Just arrived back after two weeks, this hotel and it's sister hotel Abu Sofien was absolutely fabulous.

Staff could not do enough for you.

Food was very good to say they had to cater for so many different nationals, you would have to be very fussy to go hungry.

Good size swimming pool and great beach. I would say if your taking young children the sister hotel would be better has there's more going off.

The animation team did a great job and the shows at night were very professional.

About Port el Kantaoui very nice harbour and small shopping area, most locals very nice but a few did try and rip you off especially over drinks be sure to state small or they will fetch large and charge more than double. also be careful with teenage daughters. There are a few trips etc but only last a couple of hours so don't pay for boats trips and expect a full day out. Water sports are very reasonable and are very safety conscious.

If I had a complaint it would be June/July is too hot and all the tipping even in hotels where you've already paid.

Would definitely go back.

This hotel is in a very good location to everything around it. Turn right for a 20 min stroll to the port or a 5 min taxi ride which will cost you 3 diners (£1.50) or turn left for a five min walk to a supermarket. Also when turning right you will find a lovely golf course 10 mins away.

The hotel staff are really friendly and will go out of there way to accommodate you and help you out! The Animation team are brilliant they kept us entertained with different activities during the day which made the days pass quicker when we had bad weather. The same guys then done the evening entertainment which wasn't great but was watchable so I am giving all credit to them!

The Hotel's public areas were always very clean and tidy, your rooms were also cleaned everyday and new towels supplied. The maids are also very polite and will leave your room until later if you are still getting ready etc.

The food was alright, not a great choice but I think this was more to do with the time of year which we traveled. The snack bar is great for lunch time as the food is freshly cooked for you. You can have one visit to the Italian restaurant and Tunisian Restaurant which I would recommend as it is something different, although I would agree with other comments that the Tunisian is much better.

You can also you the facilities in the sister hotel. The Disco is really good for a late drink and music isn't that bad either.

Advertised by Thomas Cook as Occidental Riviera. Quite a good location as only a 20 minute stroll to the harbour and no hassle from over eager locals on the way. Harbour has some nice little shops, again with very little hassle from the shop keepers. As we were all inclusive we didn't eat or drink at any of the harbour restaurants but some did look quite tempting.

Rooms and public areas of the hotel are kept very clean. Bedroom and bathroom functional but basic, shame that the t.v. only had an english speaking news channel available until lunchtime.

Meals were o.k. and you didn't starve but they were never very hot. Breakfast was about the best meal of the day with fresh pancakes and omelettes. Staff were very good at remembering your favourite tipple and having it ready quickly. We ate in the Tunisian and the Italian restaurant and found the Tunisian far better. The food was served hot and the quality very good. The Italian restaurant had very poor service and the quality of the food wasn't very good.

Evening entertainment was awful and a fight nearly broke out one night when they played bingo for money and then discovered there were no 80 - 89 balls in the machine !
Had a full body & face massage in the health spa for only 20 dinar and it was wonderful.

Weather for the end of February wasn't too bad I suppose, 2 days of sun, 1 day of rain and the rest fair.
Thomas Cook rep "Steph" was one of the friendliest, efficiant reps I have ever met. The Thomas Cook evening out at Sousse "night of a thousand stars" was excellent.
This was our first visit to Tunisia but I don't think I'd be keen to rush back.

Excellent value as we paid very little for the two week Xmas and new year break. The price included the gala dinners on Xmas and new years eve which were superb.

The hotel was fabulous. The room was spacious and cleaned daily. Our only complaint is that the cleaning staff had a tendency to disregard do not disturb card on the door and would just walk in!

The food was acceptable, one has to remember that they cater for many tastes and as such the meals won't please everyone all of the time. My husband and I always found something to eat whatever time of day or night we wanted something. We didn't try the Tunisian restaurant but took advantage of two visits to the Italian and boy was it good!

The staff were all so friendly and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. We walked into the lobby bar and our drinks were poured and waiting for us after just 24 hours (no we aren't alcoholics honest!) The cocktail bar man made us specials every night and gladly came up with stomach settling remedies when I had a bout of indigestion!

Entertainment was at times basic and somewhat Butlins style but still good. The guys work long hours and try so hard to keep everyone entertained and Xmas day saw us taking part in a donkey derby on real donkeys. We felt that everyone made a real effort to ensure we were happy and would not hesitate to go back to this hotel again.

Stayed at the Occidental Riviera hotel last week in October.

