the maids came in are room to clean once maybe twice in the seven days we was there.
i found the reps ignorant, we met another young couple at the hotel and in the week we were there they hadnt spoke to the four of us until our last day when they said hello.
the food was pritty much as expected- chicken chips & pasta for lunch & tea everyday, but when your catering for that many i guess its expected. it was edible.
The bar staff and hotel staff were exellent, they work sooo hard in that place. working all hours day & night!

| said: well what can i say all the reviews that give 2 or anythin less than 8 is obviously people who have nothing better to do than complain about anything they can.
the only bad point was that the hotel was a bit out of the town it took me and my boyfriend about 10mins to walk to the beach which was fine but this hotel is prob not suitable for older people but the hotel had a good mix of young couples old couples and families.
the food had a good mix the only thing i found was that a lot of fish was put on and i dont like fish but i never went hungry and there was bread chicken chips pasta and vegetables on every lunch and dinner.
there was always enough sunbeds around the pool and the pool area was kept clean and tidy.
the maids came in everyday except a friday and sunday and they cleaned the room to perfection the beds were made every morning and they even folded my pyjamas.
there was always entertainment throughout the day around the pool including a quiz, killerpool and even a lilo competition. entertainmentg of a night was just as good starting with childrens disco then bingo and then a show at the end. we had a jim carrey style visual comedian and a brazilian show just to name a few.
all in all i cann only say good things for this hotel and would recomend any1 to go there we had a reali good time.

The hotel was well located, close to amenities but not so close as to get any disturbances. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, Lucre was a great barman and all the bar staff were friendly. WE found the entertainment to be good, a mime artiste one night who was brilliant, brazillian dancers very sexy!!! comical slinky man and russian type dancing.. Then there were Dave and Lynn who were an excellent pair for the entertainment and loads of fun and games. Always coming up with something new, pyjama party, st trinians . They worked so hard to make everybody feel at home . I wonder where they get there energy from. full marks to them for 100% effort.

| said: Having stayed at many All-Inclusive hotels and reading the reports on here I did think we were in for a good holiday!
The hotel was very clean and it was nice to have an appartment, sooner than just a room. The hotel was on the small side but it was quite a friendly hotel and we met many nice people.
Food, at first it seemed o.k. but it did get repetative and there were some very strange combinations! As I am a vegetarian I did struggle as I do not want to eat salad everyday but sometimes there were special dishes. Puddings were very limited and you did have to wait for a table at times. The breakfast was quite good, but beware the slow toaster!!!
Entertainment!!!
Thomas Cook you should be ashamed of yourselves!!!!
The reps had 2/3 nights off a week and there was no entertainment, not what you want at an All-Inclusive!!! I felt sorry for the 2 reps as it seems that do not have the resources or staff that this hotel needed for the number of guests there!! One act was dire(a visual comedy act), people were laughing as it was so bad.
On a Saturday night the Reps performed at a club down the road, leaving us with( yes you guessed it) no entertainment at the hotel! You had to buy the tickets but I believe that some of the money went to charity. You do not expect to have no entertainment on any night let alone a Saturday night!!!!

After reading some of the reviews on this site i did not no what to expect but it was fantastic, couldn't have asked for a better location a stones throw away from the beach which was clean and fresh, the hotel/apartments were very clean and tidy with friendly staff that served very generous measures of alcohol (just what you need). The rep Jo was lovely and always on hand, very helpful. Dave and Simon the entertainment reps was of that, entertaining. We really enjoyed our holiday at the ficus and we are very sad to be back. We are planning the vsit the ficus again later in the year. Thank you to everyone at the ficus for making our holiday special.

The pool area was excellent with plenty of sun beds and a large swimming pool which was frezing but once you got in was fine. The food was the usual Spanish cusine, there was always something to eat. The entertainment was firstclass. From about 10am Simon and Dave were around the pool playing games, killer pool, darts, French boules, water polo, lilo races, quizes ect ect. All good fun. Just watch out for Dave at the water polo he cheats. Then at night the two lads kept everyone happy with loads of different shows. The Brazilian dancers is a must for all to see. Overall this was a great hotel and i met loads of great people by the pool and i would go back to this hotel.

Simon in bad need of a dentist but a very funny geek, meaning that in a nice way, all the kids love him! Dave well what can I say the wanna be pretty boy but he gets on with his job well.

