The breakfast was adaquate and hot. The views are spectacular and if you are looking for an informal friendly hotel I would recommend it.

| said: Hotel had a brilliant view, but appeared outdated and run down (tired). In it's day it was probably the best. The room had plastic patio chairs, rubber curtains and a balcony door which did not lock. The towels which were white and clean were so thin you could almost see through them and the sheets were the same. Only TV channels in bedroom were Italian, although sky was available downstairs. For an English speaking country this did not seem acceptable. Staff were very helpful, but the reception area was scuffed and old looking. the entertainment was very basic. There was very little choice with breakfast and the evening meal looked very bland. It would only rate a 2 star as far as we are concerned until improvements made, which would not take too much in outlay.

| said: I've just got back from not staying there. The room they offered me was a single when I ordered a double.
It stank of sewage and the window open into a well. The air con made a very loud clacking noise - I didn't stay.
When I went back the next day they had moved me to a double which was a bit better. But the bathroom still smelt. So I stayed in the Maritim Antonine. Which was very nice and the price at 20L was very nice as well.

| said: We stayed at the Panorama for 1 week and found the hotel quite dated inside but clean and tidy.
The food was of a buffet style with a different main each night and the usual cake and icecream for desert. All the food was of a good standard cooked properly and tasted ok apart from the tinned veg we seemed to have every night!.
The hotels location was the best feature perfect! Great views from the room and the dining room of the whole of the bay excellent!.
The hotel staff on a whole were great, always helpful polite and all spoke perfect english mind you 50% of them were English!.
The hotel laid on entertainment each night, live groups, solo singers and request music players although I don't think young children would find it interesting.
The hotel had a small pool nothing huge but ok for children and a games room in the basement which was not worth a look at all!!.
Would we visit this hotel again, no my answer would have to be but for the small price we payed it was worth it and was a good base to go from each day in our hire car.

| said: This hotel is certainly not worthy of the 3 star rating- more like minus 3 star.
Poor choice of food, same selection of vegetable 5/7 nights.
Towels changed daily, but bed linen not changed once throughout our stay (2 weeks).
Shower room- full of mildew, and dirty- despite "allegedly" being cleaned daily.
Balcony door broken, does not close properly- no lock.
Totally inadequate seating facilities in bar area and reception- (brochure states "TV lounge") for up to 120 guests.
So-called "games-room" in filthy basement, being used as a storage for broken and ancient furniture.
Holiday Rep witnessed all of the above and was appalled- but situation remained the same 5 days later.
We will never visit this hotel again, and urge others not to also.
Would love to know just how this hotel has a 3 star rating. Whats it being compared to?

| said: We found the staff pleasant and helpful, eg when we lost our key.
The location and views were great, but I was glad we had a hire car to get down to the beach etc.
We were not so impressed with the food and were glad only to have booked B&B: attention to quality would have made such a difference eg fresh juices, appetising and variety of fruit, decent coffee and jams and perhaps some yoghurt. It all seemed very budget.
The cleaning of the bathrooms was not adequate and I am not sure that it was done every day, even though the rooms were.
As a family with 2 teenage kids, we did not find we fitted the age profile (mostly much older than us); luckily we had friends elsewhere on the island to socialise with.

| said: My main concern wasn’t the hotel more Thomson as when I booked this holiday I told them that we were both young (18 and 19) so could we be based in the heart of Malta were the nightlife happens. We arrived at the airport only to be scared to death by a tour rep telling us as we were two young girls here on our own it wasn’t safe to leave our hotel!
We arrived at the hotel at 1am and picked up a leaflet on the hotel which wasn’t to our satisfaction as it said there was no entertainment on except on a Friday which was a 60s singer. The buses stopped at 10pm so we couldn’t even go out and find something or we wouldn’t be able to get home and with the comment the rep made we were terrified.
The next morning we got up at 7.30am for breakfast before our welcome meeting at 8.30am we grabbed a sandwich and waited in the reception for the rep. 10.30am came and still no sign of the rep we phoned and phoned but she kept saying she was on her way the last time I phoned her 10 mins after I had spoken to her on 1 of the previous calls she was now saying she had already been and we weren’t there. We had been there since 7.30am and now things were really getting to us we just wanted to go home. If it wasn't for the English receptionist reassuring us that we would be ok it would have been a nightmare.
The hotel wasn’t very good for sun bathing as the hotel was blocking the sun and the cleaner was also the waitress and barstaff.
The entertainment was poor but we made our own in the end.
This hotel is suitable for pensioners anyone under 60 would not enjoy it so be warned, change your hotel if you are younger than 60yrs.

| said: When we arrived we were horrified to find the room was dirty.
The toilet shower and sink had black mildew around them, the pillows were dirty and stained the counterpane was dirty and stained the curtains had stains on them. The door to the balcony would not slide properly the shower cubicle was broken.
The hotel lobby was full of suitcases belonging to guests who were departing that day we were told our room was clean! but the beds were not made. On calling the lift we found that we could not get in as it was filled with dirty laundry and rubbish that had been cleared from the rooms.
In our room the mattresses were stained and ripped, the hotel was partially carpetted and thay were disgusting we felt we could not put our feet down on them.
We asked for a room move and were given one the following day this was more acceptable and we made the most of what was a very bad job.
Other guests who visited the hotel had benn moved to other hotels in the area.

