The hotel is in a fantastic location and is extremely clean. Maids changed bedding and towels everyday.
We holidayed in September so knew we were taking a chance with the weather. We had half a week of sun.The hotel looks great while the sun is out, very plush fixtures and fittings.
When it rained it was a different story. Buckets overflowing everywhere catching all the leaks. The restaurant was swimming! People were struggling to keep upright with their trays of food.
Only one in our group is a fussy eater, the other three of us can usually find something to satisfy, not here tho, the food is absolutely awful.
Some advice, take some smaller change with you if you can. The bellboy (beefcake would have been a more suitable name) insists on taking your luggage and then stands there until you pay him, expensive when you arrive with only 10 lev notes.
Definately not a 5* hotel, a 3* at most.
I don't think i'll ever go back to Bulgaria, if i did it wouldn't be at hotel.

i went to bulgaria in augest i think the hotel was very clean, the maids brought clean towels in daily. i didnt like the breakfast on a morning but tea was ok apart from the meat it wasnt fully cooked enough. i preferd to eat out of the hotel insted because the food was very nice and cheap. the location of the hotel was brilliant its right next to everything the beach is oposite. i thought the waiters was friendly but the reception staff never seemed to smile and when our tv broke in our room they said they would send some one to fix it but they never did.i didnt go to the entertainment in the hotel so i dont no what it was like. i would visit this hotel again as i did like it.

The food is generally poor in the resort, in my opinion and the hotel was as good as any restaurant we visited. Huge buffet selection for both breakfast and dinner. Towards the end we stayed in the Hotel to eat and gave up trying to find a really good restaurant. One evening we went to "Happy" reastaurant and Jenny ordered steak, they never asked, how she wanted it cooked, looked at us as if we had two heads when we asked for a steak knife and put 1.60 on the end of the bill, for ketchup.

OH...real scamble for the sun beds every morning, not nearly enough of them. There will be more available in the new pool when it opens, but the location of this pool is poor comared to the main pool.

chaika beach hotel was beautifully decorated and very clean. the maids there were very nice and cleaned my room daily however they start to ramble on in a different language to you about things that you dont understand.
the staff at the hotel were hurrendous! when we ordered our water they damand pay me. and then we got accused of not paying them one night when we gave them a tip.
we asked the staff where the water park was they just smiled and pointed out the door. what a great help
the food isnt very nice in the hotel its like frozen food to be honest.
i wouldnt ever go back to this hotel.

Chaika Beach hotel is perfect if you are looking for a clean central hotel that is clsoe to the beach; the rooms were clean and the location was second to none; it is not a 5 star, a 4 star or a very good 3 star by our standards;
the food leaves a lot to be desired but it is so cheap to eat out there was never a big problem; food is geared primarily towards German palets;
staff were friendly although cleaners had a habit of walking into rooms without knocking and caught my girlfriend a few times getting out of the shower!
all in all a good hotel to stay at and good value for money...

We liked this hotel very much, it was lovely and clean, the rooms were large and comfortable, loads of hot water all the time and the maids were in every day.Really good location, right in the centre of things. The pool left a bit to be desired, it looked nice but there was no room round it by about 10am and it was in the shade a lot of the time anyway so not very warm. The beach which is right outside the hotel is so nice that we wouldn't have bothered with the pool anyway.
The Food was excellent, tons of choice with fresh bread rolls baked on the premises and the meat dishes in the evening were great, the dining room was a bit chaotic at times, they didn't seem to have enough crockery etc so you sometimes had to wait for a few minutes for mugs or knives, didn't bother me! I was on holiday what's the rush but a lot of people moaned their heads off about it! The dining room staff were nice enough but the girls on reception and the change desk were another matter, very stuck up and a bit of a "not bovvered" attitude, I asked the girl on the change desk if she could change a note and I nearly withered and died from the look she gave me!
I would choose this hotel again, I thought it was good value for money.

The location of this hotel is excellent. Not only is it right next to the beach, but it's in the centre of Sunny Beach. We were considering the Victoria Palace, but so glad we chose the Chaika Beach as the Victoria Palace is right up one end of Sunny Beach. The only downside was the lack of sunbeds around the pool.

Chaika Beach is a lovely hotel, we thought it was one of the best there. It is literelly right on the beach and in the middle of everything.

