Just got back from a week at this hotel, our fourth time in egypt, 1st time in Hurghada. On arrival at the hotel we gasped at the stunning exterior especially as it was dark and with all the lights it looked beautiful. On entering we were booked in quickly (the receptionist asked if he could have my cigarette case) made me feel a little uncomfortable to have to say no. The room we had was on the 4th floor and was very nice with a good view. The pool was lovely with plenty of beds as was the beach, you did not have to get down very early to get a bed. We found the food in the restaurant's was not good, not much choice. The breakfast was what you would expect but to be honest I have had much better at a 3* in Sharm. I found the staff to be mainly OK, I did tip well but still found that sometimes the service was very slow. I fould that the hotel in general was quite dingy and dismal, especially the bar areas. The food at the pool was OK but burgers seemed to be undercooked a lot of the time so be careful. Dougnuts in the beach bar were very nice as was the ice cream from the terrace.
We went out to the shops a few times and were never pestered it is a very wide promanade and a pleasure to walk down. Will I go back to this Hotel? No I dont think I will Will I go back to Hurghada? Definately

We stayed at the Siva Grand for two weeks this September, if you have booked this hotel then do'nt worry its great. This is the second time we have been to Egypt( Sharm the 1st visit).
The hotel is clean , i mean very clean, they even clear away what few stones there are from the beach at low tide to ensure the beach stays in its great condition .
The food was ok , its all inclusive so it does get a bit boring but this should not put you off, also on site there is a great Thia , this is not all inclusive but when you can by a whole lobster for £10 who cares , breakfast was fine as was lunch at the beach cafe, if you want burger and chips the pool bar will serve this , or veggie food the beach bar.
We did go out of the hotel to eat on a few occasions , great fish or local type to be found along the high street.
One of the things I was surprised about was the amount of facilities outside the hotel, this had not been mentioned in previous reviews, lots of shops and bars , turn right as you come out, not much left other than hassle from shop keepers.
The rooms were fantastic but if when you arrive they offer you a ground floor room refuse and ask for one on the second or above, you then get the views and are away from the people walking around in front of your room.We did this and had no hassle changing.
Entertainment was not for us , but others seemed to enjoy it, lots of football , volley ball etc during the day and shows at night. We preferred to sit at the bar , or walk along the high streets looking for bargins!
Staff are top draw, jsut remember to tip a litte bit at the start and end of each day and you will get great service, not alot £2-4 a day ample.
would i go back? probably not as there are other hotels I would wish to try but I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.
Beach great very safe for kids but if you want to snorkel on reefs from the beach then this hotel is not for you, better at Sharm, however there is a boat that for a fiver a day will take you out on a trip for three hours to the many reefs outside the bay.
We went on a boat trip to paradise island - you got to go , what an experience, oxford circus traffic with boats!!!!

Summary - if you want a peaceful holiday go out of peak season , and its great,We had no problems with the germans and to be honest some we very frendly.

have a great time we did. Hope this helped.

This has got to be the cleanest hotel we have stayed in for many many years, the only time you would see any rubbish or dirt around was if you took a very early 6am walk and even then staff were busy clearing up from the evening before!

The evening food was very very repetative. I am not asking for English food we do like local cuisine, however I am sick of the sight of buttered rice, manky salads, hard bread and tough meat. No idea what the fish was but my husband says it was the same every night. The puddings were very scrummy though.

Breakfast was lovely with omelettes, cakes, warm croissants, toast, meats and cheeses etc. and plenty of it!

Staff were very friendly and there was pool side drinks service. You will only get served 1 or 2 drinks during the day by these guys if you do not tip. If you do, the equivalent of 50p a day will ensure you get plenty of service. Same again in the restaurants, tip on the 1st drink you receive and your glass will not be empty.

Entertainment staff were lovely and friendly and do not hassle you to do activities unless you want to. Our only moan here was the evening programme run on a 7 days schedule but we took this oppurtunity to spend some family time playing games etc.

I would not recommend this hotel however due to 2 reasons. 1) The problems we had with the racism towards the few of us English that were staying there from the other tourists in the hotel (not the staff may I add). My husband even had 1 child come up to him with a water pistol which he unloaded in my husbands face screaming 'English are rubbish'.

and 2) If you did not get up before 8.30am to secure your sunbeds you did not have a hope in hell! Perhaps it was just because we did go in a very busy period.

First time in Egypt and could have not stayed in a better hotel, from the minute we left the coach we were treated like royalty, nothing was too much trouble.

