| said: We were badly misled. It is not bed and breakfast, but food left in the kitchen. The owners are not there. You have to ring them to come.
The accommodation was filthy.
We were promised a view of the harbour, but then put in a room facing a back yard. The owner told us her business partner must have made a mistake with the booking, although she made the booking with me! Then she said he must have given our room to someone else.
We were too disgusted and appalled to stay - the accommodation was a joke. We could not get our deposit back - she told us "he does not like giving people their money back."
Our weekend was ruined. Luckily, we found somewhere near Scarborough.

| said: We stayed at the Harbour View from the 29th Dec to the 1st of Jan for my Husbands birthday and the New Year. We booked this guesthouse on a bed and continental breakfast basis, however the breakfast is a bit of a sham, they leave a basket in the kitchen with bread, crumpets etc. and there are cereals in the cupboard, you have to make your own tea or coffee and fruit juice and preserves are in the fridge.
You do have use of the kitchen so we shopped and made our own breakfast. The rooms are small but reasonably clean, the owners came in and gave it a quick flick round while we were out but didn't empty the bin and we made our own bed each day.
I would not recommend this guesthouse if you are disabled or have difficulty with steps, the staircases are very narrow and twist on to each landing, in fact if you are in the attic room the stairs are also very steep.
The lounge was OK, we sat and ate our breakfast in there each morning as it was nice and warm.
The location is not too bad although it's a good walk into the main centre of Whitby, it's also on the flat overlooking the harbour.
We frequently go to Whitby and visit another guesthouse on a regular basis, unfortunately they had decided to close for Christmas and the New Year this time, that's how we ended up at the Harbour View.
We would not stay here again and don't know how they get away with advertising it as bed and breakfast, we only saw the owner once when she came to let us in, we had to phone her as they don't live on the premises and there was no one about when we arrived, she also wanted paying on arrival which surprised us, normally you expect to pay when you leave.
I feel that the owners are getting a good return for very little effort.

| said: I stayed at the Harbour View Guest house, its the only guest house I know that has a fully fitted kitchen for the sole use of the guests to use at any time ( a great money saver I can tell you )
Clean warm and comfortable with great views and a massive lounge, we stayed on the family floor ( a full floor all to our selfs )
Harbour View must be the future in B n B accommodation.
