The location was probably about as far away from civilisation that you could get, everything was a long walk into the centre along dark narrow streets.

There was no entertainment to speak of, and children were allowed in the bar so there was no chance of a quiet drink either.

I would not visit this hotel again and was in fact glad to be going home.

There were cockroaches in our apartment so we had to be careful not to leave food out.

Having read very mixed reviews about this hotel we decided to book anyway. Unfortunately the bad reviews read turned out to be our experiences also. We booked a one bedroomed apartment as I was travelling with my mother and son (aged 8). When we arrived at the hotel complex it looked reasonable from the outside, the view over the bay to Lanzarote was lovely. Our problems started with the ants - they seemed to know the minute we'd arrived and marched into the apartment in columns of 5 or 6, finding their way into our clothes in the drawers, and they bit like mad. We complained to the rep and to the hotel's credit within 30 minutes of complaining our apartment was sprayed with insecticide and a can of spray left with us. Having now heard that other guests were having problems with cockroaches also we decided that it was probably a good thing that they did! The kitchen in the apartment was better than some other apartments we have been to and even included a coffee maker, although some items were missing - only one cereal bowl for an apartment that was meant for 4.

The bedroom in the apartment was reasonable. The beds were comfortable and sheets clean - which was more that could be said for the rest of the apartment. The "sofa bed" in the lounge turned out to be a 3 inch thick slab of poor quality foam placed directly on a hardboard base. The coverings of the sofa were ripped and stained and didn't fit the foam. The bathroom looked as though it had not seen a mop for quite some time. If we mopped up any splashes from the shower with it you could actually see how dirty the floor was. There were cleaners in the hotel and we actually saw how little they do when we arrived back at our apartment just as they had arrived. They emptied bins, made beds and just swept floors - no mops were used at any time. Towels were changed but to be honest the towels had seen better days and looked dirty as they were so old.

Entertainment at the hotel was poorly attended during our stay (it got better with a new influx of guests mid week) and one night there were only 5 of us (2 of which were playing table tennis). The entertainment was of a poor standard, although on our last night there was a good lady singer (sorry, forgotten her name). I have to say that I felt that the entertainment started too late at 10.00 p.m. as there were lots of families with young children and if perhaps it had started at say 9.00 p.m. they may have had more of an audience.

The location of the hotel was OK - we just booked for a quiet week away and didn't want to be in the main drag so the 15 minute walk to the harbour was ideal for us. The rep suggested a walk which was quicker than following the coast road but it involved quite a few little streets that were lined with smelly litter bins and piles of dog poo so we walked the long way round.

The pool area was kept very tidy but the pools were absolutely freezing, even though the weather was glorious. There is no shade at all around the pool as umberellas are non-existent but beds were in good supply.

I wouldn't say that we had a disasterous holiday - except for the money we paid I would have expected much more. I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone simply because I think it's overpriced and could do with a good clean and the apartments could do with renovating as they have become very very shabby. The public rooms in the hotel were fine.

The enjoyment of this hotel will be totally dependant on what room you get, if you get a high floor sea or pool view it will be great, if like us you get a low floor and the back of the hotel it will be OK.

My room was small and basic, cleanish, we did intend to eat in the room some nights to save a bit of money but we suffered from ants, they would not appear until food was around so we decided to eat in the room which was disappointing.

The pool area was nice but very busy, I felt like we on top of each other.

The location has it's good points and bad points, the good thing is that it is in the old town near the harbour, the bad points is that as local people live there as well you get the rubbuish of a town, i particually noticed a lot of dog poo around the area, also apart from the sea one side of the hotel looks over an abadoned building.

I don't regret staying at this hotel but would not stay here again unless I am guaranteed once of the better rooms.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of July beginning of August 2006. We are a family of 5 so we had a 2 bed apartment which was on the top floor. The apartment itself was OK and the bedrooms fairly spacious, although the kitchen area was very small to actually do much in. We act a huge balcony, almost a roof terrace really with a sunbed on it too it was lovely, the only problem was it was so windy in the evenings it made it impossible to sit out on so we didn't get as much use of the balcony as we would have liked.

