Breakfast consisted of toast and jam though you could pay to have eggs, bacon etc. We were given vouchers up to 200rupees a day to exchange against food.
Hotel was very basic though clean bedding and towels everyday
Convenient location for shopping and restaurants
Staff quiet ignorant, and ignored you if you tried to get help, not much personality or friendliness or willingness to help, there were no knives one morning at breakfast and we were sent around the houses between the bar and servery to get one. Getting juice in the morning was hit and miss. Had to wake up up night receptionist who was sleeping on the floor in reception area at 11.30pm to ask for the pillows we had requested earlier in the evening, this resulted in him having to phone the boy in the housekeeping room to give them to us - he had obviously also been asleep.

We got back from Goa on 2nd March after staying at the Osborne we stayed there about 10 years ago and oh boy what a change!!

The room boys were lovely and the reception staff were as well, but the waiters what can I say, if you didn't eat in there at night they just didn't want to know you we were totally ignored at breakfast they spent all their time talking to their favourites!!!!!! Who didn't move out of the hotel full stop.

This was such a change from all the other hotels we have stayed in over the past 10 or 11 years in the end we went up to them and asked to be served as we had paid for the extra breakfast we couldn't help ourselves some mornings.

I just didn't bother it wasn't worth the effort we got not goodbye when we left except from the lovely room boys who I must add got a good tip No way will we go there again.

We stayed in the Osborne Classic and it was very nice we got a bit of breakfast everyday and everybody couldn't do enough for you.

The room boys were brillant they made different pictures on our bed each day. In the hotel rooms they had a mini bar which is very cheap!

The room boys came every 3 days for the money and it was topped up with more drinks. I celebrated my bithday over there and all the staff kindly got me a cake it was very nice!

23 of us stayed at The Osborne and we were split between phases II and III. Each of the rooms were different, basic but very clean. Our room boy Sam, was a delight, always leaving different arrangements out of the towels on the bed. Room was very spacious, cleaned daily with fresh towels.

Every couple of days the room boy will catch up with you to settle your mini bar bill, normally early evening. We never found this an inconvenience.

All staff were really friendly who couldn't do enough for you. As we were there at the end of the season, breakfast closed down in phase III and we had to go across to phase II for it. Some alcoholic drinks had also run out. Breakast consisted of tea/coffee, toast and jam and fruit juice. Anything else is available at a small charge.

Pool size was good, though not many sunbeds. Also found that the pool was not really as clean as maybe it should have been but this could have been due to it being end of season.

All in all a very nice hotel and would recommend and return.

Very enjoyable stay at the Osborne with my only complaint being the same as the previous report... constant pressure to buy tickets for the evening themed meals.

After 4 or 5 days I think they got the picture that when and if I wanted to go I would ask them. Don't get me wrong, all the staff were very friendly and helpful, just this 1 gripe.

The breakfast consisted of fruit juice, tea and toast but for a less than a pound you could have eggs anyway you wanted or french toast.

The pool was not a bad size but as I prefer the beach I didn't actually use it.

I had a room in phase 2 which I asked for on arrival. Cost me an extra £65 for the A/C. The room was quite spacious with separate shower/wc. The fridge and sink were the only things in the kitchen. Oh and a cupboard as well ! Fridge was well stocked with water, juice and beer which was all priced very cheaply.

The room was basic but was always kept very clean.

Never sampled the entertainment as I like to go out and explore the surrounding area.

I would certainly use this hotel again if staying in Calangute but as the wife prefers Candolim I think that's where I will be going next year if we go back.

stayed at osborne in feb 2007 accomodation basic but very clean, staff great,we were bed and breakfast but we had several meals in the hotel which were very nice.the pool area was very quiet during the day but this was good for us as we are not too keen on the beach it was as though we had a pool in a villa.the cost of air conditioning is very expensive compared with everything else so dont bother ,all rooms have a large ceiling fan which is quite adequate .we have booked for feb 2008 again with the same friends, the same hotel .the manager opened the indoor bar to allow people to watch the fa cup which was on in the early hours in the morning .recommend a day out to the waterfalls and elephant wash and ride,go with one of the taxi drivers outside the hotel.eat at east meets west this is more upmarket also alspice

First time in Goa after being told by friends who have been for the past 8 years that its worth the journey, found the Orbourne resort not bad but shocked at the room, metal wardrobe, toilet and shower in one room, but what the heck were only sleeping in the room!

