| said: First off, All Inclusive is'nt. We couldn't get small bottles of drinking water (availble for people on half or full board to buy), a glass of water was offered or if you had an empty bottle they would offer to fill that for you. The food in the 'Restaurant' was bland and greasy. Grilled slices of steak were like rubber and the fruit juices at breakfast were diluted 1000 to 1. Tea to drink is only available at breakfast time and not with other meals and there is no such thing as soft boiled eggs, no matter what the signs say! The quality of the local alcohol drinks is poor. We were All Inclusive and thought there would be ample choice of snacks, wrong. The snack option was only available from the poolside bar between 4 and 5 pm. The choice was either a sandwich of dry bread with cheese and a small round slice of ham or a wafer thin pizza, very disappointing. There was a comprehensive snack menu available but anything from this had to be paid for.
The outdoor pool is quite pleasant but very loud music is played so you don't get any peace and quiet if that is what you are after. Fortunately we had noise reducing headphones which made our sunbathing oblivious to surrounding noise. The sunbeds are not that comfortable although they are free.
I needed access to the Internet and tried for 5 days without success to purchase the cards from the hotel reception. Each time, I was told 'tomorrow', but 'tomorrow' never came. I got internet access from the adjacent hotel (5 dinar for 30 mins) the trouble was that the keyboards are in Arabic and English with sometimes 4 symbols on one key. You can imagine the problems trying to find your way around the keyboard and enter passwords/codes etc. None of the staff were available to assist.By the time I had managed to access my accounts I had run out of time (and I am computer literate)
The 'Entertainment' was abysmal so be prepared for that. A bingo session took place and you pay 10 dinar for one game to win 40 dinar, there were over 20 people playing (therefore 200+ dinar) so someone is making a good profit!
The hotel room was acceptable with plenty of hot water all of the time and the towels were replaced each day. Our holiday rep. 'Jamie' from First Choice was very helpful. We would probably not go All Inclusive again due to our experience at this hotel but instead go for the Half Board option. We would not visit this hotel again nor would we reccommend it to anyone.

We found the food to be delicious and our waiter was very friendly and gave us great service. We did have a warm week and this always makes your holiday better.
We found the Animation team to be fantactic. We enjoyed the volley ball on the beach especially. Those guys went out of their way to make everyone feel happy including us ladies over 40 and they were very respectful to us all and we felt looked after by them. They made our holiday just that little bit more special so thankyou lads.
The staff in general were as helpful as can be and always had a smile for us.
There were a lot of families there that week and it was lovely to see everyone looking after each other.
We had a fantastic time and have already booked to go back for two weeks in May. I would recomend this to all my friends.

Rooms were cleaned daily and although basic and a bit tired looking the rooms were ok. The maid was making sure she got her tip though even with do not disturb sign on door on the last day of our stay (because I was very unwell and in bed) took no notice and actually came into bathroom whilst i was chucking up down toilet and asking for her tip!!!!! Staff were ok but entertainment staff only wanted to know and speak to you if you were under 25 single and female. very poor entertainment whole week, and as there is no where outwith hotles to really go we ended up just going to bed early because of sheer boredom. Mary the rep was excellent. Dont drink Bhouka the local drink which is like paraffin or lighter fuel. Also dont go the Medina unless you like being intimidated and scaed for your safety

