The rooms haven't changed much from the last stay two years ago. Large, clean rooms, very nice and certainly better and bigger than the 'mid' priced hotels on the strip....by these I mean Monte Carlo, Aladdin, Treasure Island etc (I have stayed at all of these).
There is no internet access via the TV in the room as there was two years ago but there is a laptop net connection if you have one.
The pool area was still very uncrowded, drinks service is good around the pool.
Gambling wise, they have much more variation than 2 years ago. They still have quite a few blackjack and Pai Gow tables but also have three card poker, let it ride and others, with several $5 minimums, even at the weekends.
Food wise, we ate at the new TGI Fridays a couple of times, food was excellent and service was very good too. You know what you get with Fridays as they have plenty of them in the UK and I like them.
We also had a couple of lunches at the Japanese restaurant which was very good and inexpensive.
All in all I would still recommend the Orleans as a good, clean and 'cheap' hotel which is great if you want to stay in a nice Vegas hotel on a budget.
It is a bit of a pain being away from the strip but the shuttle bus is handy for getting to the strip and a cab back to the Orleans from the strip cost $12.
Oh, also, their players club card points don't expire like other hotels do, so the points we'd gained from two years ago still existed when we got there!

No complaints at all,weather was in the high 60,s/low 70,s so didnt use the pool. Ate at the coffee shop a few times (the 7oz sirloin,2 eggs and hash browns special at $2.95 was too good to pass up) Also terrible mikes burgers are brill,much better than McD,s or BK etc.
The room was a good size,2 dble beds,desk with i/net access sofa and 2 chairs and separate toilet/shower area ,there is also an ironing board and iron in the room.
Used room service a couple of times,very quick,good food.Used the shuttle a lot to get to the strip but the last run is around midnight,but a cab from mid strip to the orleans is less than $10.
While I,m on the subject we cabbed it from the airport and was about $12 to the orleans. Huge casino with good cocktail sevice when your gambling,if you,re not gambling then use your coupons from the book you get at check in,we used all ours in the Irish pub for pints of Guinness,there is entertainment in the Irish pub every night.
All in all a great place and would definately go back again.

| said: Lovely hotel and a bit of a surprise. Having stayed on the strip and Downtown several times we wanted to try the 'off strip' experience.
The rooms are very large and clean. The Pool area is large and VERY uncrowded, in fact I've never seen so much room around a pool in Vegas.
The Canal Street restaurant is excellent, it is their 'gourmet' restaurant and is fantastic, superb service and gorgeous food. ot expensive either, cost about £40 for two mains and a dessert plus drinks.
Sazios is an Italian restaurant, good food, but the restaurant itself is poorly laid out/decorated in my opinion. Reasonable price tho'
You have an 80 lane bowling alley and multi-plex cinema on site so it's nice to have something different to do!
The shuttle bus is free down to the Gold Coast and barbary Coast casinos, they run every 15 mins or so and are handy for getting to the strip.
Gambling - I didn't rate it, they have quite a few tables but they are all the same games - Blackjack, Pai gow Poker and Roulette. No Let it ride or Three card poker. They do have some diferent VP machines to the strip casinos though which is good.
There's also a designer Outlet Mall a few minutes away just off of I15. Costs about 7 dollars in a cab from the hotel. Some reasonable bargains to be had!
All in all I would highly recommend this hotel, particularly if you split your trip between the strip/Orleans or downtown/orleans. That way you don't miss the fact that you're not in the middle of everything.

| said: 2 ladies [40 and 50] stayed there for 4 nights in March.
Researched all Las Vegas hotels and could not have found better for the price. We paid 65 US$ per room per night through their web site. [any search engine will find it for you]. The rooms are as they say absolutely huge. Each room can comfortably sleep 4 people. Very clean, room service every day if you want it, however if you like a lie-in beware that the room attendants do start early.
I have no complaints about this hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food in the hotel is superb there are about 7 different eating places. We found 'the market street' cafe the best, prices reasionable too.
When you check in you will receive a voucher book with lots of discount coupons in, i.e 2 for 1 cocktails etc. We don't really gamble so I can't comment on that. The worst thing about the hotel is that it is slightly off the strip, although there is a courtesy bus service from the hotel to the strip which runs regularly. I could imagine that in peak season it may take a while to get up and down the strip though.
We checked out at the weekend as the rates went up considerably so we went to the 'IMPERIAL PALACE' then and this was quite a good hotel too and around 60 US$ per night through their web site WWW.IMPERIAL PALACE.COM
