| said: We have stayed at Buggiba Complex on numerous occasions and because of this we asked speciffically to be booked there again. How we wish we had gone elsewhere. The hotel has really gone down hill. The food, although cooked well was very bland and some days we had to eat out (4 breakfasts and 3 evening meals out. We were very dissappointed. The maids kept the rooms very clean and the staff were very helpful although they had to put up with a lot of complaints. We were told that the hotel was to close, and had we known that we would have booked a different hotel.

| said: We have stayed here on several occasions but this time will be our last. I agree with the last few posters the hotel is tired. However it's been tired for a few years!
But now it's deteriorating quickly. The Pizza restaurant is now closed (used as a store room) although the same lunch time menu is available from the pool bar or in the main restaurant and still excellent. The cable TV has been ripped out so no English channels at all. I really missed the news and the kids missed Cartoon network. so there really is no entertainment whatsoever! The aircon in the rooms has never been great but it does nothing now. The rumours abound that it is going to close, and I think they are correct! The students were a pain but as they are out all day and evening the bar never had a queue. I would say it is still good value if you get it at a good price through alpha rooms or Travel republic etc but would advise to use it only in the off seasons.

| said: After reading reviews on another site, I was a bit worried about going. A lot of what has been said is very true. Italian students (ages 12-18 approx) took over the whole place.
You had to fight your way to the reception desk at times, there were hordes of them - no exaggeration. When they were in the pool, the took that over too and only when they were all out on an excursion, did the pool take on that family feeling - of children playing and enjoying themselves with their parents.
They did play football in the corridor in the early hours of the morning and the leaders looked about as young as the students! They of course were probably tucked up in bed. They also banged on all the doors in the corridor as they went along and pressed all the buttons on the lift, meaning that it went up and down and never seemed to stop at the floor you were on.
They were extremely noisy the whole time and some of the staff in the hotel were as annoyed as other guests. The room was adequate but definitely needed a freshen up, the back of the toilet door was warped and all the paint was peeling off.
The air conditioning wasn't that great and we didn't have a fan. We were able to sleep at night though. We found the food to be really good. There was always a good choice at dinner time although breakfast was always the same, you still had a good choice. We found the majority of the staff to be friendly and helpful.
My mother and my son were with my husband and I and on arriving, we found a light bulb to be out in both their rooms. We told reception, and they were fixed within a couple of hours.
On a down side, we asked for an early morning alarm call as we were going to Sicily, but it didn't happen. Would definitely go back to Malta, it's lovely but not the BHC.

| said: Very nice 3* hotel, good value, not 5*, if you want that go to the Hilton or Raddisson and pay their prices.
Food was good and plenty of it, could be a little more varied, good fish and pasta dishes. Rooms were typical 3* and cleaned to a reasonable standard.Hotel is about 6 mins walk to sea and harbour, plenty of bars and restraunts around but never too noisey.
Hotel staff were very pleasant and nothing too much trouble, best people around the Med by far.Been to Malta many times and this is as good a 3* as we've had, would go back again.

The indoor pool was a bit poor only went in there once was a bit dirty and run down but the outdoor pools were great.
The staff were very friendy. We got a bottle of maltese wine on arival and another as a complment for staying with them.
The hotel was took over by students half was through the holiday, they took over the pool and was a bit loud but bareable lol.
The entertainment was a bit poor, the people couldnt sing at all, one attempted mama mia but sounded horrible lol. but funny to watch.
The maid cleaned our room evry day with fresh towels ect.

A big plus for this hotel is 2 outdoor and a heated indoor swim pool.

| said: If you enjoy sleeping in public toilets, then this place is for you. I would not say this was a 3* hotel, infact I would have felt guilty leaving a dog here.
Unfortunately I booked this without reading reviews on it. I said to my wife that I will cancel, but she managed to talk me out of it (typical woman). I should have made her pay for the next hotel we was to move to (hahaha).
We got there at 5am in the morning to discover this place. We got 4 hours sleep, then went out looking for another hotel. After finding one, we went back to the hotel to check out. The desk staff said is it the weather that you are checking out so early, I said 'no, its the hotel'. At this they took my key and did not even offer me another room or anything.
Please dont judge Malta by this review, as it is a gorgeous island with lovely people.
Please read reviews on any hotel before going, save yourself money.

We were allocated rooms on the fourth floor which were clean had air condtioning a hairdryer and a fan all of which worked. The rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels supplied and the cleaning staff were very polite.
We couldnt fault the meals at all there was a Buffet Style Restaurant and you could eat as much as you wanted. Our daughter didnt like some of the the meals in the main restaurant so we were able to take her to the other restaurant which served pizzas, chicken nuggets, burgers etc which went down well with all the children in our party.