We Found it very hard to get a sunbed round the pool, there isnt nearly enough and plenty room for more. The only way we got a bed was if my partner got up at 7am and put towels on the bed and stayed there til i got up. We hardly had breakfast together as one of us had to stay with the beds or the life guard throws the towels off. I think thats a good idea but he doesnt do it every day, ours were thrown off on our first day so we didnt chance it again.

The pool itself was nice, but cold. The jacuzzi never worked once when we were there.

The cleaners were in our massive room everyday and the towels were changed every day too, which was great.

Food wise, i thought it was average, got a bit bored of it after 2 weeks. There was one waiter who could speak english and he was really nice to my son!

The reception staff were, im afraid to say, not the best. We paid a lot of money for our safe and they said they didnt have change to give us, to come back the next day, which we did, then they said they gave us the money! We never got our change. They were unhelpful when asking for bus routes, times, openiong times of places etc. They seemed to know nothing about the resort and they never have a smile on their faces. Their english was limited. Do not buy a paper from reception as they slap on an extra lev.

There is an acrobatic show in the restuarant but we never went. A man and a woman try to get people to do water polo, aqua gym, volley ball, darts etc but nothing for the kids to do.

I would still go back to this hotel, even after the runnings with the staff! ITs location and cleanliness that make it the hotel that it is.

Great hotel!
Ideally located, you only have to walk across the promenade and you are right on the beach.
Rooms were very clean & spacious, I would recommend getting a sea view if possible as it is well worth it for the view.
There was a great variety of food to choose from and I never saw any repeating on dishes for the week we were there. The hot food was always piping hot and there was lots of choice for dessert.
We found the staff to be pleasant, somestimes there is a Language barrier, but what do you expect you are in in there country!
Recommend taking your own plug for the bathroom sink as they don’t seem to give you one! And plug adapter as we couldn’t buy one any where!

This is the cleanest hotel that I have ever stayed at!
When we were dropped off by the bus, we thought that they had left us at the wrong hotel (as did the other large family group that were there at the same time!)The hotel is right on the promenade, and we got a pool and sea view, which was great! We met another couple who had been given a room at the other side of the hotel and they had a view of the bins, so if you are booking for this hotel, make sure you ask for a pool view. The hotel staff were very friendly, especially the people on the bar and the maids, who seemed to work 24/7.

The food gets a bit repetative, but eating out is so cheap, so that doesnt really matter.

I would definately definately definately stay here again.

We have just arrived back from Sunny Beach and stayed in Chaika Beach hotel.

The cleanliness wasnt too bad could be a little better.

We stayed on the half board basis there was always something there for you to eat restuarant was sometimes at bit chaotic. Staff were friendly enough spoke very little English but always got what you asked for.

The location was excellent was in the middle of the resort right on the beach.

The reception staff could have been a bit more helpful with problems even thought we never had any our friends did...there was no entertainment within the hotel apart from a paino player and a singer in the seamans bar....love the resort would go back to Sunny Beach again but to a different hotel.

Hotel was very clean and the cleaners were very friendly.

Restaurant was chaos everyone was just walking into each other and there was no one really to direct you. My partner wouldn't even come down for breakfast in the morning as he couldn't face the frantic atmosphere. Cutlery was slow coming out so once getting your meal you were waiting around and also for cups in the morning. Table cloths were absaloutly discusting and I had to clear the table myself whilst trying not to heave over the left over stains.

Didn't even see any entertainment in the hotel as just made sure less time was spent in there apart from in our room.

Hotel staff were very rude at the reception and dinning room with very little English spoken.

We have just returned from 2 weeks in sunny beach and loved it!
We stayed in Chaika beach and thought it was a lovely hotel.

Very clean and staff really helpful.

Rooms were great- we had a 7th floor room but moved to a 5th floor room (safter balcony for the 5 year old & better view) but a little noisy at night- not enough to stop you getting to sleep though.

Location was brilliant! 50mtrs to the beach which again was lovely, and close to the centre.

We found the food fine. Lots of choice and... Hot!

Pool was really nice, but such a lack of sunbeds! Lifeguard will remove your towel if you reserve a sunbed!

We only watched the entertainment one night, and we thought it was quite good.

Feel free to contact me if you want any more information.

Just returned from this hotel and couldnt be happier, it was impressive on arrival and staff were very helpful.

The room was bright, airy and spotless, The location was brill as we were central on the beach with a wonderful pirate themed beach bar opposite (spent a lot of time there just relaxing over coffee). The staff in the bar were lovely and friendly.