Weren't happy with only one warm Shower!!! Somehow we managed to turn off the hot water?! God knows how? Luckily for us the weather was on our side.
The pool could have done with a heater, the older kids and Parents didn't have the guts too bare the frost lol.
The Entertainment was very good considering they didn't have the best resources. We had to play Footie in another Complex!! But it didn't dishearten the kids.
The main rep Simon could have brushed his teeth a little bit more, other than that he was spot on. Sang and Danced everynight.

| said: Hiya everyone, Well I have just returned from the Ficus Hotel on the 4th april 2008 and I must say I was pleasantly surpriced.
On our arrival we were met by a very pleasant manager he booked us is in without any fuss what so ever, on arriving at our room we found it to be clean and spacious and fresh we also had a big balcony which was great.
The hotel grounds were we kept clean and the swimming pool was immaculate although it was a shade cold.
The staff in general were very nice and always had a smile on their faces when approached and so hard working. The restaurant, well the food was very good indeed something for everyone and yet again they were so hard working.
The hotel entertainment in out first week was very good indeed my son enjoyed himself so much and made friends. The local beers and spirts were fine and as a all inclusive you had it in abudance you really were looked after so much.
But the big thing about The Ficus as it is a small comlex you had a wonderfull freindly atmosphere about the place now that my freinds is well worth the money on it's own.
I thank everyone one at the Ficus for the wonderfull holiday we had and the great freinds we met, before I went I heard lots of not so nice reports of the Ficus my advice take no notice go and enjoy yourself and make your own mind up.
Once again well done the ficus cannot fault you.
The hotel is set at the end of a road(2mins walk to the centre} which I think is great so at night you have no problems sleeping its quiet and peacefull.
Would I go again? No because I like to try differant places and I have never gone back to the same place.
I will definitely treasure my stay at the Ficus happy holidays everyone one final piont the wind can be a pain but this is March /April I'm talking about.

| said: Arrived at Ficus for a one week family holiday, the hotel was reasonably clean, apartment wasn't bad but not very happy with the room security, patio doors didn't lock securely and opened with little effort, so a safe is a must.
The food wasn't brilliant but nothing that would kill you, just a bit boring and repetitive. There was a problem with the water being off for a few hours but as this was caused by a street main having to be replaced it was hardly the hotels fault and not really the end of the world, the staff were always polite and helpful.
Katherine and Johnny were great and always very entertaining, especially good with the kids, and the rep Helen was also very helpful.

After reading some of the reviews before we left I was a little unsure of what to expect, but I need'nt of worried at all, the staff on reception were very polite and helpful and so was the staff in the restaurant and bar, the apartment was clean and spacious, the best block to be in is block 3 if you can get it, we were in block 3 on the top floor and had a great view over the pool. The food was excellent, it catered for all tastes, there is a microwave if you want to get you food piping hot but we never had problem, there is plenty of drinks to choose from and the staff are mor than happy to make what ever you ask them for. Katherine and John were great entertainers and their own cabaret is worth watching, they also keep kids entertained throughout the day. Helen was our rep and too was very helpful, perhaps one of the best reps we have had. We met some very nice peolple. We are already looking to book to go again next year.

| said: Got to hotel on Thursday 17th. Looked ok then went for meal. Not great but ok.
There is no snack bar, the snacks aren’t snacks but full meals that you have to eat in the restaurant and not take anything out of there.
Then Friday morning no water asked at 2pm what was going on about it was told it would be back on in 30mins, it was not. Asked again at 4pm and again told 30min also told rep about this just after that and she said she would speak to them about it and about paying for TV that didn’t work but still had to pay for. We then went out for something to eat as food was not cooked. White meat was still raw. Came back at 6.30 still no water oh and by no water I mean not even water so the kids could get juice like cola sprite ect. When we pulled them up about this at 2pm was told drink lager or use water cooler and the kids can drink that. Asked again about water was told know it would be on in 45mins I said this was no good as no toilets had been flushed all day and no drink and it broken the package holiday regulation and is breaking the law. I told this to the rep and then had a big argument with reception staff over this. There were loads of customers complaining about it so rep the said if it was not on just after 7pm they would make available a few rooms at the sister hotel for us to have a wash, but we had to make your own way there. I said that was no good and if not on by 7.30 they would have to move all customers to other hotels. Surprise the water was on by 7.30.
After a night out came back just after 1 to be locked out of hotel and given abuse about chopping guard away from TV. Told reception staff on Sunday and was told if all I was going to do was complain I was to leave so I ask for his manager and he called Thomas cook. Told lady on phone all things that had gone wrong and she said since I was angry and upset on the phone to her she felt like she didn’t want to help me so I ended the call. Then Monday morning I get a call at 9am saying they would move us to the sister hotel but had booked outings and nights out leaving from the hotel and only had a few days left so it wasn’t worth my time moving. Also felt like they were trying to push us out.
Also asked for a copy of my complaint and was told no I can get them when I get back to the UK. Eat most meals at Cactus Jack their food is good and the chicken on a spit from the beach is great.