| said: Very close to the airport which is the first bonus, we were the 2nd drop off and it only took about half an hour to 40 mins transfer.
When we arrived at 1 in the morning, we were put in a terrible room which was directly above the kitchens and all you could hear were air con machines whirring, but we were told by the reception staff that we would be moved to another room in the morning - this of course stopped up from relaxing from the offset, not being able to unpack etc. When we got there it was pitch black, no bar open, no way of getting a drink except for walking to the main road where there is a shop open (slightly disconcerning when you dont know the place in the dark)
We were moved to a better room, after a slight argument in the morning with different staff, but as soon as I mentioned the toilet did not flush we were immediatly showed another room. We ended up on the 2nd floor facing the pool and palm trees and you could just see the sea, much better.
The rooms are basic and slightly tatty but were kept very clean by the friendly maids. We were advised by the rep to tip the maids at the end of your stay (2-3 dinas a day) we gave her 12 when we left. (£6)
There is no safe in the rooms, you can hire one behind the reception for a price. We ended up locking our valubles in our cases.
We arrived half board and were able to upgrade to all inclusive for £180 for both of us for 6 days.
The restaurant is plesant and the food is good, a variety every day except for the breakfast which was the same every day, but you could have the option of freshly cooked omlettes or pancakes. Cook your own toast, always scrambled and boiled eggs.
Lunch and dinner were varied, they tend to like Turkey rather alot, we possible had all forms of turkey whilst there! Only dissapointing thing was that you had to share a table with another couple if you were in twos. In the end we just moved to another table if they were already there. There were always alot of free tables.
Nightlife: dissapointed that there wasnt a buzzing town within walking distance, you had to get a taxi. No beach front with bars etc which you would expect. Nothing much to do at night at all. On our last night we ended up in the Hotel Night Club which was funny, alot of Tunisian men in there and they are very friendly. Very hot in there but it was a laugh after a few drinks and this was Saterday night, so I have no idea what it was like the rest of the week or even if it was open.
Overall a great place just to relax, with it being so near the beach was the best bit, I never went in any of the pools, just the sea.
Went on one excursion to El Djem which was ok, the journey back in the bus was long though.
Really close to the beach which was the best bit. You got a ticket for your sunbeds from the beach bar and as long as you keep your towel on them they stay there all day. Bar on the beach where drinks were served for all inclusive, if you want a snack you need to pay via a card you can credit and purchase at the reception.
Sunbeds were uncomfortable and seem quite old.
Alot of sales people on the beach, becareful when you first go there, they target people who look like they have just arrived. Dont taste anything or let them put jewellry on you or hats, once they have they ask for money and sell to you. Luckily they can only canvas the beach front and cannot come into the area where the sunbeds are. You do get people form the resort trying to sell you watersports around the sunbeds (which looked fantastic) and camel rides etc.
Beach very clean. Funny keep fit classes happen in the sea around 11am, it was such a funny sight when we first saw it.
The pool is quite crowded and they do play loud music all day, the pool has water slides for kids and adults, and again a bar at the pool and an all inclusive buffet at this bar around 3pm.
You can use any of the other pools next door either side, we found Marbaha Club hotel next door had a lovely quiet and attractive pool. We didnt try any of the others.
We were told that all inclusive staps could be used in the other hotels for drinks but the only one which worked was the Marhaba Club which has a quiet reception and was nice to sit there having a drink for a change.
Bocca Beach Bar at the back of the club hotel is nice, but very pricey! Looks over the beach and is very modern, you have to pay though. Cheapest drink was a beer.
Gardens are pleasant, but be warned! if you are a woman and you want to wear heels, the paths are terrible to walk on, very stoney.
Staff were very friendly, but the entertainment in the hotel was poor, they made an effort but not quite enough. It was bearable.

Spoke to the receptionist and we were moved straight away to a room right opposite a lift.
Food good, lots of variety although some of the waiters were toooooooooooooooo friendly, uncomfortably so sometimes.
Rooms were immaculate and the maids always came back if you were in your room.
Animation team were great, friendly yes, too friendly not at all. Spent alot of time amusing the kids even when they probably werent in the mood.
Me and my sister are going back again in 2 weeks.

