We spent a week here and loved every minute. Although we booked with H&J I emailed the hotel and they arrenged a transfer from the airport for me. My first impression is that security here is very tight - no one can just wander in.

The grounds are beautiful and spotless clean - didnt see one piece of rubbish all week. Pool/beach butlers are excellent, really friendly and helpful. Although we were on a bed and breakfast booking we only ate in the hotel. The food is excellent with lots of selection. Imported wine is very expensive but the Egyptian wine (a first for me) is fine.

The hotel runs a courtesy bus three times a day into Naa'ma Bay.

We arrived at the hotel after a decent enough flight, but then had to wait for what ended up being 2 hours whilst we waited for another couple who had unfortunately lost their bags.

I would advise people to book private transport instead of the communal transport and that way they can get straight to the hotel without delay.

When we eventually got to the hotel we were immediately very impressed with the standard. We had paid for a "sea view" room, but one would have had to stretch to see the sea and although we had asked for a double bed, it turned out to be two singles. We returned to reception and complained and after a short time and a few determined words they gave us a proper double room with a better sea view.

From then on, the place was fantastic! The service was very good with extremely helpful staff. We were very pleased to see that they had a lovely pool that catered for Adults only. Children were not allowed in and any that arrived with or without their parents were politely shown to the other pools. Parents with children should not feel bad about this as the other pools are bigger and better for the extra energy of children. We were very impressed with the helpfullness and diplomacy of the pool captains in this area.

Food was very good and the Thai resaurant suposedly the best in the area, but we thought that the Souk resaurant was a dissapointment. It has a good choice that you pay for with a system of tokens that you buy in advance. It is not too expensive, but we found the food to be rather ordinary. You sit at tables in the centre of the "Souk" more or less facing the stage where the entertainment takes place. Most of the entertainment is dancing and Egyptian music, but we found the amplified music to be far too loud to be pleasant.

Breakfast was excellent with a staggering choice, but try to get in early or you will be trampled in the rush!
Entertainment was not that good really, but I have marked it higher than I would normally have done because the management put on a superb effort to screen the live Rugby world cup final on giant screens. Refreshment was also on sale to quench the thirsts of hoarse throats!

The hotel also has it's own private beach with a long floating jetty which takes you out to the reef where you can snorkel or scuba. You can hire equipment from their small shop at minimal rates and the views on the reef are fantastic with thousands of brilliantly coloured fish. I swam for 2 hours at a time, but beware that you don't burn your back with the sun.

This whole review would have been virtually faultless if it hadn't been for an unfortunate occurance. We had enjoyed a splendid meal and settled in the lounge bar where I ordered a Cognac (Hennessy, which I know well). When it arrived I immediately knew that it was watered down! I took it back personally and watched as he poured another one. This was also watered down and not just slightly, but quite obviously. This was sad because it spoiled the great feeling we had built up about the Egyptian staff. To suddenly realise we were being cheated left a bad taste. I went to complain to the manager the next day and was told that he was on his day off, but I could see the Egyptian undermanager. He took my complaint and promised to look into it. A couple of days later I spotted the South African Manager and checked with him that my complaint had been passed on. It had not been passed on and the manager seemed genuinely shocked at my report. He reassured me that he would certainly look into it and it would be treated with the utmost seriousness. I left it at that and I don't know what the outcome of this was.

Although this is bad, the hotel was so good that we will be returning although I think I will stick to the beer in future!

Notwithstanding the bad bit,I would recommend this hotel for singles and couples with and without children. It is of a very high standard and some decent smart casual clothes should be packed for evening wear.

The sun is very hot in the season, so pack a very high factor suncream if you burn easily.

Have stayed at this hotel about 5 or 6 times now so really a local have taken friends and family there over the past years and can say that other than the 4 seasons it is the best hotel in Sharm. They always give you a room you are happy with and tend to reserve the same room for us as we love the location of it so much.

If you have not stayed there yet it is a must I recommend it all the time back home to people who ask where to stay in Sharm and we have been going every year sometimes twice a year since 1995.

My boyfriend and I stayed here last summer. It was a great hotel, the best I've stayed in! It was very clean, the staff were very helpful over helpful if anything!

The food was outstanding, we only stayed on bed and breakfast basis but found ourselves eating in the hotel most nights. The 'Souk' restaurant is the best! Choice of 5 different types of food and a special which is completely different each night!

The entertainment was pretty much same old every night but if you go into town there is no need to moan about the entertainment!

The Thai restaurant is lovely, expensive but worth it, lovely seating area outside which over looks the pools and sea/beach! We had to move inside as it was too hot to sit out there and eat which was a shame!

The spa in the hotel is wonderful, great massages etc! Beautifully decorated rooms with candles etc!

