Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We found this a very good Hotel for a 3 star.
We found the staff were not friendly towards us so do not expect any please or thank you from any staff, however we did get a smile from the barman in the downstairs bar Las Vegas.
The cleaners do a good job every day, but they do make sure they wake you up if you are still in bed after 9am. They make alot of noise banging and shouting to get you out of bed.
The food was average could always find something to eat that you liked. A good selection of fresh meats, salads and vegetables.
This was a very relaxing holiday which we really enjoyed and would go back, but be prepared if you want a sunbed you need to be down no later than 7.30am.The pool is fantastic!

We found the Zoraida Garden a very clean well run hotel.

Rooms were cleaned on a daily basis by very efficient staff.

Reception staff were friendly, welcoming and also very obliging.

As most reviews have already stated this hotel caters mainly for the Spanish with all entertainment in Spanish. This did not put us off at all, we thoroughly enjoyed the majority of shows we saw.

The food was plentiful with a decent selection to choose from.

The hotels location in respect of the beach couldn't be better, with a variety of English and local bars within walking distance.

We did book a trip to the Alhambra Palace via our tour rep, this is commonly sold by all reps as the 8th wonder of the world. It is not. We had a 12 hour round trip with the actual visit to the Palace lasting 2 hours. Be prepared to queue and walk for at least 4 hours in baking heat. The return journey back to our hotel took 3 hours without a stop. Cost of trip 80 Euros/person.

Food was excellent - pool was lovely and clean as were the rooms. Problem with the Holiday was the amount of flies around the pool. Not much to do during the day have to walk at least 20 minutes to find an English bar that sold cider!! All the entertainment was in Spanish.

I stayed in the Zoraida Garden for 2 weeks all-in. Food is good for a 3stars hotel. Found everyday something i liked. Go to the right corner of the restaurant for instant baked meat or fish. Don't expect steak.

Hotel, rooms and swimming area very clean. Not enough bars and shops around the hotel. You need to walk 15 min. before it gets better.

The staff was good and I never had to wait to get a drink. There's lots of entertainment but because it was October mostly for elderly people.

I think i'll go back in a few years.

The hotel is situated right by the sand and shingle beach but is about an 18 minute walk to the centre and a further 10 minutes to where most of the bars and restaurant are - this area is know as the Urbanisation.

Not that we got the opportunity to get out much as on the third day we went down with suspected food poisioning and a number of other guests had the same problem. The food was abysmal overcooked and left standing uncovered for long period and being kept only luke warm.

The hotel staff were offhand and unhelpful and we would never return here again.

As many of the reviews for this hotel suggest there is little if anything to occupy your time in this resort if you're under the age of 50 yrs. There are two hotels on this complex and of the two the Zoraida Park was the newer and more lavish. But don’t let this put you off going to Zoriada Garden as it is very attractive with a spectacular atrium from the basement through the middle of the lobby showing off each of the five upper floors.

There is a super market right next door and souvenir shops inside both hotels and across the road.

We did however have quite a good holiday here, although the food, like many all inclusive hotels was mass produced; and often showed little variety or of the nature we would encounter back home.

We were told we wouldn't be able to use Hotel Zoraida Parks' restaurant but we could use its bars even though it shares the complex with H.Z.G. This rule we broke as it seemed to have a greater choice of meat on the menu! The pizzeria is worth a try but only for its meat and fish dishes the pizza is not up to much, we found an awesome German restaurant near the big gorilla in town.

Try the Argentinean steak it rules honest! The kids got free ice cream and the adults got a free shot at the end of the meal, anything for free’s ok with me!

The hotel and room was kept very clean and looked in good condition and the cleaners always said hello or good morning to us all, although the bar staff and waiters always seemed to be fed up to have to serve us (we were always polite with them and I made a point of getting our children to be extra polite) but there was never any rapour!

I didn't find as many of these reviews suggest the I was ignored by any of the bar staff in tern of the Spanish guests, the majority of which I came across also were quite rude and seemed to look down there nose at us rather than smile in passing.

I noticed that non-all-inclusive guests had to pay one Euro eighty per sun bed around the pool, I didn’t envy the guy whose job it was to collect this charge! People seemed to rise early in order to get the best spot around the pool, one couple we met even put there towels out the night before!

