packs ready from the tour operators who also hold a small meeting that shows and offers excursions.
The lady at the car-hire desk is a great source of attraction info too!
Hope you enjoyed the weather like us.

| said: I can't think of where to start my review, im sitting here thinking of all the good memories i have. This was our first holiday away together and we couldnt have picked a nicer place to stay. The hotel could not be faulted and neither could the friendly helpful staff.
As we went towards the end of the season in Spetember the hotel was fairly quiet but everything was still open and was kept immaculatly clean.
The rooms were very well equppied and well maintained.
The pool was wonderfully clean and you could always get a sunbed.
The staff as i mentioned couldnt do enough to help and as we did not book coach transfers, the staff even dropped us off at the airport on our last day in their own car!
The one site shop is well stocked and a good sized netto is only down the road on the way to the beach.
The hotel is situated a 10 minute walk away from the town centre and beach. The hotel wasn't as close to the town as others, but as a result it was very peaceful throughout the day and night.
Most evenings we walked into town and back, but on the odd occasion when we had a little too much sangria or my girlfriends heels hurt we would catch a cab back for a few euros.
I can't really comment on the entertainment or the food at the hotel as there was no entertainment when we were there as it was late september and we ate in town every night.
In all the hotel was fantastic and highly recommended to anyone wanting a relaxing break. Ideal for couples, families, young and old. Enjoy!

| said: Our apartment was in the top end of the complex on the first floor and was perfectly located as it caught the evening sun when we returned from the beach/sightseeing. The apartment was spacious, big bathroom and bedroom and loads of storage space for clothes, etc.
We didn't use the pool, preferring the beach, but it looked lovely.
We paid a deposit for a remote for the tv but couldn't get it to work so gave up and took it back - who needs to watch tv on hols anyway?
There was no information in the apartments - normally there is a ring binder with some basic information in. As we didn't attend the welcome meeting we were left to find out things for ourselves but we didn't have any problems. Don't know where you got the key for safety deposit box but we used the combination on our suitcase instead!!
All in all, a perfect place for us, we didn't mind the walk into town, it was a pleasant stroll on flat ground.

| said: The Sun Royal apartments are some of the nicest that we have stayed in. We stayed in a ground floor apartment and it was spotless. The apartment was spacious and the bedroom had plenty of storage. There were 3 english channels on the tv and the saviour for us travelling with a 3 year old was Sky Movies Family.
The complex itself is really nice and we found all the hotel staff to be friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The Thompson rep was very helpful as well too. The pool areas were clean and we always managed to find a sunbed around the pool. The pool was a bit chilly but it was very refreshing to get into when it was hot!
There was a variety of entertainment on at night but the only one that we went to see was the parrot show which our 3 year old loved. It was a very entertaining show and well worth going to see.
The location of these apartments is ideal. It takes about 10 mins to walk to the beach and the main resort area. Plenty of really nice places to eat along the beach front, in 2 weeks we didn't have one bad meal.
All in all i would recommend these apartments to anyone. For good value family apartments these are some of the best that we have stayed in and will definately be going back.

Very few scottish or english people, mostly spanish and they were all on All inclusive. People in the UK do not get this option.
Shop in the complex is very good value and very handy.
Apartments are about 20 mins stroll to the main resort.
Resort itself we ate somewhere different every night of our 14 nights each meal was very good value.
Most waiters were very pleasant.

| said: From arriving at the reception, the staff were very friendly and had everything ready to make check in a breeze.
When we got to our room, it was very clean and as requested near the childrens pool. The room was just as advertised and quite modern.
The area around the pool was well maintained with many different type of trees, all displaying their names in both Spanish & English. There was a large array of sunbeds and no need to reserve at all, although it was quiet so this may change in high season.
The location of the apartments is on a road leading towards the front and was about a 10 minute walk which was pleasant and easy. From walking to the sea front, to the left is Marina Rubicon and to the right the main area of Playa Blanca. A taxi ride home was never for than 3.5 euros.
All in all and excellent holiday and would definitely visit Sun Royal again!