| said: Upon arrival we were greeted by pleasant reception staff.
(No funny smells, as reported by others in the reception area).
Our room was on the 4th floor looking over the large pool, this was very nice as we have never had a pool view before.
The air con was working ok and there was also a wall mounted fan for extra comfort. The beds were comfortable and the room was tastefully decorated. There was even a hair dryer.
The room was made up every day (very clean) and towels were changed as required.
The food at the main restaurant was great, a good selection and different every night. The breakfasts were great too, full English to Continental. There was also a great choice of wine, beer, soft drinks available with the evening meal.
There is also a smaller restaurant by the 2 small pools, here you will find a fantastic menu that includes pizza's. A big hit with the kids and grown up's too.
The evening entertainment was pretty good. A real must see is "Martin Elvis" (on Wednesdays) and "The Young Talent Team" (on Fridays).
There is a pool side Bar and also by reception there is "Jacks Bar" both very good with a wide selection for All Inclusive guests.
In reception there are computers for Internet access.
The Hotel was very clean. Behind the toilet door's were lists of when they were cleaned last and inspected.
The Hotel is about a five minute walk to the sea and about a five minute walk to the bus station, from here you can travel around the whole Island for just a few Cents.
In general this is a good Hotel which is worthy of its 3 star rating.
We had an enjoyable 2 weeks All Inclusive stay here and would return for another holiday.

Our room was on the seventh floor with air conditioning and a fan! The room was also tidy and cleaners came every/every two days. The pools where also very clean and fun to play in exept for the inside one but the two outside ones where very nice!
The reception was beutiful aswell where there was computer and internet acsess and the mini marts where cheap and very cheerful.
The only bad thing I have to say about our accomodation was the balcony it was quite loose and looked like it was going to fall but it was fine as long as you didnt leen on it.

Treated with contempt by reception staff.Given two filthy self catering rooms 4 hours after we arrived in spite of telling them my son was disabled. Complained and were given 2 rooms the next day at 2.30pm no apology from any staff.
Noisy students running around all night till 4.30 in the morning banging doors and shouting no one did anything about it. The place is not fit to be three star. The pool area was always full in spite of a notice saying do not reserve the loungers.
The reception staff were the rudest people I have ever met but most other staff were very nice especially the pool guy Joe.We would never stay there again or advise anyone else to. There was always someone complaining at reception,.
I would still return to Malta but no to the Bugibba Holiday Complex!!!!!

| said: Oh dear. Where do I begin. This is the worst place I have ever stayed in. And I have been around.
Absolutely dreadful - filthy run down all round.
Room we were allocated was absolutely filthy and flea ridden - the cot for my 1 year old son was a death trap and the we moved rooms immediately - new one not much better but at least it didn't have a filthy carpet (yes carpet) to contend with !
The lifts seemed like a death trap too so I avoided them.
To cap the holiday off (we all got sickness and t'other end troubles) I watched in horror as the pool man pressure washed all the dirt from the patio deck straight into the pool.
I also found Malta to be very dirty, unfriendly and would never travel there again.

On entering we found both were clean but basic. Rooms were cleaned daily and towels changed everyday thanks to Rita. Food was quite good on the whole good selection for breakfast and dinner.
Location was not good as it was in the residential area but you saw how the locals live. Staff we found were pleasant considering staff shortages and the rising heat.
Entertainment we didn't use as we were out everyday.

| said: Hotel is in dire need of an upgrade.
Our room was very basic & bathroom had quite a few faults. We did request a move & were put in one of their "superior rooms" which was the standard of room that I would have expected in the first instance.
Incidently these rooms are avail at a supplement. However I would expect this standard as an entitlement rather than having to pay for the privelege! Food was actually very good. Good choice for Breakfast and dinner always consisted of 1 fish dish and 2 meat dishes. Desserts were lovely!
Staff were quite arrogant especially pool guy!! Entertainment rubbish. Thie hotel is extremely basic and we felt that the brochure desription should reflect this and that prices charged for this hotel should also reflect exactly what you get.
Poor value for money overall.

| said: I too was wary of this place after such comments!!
We arrived with folk quite a bit older than us, which worried the kids a bit!
The hotel was very clean, rooms attended to every day, without fail, even sunday, towels changed each day too.
The staff were excellent, maintenance crew around all day long really so if any problems were needing sorting, they got done straight away, reception staff were very nice too!
The food was typical of a holiday abroad, no Warburtons bread and Kelloggs here! Just as to be expected really, European food, but we had no problems with it at all over the 2 weeks. Friends of ours stayed half board and they said food was fabulous, chips only served once during the 2 weeks! And different meat every day, very well cooked and presented.
The entertainment was 'interesting'! It featured mainly keyboard players accompanied by one of a few different singers, even a Danny DeVito look alike, who was really like him and quite good!
I think with it being May it was still geared up towards more mature folk and not really families, although they were building an outdoor stage for the summer programme, I believe, which should improve things, but that said, if like us you like to laze around the pool all day, we had no problems with going for a walk to find somewhere a bit more lively!
The hotel did liven up the second week and there were a few more kids around.
Overall, lovely hotel, nice food, fabulous friendly staff, excellent reps and beautiful weather!

The room was clean, smart, and well equipped (full size fridge, cooker, toaster kettle etc), with a lovely view over the trees and pool.
The hotel is very well situated, not at all remote, but not in a rowdy area either and is handy for shops, bars, restaurants, buses and seafront.
We enjoyed a very good complimentary breakfast (cereals, full English, toast, rolls, cheese, salami, juice, tea & coffee)
The room was cleaned daily and there seemed to be plenty of staff keeping the hotel public areas spotless.
Didn't really use hotel entertainment as we were out sightseeing etc

When we arrived we were welcomed with a smile and given a complimentary breakfast for the following morning which we went to and enjoyed.
The male staff were friendlier than the female but if there was someone younger (not necessarily better looking may I add) to be served then you were in for a bit of a wait.
The towels were changed daily if they needed to be or not and the hotel was clean.
It was very relaxing as it was out of the way of all the noise it just goes to show that you should not believe everything that you read!