After what seemed to us a very short flight with FCA we arrived at Monastir and spent almost an equal amount of time waiting for our luggage!! We had not visited PEK before and after a week in Hammamet several years ago I was quite nervous as to what it would be like. I need not have worried.

Out of the 2 sister hotels it seemed we had chosen the superior one. First impressions were good and my only beef would be that our room (although it was nice) was on the side facing an adjacent hotel and it was also obvious that the balcony would get no sun at any time during the day. I was promised a swap for the next morning but this didn't actually materialise until day 3 and by this time my husband said they could 'stick it'. They sent a bottle of wine up to our room as an apology and this may still be there as we didn't touch it, have to be fair though and say that overall the hotel and the room was good.

The food was OK and there seemed plenty of choice especially the puddings!! The grounds were nicely laid out and a short walk took you through the sister hotel to the beach.

Although we didn't go in it the pool looked very inviting but I did notice that claims to the sunbeds were made very early in the morning. It was probably because it was half term but there seemed to be lots of kids staying here (even more at the sister hotel) and the worst ones by far were the French who let the little darlings jump all over the furniture in the A/I bar at 11.30pm one evening.

There were 2 speciality restaurants on site Tunisian and Italian which you could book once each per week. Didn't get round to the Tunisian but thoroughly enjoyed the Italian.

Animators all seemed to work quite hard with different things going on during the day and evening. Majority of staff were very pleasant and helpful, rooms always clean and in good order.

My advice about the A/I drink is buy a bottle or two on the plane as you're going to need it. My vodka (even with another measure in it) tasted like the teeniest bit of lemonade I had added to it. Nicely situated for a walk into PEK either via the beach or main road. Couple of shops up the road to the right of the hotel including quite a large sized leather shop.

We enjoyed our short stay in PEK at the Riviera and would probably return.

Since May and August 2005, this Hotel, regrettably has gone even lower down the scale of its assumed 4 star rating(Tunisian)

The rooms are beginning to look their age, curtains and bedspreads as Steve Frost remarked, are very shabby and stained and definately due for replacement.

The whole Hotel is in need of refurbishing and during our 14 day stay, we were down to 1 lift on some days, there are only 2 plus a service lift anyway. Staff are very helpful if all of them a little tired especially as the hotel was over run and overbooked with Russians who have no manners and no idea of how to behave.

British Tourists who had booked for the Allegro were being asked on arrival if they would consider moving to other accommodation so the Russianm guests(150) could stay together.

The Pool area is very clean and nice clear water, only problem was the Animation Teams and the constant booming music and requests to join in "Games", most of the guests picked the Allegro for a restful holiday, if you wish for a boistrous holiday you book at the sister hotel behind the allegro called the Abou Sofiane.

Also more alarmingly, there seemed to be a flux of clothing and items being removed from rooms, warning..."DO NOT LEAVE MOBILE PHONES IN YOU ROOM LYING AROUND THEY WILL WALK" management did not seem at all perturbed when these matters were reported.

The Hotel is looking its age and seems to be rather Tired, Food was boring, cold and repetitve and also stomach upsets were rife.

Very dissapointed at the way this hotel has declined in the last 6 months, in fact we have cancelled our May 2006 booking and will be looking elsewhere. What a shame, we have earned red bands which now mean absolutely nothing, these are earned after 5 visits, but are now being issued willy nilly to keep face with angry guests.

Entrance and reception fairly impressive, but rooms, restaurants and snack bars in need of a good clean.

Stained tablecloths, chair upholstery etc does not put you in a comfortable mood for eating especially when the food is limited on choice and poor presentation. Constantly running out of plates and cups, glasses for juice etc, which was dilute pop if you ask me.

Rooms cleaned daily, yes but cleaning already run down rooms doesn't make it comfortable, there was a rusty patch in the bottom of our bath for example that made the water brown for every bath full of water this was cleverly hidden with a shower mat.

Good location in relation to the beach etc, but when beach is not very large, it gets awfully overcrowded.

Entertainment good,it varied each day but this didn't in any way make up for the downsides of the hotels in general.

Stayed at the hotel Allegro Riviera.

The hotel was excellent with beautiful public areas of marble floors and ornate ceilings. It was very clean. The rooms were very nice and cleaned daily, the maids leaving sweets and little notes on the pillows.Towels and bedding changed daily.

The hotel food was excellent with plenty of choice each day.We didn't try the a'la carte restaurants due to having a very fussy grandaughter with us,but everyone we spoke to said they were very good.

The staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for you, very friendly and love children. The animation team were great fun and worked hard all day.The evening entertainment wasn't bad but repeated the second week.
The hotel was situated a couple of kilometres outside port el kantoui but a 20 minute walk or 3-4 minute taxi ride would find you at the marina.

All in all an excellent hotel which we hope to return to next year.

This is our third visit and yet again have had an excellent holiday, the rooms are in good decorative order and beds and towels(2 bath 2 hand bath mat) changed each day.

If the housekeeper sees that towels have been used during the day, when she checks the rooms in the late afternoon, they are changed again.

Staff from the Management and directors down cannot do enough to make your stay so welcome. The Hotel is situated just off the main road, and has its sister hotel the Sofiane in between it and the beach and is sourrounded by very well kept gardens, the beach is a 3 minute walk.

Entertainment is improving all the time and we had some very good quality shows put on thanks to a new show director called Omar.

Food is exellent, very varied and lots of choice, no one in the whole 14 days we stayed reported upset stomachs, now that is good cooking... also you can dine once in the Italian restaurant and once in the Tunisian Style, both excellent quality and choice.

The Director/General of the hotel(s) is called Nadia M'layah and she is superb and always stops and asks guests if they are happy or have complaints. Definately recommend this Hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Friendly, helpfull staff - and plenty of them (and communication didn't prove a problem either). Very clean throughout.

We have 3 teenage daughters, who can be fussy, and we all made full use of the "all inclusive" aspect at meal times, having "seconds" and "thirds". There was enough choice (including pork based!) that if somethings looked a bit "odd" for your tastes, there were plenty of alternatives. This was at the main help yourself buffet style restaurant. We had the option of using the seperate restaurant for a 4 course a la carte but never bothered.

We only went to the evening entertainment, at the "sister" hotel Abou Sofiane once. This isn't usually our scene so its hard to comment, but it did seem a bit naff and conspicuous by being all male performers!

However, we did make use of the daily poolside activities put on - such as belly dancing and water polo, and beach activities available such as wind surfing, canoeing, pedaloes and parascending.

The indoor and outdoor pools were very good.

The hotel was superb.

There was a good selection of food which was tasty and hot and well cooked. The hotel had an offer of a free al a carte meal but this was unnecessary as the normal restaurant food was really good. Drinks, both beer and spirits were weak and "individual" if taken without mixers. Take some duty free for a real "belt".

The staff were always helpful and polite with a ready smile.

No tea making facilities in the room meant a long walk to the drink bar or a wait until breakfast before a start of the day kick start.

The pool was a lovely area and the sea with a daily cleaned beach was about 300 yards away.

Entertainment (in sister hotel Abou Soffaine) was more suited to younger families.

We went all inclusive at the hotel. The first day of food really buffet style wasn’t great but it did improve as the days went by but not that much. We also went to the Italian restaurant which was a 4 course meal that wasn’t too bad. The drinks were very watered down but it was fun to be able to from lots of cocktail (which had different names but were really all the same)and slowly get tipsy. The beer was a bit weak.

The cleanliness of the hotel was surprising. I was very impressed with the way they constantly cleaned. Every day the made the bed and arranged the blanket in a different style which was nice. We left some money for them to say thank you.

The hotel staff were really nice and like to joke around. Sometimes it was difficult to understand what they were saying but we just laughed about it.

We didn’t really experience the entertainment of the hotel but we did watch the fun that they were having at the pool from our balcony. They were very enthusiastic and people participated in the fun.

I would go to this hotel again. I liked it and was very impressed with the staff and hotel.

We arrived at the hotel approximately 11:00pm. Despite the time, we were met by the hotel staff with a cocktail whilst they allocated the rooms. The suitcases were taken to the rooms without any delay. First impressions of the hotel foyer took ones breath away. A fabulously impressive crystal chandelier hung above a water fountain in the reception area. Next to the reception area was a lounge area which too had a just as impressive ceiling. The walls and floors were all marble and everything was immaculately clean.

The rooms were spacious and extremely clean.

Even though it was late, the snack bar was open and we were able to get a hot meal.

The maid service was daily, and each day the bed was made in a different way - it was pure art really. Very difficult to recreate with a duvet at home. Flower petals and sweets were left on the pillows each day. The service was absolutely faultless.

The food was plentiful and extremely varied. Attention to detail was brilliant. There was even a microwave in the restaurant if you thought that the food wasn’t hot enough - although we never felt the need to use it. In the mornings, fresh pancakes with an assortment of fillings of your choice, fresh omlettes with again an assortment of fillings of your choice. In addition to these, there was still cereal, cooked breakfast (although never any bacon due to Muslim religion), but there was everything else!