| said: A good sized apartment with everything that you need for a self catering holiday. We asked for a quiet room at the travel agents and this is definitely what we got. It seemed that those of us who had small children were tucked away from the evening entertainment. The rooms were very clean and the linen and towels were changed regularly. There are 2 pools, one is noisy but heated and the other is quiet but cool with a fountain in the middle.
There is a very useful shop on site that can provide you with the basics, bread is cooked throughout the day. A useful internet cafe is also on site and costs a euro for 10 mins.
A lady came around every day to let us know about the entertainment for both adults and children - tennis, water polo, face painting etc. She was very eager but everyone seemed to want a rest! We went out every night so didn't bother with the entertainment.
Yes the apartments are 15 mins from the action (and so very quiet) but the walk helped us to build up an appetite.

The entertainment was great for a young family and the kids club was excellent. The food was average but you could have as much as you wanted anyway. The staff were friendly and helpful. Location was a little bit far out especially for short legs! The pool was heated so that helped a great deal.Other facilities good too. Would visit again.

| said: The apartments are excellent - very clean & well maintained, comprising 2-3 storey apartments surrounding 2 swimming pools.
Cooking facilities were basic, but OK if you plan to eat main meals out. The cafe bar is open all day serving drinks & snacks/meals. The restaurant serves breakfast & evening meals, but we did not use it.
The "Night Bar" is open from 9pm to 1am and hosts the evening entertainment (children are welcome). The quality varies. During our week there was a pair of excellent singers one night (The Harrison Brothers), an awful singer one night (he cleared the bar!), 3 nights of bingo and the dreaded karaoke one night.
The on-site shop was small but well stocked & fine for supplies of milk, bread (baked in-house), beers etc.
A lot depends on which apartment you get. Ours was tucked away in a quiet corner, but some are in poor positions, such as on the edge of the terrace for the cafe bar or above the shop (with the constant "bing bong" signalling new customers from 8am to 8pm!)
There was a good programme of kids' activities planned by the excellent entertainments guy, but this was poorly supported and many activities had to be cancelled due to lack of support, even though this was during the Easter school holidays and there were plenty of kids around, who just didn't want to be sociable.
The apartments are 15 minutes walk from the front, then 10 minutes along the front to the nearest "civilisation". In between we just passed the back of one apartment or hotel after another - no bars to stop off & break the journey. I enjoy walking, but after doing this same return journey 2-3 times each day I was sick of it. Consider taking decent walking shoes rather than flip-flops.

Supermarket very useful, open 8 until 8 with good range of goods including own baked rools. The bar is a bit small, could be noisy and entertainment is basic but we tendered to go out in the evening. We did not use the restaurant but many others did.
Plenty of free beds round the pools but could do with more umbrellas, not much shade. Apartments could be very warm as no air con but fans available for hire at 15 euros a week.
First floor apartments do not have any shade, ground floor benefits from the shade of balcony above.
Complex is well situated, 15 minutes to the beach, bars and restaurants. Also good pedestian shopping area.
We would use this aparthotel again.

There was a supermarket on site.
The gardens/grounds were exceptional, kept clean/tidy and lit up at night.
The food in the restaurant was varied with plenty to choose from.

| said: Our appartmement was right next to the kids club but no problem with noise and also if you climbed through the bedroom window you had your own private sunbathing area! The appartment was very clean but needed a fresh coat of paint. Maids came in every day and were always happy and polite. The bedroom was huge but the living area was quite small. We took two small fans but you can hire these from reception (very warm at night in August). The swimming pool was freezing and very salty and pool area crowded (we took reps advice and went next door to Sun Park to swim - it seemed deserted if not a bit smelly).Mattresses for the sun beds are free from reception, sun bed were 'reserved by people as early as the night before! Restaurant food was adequate but a bit expensive at 12 euros adult (6 for children under 11), however you could go up for seconds and thirds if you wanted. If your children are too old for kids club then the facilities are poor, three pool tables (only one cue per table), table tennis (10 euro deposit) and the internet room. Pay per view tele (3euros for 24hrs gives you cartoon network, sky sports and a movie channel. Staff were all very helpful especially the maintenance man who at 1130pm ( and who had finished his shift) came and unlocked our bathroom door that seemed to lock itself!!. The walk to the beach was probably about 15mins in the heat of the day and about 30 mins to the port and shops. Overall not disappointed.

