| said: The mayfair is one of the friendliest hotels we have ever stayed in. The staff could not be more helpful, the entertainment was excellent and the food more than acceptable-with a fantastic chef. The rooms were clean and we upgraded to all-incusive for 1 week which saved a lot on drinks.
How some people can be critical of this hotel is beyond belief - it makes you wonder what they expect. The location of the hotel is not great but there is a bus stop nearby which takes you all round Paphos. A big thank you to the staff, and other guests who made this a great holiday.

| said: The rooms are quite basic and a little shabby but have all the necessities and a balcony which is nice. Try to avoid getting a room that faces the road as the traffic can be quite noisy and carries on through the night. The BIGGEST problem is they only offer BBC 1 on TV. We were hoping for a few quite and relaxing nights in but it's a very boring with only BBC1. There were 2 other channels but they were very fuzzy and when I asked reception they said that's just the way they are and if BBC is working then that's fine. The hotel has a kids club for 5 year olds and up. It offers nightly entertainment. The location is good as it's within walking distance of the harbour and bar street with many restaurants.
I wouldn't recommend the hotel as there are so many better options available.

| said: this hotel was brilliant!! the hotel is absolutly spotless, and rooms cleaned daily. We went over for a wedding and stayed half board. we had a room right above reception overlooking the car park but could hear no noise at night. rooms are your standard size for half board. two single beds, tv,wardrobe and bathroom.
The food is lovely. evening meals mores so than breakfast time. the chef was always there cooking a range of dishes freshly in front of you.
the hotel has two swimming pools but beware they both tend to get pretty busy. also this hotel has a policy for those of you who tend to get up and leave your towels on sunbeds tehn spend half the dfay at the beach. if your are gone for over an housr your stuff will be taken off the beds and left on the floor. A number of times i had guests complaining abouty this.
the hotel has a sauna, gym and u can pay for massages ect.. indoor pool only open between oct-may.
theres palenty of enetrtainment in the hotel but we prefer to venture out.
if u walk to the end of the hotel drive and take a right, continue going, cross the road pass the church and phone boxes, then turn left walk 50 yards you will see a lane on the right hand side. if you follow this lane it will take you down to bar street and the harbour. its a fair treck that takes 15-20 minuites but this is by far the quickest way.

All bar and waitering staff were very friendly especially Andi, Cyprian,George,Laura and danielle to mention a few.
The dining room had a pleasant atmosphere and there was always something to suit even for our fussy eating daughters. The chef was there every night and every morning to greet and to cook fresh omlettes if desired.
Overall i think the hotel was excellent and would definatly return and recommend.
Well done the Mayfair, thanks for a great holiday.

The only fault I can make is we were not situated in a good room, we were on the front of the hotel on the 3rd floor overlooking the car park.
Other than that I can not fault this hotel, rooms were clean , staff were friendly and there was great entertainment evrey night for the kids.
The hotel is approx 10 - 20 mins walk into bar street and shops, plenty of restaurants to choose from also.
We would defo stay at this hotel again but stating a different room.

Our room was very basic and had quite a musty smell, the bed lined seemed damp too, which wasn't nice.
We went half board, however after the first visit to the resturant we ate out for the following 2 weeks. My hubby is quite fussy and some of the meat dishes didn't look cooked.....
You have to get up at the crack of dawn to get a bed & you are not able to reserve beds, this was a night mare really...my kids are fair and burn easily with out shade.
We had an ok holiday, but NOT what we are used to...will not be going again...ok if you like to ruff it !!!