The hotel was very busy when we stayed. Yet everyday no matter what the time you could find a sunbed which is very rare! Great Adult only pool so you don't get the kids splashing! The actually do come over to this pool and ask the kids to get out if they do start to swim in this pool.

Would come back to this hotel again! Since staying here I have recommended this hotel to many!

This must be the best hotel in Sharm !!

Everyone in the know, in Sharm, will tell you it is either this one or the 4 Seasons, but the 4 Seasons is very formal (ok if that's what you want, we prefer our hotel staff a little friendlier!) and the location is not as good.

The moment you arrive you are well looked after, met off the coach and luggage taken by the staff and, once your room is identified, off it goes whilst you are taken for a little guided tour on the way to your room.

We booked a sea front room, well worth the extra for an unobscured view of the Garden Bay.

(tip: we emailed the hotel a week before and requested an upper floor room, they are only 2 storey, but because of the terraced aspect, if you are on ground floor level you will only have a view of the grass and the sea horizon)

The rooms are lovely, large, with king size bed, well appointed and good 4 star rating I would say, kept well cleaned, fresh sheets every day.

Food was really good. The Souk restaurant was a great idea, nice set up with the "coin" system, lots of choice, only glitch being the repetitive Egyptian music and dancing same every night.

Beach grill is lovely, open every day but only open for dinner 3 nights a week. Cascades was great for lunch, right next to the pool. Sala Thai is fabulous and correctly regarded as the best restaurant in Sharm, authentic Thai wood carved decor, very good food, (been to Thailand so can comment!)

We had our 28th Wedding Anniversary dinner there and were made a real fuss of!! I arranged a single red rose and a cake as a surprise for my Wife and when I asked the price I was told that it would be complimentary !!. Did not eat at the Cafe Fresco as breakfast is served there, so a bit repetitive, but the menu looked good.

Location is fantastic, right on middle garden reef. Each morning saw at least ten dive and snorkeling boats coming into the bay from Naama Bay to drop off their clients, and it's there all day for us!! The reef is truly unbelievable, all I can say is if you don't snorkel, LEARN!!!

Close enough to the resort area, five minutes by taxi.
(tip: go to Naama Bay by hotel limo, it costs 56 LE fixed price and is by air con Mercedes. Otherwise you are going by local taxi, dirty 20 year old estate Peugeot, no air con and the haggling for the price is unbelievable, they want 50LE to begin with! but will settle for 30LE. That is after extreme haggling and I speak a fair amount of Arabic!!).

Hotel staff are excellent. Could not do enough for you, with, I feel, the correct balance of formality and familiarity. Pool butlers are brilliant and if you go to the same pool every day he will reserve your favourite sunbeds for you each morning. He would not even let us blow up our own inflatables! Took them from us, blew them up and returned them! Will arrange waiters to serve you, if you look like having difficulty attracting one. Would put up your sun parasols and even give you extra towels without asking for them.

All of the staff are as helpful as they can be and go out of their way to please you.

Room service was great, and food was relatively cheap to have delivered to you. (tip: For those who can't be bothered pressing clothes before you go. I had 8 shirts and 4 tee shirts collected at 9am and returned beautifully pressed into my wardrobe by 3pm for 12 Quid!!!).

Entertainment was a little thin on the ground, as I said previously, the Souk area was repetitive, only other entertainment was the Piano man in the Music & Stars bar, and he was very good. Sang and played some really great songs.

As others have said, drinks are expensive, and how they can justify 250 quid for a bottle of Moet, 115 quid for a bottle of cava and 67 quid for a bottle of blossom hill Cabernet is beyond me!!! Especially when a decent bottle of wine in Sharm airport duty free shop is $USA 8!!

However don't let that put you off, it's the only negative.

Spa was sooo good, we all had massages and felt fantastic afterwards. Sauna,s team room and warm Jacuzzi are free and can be used whenever you want.

Bank in the Souk area gave 10.1 to the quid which was good and so convenient, no traipsing round the resort for your exchange.

Overall, it is a fabulous hotel, the pools and lazy river are lovely, beach and reef area is great, restaurants and all of the staff are brill. Rooms very comfortable, whole hotel is spotlessly cleaned, gorgeous garden areas, excellent spa .You really could not wish for any more, and they make you feel like the most important V.I.P. guest at all times !!!

All added up, all 4 of us had one of the best holidays we have ever had and are already planning our return!.

Hi All - just got back from a week at Hyatt Regency in Sharm (28th aug to 4th sep). Any prices below are Sterling.

Hotel Security - felt very safe in hotel. On arrival - guards search bags and you have to go through a bleeper archway thing (like at airport). On night they have a man watching over beach front area. Due to recent bombings - hotel not very full.