The hotel had no entertainment but there was any amount of bars with music etc. surrounding it if required!

The hotel food was varied and hot! I recommend the soups at dinner...delicious!

Bad points...No tea facilities in the rooms, so bring a travel kettle and mugs!!! The hair dryer is rubbish in bathroom..bring your own.

Overall Loved the hotel.. Catered foodwise mainly for Germans and Irish! English guests didn't appear too happy....Don't expect chicken nuggets!! hope this helps anyone travelling.

I would heartily recommend the Chaika Beach. Just stayed ther for a week and if I revisit Sunny Beach, I would definately try to stay there again.

Travelling just on my own, I got a twin room which was well cleaned every day. My room was spacious and had a near 180 degree view of the sea and promenade with a genorous balcony.

I thought the food was good. I may have a cast iron stomach which nothing usually upsets, but not only I, Nobody I met complained about any dodgy food. It may not be cordon bleu, but if you want that, go to your villa in Tuscany!!

I found the staff both helpful and attentive (with few exceptions),with the bellboy being very keen to assist (sometimes a bit to keen).

The hotel itself is located a very short walk from the centre of everything but far enough away to not be disturbed by any noise.

People have marked this place down for evening entertainment and maybe this is where it does suffer a bit but with the Animation team being both enthusiastic and hard-working to please around the pool and hotel throughout the day with activities such as Beach Volleyball, Darts competitions and Bulgarian lessons, I think this cannot be criticised. I even ate my evening meal whilst watching a local dance display one night. As I have mentioned you are so near the hub of the town, if there is no evening entertainment on, Go Out!!!

Criticisms-Very few.
1-Food was a bit on the greasy side, they did seem to like cooking the food in oil a bit too much.

2-The Room. Could've done with more lighting in the main area, only wall lights did not illuminate the room sufficiently to see much at night. Mirrors were placed too low to stand and check your hair before going out and the one in the main part of the room was obscured by the television. Not enough electrical plug sockets either! The room may have been a little noisy for those who don't keep the same hours as me (late morning to 2a.m.ish as it was just a floor up from the "Irish" pub.
Bathroom, my shower cubicle (my room had no bath!!) had very little in the way of a shower curtain, with only one half of one side of the shower being protected, It was inevitable that whenever I showered, I would flood the floor. No sink plug supplied (just as well I take my own on holiday after precious experiences with this)

3-A little uncomforatble being looked at by people passing on the prom, that is outweighed by the people taking photos of the hotel as it's a beautiful building both inside and out.

So in summary it's not the Ritz, but is a beautiful hotel with a fantastic interior and exterier. Both the Club Mystic (Nightclub) and the Fishermans (not very Irish) Bar were very good with music in the Bar provided by the hardest working musician in Bulgaria (He plays the grand Piano at dinner as well.

Very few complaints from me, I had a wonderful week and would like to urge anyone visiting Sunny Beach to stay at the Chaika Beach.

We arrived early afternoon & were immediatly impressed with the reception area & the room was even better. A huge room with a view overlooking the pool. Very nice & very clean, the cleaners changed towels every day & the sheets every other day.

Our only complaint was with the dining room, they didn't appear to have enough staff to clear the tables, consequently you had to clear yor own table & the tablecloths were invariably covered in stains from the earlier diners. Not very appetising!

At evening meal, the staff seemed more concerned with serving drinks, which had to be paid for (generating tips), than clearing tables and because most of the guests were German, the meals were not very appealing to us.
We only had two breakfasts & 3 evening meals at the hotel, we ate out for the rest of the holiday.

The hotel has an Internet Access room which I used several times (5 lev per hour), but we found the hotel bar very expensive. I was charged 12 lev for a bulgarian brandy & coke & 18 lev for a bottle of red wine.

A nice hotel but clearly not 5 star & in my opinion, not catering for British clientele.

Have been coming to Sunny Beach for 5 years, this year will be my 6th.have stayed in different hotels each time and this one was lovely!!

The rooms are not very big, however they are clean!!we were very lucky the hotel gave us 2 rooms next door to each other the kids thought it was brill being in a room on their own ours had a sea view!!

Yes the food wasn't brilliant but still a reasonable choice if you could get past the germans to eat it!! i'm a fussy eater and always managed to find something!

The only downside to the hotel in my opinion would be the pool!! not really much in the way of a childrens section and the main half of the pool is quite deep!! The pool round the back is the same no shallow area and very cold as it doesn't get alot of sun.