| said: We were a bit worried about staying in this hotel after reading some of the previous reviews but we were pleasantly surprised.
Michelle at the reception was great and sorted us out in no time. The room was very spacious and very clean. As for the food, it was delicious and even the fussiest eater wouldn't have starved!!!!!!
The chef was there at every meal to make sure everything was OK. The only thing now is we probably have put on a stone each but who cares we were on holiday. All the staff at the hotel were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them.
The entertainment and kids club was fantastic so if you didn't want to leave the hotel there was plenty to do. A 15 Min's walk will take you Paphos harbour and the hotel is just off the Tomb of the Kings Road where is plenty of bars, shops and restaurants.
All in all we had a brilliant stay at the Mayfair and couldn't fault it in any way. We will definitely go back again and again.

| said: We had no problems with the cleanliness of the hotel and the rooms were cleaned daily with clean sheets and towels on a daily basis - except for Sundays when its the maid's day off!
Food in the hotel was excellent and there was so much choice for breakfast and evening meal. Some nites we would have a BBQ, which was really good. The Chef would always be at the restaurant door every meal time welcoming holidaymakers and always had a joke or two to tell.
The hotel was central and was only a 10-15 minute walk from Bar Street where all the nite life is, and approx 20 minute walk to the harbour and front. The supermarket, bus stops and taxi office are only a 2 minute walk away from the hotel. Buses are only 80cents one way journey but will take you anywhere you want to go for this price. There are restaurants nearby and I would most certainly recommend the Black Eagle Restaurant for a meal. The sea bass is to die for!The staff are very friendly there and their prices are very reasonable.
Hotel staff spoke good English and were very friendly and helpful.
Entertainment was mainly for children though. The entertainment team were very friendly and ensured all the children were having a lot of fun and kept them well entertained.
I would definitely visit the hotel again.

| said: Well where do I start??
We arrived around teatime and first impressions of the Hotel were good, the place was clean and tidy and looked in very good condition! How wrong can a man be!!
After an early night we emerged from our room at about 9am and quickly realised that the no reserving of sunbeds rule was a farce!! Not to different from many resorts I hear your say, anyway we soon joined in on that game!!
The first week leading upto the wedding that we were there to attend passed off pretty incident free really but we did notice that the bar staff and waiters were only interested in the females with blonde hair blue eyes and good figures! so that ruled me out!! they didnt even try to charm my 2 girls at all which surprised both the wife and I.
Start of the 2nd week, day before the wedding and I am woken by the better half tugging on me toe telling me we had a RAT in our bathroom!! Surely not I thought? but it was right I stuck my head around the door to be greeted by Roland Rat peering up at me!! I stormed off down to reception to get this dealt with and was shocked, no gob smacked to be asked if I was mistaken and asked if it was a cockroach!! The good man behind the desk was told it would have had a szed 8 Locoste trainer rained down on it if it was!! The hotel eventually sent a handyman up who took one look and was through the door quicker than I was, not to worry he brought back 2 mates carrying big brushes and dealt with it that way!( No need for any more detail on that!!) After demanding a change of towels and disinfectant etc the room was back to normal some 2 hours later! We thought that the problem was sorted! How wrong we were again later that evening we heard scratching noises from the false ceiling and after a little investigation we were told that it was pigeons!! I am not going to go into detaiils of outcomes or dealings with the hotelier as this is still being discussed with Thomas Cook but I will add that the service/ reaction from the Hotel and the TC Rep were not upto standard!!

It was our honeymoon and we had the best time, the kids enjoyed their selves and so did we. the reception staff were lovely and so helpful the bar staff were brilliant but did seem very tired!!
The 20 min walk to Bar Street was worth it everyone had a great time even the kids. Great hotel great holiday great location and if you get the chance go to the Alkion restaurant on bar st its fantastic and its got a kids play room so mums and dads can eat in peace.
Dont be put off by the locals hanging around they are just relaxing after work, they loved the kids and are very nice people.

Didn't watch the entertainment, but seemed popular with families with younger children.
Was worried about the position in Pafos, but in fact was good for walking to the upper & lower town & presumably quieter at night than the hotels around Nightlife Street.
Only rough pavement was that to the E&S supermarket, handily near.
Great holiday!