The all inclusive was extensive with numerous bars and restaurants within the hotel to choose from. The hotel is situated on its own private beach with lovely views across the crystal clear waters of the red sea. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful and should you choose to tip then it is greatly appreciated (we are only talking a few pence).

The evening entertainment is in the form of local shows such as Lion King, Blues Brothers, Rocky Horror etc etc... and were performed outside in a marque, not bad the children will like it.

Inside the main building the entertainment is more low key and tends to be guests talking, playing cards, having a drink etc etc...

This hotel is of a very high standard and we will return in the near future, are only regret was we stayed for one week and not two as the weather could not have been better, between 75 & 85 degrees, not bad for February.

We have been to AI hotels before and the usual comment about food not being varied enough is true for this one but other than that, this hotel is excellent in every way. Having said that the quality of food was excellent and served by friendly helpful staff.

All the staff are marvellous, look out for Maged who works the pool serving drinks and food all day - he is a diamond !!

Rooms are large, clean, comfortable and well kitted out, the minibar was most welcome after a hot day by the pool. We had a romantic meal down on the sand bar one night which was lovely as long as you like sea food !! Did one trip from the hotel to Luxor and Valley of Kings, loved it !!

My husband said I didn't stop smiling all day, despite the 56 degree temp. It was a long day though so probably not for small children but the scenery fantastic and shocking to see how the Egyptians live in such squalor away from the resorts, you don't mind putting your hand in your pocket for tips after seeing that !

My self and my wife have just returned from this hotel and I was very apprehensive to say the least but we are already getting ready to book again next year.

We went on an all inclusive board basis and never spent a penny on anything except presents, even though at every meal we were offered extra drinks once we said "no thanks" they left us alone. I never really witnessed any favouritism towards the German guest's except the staff had a better grasp of German than English but considering that the majority of guest's are German that is to be expected.

The hotel was spotless and was being cleaned everyday with all the walkways around the hotel grounds being cleaned morning and night, the staff were always helpful and friendly and never hung around for a tip but always got one due to them being so helpful.

The food I thought was spot one with every night being a different themed night and we never had a problem getting a table and were always seated on our own.

The room we stayed in was a junior suite which had a king size bed TV,mini bar A/C and balcony overlooking the pool on the ground floor. The housekeeping staff were spot on as one day i forgot to take the do not disturb sign off and at 7.30pm he cleaned the room for us after I explained the problem and always left us a fresh bottle of water we I know some Germans didn't get this but that's maybe because I left him a 10 LE tip every morning and still gave him extra when we checked out

My only complaint was the animation team as they were really annoying at the pool side and I re named them the mickey mouse team as it reminded me of young kids on the mickey mouse club and it seemed strange to us that they gave them Saturday night off which back home is the party night but each to their own.

There is some nice shops outside the hotel and looking at it in a couple of years when its all complete it will be even better.

On a plus side they had a massive TV outside to watch the world cup on and showed every match on smaller TV's around the complex

So to sum up, all inclusive was worth every penny with all the bars you get, burgers, chicken burgers, hot dogs, chips, steak grills, popcorn, ice cream, pancakes, and every kind of drink including wine, whiskey and beer and you couldn't really go hungry

Hotel cleanliness, couldn't fault it some hotels in England should take note

Hotel food was always hot, well cooked and a great choice

Location, was fantastic and will be even better once all the surrounding areas are complete

Staff, superb, helpful and friendly even if you are English

Entertainment could have been better but was acceptable

Yes we would go again without a doubt

Nearly forgot the beach was stunning with not on day when we couldn't get a place and no towels were allowed to be reserved and this was adhered to every day

I along with my wife and parents travelled to this hotel for the second year running. The first year we went was in October and was still nice but less hours of sun in the day.
We timed the trip to meet up with a couple that we had met the first year and they also brought thier family this time so there was a large group of us.

I found the food very nice - admittedly there was quite a lot of German fare but there were 2 resturants for breakfast and there was all the usual food - pancakes, omeletes, cereals, yoghurts, croissant's and cakes, fresh and tinned fruits and the milk was nice too. For the Germans there was cold meats, cheese etc.

Lunches were really good - this was in the resturant by the beach and it was a 3 course lunch of a really large selection of which I found very tasty or you could have a chicken burger, sausage in a roll or beef burger and chips from the pool resturant or you could have a pure veggie meal from the other beach resturant/bar where they barbequed the vegetables. There was always plenty of fresh fruit, juices to have - but you had to pay for fresh juice in the morning.