The staff were always willing to help and had ready smiles, even at 1 am when two tiddly middle age ladies arrive back!!
The entertainment in Jacks bar catered for all tastes with our favourite being DannyJ Devito. He sang a good range of songs and added amusing jokes with it. Unfortunately we never did manage to see the first half of his act!
We would happily go back to the BHC.

| said: After reading the reviews on this hotel I became very worried about the trip due to negative comments; however on my arrival I was pleasantly surprised.
The hotel looked clean and the check-in took very little time at all. The room I had was more than adequate with plenty of furniture, it also included satellite TV with basic channels (more could be purchased for a small fee) The restaurant was well presented with a different menu each day, the food was nice and I could order a separate Childs meal if I wished in the mornings.
Breakfast was also of a high standard. The maids who cleaned the rooms were very thorough and when I had needed fault seen to it was seen to immediately. The hotel was located in a busy area with plenty of shops and restaurants and within a short walking distance to the beach and more shops.
The entertainment was adequate; it seemed to be aimed at the older age group, the most enjoyable act being Danny de vito, who also worked as a waiter at the hotel. The only downfall was that other than the swimming pools and the TV room there was nothing else available for children. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel and this country, everyone was friendly and the staff are a credit to the hotel.
I would definitely go back to Malta and if the hotel catered more for children then I would definitely use them again; however at this time of year I feel it is best suited to the older age range.

| said: After an excellent relationship and flight with First Choice we arived at 1am to the dingiest looking hotel in Malta I have ever stayed in during over twenty years of visiting the islands on and off.
One receptionist to greet about ten families with only one pen to fill in registration cards. We were given two rooms at opposite ends of the hotel but at least they were on the same floor (level 6). The Green Mile sprang to mind.
I had to return to reception to ask where our cot was, the last thing you need with five tired children wanting to get to their beds. It did arrive fairly quickly.
The rooms were dank, dark affairs with three beds crammed into one room, two and the cot in another. My exhausted wife was in tears at the dirty condition of the rooms, rust stained bath, ant infestation amongst other irritations.
We perked up next morning with a complimentary breakfast and then visited our locale which was quite near to shops, bars, restaurants and bus station.
During our stay the main lift broke down and took nearly a week to repair. The daily trek up and down stairs with an infant, pushchair and children under ten was bad enough for us but some of the older residents were in obvious distress. On one occasion when the lifts were actually working they were unavailable as staff were "moving chairs" and were quite rude to guests, ourselves included, when it was politely suggested that the chairs be moved at a quieter time of day and not at breakfast.
One of our children unfortunately stained bedsheets and a bedspread with ink for which we were charged a cleaning fee which we happily paid. From that day to the end of our holiday one of the rooms had all the bedspreads removed and not returned and the beds only had their linen sheets on them.
The only nod to children in the complex was the small swimming pool. There was nothing else for them to do. Fortunately we knew Malta well enough to keep them entertained.
Being pestered by time share salesmen was also annoying. My recommendation to prospective visitors to Malta is to look around. There are far more attractive hotels on the islands that do not look as though they haven't been touched since the day they were built. The Maltese people as a rule are friendly, warm people but none of them seemed to be working at the BHC to which we shall never return.

