On arrival at 22.30 we were allocated a room without a terrace with a window with steel bars over it looking over an untidy service road.
The room was right above the hotels laundry very noisey and hot, air conditioning didn,t work and the wash basin in the bathroon leaked.
We requested to be move into the room we had paid for which was to have a terrace it took them two nights and three days to move us.
They did however fix the air con and basin the next day. Once move we did enjoy our holiday but reception need a few lessons on customer care.

| said: We have just got back from a weeks stay at the Hotel Siroco and although we did enjoy our holiday we would not return to this hotel.
If i first start with the positives of this hotel. the swimming pools although officially two is basically one large one. it is very nice and is set at the bottom of beautiful gardens. Always seemed enough sun beds and sun shades to go around. The hotel is kept clean in all communal areas. There is a wide selection of food in the buffet.
Now onto the cons which is im afraid to say a slightly longer list. The hotel is set on a steep hill which is hard work to climb in heat. But saying this most of the resorts hotels are set on similar hills so i would not advise anyone with walking difficulties visiting the resort. If your taking children there is a childrens club but from what we saw it tended to cater much more for spanish children.
Our room was small and the bathroom was very compact to say the least. Maid service is daily but such incidences occured during our stay as the maid leaving no towels at all one day. The staff dont seem that enthusiatic if your not spanish.
Evening entertainment is quite standard i.e bingo, mini disco, parrot show etc. The drinks in the hotel bar are more expensive than outside the hotel.
There is a games room ( pool tables, air hockey and computer games) aswell as a small gym.
The restaurant isnt air conditioned and for the smokers there is no area to have a cigarette. You also cant get things such as coffee or tea with your evening meal.
During our week we took a trip to Gibralter with our holiday company. This cost about 45 euros per adult. It was a full day trip with a tour of rock, apes and world war II tunnels aswell as time to explore by yourself. This trip was well worth the money.

| said: This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and in itself the hotel was very good. Our problem we found that with the hotel being on a rather steep hill it was very difficult for people with any mobility problems, whereas two years ago you could enter from the main road into the underground car park and get the lift up to your desired floor. You could also enter through a gate on the main road and access the hotel pool area and make it easier on yourself. This is no longer possible as the gates and the car park(new electric door system)are no longer possible to use.
If you hire a car they give you a key to enter from the street, but all other access points are closed, it seems due to security problems, which are understandable.
Also beware that a very large amount of people we met were slaughtered by the Mossies and I include myself in that number.
We were issued with mozzie machines in the rooms and they are located about the other areas of the hotel.
If you are reasonably fit and don't get much bother from the insects, you will enjoy this hotel as the standard was quite high.

We did change rooms as I got a mosquito bite the first night, moving rooms was not a problem, next day we got a room on the top floor.
The dining room staff were pleasant and worked very hard so nobody had to wait for a table.
Towels changed every day. Linen twice during our stay
I would recommend this hotel.

| said: This is the second time we have stopped at this hotel. We have only ever booked a standard room and have found them to be perfectly adequate.
The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable and there's a full bathroom. The food didn't seem quite so good this year as last, still plenty of choice but a bit hit a miss as to how hot it would be.
Can't comment much on the entertainment as we went out everynight as this hotel is in a great location for all the local bars.
Only gripe is this hotel is up a fairly steep hill but you used to be able to exit the hotel near the pool area via some steps and a gate which take you to the main road but this was closed off while we were there as there was some work being done in the road below and no-one seemed to know if it would re-open.
You also used to be able to go down to the underground car park and exit the hotel that way but that has had new gates put on the only open when car approach or leave the car park, so I'm afraid the only way in or out is through the main entrance and down the hill.

| said: I travelled here in September with my fiance. The rooms look lovely on the BEST HOTELS website, but slightly different in reality.
Room: The carpet was dirty with various stains. There was a bucket of water beneath the radiator, behind the curtain. The balcony is tiny with no light, this really upset me as I love to sit there before going out in the evening.
On a positive note, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was nice.
Location: Not a very nice walk to the beach under a long underpass, coming back is all uphill and a real killer on the legs. Is in the centre 5 mins from 24 hrs sq and about 10/15 mins to the Marina.
Food: Hideous!! would never go half board again, same old cold disgusting food everyday. We went H/B to save money but ended up eating out alot anyway.
Staff: Reception very rude! I was waiting one day for some change and a lady said "What do you want" in a rather rude manner. Also they would not let us pay extra a keep the room on the day of checkout, the hotel was not even full!
I love the Costa Del Sol and will return but never to the Sirroc.