Just after lunch - from 13.00 to 17.00 there was pancakes being cooked at the terrace bar

There were 2 resturants for evening meals and these were themed on some evenings and I found this a good idea, the food was good and tasty and plenty of it - all the food on breakfast, lunch and dinner was a buffet style.

If you really are fed up with the food there is a mcDonalds/pizza hut and burger king up the road - extra value meal at McDonald - GB£1.50 and a large pizza at Pizza Hut - GB£3.00.

The actual hotel was fantastic with a bar downstairs (for some reason the staff made this a paying bar - I think this was because it was in the hotel reception area and non guests could drink there?)and 2 upstairs, one was a normal bar and one a cocktail bar, a bar out side (terrace bar) where you could rent and smoke a shisa (hubbly bubbly pipe) for GB£1.50,including tobacco, and could buy one in a special bag for GB£15. There was another 3 bar's - one by the pool and 2 at the beach.

All of the Staff were lovely at the hotel - staff were always very helpful.
In the main hotel there were nice rooms with junior suites - larger than normal - there were also Bungelows - which was like a detatched structure with 6 to 8 large rooms in - some had bigger rooms and balconys than others.

All in all it was a good holiday but the the animation/entertainment staff do a really good job during the day with volleyball, boules, water polo, feng shui, aerobics, but the evening entertainments a bit poor, but the animation/entertainment team do try but the plays/shows that they do are all pre recorded voiceovers and it does not always come out that ok.

The beach was really nice - with a beach that took 15 minutes to walk out from - the sea was nice and warm - temperatures were 35-40C.
The beach was so nice that we never used the pool - by that was really nice too with seats in the pool at the bar.
Dont take beach towels as they are all supplied.

The location of the hotel is handy for shops and you can take a submarine ride from the hotel next door (francise in this hotel lobby) for GB£30.

At the next door hotel we used Dragon Divers and done a couple of 5 Metre dives - fantastic.
We are booking up (party of 6 this time) to go back to this hotel next year - absolutly recommend it - the whole experience is value for money.

We never travelled to the pyramids or done any of the scenery type trips but we did try water skiing, and went on a couple of boat trips with snorkelling - turtles seen and lovely coral to see.

Good hotel, food was not too bad. Staff were always friendly with us. It's a German owned hotel so obviously there are more Germans there, but if you don't want to mix with foreigners, stay in Blackpool!
Had a great game of water polo with some Poles.
We had no issues at all, although the entertainment is poor, but we've encountered that at other locations.

This was a fantastic holiday, in every way. From the moment of getting of the coach to leaving nothing was to much trouble. Yes the Siva is mostly German guests but we were never treated and different.

The staff were on hand at all times and were brilliant with the children.

We had never been all inclusive before and were a bit worried but we had no need to be.

Breakfast lunch and dinner were 5* the children never asked me my husband or their nanny for anything they loved all the food and drinks on offer and never moaned once.

Rooms, room service, cleaning of rooms all 5*.
my husband and I had a junior suite and Mum and children had a family suite, could not fault them in any way.

We`re all off again in December for Christmas and can`t think of a better place to be.

I went to the Siva Grand with my father after a week cruising the Nile. The room was very clean and the bed was massive. The view from our room was the best I've ever seen.

The hotel is spotless clean.

The food it was the worst I've ever had abroad, thank god for the burger bar by the pool which had the best burgers and hot dogs I've ever eaten, I lived on them for the whole week.

The staff always served the Germans before us English, on more than 1 occasion I asked for a drink only to be told I would have to fetch my own then off he went to serve all the Germans.

I never got to watch any of the entertainment at night but watching them practise by the pool in the daytime I don't think I missed much.

We stayed at the Siva Grand for a week and a very relaxing week it was.

When you arrive in Hurghada you think you are in a building site but look beyond that. The resort is peaceful with beautiful gardens and the cleanliness is of a high standard the only thing the lets it down I would say is the food it's aimed at the German guests (pickled veg for brekkie yuk).

We stayed in one of the bungalows which was nice and quiet.
The staff we found to be helpful and always ready with a smile.

I would recommend shopping around for any trips you would like to take,we booked all our trips out with the holiday rep as it was less than half price. If you like action try the quad bikes also a must is the boat trip to the coral reefs and don't miss a night out at the hard rock cafe.

We are already booking to go back in the spring of next year.

We stayed in the Siva Grand Beach in Hurgada.1st.week of Oct.2005.