There were several pool areas some quiet some with music, this allowed choice for all.
The entertainment was typical holiday hotel. Our room was cleaned regularly was very comfortable and we were given plenty of fresh towels.
The facilities at the hotel were very good.
It was a bit of a walk to the centre, however there were busses. A large supermarket behind the hotel was of great use.
A visit to the troodos mountains in a jeep(Horizon) a must.
All in all a good holiday

| said: The Mayfair was in an excellent location, not right in the centre but close enough to walk to.
Apart from the odd cockroach we found in our room (which is normal for a hot country) the rooms and hotel were very clean and our room was cleaned every day.
The staff were friendly, especially the receptionists who spoke English well.
Although we ate tea at the hotel, we rarely stayed to watch any of the entertainment as we went in to the centre. But from what we saw it seemed enough to keep children occupied.
The second pool was lovely but there were not enough beds and umbrellas.
The food was ok, quite a lot of choice.
I would definitely stay at the Mayfair again!!

| said: We stayed in the Mayfair hotel in Paphos. The area the hotel was in was not as bad as we were led to believe and it was a pleasant 15 minute walk to the sea front.
The hotel was excellent, the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the reception where English was spoken, it also helped that some of the reception staff were English.
The food in the hotel restaurant was of a very high standard with plenty of choose from, there was something for every single taste. The chef was there every night to deal with any complaints (there were no complaints the two weeks we were there).
The cleaners in the hotel did an excellent job and were a credit to the hotel, they were also very friendly.
The entertainment was basic but as we did not stop in the hotel very much in the evening it would be unfair to pass comment in any detail.
We will definitely go back to this resort and would not hesitate to stay at the Mayfair again.

| said: The Mayfair Apartment, Paphos is a very good option for a stay in Paphos.
Just ten minutes walk from the nightlife and 2 minutes by taxis (which are 10seconds from the hotel) The pools are beautiful (especially the one with the watrerfall).
The weather is unbelievable but do put tan lotion on and plenty of sun-block!!!!
The World Cup was on and was available for viewing everywhere.
The location is okay but the sandy roads can be quite awkward at times and watch out for the fast cars which can zoom past at any times!
I would also state that the cars park anywhere (even on pavements so beware).
That saying, the majority of locals are pleasant, especially at the local Full Moon bar across from the apartments.
The staff are pleasant at the apartments and the actual room we had was clean, with no bugs at all.
Entertainment is typically Butlins Holiday Camp stuff but good fun.
We would definitely reccommend the apartments to anyone.

| said: We went the Mayfair in June 2006 and after reading all the reviews were a bit worried at what to expected. We arrived at about 11.30 at night and were told to follow the receptionist out of the front of our hotel back on to the road,we started to get a bit worried. He told us to go down a small dark road down the side of the hotel, now we were getting worried. We went down to the block that we were told and let ourselves in to our 2 bedroom apartment. It was huge the biggest apartment we have ever stayed in and as we had asked for a ground floor apartment it was right by the second pool and a nice bit of grass where the kids could play bat and ball.(Room 383.)
The room itself was bit shabby, eg. the fridge was a bit rusty on the outside, the plug where the air conditioning when in was a bit dodgy, and the fan in the second bedroom really swung around when you put on. but these were minor things, the room itself was clean and done the job.
The pools were very clean and tidy BUT the only thing I had to complain about was that there was not enough sunbeds and umbrellas to go around, and if you did not get there early enough you did not get one. People were putting towels on them really early and even though the rep had told us not to do this, it was a case of if you can't beat then join them. it was the only way. I did speak to the manager about this and he said that he had ordered 50 more beds.
The kids really enjoyed the kids club(age 4,6,10). The evening entertainment was ok typical 3* entertainment ie Mr Mair fair, Bingo, Quiz night, Robbie Williams act.
It's a 5-10 min walk to the bars and restaurants all pavements are now fine. A bit to far for the kids to walk to the harbour so it was a good job we had a car for 3 days.
All in all it's not a bad hotel and we would probably go again if we went back to Paphos.