Location - Superb. 15 mins from airport but no problems with planes so this was excellent. Hotel built on sloping hill face and gardens/ bulidings decend down to sandy / coral cove. Hotel covers a large area but superb (beautiful) layout. 10 mins taxi to Nam bay & 20 mins to old Sharm market area. Stayed within Sinai area so never bothered with visas. Went to Nam Bay in daytime - was not impressed. Much better on night. Went to older Sharm market one night - hated it!!

Hotel - Very posh!! Beautiful bulidings and gardens layout / spotlessly clean / decent gym / luxurious spa facilities. Several pool areas and water falls dotted in amongst the grounds. Lovely lazy river runs around them. 80m water shute - the main reason for booking this place to keep kids amused was a master stroke - even if I say this myself!! We all loved it and was very poplular with all the families there.

Rooms - spotless and we had superb views over cove and sea and did not pay for FULL sea view (room 5317 and 5318 which I requested before the hol and were duly given on arrival - nice!!). Looked like pretty much all rooms had good views. Lovely bathrooms. We found both ours and our kids' (kids are 13 and 15 yrs old) room next door to be surprisingly cool even without air ???? on. This was fortunate as on the occasions when we did use the air ???? for a short blast at night it was very effective at cooling the room but noisy.

Service - Did not go Regency Club but service still extremely friendly and made you feel like royalty. Any problems sorted pretty much immediately!! Except the pool side drinks & food service - terrible (I'm still waiting for my beer!!)

Health - On our Egyptian friends' advice - we never drunk ice and ran showers for 5 mins before using (in case of disease spores building up if they were not used for long time). All 4 of us had no tummy bugs at all.

Beach / Coral snorkelling - Loved the beach cove (very comfy loungers). Coral snorkelling was a superb experience for 5 euros snorkel hire and right on our beach!! You enter the beach from the hotel via an underground "cave" tunnel - cool!!

Eating at Hotel - Not cheap. Several bars and restaurants. Typical meal for 4 of us on nightime in the "cheaper" Souke main restaurant area (choice of Meddy / Italian / Chinese etc...) would be approx £40 without drinks. And quality not that good. Posher Thai and the buffet restaurant cost a lot more (£24 per head for buffet!!). Kids loved using room service on a night - watching films and having tea in bed. A typical burger / chips / canned drink would cost approx £7.50 - not bad and quality ok. Breakfast was great food and great service - a real treat. Eating at Nam bay provided a big choice of food and cost. Egyptian restaurant to the right of hard rock cafe and up some stairs is highly recommended by lots of people (we love Italian and went to Zagilies which was ok - not great). Limited veggy choice. Hotel wine choice and quality was rubbish. On site food market was expensive and very limited choice.

Weather - Very hot but not unbearable like all the pre-hol fuss I was hearing. The great pools will mean that you will probably spend lots of time in water and there is always the option to remain under your parasol shade like I did. However, the majority of people I saw around the pools were sunbathing (and not one of them melted into a sticky pile of fat like I assumed you did before the hol). Perfect time of year for temp for most people is Easter.

Overall - One Egyptian couple staying there said that whilst many people stay away from bombed resorts - that's where the "clever" people book and go a few weeks later. Then you get top security / no queues and better deals!! Let's face it, any holiday is a risk these days but fortunately we survived and had a fantastic hol in a truly beautiful, luxurious hotel.

My boyfriend and I just returned from the Hyatt on friday having had the most amazing holiday. The moment we arrived our cases were taken off us and after checking in we were taken to our huge room with queen size bed and a stunning sea view. Having only requested a sea view room rather than a sea front room we were slightly concerned that the view may be just a glimpse of the sea over the roof of another apartment so we were pleasantly surprised! The room was cleaned daily (as long as you remember to turn off your privacy light!) and we really could not fault the service of the housekeeping staff.

As for food the Sala Thai restaurant is definitely the best place to eat in the hotel however expect to pay £40 for a meal for 2 not including wine. The Beach House restaurant was a pleasant surprise, its not listed in the hotel guide book as serving food on an evening so we were impressed when venturing down there for drinks one night to find it serves fresh seafood cooked in whatever way you choose! The Souk was probaly our least favourite of the eating places, you have the choice of Italian, Chinese, Moroccan and Indian/Mexican (varies on different nights) If having pizza at the italian be sure to watch the guy put your toppings on, if not you are likely to get the wrong ones as they dont write your order down anywhere!! The service here was pretty slow and the entertainment was laughable, the dancers looked like they really didnt want to be there and we werent very impressed by the belly dancer!!

Must admit the service in general was great at the Hyatt. The pool guys couldnt do enough for you, if all the sunbeds were taken (usually all the towels are out by 10 am!!) they would find space for you and move beds around to fit you in!! if you start to move your bed or umbrella to reposition yourself they are straight over to help and wont let you lift a finger!! We did find the service in the restaurants a little slow, particularly in the Thai, however this seemed to be due to them being understaffed rather than anything else.