| said: Mixed bag is the only way to describe this hotel. The food and waiters were excellent. The room we had was immaculately cleaned every day and although basic was the usual Tunisian standard for the price. Thomas Cook Rep very good and all the staff (except the animation team but more on that later) were polite, helpful and not just after tips, in our opinion. Location is good and Sousse and Port El Kantoui are easily accesible by taxi or Noddy Train. Beach is just through the gardens and apart from thousands of tourists fag butts is cleaned every morning and has lots of water sports and sun beds available. We did parascending, pedalo's and sea canoes and felt they were all good value.
The bad was truly bad though. It was ramadan so we were hoping our 17 year old daughter would get some respite during day light hours - not a chance! The animation team were feral and the majority of activities didn't take place as they were too busy getting women to sleep with them. Sadly many English women are only too happy to oblige and so they think all English women are up for it (thanks girls!!). One little lad was telling one of the animation team it was his birthday only to be totally snubbed as the animation team decided it was time to push bikini clad women in the pool. The only activity that did happen every day was aqua aerobics which ended in a very sexually explicit dance by the pool. Children as young as 6 were taking part and parents were actually encouraging children to do it. I am not a snob but I found it offensive and cheap and if a similar dance was suggested in the UK by teachers/ scout masters etc the Sun would be screaming "padophile" headlines. The music was too loud, boring and repetitive and the pool was dangerous. The whole area became slippery when wet (it's a swimming pool near a beach does water come as a surprise?)and numerous people had nasty falls, including my daughter. Also, the "life guard" is too busy ogling bikini clad babes and people jumping off the bridge and swimming under the slides make it even more dangerous. Finally, the other guests, it is the English (I am English and wasn't proud of it) that come out at 630 to reserve sun beds and umberellas, it was the English women who swore loudly, gossiped inappropriately and found it hilarious to belch loudly and snipe at other guests and the English who were rude to staff. There are three pools you can use but one of the others is used mainly by families with small children and the other has a two foot surround above the water level.
If there was a quieter, nicer pool I would definitely stay again.

The hotel was clean, the rooms were clean and if you asked the maids for fresh towels they give fresh towels every day. Don't forget to tip at the end of the week.
Unfortunately if you are all inclusive you don't get waiter service(unless you tip well). But if you are half board you get amazing service. You only need to tip 1 or 2 dinars per day to the waiters by the pool to get a great service. It's also a good idea to tip the pool guy daily, then he'll make sure you get a good spot each day.
The food is great and the waiters are really friendly and helpful. Its better to tip the waiters in the dining area at the end of the week. Usually about 10 dinars minimum.
The hotel is right on the beach, the pool is lovely and has three water slides.
As half board customers we had no complaints it was the best holiday we've been on.

| said: We booked this holiday on the advice of a work colleague and after reading some of the reviews were a little bit aprehensive.
No need. The public areas are clean and well maintained, the pool is great with 3 water slides and a good mix of shallow and deep water, young kids pool with their own slide. The beach is infront of the hotel and is soft white sand with a gentle slope into the sea.
The room are a bit "tatty" with cracked and chipped floor tiles but they are immaculately clean and are serviced every day. Most rooms overlook the pool and/or sea. Request an upper floor for the best views and to avoid the crawlies!!
The waiting staff at the bar and restaurant are friendly and helpful and - yes - they love to be tipped! Just like they do in the UK really! I would agree that tipping at the end is best except for the pool attendant. Tip him a dinar or 2 (50p - £1) daily and he will make sure you have beds exactly where you want them!
The buffet had a good variety (don,t forget this is a 3 star hotel) and I personally don't understand why people say it is repetetive. Although if you choose to only eat the pizza and chips each night it will be!
The entertainment is a bit amateur but hey, you're on holiday so go with the flow and have a laugh with them.
I would happily return to this hotel. It was very reasonably priced and did what it said on the tin.