| said: Food - We ate every meal out including breakfast. Food quality, and cooking methods leave much to be desired. I buy a few economy products in the supermarket in the uk, the food at the ficus, is below economy quality, by a long way. Meat was often part cooked, chilled and reheated/cooked! Bread never fresh. Food always cold or luke warm.
Drinks - choice of 6 spirts, beer or soft drinks!
Apartments - large, basic, with a step in the middle! not childfriend. Bedroom is at the back, unless you are the end apartment everyone has to pass your apartment to get to theirs,at night people aren't always quiet, and there are no nets or voile, so if you want light in your bedroom, you have to accept everyone can very your bedroom.
Would never go back or travel with Thomas Cook again.

| said: Just came back from a week's all inclusive at the Ficus apartments. Was a last minute deal via Thomas Cook website and was allocation on arrival to either this one or El Trebol. We had wanted El Trebol as it had a kids club so were a bit disappointed at first. When we arrived we were offered some food before checking in as it was around 10pm. Top tip - you'll be given a wrist band for the all inclusive - it's a bit like a hospital band and can only be cut off so make sure you ask them to tie it loosely so you can put it on and off.
We had asked for 2 rooms on the ground floor and were put in 2 different apartment blocks, one on the 3rd floor and one on the ground. This was changed the next day and we got an apartment on the ground floor right next door to my mum and overlooking the pool.
The complex itself was quite small, but i liked that, and it meant everyone around the pool got to know each other. Jonny and Simon were great at keeping everyone entertained, but felt they could have done more for the kids in the absence of a kids club apart from kids hour in the evening.
It was the first time we'd gone all inclusive and we weren't disappointed. The food was fabulous and very varied. Much better than the 4* place i'd stayed at on my previous holiday. No complaints about the free booze either...especially the cocktails by the pool!!
There is black waste ground on either side of the hotel, but so what...it's just 5 mins to the shops and the rest of the resort.
Overall? If you want a relaxing week of lazing by the pool and not have to worry about food and watching what you spend then this is the perfect place for you. It was exactly what we were looking for so we enjoyed it very much and would definitely go back.

| said: Just returned from a fantastic 2 weeks at the Ficus. The weather was great, sun shining every day and a lovely cool breeze (it is a blessing believe me!)
We were impressed by the apartments when we checked in, the reception staff all speak English and are really helpful.
We had a room on the 3rd (top) floor, not so good to lug our suitcases up but well worth it as we had a very sunny balcony most of the day and no noise from other people running around above us!
The rooms are nice, with Self catering facilities as i believe the apartments were self catering a few years ago. they are a bit tired but just what i expected so no problems there (although twin beds arent the best for a young couple they seem to be standard abroad).
The pool bar served drinks and icecreams all day and the entertainment bar all night until 11.30, when its time to hit Legends!
I can happily recommend the Swan for a good english breakfast and legends do a nice lasagne as well as sarnies and snacks.
Our favorite place to eat on the island is the Lanis Cantina Tex Mex. the steaks are fabulous and we only found this place on the last but one night of our holiday but ate there both nights once we'd found it. Amazing. it is just up the road from the main beach.
The reason that i list nice places to eat is that we found the food horrible at the Ficus. the first 4 days were ok, nothing special but edible food i guess but on the 5th day i was struck down with a vile stomach bug, which several people seemed to suffer from whilst we were there, and my boyfriend also got it a few days later. there is a doctor on the island that you dont have to pay for (if you have your E111 card) ask at the Pharmacy at the bottom of the road if you need it, they are very helpful. People have said that the food is excellent but i cant understand how they can say this, i'm not a snob or anything and when i read previous reviews saying the food was bad i chose not to listen and thought that them people must have too high expectations or something. i wish now that i had listened and taken more money so that we could eat out every day.
Jonny and simon the entertainment team are great (i personally found simon really annoying but thats just me and he did try really hard, too hard probably! Sorry Simon!), but they really made our holiday one of the best ever. there was always something going on for my boyfriend to get involved in, Pool, darts, lilo races, giant jenga, quizzes and of course towel twister (my boyfriend is now a 'superstar' after winning that game!). this was good as it left me free to enjoy the sun without him moaning that he was bored. most of the entertainment was geared towards adults and older kids but that suited us perfectly. Jonny it wont be the same without you when you leave!
Our rep Carley left whilst we were there to go and work for another company but she was really good, helping us to rearrange our Catlanza trip as i was ill when we were meant to go on it. She even phoned me in the evening to see how i was! really nice rep and very helpful.
We made loads of friends and were sad to see them go at the end of our first week, the second week was quiet but meant we came back refreshed and relaxed!
i recommend that you go on the Catlanza boat trip and the Volcanic Escape. both trips were amazing but i wont go into detail about them, you can find out for yourself!
Costa Teguise is quiet but we have been before so knew what to expect. the beach is lovely although we spent all of our time by the pool this time.
All in all, an excellent holiday and we would return to the Ficus, we'd just make sure we had the money to eat out every night!

