| said: The apartments are set in a great location at the top of a steep but short driveway - anyone with a reasonable level of fitness should have no problems it was not half as bad as we had expected after reading reviews.
Been at the top of the hill you get a great view of the bay & seeing the sunset from the balcony was lovely.
The studios are basic but clean with a fridge, kettle toaster & stove for the amount of time we spent in there it was more than adequate. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis with frequent changes of linen & towels.
There is a large pool area with plenty of sunbeds & the pool bar serves very good food at reasonable prices to keep you going through the day & the staff are very friendly & more than happy to help if you have any problems.
The apartments are only a five minute walk from the town with all it's restaurants & bars.
Would definately go back again.

| said: Hello to Maria and Marco. Colin and I stayed in the apartments for 2 weeks in September and had a great time. The location of the apartments are excellent and the sunsets seen from the balcony are amazing. The pool is excellent with plenty of sun beds and the pool area gets the sun all day long. During the day Maria looks after the bar and is the perfect host plays some really good greek relaxing music. In the evening Marco takes over and he is a great host and the evening music is also great (Keane). The pool bar meals are really good value for money and the bacon and eggs on toast are just perfect.
Colin and myself had a great relaxing holiday at the apartments and the air cond was well worth the money as the temps in September were still in the 90.
This was our first time in Rhodes and would like to return to the apartments but unfortunately First Choice are no longer doing these apartments.
The village of Pefkos is soooooooooooo lovely and we never had a bad meal . We chose a diffrent place to eat every night and enjoyed every meal.
We hope to return to Karpathious in 2007.

| said: We had two fabulous weeks at the Karpathios, the studios are very basic and yes some days the shower was just a trickle and the hill was a bit steep but for a 2/3 star accommodation it was great and excellent value for money.
The pool is gorgeous and the rooms were cleaned and there were fresh sheets and towels on a regular basis. Maria and Marco and the rest of the staff were brilliant, Greek night was a fantastic experience lots of dancing and a lovely BBQ lots of Ouzo and loads of OPA.
Karaoke on a Tuesday is great fun if there is a good crowd like we had. the food at the Karpathios is really really good I think we had Gyros for breakfast every day for 2 weeks (my jeans can tell).
Yes the rooms can be a bit stuffy but we already had a fan in our room on arrival and air con is available on request all you have to do is ask.
One thing I recommend is if you are a late departure don't pay the 25 euros to keep your room as they have a really large room at the side of the pool bar you can get showered and changed in and its very secure, and guess what, yes it has the hottest most powerful shower we've had in 2 weeks I wished I knew it was there before but never mind we had a fantastic time and my daughter Skye bought presents for Maria and Marco and she actually cried when we left.
We try not to go to the same Island twice but I would go here again.

| said: We have just returned from spending 2 weeks at the appartments, it was our first time staying in Rhodes and we weren't disappointed.
The appartments, although basic, have everything you need, although it was nice to return home and actually get a power shower! At peak times only a trickle comes out of the showers! The location of the apprtments is central, the hill was quite a chore but we looked at it as our workout after eating so much of the gorgeous food!!!
The staff made the holiday, Marco, Maria, Tani, Jimmie and Eddie. They can't do enough for you to make you feel welcome, we spent most nights in the pool bar and midnight swimming with them!!
We'd definately go back, although we've heard First Choice aren't going to cover the appartments next year. Brilliant holiday!

Who makes our stay at the studios such a friendly one, also nice to see Jimmie, Tani, Mondi, having a laugh round the pool.
Only problem this time was the showers, but all in all but no complaints.
Again met some nice people, but shame Greek night was cancelled due to lack of people staying at the apartments.
The hill at these apartments are steep, but with the steps added this year it made it a lot easier to walk up.

| said: On arrival at 4am - there was no water to wash in, no air con, no toilet roll and the beds were full of red ants! There was no receptionist or member of staff to help with any of the situations, first choice had part time staff to transfer you from the airport who had no means of sorting out any of the problems. One couple didn't even have a room allocated!
On the flip side - the staff at the apartments are nice and friendly. The food served at the pool side is fine.
There is an almost 45 degree hill to climb to get to the apartments, which seemed to bother anyone I spoke to. When the air is 40 degrees in the shade you cant get breath up that hill - a big NO NO for anyone with walking difficulties.
We were asked to check out at midday, however the cleaners didn't do our room until midnight??? so why make people wait in that heat was very strange and frustrating.
When the first choice rep was asked simple questions - the only reply I got was 'have you read my information board'?
If all you want to do is drink, lay in the sun, drink, lay in the sun and nearly do yourself a mischief on that hill and not worry about washing or ants in your bed, then it's fine!