| said: Always something being cleaned around the complex, be it cleaning windows or shining the metal bins. The place seemed spotless. Couldn't fault the cleanliness here.
I have stayed half board many times and expect basic food, however this was the most very basic and repetitive food I have had. As some food wasn't labelled it was hard to tell what it was, even after tasting it! Food is not the main consideration for us on holiday so no worries for us and if you are vegetarian, better like salad as there didn't appear to be much else for you.
Sun Royal is in a quiet location, set back from the beach (600m in brochure, now I don't know if they were telling porkies or if it was 90 degree+ heat, but it certainly felt a lot further than that with a 6 year old and 9 month old melting in the heat!) It is about 1km to town, shops and many restaurants along seafront. Taxi back from town bargain 2.5 euro and takes about 30 seconds, seatbelt on or slide off the leather seats - "no-go-slow-in-Lanzarote" I was told by one cabbie. If you are a very nervous passenger, may I suggest "no-get-in-in-Lanzarote".
The staff were terrific.
The boring buffet was certainly brightened up with the waiting staff who constantly entertained my kids. They were so polite and cheerful, no discrimination if you were half board or paying customers, fantastic.
Our 6 year old loved Kids Zone club, kids reps were great I noticed especially with the more shy kids they really made the effort. My favourite had to be Lili, the animation team (yes just one person calling herself a team, but she had the energy of about 10 people) She was great, clearly adores kids and just wants to make sure everyone enjoys their holiday. Fully kitted footy referee, quiz master, bingo caller, karaoke queen, kids clown with the same same same songs every night at the mini disco (then running over the road to another hotel and doing the same same same songs there before coming back for the next event). She was even there waving us off home on the coach, seeming genuinely sad that people are leaving. Now I was told that she has been doing this same job for 12 years, completely nuts the woman is a total legend.
The only reason I wouldn't visit this complex again is the location. We love Playa Blanca and know of accommodation nearer the beach, Sun Royal is just that bit too far out for us.

| said: We booked last minute so were allocation on arrival and had no idea what to expect or where we were going to be staying.
Being five months pregnant I was a little dubious but as soon as we arrived Sun Royal allayed all my fears. The complex was clean and tidy with two large pools and plenty of room to wander around.
The supermarket was more than adequate for self-catering purposes although on most nights we headed down to the sea front for our main meal.
The food in the cafe was not particularly fantastic but they do chips which is always a bonus!
The staff and especially the cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
The only two niggles we had were that there was no air-conditioning in the rooms and it was very stuffy on an evening, although you can hire a fan from the reception.
The other thing was that the evening "entertainment" in the bar was rubbish. The bar itself was rather small and very smokey and loud so it wasn't ideal. We went out most nights.

We could not fault our room or the facilities - large bedroom and spotless throughout.
The complex is very much suited to families and so you can expect a lot of children around the pool and indeed in the bar late in the evenings. I'm no snob but I found some of the guests in the bar to be very loud and quite frankly the liberal use of bad language was unacceptable to us so we found another bar near the resort centre.
Overall as a value for money complex the holiday was good - we had a 'last minute deal' - if we had paid 'top whack' then I would have been disappointed I suppose.

The maids worked very hard and were exteremely efficient and there was always a member of staff cleaning the pool areas etc.
There are 3 pool tables, a table tennis table and an internet area which were of interest to our two teenagers. However the evening entertainment could be improved as could the bar area.
The apartment was quite spacious but the kitchen area relatively small. As we ate out in Playa Blanca (very reasonably) this didn't really affect us.
We have been on many holidays in the Canary Islands and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The maids came in everyday bar sunday and one day we put the do not disturb sign on the door as I`m disabled and was having a bad day and after she had seen to other apartments she came back to see if she could do it then, they were excellent.
We went self catering and found the food in the restrauant was really good and we found excellent choice, as far as hotel location it was central and I could use my wheelchair with ease, really flat, the hotel was really good for disabled people ramps every where and even lifs to upper floor and to the bar and supermarket.
I could go to the shops myself in my wheelchair I did find the supermarket small to get my wheelchair round but the assitants came and helped me wonderful.
I went with my Mother and Sister mums age 75 then me 58 and my sister 51 and the hotel was good for all of us.