We joined them in this in order to be close to the baby pool for our 2 year old, we were met with a few nasty looks from the ever so friendly Spaniards who had occupied the very same spec for the previous four days. Doing this again the following evening we occupied the same spot only to find our towels had been handed in at reception and the same Spanish proudly holding their sacred spec!

During the day there were activities organised of which all or most where advertised on a great big notice board in the lobby of the hotel. It was difficult to know when it was time for these to start unless reading this notice, as the reps seemed to predominantly speak in Spanish, using what seemed like very small amounts of English, French and German.

Now I am no linguist by far, so fair play to these reps for speaking as much as they do but there was at least three of them who were English so I’d have thought they would encourage us a little more.

The aqua aerobics in the pool is however a spectacle to be seen and should be an attraction in its own right at the resort! Almost everyone around the pool stops to join in this goes on for a good 40 or so minutes and is real good fun SEEING IS BELIEVING!!!!!

The hotel is equipped with an awesome gym with a varied assortment of kit for anaerobic and aerobic exercise. Be warned the air conditioning down there is not good at all; also get some water from the bar en route as there isn’t a water fountain!

The evening’s entertainment starts at 9pm with mini disco for the kids and lasts ten minutes, a little short we thought as there were loads of kids and it was all our kids went on about for most of the day, then for the adults, local acts or performers.

These were entertaining for about two minutes then the older generations took to the dance floor and we couldn’t see a thing. The drinks and snacks flowed freely all day and night and we ordered pretty much what we wanted and as many as we chose to without a problem other than the occasional scowl from the ‘Mighty Ming’ lookilike behind the bar!

The Hotel Zoraida Gardens was kept spotless at all times as cleaners were constantly mopping floors, wiping tables and emptying bins.

On first impressions the hotel was as it was reported in the brochure. The rooms were clean and spacious and the beds were very comfortable and adequately equipped.

The Entertainment was not as good as we thought it would be for the size of the hotel. As it didn't start until around 9.45pm there was a lot of sitting around in the evenings as we had a member of our party with mobility problems.

The food was well varied but not always hot.

Unfortunately if you are All Inclusive the bar staff will leave your children waiting or serve others first as we were told they are aware that all inclusive clients don't have to pay so they won't tip.

The hotel did seem more aimed at the Spanish rather than varied as it has been in other hotels we have been in.

I went to this hotel last year and it was scorching hot!!

I absolutley loved it because we were all inclusive and the variety of drinks and snacks by the pool you could get was unbeliveable. I really don't know how they make their money because there were snacks throughout the day which tasted delicious and there was a wide variety of drinks including, frothee cappucinno, champagne, kids cocktails, adults cocktails and pretty much anything you can think of.

The pool was great because it was that big and the surroundings was lovley.

But I must admit that the entertainment weren't the best because it was mainly for the Spanish but they did translate it to many different languages. One of my favourite things about this hotel was the adults disco downstairs, which was also free drinks. It was open until 2 am and we had a ball there. Opposite he disco was also computers and a games room, which kept the younger ones entertained.

I also loved how close it was to the beach. You must take a lilo with you because the waves are that big they just fling you off the lilo which was so funny, the beach was really good, but like already mentioned the water aerobics were just AMAZING!! Everyone would join in for about an hour dancing and singing in the water it was amazing to do but even better to watch it.

We loved this holiday that much that we have booked to go again in August of this year.

More of a Spanish holiday destination, so the Spanish mainly catered for, but we are in Spain.

Food a bit samey but you will not go hungry, enough of a variation for everyone.

Found all staff to be generally pleasant.

Inside and outside hotel very clean.

Entertainment rather poor but well enjoyed by the Spanish and the entertainers(mostly British)did try very hard.

Aqua aerobics very well attended a must see, at least a hundred people all dancing in the water, good fun.

Hotel about 20 minute walk from 'centre'but enough going on in hotel to keep you occupied.

Twin hotel with Zorida Park, can use both hotels and facilities.

Pool and grounds very roomy and plenty of sunbeds, but you have to pay 1.50 . Never had to pay for sunbed in hotel before. Alot of money for a family. There are alot of fies in the grounds.