The hill up to our rooms was steep but short. My wife and I have had worse hills in Pefkos. The site itself was small and compact with really splendid pool.
Our room was on the front, ground level, at first we pulled a face, but we soon got used to it. Free fan for these rooms, which was a boon.
Staff very friendly, what a smile from our hostess. Down side the rep who met us at the airport, at 6-30 in the morning saw us off the bus then left us to find the rooms ourselves.
Great place, great site, great holiday.

| said: We have literally come back today from two fabulous weeks staying at the Karpathios Apartments in Pefkos, Rhodes. The weather was fantastic though the air conditioning a must for a good night's sleep!
The rooms were small and basic but more than adequate. There is a wide selection of restaurants and bars offering a good choice.
The beach is a short walk away but to be honest, when we weren't out and about on trips etc, we ended up spending a lot of time at the pool. Mary (aka Maria) who runs the pool bar during the daytime was fantastic - very friendly, always had a lovely smile and always more than willing to help if needed. Marco equally was great fun in the evening as he ran the bar from 5pm til late. The food during the day was good quality and they have quite a range.
They have a kareoke night on a Tuesday and a Greek barbecue on a Thursday/Sunday. The barbecue offers the opportunity of experiencing some lovely Greek food, music and best of all dancing, with Maria, Marco and the rest of the gang putting on quite a show. It isn't long though until the audience is encouraged to join in - which was immensely good fun!
We loved it and are hoping to go back again. The occasional lack of water (which was not just in the apartments but also in the surrounding villages) was a bit of a pain but the views and the staff more than made up for it.
I would recommend it.

When I saw the rooms I was shocked at how basic they were, especially as I had my 70 year old mother and her twin sister in the room next door. It was clean and regular linen and towel changes occurred.
The location gave fantastic views over Pefkos and the sea.
Although the drive was steep you took your time and could sit down on the way up, also a pint of cold Ampstel was always waiting!
Maria did not stop smiling and Marco and Eddy were always cheery and good company.
The food was excellent and reasonably priced, and the pool was lovely.
Tannie and Jimmy provided the entertainment with their antics around the pool, overall if you want a really laid back holiday with hot weather Karpathios apartments are ideal, definitely shall return even with 2 x 70 year olds.

Very clean and tidy rooms were cleaned every day except sundays.
Although self catering the bar food that they served was great and more than enough to keep you going until dinner.
Although the apartments are on a steep hill, the location was excellent and everything was within a 5 min walking distance. The staff at the karpathios are great Maria and Marco the bar staff are really friendly and a good laugh. I would definatly go back there again as we met loads of great people and the place was EXCELLENT!!!!

| said: This is the first time I have been to Greece and was not entirely sure what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised with the Karpathios apartments.
Although I agree that the hill up to the studios can be a bit daunting, and certainly not suitable for those with walking difficulties, the views are fabulous.
The studio itself was clean but basic. The size was sufficient for myself and my 8 year old daughter. Bed linen and towels are provided and the bedding was changed 4 times during our stay. Our studio had the 2 single mattresses on the platform; large wardrobe with storage area under, but no drawers, so everything had to be either hung or piled up; fridge; 2 ring small hotplate; kettle; toaster; cutlery & crockery.
There are so many places to eat nearby, and reasonably cheaply, that having sparse cooking facilities really didn't matter - and the bar does serve food until around 5pm - burgers with chips, salads, pizzas, chicken kebabs. (Crisps, ice cream and drinks always available). Maria was very kind and helpful and Marco great fun - my daughter adored them both and Marco always had time for a joke with her which made her day!
The pool was very clean with ample loungers, tables and parasols and with spectacular views across the village of Pefkos to the sea.
There were a few ants and wasps around, which is only to be expected, but we never saw one dreaded mosquito - possibly because of the searing heat.
For anyone happy not to have full hotel services or expect hotel standards then I would certainly recommend the Karpathios Studios. We will be going back!!

The room had everything we needed, and a stunning view.
The room was cleaned every day and kept very well.
The bar food was very good, and reasonably priced, as were the drinks.
Location-wise, it was on a hill but it didn't bother us, as we jumped straight into the pool after every climb!
The staff.... what can I say...... they were excellent, extremely friendly, helpful, kind and were always willing to help and have fun!
The entertainment was good also, with two locals (Danny and Jimmy) always up for a game of football or water polo. Top marks!!

Finally got in and the room was very basic and not very clean. The hotel staff were very friendly.
Entertainment..... what entertainment? there was not entertainment what so ever, but the studios was not very far from the restaurants and pubs.
I recommend the eclipse bar.
I would not recommend this accommodation to anyone.

| said: This was the best holiday I've ever been on.
The only one where all the people socialised and got on together rather than walking around and pretending your the only person there. Definantly a holiday to remember.
That steep hill was a big shock when we arrived but we were pre-warned in our holiday brochure.
The rooms were basic but very nice considering that I hadn't payed for a 5 star hotel. There was air con available but we opted for a fan, meaning we were still warm which we expected as we were abroad.
The food and drink at the bar was good(especially the cocktails, as i discovered on the Karaoke Night)
Marco, maria and mondi made the holiday very nice and even had us up dancing on the bar at midnight and doing a conga line around the pool with the lilo's.
I would definitely go back again and I know many others will as well.