The staff were fantastic the room boys looked after you, room cleaned every day and bed linen changed every day.

You could leave money lying about and any valubles and nothing was touched, we left a pen one day and the room boy came up at night to return it and to say sorry that he had taken it when he did the inventory.

Never had breakfast as we always went to jolly jacks shack on the beach only 150rs for full incl tea and juice. Bonnys on the main street is small but good for snacks friendly staff.

Would rebook the Osbourne again but have opted to try Park Avenue at the cross roads to Baga for Feb 2008.

We got moved to this hotel from a hotel in the South of Goa and after the awful one we were in, the Osborne (phase 2) seemed great! The bar staff were always courteous but they did tend to keep on asking if you wanted to go to the evening buffets, which got quite annoying. They were on a commission for getting people to sign up. The pool was small but well maintained, there were only about 12 sunbeds in total though, which wasn't really enough but as it was a small pool it didnt really matter.

Our room was clean and spacious, on the ground floor by the pool. Breakfast was ok too, with nice omelettes and french toast. The evening entertainment left a lot to be desired, and this tended to get repetitive as well. The fire jugglers were ok though.

Overall we did enjoy our stay at the Osborne, it was ok for a basic hotel and to use as a base to explore the area. Thanks to Lorraine and Derek (posters below) for recommending the dentist!!!!

We visited the hotel in Feb. 2007 the hotel was on the whole very good the manager James was very pleasant but the reception staff was the worst I have ever come across the reception was very poor when we arrived and I must say after visiting Goa on three other occasions and enjoyed it we thought this time we may have made a mistake!!

They need a reason in customer care there was no welcome no information given us when we arrived all the receptionist staff were interested in was selling you air conditioning or to upgrade your room.

Bar staff were pleasant and meals good. Entertainment was not up to many rooms were kept clean.

As first-timers to Goa and having read many reviews we were pleasantly surprised at how good the Osborne was. Yes it's basic but exceptionally clean and the staff couldn't do enough for you.

We had no problems with the room boys coming for the mini bar money, if they saw us we settled up otherwise we left the payment on the fridge with the bill. The room boys were excellent and went the extra mile if you needed anything.

The location is excellent for getting around, close to everything and if you cant be bothered to go out Zicos just outside the gate does excellent food really cheap.

We liked it so much we are going back in April!

The Osborne is located set back off the Candolim to Calangute road near a lovely white chapel which is smack bang in the middle of the road (St Anthony Chapel)

The hotel has 3 phase blocks. We Stayed at phase 2 which seemed to be best block. It seemed to have a lot of people who are regulars to the hotel so that speaks for itself.

It has a fair size pool and hotel bar in this block.

We chose a room without air conditioning (eighty pound for 2 weeks). All rooms are different sizes and ours was on 2nd floor with balcony over looking pool. It was kept very clean every day.

The staff were helpful and friendly.

The breakfast was very basic but you could pay extra for more choice. We prefer to eat out anyway.

We used the laundry service which was fast and cheap.

When on holiday we only really use hotel as a base but if you are someone who enjoys hotel entertainment and eating and drinking in your hotel it fine for that. Its not a noisy bar. We would definitely return to this hotel.

A tip just ask when you arrive to have a look at couple of vacant rooms until you are satisfied with the room which most suits your needs.

Clean safe and friendly hotel.

Our 2nd trip to the Osborne in 3 years. Last time the only complaint we had was that the reception staff were not friendly nor helpful really in any way. Glad to report now much much better.

We were back again in phase 1 at back of the hotel complex, quite happy with that as we did not want aircon. Large apartment clean but basic accomodation.

Hotel has 3 swimming pools & 3 bars, 1 attatched to each phase. gardens gorgeous.

Entertainment some folk seemed to enjoy but listening to fellow holidaymakers warbling through their fav tunes(karaoke) is not our idea of fun so no way we stayed for any of it!