The hotel was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly. The food was rubbish and at times disgusting after the third day gave up trying to find anything edible so we ate out.
Drinks were plentiful and of good quality.
The entertainment staff Johnny and Simon did a good job it was never boring by the pool, in the evenings there was bingo with good prize money and a show of some sort, for the price we paid(just over 200)it was good and we weren't disappointed but if your expecting anything above a 2 star don't bother going.

| said: 13 of us (all family) stayed all inclusive which we booked 18 months ago.
What can we say about the food, we had no complaints at all. You never went hungry and the choice was great. They did serve french fries, pasta, fresh salad, fresh fruit, pasta sauces, fish, 2 different meats, another type of potato e.g. mashed, garlic slices, roast, cold choices like potato salad, coleslaw, meats, cheeses, different bread rolls, and puds.
Each night they cooked a meat or fish fresh in front of you. Other dishes like meats in sauces were also served. This was the same for lunch, but you had the choice, you didn't have to live of chips and pasta - I myself only had chips once in the 2 weeks we were there.
Each night was a different food theme, the Mexican was our favorite.
The location of the hotel was good even though it was surrounded by waste land - you were only 5 Min's from the shops and 7 Min's from the beach.
The walks were very easy although the pavements were uneven. You could cut across the wasteland if you wore sensible shoes.
Lynn and Harry (no longer there now), the entertainers were great. They didn't force you to do anything you didn't want to do, they were fun and very friendly.
They did a quiz in the morning by the pool, followed by a 'You bet' challenge then returned in the afternoon for a game of footy, volley ball, snooker, table tennis or water polo.
The evenings started with a kids disco and games, then bingo sales and Not the Nine O'clock news, then big cash bingo and then entertainment - it was good.

| said: We read the reviews before and were dreading our holiday, but we needn't have worried. Yes the hotel has wasteland all around it but it is just a short walk to the beach and the shops.
The food in our opinion was very good, better than some 4* hotels that we have stayed in. The restaurant staff kept the areas very clean and the food was regularly re-stocked so it was always hot.
Lee, the rep spent a lot of time at the hotel, maybe something to do with all the poor reviews that they have had, and some kind of manager wandered around the buffet pointing things out to staff, even though we felt it was all fine.
Main problem could be if the hotel was full the entertainment and restaurant are quite small and could struggle to cope.
Rooms were fine, bit dated but clean, nice to have a fridge, usually have to pay extra for one.
At the end of the day you get what you pay for and we were more than happy and would go again one day.

| said: Had nightmares the night before I went after reading these reviews, got there and yes there's what they call wasteland either side of the hotel, but it wasn't a problem for me.
The rooms were basic but spacious, surprised that fridge and cooker worked as we were all inclusive, the room was kept clean, which was my main concern.
As for the food, edible, it meant we ate out more than expected, I usually sit for an hour when I go away normally, but 15 minutes and we were in and out.
The entertainment was typical holiday entertainment, not great not rubbish, but it was enjoyable
It wasn't the greatest position to be situated as far as the hotel was concerned, but it wasn't far from the centre, a nice stroll to the front and the centre.
At the end of the day I got what I paid for, I was more than happy with what I got, like I said the food was all I was disappointed in.
Would I go back? I wouldn't rush back, but yes I would return at some point in the future for a cheap holiday.

The hotel reception were quite helpful especially when my partner was ill with bronchitus. But...although the pool was clean and looked after, it was freezing.
We found a cockroach roaming about out room together with some other small creepy crawlies.
The food was appalling. It was buffet style and left standing on heat trays, consequently if you didn't want to eat at 1.30pm or 7pm you got tepid food..not healthy by any standards.
The choice was limited, very few vegetables, lots of plain pasta and chips (soggy ones).
I suppose the standard is dictated by the price, in which case I will save harder and pay another £200 a week for a decent place to stay.

| said: You shouldn't have to "grin and bear it" on your holiday. This is the worst place in the canaries. Listen to the bad reports, they are obviously from people who have been to much better places.
The entire site is about as big as the foyer in a decent complex. The pool is too small with smelly slimy water and the "activities" would have the cast of Hi-De-Hi blushing.
Don't go, forget to take your passport to the airport, get on the wrong coach at Arrecife, don't get off the coach at the "Freakus Apartments", go back to the airport and beg for a flight home.
Sleep in the gutter for a fortnight-it will be cleaner. You can eat the stray animals that lurk around the Freakus, they certainly look tastier than the cack served in the "restaurant".
The place would be vastly improved if someone dug a very deep hole and dropped the whole bloody lot down it.
If you do go, be sure to travel around the island looking at how much nicer ever other hotel and apartment complex is compared to yours.
You have been warned.