| said: Marhaba Hotel is poorly represented in some of the old reviews... It is what you make it...& My boyfriend & i had a brilliant time!
We picked this hotel because it seemed to be one of the best all inclusive 2 week deals i've ever come across. It really really was amazing value for money.
The food was excellent, a wide variety every day. Sure... if your fussy you might moan that the baked beans are slightly more similar to kidney beans, but really.. where the food was concerned there isn't much to complain about..:) You could line up for omlettes cooked right infront of you.. or freshly made crepes and choco sauce... mmmmm. Pizza Stations, Salad stations, desert stations, meat and chips & EVERYTHING.. and ... well.. you get the picture..
The Hotel cleanliness was standard. The main entrance is kept very clean, (marble cleaned everyday) along with the pool and all the bars.
I had a little trouble with my maid however, and got slightly irritated that they 'EXPECT' tips. ( I hugely advise ONLY tipping at the end...)
The entertainment was watchable.. (if you know what i mean) .. it was very low budget but turned out to be good fun most nights.. the entertainment team were great.. and all worked really hard to ensure that everyone had a great holiday...
I miss the bar staff so much.. and the little man that gets your sunbed's for you... all the staff were really accomodating, i'd definitaly like to go back again soon and say hi...
If you are fussy however.. and arn't prepared to have anything to get in the way opf ruining your holiday... then get ready for the following:
- Water: If you are all inclusive- you are only allowed bottles of 'GAS' water. Not Still. (Still water in plastic cups only)
- Bar: 2 Drinks at a time
- Waitors: DO NOT WAIT ON YOU if ALL INCLUSIVE... give them a hefty tip and they are your best friend
- Half Board priority- If you are half board you get given priority over the all inclusive.. the waitors hang around to try and get tips...
- Maids (EXPECT TIPS)
- English People are OUTNUMBERED LARGELY.. Russian, French, Czech, Italian... however.. the english people tend to stick together.. we met some amazing people out their.. a family of 10 from leeeds, a family who live really near us, and a couple of young guys from yorkshire and liverpool.. (It really did give us a chance to make friends...)
Dining Room: DESIGNATED TABLES.. (very annoying some nights.. NO AIR CON... AHH!
If i think of anything else.. i'll type it out.. But Please guys.. all the annoying things can be worked around.. buy a card if your all inclusive to buy water on..... Please go to the Marhaba Hotel.. it has so much to offer..!!

| said: My wife and I stopped here on a late deal with Thomas Cook. Thankfully it did not cost me much, or else I would have been very unhappy. We had to swap rooms after the 1st night due to building works; key was waiting for us, obviously they knew there would be guests wanting to move. We heard of two others in same position. Also the pool was closed for the 1st half of our week.Food was luke warm and quite poor. Be prepared for a Dinar experience, common phrased, “it’s only a Dinar” For the Sun loungers or short changing you because they had no change.
Although we did not see any there was apparently cockroach problem in some parts of the hotel. It is a very tired hotel, the worst in the group. Flaking paint, uneven pavements and broken flower pots. This is a very smokey hotel, when we were there 85% of guest and staff smoked. A blue haze was evident wherever you went. Staff were helpful and friendly in this complex. There are four hotels sharing the area, Marhaba Hotel (us), Marhaba Beach and Neptune were in our group, all supposedly 3 star. There was also Marhaba Club, this was a four star hotel (Bar 20% cheaper than ours?) much better entertainment and far, far less smokey and cleaner. To buy food or drinks you have to put money on a credit card system and worked in all hotels in the group (not Marhaba Club).
Generally the staff were up for a laugh, still they had to really. They all got even friendlier on our last day! Would not go back to this hotel.

The entertainment was dire and the entertainment team were more than a little smarmy.
very little information (hotel, travel, local area)
hotel has a no cash policy, you need to get a card from reception (5 dinar diposit) and charge it with cash. good idea but would have liked to be told rather than getting to the beach only to be told i needed a card..get card..back to beach...told to go back to bar at the pool to pay for sunbed and towel...back to beach with ticket...told that he only does sunbed have to go back to poolside for towel!!!....aaaaahhhhh. This hotel is good for the price you pay. I mean you can go self catering or half board, full board and all inclusive.Either ways its rather good value for money.
The Cleanliness of the hotel was very good. The maid service was everyday. the towels got changed everyday the bed everyday too. She would even fold our clothes neatly if they was on the chair frm the night before. Marajia Our maid was for the whole 2 weeks. She had a nice Tip at the end of our stay. Funnily enoguh she even remembered us the next time we went.
If you like Eggs then you will be fine. What was on offer for breakfast i would have had for my dinner or tea. Fish, Rice pudding, Salads, Chicken, The only thing wrong with it that there was nothing for english people. And if you like german sausages with a spicey taste then you and the food will get on fine. Personally i think the food was descusting. I survived on one meal a day which i payed for around the pool. Which was very nice. About 3 dinars for chicken nuggets and chips. Very cheap i think.
The location of this hotel is really good. Its in the middle of everything and only a 2 minute walk passed the pool and down through the gardens to the beach. Taxi's are also cheap about 3 dinar to the madina.
Hotel staff are very friendly. and they will help you in anyway they can. Mostly are out for the tips but usually 50p would cover the help sucha as suit cases being taken to the room.
The Entertainment is amazing. In the nights the Shows are mainly Audience participation appart from a fakir show and fire spitting, belly dancing and they even did irish dancing. The mini disco was a blast with the adults and children. Half hour of fun. After a show like Miss Marhaba or Mr Marhaba they put on the club dances. bomba, Mueva La Colita and pipipipippipip. Great times they are.