Overall we would absolutely definitely go back to the Hyatt, in fact I want to book another holiday there already!

Impressive hotel with great staff 4.5/5 - pool butlers are a great idea and will go out of their way to get you a sunbed (an end 'reserving' with towels!).

Room was ok, nothing more, nothing less - 3.5/5 . Facilities are quite good with three pools (so not much over-crowding, although one pool and the water slide was out of action), evening entertainment was ok.

The hotel is on quite a steep slope so it can be a bit of a slog walking from the sea back to your room in 40+ heat. You can snorkel off a floating jetty (into deep water though) or from the beach but I think more eco information could be provided by the hotel as I saw lots of people walking on the corals!
I also thought there was a reasonable current at certain times of the day, though no sign of lifegaurds.

The free hotel bus to Naama bay is a joke, there is no such thing as queing just a mad rush to get on (and off) and they do try to load it up as full as possible (not even standing room left!), so it does get hot; thankfully the trip is only about 10/15 minutes. Facilities overall 3/5.

The final thing was food, which I thought really let the hotel down, the breakfast was appalling with birds all over the pastries /bread although as a token guesture on the last day of our stay there was a waiter stood there waving a napkin over the food to keep the birds off! The fruit juice tastes like neat concentrate and needed at least 50% water to make it drinkable!

Overall breakfast=0.5/5. Lunches (burgers/pizzas etc) were ok in the pool bar 3/5. I thought any of the dinners we had in the various restaurants were expensive and not very good, but the thai restaurant was superb (even my partner who doesn't like spicy food said it was excellent).
Dinners=2/5 but thai gets 5/5.

Overall hotel is ok/good but expensive and let down by the food.

Luxurious hotel
3 pools including lazy river and corkscrew slide (although this was out of action at the end of holiday due to pool leak.

Staff really friendly. Breakfast lovely with fresh fruit, pancakes, omelettes cooked as well as cereal.

Beach restaurant idyllic and souk although a bit like a food court practical for a family.

Location brill: could just walk from beach or jetty straight into coral with amazing fish. Entertainment OK but not exciting: belly dancing + dance music.

Food and drinks expensive compared to prices at Nama Bay.

We arrived at the hotel about 6pm in the afternoon. Your cases are taken from you as soon as they are unloaded and taken straight to you room. The reception is beautiful and huge and very well maintained. It has a fantastic view of the sea, which is really spectacular. Reception staff are very polite and courteous. You are handed a cool drink upon arrival, which was great as in May it is really, really hot! The hotel complex is huge, with access for disabled. The hotel is positioned on a slight slope. We were taken to our room by one of the reception staff who gave us an overview of the hotel on the way. I emailed the hotel with a few queries before we went and they met all of our requirements which was nice (I believe this was down to the hyatt gold passport)

I do feel the staff take receiving tips for granted, until we went to Naama Bay we didnt know there was any other notes besides a LE50 or LE100! I dont mind tipping at all but I prefer to decide who to tip and how much.

We were upgraded to a full sea view room, with the help of a Hyatt Gold Passport (get one - worth it even if only to extend your room stay upon day of departure with no charge!). The rooms themselves are spacious and very comfortable. Huge TV with lots of English speaking channels should you desire to watch TV. Excellent kingsize beds. Nice bed clothes. Internet connection. Table and chairs. Balcony with sun lounger and additional table and chairs. Air conditioning. Lots of wardrobe space and drawers.

We found that housekeeping was done in the morning and they checked again in the afternoon to see if your room needs a refresh. Each day about 6pm the minibar is restocked with chocolate, alchohol, soft drinks and crips/nuts. In addition you could drink as much tea of coffee as you wanted. Although we found housekeeping was efficient I feel the rooms could do with a bit of a makeover, especially as the rest of the hotel is kept in immaculate condition. We found the plug hole in the shower didnt drain as quick as it should do. If you have a shower at a busy time of day (9.00-10.00am or 8.00-9.00pm) then there doesnt seem to be much hot water or power behind the spray. There are little issues such as the toilet holder cover falling off, skirting boards a little chipped, corners of the walls scuffed and chipped, more four star than 5 star.

We found that there is enough food options to keep you satisfied for a two weeks stay. Breakfast (7.30-10am)was great with lots of choice. Fresh pancakes and omlettes, cold meats, various cheeses, croissants, fresh fruit, toast maker, fresh fruit juices, tea/coffee and you can ask for various types of tea and coffee if you dont like the standard (which is actually just fine!) I would advise breakfast before 10.00am as it seems to get very busy around that time!

Dinner options were ok, the beach house is excellent for seafood although a little dark in the evening if you arent positioned under a lamp. They also offer chicken and beef options if you fancy a change.

