| said: Bit worried at first after reading reports however on arriving Hotel appeared ok, nice clean entrance and staff polite and helpfull, we went all inclusive and found the meals ok with a good choice, the problems mainly are around the bar as there is only 1 open during the day and the Hotel is ran on skeleton staff and no one is ever in a rush, so be prepared to wait, the pool is a joke and far to small for the Hotel and the sunbeds well i have never experienced anything like it, we had people lying next to us literally inches away due to the little space,by the way no childrens pool, the main seatting area next to the entertainment area never gets cleaned during the day so there is rubbish all over the place, the entertainment was mainly Spanish focused, apart from the kids mini disco, we have no interest in Spanish dancing every other night, and be warned the place is over run with Spanish, the rooms are excellent and very clean with bedding and towells changed regulary, forget about the lifts as the Spanish kids play with the lifts and no one appears bothered, we would not visit the hotel again, however felt the location was good as it was very central.

| said: Upon arriving to this hotel I was feeling quite nervous as I had read alot of negative reviews about it. I am happy to say that we found the hotel to be of a good standard. We travelled with our 3 daughters and had paid a fab price, so we were going with the thought that if the food was no good then we would go out to eat. But we really enjoyed the food and found that there was a different choice every evening, we never struggled to get a table and it was always clean. Don't get me wrong it was busy!!! The pool area was quite small for the size of the hotel and it could have done with having a childrens pool. It did get busy, but again we never struggled to get sunbeds. The bar area was fab, firstly you had the pool bar, ok, it got busy, but there was always a few bartenders behind it so the queue went down very quickly. Then there was Cafe Griego bar that was open after 6pm, that was never that busy. Then Pepe's bar, that opened after 10.30 and children had to be out by 12am. The selection of drinks was fab, there was everything, but if you wanted branded drinks you could pay half price, which we found very reasonable and the measures were very generous. The entertainment in the evening, we found was great. The kids really enjoyed it. Don't get me wrong if you didn't have kids it really wouldn't interest you. On the whole we really enjoyed this holiday and would definetely recommend it.

| said: First impressions not good, scruffy outside with old and smelly reception area, distinct lack of air conditionoing in public areas.
Our rooms faced pool luckily because the surrounding buildings/area not pretty at all. One room air con leaked and flooded balcony all day, whilst other room (115)air con had broke and smelt musty and damp. Good point though the showers were brill and clean towels.
Upgraded to AI mainly for soft drinks during day as temps over 36. But only pool bar open until evening so queues very long and most of the staff miserable/rude.
The food selection and quality was average with some nights better than others, but the diningroom was awful. It was busy within 15 mins of opening, difficult to find clean table and extremly noisy with ignorant staff and no restaurant manager. There was no (or inadequate) air conditioning and the place was heaving, the queues were long with people pushing in constantly. The hotel appeared to be about 80% spanish guests who tended to sit in large groups pulling tables together shouting and adding to the unpleasant atmosphere. Children all ages allowed to serve themselves at buffet, we witnessed many messing with the food with hands, dropping/spilling stuff, no one appeared to bother. Defo needed alcohol gel at entrance!
No panoramic views from here, quite scruffy residential area, 5 mins walk to shops but long walk downwards with lots of steps for the beach(didn't visit due to another bomb on our 2nd day)
Pool/patio area is too small, I have never done a 'sunbed run' like it. You have to reserve your 'space' with chairs for an hour before they unchain the beds at 9-9.30 then swap them over, beds are far too close together due to lack of space, most unpleasant. The pool was also very busy with no separate kids pool, but did have lifeguard.
Entertainment run by hotel not up to much especially the evening, some would start at 11.30pm.
Would not visit again and glad only had one week here!

Rooms clean, but in low season choose a room above the Restaurant area for maximum sun.
Would we visit again? Most definitely Yes.
Entertainment was a let down, did not keep to publicised times and was predominately bingo!!
Long trek to the beach, down very steep hills. Thankfully there are lifts for the return, but hidden away and not sign posted.

The food was basic, even though repetative, you have the choice of fish, meat, or pasta or salads. People must remember this not the Ritze, it's a 3star.I think a big downfall for the hotel is its location, a good 15 minute walk to the beach, and if you've got kids that's a long way. having said that, it's ideal for the night life, right in the centre of town. The hotel staff were helpfull at all times if you wanted anything.I think the entertainment was very poor, I tried it out twice and each time walked out. If I went back to this resort I would look for another hotel, but if it was a last minute thing, I would go back.