| said: It's now 5 times we've been to this hotel and we're planning on going back again as soon as we can. We went half board again but i think i would like to try All inclusive next time to see how of a difference it makes to the amount of money we spend.
The food in the hotel is good, but still needs a little more thought into the variety on the menu. We love the location of this hotel as it is close to everything, plus there's a small shop at the entrance to the hotel which is open almost all night.
Again this year the staff were great, the waiter Zubar is just the nicest man ever. He remembers us every year and had a table set up for us every night right infront of the stage so we had the best view of the shows.
The entertainment team this year were great. They arrived at the hotel 4 days before we left last year, after a disaster with 2 entertainment teams last year. Don't get me wrong the shows still need a little work, but you can see how hard they all try to do the best they can. And to be honest the shows were actually quite funny. Abdu, Angel, Joe, Simo, Mimo & Alex (bibo) were great, they played football with our son almost every day and really made our holiday a good laugh.
We are hoping to return again very soon.

| said: We went to the Marhaba in Aug and had a FAB time.
This was mine and the childrens first holiday abroad and we couldnt have chosen a better place to have gone.
The staff were extremly friendly and helpful, always smiling and worked hard all day!!!!!
The food was good, we were never bored, the cakes were my favourite.
There was constant entertaining from the animations team with water polo and aqua aerobics and plenty for the kids.
I loved the medina although I can appreciate it can be intimidating to some people, but I loved the banter and the haggling with the tunisians.
My 15yr old daughter was ogled constantly and was unable to go to the beach on her own, but the locals were respectful and never rude/obtrusive.
All in all we had a great holiday and will deffinatley be going back.
Expect to tip approx 1 Dinar (40p) but its no hardship as things are so cheap there it was no big deal.
We spent 1/2 of what we budgeted and did all the activities.
We did the 2 day Sahara Adventure, tiring but well worth it! Not to be missed.
We also did the pirate ships, paragliding, jetskis,African Dream and more, all good value for money, and if you want to save a bit go with the local opperators as this can save you money and you get more time.
I hope your holiday is as enjoyable as ours was.
We will be back there in 2009.
Enjoy!!

| said: Hotel Marhaba is an old hotel. They haven't got any safe's big enough for a laptop or a big camera. The sewage smell (in some places) and the chemicals used by the cleaners was awful. The restaurant didn't switch on the air conditioners although the temperature was over 30 degrees and they didn't even have any fans. The lifts were out of order constantly especially one of them in particular which only worked around three times on our fortnight long stay. The swimming pool was not cleaned properly. The food just ok. You can't expect it to be special. Nobody came to change the toilet light bulb although we reported it for two days. Luckily, this was the end of our holiday. The cleaners also didn't sweep the floor everyday although they changed the bed sheets. The entertainments were a bit boring except the Tunisian folk dancing.
The good points are the location is excellent. The beach was unexpectedly close to the hotel.

| said: This is the 4th time we have stayed in this hotel and we would go back again.
Last year when we were here the excellent entertainment team were sacked and really spolied our holiday. This time the new, not very expereinced and lazy team we had were also sacked. However, I must say by the time we left the new team were a sucess.
The cleanliness is fine overall but the carpets in the hallways really need replaced.
The quality of the food here is great however the selection of variety was poor. We did complain this year about the food because we were tired of seeing the same selection for breakfast every day. We knew the head waiter from previous holidays and he was fabulous, he told us anything at all we would like for breakfast he will do his best to get it for us and sure enough the next morning we had scrambeled egg on toast brought to our table. We love the location of this hotel.
You can easily walk into the centre of Sousse and with a very short taxi ride (about £2.oo) you can get to Port el Kantoui, plent to do all round the hotel. Not to mention you can get right onto the beach in less the a minute from the pool.
As always the staff were 5*. It was so lovely to go back here and the staff remember you, they are so very kind and generous, we were made to feel really welcome.
We have planned to go back to Tunisia again next year and no doubt it'll be our 5th time staying at the Marhaba.
The only warning I have for you is Watch out for the Russians!!! They eat everything and push in the queues all the time, it's the only thing on this holiday that really made my blood boil they were that bad. And even the Tunisians made it clear that they were not liked by many inluding alot of the other guests.
Overall this is a good hotel with great staff. Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