| said: Stayed at the Ficus apartments on a all inclusive basis, although in middle of nowhere the complex was excellent throughout.
The rooms were cleaned 5 times a week with clean linen twice a week and maids were very polite at all times. On a all inclusive would have expected to have kettle, fan(as no air con)and TV included in price and not have to pay to hire/use.
The Restaurant/Bar staff were excellent and good fun also. The biggest complaint would be the food as on themed evenings no edible alternative in hot food was available just salad and chips(as there was mid morning lunch mid afternoon and yes evening meal too)If you like chips you were catered for.. However large English breakfast in the morning saw us through. But had to eat out on a number of occasion in the evenings which on all inclusive you should not have to do.
Entertainemnt... Lyn & John 10**********
from morning to night Lyn & John worked their socks off
Quizzes round the pool, Killer Darts, Play your Cards right, French Boulles, Killer Pool, Football at Ultrabol
both kids and Adults, Water Polo(won my superstar T-shirt as did Catherine)) Water volleyball Water Aerobics Pool Party Bingo by the pool. Then in Evenings Kids disco, Not the 9 O'Clock news Cash prize bingo and then main shows where again they both excelled and the end of every night the main complex song was played and what a cracker it is
HOLD YA HEAD (Shake it up Shake it up) nobody was allowed to stay seated and what an absolute gas it was. Lyn John you made our holiday and a personal mention for Jessica Andrea Paki & Mauricio
It was just a shame the food was not half as good as the staff and entertainment crew
Thanks

Everyone enjoyed the food (even something for the fussiest in the group).Sometimes had to queue for tables but not for too long.
Hotel cleanliness excellent.
Pool was cleanest I've seen.
Pool cleaner was very hardworking.
Location was a bit far from beach but didn't need to go there as too much going on by pool.
Shops,a few bars aquarium and mini golf in walking distance.
Reception and cleaning staff very helpful.
John and lynn excellent fun. If you join in everything you' ll never be bored!
Kids club not on site a good 5min walk. Wild west night ,reps charity night and Wacky Wednesday were fantastic fun.
The race for sunbeds got earlier and earlier. Some people starting to queue at 7.30 even though they weren't unchained until 9.00.
Would definitely go back there as excellent value for money and had something for all our group.

On arrival reception staff were friendly told us all about the hotel then gave us our all inclusive wrist bands. We were on the 3rd floor kills you with all your suitcases.
On entering our room we were pleased very clean, lovely view of pool area and sea, exactly what we asked for. You have a cooker, fridge all you need. You have to hire the lead for the kettle we didn’t bother just asked for a saucepan to boil the water which was free (just as good).
There is table tennis, pool table, table football, darts board, little mini arcade for the kids just with a ice hockey machine in and teddy grab machine also with vending machines in selling crisps, chocolate, ice lollies.
Hotel food was nice we had Mexican nights, Chinese nights, there was Spanish nights also full English cavery. Breakfast there was cerial, fruit, yoghurts, toast(make your own in toaster provided in restaurant)boiled eggs, fried eggs, sausage, bacon, cossiants, frankfurters, you would need to be fussy not to be able to eat here.
All staff were friendly always saying hello.
Now where do I start about the entertainment I haven’t laughed so much in all my life Lynn and John fantastic loved them (even though John kept sending me to the sin bin for nothing) During the day by the pool there was loads going on such as killer pool, killer darts, killer table tennis, water polo, water volleyball, French bouls, daily quiz, wakey Wednesday was hilarious, lilo races, so funny, even aqua aerobics. Lynn needs a translator she is Scottish couldn’t understand what she was saying, she was funny. John joined in the games with us he was the biggest cheat going. Everyone was after the superstar t-shirt we got one my husband Andy got man of the match in water polo, the lengths you have to go to, to get one is unreliable even begging don’t work.
We met some lovely people we went with friends and even ray got a certificate for biggest ever water polo cheat. Little john was funny, big Steve and Alison, Darren or should I call him Rita the cheater, Sue you all made our holiday.

The rooms were of a good size, and were cleaned regularly, although the sheets were only changed once in 2 weeks. the pool area was immaculate! and watching the daily fight for sunbeds was very funny.
The food was ok, nothing fantastic a bit repetitive.
The staff were polite.
The entertainment was available during the day (water polo, darts, football, bingo etc) and on an evening there was a less than inspiring kids disco and the main event started between 10pm and 10.30pm. As we had small children and the music was very loud this became annoying as it often carried on until after midnight.
To sum up we thought the hotel was geared towards the older family!

The food was really nice quite allot of choice (soups were gorgeous) I was really surprised to see they had coca cola as well thought it would have been the a cheapo version.
Pool was really nice the cleaner was out cleaning it everyday.
John and lynn were great entertainers. Joined in evernight for the bingo. (even won 100 euros) and loved charity night where all the reps got together from around the resort and put on a show. It was great!!!!
I would reccomened this hotel to anyone. Had such a fab time. Wish i was still there.