All you sun worshippers beware of the lifeguard! If your bum is not on your sunbed at 9am your towel is swiftly removed no arguments the only entertainment is the lifeguard!!

Many people complained in different languages,he just points his finger at the sign and shrugs his shoulders. Many people brought out their breakfasts, and ate it on the sunbeds which is what we did,one would get the breakfast, while the other guarded the sunbeds, worked quite well but you still have to be up well before 7am for a decent spot!

It has to be said that this hotel is one of the better ones I have stayed in! but they are now building so many new ones it is hard to make a choice.

My tip would be if your budget would allow always go for at least a 4* hotel.bulgarian food is served warm, not piping hot like home.i try and just book b&b although this is getting harder to do,but at least it doesn't tie you down, and you can try different places.

I myself have found a wonderful little place by hotel Mercury along the artist's street it is run by a lovely couple Georgy & Galia and I don't go anywhere else the company is wonderful lots of brits, good food(never been ill once!!),if you find it try it!!!

I recently visited this hotel which I travelled with first choice. The hotel cleanliness was ok could of been a lot better. For instance, the table clothes in the restaurant where absolutely filthy at some points but at another points where clean.

The hotel rooms where ok with the cleanliness.

The hotel food was disgusting it was all mostly covered in a brown liquidly sauce which wasn't very nice.

The hotel location was fabulous it was located at the rear of the beach it was stunning.

This hotel has hired not very nice staff unless you leave them a tip. Also this hotel isn't built for British holiday makers - which I am myself - none of the staff can speak English mostly German and they are very arrogant.

The entertainment is too bad to explain.

I would never visit this hotel ever again becauase the cleanliness and entertainment are rubbish. The food wasn't any better.

The location was brilliant right infront of the sunny beach and your pools were good but one of them was so,so cold.

When 15 of us went,my family and family's friends we thought all the same RUBBISH and never again.

The weather was also not very good, we all sat down relaxing on the beach for 5 minutes and the rain poured down. We had thunder storms 2 days aswell and flooded our hotel.

I know I'm only thirteen but believe me never go to this hotel.

We booked and arrived at the hotel in early hours of the moning,5am - we were imediatly surprised that the front outside our balcony (we were on 7th floor)was still full of life and noise with people on there way home - this is not a venue for a quiet restfull holiday we were repetadly woken each night we were ther,We got very little sleep & rest due to having a sea view room. The hotels 3 bars all play the same type of dance/r&b music at full blast - 1 beneath hotel (so called fishermans/irish bar?)until 2am!

The Ship bar on the beach also belongs to hotel and played loud music all day specialising in a song on several occasions(with volume up to full blast) contaning F**k **F all the way through It. Great for all families on beach and around pool!
Apparntly this had been a ongoing problem and the manager was aware (just not doing anything it would seem)

The waiters spent more time chatting up the teenage girls than actually serving and clearing, then they only give any change to you in notes keeping odd coins for themselfs unless you reminded them! The food was OK but certainly not great.

The cleaners were great when tipped - we did have to ask for toilet rolls as we ran out,one occasion they did not give either of our two rooms any towels.
our rooms were always very well cleaned.

We upgraded to Sunny Beach Iberostar after two days it was Fantastic in every way! (then it was a real 4 star)

when the manager found we wanted to go he asked to see us and promised to reserve us 4 sunbeds daily as we told him the main reason was there was no where to relax! (could you imagine the grief the germans would give us)
We were told that there was something like 300 rooms and 100 sunbeds.-most of these we discovered were broken!
You had to be up at 7.30 am to reserve a sunbed,7am if you did'nt want to be sat in the shade in the afternoon - If the sunbed was unatended up to 9am the lifeguard removed the towel from the sunbed - this was amusing when their owners trundelled back. Oh, and the life guard seemed to then dissapeared until aroud 4pm.

The only entertainment was a guitarist every night playing to an almost empty bar.

We traveled with First Choice it has to be said Emma, the first choice rep at this hotel was great and acted on our requests immediatly, getting us out of there!

Do yorself a favour and go to the Ibrostar.

I recently returned from holiday in Bulgaria and was a bit apprehensive after reading reports about the resort and hotels.

Hotel Chaika Beach was a beautiful hotel in a great location and the cleanliness was excellent. The staff was very good and helpful and the food is not as bad as people make it out, I myself am a fussy person and thought it was reasonable with a good selection of food.