Osborne is in a good location at the Candolim end of Calangute near shops, bars etc.

The main problem that we had with the Osborne on this visit was that of the cleaners & mini bar guys, they insisted on waiting for us to get back in the evening and then coming into the room (if you ignored their knock) to demand the payment. Very intrusive especially when we were back in the room to have a shower before going out at night! The room guys walked straight into my 66yr old mum in laws room on 2 occasions when she was trying to get dressed, completely unacceptable. They did not, however do this more than once in my & my husbands room once told to get out by him loudly after ignoring our requests to come back later. We complained to reception & told reception that we would all come & pay our mini bar bills at least every 3 days or so, this kept the guys away from our room but they still carried on intruding to mum in laws room. They also blatently asked another female in our party for a monetary gift in the last few days of our holiday (which she refused!) We usually always tip room staff but after these problems we made a point of not doing it.

The Osborne needs to sort this out as it is a problem that otherwise spoils a good hotel.

Would we go back?? probably but would sort out the mini bar issue right from the start & have to hope they would get the message.

Spent two weeks at the Osborne. The first room they showed us was awful.

Went to reception and upgraded to a room with aircon. All was fine until the next morning when we realised our room was behind where they served breakfast and was awoken by tables being set up and clashing of pots and pans. No need for an alarm clock!

The room was basic and clean. The room boys were very good and nothing was a problem. Breakfast was fruit juice and tea/coffee and toast, although you could purchase a cooked breakfast.

I was not too impressed with the waiters who appeared to be arguing about who they should serve, and level of service appeared to depend on how much tip you give. The reception staff were always friendly and helpful.

I cant comment on the entertainment or food as we were out in the resort each night. I would return to the Osborne, but not in the same room.

We stayed at the Obsourne phase 3 a couple of years back and really enjoyed it so we decided to stay again. The rooms although basic were clean & good value for money, there was nightly entertainment a good pool and the staff were friendly.

However this time we found it a completly different experience. This time we were placed in Osbourne Phase 1 (presumably because we didnt want pay extra for air conditioning).

The rooms although clean were not of the same standard as phase III We found that some of the appartments had been sold off privately. Our neighbours were noisy one in particular had the TV full blast all night and until the early hours of the morning. We complained in all four times but nothing was done.

We stayed in phase II which was fine. Basic but very spacious and had a another bed in the lounge which was great as my mate snored! Rooms were kept spotless and cleaned every day with some rather funky towel creations. Room boys were great nothing was too much bother.

Only ate in the hotel once for a BBQ which i didn't rate much. But breakfast was fine.

Great location quiet as off the main road but very central.

The rest of the hotel staff were great, reception were fine as long as you didn't have a problem. Got given the wrong room, were supposed to have a pool view. Stood my ground after 10 mins of them telling me they didn't have one and telling me i would have to upgrade for £10 a night got given the pool view room that apparently didn't exist mmmm.

Unfortunately didn't have air con in the room which we really need the second week, they said they would let me know when one came available, but didn't so gave up asking, and spent the money on another leather jacket!

Entertainment was entertaining! bad club singer variety (which seemed to be the norm everywhere) but only had to put up with it when leaving for the evening.

I would definitely stay here again, good value for money and great location.

We found the Osborne Hotel to be basic, but spotless. The complimentary breakfast was adequate - tea/coffe and toast. The breakfast is charged for after 10.00am. But we rarely made this deadline anyway!! We usually ate in Zicos, near front reception.

We found the food in general a little more expensive in the hotel than at local restaurants. Same goes for the drinks. Of course compared to prices at home they were still really cheap.

The waiters and rooms boys were great, very friendly and helpful and always smiling. However, the reception staff were not so good. Everything was a bother for them. Interestingly enough you were only allowed access to your safety deposit box up to 8.00pm each evening.

Entertainment, which took place in two of the three phases while we were there was not great by any means. But again we were out most nights so were not too bothered by this.

Would definately go back, if fact awaiting details on purchase of an apartment there.

Stayed in Phase II (which from all accounts is the best) Large. comfy (but basic) room. Cleaned daily by the housekeeping staff who were excellent.

Breakfast is just tea and toast so we went 2 mins down the road to Zicos instead which was great.