In short food inedible - even breakfast, room too small, view from balcony was like Beruit, resort was filthy, lifts only fit 4 people in and there were 3 lifts for 400 rooms, entertainment was a joke. We were all inclusive but we didn;t eat one meal and got a taxi to Benalmadena every day which was lovley - cost us another £1000 on top of the holiday. All this hotel is short of is a bomb - do not go there. I read the reviews and though it can;t be that bad - well its worse! How this hotel gets a 3 star rating i'll never know and First Choice should be ashamed to have it in thier brochure.

Although the Hotel was relatively clean the food was poor regarding variety (unless you like chips with everything)
Having two children was a problem as the pool is far too small for the size of this Hotel. Therefore we caught taxi's most days down to the beach.
The entertainment was adequate.
This Hotel was bad enough in June I would dread to think what it would be like during peak season !!!!

The food was really good and plenty of it, a lot to choose from, the meals were self service.
The location suited me as it was close enough for shopping and I found the area quiet.
We did not bother with the hotel entertainment, we made our own fun.
Some of the hotel staff were not very helpful, we waited for an hour on a room to get showered before we came home, we had to have a wash in the toilets.
I would visit this hotel again because the food was so good, but half board would be ample.

Glad we did hotel was clean our room was large and newly decorated. The food was OK there was something every meal time you could find to eat. The staff were friendly enough they do like a laugh.
The entertainment is always hit and miss, we managed to get the Spanish pensioners week so it was one song Spanish one in English but they tried.
The hotel is in the town and its quite a walk to the beach, in the town the buses run to a good timetable and the trains are cheap clean and always on time well worth a trip out on.
All in all we had a good time and if the price was right I would definitely go back.

Party of 4 adults 2 children.
Food reasonable not much variety. Room kept very clean, swimming pool gets very crowded, mad dash for sun beds then no room to place them. There is a nice sitting area just back from the pool.
All inclusive the free drinks are not very nice but you can pay half price for the good stuff at the pool bar, food only seems to be available at certain times
not much for the children or adults to do in the way of entertainment during the day, pool a bit on the small side for a large hotel.
Hotel not bad for a 3 star. I don’t think I would go again.

The hotel has 2 things going for it the location and how clean it is kept. The pool was far too small for the amount of guests. The food was always luke warm lucky they was a microwave in the dining area.
Not really for English people as the food was more for the Spanish. The lifts were another story young children messing with them sending them up and down, not very nice when you’re on the 7th floor and have to use the stairs. Most of the staff didn’t have a smile for anyone I went to have a snack to find a waiter drinking lager and having a cigarette where smoking is not allowed in the dining area.
Entertainment was worse than watching paint dry.
I will not be going back to this hotel too many children running about and not being watched in my opinion, very unsafe.

The reviews on this site were mixed to say the least with some damning reviews from the food to the state of the hotel, which I have to say were misleading.
The food was excellent but we still heard complaints from people who you guess won t eat much paella, halibut, duck pate or pork loin back at home.the rooms are cleaned every day,the towels replaced every day and bedding changed 3 times in the fortnight.
A large pool area with an upper terrace and a roof terrace. Didn't stay in for entertainment but it seemed to be the usual Spanish hotel fayre and probably better if you ve got small kids.there are 5 bars in the hotel one being a nightclub open til 3.00 am.
Overall a good value holiday, excellent hotel but Torremolinos is a let down and for that reason I probably won't go back although Benalmadena is a 1 euro/10 minute bus ride away and that's a lot better.

| said: My Partner and I arrived at the Griego Mar on Mar 23rd.
We had only booked it 2 days previously and after booking read some of the reviews listed here.
We were horrified! However when we got to the Hotel we found the Reception area lovely and clean and the staff polite and friendly. We were shown to our room and surprise, surprise it was clean, tidy and probably the average size of any 3 star hotel in Spain, and believe me I've stopped in dozens of them.
The Sun did go off the Pool area at around 4.30pm (this was just before the clocks changed), but there is a sun terrace on top of one of the buildings, so we could sunbathe there till dusk. The food was nothing special but it was adequate, and sometimes very good.
All the bar staff were very friendly and we didn't have to queue for more than a couple of minutes at the most. The location for the beach to be fair is not good, it would be a fair trek for anyone with kids. The rooms were cleaned every day with clean towels and sheets.
I don't know where other people have stayed but the swimmimg pool was large by todays' standards although very cold, but certainly not crowded.
The entertainment could be improved.
We are going again in September.