While the cleanliness and staff were excellent the rooms were very basic and in need of some attention. All carpets were in very bad condition.
This hotel was not good for me due to the fact I have a severe back and hip condition. Although there was a lift to all floors it was extremely difficult to get to the dining room as it was on the lower floor with two flights of stairs.
The pools and beach were also difficult to reach due to very uneven and steep paths. The entertainment was dreadful to the point of being embarrasing.
All staff were very curteous and friendly and rooms were kept very clean but I really would'nt recommend this hotel to anyone.

| said: We booked this package holiday very cheaply 180 pound each. So we were expecting the worst. I am pleased to say that all in all this a good hotel.
The rooms are basic, but very clean with loads of storage space. Maid services everyday. The hotel corridors are a bit shabby and let the hotel down a bit, but honestly, how long do you spend in a hotel corridor?
The entertainment was basic just an annimation team of four lively young men, who I must say were friendly to all and tried to get everyone invloved if they wanted to be. The food was hit and miss although you could always find a decent meal amongst what was on offer.
Look out for the omlette and pasta chef, who we ate from most days. Also makes lovely pancakes for breakfast every morning if wanted. The pool area was nice, but the pool was freezing, really got the blood pumping.
The hotel lounges and bars were really nice with very friendly staff. (If you buy the head barman a Boukha he's your friend for life.) All in all this hotel is great value for money. Sunbeds are a 40p a day and the safety deposit box was very cheap too. 40p a day.
You do have to put up a deposit but you get this back with no hassle. Oh and the hotel gardens are massive and lovely to walk through.
Just a 10 min walk through the gardens and your on the beach.

| said: We have just returned after a two week stay over Xmas and I have to say everything was fab!
We loved all the food there was always a lot of choice and always displayed well and hot, you could even swap to lunch instead of evening so you could eat out in the evenings, which we did a few times.
The staff were excellent always there if you needed them helpful in everyway possible, and we didn't tip until the end so its not just so they get tips!!
The hotel itself is very grand in the reception area, the rooms are large with loads of storage, and beautiful views of the pool and sea. They were cleaned everyday and linen changed 3 times during the 2 weeks and towels changed everyday, which did have a sort of strange smell to them but perhaps they don't use Lenor!!!
Some areas in the corridors, the carpets are a little mucky, but hey, you only walk through them and hotels don't generally have carpets in corridors!!
The entertainment was okish...but we went to Tour Khalef a lot as its part of the complex and we had friends staying there.
The Xmas gala dinner was the best, 7 courses, all lovely, we left on New years Eve so missed that one which we were totally gutted about, but we have already booked to go next Xmas and New Year as its so good value for money, but if you want 5* then pay for 5*!!! Instead of paying for 3* and expecting 5* then slagging it off when you return home!!
We would definetely recommend this hotel, we love it !!!!

Please for the good of your health and sanity, do NOT say here. We managed 1 night and got out as fast as we could.
The rooms are dirty and stunk of damp, the air-con didn't work in two of the four rooms we were offered. I would bet that the towels were the same ones the previous guests used. The coridors were dirty and (until we asked) unlit and with the lift not working the stairs were dangerous.
The hotel staff were rude and unhelpful and didn't care about anything and on more than one occasion 'couldn't' speak English, and would then chat to the next guest in English happily.
Be aware that we also has some childrens plastic sandles stolen from by the pool.
Finally, take great care with the balcony light, the bulb was dead so I thought I'd change it as reception didn't understand. The bulb was held to the wall with two bare wires!
Not a bad list for a stay of less than 20 hours!