| said: We arrived at the Bugibba Holiday complex, about 40 minutes after landing. First external impressions of the hotel was that the surrounding area looked very scruffy, and cramped. It seemed to be placed right in the middle of a residential area. The reception area of the hotel was nice and tidy, noticed 3 Internet access pc’s inside.
Signed in, the staff seemed friendly, but to be honest I did find it difficult to understand the young lad who served us. Our room was not quite ready so our luggage was placed in a room for the extra hour they needed. Used that time to check out the bar opposite “Munchies”. I discovered the excellent price of the local lager “Cisk” only 40c = 70p per pint.
Anyway Picked up the key, and followed the instructions to the lift, We were on level 6 out of 7, so thought we may have good views. Reached our room 635, which was classed as a self catering studio. Even though our holiday was a last minute deal, our room was excellent. With Cooker, fridge, iron, toaster, colour TV with satellite, which included Sky News, and many other English channels. One double bed, one sofa bed, various good quality wooden furniture, bath and shower. Also we had a balcony with an excellent view overlooking the larger of the two outside Pools, and being on the 6th floor, a nice view above the rooftops to the hills in the distance. Any poor people on lower levels probably could only see in to the bedrooms of the flats opposite!. Our room was perfect, and obviously was one of there superior rooms. Chatting with other guests, who were not so lucky, lets us to believe it was a good room to have. They were complaining about rusty bathroom fixtures, dirty rooms and walls and lack of clean sheets and towels. We simply followed the instructions on the wall, if we needed fresh towels, etc, just to leave them on the floor and we would get them.
Only complaint about the room that the overflow on the air-conditioning was dripping through the roof and collecting into a plastic bowl, The cleaner who was near by, rang reception on our behalf and within 5 minutes it was fixed and cleaned.
The buffet evening meal, was high quality, usually the choice of 3 main meals (Meat, chicken and fish) with plenty of salads and vegetables available. Also a good range of sweets and ice-cream. Bit of advice, Try to get to the 7.00 or 8.00 sitting, as if you arrive halfway through the hour, some of the food is cold and “sold out”. Service was excellent and very helpful. If you’re a vegetarian, a meal can be ordered at Breakfast for that nights meal. Breakfast, was also good, help your self to as much as you want, serials, fruit juices, toast, bacon, egg, sausages, beans, coffee and tea , etc.
We only used the main pool as the other was more for the kids. The inside pool was still closed, but why would you want to be inside when the sun is out. The pool was clean, maybe a bit on the cold side, but nice and refreshing. Towels were used to “reserve” some of the beds, but you could usually find some where to sit at most times of the day. There was a bar pool side and some where to get lunch..
We caught the entertainment at the hotel on a couple of occasions, as other have said the act who was worth watching is Danny De-vito who actually works in the restaurant in the morning. Very Funny guy!!!
The hotel did try to sell us time share for the new Hotel they are opening up next year, Took up 40 minutes of our time with a nice aussie called Tony, Got a free bottle of wine out of it. Don’t get excited if you win a free holiday and its not free you have to send of £89.00 registration and you may get a week some where in the next 18 months… Take the wine, drink it and don’t sign anything unless you are looking for a time share..
Recommendations:
1. Get a safety deposit box 75 cents per day, approx £1.00 as the rooms do not self lock when you close the door.
2. Rooms, try and getting an upgraded room. And avoid the lower levels.
3. You must go to Mdina (The silent City) , Valletta and if your under 35 St Julian’s at night.
4. Go for meals on the hour.
Overall Had a great Holiday, no major problems with the hotel Staff and cleaners always helpful and friendly. Only signs of dirt are if you look to hard. (Don’t look under the bed!)

| said: Staying here at the minute. When you walk into the reception area it looks nice and you think the rooms will be the same.
Our appartment was old the walls were dirty the air conditioning unit had dust all over it we had to take a brush to it to clean it.
Water started to pour out of the celling the bathroom was bogging, the bath was black and the paint was off the walls.
We had enough so we complained to the management. They did move us to a two bedroomed appartment which was completley different nicer in fact!!!
If you have booked and come make sure they put you in the left hand side of the reception area as these rooms seem better than the right hand side. We stayed in room 803 which was the bad room. All the management need to do is spend money and do the place up and it would be great.
I am sure it must of been nice when it opened in 1989 but I think it has been left since then. They are painting some areas of the complex at the minute but these are public areas where you can see.
One last thing I think that it is stupid people booking sun beds with their towels when it does state in the brochure that you can't do that, no one in the complex up holds this rule!!!! Plus the indoor swimming pool is closed and it does state in the brochure that it opens in September!!!!
All the best if you come and do complain if you are not staisfied with your room even tell your rep!!!

| said: Although we love malta, the BHC has got to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, had to move rooms as there was no balcony, you need to be up at the crack of dawn to get a sunlounger.
People were putting 6 towels out at a time then they would go off to the beach all day, there wasn,t even anywhere to sun bathe if you couldn't get a bed, it was very cramped and I wouldn't rate it any more than 1*.
I must admit though they were always cleaning. But dont let that put you off going to malta as the beaches are well worth a visit,we are going back this summer.

| said: We have just come back from B.H.C and I have to say it was the worst place I have ever stayed in my life, it is a disgusting dump.
When we arrived our rooms were not ready for three hours and we had been travelling since 3.00am in the morning. On first impressions the hotel did not seem to bad, the reception was ok and I thought it would be alright.
Once we finally got into our room I nearly cried, it was the most basic, disgusting room I have ever seen. The bathroom was dirty and grotty and the plug and taps were red with rust. Our friends room was even more basic and was very dated. The sheets were dirty and our pillows were covered in black dirt. The mattress was worn out and looked like it was 15 years old. I woke in the morning to find a massive puddle of water leeking in to our room by the kitchen and our toilet would not flush at all.
The rest of the place was not much better, it had a really cheap and tacky feel to it. Probably some people with young children would have found it acceptable but we certainly did not. At 8.00am people running out to put their towels on sun beds and by 8.30am there was none left, but no one by the pool!!! It just seemed stupid and very selfish to me.
After a few hours we complained to our Thomson rep who refused to move us and offered us alternative rooms, at this point we discovered that we had been upgraded to what they called a superior room, well if we had not have been so upset we would have laughed as there was nothing at all superior about our room.
After the rep had a look around he agreed to move us straight away with no extra charge and agreed that the accommodition at this hotel is way below standard.
We were moved to Sunseeker complex up the road which is beautiful and the staff are so friendly I highly recommend it to anyone.
Malta it's self is nice, the people (accept at the Bugiba Hoilday complex) are very nice and the food and wine is great. we went on the catamaran cruise and it was fantastic.
Malta depends are tourism for it's economy but it needs to clean it's self up and places like the B.H.C will put people off returning to a lovely island.