As has been said before the pool is very cold but you soon get used to it and the children don't seem to mind at all. Like most hotels you have to get up at the crack of dawn to get your towels on sunbeds otherwise they will all be gone by the time you get to the pool.

We didn't eat at this hotel so I can't comment on the food but we did go to a couple of their entertainment shows - a reptile show and parrott show which the children thought were great.

My only real disappointment with this hotel was the location. It overlooks wasteland on one side and buildings at the back so not that an attractive view for us anyway. As has been said the local dogs do use the streets as their toilets and this is not pleasant when walking from the hotel to the main street.

My parents stayed at this hotel and had a brilliant time. They describe it as being spotlessly clean with very friendly and helpful staff. They arrived at 730pm and after collecting their key from reception went to find their apt no.270. Having got a little lost,a passing pool attendant looked at their key, picked up their bags and led them to their apartment. He would not accept any tip,and always spoke to them throughout their stay.It became a little chilly at night time and when asked for blankets, they were provided within 10 minutes.Their apartment had a fab view of the bay,the pool was immaculately kept and again very very clean. They did not have any food at the hotel , although other guests did say it was quite good.

We arrived at Bristol playa knowing that this hotel had been renovated a few years ago. Very nice.

Only problem was we'd booked two rooms one for us and one for our two teenage daughters, we were informed on arrival that due to a burst we would have to share a room and be moved in a couple of days, other people were given breakfast as compesation but we'd already paid for it and were given a safe key as compo.

After woking out how much we'd spent on bookig two rooms and paying under occupancy we were out of pocket by over 500 pounds.

We brought this to the attention of the hotel staff who said that they would move us as soon as the rooms were ready which would have been half way through our holiday.

We said no there was no point packing again and unpacking with only a week left, there was no refund for breakfast and we shopuld be glad they gave us a safe for free.

Holidays are not cheap to start with.
We managed as we had a great view of Lobos and Lanzarote, thomas cook helped us out in the end and amended our booking giving us some cash back and some vouchers, so all was not lost.

We couldn't fault the complex it was so clean and to be fair the staff were very friendly, we did,nt complain or get aggrivated at the situation and they eventually realised that we were a nice family and could hear us comming miles off they used to say the armstrongs are comming and we did have some good fun with them.

The shop was pretty well stocked and is in a good location just in the older part of town which is a nice walk in the evening through the back streets.

I have recomended this hotel to others and having stayed in Fuerteventura many times I would stay here again.

We arrived after dark to the hotel and were put in a room overlooking a noisy road (after asking for a sea view!) Initially, the room looked basic, but clean, however on closer inspection, we found the living area was crawling with ants! After phoning reception, a cleaner came within 20 minutes and sprayed ant killer everywhere, which was fine.

We found the road didn't get any quieter throughout the night, in fact bin lorries were collecting from 4.30am, so we didn't get much sleep!

The pool area was nice, pools were freezing - but we expected that in November. There were plenty of sunloungers. The poolside bar served good snacks during the day and the supermarket was well stocked.

The 'evening entertainment' was non-existent, it seemed that the whole place shut down after 5.30! It was also a little way from the town centre, which we didn't feel comfortable walking at night, so would advise anyone to bring plenty of books!

Over the next 2 days of our holiday, the ants returned several times, in the end, the maid left us a can of ant killer in the room! On the 3rd day it started to rain heavily and when we returned to the room, we were greeted by cockroaches!

After demanding to be moved, we were put in a room the other side of the hotel, which again had ants, but this time stunk of sewage as well! (We did finally have a sea view though!) After finding another massive cockroach by the pool, we decided to pay to move hotels and spent the last part of our holiday in the lovely Hotel Atlantis Palace - which we will definitely be returning to, unlike the Bristol Playa Apartments!