We had a second floor junior suite with a lovely view over the pool and gardens to the beach, the room very good ,well equpied, king sized bed, fridge, hair drier ect.and was kept spotless by our room boy every day.

The down side was the resturants on the grd.& 1st floors. Food selection was poor and very repetitive what ever the theme night it always seemed the same.

Service was poor once the staff realised you were British and more so if you were femail then they totally ignored you. This happened more than once to my wife while waiting to be served eggs or omlettes at the breakfast bar and also in the cocktail and main pub bar on the 1st. floor, the waiters and bar men only seem interested in serving femails if they are young.

The hotel was all inclusive but every night come 11.15 pm the waiters and bar men seemed to become very absorbed in other jobs except serving drinks and as the all inclusive ended at 12 trying to get a drink between 11.30 and 12 proved very annoying.

That is why i would give the hotel staff restaurant and bars a 1. but the cleaning, room, reception, poolbar and beach staff a 4.

Hotel location was quite good plenty of shops and some very good resturants just outside the hotel and we did need the resturants.

Would we visit the hotel again? I think they would have to do a lot of staff retraining before my wife would ever go again.

Couldn't fault the hotel, everything spotlessly clean, friendly staff. If you remember to tip £1 for excellent service, 50p for good service, and none at all if you're unsatisfied you won't go far wrong.

Food was plentiful and the variety of choice was unbelievable, we certainly didn't go hungry, something for all tastes.

We enjoyed the singer at the Oasis beach bar!

In particular the staff there are very friendly, will bring you drinks, even when unasked for!

We had no problems obtaining a sunbed on beach or pool area, very hot, take factor 30!

We have just returned from a week in this hotel and wish we were still there! What a lovely, clean, friendly hotel.

On the surface it looks like one of the nicest hotels around and when you go inside you are not disappointed.

We think it is in a good location, there is no where you cant get too by walking or getting the free shuttle bus or by taking a local taxi / bus. Either side of the hotel there are small shops, cafe's, bars etc.

This hotel seems to have an army of cleaners who do a great job and we were never asked for a tip from any of these friendly people. Your room is cleaned every day (sometimes twice), fresh bedding, towels and water. We were told that all British tourists would be on the ground floor (something to do with the height of the balcony rails) However we were in the main hotel on the 2nd floor with a great view. We had a junior suit, well worth the extra £14, the room was well equipped with a hhhuuuuuggggggeeeeee bed! Mini fridge, sofa, coffee table, TV etc, the bathroom has a bath with shower, and a good hair dryer so don't bother taking your own.

The pool area and beach are fantastic, again always clean, we never had any problems getting a sun lounger and we were never out by the pool before 10am.

All the places to eat were again clean, no problems with flies!

The meals were good and I am a fussy eater but I managed to put on 6 pounds! You must try the omelette's at breakfast time and the crepes from Le Terrace between 1pm - 6pm. Once all the restaurants have closed you can still get tea, coffee, soup, cakes etc until midnight on the 1st floor next to the TV station.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and we did not feel as though they were holding out their hands for tips, we had heard that the staff favoured the German guests but we just did not find this the case, the way we saw it was that you should go there with a smile on your face, a friendly greeting for everyone and you will get the same in return....... try it.

The entertainment seemed pretty quiet in the evening, there was lots of day time stuff going on, aqua aerobics, water polo etc.

On the whole this hotel was fantastic, I have no complaints and we are just deciding which week to go back in the Spring!

The Siva is a very good standard and we had a fantastic time.

The staff are very friendly and in my view are not always looking for tips. In fact talking to them they share all tips even with the back room boys. However, the odd small tip here and there means you always have a drink and the same sun bed if that is what you want.

There is a good mix of nationalities with about 30% British which meant we had a good laugh.

The grounds are wonderful and you can choose to stay around the pool or the beach or in fact go on one of the many trips. My tip is that you do not book with you tour company as they seem to charge three time what the outside travel agents charge. You must do a boat trip to the coral.

The hotel is spotless with an army of cleaners.

The food was varied and you can have your eggs cooked however you like them at breakfast. You can eat from 10am to 10pm and there are tastes for all and I must admit that I do not think I can say I had a bad meal.

We have already re-booked to go back this winter.

We enjoyed a nice relaxing holiday because it was to hot to do anything else.

Very disappointed with entertainment.

Food was not always hot enough in fact at times more or less cold. The choice was fair and we certainly did not starve but some plainer types of food would have been an advantage.