| said: We stayed in the Buggiba Holiday Complex, when we arrived immediately asked for a higher floor as we were at pool level and thought it would be too noisy. What a mistake, the room was very basic. There was an air conditioning unit in the room but unfortunately did not work, only a fan on the wall to keep us cool. Not a lot of good when it is 40 degrees!
Decided on the first day to visit the pool area. No sunbeds left, plenty not being used only by towels. Like that every day we went there.
Complex was very basic and looked like it was about to fall down with cracks appearing in the brickwork.
Plus side about the complex were the friendly and helpful staff.
Prices around the pool very quite expensive.
Only went down for breakfast once. There seemed to be quite a choice of food on offer. We prefer to eat out and the reason we went half board was because it was cheaper that self-catering.
Location was very good though, very near all the amenities.
We cannot believe people would actually visit this complex for a second time as we know we shall not be returning.

| said: We stayed in the Bugibba Holiday Complex on a self catering basis and despite some of the comments we could not fault it. The corridors leaing to the rooms are a bit dark and could do with a bit of a paint job I am sure it is all down to room allocation and we were extremely lucky with our apartment. When we walked in the apartment was the same lay out as a Travel Inn and the furnishings were very similar but with the addition of a kitchenette. We had a full cooker(oven/grill and 4 plate hob), a fridge, toaster and we ordered a starter food pack which included everything we needed for the first couple of days. The bathroom was very clean and was cleaned thorougly every day as was the room. The cleners were very friendly and if we wanted a lie in- they came back later.
We had an air conditioning unit and a wall fan which was great as it was very stuffy at night- the only problem was that they were very noisy but after a couple of drinks we did not notice.
Our apartment overlooked the main pool and if we sat in the corner of our balcony we could see the entertainment.
The pool was lovely - warm and clean- the only complaint being that you had to be out of bed at 8am to reserve a sun bed and then some of them lay empty until 11am at least. There was a notice from the hotel advising guests that they should not reserve sun beds but no one(including myself) took any notice. I decided after a couple of days if you can't beat them join them.
The entertainment was not brilliant - I think there could be a little bit of work on that but Danny J De Vito is well worth watching. He was very funny and entertaining and during the day he came round the pool to chat to the guests.(He looks like Danny De Vito)
We did not eat in the dining room as part of the holiday for us is to eat out but we had a take away pizza from the hotel pizzeria and it was lovely.
This is the first time we have tailor made our own holiday and it definitely works. Our apartment was very good and the hotel organised the pick up from the airport and there were no problems. The driver was waiting for us even though our flight was 5 hours late.
The drive was a bit hairy as they undertake, overtake tailgate and the first one to sound their horn at the junction goes through. Quite an experience.
We enjoyed our holiday and the only reason we would not go back is that there are so many places to visit we never go back to the same place.

| said: The self catering appartments were shabby, and in need of refurbishment. The bins were emptied each day but I know there was no cleaning done because I purposely left something to be swept up which was still there the day we left. The Toilet needed bleaching and had I not cleaned the bathroom myself it would have remained the same. Our bed linen remained unchanged during the whole of our stay, and on one day during our stay we were without towels from 9.30am to 6.30 at night.
There was an invitation in reception to upgrade to a better room ( at extra cost) these were obviously the rooms shown in the thos.cook brochure, and on the website, but why should we be expected to pay extra for what we beleived we were getting in the first place. Also we were amazed to find the Thos.Cook rep trying to get us interested in Time Share of the new hotel at Golden Bay.
We did find Malta interesting and the people very nice, but should we ever return, it will not be to the Buggiba Complex.

| said: After spending two weeks at the BHC, I in all honesty do not understand why people continue to return to it year after year!! The only conclusion that I can come to is that they have nothing else to compare it with, it is a DUMP....
Also, how can they justify having creepy time-share men present in the Hotel harassing passers by in the reception??
Our room on arrival was a hellhole, water pouring from the kitchen ceiling etc.. When we complained about it the maintenance man was sent up quickish, but boy does he know how to do a half-job!! He stuffed one of our towels up into the ceiling to soak up the water, not stop it. This resulted with the ceiling collapsing with the weight of the soaked towel..
It was time to blow a fuse, and after alot of shouting and threats of sueing, eventually we got our room changed to one of those "UPGRADED" rooms, but it took us three days to achieve this..
The food was grand, nothing special, and the staff were just alright!! Danny De Vito, was the most annoying "THING" I have ever encountered, and at times made me feel physically sick...YUK!!! If that what constitutes entertainment at the BHC then go to bed!!!
The way I look at it, you work all year long, your entitled to your two weeks out, do not waste your hard earned cash or sweet time at the BHC. I saw plenty of lovely Hotels in Malta, and Malta itself is a delight, but I'm afraid I wont return again, and this is due to my experience at the BHC.. Everything about it is substandard, I have stayed in grotty Hostels in Amsterdam that were no worse than this Hotel.. Take your money and spend it wisely, somewhere else......

| said: The Hotel itself appeared clean, but really it is just grubby and old. It almost had the feeling of the war to it, dark winding corridors in a horrible colour of beige. There was carpet on the corridor floor leading to our apartment which was thread bear and dirty. The plaster was coming off walls in particular the indoor swimming pool - the upstairs part of the indoor pool was falling down and was covered by a brown sheet, it looked bad. We only ate breakfast one day and it was quite good. Before going on this holiday we were a bit scared of what to expect and I guess 75% of what we read prior to arriving was true. The Hotel staff was friendly yet seemed perplexed because it seemed every time we reached reception somebody was complaining about their room. For the seven days we were in this complex we had nothing to sit on but a dirty table and four uncomfortable dining chairs. The apartment was large and clean but very grubby and the living area was just a space with no furniture. We had no seatee to sit on and no air conditioning as stated by our Travel Company. Air conditioning is essential because it is so warm. (one of the reasons I booked this complex). The location was good just a short walk to a very nice Bugibba square which nice eating places. If you like clean, basic, bright accomodation don't stay here.