The hotel was generaly clean and tidy but the rooms were very basic and not very clean.
The cleaners dont do much cleaning as far I could see and the towels stank of sweat and damp everyday Im sure they just swapped them between rooms.
The food was lovely though and we enjoyed every meal, but the choice for the children was very limited and we had to suppliment their diet with crisps from the local shop.
We also had a bag stolen from the pool side so be on the lookout and dont leave bags unattended even for a minute....You dont want to go through the police station farce I had to go through just to get a report reference for the insurance.
Over all we did enjoy our stay here but have stayed in a lot better three star Hotels than this. And we would highly recommend the two day sahara safari.

We found the cleanliness of the rooms not too good this time. The towles were smelly (DAMP!!) and the bathroom rarely cleaned. However, the food as always was brilliant. And the staff cannot be faulted always friendly and chatty.
The location is great, a small shop at the hotel entrance is great for those midnight snacks. The entertainment team changed while we were there and both our party and many other guest were very annoyed and disheartned with both attempts at Sams Team's replacement. Sam's team were very friendly, smiley, great with kids and put a good show on. It was a shame to see them go.
I hope the hotel can get it's act together because by the time we left there had been petitions and complaints put to the management due to the changes that were made. Despite this we had a great holiday and we would go back in hope some changes had been made. And the lifs should be working!!!!

Tunisians are very driven by tips so have change on you at all times. going out side the hotel down the road you will find loads and loads of taxis, bargain before you get in - but its so cheap anyway.
The hotel itself is right on the beach, as we went in march it was a bit cold but I would imagine in the summer it being very hot.
Although I have been to Tunisia and Sousse now, I would not return only because there is alot more of the world to see, not putting Tunis down but been there done it!
Also do the 2 day Ttunis tour to El Jem and where star wars was filmed, it was the highlight of our holiday.

The hotel food was pretty average and generally all the staff okay except the cleaners (the first week of our 2 weeks stay the cleaners never showed up until 3pm on average but the second week things improved). The rooms were cleaned to an average standard.
The entertainment was absolute rubbish unless you liked the boom! boom! type music. I asked the team for a change of music as most of us "oldies" didn't like it but there was no change.
Also there are no lifts in the hotel, but they were building the lift shafts (2)whilst we were there. So there is plans for a badly needed lift system in the hotel.
So if you are in a wheelchair or on walking sticks don't go there.

| said: Thank god the weather was spectacular because this hotel was the pits. After walking up and down 74 steps (yes, count them folks!) we were put in a room that stunk of cigarette smoke and the toilet smelt of urine. On closer inspection, the toilet also had dry sick in the bowl and there was mildew in the bath. Within 5 minutes of our arrival the chambermaid burst in and ignored the fact that I was stark naked (I had to get on that wonderful beach asap!) which I found most uncomfortable and rude. We kept our Do Not Disturb sign on the door throughout most of our stay as they wander in as they fancy. They actually cleaned nothing - they "made" the beds (I'm capable of making my own) and went through my suitcase. After being asked -nicely- twice to clean the toilet, they did not, instead unhooking the chain so it did not flush at all!
The towels stank of damp and the carpets were unhoovered and also smelt.
All other staff were wonderful though, especially our waiter but the bad outweighed the good.
This hotel does not deserve a 3* rating, the Brits i spoke to there were bitterly disappointed with the hotel and I would advise people not to stay here.

Hotel food is very nice, lay out like a buffey, however staff are there when needed and food is always topped up and is all you can eat yummy!!
Being 19 I would advice this hotel for familys because the hotel is very family orientated and the entertainment put on at the hotel is based around the kids. the entertainment was said to be very good.
Hotel staff very flirty, be frim with them just give a straight forward no!! They will then leave you alone!!! Most staff friendly but do expect a tip not much the equivalent to 5p lets say, if I were you I would tip you get alot more back , eg coffee was served and brought to me and my boyfriend everyday !!