The staff were to say the least money grabbing and were always on the lookout for tips usually before they earned them. Bar service and waiter service in the evening was poor and we certainly never saw anyone worse for drink because it wasn’t possible with the service.

It was disappointing that the hotel seemed to find many reasons to get money out of you even although we were all inclusive e.g. poor quality orange juice at breakfast but you could pay for better stuff.

Meals at night in the beach restaurant with entertainment which should have been available to everyone without paying extra that’s what all inclusive is meant to be.

AI Board Basis - food was tasty and had good range of salads and hot dishes, potatoes were really nicely cooked, pasta and rice too, no chips. Lots of fresh fruit and good choice at breakfast. Didn't eat at pool but beach restaurant was fine. Only prob was food could have been hotter.

Beer was ok, red wine lovely but white wine was like petrol. Bottled water provided free too. Branded spirits were sold at UK prices.

Hotel was spotlessly clean, staff friendly and contrary to some other posters' experiences, we didn't find them looking for tips all the time.

Rooms spacious and well furnished and towels changed every day if you leave them on bathroom floor.

This hotel is on one of the best beaches in Hurghada and having seen the downtown area, the quieter location of the Siva Grand is preferable. Plenty shops around selling souvenirs and perfume nearby and Paradise Travel, to the right as you exit hotel, can arrange trips much cheaper than the holiday rep.

Entertainment in hotel is very low key, not an 18-30 hol at all.

Hurghada is really a big modern tourist resort in the process of developing into something much much bigger so lots of building work going on, it's not exactly picturesque.

If you're there for 2 weeks it's definitely worth doing some trips to see a bit more of the 'real' Egypt. The trip to Luxor takes about 5hrs but is well worth it if you can stand the heat in the summer and the quad bike safari into the desert for sunset is also excellent. If travelling in the summer it's extremely hot; you must drink gallons of bottled water, the hotel will supply as much as you need.

Stomach probs are the norm so to minimise risk only eat what's been cooked or peeled. There are chemists every couple of yards well equipped with remedies.

Tipping isn't really a prob, tip little and often is the rule. Hurghada airport doesn't accept Egyptian currency, only USD or £ STG but no coins so get rid of your EGY £ before you come home. £15 sterling needed for visa on entry (English notes only) Don't take travellers cheques, no one wants them.

Spotlessly clean. Give a small tip to the towel man and he will save a sun bed for you every day(saves having to get up early & beats the Germans to it).

Food was the same as we had in other countries but much better quality.

Staff were very friendly & helpful, small tips oiled the wheels for good service.

At the pool bar Waled kept the drinks flowing, finish one the next was on the table.

The evening animation show lacked humour but in the day the animators always had time to talk, laughed & joke with you. The after mid night singer was not the best but after a few drinks who cared.

Do not use the bottled water in your room mini bar get bottles free from any of the bars. We liked helping our selves to the beer at the snack bar and pub.

When they spray for insects shut doors & windows. (Early mornings or evening).

We enjoyed our stay we have just booked for next year.

Just come back from the Grand Siva Beach Hotel, in Hurghada. Didn't know what to expect after reading the hotel reviews but I am pleased to say that my own personal review is good.

The hotel ie brilliant, even better than the 5 star Grand Hotel, which we visited. The hotel is the cleanest I have ever seen, they are cleaning 24 hours a day. The food is ok, there is something for everyone, even a kids corner. Only chips once a week though!!!.

The location of the hotel was fine, only 5/10 mins away from the aiport. Still doing some building work outside the hotel but it did not bother us.

The hotel staff were very nice, very helpful and spoke very good english, nothing was too much trouble. Just remember and tip the waiters and they will be your friend forever, our waiter was called Mohammad, kept calling my husband Prince, very funny, they certainly keep you amused.

The entertainment was ok for the kids but not so good for the adults, but once you meet people and had a few drinks you can put up with it.

I would definately visit the hotel again, my first visit to Egypt and I would recommend the Grand Siva to anyone.

Having just recently returned from a week at the Siva Grand hotel. After reading previous reports on the hotel we had reservations about what to expect on arrival and to our pleasant surprise we were delighted at what we saw.

After a day or so of settling in we found the hotel staff to be very pleasant and friendly (to all nationalities) and were always there to be of assistance.

The hotel itself we found to be of a high standard of cleanliness, as for the food we found to be also of a high standard with a good selection (different everyday) and always hot.

Overall we found the holiday to be very satisfactory and are looking forward to returning there in the near future.