The food was superb wherever we decided to eat in the complex and nothing was ever too much trouble for the brilliant staff. The evening entertainment was very good with something for everyones taste. All in all, a superb holiday and already counting the days down to next years hols! A 3 star hotel with 5 star staff!!

| said: We had a very pleasant stay at BHC. We had a very spacious room overlooking the pool which accommodated a king size bed and a single bed without being cramped, fully equipped kitchenette and bathroom. The funishings were comparable with any other 3* hotel we have stayed in on the Med. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. We were given a complimentary breakfast on our first day to encourage us to pay half board supplements. We declined as we did not want to be tied to meal times although the breakfast was substantial and the waiter told us we could replenish our plates as often as we wished.
The entertainment was OK - the Danny J DeVito act being the best. I think I also saw him in attendance in the restaurant !!
The location was fine being in a good position for the promenade and the shops without being too noisy.
The bus terminal was just up the road - a must for exploring the island. A good holiday all in all.

The hotel food was very nice with a cavery style buffet. You could have hot or cold food and had a choice where you wanted to eat. For example in the restraunt or in the pizzeria. The staff were really nice and very friendly and the atmosphere was great. I cant wait to save up some money i would defenetly go again. I really enjoyed the entertaiment. Especially the danny divito entertainer. He was so funny and got everybody involved in his act. The buggiba holiday complex is situated in a really good area as once the entertaiment finishes usually around 11.30pm if your still in the party mood there are lots of kareoke bars and nightclubs in the area which are really close (walking distance) I am defenetly visiting buggiba holiday complex again

| said: If you want a good holiday, by all means, visit Malta (Buggiba) - it is probably the best holiday location that I have visited for many reasons - weather, people (very friendly), scenery, shops, entertainment etc....
but dont stay at this hotel - its the worst hotel that I have stayed at anywhere in the world - the reception staff are diabolical, although the maids were very nice.
every day there were a few people complaining about rooms - mostly because they were too small or filthy (or both) and in one case a couple's furniture had been completely removed when they were out to lunch.
the hotel is very near to restaurants, cafe's, a brilliant pub about 10 feet away that sells pints of beer at 0.80gbp which is handy. it is such a shame that the staff and rooms let it down so much.
otherwise, the location, and Malta itself is a beautiful place and is highly recommended.
our friends stayed at a hotel called Topaz which was near and much better than this hotel, so i recommend that you enjoy Malta there, and do not spoil your stay by staying at the Buggiba Complex.
If Malta itself was not such a nice place, then this review would have been even more damning.

After complaining we were giving a fan we had to wear ear plugs to get to sleep as the fan made such a noise. The hotel was located close to the shops bars etc.
The bar staff cleaners and maintenence men were very nice and friendly We thought the men on reception were polite and helpfull but the women on reception were not as helpfull and a bit snotty.
We didnt bother with the entertainment as we were out all the time in the evenings so can't coment on that. we have stayed before with children and found the food good for them there was always something they would eat which makes a change!

| said: i would recommend this hotel to couples and family's alike, we did not take our children on this holiday but will take them next year. after reading previous reviews about this hotel i was wondering what we had let ourselves in for however i can say we were pleased on the whole. the hotel is a bit run down but this is only in the decor, the hotel is clean and there is maid service every day. the pool area is great for kids and you do not have to pay for the sunbeds or umbrella's, i would recommend getting out early with towels as these get reserved quite quickly and are not always in the sun.
The hotel is ideally situated within easy access to sea front, shops, bars, and the local bus terminal (which i would recommend anyone try)there is also a number of restaurants nearby in particular the bar/exellent restaurant of PaLeon which is approx 100yrd left as you come out of the hotel.
We did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food but to eat out was cheap enough.
staff wery very friendly, tip for exchanging money there is a car hire place approx 100yrds left as you come out of hotel this has beter rates then hotel/rep and doesn't charge commision.

| said: We have one child of 4 and we spent a week in the Bugibba Holiday complex. All I can say is never again. It was the holiday from hell, while the hotel was 3 star standard you get what you pay for or in this case less.
Our room as so small we had three single beds crammed into a room. The room was dirty, dusty, smelled horrific, all of us were sick for the week, we all are itchy three days after leaving the place, didn't sleep all week, the beds have seen better days, the linen was dirty, there was rubbish everywhere, the indoor pool facilities were disgusting and dirty, the food was at best tasteless, reception staff treated you with contempt if you asked them to do anything. We were promised a lot of things by the Budget but none of them materialised.
Malta is a very poor country that depends on tourism, well it's not doing a good job. While we were there, there were four murders in the area, construction site accidents in tourist areas, if it wasn't for the MacDonalds pay area we would have booked a flight home after three days.