Cascades pool bar offers lunch options, hot dogs, burgers, pizza, salads and costs approx LE150 for 2 people for a lunch time snack

Unfortunately, i cant recommend the Souk, we tried it 3 times and each time were disapointed. They have five outlets to choose from, Italian, Mexican, Indian, Chinese and a Desserts outlet. They give you a little bag of coins worth LE20 each, as you go round you pay with your coins - most meals are about 3-4 coins. they then count how many coins you have left and bill you for what you have used. Drinks are added seperately from the coins. They also have a chap wandering round with Hibiscus juice which tastes like Ribena - free of charge. They have entertainment in the form of Belly Dancers and a guy spinning round with plates, it looked the same pretty much everynight. In the souk they also have a Sheesha Corner (Fruit Flavoured Tobacco) - give it a go, definately an experience, I have since been advised that you are not supposed to inhale!.

Cafe fresco is a buffet service with different options every night or a standard A La Carte Menu. I would suggest you have a look at whats on offer in the buffet service before you decide between that and the alacarte menu. We found the Alacarte menu the best option and the most reasonably prices.

For 2 people we found meals ranging between LE300 and LE500 per night (£30-£50) including soft drinks or beer (Sakara Egyptian Beer is ok) Wine is expensive costing about LE120 for half a carafe! If you want a bottle of wine that is not Egyptian, expect to pay around LE200-300.

You are asked to reserve a table in advance at the beach house and the souk and the Sala Thai, but they will accomodate you if you dont. We didnt try the Sala Thai. Cafe fresco doenst require a reservation.

The staff at the hotel for the most part speak good english. They are pleasant and professional, I suggest trying to build a little bit of a relationship with a waiter or two as then you get really excellent service.

The 3 pool areas are fantastic with plently of sun loungers and parasols, you can go to cascades for refreshments or flag a waiter and they will bring it to you. The lazy river is very nice and fun! We found it difficult to get a bed at the adults only pool - no problem though as the loungers werent as good! Towels provided upon presentation of your towel card which you are given upon arrival.

The beach is gritty and rocky, we preferred the pool areas.

I recommend a trip to Cairo or Luxor, costing about £175 for a group tour or £30 more for a private tour guide (qualified egyptologist) and car to take you round for the day. I would highly recommend the upgrade as you can do the day at your own pace and see whatever you want to see!

I would also suggest taking a high strength insect repellant, I dont normally suffer from bites and for the first week didnt get any even without the spray. My partner however did suffer until we got the spray out! I only started to get bites after my return from Cairo. Strange!

If you do happen to get travellers tummy there is a clinic at the hotel. This will cost you about £55 to get some antibiotics and also pills to settle the stomach. Many people say take imodium, we were advised not to take that as it stops it but doesnt fix it - good advice! the imodium apparently made the cramps worse, go to the doctor you will be right as rain! I have to say that my partner didnt get upset tummy from the hotel food, but from Naama Bay.

The Ice at the hotel seemed ok to have in your drinks as it is made from water through a filter.

We stayed at the Hyatt between April 18-25th 2005.

Overall we enjoyed our stay there and have come back nice and relaxed. The hotel is set about 5 mins outside Naama bay and about 15 mins from the airport. I booked hotels and flights separately and had transfers arranged prior to leaving, which worked out well.

We arrived at the hotel early evening, and were greeted by friendly staff checking us in - our bags were whisked away using cool golf buggy type vehicles and arrived at our room about 5 mins after.

The room was quite spacious, with a balcony overlooking part of the resort, and a (partial) view of the sea - very nice! Upon arriving at the room though, we had our first dissapointment of the holiday - one of the legs of the bed was broken (bed was 'leaning' to that side). I reported this to reception and someone came up to have a look. They pushed the leg back up and said it was fine, but when the bed pushed back up against the wall, the leg broke again. At this point he said he'd call the maintenance guy, who arrived after about 10 mins, dismantled the leg assembly and banged a few nails against the leg. The bed didn't feel at all that sturdy when it was put back so I called reception asking for the bed to be changed. It took a few phone calls and a conversation with the 'manager', but they managed to change the bed, which was fine thereafter.

It was about 45 mins after we'd got to the room by now, and I'd had a chance to check everything else out in the room. I found the following problems with the room and reported them: Toilet flush not working properly, deck chairs on the balcony filthy (obvioulsy not been used for a while judging by the dust on them), broken light on balcony and TV remote control not working. Not all big problems as such, but not acceptable for a '5 star' hotel. I was a bit wound up at the complacency of the staff when I reported the problems - especially as we'd been travelling and had just got there. 'With Pleasure sir' was the normal response, but whether anything was done about things then and there was another matter! In the end the manager came up and got things sorted out - phew! Not a good start.

