| said: Unfortunately this hotel has deteriorated further since last October although the staff are still helpful and pleasant as always. The food can best be described as passable, though breakfasts are inadequate and the tea is undrinkable. No way does it warrant 4* rating. Had I booked through a travel agent and paid full price I would have felt justified in complaining.
There was little entertainment, except a 'band' a couple of nights. The only lively night was 1st May when we had several Tunisian families staying and everyone from grandparents to little children were singing and playing, but this was promptly stopped before midnight.
It saddened me as the El Hana Residence has seemed like home to me but they have problems at present which I only hope they can solve.

| said: The El Hana Residence is the smaller hotel between the El Hana Beach and the Chems El Hana. I hadn't been there for the past few years although I had stayed a couple of times previously.
Good points first. The situation is excellent, with the beach just across the road (one way traffic but can be a bit noisy). It is an easy walk to the Medina, Soula Centre and lots of banks, shops and restaurants. The room was good (407, overlooking beach and pool) with comfy beds and plenty of pillows, good size bathroom with constant hot water and big white fluffy towels which were changed daily. Soap provided but no shampoo etc., also no hairdryer. Decent chairs and table on balcony. Four floors with two lifts. Ramps provided for wheelchairs, although I wouldn't say Sousse in general is very convenient for people with walking difficulties as kerbs are often steep and they are inclined to plant trees in the middle of pavements!
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the place was very clean. There are three hotels in the complex and guests can use facilities of any of them.
Main meals were generally quite good. Starters of salad or soup from the buffet and a choice of four main dishes served by the waiter. The beef was always good and the fish is excellent. Portions are inclined to be large. There was always at least two flavours of ice cream or sorbet for desert, together with creme caramel and cakes.
Breakfasts were not very inspiring - apart from cheese, tomatoes and salad things there was only one type of cereal, eggs (usually hard boiled), bread, croissants and jam, plus figs and olives! The bread however is lovely and so is the apricot jam, which suited me fine. The waiter brings a pot of tea or coffee and would offer to make toast.
Sun beds are 2 dinars a day in the grounds but there are also plenty of chairs and tables to sit at, often with parasols.
There are quite a few long-stay guests, some who stay for six months. There was no entertainment provided in the hotel at all, though I couldn't find out if this was just because it was the end of the season. As you can visit the Beach or Chems, or any other of the hotels this isn't a problem though.
I will probably return, for the convenience of its position and the friendliness of the staff. Although they obviously knew I was leaving early today the chamber maid never came knocking yesterday as they often do so I was very happy to leave her a tip.

| said: Went twice last year and going again this year. LOVED THE PLACE people were friendly rooms were clean everything was no trouble for anyone.
Entertainers were fantastic, they were hilarious and got people involved. They even went clubbing after and chatted to guests. Made great friends with them (Hi Rico and Hamdi see you in August I'll mail you before I'm over, KEEP THAT BEER COLD FOR ME lol)
Nothing else I can say really but I would definitely recommend.

| said: On arrival our beach view room didn't appear to have been cleaned (bins not emptied, carpet dirty - previous guest's toenails etc) so we asked for room to be cleaned. Cleaner not pleased about having to 'clean' room again.
Eventually we were moved to another cleaner room.
Hard to lie in with noise from hotel corridors.
Food was awful. Buffet style with many unidentifiable dishes of mush. Some other guests seemed intent on stashing supplies of (bruised) fruit leaving none for others. I actually cried at dinner one evening.
Beach cafe attached to hotel did fantastic crepes - which we lived on all week.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all. If anybody was travelling to Tunisia I would suggest they try 5*.

| said: Went here a couple of years ago had one of the best holidays weve ever had.
Staff were so friendly and really made an effort to understand english culture.Beach across the road was amazing and so clean, the white powder sands and clear sea were breath taking.
Only note id make although friendly the locals can be a little too keen to sell, and also be carefull to cover up when you your not at hotel or beach.
Food for vegatarians such as myself was limited but got by.
For the price would recommend