Apartments are really clean and very spacious, maid service 5 times a week as per brochure.
Pool very cold but you do get used to it, and it is cleaned every day apart from Sunday.
You don't have to get up at the crack of dawn for a sunbed either as there are plenty to spare.
Hotel location was fine, only a couple of minutes walk into Costa Teguise and 10 minute walk to lovely beach.
Hotel staff work really hard and are very friendly.
John & Lynne do a fab job and keep everyone entertained and they work really hard. Poolside quiz, killer darts, killer pool, games in the pool etc. We heard complaints that there wasn't a lot to do for kids, out daughter wasn't bored once and loved the pool area. Mini disco for kids is great as is "more tea vicar", Hold Your Head song really catchy, you end up singing it all the time. It doesn't state that there is a kids club in the brochure, if that is what you want then don't come to the Ficus.
After reading reviews before we went away we were a bit worried but needn't have been. Everthing was spot on and we would definitely go back. Please judge for yourself and don't be put off by the reports that you read.

The hotel staff were very polite, the cleanliness of the rooms, dining area, pool and bar was faultless. They served a wide selection of food at breakfast lunch and dinner with snacks in between. There was always plenty of choice and a microwave was to hand if you needed to warm your food up, but we didn't ever need to.
The entertainment provide by John and Lynn was exceptional, if you are going to stay at this hotel and really want to have a good time then you need to join in with the activitives and entertainment. The nights when Lynn or John had a well deserved night off, local entertainment was brought in; this ranged from brazilian & spanish dancers to parrott shows and magicians, but this was not nearly as good as the entertainment provided by Lynn and John.
Overall we had a great time and would stop at this Hotel again.

We then found out that the hotel was being renovated for all inclusive starting on the 1st May. There was no entertainment and no bar/restaurant open. All other tour operators moved their people but only Thomas Cook and Sunset did nothing.
The hotel staff were not interested in any complaints. Also you are not told you have to hire a kettle/toaster and microwave on self catering over two weeks this can be quite expensive.
The hotel may be better when it is all inclusive but for all inclusive I think the hotel is very basic.

| said: We went to this hotel for a new year break and some sunshine. We could not fault the cleanliness of out apartment, the cleaners were there a lot during the week.
The pool and pool area was immaculate, cleaned every morning. The Pool Bar was supposed to be open from 10am until 5.30 - it often didn't open until 11am and was always closed by 5pm. The food was awful. Everything was cold and if there was a sauce it had a thick skin on it, the pasta tasted like it was made from a packet and was very watery. Luckily they provided a microwave so you could heat up what you were able to eat, otherwise it was stone cold, even if you went down as soon as the restaurant opened.
We didn't have children with us, but there were a lot in the hotel and the choice of food for them was terrible, a lot of them were surviving the whole time on chips, bread rolls, ice cream and fruit.
Definitely not the standard we expected.

| said: just got back from the Ficus from the 29th of Sept to the 13th of October
A pretty good holiday from start to finish entertainment was fab and the daytime activities kept me busy
Food was not the best but you can't complain when it's free really.
Stayed in every night as night time fun was great Andy and Shaz really know how to entertain. The show bar was full pretty much every night with the bingo and Dynamite disco for the kids and the drinks were great too.
Apartments were always clean was a little annoyed at the view of volcanic rubble that I had at the back of my apartment and was no where near the pool so we didn't have a view to look at. (We were however near the show bar so got the music to listen to if we went in early)
I tried hard for 2 weeks to get the coveted superstar t-shirt and on my last night I finally got one some say it was a sympathy vote but the entertainers said I deserved one for my hard working effort so I can't complain with that.
Lots to do to ensure you never get bored but if you go with kids make sure you keep an eye on them as for some unknown reason they don't have a life guard on duty at all!!! I experienced that first hand on my first day there I drowned and not one person jumped in I had to try hard to get myself to the side but luckily wasn't too far away from it.
Unfortunately my last night was Andy's last night so I don't know who will be there when I go there another time. Shaz is so funny and the faces she pulls are classic and to say she is only about 4 foot tall she is one big character and I will miss her and I don't even know if she will be there if I went back to the Ficus.
Would definitely go back again next year though it is so much fun for all the family.

The hotel is spotless, always staff around cleaning toilets pool, ect.
The pool is slippery around the edge of it, so you have to be careful.
The entertainment was ok, but I have seen much better.
The holiday rep's Shaz and Andy do their job well, but Andy could do with singing lessons.(Sorry Andy).
Staff were not friendly at all except for one or two who were great.
We were told we could have more than one key for our apartments as sometimes not all of us wanted to come back at the same time at night, but were told three days later they only supply one key per room, which was rubbish as one of our group had three keys given for one room. So it depends who you get on at reception.
The manager could do with a course in politness.
Food was lovely, lots of choice. People, please dont expect 5 star when you paid for 3 star.
The hotel is well up to its rating, although as I found on holiday you can't please some people. Women look out for the father and son on the complex, you will know what I mean when you see them.
Rooms are kept clean daily by staff. As for outside the complex, we ended up in Cactus Jacks. We would stay on the hotel complex till last orders, then down to C Jacks for happy hour buy one get one free 12am to 1am.
Entertainment was good, but check your change as a couple of incidents of over charging alcohol with our group and other people happened while we were drinking. It's all to easy to put change in your pocket without checking, so be wary.
The beach is an easy distance away and very clean with more than enough shops to spend your hard earned cash.
All in all this was a great holiday for families and groups, we are going again to the same hotel next year, so it can't be that bad.