Some of the comments about the decoration is true , however this hotel must be busiest on the island, I dont think the staff damage the hotel so i think i know who does.
This will be the 14 visit to this hotel by my wife and I , Last year we had cause for complaint about our room it was in the annex which we asked not to be put in. The next day we were moved to an up graded room ,Trevor the Manager could not have been nicer, result another good holiday at bhc and another satisfied customer.

Had a fantastic time.
Prior to the holiday, Trevor the manager of the hotel got in contact with me via this forum and made certain assurances and promises about my stay. I will not go into the details of the promises, only to say that he kept to his word and carried out everything he promised he would. Thankyou for that.
The hotel we found was very clean and presentable. The staff were always very polite and keen to assist with any queries.
The room we had was a large 2 roomed apartment, 1 bedroom and a living room with kitchen aswell as 2 balconies. No problems with the apartment, it was very clean.
We arrived too late for dinner, so the staff arranged for us to eat free in the pizzeria. The food in the restaurant was good with plenty of variation.
The only thing that niggled us was the price of the phonecalls back to home. It was quite expensive, although this may be down to the telephone operators rates and not the hotels, I dont know about that.
The maid service was also very good.
All in all it was an excellent holiday and the staff were second to none. Thankyou everyone at the hotel.

I was a hotel worker for any years and always took great pride in my work. If I owned or worked at this place I would be ashamed to tell anyone!
I think an average of 9 out of 10 of the above reports hadn't a good word to say about the place.

| said: This place is a horror story.
We were a party of 4 adult ladies, Grandma, her two daughters and one granddaughter, so we booked two twins. Adjoining each other. But we didn’t get them, we were on the same level as reception, we had to go up three steps to the corridor. My sister and daughter were in one of the first 6 rooms, but Mum and I (the oldest two) were sent miles away to the end of the corridor and around the corner, right next to the staff linen room. So that meant we were woken up at dawn by cackling chambermaids. As we arrived late at night we took little notice and fell into our beds.
I was first up in the morning and was met by the biggest cockroach I had ever seen, it was sitting on top of the unit around the washbasin, I was just wondering what I could have hit it with when it flicked up somehow and launched itself towards me, (apparently they fly, I didn’t know that at the time) I had stood nearly a yard away from it, it missed me, landed on the floor and made for the gap under the bedroom door to the corridor. I grabbed a shoe and opened the door quickly to bash it one. Unfortunately I only injured it and it ran off sideways like a crab and hid under a pile of cot mattresses and parts. By this time the maids had heard me scream and were all coming out of the linen room and I pointed it out to them and asked if they would remove it. Without any lies, it must have been 4 inches long!! That meant that there were many many more.
Above the bathroom and entrance to the bedrooms and also in the corridor, the ceilings are slatted, you can see all the mains pipes running overhead through them. That is the design fault as cockroaches run along pipes from room to room. No amount of poison will ever rid the BHC of cockroaches. The best thing they can do is to pull it down and to start again.
We were annoyed at the deception of the reps in taking us to see the plans of the proposed new hotel, is it timeshares I asked, we were told no. We were so angry to have to wait outside a building for over 1 hour to wait for the car to pick us up again. Our mum was feeling really ill after the grueling session of hard sell that we had been put through. Our reward? A bottle of vinegar which they called wine. We gave it to the chambermaids. Who incidentally said they were poorly paid.
After complaining bitterly about our room, it was also at the edge of a building sight and the hammering drove us mad. We were transferred to the room next to my sister, and lo and behold, it had an adjoining door so that we could all be together, which is what we asked for in the first place.
I can’t write any more. Please take note of all the negative comments from everyone, they are all true, the pool, the sheets and towels, the floors, the ashtrays, the PC's which were always out of order and the general shabbiness of the complex .
Avoid it at all costs!!!!!! All 4 of us ended up with diarrhea.

My friend and I went to Malta on holiday, where I have been on several occasions and have never had any complaints.
However, this time, we were unlucky enough to book via a package to the Bugibba Holiday Complex apartments. We were given an apartment key and trotted off to find it. Imagine our horror to find the place was not fit for pigs to live in.
The walls were filthy and chunks had fallen off; the ceilings were falling apart; the bathroom was ingrained with layers of dirt and the walls disintegrating with huge black patches showing through; the mirror was black where the silvering had worn off. The floors through the whole apartment had ingrained dirt and were filthy.
The furniture was broken with some parts missing and the door frames had chunks missing. The kitchen was beyond description.
We complained and were given 2 sets of keys to 2 other apartments to check out. These were just as bad and one of them had huge puddles in the kitchen. Once again we complained and after waiting and some phone calls on the part of reception, we were offered another apartment which , this time was livable.
However, on the first day the toilet seat fell off. We reported it but it was never fixed. Also on our last day we felt sick as in bending down to pick up a towel I noticed the under rim of the toilet has thick ingrained black stuff around it. YUK…
We were not expecting luxury but felt we deserved cleanliness. We spoke to 2 reps who were there to show pictures of a new hotel being built by the owners which will be completed in 2005. On hearing about the state of the current apartments they advised us that the Bugibba complex would not be touched until the new hotel had been completed. By that time, the Bugibba complex would have to be condemned.
We took many photos of the apartments to send to relevant authorities. What we could not understand is how people put up with these conditions.
We shall probably be going back to Malta again in the future but shall be very very careful where we go.
We do not recommend the Bugibba Holiday Complex to anybody.