Location is excellent - quiet, right in the middle of Calangute and Candolim. Hotel taxis were good and not much more expensive than down the road.

Would use it again as a base.

We stayed in Osborne 3, and because of this site I asked for a room away from the bars (less noise). The reception staff were going to put us into a poolside room, so I'm glad that I insisted.

Rooms very basic but clean, fresh towels and sheets daily.

The only bugs were

1) the constant selling of their 'entertainment nights' by the bar staff - we did not want to be mithered whilst at the pool or having a drink at the bars, and in the end we avoided going there

2) the room boys trying to catch you every day for payment of the mini bar in your room - as we were often disturbed just as we'd got back from the beach and were in various states of undress!! (the hotel needs to work out a better system)

3) after rinsing out our beach towels one night and putting out on the balcony, we were firmly 'told' by a phone call from reception that they had a laundry service and to use that. My partner took the call and I rang back stating that I was very aware of this; we'd used the laundry 3 times already and needed our beach towels daily. I think they gathered that I objected to the way they'd spoken to us and quickly changed their tune, saying there was no problem at all.

Breakfast was not worth hanging around for, as there are plenty of better options.

The room we had (DD6B) has a sliding door to the next room, I think so they can be joined and used as a family suite. This meant that we could hear everything from next door and this could be quite uncomfortable at times. I recommend changing if you get allocated this room.

Hotel situated in a nice quiet part of Calangute, which was perfect. There is a taxi rank outside, which the hotel recommends you use(so you're not ripped off)and we got to hate the daily walk past the resident taxi drivers hassling you for fares. Use others just up the road by the supermarket - much more polite and don't give you the constant sell whilst taking you somewhere. The taxi rates in reception give you a clear idea of what to pay.

Have stayed in the Osborne previously so was totally prepared for what we got. The rooms are really, really basic but for us, the location and the cleanliness more than make up for it. After all, if you're like us you only use the room for changing and sleeping!! The reception staff can be a little surly but all other members of staff, especially the boys who clean the rooms, are extremely friendly and will do anything to help. The rooms are cleaned daily to a very high standard and we got fresh sheets and towels daily.

I can't speak for the food at the hotel as we only use it as a base. Breakfast is included but this only consists of toast and tea/coffee, anything else is payable. We always eat breakfast out either at Babute's on the corner or Teama's on Candolim beach road.

All in all, a good budget hotel in a good, central location. We would definately stay again.

When I first arrived I was totally shocked by the room, I have been to Goa before and knew to expect basic but the room really was like a prison cell, a metal locker for a wardrobe and 2 rock hard beds. A mirror on the wall about 6ft away from the plug socket!

The staff were helpful though and after looking at 5 rooms I settled on what I considered 'the best of a bad bunch'. However once I had unpacked and spread all of my mess around the room it seemed a bit more 'homely' and despite being offered the chance to change resorts we decided to stay.

After the initial shock the hotel was okay, we got used to the room and settled in nicely.

The pools are small but clean but there are not really enough sunbeds.

Breakfast was okay although all that was included was coffee/tea and toast - eggs were extra!!!

Air con and tv's available but it is about an extra £10 a night (payable on arrival) and although they call it an upgrade it is literally the same basic room with a TV on the side and AC - there is nothing more 'glamorous' about these 'upgraded' rooms.

The staff were great - we stayed in Osbourne 3. Really friendly and helpful.

Probably wouldn't visit this hotel again as I know that there are better at the same price but overall not a bad 2 weeks there.

A good location for exploring, not to far to walk to the beach although we tended to go do Baga (walked along seafront or taxi) as it is more lively.

Very clean, basic hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast a bit stingy, tea/coffee and toast, extra for eggs.

Normally we prefer a first floor room, for security and privacy, but had the ground floor this time due to an injury. Near the bar and very noisy, but so what, you're on holiday. The boys who cleaned the room always made the towells into decorations, birds, fish etc, which was a nice touch.

We didn't use the security boxes this time, but somepeople advised bringing your own pad lock.

The pool was small but deep enough. We only ate there a few times and the food was good, and fairly cheap by hotel standards.