The hotel staff were very friendly especially the evening bar staff.
The hotel was kept very clean at all times.
The entertainment staff were fantastic Shaz and Andy made my holiday I joined in with all the activities and I won lots of awards including a "Superstar T Shirt". Maid service very good bit sparse with clean towels and only had bedding changed once in two weeks. The patio door wouldnt lock properly, the green area around the pool stank, lack of sunbeds cant see the point of getting up at 8 to reserve a sunbed, had a row with a bloke because I got his sunbed, but been watching it had been empty till 3pm.
Food alright if you like chips, I saw the rep that was there eating, guess what he was having chips.

| said: Seven of us visited the Ficus in mid August, 4 adults and 3 children.
The hotel is on the edge of El Trebol 1 of the 3 parts Teguise is split into and the quietest.
We found the hotel to be kept reasonably clean with regular maid service.
The food is at best average, you can always find something to eat however there is a very limited choice. Hotel staff were polite however didn't smile very much and 1 of the receptionists was a stroppy too much hassle for me kind of guy.
The entertainment team consisted of the odd couple Andy and Sharon who i have to say worked very hard , nothing was too much trouble and we had a great laugh with them all fortnight which made up for many of the shotcomings of the Ficus Appartments.
My main complaint is the lack of sunbeds which was an absolute disgrace. If you plan on sleeping in past 9a.m you will not get a sunbed when the appartments are fully booked.
We were lucky enough to travel with friends and budgeted to eat out most of the second week which we certainly did. The Ficus is not a bad hotel, do not expect cordon bleu cooking however the pool is very nice and if you are eating out try Ferraris Bar at the bottom of the road, good breakfasts and great t-bone steaks.
Evening entertainment was usually a good laugh but if you are a lager drinker like me you will soon get sick of the Mahou (moose juice) as we named it although you are not limited to how many drinks you can get in any 1 visit to the bar and the drinking side of the all inclusive was very good also free ice creams all day for kids.
One tip though take a tray, the hotel will not lend you one (seriously).
Also visit Cactus Jacks at the bottom of the road 2 for 1 beers 12.00am till 01.00am grteat if you like a load of brits doing karaoke.

The hotel is located in a rather residental part of the resort, and is in the middle of a barren waste ground(undeveloped land)which is particularly horrible at night because the road leading up is completely unlit - not good for girls walking home at night, the pavement is also uneven so watch your footing. the appartments are located about a 10 minute walk to the beach which is ok, but you are a little bit away from the best bars and resturants in the resort.
Although inside the lay-out of the appartments and hotel grounds is nice (although a bit on the small side, particularly round the pool) the trees and shrubs attract small sparrows and rock pigeons which I personally loved. There is also a resident cat who is the friendlist little guy ever - but he will keep himself to himself if you are not a fan. My friend and I were fortunate enough to get a top floor room with a nice sea view - some appartments overlook the waste ground outside and some overlook a white wall - unlucky if you get one of those!
The staff are curtious, helpful and efficent (except offer no help with check-in luggage) but on some occations too reserved. Try not to approach them in an arrogant manner because your card is marked after that. My personal experience of the staff was keep smiling and saying 'Hola' and by day two/three of the stay they have warmed up. Also there is a bit of a 'good cop bad cop' situation going on with the reception guys one chap in particular (no names) may seem a bit too dismissive for some, but yet another chap (no names) is really, really jolly and just funny!
The maid service was good and rooms cleaned nicely. The rooms themselves are fresh and clean on arrival although a bit dated, however they are comfortable and a good all round 'crash pad'(tip: if you want a cup of tea during the night you will have to pay for the kettle cable, just get a pan from the cupboard and boil water in that)there is also a working fridge with freezer compartment(icecube tray provided inside - godsend!!!) bathroom standard good, although the water pressure can play a few games with you when showering. (Lanzarote has a weird environmental quirk - all used toilet paper should be thrown in the bin provided and not flushed down the pan - you do get used to this eventually)
the food is, well the food just is... it is however fresh (tip: get down early for the best helpings, and when it is still warm!) latecomers may have to que to get a table. My friend and I were always prompt so we didn't have any bother, but we did eat out once or twice (we needed some Tapas!)
now, entertainment - not at all to my personal taste but to be fair, the two running the show did work hard(I heard the girl practicing her singing on several occations before the nights activities - proffessional) but personally we didn't really stick around on the complex too much so I can't really comment - but hey, I did witness 'More Tea Vicar'one night and thought it was hilarious - really like something out of a monty python episode, just... weird.
to sum-up I have said no to visiting this hotel again - not because I had a terrible time, but really because it was not suitable for two girls holidaying themselves(and certainly no good as a romantic break for a young couple). If you have a young/large family - then perfect, kids entertainment, set meal times, lots of other children to mix with, noise levels kept to a minimum after 12 midnight. Los Figus is really geared towards the family market.