I visited Siva Grand Beach in February with my husband, mother and 21 month old daughter. After reading other reviews about the hotel I wasn't quite sure what to expect but when we got there I was pleasantly surprised.

The hotel was extremely clean and the staff were very friendly, and we were never ignored by staff who we were told favoured the German visitors to the hotel over British visitors.

The choices of food throughout the day was excellent, however there was more of a continental twist on an evening in the restaurant and we found the food quite limited, especially for my daughter. However, with all of this in mind I would not hesitate to stay here again if I ever visit Hurgharda again and I definitely would recommend this location to friends and family.

Apart from the pool and beach grills, the food was poor, compared with other all inclusive packages we have been on.

The majority of the bars and entertainment were inside the hotel and there was not enough seating or "quiet" areas. You also had to queue for tables in the restaurant for your evening meal.

The entertainment was poor for a hotel of this size.

The priority of the staff was to look after the German guests, and if you wanted a sunbed on the beach you had to be down there for 6.30 a.m.!

Thank goodness we only had one week.

As an All Inclusive package it's not bad. Plenty of food all the time although they cater for German taste.

It's a nice clean hotel and staff can be seen constantly cleaning the public areas.

We weren't impressed at all by the location - outside the hotel it's like a building site. Hurghada is obviously a new resort and as such is expanding constantly with none of the new buildings finished. You take your life in your hands if you try to walk along the main road to the shops.

We were hoping for a spot of snorkelling but there's none to be had unless you pay for a boat trip - VERY disappointing, particularly if you've been to Sharm el Sheik.

The priority of the hotel staff seems to be to look after the German and Russian guests. English people are almost invisible!!! We found out from some Germans that Siva is a German owned chain hence the huge German patronage. We certainly will not be visiting this hotel again.

Myself and 6 friends visited this hotel on 10th - 17th December 2004, looking for a bit of winter sun. It was our first experience of All Inclusive, and I wasn't disappointed.

The food was fresh and always hot, and yes, there were a lot of Germans there, but we were made more than welcome (maybe because there were 7 of us!) My friends mum who's 86, got chatted up by all the waiters, and even had a mock wedding ceremony with three of them! She loved it!! Made her holiday!

Just a tip for December though, it can get a bit breezy and cold in the evenings, so take a cardi! Staff were very attentive, in the hotel and in the beach bar, we'd certainly go back again! Even on the last day, our flight was delayed by 8 hours, and they kept the all inclusive open for us, so we could have a nice meal and a few drinks before we left.

Only one thing, one lady phoned home and was told the flight was still running over 4 hours late, however, they did take us to the airport, so we were hanging about there for hours, not the best end to the holiday.

Hotel was fab, very clean, couldn't fault it!!!

We visited over Xmas and there were a lot of Germans but they were fine mostly.

The lads at the pool bar were superb never pushed for tips or anything. I found that if you go out of your way to talk to them they are superb if you just get your drinks and walk away as long as you are polite they are

Food was ok nothing special though 'the entertainment' wasn’t my cup of tea but always something going on. The worst thing was when they ask you if you want a special drink say no because they charge you for it.

The whole area is being modernized outside the hotel so it is a building site but there is nothing to see anyway just a lot of tacky shops overall had a good time apart from getting the runs for 2 days may have been the bar lads fault for bringing 20+ beers over every 30mins.

Firstly I was really nervous about this hotel as I have read that the food was not to a high standard. I was pleasantly shocked at how good this hotel was.
When we arrived we were shown to our room which was a good side and a small balcony (on the ground floor).

Food – Most of the previous reviews have criticised the food, yet in my honest opinion the food was really nice. The breakfast was nice with a choice of pancakes, omelettes, breads & pastries, cereals, fruits and cooked breakfasts. For snacks (1-5pm) there was a burger bar by the pool selling beef burgers, chicken burgers and hot dogs or something similar by the beach which was bbq food. There was also a crepe restaurant (but I was never hungry enough for that). The main lunch buffet was between the beach and the pool which had a choice of salads and meats, various choices for lunch and then various deserts.
The evening meal was split into 2 restaurants – upstairs and downstairs. Yes, they served the same food but this is not a criticism. This is done because the hotel is very busy and it stops huge queues forming and not enough room in the restaurant.

Drinks – Local drinks are free which includes Gin, Rum, Vodka and whisky (I think). Also local beer, wine and soft drinks.