The hotel entrance is beautiful, with a marble staircase and a pleasant sitting area. My boyfriend and I stayed on the third floor, this did prove to be some what tiring, but in the long term, proved to be good exercise.
I would not recommend this hotel if you do not like walking as there are quite alot of stairs. I have to disagree with other reviews about the cleanliness of this hotel, towels were changed regularly, our beds were made everyday and the room was swept and mopped.
The food was fantastic and I recommend that if you stay at this hotel you go half board, you get a superb breakfast and a good evening meal, we had no complaints about the food, and the buffey is all you can eat!!!
Entertainment is aimed mainly towards children and family's, mainly based around the pool, we did not really stay in the hotel at night, but I did hear the shows put on were enjoyable.
The hotel staff which are all men are very flirty with girls, If not two flirty, I had the odd wink, and some men asked to meet me after their shift when my boyfriends back was turned. The staff will expect a tip, but this is not a great deal.

| said: The Hotel itself was of a high standard apart from a number of the staff ! I agree about the maids as the floor was never cleaned leaving it to be dirty for the whole two weeks however they were still pleasant.
We had some trouble with the male staff such as those on reception and in the restaurant as we had two 17 year old daughters travelling with us! They were persistent in calling the girls room and asking them to meet them after there shift for a 'drink'. I answered the phone one evening knowing it would have been one of them, when they realised it was a male voice who had answered, they put the phone down!! That to me does not seem very professional and as a father I was not happy about this!!
But on the whole I did enjoy my stay at the Marhaba Hotel and would recommend it due to its clean pool and excellent food in the restaurant !
P.s During our stay you were offered a free trip for a tour to see how carpets are made and how leather is made. However by accepting the trip me and my family and friends were brought into a carpet shop where for half an hour we were shown about one hundred carpets and the tour was actually a ploy to try and sell us tourists one of there expensive carpets. If you ever experience this you are best just walking out of the so called 'presentation' or else you will be there for hours on end.
I do not recommend this tour!!

Outside the hotel there's a handful of shops and a few restaurants, but Port el Kantoui is 5 mins by taxi and has loads of shops which you can get loads of bargains!
Hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful, my only complaint is that the maid didn't do much cleaning in the room apart from make the beds and change the towels.
The entertainment staff were great, a kids disco every night followed by a show, which changed regularly so didn't become repetitive and boring.
Would recommend this hotel, we are going back next year.

| said: I have stayed in this hotel previously but found it had deteriorated somewhat since then. That said, part of it is about to be renovated and lifts are now being installed, which should be completed later this year.
The main reception and dining areas are bright and pleasant, though some rooms leave a lot to be desired. The corridor off reception leading to some bedrooms is drab in the extreme and the rooms there are shabby. My original room overlooking the pool (319) was much newer but a long walk up and down steps so I asked to be moved and got room 12,off this corridor, which could best be described as 'adequate'. There are a lot of steps in the hotel, both inside and down to the pool and beach area, so it is not really suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.
The staff were lovely and very friendly and I couldn't fault them, with the exception of my chamber maid who, apart from making the bed and changing towels, did very little in the way of cleaning, except for removing the last of my soap a couple of days before I left, so that I had to get some more from reception. If the same happens to you, remember the French for soap is 'savon' - I forgot and it took ages to make them understand.
Meals were quite reasonable and all the meat was lovely, with no fat or gristle. Choice of vegetables was sometimes odd - rice is lovely and most days they have chips or saute potatoes. Deserts are mainly cakes, though we did have ice cream one day and beautiful strawberries on another occasion. The bread is gorgeous so most mornings I had bread, butter and apricot jam for breakfast, followed by lovely pancakes with lemon or chocolate, which was better than the scrambled eggs (either sloppy or 'one slice or two'). Cups of tea were the best I've ever had in Tunisia.
Entertainment did not really start until the last few days of the holiday but no doubt it will pick up later in the season. You can, however, use any of the other hotels in the complex. The pool area is very pleasant and the bar there, where you can also get snacks, is nice - I do not recommend the lasagne though.

| said: We stayed in the Marhaba Neptune it was disgusting. The hole complex smelt of sewerage.
The room was basic and tatty, the bathroom was full of cockroaches, the water from the taps and in the toilet was a rusty yellow colour.
The pool was impressive but we didn't risk going in because of the state of the water in the room.
The staff were fairly friendly.
We went in to the night club when i went in to the toilet half of the dance floor came in with me.
Do yourself a favour and stay well clear of the place.