| said: We visited the Siroco from the 12th to the 26th of May 2006. We purchased a superior room at a cost of £4 per person per night.
At first we accepted the quality of the hotel because of the overall price we ended up paying but in hindsight you get exactly what you pay for.
Temperatures in Benalmadina reach at times 29 degrees centigrade. The so-called airconditioning in our room was still blowing out warm air, every night was like trying to sleep in a sauna. When my wife and I complained to reception we were informed in no uncertain terms that the air conditioning wasn't switched on until June. So we sweated. We were supplied with a fridge that switched itself off when your room card cum key was taken out of the wall socket, therefore we were unable to have cold drinks on our return to our room.
The hotel is far too big for the size of the dining room ie; there are more guests than tables. Queueing to enter the dining room for our evening meal was horrendous, the line stretched back into the foyer.
When the dining room was full, the door was shut until a table was available. Some guests got so frustrated they ate out. Totally unacceptable.
The cleaning staff on the superior rooms were absolutely fabulous and we couldn't fault them in any way, our "saunas" were immaculate.
In all honesty I don't think this hotel deserves a three star rating, two would be pushing it.
Both my wife and I are smokers and the hotels smoking policy is, in your rooms, outside or in the consevatory, no smoking otherwise. I would like to point out that the conservatory first thing on a morning stinks of cat pee (urine) and if you can face that you are a better man than I am Gunga Din.

| said: Having read the reviews on this site we thought we were pretty safe booking to stay at the Siroco. How wrong could we be.
Firstly, the hotel is clean but really shabby and in desperate need of some renovation. I would class it a 2*. Our room looked tired, we asked to view a superior room which was an extra 50 euros but couldn't tell the difference (apart from a fridge) so we decided against it.
The hotel is based in the middle of Benlamedena, with the swimming pool next door to a dual carriage way - the noise from the traffic is anything but relaxing and to top it off there was a building site next to the pool where they used a pneumatic drill every day. Lovely.
There is a small poolside restaurant which only does cheese and ham toasties - nothing else so lunch was a limited option!
There were no parasols so we had to buy our own to prevent from baking in the sun.
The reception staff were extremely rude and abrupt. Any problems raised with them was met with a shrug of the shoulders and an air of indifference.
Average age at the Siroco is definately 50+, we are both in our twenties so it wasn't the best choice we have ever made - I realise that this isn't the hotel's fault!
Food was OK, got a bit repetitive and the restaurant was noisy and crowded.
All in all the worst holiday we have ever had, will never return. You have been warned!

| said: I stayed for week recently with my husband. We lived in Benalmadena for 5 years and my in-laws stayed in the Sorocco whilst visiting us so we knew what the hotel was like and where it's location was. I booked on the internet and upgraded our room to a superior.
We arrived about 22:30 hrs - no problems - and we were really pleased with the room. It was part of a new extension. Nice view of the pool and beach. Two double beds, fridge, television, telephone and a hairdryer. Room was aircondition but of course was not working in March. We did notice that the standard rooms did not look quite so inviting so would book a superior room again if we return.
We only had breakfast which was self-service and excellent. Plenty of choice - cereals, fruit, cakes and pastries, cold meats, cheese, bread/rolls, bacon, eggs (boiled/scrambled/fried), and even pancakes. Can't comment on evening meal as we eat out every night.
We didn't stay to watch the entertainment either so can't really comment on that.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

| said: Just returned from a week in this so called 3*hotel
would not rate it as 1* Rooms needed a lot of refurbishment to bring it up to a good standard. The room we stayed in did not have any extraction in the bathroom the water from the shower ran away so slowly
that if you took too long to shower the bath would overflow. When you emptied the wash basin the water came back up through the bath. Most of the fittings were loose.
The bedroom was tatty in that the wallpaper was leaving the wall by its own means. Felt sorry for the
maids they worked hard but not much to work with.
When you enter a hotel first impressions last, well,
our first impression was the reception desk not a
welcoming smile amongst them. Infact I do not recall
any pleasantries from that quarter at all
especially when I asked to change rooms because the heat was overpowering after asking for the air conditioning to be turned on - not a chance apparently
"it was broken until June the 15th" so we changed rooms 2nd room just the same as original.
Meals yuk !!!
Entertainment was 1 poor soul doing his best to test
our knowledge with a quiz or try your hand at bingo
Would not recommend and will never stay there again
cheers