There was a few bars that server drinks (Pool Bar, Cocktail Bar – the choice of cocktails were very limited but then I am an Archers and Malibu girl and the normal bar).

The poolside and beach had a good animation team – they had aqua aerobics, water polo, beach volleyball and football. On the evening they had entertainment which were mainly musicals with the animation team dancing. To be honest the entertainment wasn’t our cup of tea but some people like that kind of thing.

I agree that there is a lot of Germans in the hotel but we had no problem being served at the bar, no problems over dinner and no problems at reception!

The pool was large and did feel a bit cold but then it was a large pool and I found it nice and refreshing. We never had any problems with sun beds, and we came to the pool and beach at various times! There was also plenty of places in the shade!

We visited the Siva Grand after a weeks cruise on the Nile from Luxor and were disappointed by the attitude of the staff.

The hotel caters for 80-90% German & Dutch, but that isn't really a problem.

My 10yr old had contracted a bug in Luxor and collapsed upon arrival at the hotel. The Doctor on site was brilliant, he spoke good English and was very thorough. The reception staff were also great. However, they hit us with a £200 bill for an extra room - the Junior Suites are not 'Family Rooms'as thought by Panorama.

The rooms are a good size and clean, but are not mopped, so things get a bit dusty.

The beach is great, although the only decent snorkelling is by the jetty and the wreck (which is 100m off shore).

The hotel is fabulous as is the beach and pool, a week is long enough - I wouldn't go again.

Me and my partner stayed at the Grand Siva for 1 week and we were pleased it was only for one week.

You are invisible if you are not a german they favoured them all the time we were there. The sunbeds are a nightmare to get if you're not up before 8am because the germans claim theirs first thing.

The hotel was very clean and your room was always cleaned by housekeeping.

The location of the hotel is a bit strange, you really are in the middle of nowhere but the beach is perfect, crystal clear water.

The hotel staff in the main hotel ignored you if you were not german and the food is nothing special. When we were there we had a letter sent around warning us that hepatitis A was on the outbreak from people returning from the hotel.

The day we received this letter it was in german and they could give us no further information because they didn't have an english copy until 24 hours later. Tourists have contracted Hepititis A but we have had no warning from Panorama so we had to contact them to find out what was going on.

We still have not had any explanation and no advice to go and see our doctor. We are not happy with the service we have been given at the resort and Panorama.

Transfer from airport is only a short time and distance. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. All the staff bar one or two were friendly and extremely helpful. We found that by tipping small amounts the service was excellent although I think it was very good anyway. In the first week there was predominently a German presence but there were more English in the second week but I personally don't care what nationality the guests are and it made no difference to the quality of service. Virtually every staff member spoke good English. Using just a couple of Arabic phrases - Hello, thank you, one beer please was really appreciated by the staff and led to many convesations and laughs with them. The quality and variety of food was extremely good. The beach was on the doorstep and very nice. The entertainment during the day was fine but the evening entertainment wasn't really to our taste being musical reviews most nights. All in all I thought it was very good value

this is at first an attractive hotel with all the amienties you would expect from a four star hotel in eqypt.we arrived at the hotel in a coach full of other british holidaymaker but didnt see them again until our departure at the end of the two weeks! the reason for this was that the british are a minority in this hotel which caters predominantly for german holidaymakers. the staff definately favoured german tourists although some individual members of staff were very helpful and courteous. We were always greeted in german and by the end we replied in german and therefore recieved better service. We did feel isolated during our stay and it did detract somewhat on what was a very nice holiday. the rooms were very nice and kept very clean. the food served at both restaurants was exactly the same and therefore lacked some variety.A tip for those going to this hotel - dont leave your table empty, you will probably find some germans sitting there on your return. Being an all-inclusive hotel i expected the entertainment to have been better at night although there was plenty to do during the day- volleyball, water polo, gymnastics etc.
despite being an allinclusive hotel there were many extras which the brochure does not mention. we were always offered cocktails and juices at a price and hassled to pay for themed nights and parties. Much of the action was to be had in the town itself and the hotel's sister hotel the grand beach, which i was begrudged to pay for having paid enough for this all inclusive holiday.

As stated in other reports this hotel is predominantly German but also there are Dutch and Danish so the English make up only around 1% of the guests- Panorama are the only UK agent and only have around 40 guests in a hotel with a capacity of around 2000 although there wouldn't normally be more than around 1000-1500 guests.
This means that English speakers are very much in the minority are are treated as such. You are guaranteed very poor service from the staff who all speak excellent German but appear to have little understanding of English - they have a tendancy to ignore you if you speak in English. We proved the anti-British theory by speaking in German and receiving much better service at the bar!!
It must be said though that the above is true of the whole resort. The British are so much in the minority that you would have to expect the locals to speak German - if only we were warned of this before we set off we could of brushed up a little on the language skills!