Hotel in along way from other life, very few shops about.

Staff very helpful, best are bar staff.
Food O.K. but not a great variety. You must like pork or you will go hungry. Very Spanish.

Entertainment is not very good, majority of shows rely on hotel staff.

Not bad for what we paid (very little) but would not recommend to anyone and would definitely not return.

Rooms were clean but balcony door very hard to open and air conditioning controlled by hotel, only a few hours overnight. But pleased to have bath and shower in room.

Staff very rude and made no effort to make English feel welcome. Germans and Spanish treated like royalty. Also, no English entertainment.

Breakfast not bad, bread, croissants, cereal, fruit etc. Dinner was awful. Consisted of chips and fish, pork or chicken, generally covered in strange looking sauce with no label as to what it was. No veg!!! Had no choice but to eat there though as town only has 2-3 restaurants and no pubs.

Town in walkable distance but not really worth bothering with. Good shopping centre bus ride away.

We visited this hotel as a family group, we were all accomodated in adjoining rooms - which was great.

The staff were friendly and all reception staff spoke very good English - which was very helpful. Cleanliness was excellent both inside and in the grounds of the hotel.
The position of the hotel was not very good, although it is on the sea front (which is great for beach) it is a good 15min stroll to any life in the evenings.

The food was terrible to say the least - pork or fish of some variant every day (we did have chicken 1 day - but even this was only drumsticks) - sweets consisted of variants of egg custard, ice cream and yoghurts (although we did have melon 1 day) THERE WAS PLENTY OF FRUIT.

Entertainment was poor!

We stayed for 2 weeks 1/2 board. Had a fantastic time, with excellent weather.

The hotel is on a nice complex, with 2 swimming pools. Lots of nice green areas with sun beds, if you don't want to be next to the pool. Only problem you have to get to the sunbeds around 8am to get a good spot. There was a charge of 1.50 euros each day for a mattress.

The food in the hotel was good and varied. Always promoting fish and a few meat dishes. You had a grill bar where fish and and meat would be cooked. What also was excellent you didn't have to have the usual chips which they seem to think us British love! There was lovely jacket potatoes and new potatoes each night. This was to my 6 year old daughters delight as she doesn't find chips yummy! She ate very well, with always something there for her to eat.

There was a kids club which was good. They had programs on most evenings and in the daytime. She had her face painted also a few times. Even had a fire works display which was quite good once a week. She met a lovely selection of English kids and had a fantastic time, didn't want to leave.

Staff were friendly at the hotel, but some found English hard to understand.

Had a happy hour at the bar 8-9p.m. Adult entertainment was o.k, we mainly stayed around the hotel in the evenings for my daughter as her friends were all there.

Out of choice I think we would have visited the resort bars a little more if we were with out a child. We all had a great holiday, one of the best we've had in Spain. Hope to return one day!

We have just came back after spending 2 weeks at Zoraida Gardens.

We stayed there on a half board basis, glad we did not upgrade to all inclusive, not a lot of choice with the food it repeated day after day. No choice for children chips, chips or chips.

The Spanish were not at all friendly, which I have not found in other areas of Spain.

Sunbeds were a problem, if you were not up by 7.30 you did not stand a chance, on top of that you had to pay 1euro 50 for a mattress for the sunbed, I also witnessed people reserving sunbeds the night before.

Would I return? I DON'T THINK SO.

Usually stay at the Z.Park so this was the first time we had stayed at the Gardens. Excellent high quality all around. Hotel very clean, army of cleaners around the place, including pool and garden staff. Found all staff to be extremely friendly, particularly the bar staff.

Food in hotel mostly 'Spanish' style, but hey! - we were in Spain. Salads etc excellant and we ALWAYS found something to eat from a very extensive choice.

Location PERFECT - love this end of the resort.

Entertainment was great. Something going on all day if you wished to join in. Evening entertainment varied to include shows, flamenco dancers, live music etc.