The food to me is and was first class a good choice of food...there was a salad bar when I was there!!! They always had a soup on then the large salad bar then the hot food. they also had show cooking on at the front of the resturant always one meat and one fish. The desert selection was always good with plenty of choice.
Breakfast again was super....the normal breakfast food you get abroad plus again show cooking which was freshly fried eggs and fresh pancakes!!!!
The rooms (I booked superior again) was first class, 2 large queens size beds, loads of room, rooms cleaned each day with towles change etc etc.
I could not fault this hotel.....I alwasy wounder when you have had such a fabulous stay in what i would class as a first class hotel and others class it as the 'pits'!!!
I found all the staff both the waiters/resses, chefs, reception staff and the cleaners very very friendly.
Once again it was another very enjoyable stay and YES I would go back again for a thrid time and a fourth etc etc

Lovely views over beautiful gardens, pools and marina. Room was spacious and clean and was carpeted which we liked as it muffles any noise from other rooms.
Towels changed every day and linen twice during the week. Food good, not excellent but what you would expect from 3* hotel. Plenty of choice, expecially meat and fish dishes.
Staff in the main were helpful and pleasant, particularly restaurant and bar staff. Reception not as nice but only spoke to them checking in and out. Doctor at hotel for half an hour most mornings (if you need one) and hotel has small shop on site which sells loads of stuff at reasonable prices.
The gardens were beautiful! Lots of little pathways and secluded nooks and crannies. Small stream running through it with a tiny waterfall. Also 4 resident cats in the grounds. This made my holiday but not everyone's an animal lover but they are no bother.
Entertainment pretty much standard for Spanish hotels - by that I mean bingo, flamenco, parrot show, magician, middle-aged singers etc - but plenty to do and see nearby in the resort.

The hotel itself is clean, but could do with a bit of refurbishment. The gardens are well kept, and the pool area seemed to have plenty of sun-beds although lazing by the pool is not our type of holiday.
Food was generally good, with plenty of selection and was of a good variety.
The hotel is located just above the main road which passes above the beach. Easiest way to the beach is down the lift to the underground car park, and then use the subway under the road and down some steps to the promenade above the beach. 2 sunbeds and a parasol cost 8 euros.
Local buses run every 15 mins from outside the Hotel Triton to other coastal resorts. Very cheap and efficient service. (40 minute trip to Mijas costs 1 euro 15 cents.)
Hotel staff were efficient and friendly, with the exception of the Reception staff. Very curt attitude was witnessed on more than one occasion. My wife had her handbag stolen on the second day (from the hotel restaurant) and the attitude and efforts of the reception staff left a lot to be desired. The help given by First Choice rep Colin was exceptional, as was the assistance given by his local office.
Entertainment was of the usual fare. Kids club from half nine for about an hour, then flamenco, parrots, etc. Much more entertaining to stroll along the promenade above the beach to let your dinner settle. Drink prices at the hotel were very reasonable (small beer 1.25 euros, large 2.40)
Have stayed in many hotels of a similar standard around the Med, and found this one slightly below par compared to the others.

| said: We stayed half board and thought the food/choices good. The hot food was hot, salad bar delicious and the desserts extremely good. They also had a separate grill bar with a chef cooking meats/fish fresh to order, which we mainly used.
The rooms were clean although we were a little disappointed with ours as we had booked and paid for a superior room and expected it to be above average which it wasn’t.
The public areas were clean but there was a problem with the toilets near reception which meant guests had to use 2 bedrooms put aside for guests use. When the toilets were re-opened we noticed one had a leak with water all over the floor, so not that impressive!
Also when we had to walk down a very long corridor to get to the lifts to take us up to our floor(room 448) we virtually had to hold our noses as the stench from the laundry was awful, pity the poor souls who were staying along that corridor, ugh!
The location was very good, not too steep a hill to climb and in the centre of Benalmadena.
The staff were nearly all friendly and polite except for one woman on reception who was really unhelpful and curt!
The entertainment was of a very poor standard and the entertainment lounge could do with being bigger with
comfortable seating in for the guests.
We personally would not stay in this hotel again and much prefer the Los Patos or H10 Palmasol, much higher standard but also 3 star.