The hotel itself is very nice. Very clean, the rooms are more than adequate (we slept 3 in one room and it was plenty big enough).
The facilities are very good - private beach, large pool, plenty of bars etc. One complaint is that the 2 restaurants served the same food every night. We expected that the fact it had 2 restaurants would mean a choice of menu - it didn't.
The entertainment was ok. I guess it depends on what you expect, but there was water polo, basketball ball, table tennis etc during the day and a different show every night.

The biggest irritation during our stay was the continuous pestering to buy something. Being All inclusive we expected no hassle at all, but there was always a member of staff trying to sell something - fruit juice, cocktails, romantic meals on the beach, it just seemed never ending and soon became very annoying.

having visited Egypt for the last six years ,we are disapointed with the service of the staff at the Siva grand resort. we found if you could not speak german they just ignored you . we found this to be the case in the main dinning room, and the main bar on the first floor. although the room staff were very good. i complained on site to the head waiter and to the service manager, about the points stated and they agreed with me , that this hotel is geared more for the Germans. it is a beutiful hotel and the location is perfect. we enjoyed our second week back in our usual hotel the isis hotel in luxor.

On arrival the hotel appeared to be first class the main problem was the Germans who at the time we went accounted for approximately 80% of the holiday makers.
As we like foreign food we found it to be very good. We were disappointed that we were located on the first floor as we didn't have a sea view.
The waiting on staff always spoke to you first in German but we didn't hesitate to inform them that we were English who they appeared to like, however, the Reception Staff and Customer relation staff clearly favoured the Germans. On one occasion one of the dining rooms was full, we were asked to wait (no problem) however a German couple came up behind us and were given a table straight away. The soft drinks eg Cola/Fanta were of very poor quality and they didn't have Bacardi or white rum. Whilst on holiday it was my birthday, we booked a meal in the beach resturant (extra charge) but they made me feel very special and really went out of their way. I agree fully with the above report from G.D. of Hull although we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.

The all inclusive is more like all extra, for example fresh orange juice was extra.
Cocktails such as Tequila sunrise was extra.
Bottled beer was extra.
(this is not in the Panorama brochure).

As you would expect from buffet style food it was never hot and probably more for the German taste as the hotel has 70% Germans.
The Busboys did a great job of clearing the tables, usually while you were at the buffet getting your next course and return to find someone else sat in your chair.

The sandy/gravel beach was really good and has a sand spit that went out 200 hundred metres.
Due to the 70% Germans you had to be an early bird to get a sun lounger.

The 'Pub' was part of the lobby with a broken pool table.

If you travel with Panorama you can only stay on the ground floor due to the balcony railings being under one metre high. (this is not in the brochure).

Junior suites are just one room and if there are more than two people they move the furniture outside to make room for the extra beds.
The standard rooms are probably better than the junior suites so don't bother upgrading.

From Luxor it is 5 1/2 hour transfer in the convoy not 4 hours as the brochure says.
If you arrive in luxor after 5pm you will miss the last convoy and will have to spend the night in Luxor.
If you have to go back to Luxor you will leave the Hotel at 05;40 even if your flight is at 20:30 as ours was due to the armed guarded convoy.

Therefore you will lose the all-inclusive on the last day.

I would class this as a 3 star hotel and I've been to Egypt before.

We stayed in this hotel for 1 week in Jan 2005 and had a great time.

The hotel was spotless, the pool and beach were superb.

If you talked to the staff we found they went out of their way to help and the service was no problem at all. Yes the hotel does cater for German, Swedes and Russian mainly but we were treated exactly the same and at times better.

The only down side we really found was that the food was bland and very much the same every day and the entertainment left a bit to be desired. Also in the evening it could be a bit difficult to find a seat in the lobby but it was Winter so cool in the evening and people were reluctant to sit outside.

The beach is very safe for kids with a shallow lagoon that stays 2-3 foot deep for a long way out.

The hotel is not surrounded by much but if you just want a break by the pool/sea it's ideal. There are plenty of things to do in the day like water polo, aqua aerobics, volleyball and boules and it's a good way to interact with other guests.

In general a great clean hotel with good service and yes we would go again!!!!