Why do we Brits moan so much about our holidays when we travel abroud. We entertained outselves one evening by trying to think of a list of complaints to make (not easy) that 'spoilt' our holiday!!!!
(1) No orange peel in sachets of marmalade!
(2) Ordered Sangria from bar only to find jug half full of fruit!
(3) Air conditioning around outside pool area not working !
(4) No fee plastic toys in rice crispies box !
(5) Disappointed that roof of hire car was not covered on the insurance - so had to park away from falling trees !
(6) Flip flops left outside room every night - not cleaned once !
And Finally - the book I bought to take on holiday was totally crap!!!!

Have just returned from this hotel and found it to be extremely good for a 3* hotel.

The rooms were adequate and were cleaned daily. The towels were changed daily and the sheets every three days. The air-conditioning is excellent (in fact we used to wake up in the night to turn it off). The tv had quite a few channels but only BBC World News and Sky in English.

The pool is large with plenty of room for sunbeds. The really good thing about this hotel is that you don't have to get up at 7am to get a sunbed there are loads. You have to pay 1.50 Euros for a mattress.

The entertainment is good with music most nights but the entertainment team do a cabaret once a week (with fireworks wind permitting!!!). The kids have a disco from about 9pm for 30 minutes. Also beware of the water aerobics the music is very loud.

There is a small games arcade, gift shop, gym, hairdressers and computers in the hotel. There is also bowling in the sister hotel 8 Euros per person for about 30 mins.

The hotel is located right on the beach and wow what a beach it goes on for miles and is never crowded. There are strong currents though so you must look out for the flags. The beach also shelves very quickly so be very careful. In fact while we were there I only saw one person swim in the sea and he was following a canoe.

The hotel is very Spanish (in our first week I would have said 60% Spanish, 30% English and 10% German but in the second week it would have been 40% Spanish, 30% English and 30% German). The staff and Spanish guests were never rude to us and we never experienced any problems.

The only problem we really had was the food. There were some very strange meals e.g aubergine stuffed with fish, hard boiled eggs with melted cheese on top, but if there was nothing we liked we just went to the grill bar where they would grill a piece of fish or meat for you.

We would not be in a great rush to go back as we felt a wee bit isolated from the main resort.

My daughter who is 22yrs and I stayed at the Zoraida Garden Hotel, Roquetas de Mar, Almeria - never again. We tried to get a flight home the day after we arrived but there was none available.

The staff at this hotel were very very rude and you were totally ignored if you were English, Germans got treated like royalty. The food was totally disgusting, nothing at all for kids only if they want to live on dried curled up chips that are left days at a time and not heated.

The flies are a terrible pain, they are constantly going for every orifice, apparently they have had these swarms since March 05 nothing done if you complain you get ignored.

There is no entertainment at all, there is some music which starts at 10pm. The Germans are also very rude and we were told when we were there Hitler should have killed us all, nice eh!

We complained to our rep Tracy Ann and we were surprised by her remarks. Apparently no Thomson rep wanted to go to this Hotel or even Almeria so names were put into a hat and unfortunatley her and another girl got chosen. She said it had been the worst 6 months of her life and she was there till October 05. She also said the Spanish and Germans at this hotel were very very rude.

We came back from this horrible horrible holiday very upset but we were glad to get back to people who are not hostile well not all anyway.

This place has nothing at all to do in it so if you are thinking of going here change your minds unless you are an OAP.

We stayed at the Zoraida Gardens Hotel for 7 days half board. There were plently of sunbeds to go round whether at the pool or just outside on the beach. Dinner was rather good with a varied choice every day (fish, meat and veggie), but breakfast was just a choice of a fry up of bacon and eggs, or cereal.

Although the staff are very helpful their English left a lot to be desired, so brush up on your spanish!
The guests seemed to be about 80% German and Spanish although don't let that put you off.

The onsite entertainment was poor. It was a choice of either listening to traditional spanish songs sung by a live band on the outside stage or the basement disco (which was empty every night of the week bar saturday). All bars shut at 1 am, the disco shut at 2am every night.

We stayed in the Gardens Hotel on an all inclusive basis. Would throughly recommend this option to anyone, there is plenty of choice, plenty of drinks you certainly wont run out of options. The only downside is wearing a coloured wrist band (depending on what option chosen) 24/7, we weren't allowed to take it off not even for showering or sleeping, were informed that if we did it was €10 each to replace it and it could even be taken away, we were grateful to have them removed at the end of the week.