The food was to a very high standard with lots of choice, we never had to eat out once. The location is excellent as you are within distance of the marina but also close to arroyo de la miel. The staff were always friendly.

My initial impression upon arrival at the Siroco was not too good. The main entrance is a little shabby looking, and the hinged glass doors which dragged on their lower mountings, made getting in with our cases awkward (one evening whilst in the bar/reception area we heard an almighty crashing noise as one of these doors shattered). My heart sank as we made our way to our 2nd floor rooms from reception, via a dimly lit, scruffy and smelly ground floor corridor. There are standard rooms along here, I would suggest avoiding them. When we reached our rooms (253,254,256 & 262) I was so relieved, (having made all the booking arrangements for this holiday on behalf of our adult family group of seven) to find that the superior rooms are superb, and well worth paying the extra modest amount for. Spotlessly clean and tidy, comfortable and spacious, two double beds a fridge and nice balconies with semi sea views. We eventualy found the heating/aircon control by the bed nearest the window, this worked well, but there were no info. cards to explain such things in the rooms.
The breakfasts and dinners were excellent, plenty of choice and good quality, definately no need to go hungry, or eat out, unless you demand gourmet standards. The House Red & White wine is great value at 6.50 euro, and very drinkable too.
The gardens and swimming pools are very pleasant and well maintained, but not very peaceful due to the traffic noise from the adjacent main road - take great care when crossing, sadly we witnessed a terrible accident involving a pedestrian just outside the Hotel. The Hotel is however, conveniently located, just up a short incline from the main road, which can also be reached via steps from the pool area, during the daytime. Just across the road there is a pleasant pedestrian walkway to the beachfront promenade. There are several small shops and bars in the immediate vicinity. 24 hour square is a 10 mins walk, and the Marina about 20 mins.
The reception staff are efficient but rather curt, fortunately staff in the bar and restaurant are more friendly. The cleaning maids are brilliant, bringing fresh towels every day, always smiling, and very helpful eg. providing extra pillows on request.
I can't comment on the Hotel entertainment as we prefer to go out for a walk after dinner. We did enjoy a few sessions at "The Bees Knees" (400 yds along main road towards Fuengirola) lots of good natured banter and conversation with Mike the owner. Me and my wife being the youngest of our group at 42 & 41 respectively, decided to give 24 hour square a couple of visits and quite enjoyed Disco Kiu till about 4.30 am one night.
We would certainly have no hesitation in returning to the Siroco, or recommending it. Great value for money, just remember to book the superior rooms!

The location was first class, although it was situated on an incline this was not a problem as you could go out of the hotel through the garden or you could go out through the under ground car park and these both brought you onto the road below. There was a subway also to get you across the road if you didn't want to use the road to cross.
The rooms also were clean and tidy and very spacious, loads of cupboard space and toilries in the bathroom which where re stocked each day. Clean towels each day also. We even received every 3rd night a half bottle of red wine in the room which was free of charge with 2 plastic glasses.
The food also was first class, and the show cooking was lovely, freshly cooked pancakes every morning for me!!! There was lots of food to choose from, I would find it hard if someone could not find something to eat!!!! It was also my 40th birthday and the hotel arranged a bottle of champagne for us for the evening free of charge!!!!
A first class hotel, with first class staff definitely a hotel I would go back to again. The Best hotel range seems to be very good as we have also stayed in the Best Benalmadena hotel which is part of the same range.

There were plenty of sunbeds and the environment was safe for children. Food was varied and well prepared and presented. Childrens entertainment / club was unexpected and a bonus with a variety of activities. Variety of evening entertainment and it was appropriate for children.
We liked it so much we are going back for October half term.