The resort itself is very nice. There are 3 big pools - a main one with a Water Slide (very cool), a lazy river pool which has waterfalls with a current that drags you along, and a main Adult pool which is pretty big and quiet. All of the pools have deckchairs around them and each pool has a couple of pool guys that will give you towels in exchange for your towel card tokens, and take your orders for food/drinks etc. Pools are open from 8am-6pm, so no midnight dips as the pools are being cleaned. There is a restaurant called 'Cascades' next to the lazy river pool which has the best lunchtime menu in my opinion (burgers, mixed grills, ice cream etc).

The resort also has a nice beach area with sunbeds dotted around, albeit quite closely packed due to the number of people. The sand is very gritty and not that nice to walk on bare foot, but you get used to it.

There is a restaurant there called the 'beach house', which we didn't try as it was mainly seafood - it was pretty busy though which is always a good sign.

Just behind the beach is the dive centre, where you can rent snorkelling gear or book diving lessons/courses. Staff here were friendly and helpful. They also do a scuba diving intro at 11:30am in the main pool, if you want to see if Scuba diving is really for you. We did a Scuba Diving intro course in the sea, which lasts for about an hour and was great fun. They have a jetty going into the sea which is a good idea, although the first time we went in, my wife and I cut ourselves on the coral below. There is a big sign that says that the hotel is not responsible for any accidents - a lifeguard is only there sometimes.

The resort also has a few tennis/squash courts, and a nice spa which has a big jacuzzi, steam room and sauna (separate male/female) - very relaxing, although the Jacuzzi wasn't all that hot (might explain why it was empty most of the time).

Most of our day at the resort was spent swimming or relaxing by the beach/pool, and our evenings were mostly at Naama Bay (restaurants/shopping/sheesha). We also booked an overnight Excursion to Mount Sinai through the resort centre in the hotel. My wife had a Thai massage from the Spa centre, which she said was wonderful.

The hotel runs a courtesy bus service to Naama Bay and back 3 times during the day, which is a welcome relief from bartering with the taxi drivers all the time. We decided to take the bus back once or twice from Naama Bay and were quite dissapointed one of those times from the service we received. Basically, they only had one bus picking people up, and there were enough people for 2 buses (as is usually the case apparantly). The driver called back to base and told us another bus would be due in about 10 minutes. We waited around for half an hour and 2 cars turned up to pick people up. They took only 8 people with them. At this point everyone waiting was pretty furious at the length of time we were waiting and asked the drivers what was going on. They said they didn't know and called back to base (after getting the hotel phone number from one of the guests). Another bus was sent, which took about 20 mins to get to us.

Once we got back to the hotel, the manager had a lot of upset guests to deal with for the lack of communication and consideration by the hotel. If only they had told us it would take over an hour of waiting to get back, we would have made other arrangements.

Breakfast was varied and catered for every taste - fresh pancakes are definitely worth a try, as are the fresh omelettes. It was hard at times to get the waiters attention to clean the tables/get tea, but I guess they were rushed off their feet with the amount of people there. We ate at the Sala Thai restaurant, which was really nice. We didn't get a chance to try the Souk restaurant.

In my opinion the Hyatt is a 5 star hotel, with 4 Star rooms. I.e. the services offered are 5 Star, but the rooms are comparable to 4 star hotels. They are clean and have all the amenities, but are also showing their age, with broken floor tiles, some services not working or broken (i.e. toilet flush/broken bed/broken shaver point). Rooms also aren't always cleaned when they say they will be - on most of the days, we'd have to call to get someone to clean the rooms - this got a bit frustrating at times, as we'd come back late afternoon wanting to relax/sleep and would have to wait 15 mins for someone to come and service the room, and then would have to wait for them to actually do it.

This will not put me off visiting the hotel again though, but I really do hope the staff can become a little less complacent in their attitude and put a little more effort into improving their service, i.e. do things when they say they will. After all, in a '5 Star Hotel' how many times should one call to get a problem fixed before it actually is? Several times in my experience.

We arrived at night so didn’t see the spectacular view from the hotel lobby. We were given juice while we checked in and our luggage was whisked away. The walk to the room in the dark was very confusing. In the morning we discovered the hotel environs are spectacular with lovely gardens and three largish pools.

Our standard room was very large with a huge bed. I personally found the pillows uncomfortably too soft. The balcony, for the size of room was tiny, and ours was shaded for most of the day. Our sea view was a very thin strip of blue above the building in front. The bathroom was spacious and very well equipped. Although the room was cleaned every day, I would call this very much a flat surface clean only. We’re pretty fussy about bathroom cleanliness and there was a fine film of mould on the shower tiles etc. There was also significant peeling paintwork on the skirting boards where the table and chairs had knocked against this. We also found one of the three telephones didn’t work, and there was a problem with the shaver point, and there were no towels on arrival. All these points were quickly put right by maintenance. The television gives a good range of English language channels.