The food selection is very wide, you can use the pool snack bar or for lunch and dinner the main restaurant which is in a buffet style and self-service. The lunch and dinner times are very wide so you aren't restricted. Food is of a high quality - no complaints from us.

Hotel very clean, great large pool which meant it never seemed over crowded. Plenty of wooden sunloungers, mattress are provided for €3 a day or free to all inclusive people. Each sunlounger has a parasol next to it so you have plenty of shade if needed.

The beach is literally at the back of the hotel, easy access but downside its small shingle, no sand!!!

The only downside to this hotel is the onsite entertainment, it wasn't to our likely, aimed at a older age group. This was the same in the sister hotel also. They do have an onsite nightclub (very small) but varied music between English and Spanish. There is a bowling alley in the sister hotel (Park) which is open to all guests.

We were originally booked to go in the Zoraida Park but on arrival in Almeria the rep advised us that the majority of guests were Spanish in the hotel so reccommened that we changed to the Zoriada Gardens which we did.

We were very pleased with the hotel we had a room overlooking the lagoon pool and beach. The hotel was very clean, the cleaners cleaned the room everyday with towels changed everyday if required(they asked that you put them on the floor if you wanted them changed)

The food was also good with a buffet section which catered for all nationalities. The food was hot and varied, fruit always available and salads were available with dinner and evening meal. There was also a section at the far end of the dining room that you could chose food and have it cooked will you waited (we used that everyday.) We were very impressed. The reason I gave the food 4 stars instead of 5 was that the children's selection was more limted although that didn't affect our children they were happy to try other dishes.

The location of the hotel was excellent with the beach right on your doorstep although we didn't used the beach as it was very shingly and the sea was quite choppy but that wasn't a problem as we used the lovely pool which our children loved and so did we!!!!!!!!

The hotel is located in a quiet area, and just out of the hotel to the right is a supermarket and homeopathic pharmacy and directly across the road there are 3 gift shops which had a large selection of gifts and leather goods and clothing. The hotel also had a very nice gift shop which was run by an English couple who were very friendly and helpful and also the prices were quite cheap.

The hotel reception staff were friendly and helpful as were the cleaners waiter/resses and most of the bar staff.

The hotel entertainment was good, aimed a bit more towards the Spainish guests later on in the evening, but there was a mini disco at 8-9pm then the adult entertainment after which was mainly live music in Spanish. On our last night there was a really good flamenco show which was done by a teenage flemenco group who performed excellently.

We would definitely reccommend this hotel and would like to visit again in the future.

This hotel is next door to the Zoraida Park Hotel and in our opinion is the nicer of the two. We stayed for 2 weeks on a half board basis.
Both hotels enjoy a beachfront location. The beach was very clean but is a shingle beach not sand. You do need to be careful when entering the sea as it becomes quite deep very quickly (6-7 feet within a few steps). There are plenty of sunbeds on the beach if you require them.
The hotel entrance and reception is quite spacious and there are numerous plants on several balconies up to the roof which were quite impressive. The foyer and reception were clean and tidy and the staff were friendly and courteous. The rooms were fine.Nothing special but we did not spend much time in them so it did'nt really matter.
We found the food quite adequate and there was a reasonable good variety over the holiday. There was the usual breakfast options catering for the bacon and egg brigade and a number of other healthy options. We always found the evening meals were hot and there was a good choice of meats etc catering for a wide variety of people. There was plenty of salad to and various cakes and ice creams.
The pool is quite large with a fountain in the middle and we had no problem getting a sunbed in the mornings
The sunbeds are basic wooden slatted beds but you can hire a mattress for 1 euro a day which is a small price to pay for the comfort. There were activities at the poolside daily with water aerobics for about 40 minutes which was a good laugh even if you just watched it..!!!
There is a large outdoor entertainment area which was very nice and faced a fairly large stage and dance area. The bar was fine and we got served quite quickly
by friendly and courteous staff.
We liked the fact that the entertainment staff involved the children and adult holidaymakers in there productions over the week and this was supplemented on other nights by various entertainment.
Overall this was a quiet place (out of school holidays) but we had a very relaxing time. We saw 1 cloud in 2 weeks.
We liked it very much and we are going again in July 2004 for another 2 weeks.