The balcony was miniscule and our view was the back of an apartment block, mop buckets, old fridges etc. Second room (offered reluctantly) was cleaner but kitchen area old, fridge + cooker rusty. Pool areas were best aspect of the accomodation.

These rooms were 5238 and 5240 .we asked to be moved and this was done 3 days later. The rooms we were given were 124 & 126. These rooms were lovely and had a lovely pool view.
The cleaners were marvelous and are a credit to the hotel. The waiters and waitresses were also very pleasant and spoke very good English.
The food was very good most nights and the nights that we did not enjoy were because we did not like octopuss etc. Sunday night was a carvery and the meat was just perfect.
The dining room was spotlessly clean and there were plenty tables to choose from. On the few occasions that we ate out we went to the black eagle just down the road from the hotel where we were given the best food , service and a warm welcome, try the t-bone steak , it is just to die for.
The other restaurant we went to was fat mama's where we got mexican , american , italian food and was the best.
The roads in paphos leave a lot to be desired and you need to be very careful when walking. We went on the cruise to egypt and also the trip to the holy land which is well worth the money and we booked through socretes travel agent at the end of the street where the hotel is and we bartered with them to get a good deal.

The location was a bit of a worry when we first arrived on the Tuesday evening, but after waking up the next morning and being told we were only 10 mins walk from the town and the harbour we were more than happy.
Could not fault the staff in any of the hotel areas, Bar staff in particular were really helpful and friendly.
The rooms were basic but clean and housekeeping came in nearly every day to keep them tidy.
The entertainment team were excellant, (well done Laura, peter and Russell).
We would definately go back to this hotel in the future.

The entertainment staff were very friendly but each day was very repetetive, same pool games-same 4 songs at kids disco and we never won at the bingo!hotel set in built up area with just handful of bar/restaraunts and no paths-roads being done very dangerous with children.
The pool was so cold it left the childrens lips blue after being in there through-out the day.

The first day there was a few ants around, but you expect a few crawlies abroad and once we used a spray from the local hypermarket they never returned in the remaining 13 days. The pool area and cleanliness could not be faulted. Air conditioning was in working order and a must even in October.
There were people standing around in the streets at night but in no way did we ever feel intimidated or bothered by them in any way.

| said: We arrived late on sunday night and I thought oh were miles out. In the morning we saw the rep and she said its a 10 minute walk to bar street, we had family staying in the Paphos Gardens so we went down to bar st most nights.
We took taxis both ways very cheap, they seem to go the long way round beware the night before we were coming home we choose to walk and just as the rep said we found a little road lots of tavernas etc on it and at the bottom was bar st. Just wished we had known but thats life.
The Season was due to end soon and we booked a 1 bedroom apartment but on arrival were given a 2 bedroom with two terrace areas right on the pool side.
Very large living space great if you have 2 small kids.
Only problem was 1 cockroach the day after we arrived never seen any more ants were a problem all behind the fridge and on the side units so got a can of Raid and they pretty much went.
Entertainment for kids was good but too short. Adults they did bingo and a quiz and a few daft games.
Hire a car its a good way out upto Coral Bay but the beach is nice and the Coral Bay bars are a nice change from bar street. Latchi and Polis are very quiet but if you fancy the drive what the hell not enough there for a family.
I would go back again.