There was no entertainment in the hotel during our stay but we were lead to believe that entertainment was due to start in the high season; there is plenty of entertainment nearby.

I will defiantly be returning to this hotel in the near future.

This is my second visit to this hotel and I think that they have improved on it.

The food was a vast improvement compared to last year, where there was something for even my fussy wife.
The roast beef on sundays was as good as you can get.
The downside to the restaurant was they need to get a new complete set of crockery (loads of plates were chipped).
Bearing in mind the different nationalaties that they cater for, there was something on offer for everyone.

The hotel was clean and the staff pleasant.

The man at the pool is still collecting towells at 9am from people who have decided to try and book sunbeds. Its very funny to watch returning people find that their towells have gone.

If you need a late checkout, like we did, the hotel charges 10 lev an hour.

As for entertainment, well I didnt expect any cause it was never advertised, so it wasnt a letdown for me, theres plenty to do outside the hotel.

5 days prior to departure we were notified that due to construction around the Victoria Palance Hotel we were being changed to Chaika Beach. We were not happy for lots of reasons, one being VP had Beauty Spa etc. We were assured (fax from hotel) that this was also in Chaika. We found builders were actually working in the Chaika - no facilities as requested - the manager offered me the Masseur on the beach or he would send him to my room!!

The hotel was very cold even tho the weather was good. We had to wear jackets in the diningroom.

Staff were very pleasant.

We saw the rep and he got us transferred to the VP as originally paid for. The difference was unbelievable.
Plush, spacious comfortable rooms, better food, great spa, - the only blackspot on their copybook is that the staff seem unable to give change back on paying a bill. i.e. 2 x tea = 2.40, milk = .60 = 3lev, tender 20lev, due 17l change, and it doesn't come, unless you ask, which is very annoying - and puts ones back up. I like to give my tips myself and not have them taken. Also charging for milk in tea is petty. For all that things were very cheap - Pint of Beer = €0.75 in bars €2 in hotel, etc.

The scale of construction is killing the resort. There is no green area except in the hills.

In 4/5yrs it will have finished and might be great. (I previously went to Sunny Beach 25yrs ago.)

The Hotel was very clean and the room cleaners first class.

The biggest complaint I had about the hotel is there is very poor sound proofing, if somebody is in the next room talking a bit loud you hear it, when someone shuts a door down the landing you hear it, also the people in the room above [if they had there shoes on] you heard them as there was no carpet down, which if it was a 5 star hotel there would have been carpet down but there isn't.

You also hear the cleaners move beds in the rooms to make them. So if you expect quiet for a lay in don’t.

Would give this hotel a 3 star rating just.

Part of the hotel is an Irish bar, that didn’t have any Irish beer. [Then why call it an Irish bar]

The food, well I took one look and that was enough, it was all laid out already in hot bins and the eggs in the morning looked like you could do an oil change on your car and all over cooked. We were half board and didn’t eat there once, but it’s so cheap out I wasn’t bothered. We just used as some where to sleep but not again.

An excellent restaurant we went to is D Jannys, it is away from the sea front about half a mile, a full breakfast £1.30 = 3.5 lev open all year and the locals use it, which says it all.

We arrived at roughly at 8.30 in he evening went up to our rooms , our friend had rooms interconnecting, but were happy with them.

We got to our room, it was lovely, right on the front of the hotel, with superb views, overlooking the sea and promenade, the room wasn't bad either.
Went down next morning to breakfast, when you are used to just cereals its hard to eat what is put out everyday, was glad when I got home to have my cereals it was ok, evening meal was better, more to choose from , but definitely aimed at the Germans , more than us English.

I found the hotel staff friendly, they loved my daughters. When they went to get our room key and always made a fuss of them .

The one thing I was not happy about was, because we were there the last week of season, they started to do some refurbishments near our room one afternoon being without electric for about half an hour , didn't let it bother us though.

Ooh and what’s with the pool , freezing cold even when it was baking hot ,whys this ?
The only thing I can say that all hotels in Bulgaria should have is kids clubs, theres nothing for them to do.

Our first impression was excellent the reception area was lovely, until we got to our room the 5 star rating dropped to just to say 3 star. The brochure said we would have a mini bar in the room but it was just a fridge. The maid was excellent cleaned the room every day and clean towels every day.

We thought the food was very poor lukewarm which is a breeding ground for germs and very cramped and badly organized hot with no air conditioning.