Fairly frequent disappearance of water and electricity, but this is Goa. One day the hot pipe from the geyster disconnected itself but this was soon rectified.

Entertainment OK. All in all more than adequate as a base to explore the Candolim/Calangute area.

Great location, best of both worlds for Calangute and Candolum.

Hotel very clean.

Didn't eat much at the hotel, plenty of eating places all around, reasonably priced too!

Hotel staff were very helpful and I would definitely visit this hotel again.

My only complaint would be air conditioning at extra cost, and you really need it.

We stayed in phase 2 I think it was!! The staff were very friendly and were always there when you needed them. The room was very basic as I had a ground floor room.

I was on my own right at the end of the block which didnt bother me just that the room was tiny and that i didnt have much room for all my stuff. Always had a good night sleep. But one thing that did worry me was that the bathroom window led onto the pool and as it was dark by the time we had a shower everyone that was eating there dinner could see into my bathroom. Another point would be that the boiler for the hot water was right next to the shower.

The food was nice what we had from the hotel but the entertainment was not really my thing.

My husband and I stayed at the Osbourne 6.01.06 for 3 weeks. What can I say about this hotel, except that its great. Rooms basic but does that matter you only sleep and change there. Cleanliness (A Star) Facilities excellent.

Staff well they made our holiday, Our room boy (sandeep) was lovely, friendly and nothing too much trouble for him.

Security Staff were excellent especially Chotu (I don't think that was his real name).

WILL DEFINATLEY BE BOOKING FOR NEXT YEAR.

PS had all the laundry done at the hotel 2 days before we came home,(to save me a job when i got back)
It was washed, ironed and folded to an excellent standard. Would definitely recommend this as so cheap.
If any one goes to the Osbourne before we go again say hello to sandeep and chotu for us.

Great hotel we stayed for three weeks in January. From checking in to cheking out the staff could not do enough for you.

The rooms are basic, we were in phase 2 if you look in the First Choice Tropical the second floor balcony on the left was our room.

tThe room was cleaned every day with fresh towels and bedding. I dont know if all the rooms are the same in this block but in our room the was 2 arm-chairs a table, as you walked in then 2 beds dressing table (with draws)and bed side cabenets. There was another room off this that seemed to be a kitchen with just a sink and fridge in it.

The fridge was stocked with soft drinks, beer and water which you could buy for not much more than super market prices. This to was stocked daily as you used it. Off this room was the bathroom again basic but always clean with constant hot water.

The hotel food was fine, we really only had snack food in the hotel but both the Indian and English snacks were good and not costly. The beer was aso cold and cheep. The location was also good plenty of taxis outside to take you to either calangute or candolim.

A couple of bars near reception or just a short walk to the main road plenty of small bars and good eating places. Again plenty of taxis around here to. The beach was about 10 ~15 mins away depending on what part you wanted to go.

We walked down holiday road to the beach so you can always stop for a drink on the way down.
Not a lot to say about the entertainment had pub singers on most nights also barbacue evenings that are'nt to bad if you don't fancy going out.

Would def go back to this hotel great value for money we paid less than £1,200 for 3 weeks.

Was in Goa the year before and stayed in a hotel very close to the Osborne resort and that was a 3 star but
the Osborne was so much better.

Nice and clean excellent staff. I love the place so much I have just sold my home and I am off to Goa in November to buy a property.

This hotel has a lot to offer try it and you will not be disapointed.

P.s i am a travel agent working for First Choice and the amount of people I have sent who have re booked is
amazing.

As it was my first time to Goa I didnt know what to expect, the hotel was very clean clean towels and bedsheets daily, the bed and breakfast is a bit of a con as its only tea, coffee and toast but you can order different things for breakfast at a cost but as its that cheap it didnt really matter.

The staff at the hotel is excellent and very very friendly the entertainment was ok but as we rarely stopped in the hotel at night I can hardly comment.

Staff were very friendly and helpful.

James and Eric were stars. Had a nice but basic room on the ground floor and every morning the waiters brought our breakfast to us on our balcony. So cool.

Went out at night to the bistro on Baga beach mainly, which is owned by our very good friend Cagey. Would recommend his bbq on a Thursday night.