*The rooms are of a good size and are cleaned very well every day.A TV is supplied (only english channel bbc1)However the walls are very thin and we could here everything that was said next door, not good when there are a lot of small children or indeed noisy adults around!
*The food was adequate, not great but not bad it was hot and the fresh bread was a big bonus.
* During our stay the hotel was 'taken over' by spanish pensioners, we only went to one entertainment evening in the hotel, the 'Parrott show' but this was almost entirely in spanish even tho there were quite a few english families present as well.
*In conclusion this hotel was fine for us as a base for exploring the Costa Del Sol out of season but I would not recommend it for a family summer holiday.
The facilities are not adequate for the size of the hotel (swimming pool capacity 120, hotel has 700+ rooms!)also there are too many steps for wheelchairs or pushchairs.

The hotel staff were miserable and ignorant even when speaking to them in Spanish.
My daughter slipped on the crossing outside the front door and broke her ankle, they were useless and most unhelpful telling us to walk to the hospital. She ended up in a wheelchair for 10 days, yet again no consideration or help was given, oh I nearly forgot they did get us a wheelchair at a cost of £50.
No chance of my family returning to Spain.
However I must praise the housekeeping staff the rooms were kept spotless and clean towels provided daily

Enough of this nostalgia... I found my room adequate cleaned every day and the food was excellent ... Staff were very friendly and understood my Spanglish.. I like the Location as I am not a Beach person.. but families will find the long trek to the beach tiring... The bus station is a short walk with frequent buses to the Playa.. Pay on the bus and do as they do in Spain... do not queue or you will be left on the pavement..
Entertainment in the hotel was good and varied... so enjoy.. but as you are in the Centre of Torremolinos try and explore the local nightlife

| said: Ive just returned yesterday following a 1 week all inclusive stay in this hotel with my wife and 2 boys. (Aged 4 and 2).
The hotel is situated in a residential part of torremolinos which is a bit run down but a 10 minute walk with a pram will take you to the centre of town.
Unfortunately this hotel is absolutely not suitable for young families. The complex is over two main blocks and unless you were willing to change lifts at level R and walk around the packed pool area then you have to carry yor pram up some steps.
Despite making contact with our tour company twice before we left to ensure we had a family room, this did not happen. We were allocated what was effectively a double room with two camp beds situated on either side of the double.
This meant that there was almost no free floor space and only one person could walk about the room at the time. We had a view of another block of flats and directly below our room was a collection of rubble. We didnt get a lot of direct sunlight into the room so it didnt heat up as much as it could have during the day which was fortunate as the air conditioning was non existent.
The hotel boasts 414 rooms so it is a big hotel however the communal areas were totally inadequate for the volume of people. The pool area was absolutely packed and was not suitable for young children. ( No separate childs pool.) We went all inclusive and this is probably the best option at this hotel.
The food was adequate if you are not overly fussy but avoid eating at peak times as the restaurant is packed. The bar service was good and despite the amount of guests , the queues for the bar were not too bad.
The hotel was clean except for first thing in the morning which was a a result of the guests the previous night around the pool so you can not blame the hotel or staff for that. I did however see a condom floating in the pool on our last morning but again this is a reflection on clientelle and not the hotel.
The rooms were cleaned every day. This was good. The entertainment appeared OK however the pool area was so packed that it wasnt suitable for prams or very young children so we were only able to see it from the pool bar.
All in all it was a bit disappointing and I certainly wouldnt recommend it as a family hotel unless your children are big enough to look after themselves.
The biggest asset this hotel has is its staff. They work in very difficult conditions to ensure that you get the best from the Griego Mar. I would rate them as the best staff encountered in any of my previous 15 or so foreign holidays.
Its unfortunate that I can not say the same about the facilities at the Griego Mar.

Spotlessly clean, apart from the lazy guests who left cups, fag butts etc lying around the pool area but the whole pool area was hosed and scrubbed daily. The pool was thoughly cleaned each morning too.
The food was really nice, always hot and a varied selection, we really enjoyed the meals and even the snacks had a good selection on offer with all the kids favourites like nuggets, burgers and chips.
The location of the hotel isn't too bad as the complex is that big you can kind of forget the outside world, but outside the hotel is a residential area, high rise flats, a bit of a scruffy area to be honest and the streets were littered with a more than acceptable amount of dog poo.
The staff at the hotel were very nice and helpful, no problems with them at all.
The entertainment was varied and ongoing throughout the day and night. The staff there worked very hard and were lovely. There was entertainment for the kids and adults throughout the day, like bowling, shooting, darts, hoopla, etc. And things like colouring, making things and DVD’s for the younger ones.
We wouldn't visit this hotel again but that is not to say we didn't enjoy every minute of it. It was fabulous but the surrounding area has put us off returning to this hotel, the hotel couldn't have done anything better.
Thank you Griego Mar for a wonderful holiday.

