| said: Having stayed at the Marbas in 2002 we were looking forward to staying there again last September as stated in my previous review. We were in for a disappointment!.
The hotel standards had deteriorated.
The staff were polite and friendly but the cleanliness of the rooms left a lot to be desired.
The swimming pool was dirty, there were no sunbeds, and the children's pool was even dirtier than the main pool.
The main problem however was the noise from a bar next door. It was very very loud indeed from about 9pm till 1.30.am.
It was so stressful that we asked to be moved to a different room at the front of the hotel. We were not happy having to do this as we had paid extra for a sea view.
The room at the front was quiet but we will never stay in this hotel again.

| said: We stayed at the Mar Bas Hotel and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, the receptionist " Veli" was very pleasant as werev the 2 maids "Ayshe and Uzlam".
The Hotel is in need of modernising but if you manage to get a sea view room the views are magnificent, although only certain tour operators have an agreement with the hotel to book sea view rooms, this is the only reason I would not return to this hotel as the rear facing rooms are quite uninviting.
The balcony was furnished with a poor home made small table and what I would describe as two moulded plastic child seats which are very uncomfortable, the result was that we hardly ever sat on the balcony for the entire 2 weeks.
Although as stated the hotel requires refurbishment the maids do an excellent job of keeping it clean, and we returned daily to find the beds had been decorated with blanket and flower petal displays, a very nice touch.
So overall, brilliant staff, brilliant sea views, but the bulding is dated.

| said: Just returned from a weeks holiday at the Mar-bas and it was excellent. We were recommended this hotel from Carol at icmeler travel centre and booked it. It has a wonderful position right on the beach.
The only thing we did wrong was to book all inclusive as it is so cheap to eat out, though we couldnt fault the food at all. I agree with previous comments that the rooms could do with updating, but they are very clean as is the hotel. The hotel entertainment is in the liberty bar next door, but as we were on all inclusive we had to pay for drinks in there as we had to get our drinks from the hotel bar.
We had a wonderful week everybody is very friendly and will do anything for you.

| said: Very Clean hotel, however does need refurb, Air Conditioning is controlled centrally, comes on 5.30pm - 9.00pm then again Midnight - 6.00am. We were both ill for 2 days, therefore the room was very uncomfortable as it was approx 40 degrees outside! We finally got the air con put on permantly, this would normally cost £5 per day!
Hotel is right on the beach, Liberty's cafe bar the beach cafe, very good however not the cheapest in Icmeler! The lads who work there are all very pleasant and work very very hard, 18-20 hours per day!
Hotel Staff very pleasant and do a excellent job in keeping hotel clean. I would stay there again.

| said: This was my 10th year in Icmeler and my first holiday on my own. I was confident enough about booking a flight only and making my own way to the Mar-Bas Hotel .. even at 7.00am Veli was delighted to see me again. I love Icmeler and have made a lot of friends in the town.
The Mar-Bas started refurbishing their rooms last year and all rooms will be ready for 2006. Their 'show room'#324 looked really nice. The maids were always smiling and I had to smile when I read an earlier post about them. I intend to return to Icmeler and the Mar-Bas every year, out on Mehmet's and his son Farouk's boat at 10am, a morning dip followed by a nice hot apple tea. Fabulous lunch, more swimming, relaxing music and back to port at 5pm with an obligatory Raki, followed by some on-board singing and dancing.
Cannae wait.

This hotel could very easily be 4/5 star if the rooms were refurbished ,it would not be a exorbitant cost to the owners as the fabric of the hotel is first class

Wonderful marble staircases
Beautiful foyer
Tremendous staff
I can pay no greater compliment to this hotel and to Ichmeler itself that my wife ( a notorious " home bird " desperate to go home after a few days every holiday we've had ! ) did not want to come home and a had a tear in her eye on departure day .........
An absolutely fabulous relaxing holiday and I would recommend this hotel to anyone
P.S. I understand refurbishment is taking place during the winter during the winter and look forward next year to seeing the improvements and the lads from the "Liberty bar "

| said: The hotel has a perfect situation, right on the beach.
The hotel overall is spotless, however the rooms could do with a renovation and the pool is a little too deep (12ft) with no shallow end so is not very good for non-swimmers and small children.
Every single person in the hotel was polite and friendly whether they could speak English or not and made you feel at home. The staff in the hotel were sweeping and mopping the floor continuously 24 hr a day.
The guys who run the Liberty bar (attached to the hotel) are absolutely excellent and cannot be faulted one single bit. They work immensely hard from morning till night to ensure that you have a superb holiday. Serving you around the pool, beach and restaurant. They absolutely LOVE kids and entertain them and make them feel really welcome.
Beach service is second to none.
I would definitely visit again.

| said: The location of the hotel is excellent. It offers easy accesability to the town, as the dolmus (local bus) stops outside the hotel, although the town is easily in walking distance even if you have restricted walking abilities like myself.
All the staff, especially the Liberty boys make you feel welcome all day every day. The beach is a stones throw from your room and the beach service for food and drink is great. We enjoyed it so much we are returning in 2005!!!

| said: Just returned from an excellent holiday in Turkey. It is a beautiful country, the turkish people are so friendly. The hotel sits in a beautiful bay on a private beach. The staff serve you on the beach providing an excellent service at all times. The Mabas hotel is a clean hotel, in need of refurbishment in the bedrooms especially the bathrooms. The breakfast supplied is buffet style, mostly cheeses, bread, eggs etc. I would recommend you do not go half board as there are excellent restuarants in Iclemar. We never had a bad meal and the service was excellent.

| said: This was the 5th time we have stayed in The Marbas. The only reason that we have not gone back to the Hotel, but have been back to Icmeler 3 times since, is that the hotel is not child friendly for our now 4 year old.
The Hotel is kept very clean, but yes does need refurbishing in places, some of the rooms have been already.
The Turkish Breakfast is prety good & better than most you get in med resorts.
The Hotel is in a perfect beach side location with fantastic views.
The hotel staff, in particular the bar & beach staff are excellent, in fact we still return to the beach bar even when staying in other accomadation.
Entertainment is not really provided by the Hotel, just relax!
Yes we would stay at the Hotel again, but not with our child.

| said: The Marbas is a great hotel in a wonderful location right on the beach and close to the main resort area.
It is quite small with a friendly atmosphere.
The rooms are very clean though basic but the views from the balconies are lovely, you can see right across the bay to Marmaris.
The food is very good indeed.
The staff are exremely friendly and helpful and will bend over backwards as they say to ensure you have a good holiday.
We are going again in September 2005.