The staff are very attentive. Perhaps sometimes too much. We like to have a nap in the late afternoon, but between 5-7pm there was a constant stream of staff at the door, wanting to check the minibar, the tea/coffee, night service etc. Even using the privacy button on the door didn't seem to stop them.

We only ate in the souk one night as we found using the bag of tokens for payment a bit of a faff and would rather have paid with real money. The food itself was okay, although I found the portions a bit small. The snack menu in the Stars Bar was better value for money although the variety was limited. The prices of drinks in the hotel are about the same as UK when we travelled but the prices of dinner and drinks are much cheaper in town. I enjoyed the non-alcoholic cocktails in the Stars Bar. There is a pool table that is bookable by the half hour/1 hour rather than coin operated.

We originally went to the adult only pool, but it was too cold to swim in, so used the middle pool from then onwards. Use towel cards to get lounger towels. When we were there, most people were booking their poolside place from 8am onwards then going to breakfast. I usually managed to get one of the last loungers by about 8.30am. This pool is only 1.45m deep so fine if you’re not a confident swimmer. From about 10.30 they do trial scuba dives in the pool that last about 15 mins each and this goes on for about an hour. The bar staff are pretty attentive and will come around at regular intervals to get drink orders.

We had a good time, and would go back for a winter sunshine break, I don’t think I’d want to spend more than a week there. Although if you like hotel-based holidays that consist of just lying around in the sun, it’s got everything you could want.

We arrived by private transfer early evening to a stunning welcome in a fabulous reception. Greeted with complimentary fresh fruit juice with our cases whipped off and placed in our room. Check in was smooth and after being given a map we then got escorted to our room and showed where everything was.

The room was large spacious clean and nicely decorated. Cleaned twice every day with the bed turned down on a night time.

Pools are lovely one being just for adults, beach is great and snorkelling was fabulous although do remember to look up often and check how far out you have gone it's so lovely you can get lost in the beauty and have a long swim back.

Whilst there I had to see a doctor for an infected insect bite. This was a truly tremendous service. With great trepidation I requested an appointment. Within an hour the doctor had called back to asses my symptoms and said he would arrive at the hotel in an hour. In the meantime he arranged for a mosquito repellent to be sent up. The clinic was clean and the doctor pleasant he diagnosed and prescribed medicine and then sent a hotel staff member out to get my prescription. This was all done without fuss and within 30 minutes. Fabulous service.

Restaurants where all great but the Souk is truly fabulous with little bags or gold coins to pay for your food an excellent selection and a very generous pastry chef!

Overall absolutely fabulous.

Just returned from this wonderful hotel staying 7 nights on B+B basis. You know you’re on to a winner when you see the entrance and lobby.

Rooms are lovely and big with a huge bed. Always clean with fresh towels and turned down bed on return from evening out. Great sea view if you book front sea view in top floor room.

Pools are great with one for adults only but if taking kids, one has a slide. The pool area and beach have bar/food area.

The hotel is on one of the main reefs around the resort. Snorkeling and diving are a must and must not be overlooked. It’s a whole new world under the water. But please don't stand on the coral. It may look like old rocks but its nearly all still living and it is easily damaged.

Hotel a bit away from resort centre (which we liked) but just a short hotel bus(free)or taxi ride(£4.50)into town.

Hotel staff great. Always on hand and can't do enough for you.

Breakfasts were good. All the usual fare you would expect. Cereals with fruit, continental and English breakfast(but no bacon). Hotel restaurants ok but on the expensive side. Go into town for evening meals. Much better and about a third the price.(Pomadoros and Mexican bar)sure fire hits with us. Drinks much cheaper in town too.

Evening entertainment ok but not for us. Much preferred to sit in Shisha cafe watching people trying to haggle a sale down.

When we first arrived at the Hyatt Regency, we were all really pleased with our choice of hotel. As you walk through the lobby there is a huge window overlooking the sea, giving magnificent views. Our group consisted of two couples, and we requested two rooms next to each other. The hotel were really accommodating, and brought us free refreshments while we waited for our rooms. The rooms themselves were very spacious with lovely bathrooms. The airconditioning is set by reception, so if you need to alter it ask at the desk. I was a little disappointed with our sea view, and if I were to stay again I would book a sea front room instead. The breakfasts were nice, but it is always busy. The omelette chief is very good! The pools were great, and each pool had a different feature. The private beach has a wonderful reef, and the fish are magnificent - I would recommend this hotel on this feature alone, as we found the fish here better than when went on special snorkelling trips. Drinks were a little expensive in the hotel, and for this reason we spent most evenings in Naama Bay. Also the entertainment isn't great. The hotel provide free shuttle buses into the bay, but if this isnt convienient you can get a local taxi for 20.00LE or a hotel taxi for 50.00LE. On the whole, a great hotel. I would definately visit again - brilliant value for money.