| said: The reception, restaurants, and bar areas were all very modern, clean, tidy and presentable. The terraced pool area with its two good sized pools (and splash pool) were well laid out and were always kept to a good standard of cleanliness. Additionally, having a separate kiddies pool is excellent, and on many occasions we had to tempt our daughter away from the pool only with the promise of a happy meal from the sea front. The entertainment was also excellent, especially Ifan (or Ivan), who was brilliant with the kids.
On a negative note, the room we had was very basic and gave the impression that it had not been decorated since its original furnish some ten years ago. The air conditioning made a great noise but that was the sum total of its usefulness. In fact we had no electricity at all in our room for a whole day whilst the AC was being "repaired". Despite breakfast being "up to 10:30", the restaurant was cleared of all food, cereals, tea and coffee around us at only 10:10.
I don't want to end on the above negative points, as all in all we were impressed with the BHC. So much so, that we are not only recommending it to our friends but we are also planning to stay there next summer.

| said: I have stayed at the Buggiba Holiday Complex 3 different times over a 9 year period and I am just trying to work out what is going on. It takes me 26 hours to get to Malta from where I live and I have never found anything but total care, service and helpful staff when I have stayed there.
I guess I can't ignore so many negative comments, but the owners are a family-honestly-and I have asked them many times to assist me with unusual requests, which they have always done with the greatest of warmth.
The last time I was with a former partner and we had views over St Pauls Bay. Yes their neighbours were building right next door, but we were out most of the time (as you do when you are on holidays, especially if you spend 26 hours getting there).
As for the location - ARE YOU KIDDING!! It's not 5 minutes from the town centre, it is in the town centre! Thats the beauty of it - if you don't like that it might not be your cuppa. It's not 5 minutes from the sea - it's 5 seconds!! And if you go and look the same veggie man will still be there in the same place or close to (I have photos to prove it over 9 years).
Al the times I have been there (and I stay there every time) the place is clean as a whistle, with rooms cleaned each day etc. You basically walk in with a toothbrush.
Of course I would stay there again. I love it there! The desk staff will advise me on which rental car company are kosher, book a minicab fora dinner trip at night to Valletta and even help out with translations for messages in children's books I always take to donate to the National Children's Library in Floriana.
I heard another 'Sunseeker' hotel was being built in Malta but I had not put two and two together until reading it on one of there posts.
I am getting married in September 2005 and I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. Perhaps the lovely owners, George Tonna and his family (I think Trevor is his son) will hopefully read all of these and take it on board. Because in terms of location, you just can't beat it for price. You can walk to 1/2 dozen night spots all around there, you can swim right off the the square and I always prefer self catering so as to cook the local cuisine using the local ingredients. But that's me. I would recommend if you are worried-call them. They really are lovely people.

| said: Really enjoyed our stay here - Trevor runs a very smart operation and is investing a great deal in training his staff to a very high standard. We found it clean and comfortable apart from the mattress on my wifes bed - A word with reception and it was changed in a matter of hours. The room service was first class. The Pizza was fantastic - Oh that I could get one as good at home.
The trips out and about are a matter of taste- Swimming with Dolphins is not our scene but the place is steeped in history if you know where to go and - For anyone with an interest in art then St Johns Cathederal in Valetta is a must.

| said: This is my 4th visit to the Island and to be honest it really is starting to look very dirty in some places. Bugibba, Sliema, Valetta are all still quite nice but alot of the other places are dirty with rubbish everywhere.Paceville looks like a bomb has hit it.
The Complex was okay but certainly not up to standard,it was grubby and our apartment was in need of decor.Air con was leaking, towels never changed and the pool was cleaned only once in a fortnight.Entertaimment was awful, not too great in the voice department.
We ate out around Bugibba and the food was great, good value and tasty.I would recommend La Stalla,Bayside and La Mirabelle all of which were lovely.
The people are lovely and always helpful.
We went on a turkish gullet on the castaway trip to the Blue Lagoon, fantastic day out cost about £40 per adult and £20 per child. This included a buffet meal of steak, fish, salads and fruit plus all drinks were included in the price.Swimming in the Lagoon and Gozo plus we had a speedboat trip (hold on for dear life),absoluteley brill, very hot.
Also booked up to swim with Dolphins at a cost of £50 each.Great experience but place looked unkept and water looked dirty and murky and was covered in algae which we were told is more natural for the Dolphins to live in but Dolphins were fab.
All in all we had a good holiday. Trevor, the Manager of the Complex has been very helpful on this website as he likes to see what people say, but Malta will start to lose tourists unless it gets its act into gear and starts to tidy the place up.I hope people do not feel that I have gone over the top but I feel that is what this website is for.

Food I can only say thank god we ate elsewhere,
Location is very central in Buggiba and very noisy,
Staff were unhelpful and rude and entertainment was nothing to write home about.
I would not go back in a 100 years.