Only thing to let this down was the food there wasn't a lot of choice and one night it was cold.
Would use accommodation again but only go self catering

| said: Sun Royal belongs to the Sun Group and all their hotels seem to be of a really good standard. Well laid out giving that `room to move' feeling, lacking in some hotels.
The ever-so-pleasant maids were round every day except Sunday. Can't praise Sun Royal too highly, wait, except perhaps for one of the female staff on reception who seemed to have selective hearing when British were about. Ignoring her we had a great time.
If you stay in your apartment at night to read, etc, it's worth taking with you a couple of 60watt screw-in bulbs to change for theirs. They have 25watts, a bat could only just manage.

| said: Really nice setting for these really nice apartments.
We had 2 apartments due to size of party that were next door to each other and it was lovely sat on the balcony on the morning eating breakfast.
Plenty of space around pool areas and sun loungers were plentiful. Just walked around pool about eightish and yes there were towels on sunloungers but also plenty left.
Nice little supermarket on site that did home baked bread as well as everything you needed quite reasonable.Beware you are not allowed in the shop wet from the pool. fair point but my son was told off in spanish but kids don't really understand. pool areas spotless and very clean and having 2 to choose from they weren't overcrowded.
We ate out every night which was a good 15 minute walk but thoroughly enjoyable and strolled back later on to catch the last of the entertainment. The room where the entertainment was held was very small and the genereal feedback from a lot of people was the entertainment wasn't up to much.
A very enjoyable and relaxing holiday in very pleasant surroundings.

| said: We stayed in Sun Royal Aparthotel Play Blanca and it was excellent. The apartment was very well equipped and clean. The towels and bed linen were changed every two days if not more. We tried the cafe for lunch on a few ocassions and it was very good. There was a restaurant on site which unfortunately we did not get to eat. The location of this accomadation was firtst class as it was only 15 mins walk to the main town centre and a very pleasant one at that. Entertainment that was suitable to all every night. We as a family would definetly visit these apartments again. The only thing I can say is that the rooms are extremely warm and air conditioning would be very nice to have, just to make the room comfortable at night.

| said: This was our first holiday as a family togeather abroad, with childen ranging from the ages of 6 months to 13 years and 4 adults.
The Sun Royal apartments were spectacular they were very clean and well laid out. The double bedroom was a good size and had every thing you needed to make this a pleasant stay. Both pools were big, one was heated and was never over crowded.
In addition to these there was also was one pool for small children. In the main reception there was internet access at a very good price. The reception area itself was asthetically pleasing to the eye and captured the country's natual beauty.
The rep gave good advice and was very helpful on places to visit. There was 20 minutes walk to the town but very pleasant if you wanted to get a taxi they were very reliable and cheap. If you go into any supermarkert the prices of a box of wine (1l) was appox 60p very nice.
We will definitly recommend these apartments for a family holiday and would go back again and again, but unfortunately this time we left it too late to book, they were full so we are trying another apartment in Playa Blanca this year I hope it is good!

| said: The hotel was very clean and they especially made a huge effort to keep all the public areas clean and tidy, there was always someone sweeping and cleaning. I only ate from the cafeteria once and the food was very good and well presented with very friendly staff.
It was a good 10 minutes walk to town, but it was a lovely walk along the beach. The beach is 5 minutes walk. Marina Rubicon is 15 minutes walk away.
Hotel staff were friendly and efficient.
I can't comment on the entertainment because I tried to avoid entertainment. It was low key and unobtrusive for those who were not interested in it.
I would definitely visit the Hotel again.