| said: As fourth time visitors to the Mayfair, we cannot praise it highly enough. The standard of cleanliness is excellent, the staff are friendly, very polite and extremely helpful. We spent our honeymoon there last year and were spoiled by the hotel, and received wine, roses and fruit this year for our anniversary. The reception staff are fantastic,no matter what time of day or night you need them. Both pool areas are clean and well appointed, with plenty of sun beds, umbrellas and small tables. The poolside staff are always on hand to take orders for refreshments and regularly bring round ashtrays to prevent any litter around the pool. The entertainment team work very hard during the day to keep both children and adults amused and their shows in the evenings seem to be very popular. The hotel location is ideal, 10 minutes from the nearest beach and 10 minutes from town, for all bars, restaurants and entertainment. The closest bar/restaurant to the hotel is the Full Moon, which is a well established bar and Yianni and his staff always provide a very warm welcome, football on tap and the best Full English in Paphos! We will definitely be returning next year to our friends at the Mayfair.

| said: Thompson’s rated this hotel a 3star plus, I'm afraid I cannot agree. Although the reception area was clean and tidy the toilets were not, the bins in the toilets were often over flowing with soiled loo roll and sanitary towels etc. We hired a fridge which was filthy, our bathroom was tiny the ceiling tiles were falling off, the toilet never flushed! The pool area was kept clean but the pools water was dirty.
The bar area was kept clean. The dining room was spotless and well furnished the hot food was awful and the salad was covered in oil. Some of the waiters and bar staff had a scam going on, if you go there give the waiters the right money or you may not get your change!!!
Infect don’t go to this hotel you'll be sorry!!

| said: What a fantastic holiday!!! Arrived home and booked immediatly for next year.
The location of the hotel is superb with only a ten minute walk to all the paphos nightlife, if you dont want to walk too far there are some great bars and restaraunts close by like Mr Chicken and The Full Moon.
There are shops and 2 supermarkets on your doorstep.
The Hotel is extremely clean and our room was cleaned everyday except Sunday the pool is cleaned every morning.
The staff are fantastic and very helpful maybe a bit slow in the bar, but, when serving us English we are not slow drinkers.
I would totally recommend Cyprus and I would definantly recommend the MAYFAIR!!!!!

| said: The Hotel itself was clean and presentable, situated in a fairly built up part of the town, but with dozens of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. After reading reports of this Hotel, we were quite worried, but on arrival were pleasantly surprised. The reception area was at least adequeate to it's 3* rating, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room on the 2nd floor had a view of roof tops, and little else. The best room views overlooking the pools seemed to go to the apartments. However, the room itself was spacious with a huge double bed, and plenty of wardrobe/cupboard space. The dining room was well set out, and breakfasts really couldn't be faulted. However, dinner was pot luck. There wasn't a great deal of choice, but what there was, was again adequate for it's 3* rating. Unfortunately, the vegetables left a lot to be desired. In the week we were there, the only veg with the meals were tinned, mostly mixed veg. As it was only May, and very early in the season, perhaps this will improve as the season progresses. The entertainment was provided by the resident team, who I must say work very hard and tirelessly. Frank in particular, a young Scot was very enthusiastic, and although we had no children with us, I noticed that he was a hit with them.
Overall, I would say that Pathos is a wonderful area with loads of great eating places, and plenty to see. The Mayfair Aparthotel is Fair. The Pools are good, and a holiday there can be as good as you want it to be, bearing in mind it is only 3*. We will definitely be visiting this area again, but probably not this particular hotel.

| said: last minute booking for a week away. Good deal on price. Late afternoon/evening when we arrrived and were a bit worried about location as it was quite built up (not other hotels). However in the light of day we were pleasantly suprised to find all the bars ten minutes walk away and the main harbour area 20 minutes walk away. Taxis and buses were inexpensive and reliable, clean , comfortable.
Two large pools and three small pools which were clean with comfortable loungers. Yes there are cats but we found this in other hotels in Paphos and we did not find them a problem.
Reception, bar, dining rooom were of a good standard with very helpfull staff. Quality of food and cleanliness in the dining room we found of a higher standard than a five star we had stayed in Nov 2003.
Fair standard in the two bedroom apartment although we felt the hire charge for TV and fridge a little over priced.
Overall we felt the standard was well above average, better than three star and we would use this hotel again.