As it was only a 3 star I didn't expect the Ritz, but as I have been to a few 3 start hotels it was what I would expect it was basic but very clean. The pool and surrounding area was always clean and tidy, the rooms were cleaned and towels changed everyday, hotel overall was always kept clean. The buffet didn't offer an exciting range of food but there was always something there that you would fancy and a seperate buffet for the kids and food was always hot and again the area was clean.
The entertainment again for a 3 star was okay and varied and with the resort being quiet was good to have.
Staff were always polite and willing to help. Reception staff not so good. Pool bar was busy and you did have to wait but not for long so I didn't see a problem.
The Hotel wasn't far from the main area but was a steep walk to and from the beach. But was always quiet late at night which was good.
After reading some of the horror stories about this hotel I really was reluctant to go, but I am glad that I did as I thought the hotel was fine and had a great time there.

| said: As I go on several All inclusive holidays a year, I was slightly worried about this hotel, after reading a few reviews.
I had no need to be, the room and hotel was always clean.
The food was hot and they didn't run low, not as much choice as a normal all inclusive, but still good quality, snack bar was the only let down, always (cold sausages, chips beans, burgers, small salad section and potato) but it was ok if you were peckesh, also this hotel in half board also, so sometimes a queue for drinks as people in front of queue are sorting out payment.
if you want a 100% English hotel, stay away but if you don't mind mixing then this is a great hotel, the ratio when I was here was U.K 50% Spanish 40% German / Portuguese / Danish 10%
Staff were all nice, happy and had a little bit of a laugh, and the entertainment was a typical all inclusive (mini disco, bingo, parrot show, etc) but was ok to watch, and if you didn't like it there was a night club style bar, open till 1 or 2 some nights with karoake.

| said: Just back from a 2 week stay at this hotel and must say after reading some of the comments of here before I went I was quite sceptical
I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived!! The hotel is old and basic but the rooms were very clean and the staff were excellent
The food was always piping hot (truthfully)!! And they baked lovely fresh baguettes at all meal times, the baguette oven was in the dining room so if you wanted a hot baguette you just had to watch for them coming out,
The soups that were served every day were delicious, in fact I'd go so far as to say its one of the best hotels vie been in for soup, main meals were better some days than others but on the whole quite nice, desserts pretty bland and not much selection
Bar staff nice and friendly, and you got pints or half pints and always willing to make any cocktail asked for, which was nice as we were all inclusive
Entertainment was what you'd expect from 3 stars - iffy
Biggest complaint I could see, would be the sunbathing area if you had kids as there wasn't really a lot of space around the pool, but for adults there's the rooftop area or a separate sun terrace
On the whole if I were to end up at this hotel on an allocated on arrival I can’t say I would be disappointed

| said: Am very surprised at some of the other comments. Just arrived back after a week at the Griego Mar and was very pleased with it. The hotel, granted, is quite old and is basic enough but it was lovely and clean and the staff were always very helpful. We had a room overlooking the pool and while it tended to be noisy with the entertainment in the evening, this was always over by half 11 and to be honest, once the balcony sliding door was shut, it was easy enough to get to sleep.
Location-wise, I was very happy. We got a seat by the pool every day and went down to the town centre at night which was about a 5minute walk.
The food, I thought, was pretty good too. There was a great selection and they always had fresh bread in the morning. Lunch also provided a good selection adn was always nice and warm with the staff constantly bringing hot food from the kitchen.
While we didn't stay at the hotel at night, we did see some bits of the entertainment and thought it was ideal for kids and adults alike. The staff were excellent with the kids during the day, organising various games. At night, all the kids seemed to have a ball with the singing and dancing laid on.
All in all, I was pleased with Griego Mar and wouldn't dissuade anyone from going there again.

| said: We booked our holiday 'allocation on arrival 3 star half board'with First Choice travel. This 'Hotel' should never ever be classed as a 3 star...possibly 2 star.
I have been travelling abroad for over 30 years and this is by far the worst Hotel I have ever stayed in any where.
Before we unpacked I went to see the rep to be moved and paid extra to be moved after one days stay.
It is situated at the back of Torremolinos in a run down residential area surrounded by large tower blocks of flats.
On entering you are met by a fusty smell at the reception area, which is dark and dismal. After checking in you go to the lifts where you notice the rusting dirty ash trays.
On entering our room you noticed the curtains with a foot square tear through the middle letting through the sun light and the dated furniture and floors and walls in need of refurbishment.
Our room was above the pool. It was manick. Again the pool area is dismal and far too small. People were stepping over each other to get to the pool or the bar.
The beach is on the other side of town.
The evening meal was Pie chips and green beans and again was of a poor quality. Breakfast was reasonable.
The couple of times I visited reception other people were complaining about various problems.
I'm sorry i feel the need to write such a poor reveiw of this place as I felt the staff did the best they could under exeptionally poor conditions but I don't want anyone else to get conned into going to such a place.
I got out after one night and was lucky. I won't chance my luck again.