This hotel is one of the best we have stayed in. Upon arrival our room was very clean and was kept this way with cleaners coming 5 times a week, towels being changed 3 times a week and bed linen twice a week. The pool area is also kept extremely clean and tidy, along with the reception area and bar areas.

The hotel is located in the spanish area of the resort where many locals live. You could walk to the main street either through the back streets, or along the harbour which was a lovely walk with great views over to Lanzarote and Lobos. There is a supermarket just across the road called Vivo but for main supplies it is best to go to the big supermarket called HiperDino which is where the locals use - it is very cheap and sells everything you could possibly need.

The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly. All reception staff were helpful and could speak excellent english. The bar staff were also good but could take a little while to get served if busy - be sure to try the cocktails in the hotel bar especially the zombie!!!

The entertainment at the hotel was OK. There is nothing on a Wednesday but every other night there is either a live singer or a karaoke night. May not be to everyones taste - if not there are plenty of bars in the main street which provide entertainment.

The only issue with the hotel was sometimes there was a smell of sewage if the wind was in the right direction or if you walked past what seemed to be the treatment plant near the front of the hotel. However it wasn't a major problem and we never smelt it during the day whilst sunbathing around the pool.

A couple of other things I have to mention - I highly recommend you visit Olivia Beach - only 1 euro per person each way on the number 6 bus or 5 euro 50 taxi ride - well worth it the best beach I have ever seen and the sand dunes are amazing. The beaches along the harbour are nothing compared to this beach.

Also if you get the chance to go on the Catlanza excursion it is well worth it. You catch a catamaran from the harbour and moor off the coast of Lanzarote. Here you can snorkel and swim and also get the chance of a jet ski ride. It was 61 euros each and the jet ski was free along with all snorkling equipment, a meal and as much drink alcholic and non as you wanted. We even spotted a dolphin on the way over to Lanzarote.

Overall this was an excellent holiday with excellent accomadation and we would not hesitate in returning!

After a 10 hr flight delay arrived at 1.00 am we were given key to room 168 overlooking pool.

Horrendous smell of sewage awaited us and requested a change of room and was told nothing could be done until morning at 9.00. The following day, room was changed to number 300 on third floor no smell and fantastic sea view. From the balcony we could see Lanzarote on a clear morning.

Hotel staff friendly, rooms clean, all mod cons, toaster, kettle, microwave etc. Entertainment ok singers in bar most nights not our cup of tea so went into town every night

I have to be honest, this is the cleanest, best maintained hotel I have ever stayed in. The public areas, ie the bars, pool area and reception where spotless. The rooms where cleaned everday, linen changed three times while I was there.

Self catering apartments consist of a large balcony (ours overlooked the Atlantic) leading through to a spacious living, sofa, dining table, t.v. and small but well equipped kitchen, 2 ring hob, microwave, kettle toaster and fridge, very adequate. Next was the bathroom with bath, shower, bidet and a constant supply of toilet roll, which is something I am used to having to buy. The bedroom is large with a double bed, 2 fitted wardrobe and a safety deposit box, €5 deposit and €3 per day.

There are three interlinking pools at the centre of the complex with a small bar selling alcohol and snacks. This bar closes about 8 pm and the main bar then opens. There is entertainment every night. If like me, you need to keep a check on your e-mails, there is a PC in the foyer, €3 for 15 mins.

There is also a small supermarket and a launderette if you should need one. The kids club seemed quite popular and the girl in charge (Gemma i think) has a wonderful way with children. There is a childrens playground and a tennis court too.

All the staff from the barstaff, cleaners and reception staff where fantastic, polite, well dressed and ever helpful.

My only complaint would be the occassional smell of sewerage whilst sitting on the balcony, but then, nowhere is perfect.

One final word, Lorraine the Sunworld rep is world class and a credit to sunworld.

I have already booked my holiday back to this hotel in November. Following discussion with some friends about the Bristol Playa, they have booked for September.