| said: This hotel is situated on a ridge with spectacular views of the sea and Mellieha bay. Also wonderful views of Gozo and Comino.
Virtually every room has sea view. You would have to be very unlucky to have a side rrom. Not very many of them. Hotel staff very friendly. Room cleaned every day.
Hotel in good position, only a five minute walk to village through beautiful church courtyard. Although a long walk to beach down steep and winding roads buses are plentiful and cheap. Would definitely visit this hotel again, food was very basic. We only had bed and breakfast and if you like sausages and scrambled egg you were okay for breakfast although a variety of cereal available and toast. Dining room staff could have been a bit more on the ball as there never seemed to be enough cups.

| said: We were pleasantly suprised by the Panorama as were had heard a horror story about it just a few days before our holiday. The views from the hotel were magnificent we could see the whole of Mellieha bay, Comino and Gozo.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We had clean towels daily and beds were changed alternate days. The food was more than adequate with a good selection every day.
The only drawback to this hotel is that it sits on a hillside hence the fantastic views so is not suitable for everyone, however the bus service is regular and there is always car hire for people with walking difficulties.
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would not hesitate to stay at the Panorama again

| said: This hotel definitely needs updating. On returning home we compared the picture in the brochure and it was obviously taken in the better days! The sheets and towells have seen better days (some i wouldn't have kept as rags), the carpet in our room was disgusting and the toilet broke repeatedly. The music nights were OK but were the same the next week. The breakfasts were fine if you liked egg, sausages and very crispy bacon and didn't mind setting you own table every day (unless you got down early and then you had to wait for the hot stuff to come out from the kitchen). Evening food was rather plain but edible and hot. The location was a bit off the beaten track but as we like walking it didn't bother us too much. The view was superb. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful, the waiters/waitresses needed to speed up at breakfast times though. Would not visit this hotel again and would question the 3 stars it displays!

| said: The views from the hotel are what make this place ideal. So calm and peaceful. The staff were very friendly but the hotel rooms could do with an update and the towels though clean every day were quite threadbare. The pool is small and also the sunbathing area but the worst thing was the lack of sunbeds.Out of 20 around the pool at least a quarter were broken and the sunmats on the loungers were tatty and dirty. The breakfasts catered for the British(whether that is good or bad) and were hot, plentiful and tasty. The evening meals gave a choice and tho they were not cordon bleu were sufficient and well cooked. The three nights of entertainment were enjoyable but we were glad they finished at 11.00.There was no need for nightly entertainment as being a small hotel there were people to chat to. My sister and I had a lovely relaxing time and would not hesitate in going back.

| said: I must admit being a young couple first impressions wern't great (location), although by the second day we felt completly at home. The hotel offers everything one could ask for, peace & quiet, good views, freindly staff & most important a plesent swimming pool. The location of the hotel was the only thing that put us off (at first) but once you had a look around there was everything we could possible want & need. Melleia Village has a few bars and restaurants which was ideal for a few quiet evenings but if your looking for somewhere with a lot more night life then either get a bus or taxi to 'st pauls' which is roughly 10 minutes from the resort itself! "Melleia bay" was also nice although walking up the hill is not recommended The panaroma was a great retreat and we wouldnt hesitate going back

| said: This has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Our room was sooo small, (it was one of the end rooms) and really noisy, I swear those wall's are made of cardboard. During the night (every night!) we could hear pipes rattling, whenever anyone next door, in the rooms below/above us turned on their taps or flushed the loo. We hardly slept. I reported this to the receptionists, but they were not very helpful, (rather rude infact!) they refused to move us to another room, even though the hotel was half empty! (april 2001). I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy, and to top it all - it's in the middle of nowhere. It was my first visit to Malta, I had such high expectations, as it is a country I had always wanted to visit, but this hotel has completely put me off ever going back!
regards
sally

| said: stayed there in May 2002 and this was a very good small family hotel - nice rooms - make sure you ask for a sea view - these are the best rooms!
Fantastic views, but this does mean a long walk to the beach; but it's not bad downhill and the buses are so cheap and regular it's easy to get one back up the hill.
I loved the beach at Mellieha Bay and in May it was perfect - not too crowded, very warm and lovely water for swimming. I can imagine that it would all be unbearably hot in August, though!
Malta has a lot to offer and I think this is a good base - Valetta is a must-see, but I'm not sure I would want to be living there - too crowed and hectic.
Travel agents tried to put me off by saying that Malta had no beaches and was rocky - but it was great!!

| said: i booked the panorama hotel for two weeks in July 2002 we had two rooms ours was over the entrance door to the bar, i didn't find the hotel noisy just the opposite calming and tranquil. just what we wanted, the pool was small but the kids one15yrs two 11 yrs enjoyed it plenty going on an easy walk to the village plenty good friendly bars, lee my 15yr old lad made friends with David the young waiter and went clubbing with him. the staff are all very good and after a short time most were on first named terms and all were very helpful, never to busy to help. they have a lot of repeat custom so they do something right.we have stopped in Buggiba/Qawra in the palm court,San pawl twice, santanna, international club, and paradise bay, but non we think are as nice and as handy as the panorama, no timeshare touts no noisy car horns at 6am,
great views from your balcony, and a barman that doesn't ignore you (PAUL) you can get from there to anywhere on the island in less than an hour, i gave up in July trying to park in St pauls it was a nitemare so i said to St pauls and went somewhere less busy.i will be going back this year to the panorama and hopefully in many years to come