| said: Greatly in need of refurbishment, the Griego Mar is rated 3* but should really be a 2*.The rooms are in need of decoration and are basic but clean. The air-conditioning units are old and not effective so I dread to think what it will be like in the hotter summer months.
Unfortunately, the pool was far too small for the number of guests at the hotel so we ended up going to the beach a lot and exploring the area. (Note: getting to the beach is fine because the walk is downhill but coming back up is quite tiring - and much worse after a night out!) We used the local buses quite a lot, they are cheap and air-conditioned (but remember to do as the locals do...don't queue or you'll be left waiting for the next bus!!!!!). Marbella and Puerto Banus are both worth seeing.
Anyway back to the hotel....After a few days of the hotel food (which was bland and often cold...I think they use packet sauces too)I discovered a few good local restaurants (there's a great chinese place opposite the hotel which I can recommend!)
If you have a room overlooking the pool area, it can be pretty noisy until the entertainment stops (around midnight).
My greatest concern though was about the lack of security in the hotel. We had a scare in the early hours one morning with a drunk guy trying to kick our door in. Despite calling the reception twice and asking for security urgently each time, no-one actually came to help. For two single women, this was really frightening. Fortunately, after 20 mins, the guy eventually left. We complained the next day didn't receive any explanation or apology and the staff really seem to care which I think is unacceptable.
In view of the above I certainly can't recommend this hotel. If going to the resort again, I would certainly go to a nicer one in a better area. There are some lovely ones down at the seafront.

| said: if you want to experience a holiday from hell then spend a week all inclusive at the griego mar hotel.
the view from our cramped dingy room was discusting, over looking a residential block of flats, strewn with litter and filth,
the food served is appalling,(but ideal if you want to go home 2 stone lighter)! food left festering on the hot plates all day.
entertainment! what entertainment, you'd have more fun watching paint dry!
the hotel location, smack bang in the middle of a run down residential area, just what you want on your family hols.
i would not take my family back to this hotel, if it was given to us free of charge.

| said: To say this hotel is awful would be an understatement.Very dated and smack bang in the middle of a very rough end of town.
Entertainment non existant and the entertainers are the worse i,ve ever had the displeasure of meeting. If youre a drunken slob and couldnt care less what your kids get up to while you drink the hours away then this is the place for you.If youre after a family holiday avoid this place as there are far better hotels down the beach front.
Food is very basic and often served cold, the snack bar for ALL INC is topped up when required so beware what you eat as it could have been out all day.
Swimming Pool too small for hotel and most of the time it isnt all in the sun.
I went here as a D.I.Y holiday, payed £500 all in for 3 of us so wont complain too much but other couples we spoke to had payed £1500 for a family and that is simply too much for an hotel like this.
You have been warned.

| said: Quite surprised with the quality. Expected worse for what we paid. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Food was quite good and always hot or warm. Good selection. Check your room as we were allocated one over the tunnel leading to the pool and it was very noisy. Staff did act and move us to a higher room. Hotel is a bit old and tired but very clean and has a certain charm. Entertainment not great but for the price I paid who cares? We went in February when it was full of noisy Spanish pensioners who got better looked after than us. But so what. Could have been my granny. Did'nt really affect us. Definately go again out of season. Do not think it would be that great in the middle of summer for a couple without kids.

| said: The room we stayed in was a studio, without any cooking facilities as we were on a bed and breakfast basis,if fact,it seemed all of the hotel were either all inc or half board. we were on top floor (11th) in as studio, balcony very small but we had whole of side of hotel to sit on if climbed thru bedroom window, and this area had a parapet so we couldnt fall off.very clean and tidy, pool decent size but too small for size of hotel, and did tend to get full very quickly.Didn't stay on site much as we werent all incl so would go out on a night. pool room quite shabby but okay to go in for an hour or two when weather bad. staff friendly, set in good area, within easy walking distance of nightlife but quite a trek to beach, downhill going but coming back home after a night out, ooh!