The hotel is spotless, rooms well equipped, and the views second to none. Beautiful walk to Corralejo from the apartment via the sea front.

I have been to corralejo loads of times and can honestly say that this was the best accomadation ever.

Well done Hesperia Bristol Playa.

Clean apartment with a nice view out to sea. Unfortunately, when you are sitting on the balcony, a smell of sewage hits you occasionally if the wind is in the right direction. You can't smell this anywhere else on the complex, just at the back.

Reception staff very pleasant and helpful.

Unfortunately, the weather during our 7 night stay was awful, very unusual for February in the Canaries!

On arrival at Bristol Playa we found the rooms were very clean, although the room were a little cramped for 3 adults. There were 15 of us in our group, taking 5 one bedroom apartments.

The pools were of course freezing, and there were plenty of sunloungers to go around.

We had booked 5 quiet rooms and they put us near the bar area, this did not matter in the end, as what entertainment we heard was not to our tastes so we were out every evening.

We had a great time in block I with a sea view.

All the staff were very friendly and the rooms are cleaned every day except Friday and Sunday. The apartment had everything we needed (toaster, fridge, microwave, coffee perculator, hotplates)and was in excellent order, and nice childrens play area and entertainer.

It is in the Spanish part of town, away from all the other hotels and typical tourist shops which suited us - no hassles and great local restaurants (Avenida - get there before 7pm or prepare to queue and Avelino at end of road towards harbour).

Lovely walk to the harbour past the surfers and the local octopus diver (10 mins). The town beach with sand sculptures was sheltered from the wind by old harbour wall(20 min).

Hiperdino supermarket (5 mins) up road past Jive Bunnys, on right past windmill. Bus station going everywhere close by too.

found very good approximately 10 mins walk to the
harbour and main shopping area, large supermarket 5
mins from hotel,Small sandy beach with sun beds, sun
shades and a bar/restaurant approximately 25 mins walk. The main beach Flag Beach was a good 45mins walk or a 5 euro taxi ride. The only drawback would be if you have small children the beaches are a little way from the hotel.

We had one of our best holidays in feutaventura
the hotel was great and we would certainly stay again
the pool area is fantastic with different pool depths to suit all swiming abilities.

the hotel was spotless and our room was spacious but we would have loved a room overlooking the pool.
the hotel was just a 5-10 minute walk along a lovely but windy sea path,or you could walk though the streets for a more sheltered walk.

Entertainment was a bit disapointing though but the bar had a great atmosphere if you just fancy a quiet night,
The hotel has a great little mini shop which has all the neccessities milk, bread, english newspapers etc..

The hotel backs onto a little beach which has large rock pools for the kids to spend hours hunting crabs &
fish its great to go over for a break from the heat of the pool.

I was a bit dubious - thanks to the many films on how bad holiday places can be. But when we got here to surf this windy rock, my friend and I were very pleasantly surprised.

The room was clean and well furnished for two messy surfers. It was exactly what I wanted to see. We even had a working TV.

The hotel was the best bit about the whole place.

The rental car was rubbish, the surf was poor and Corralejo was not as stacked with single women as I had hoped.

To top it all off the hotel staff were great and Jorge even lent us ten euros to get a taxi back. Now tell me another place as cheerful as this that will go to this extent. Most certainly the best bit about the whole island. (Though we did not eat in the place)

This was without doubt the worse All Inclusive holiday I went on.

We arrived at this hotel seemed great on the outside prob the best looking hotel in the area. Then we got in our room it smelt terrible, the furniture was ancient, and almost every item was broken. We slept on urine smelling matresses when we asked for a new room they said "none available you must wait" but it never come. The swimming pool was packed and the entertainment was diabolical.

I spent two weeks lying on a urine matress with a broken cutain rail and dirty windows. Ants everywhere climbing up the kitchen surfaces!

Food was good but you had to be there at certain times or you had nothing they had nothing going throughout the day in case you got hungry.

Overall terrible!