I chose this hotel because I am a fanatical, totally obsesive snorkeller. From the hotel beach the floating jetty leads out onto "The Gardens" reef, which is truly wonderful, lots of different types of coral and many types of fish. Unfortunatly I wonder how long all this beauty will last, I desperatly wanted to learn lots of very bad swear words in different languages so I could tell people to "get off the ******* coral !!!!I saw people standing on the huge blue coral to the left of the jetty wearing fins!others walking on coral outcrops and even people breaking bits off. I saw some brilliant fish life, a massive moray eel, some very friendly napoleons,a couple of blue spotted rays and fish in every colour imaginable,I took over 200 underwater photos and have bored all my friends to death with them. The hotel is great although the food is very expensive compared to other hotels in Sharm, and the booking a table to eat is just a fiasco. The hotel taxis were very expensive and if you wanted to get a taxi from Naama Bay back to the hotel, as soon as the driver found out you were staying at the Hyatt you could see him doing a quick calculation to up his fare! If you are feeling energetic it takes about an hour to walk into town. The staff were polite but lacked the real warmth of the Egyptians. The rooms were great with loads of storage space and the tea and coffee making facilities were much appreciated. The bed was possibly the most comfortable I have ever found in a hotel. The pool complex and gardens of the Hyatt are brilliant and i was very pleased to discover that one pool was for adults only. All the kids I saw were having a brilliant time on the corkscrew water slide, and their fathers were having an even better time on it!!!I can thoroughly recomend this hotel, even with my earlier gripes.

very clean nicely sized rooms ,set in vast area very private and quiet,3pools for regular guests and 1 pool for club members and also private beach and a nice beach for us mere mortals, excellent marine life but the diving can be expensive compared to others.

best thai food in sharm but otherwise nothing super just what you would expect for the price.book through an travel agent or pay a little more if you book direct unless you get an upgrade.

only one problem on the 5star reort was the shamless poolchair reserving they have and it really was upsetting as in busy season the bottom is chilled and child free only problem its the only pool with steps for children all the others are standard depths to deep for under7s

Having stayed in the Hilton Sharks Bay the year before we decided to go back to Sharm but try the Hyatt Regency as this was nearer to the resort centre.

Upon arrival we unpacked and decided to eat in the hotel even though we had only booked B&B, as we were tired and weary. We waited 30 minutes in the restaurant before we received our drinks, we then waited another 30 minutes and our soup had still not arrived. We asked where it was and were told it was on its way. Considering the restaurant was nearly empty we could not understand what was taking so long. We waited another 5 minutes and left!

We went back to our room and could not open the door so we had to go back to reception and let them know. One of the staff tried to open our door but to no avail so he left us while he went to find a maintenance man. When he finally arrived he couldn't get in the room either and had to take the door handle off. Meanwhile our food had arrived in the stairwell and we didn't know whether to laugh or cry so we went to the bar and were offered a free drink.

This was just the start..... whenever we ate in the Cascade bar, the Souk or the Beach bar we seemed to become invisible. We'd sit down and wait to be served or even given a menu but people coming in after us were lorded over and we were ignored! In the end we used to stand at the bar and ask for our drinks instead of waiting for the staff to bring them over and dying of thirst. The staff work very hard but they seem to be clueless.

When we went to the Souk we waited for our table to be cleared after our starters and after half an hour we put our dirty plates in a plant pot! I was not even given a finger bowl for the prawns so had to try and use the napkin. In the end we complained to the Manager who seemed equally as clueless.

Breakfast was a shambles. You have to sit and wait to be seated and the staff didn't seem to know what they were doing so you could stand there for 10 minutes before you saw a member of staff. The chef on the breakfast bar cooking the omelette's was on his own so you had to queue for 20 minutes before you got served. The bread is laid out on the same station as the chef cooking the eggs so you are constantly getting shoved around by people trying to get to the bread, rolls and cakes.

We only found the lift at the end of the holiday which takes you down to the pool and the underground tunnel which takes you to the beach as this was not pointed out anywhere.

Our mini bar was filled up every day but they never put any tonic water in it so we had to keep ringing room service to replenish it.

I think the hotel looks wonderful and the pools and the layout of the hotel were perfect, but they seem to have a fantastic hotel but don't really know how to market it. I personally would go back to the Hilton as the beach was better laid out, the snorkelling was fantastic and the food and staff were wonderful.

The Hyatt is lovely if you like to sit by the pool all day and is nearer the town for access in the evening, but all in all we were very disappointed!!!