| said: Really enjoyed our stay at the Ficus!! We all had a fantastic time!!
The hotel and apartments were kept spotless.
The staff were lovely and very helpful!!
The pool and pool area were cleaned daily to a very high standard, the only thing that did worry me slightly was the white area around the pool, it was extremely slippy, I do think that they should have signs to point this out, as I witnessed a few accidental falls!!
I thought the food was fantastic, there was always something that you could eat, it was always fresh and plentiful in supply!! The breakfast were nice, they even had proper sausage and baked beans!! The Mexican night was my favourite tacos, enchiladas, guacemole..yum!!
We thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment!! Sharon and Andy are a perfect match they tried 100% to entertain everybody and succeeded!! We thought they were brilliant! I'll never be able to watch/listen to Pavarotti again without thinking of Andy, and Sharon has a brilliant voice!!!
All in all we had a great holiday, met some lovely people and made some fantastic friends!!!

| said: My holiday to the Ficus, was simply the best i have ever been on, I really enjoyed every minute of it.
When we arrived, the reception staff were really helpful and polite, and helped us with everything we needed. They were also there for emergencies, for example if any emergency service was needed, it was called straight away.
Also the waiters were very hard-working. They were always busy, and although they didn't smile as much as I would have liked, they were polite when needed to be.
The food was great! I expected it to be ok, but it was much better, and there was a choice of snacks all day, so you were never hungry. And also there was always a bar open for drinks throughout the day. It was also very clean and hygenic, as there were no people allowed without suitable clothing, eg, t-shirt ans shorts were minimal.
The rooms were extremely clean as well, and the cleaners did a brilliant job 5 times a week. Because of this, there were never a problem with bugs or insects.
The hotel location was great as well! It was a 2 minute walk from the nearest supermarkets, and if anything was ever needed, it was just a small walk away, for example, the beach was only a 10 minute walk away.
The entertainment however was a little poorer than the rest. The entertainers (Andy and Sharron) tried very hard to entertain the children, but some of th games were a little tedious, for example, more tea vicar. This was a boring game, but the children enjoyed it a lot. And there were always a quiz everyday, which gave the adults something to do as well.
The club was great, the staff were very efficient, and willing to help. It was a fun night out.
I would definitely return to the Ficus, and do intend on doing so one year, hopefully soon.
Anyone who is going, just have a great time, and although the entertainment can be poor, the other aspects of the holiday make up for that.

| said: The Ficus was in a fairly quiet part of town, bit of noise from the road behind. Short walk to shops and bars if you really are a fussy eater you can get full English for 3eu and a pint for 1.50eu, bars are cheaper at this end of town.
Staff were great I find people treat you how you treat them staff always seem stand offish for the first day or two.
Shaz and Andy do try but Andy's singing is poor he sang Keatings "When you say nothing at all" it brought a tear to my eye!
The food after reading the reviews on here I was worried, ok scrambled egg was rubbish but always is abroad. If you want pie n chips stay at home. The food was ok all the time and great some times. Canary night and Mexican night where fantastic Mojo sauce and all.
We enjoyed our stay just have a few drinks join in and relax have a laugh Shaz n Andy are a match made in heaven

| said: Just arrived back from a very entertaining and fun two weeks at the Ficus. We were a bit worried after reading some of the reports posted. However, we did not need to worry.
The rooms are kept spotless by the maids who work very hard.
The food at the Ficus is satisfactory, there was always something to eat, and it did however become a little repetitive towards the end. We did eat out three times, but this was due to variation not the quality of the food.
The hotel is a little way out of the centre, but only a 5-10 minute walk from the beach, it really was not a problem.
The entertainment team at the ficus (Andy and Sharon) were excellent and up for a laugh. They remembered everyone’s name, especially the children. There is always something happening and if you are willing to join in you will have a great time. The only people we heard complaining were those who refused to join in or those without children.
The Ficus is aimed at families and older couples or young couples may feel a bit neglected. Our son (Matty) loved Andy and Sharon and tormented them for the full two weeks, this was great as it gave us a break.
There is a very friendly atmosphere at the ficus, we made some good friends especially; Helen, Steve and Thomas; Tina, Kieran and Scott; and Joe, Oggy and their group from Manchester. Thanks guys you helped to make our holiday such a laugh.
We would go back to the Ficus again.