Lunch was equally as good and evening meal again excellent. Drinks were always available, and although not on par strength wise with our alcohol, if you smiled sweetly at the barman (who we later named Zubin) he was more than happy to give you triple measures and this seemed to achieve the desired effect. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Infact one of the ladies whom we met was celebrating her birthday and the staff presented her with a cake, specially prepared cocktails in decorated glasses and a bouquet of flowers.

Since we returned I celebrated a birthday and received a letter from the hotel wishing me a happy birthday. An altogether fantastic place.

The only downside was the entertainment. It was a little confusing to say the least. On the other hand it has to be realised that the staff have to entertain numerous nationalities and we don’t all have the same sense of humour. Anyway we made our own entertainment.

The hotel is fantastic, staff fantastic and we have booked already for next year. But hey why take our word for it - visit yourselves and you will not be disappointed.

We arrived around midnight to be greeted by baggage handlers and a welcome drink excellent service from day one to the day we left.

Food great choice and poolside food excellent better than the beach side one. Entertainment very poor,a quiet drink and off to bed.

But with lots to do on the beach you need some early nights.Travelled by taxi to Sousse a little scary felt very harrassed in the shopping areas but have learned a good lesson,be firm and say no thank you.

Spend all your currency before you leave for home as it can't be spent insde the airport, only a few shops in the airport entrance to spend odd currency.

go on a diet before you come to this hotel, food is superb, and we were all incl., free tea and coffee ALL DAY TOGETHER WITH SNACKS FROM THE POOL BAR, all excellent., fresh pizzas, lovely., cooked to order.
The staff are first rate from managers right down to the maids, all so polite and attentive., the hotel is excellently laid out, with lovely gardens, super pool area, and plenty of activity in the form of more gentile games, if you want to go completely mad go to the Abu Sofiane the sister hotel, for more lively action. the reception area is traditional Tunisian and the coloured glass around the ceiling is something to be see, when the sun is shining through, if you get the chance ,give this hotel a visit. Our rep Martin Smith from Thomas Cook., knew anything there was to know about Tunisia and was a credit to Thomas Cook, extremely, helpful and courteous.

We have stayed at this hotel a total of ten times over the past 5-6 years.

This hotel has a lovely atmosphere, admittedly it is aimed at a slight older visitor, and is not really suitable for those who expect a lively night life. However, there is a disco based at it's sister hotle the Abou Sofiane.

The hotel is spotless from top to bottom, including the garden and pool areas. The staff are just wonderful, always very helpful and after our many visits there we also get a fantastic reception for the staff.

The dining areas are always very clean. The choice of food is vast, even the most fussiest of eater will find something.

All the rooms are very spacious, and there is a maid service every day.

The main area of the hotel eg. reception, coffee lounge, bars are well looked after.

All in all the hotel is one of the impressive we have stayed in (we had been in 3-4 other hotels over the years). The only downside we have found is the animation team, who are unfortunately lacking in imagination, the same round of shows have been going for many years and repeat visitors have seen them before. Having said that the animation team do work hard during the day with other activites and still have a show to perform every evening.

There are also facilitied for the children (based at the sister hotel Abou Sofiane).

It is a short walk onto the main town, which even at night we felt very safe. The people of Tunisia are very friendly.

We arived at the Hotel expecting a long check in que with a wait from hell but to our amazement were told immediately to go for dinner and all would be ready when we came back.

We finished dinner and hey presto porters had the cases ready for the rooms and one small form later were in our room.

The bar has a first class barman called "Eddie" I think? he can clear a 40 foot bar three deep in under 2 and half minutes without having to ask a second time what you want to drink. He does this throughout your stay WITH RELATIVE EASE.

Shopping is an adveture and if you like barter and haggling youll love the shops. Prices are what you make them. Eddie and his boss like Glenfiddich and your stay can be made more pleasurable with a couple of litres of the tipple.

Shopping can be good with a bottle or two as well.... £90 on the Tunisian black market for a litre bottle of Scots whisky.

Food is good and some dishes are really great. Couscous is marvellous if you like that kind of stuff and the staff are really friendly and cant do enough for you. The bar ran out of diet coke and I went to the desk to complain within 10 minutes the manager appeared with two bottles and promptly delivered two each day to the room until we left. THATS SERVICE.

Animation team are hard working and extremely good at their job. A friendly bunch of guys who made the stay a lot of FUN... their own home grown shows are first class and miles better than the REP NIGHT OUT....