The hotel staff did not speak very good English and seemed to cater more for the Germans.

The so called Irish bar turned out to be the seaman’s bar very expensive with rude staff.

If we ever decide to visit sunny beach again we will go 3 star in one of the new hotels.

We arrived on 31st of Aug 2004 at 2.45 am, we were told by staff that our room was not ready (booked 11th sept 2003) and that it would be 30 mins; we eventually got in our room at 5am.

We had a few drinks in the bar and there were loads of couple's coming in and receiving their rooms within 10 - 30 mins of arrival.

When we got to our room it looked ok at first, but after a good inspection the next day it clearly is not 5 stars. Cracked tiles in bathroom , dirt under the beds, stained furniture, TV never worked for a week (we had to personally grab the maintenance man and show him the problem, as we were sick of telling the rep and staff about it.) The fridge was disgusting inside, rust and mould, curtains never closed properly, the extractor fan in bathroom made a terrible noise (clearly it was broken.)

Also there was a mould on the door frame in the bathroom, stained bed linen (meant we picked the cleanest bed and both slept in a single bed.) The sofa was dropping to bits floors were dirty.

The resuarant was pretty clean apart from we found loads of chipped plates cups and dirty forks and knives.

The reception area is clearly the best feature of this hotel. Although the toilets in reception area were very small and very dirty (gents).

The pool area was very clean, but the main pool was very cold 1.7 m deep, no one used it and it was in the shade at 3.30 pm.

This is clearly not a 5 star hotel

The food was terrible, they re-used left overs from the previous night, food was luke warm. Chipped cups and plates, the tables in the restaurant were not cleaned very well. Highchairs for babies filthy.

Staff not very friendly - luke warm I would describe them.

The lifts were constantly breaking down.

I would never say that this was a 4* hotel.

The hotel food was mostly german and some english not much choice for thr kids though.

The location was beautiful we had a sea veiw and at night it was beautiful. The staff were grumpy alot didn't smile much and were kinder to the germans than the english.

Not really alot of entertaniment a irish bar/saliors pub was a bit deer and the people were not friendly, there was a dino bar next to the hotel it was good but not many people go in there.

When I visited Chakia Beach Hotel In Bulgaria My first Impressions Were very good, untill breakfast when I didnt eat any thing because it was very different to england. The beach is clean and the rooms are spacious the cleaners and other staff apperaed rather rude. One night I left My bag under the restaurant table, about 1 hour later I realised and went back to collect it but it was gone. We spoke to the restaurant managerbut she wasnt really interested, and it had just so happend that the persistent waitress that tried to get every penny out of us for drinks had gone home. We asked around the reception checked the bar and rooms for any mistakes but we still didnt find it. We hapened to be the last out of the restaurant that night so it must have been a cleaner or one of the restaurant staff. we left a couple of days later without my bag which had my phone in my moneyin and my jewellery.

The initial impression of this hotel was rather good, I liked the decor and it is well laid out. The room was comfortable enough although it lacked wardrobe/drawer space. Unfortunately the standard of cleaning of the room was very poor. The floor was given a quick run over with a mop but that seemed to be the only cleaning done, the bathroom was never touched by the maid. The bed linen was only changed once in two weeks and we fequently had to go to reception for clean towels and toilet rolls. The food was generally poor but some evenings one could find something edible, eating out was so cheap anyway that this wasn't a major problem for us. Some of the English translations of the menu were rather amusing. Some of the hotel staff were really friendly and helpful but others seemed as if they couldn't be bothered and didn't want to help. The hotel is right on the beach and is a good base for exploring the resort.

I read a lot of bad reports before I visited this hotel and i was a little nervous before i arrived.
However I would like to say this hotel was great first impressions are very stylish, the reception area is really unusual the room I was giving was spacy, clean, brightly furnished, unfortunately didn't have a great view, mostly the hotel car park.
The staff i found to be courteous and friendly some did not speak english but there was normaly 1 or 2 english speakers in attendance.
Food was better than i was led to be would be!!!!
definately try and go again!