Hotel was very clean as was the pool. Will definitely be staying there again.

The hotel was great and it was all really clean. The room boys come in every day and made beautiful patterns with our towels.

The food was ok but very basic but that made no difference because we ate out nearley every night. Our hotel was in a great location with taxis outside and there was a few really great taxi drivers and they were Andu,Peter, and Preshan.

The staff in the hotel were great and were always willing to help you.there were two inparticular and they were raj and hillary.there was always something happening at the hotel in the night like live music and barbecues but as I said me and my family ate out most of the time.

I would love to go there to live but I am only young, but my sister has gone out to live with her son and he's at school picking up the language.

I have been out there twice and booked to go back out in november 05 but overall I loved the Psborne and cant wait to go back.

basic but very clean hotel. clean sheets and towels every day.continental breakfast, but hot food also available for a small charge.the hotel restaurant was o.k.with various theme nights, but eating out is so cheap and with so many restaurants to try we only ate at the hotel a couple of times.the location is in a fairly quiet location but with easy access to many bars, shops etc.the centre of calangute can be reached in 5 minutes by cheap taxi(50 rupees).we found all the staff at the hotel very friendly and helpfull which helped towards the enjoyment of our holiday.
entertainment is not very exciting, but we tend not to stay in the hotel in the evening.
in conclusion a very good hotel for a 2 star property and we shall be returning in october this year.

Osborne resort has 3 separate blocks with their own pools (you can use all/any pools).

Clean but basic accommodation in a great location in Calangute. Majority of staff fantastic (just a couple of cleaners were a bit odd - wouldn’t replace towels & practically accused mum in law of stealing them - who'd bother nasty grey threadbare numbers!!)

Both of our party had large living room & separated bedroom, wet style shower & 2 balconies. Mini bar in room. Hot water always seemed to work fine.

Breakfast not worth the wait B&B was tea/coffee & toast which took hours to appear. Don’t bother instead buy rolls/ham/fruit from the shops nearby- much nicer & water boilers easy to find in the supermarket too.

Hotel has 2 bars & entertainment (bit dire) alternated between the 2 at night. Bars good for a last drink on your way home from nights out.

Hotel restaurant we only tried once & had to wait hours for food to appear - maybe we were unlucky that night but there are so many cheap places nearby & who wants to spend their holiday in the same place every night??? Not us.

Would definitely recommend the Osborne and would return anytime.

This was our 3rd visit to the Osbourne and I think it's a case of familiarity breeds contempt. Our request for a certain room 11 months before did not happen and despite booking our own taxi from the airport we were put in a room on the top floor which you could only get to by climbing up the stairs. To be fair because we were there for 3 weeks we were moved after the first week so that sorted that one out. The staff (waiters, bar staff, security and room boys) are extremely hard working and cannot be faulted although the room boys (who were all different this year) seem to be getting a little bit greedy. The hotel itself is very basic but is kept clean and the food is quite nice although we usually went across the road for breakfast to Zico's a family run establishment which was extremely good. The reception staff were not particularly helpful and the management of the hotel put in a brief appearance at the Christmas and New Year festivity nights. We love Goa and you cannot beat it for the Goan people, the food, the drink and the weather but we think we will try another hotel next time.

At first when we arrived we wanted another hotel due to it being our first time and the unknown, this hotel is very basic, but once we had slept on it we were fine. The staff at the hotel and the people of Goa are all very nice genuine people. The hotel rooms were very clean. We eat out most nights with the food being excellent, never had a bad meal. Tried to get back to the Osborne this year 04/05 but was late in booking so going to another hotel. Entertainment was ok. We were there for Christmas and New Year when it is at its most expensive but hogmanay on the beach is just unforgettable with all the beach shacks playing there music and setting off their fireworks as the bells approached, unbelievable.

Good basic hotel, excellent central location for North Goa. Rooms kept clean, with clean sheets everyday.

Cosy feel, as seperated into 3 blocks with own pools. Great pool for the kids to play in, which is important as the sea at Calangute can be a little hairy for young children.

Food is poor compared to what is available everywhere else. I would not recommend AI at any hotel in Goa as the food is so fantastic and cheap.

Entertainment don't bother.