We arrived at 11.30 at night and was given a sort of packed lunch/dinner, due to lateness of night I suppose. OK, we didnt like it or eat it but at least they made the effort to give us something.
I`ve read some bad reviews of this hotel, so I wasnt looking forward to it that much. In future I`ll keep an open mind because we really liked it, so much that we are going again next year.
One of the things that impressed me was that at 9am every morning, the hotel lifeguard (the tall guy with sunglasses on) went around every sunbed and took all the towells off that people had put on and gone off somewhere. He put them on his chair which is just by the pool. The looks on peoples faces when they came back at 11ish was great. The sign by the pool does say that you cant book sunbeds, in german and english.
Just one thing I dont know why the "Irish bar" is so called, there is nothing irish about it, and it is dearer than everywhere else.

Maybe we were just unlucky but we had problems from day 1. My 2 kids and i were put into a room with no bath (apparently these are single rooms) My son slipped while paddling through 3 inches of water in the bathroom ad smacked his head on the tiles. Our rep (Tracey was a star) got us moved to a far better room (still not 5 star).

We had one full linen change in the 2 weeks, went withouot clean towels for 4 days, twisted my ankle on an electric cable which snaked across the main dining area floor. beds werent' made properly, glasses & ashtrays left unwashed.

14 power cuts in 8 days was extreme - 4 were in the one day. The pool has no shallow end and even me, at 5'3'' couldn't stand up in it. Ball games were prohibited in the pools so kids couldn't play, only swim. We had to ask for loo roll and (having issued t us in the main reception area, we were told it would be delvered to our room. It turned up 4 hours later.

Bread and rolls at dinner time were hard (having been left over from breakfast) Flies were frequent visitor to the bread baskets. I could go on but I'm keeping the ful story for First Choice. If you want a really decent hotel that provides what you have paid for. Try the Alba or Neptun in Sunny beach, both are 4 star but totally ouclass the 5 star Chaika Beach. Sunny Beach itself is a fantastic place. Most people (except the Germans) are so friendly, espcially the shopkeepers.

Very clean hotel, maids always cleaning, in fact you nearly tripped over them there were so many! Reception staff were very smartly dressed and as helpful as they could be considering the language barrier. The Hotel is right opposite the beach and a short 5-10 minutes stroll from the centre along the promenade. The breakfast was buffett but you had to fight the germans to get anything, especially the one slow toaster. Food was not very warm especially if you went into the restuarant later than the start times (which the germans would queue up for, not usually in their nature). The evening meal was not much better, food was cold or had run out and you had to stand waiting till more arrived. Not much catering for childrens choices though. We ended up eating out most nights.

If you go prepared for the food then it is a lovely hotel.

Our only mistake was opting for 1/2 board. The breakfasts were fine, but the evening meals were a nightmare. Buffet style 'hot' food, definately not attuned to the British palate. I like to try exotic food, but this wasn't even that! Added to the rudeness of some of the other guests, who would stampeded their way across to the food, plus the fact drinks were extra and took ages to appear, we were not impressed. Fortunately we already had it in our minds that we were getting such a good deal that it wouldn't hurt to eat out some evenings. It was more evenings than planned, but never mind.

Apart from the food, we didn't have anymore problems. Our tour rep (Deni) was lovely, very friendly and efficient.
We went on several trips, including a Jeep Safari into the mountains, which was fantastic.

Our room was ground floor, which meant that we could hop over the wall to the pool! The lifeguard wasn't as efficient as someone else reported, though we did see a protest one morning when some towels had been removed!
The hotel bars were more expensive than other places along the sea front, but the beach bar was definately our favourite, as we spent hours propping up the bar drinking vodka cocktails!
The room was cleaned well, Bulgarian plumbing isn't quite up to ours, but we didn't have any problems.

We arrived at the hotel and the immediate thought was "WOW" it was gorgeous! There was myself, partner, 2 year old, parents and sister and her partner. The hotel was beautiful. Rooms were immaculate, we were really surprised. We went down for breakfast next morning and we started to have doubts. The food seemed to be German Orientated! the hotel was full of English families and couples and not many germans? Anyway evening meal and my GOD!!! it was horrendous. greasy, semi warm, soggy, oooohhh no, the thought makes me feel sick. We resulted in most evenings getting Chicken Kebabs on the beach front, although we did eat a bit of the salads (Feta, onions and cucumber) we very rarely ate at the hotel. hard boiled eggs for breakfast broken up and put on the semi fresh barms.

The hotel itself was lovely, staff could not speqak english which did not help when i had an accident in the pool, but our rep was quite good, even when the hotel tried to get me to sign a disclaimer on leaving because of the accident. I would recommend Sunny Beach and the princess hotel but never ever the Chaika beach. The food, staff and germans spoilt it!