| said: We've just returned from our second 2 week holiday at the Karpathios apartments. It was just as wonderful as last time, if not better as we received a lovely welcome from all the staff who remembered us from last time.
The accomodation is basic but clean and functional. We requested an upper room this time with a balcony, and we did find it was cooler, however there is the bonus of the lovely wee terraces for the lower rooms.
The pool area is fantastic and offers fantastic views across Pefkos. The snack bar offers fantastic food all day and is very inexpensive.
The biggest bonus of the Karpathios studios is the warm friendly atmosphere. Maria and Marco are so kind and helpful and there is a really warm family fun feel about the place which keeps people going back!

| said: Just come back from a fortnight at the Karpathios and I have to say it was the best holiday I've ever had.
After a nightmare delay into Rhodes, I arrived at the apartments around 7am with my boyfriend. While we knew about the hill up to Karpathios, it was a bit of a shock dragging your cases up and would be awful if you weren't expecting it! But, believe me, by the end of the holiday you'll have legs of steel and will be running up it!
The rooms are small but they're clean and have everything you could need for self-catering, including new toaster and kettle.
Even though we were there in May, it did get very very hot. Luckily our room never got too stuffy but you can get air-con if you need it. The rooms we were in had a giant shared terrace instead of balcony. I've never had that before but it was great. It was lovely to sit out in the evening and you had fantastic views across the sea.
The best thing by far about Karpathios was the stunning pool and the snack bar. The pool area was never crowded and you could get really good food all day. Maria and Marcos, the day and night bar staff, were very nice and great fun. Everyone was lovely and we made some good friends just by chatting to them round the pool.
The apartments are just at the top of the strip with all the bars and restaurants so it's in a cracking location.
The only downside would be that there's no safety-deposit box at the apartments, but they do recommend somewhere a few minutes walk away so it's not a problem really. After two weeks there, neither me or my boyfriend wanted to come home and we would definitely go back to Karthpathios if we went to Rhodes again.

We were absolutely shocked at the accomodation offered at the Karpathios apartments. The apartment could barely accomodate 2 adults let alone 3.
We had to be moved to other accomodation in Pefkos at our expense, and if it had not been for our rep Louise I don't know what we would have done.
We will never travel with First Choice Holidays again and will certainly not go to the Karpathios apartments again.

Also the balconies, seating areas outside are nice and offer great views of Pekfos and the sea. There is also a lovely breeze off the sea when the temperatures gets too hot.
The pool and bar area is what makes these apartments and it is worth staying in the basic room for this reason alone.
The food is excellent, the pool is excellent, the bar is open from 9 till about twelve (or later) every day. It never got too busy while were there even though we went at the height of the season.
The air conditioning at 50 euros (plus 10 deposit) is recommended for a good night's sleep.

The rooms were basic and clean, and thank goodness for the air conditioning.
The food was spot on there was no fault with the food.
The staff Maria and Marco and not forgetting monde made you feel so much at home it does make you want to stay.
We were there for only the one week, the only down side to the accommodation was the hill (not suitable for people with difficulties walking)which we were not told about.
We arrived on the early Thursday morning to have a bbq on the Thursday night which was fantastic and the Greek dancing was a scream.

The accomodation was very basic, but clean and comfortable. They have recently had air conditioning fitted in all rooms, at a supplement, but well worth it!
The Pool area is stunning and never overcrowded. The resort is situated up a steep hill (definately not suitable for those with walking difficulties) but this gives it stunning views and means the pool area isn't used by lots of others from different apartments.
The Snack bar provided great food and drinks and the staff were the best part of the holiday. Maria and Marco were so cheerful and helpful.
The Karpathios had a really warm and friendly atmosphere and we cant wait to go back.

Food is available from 9am to 5pm. The food could not be faulted at all.
The room was basic, but we only used it for washing and sleeping, but although quite small very clean, air conditioning is available.
The location of the hotel was perfect, with lovely views, there is a steep hill but don’t let that put you off, it’s worth it in the end.
The staff are brilliant, Mary will serve you from 9 till 5 and she is lovely. And Marco will entertain you from 5 onwards, really lovely people, in fact we still keep in contact.
They have music all day Mary plays traditional Greek and Marco likes today’s music (English variations). On Tuesdays they have a karaoke and Thursdays they have a barbeque, with Greek dancing which is very entertaining.
Overall holiday perfect for a couple my husband and I are both 39.

Staff were friendly and accommodating. We suffered a slight ant infestation but informed staff immediately and it was sorted.
The apartment was very basic but sufficient and clean. We only slept there at night. When we eventually went to bed as it was lovely just sitting outside in the evening.
We spent every other day, all day by the pool and only left for day trips and evening meals.
Local restaurants were good value and wide ranging from basic to fine meals.
We booked our own day trips which worked out cheaper than those run by the tour operators. They were good value for money and the coaches were air conditioned.
The local beach was beautiful.
We will definitely revisit.

| said: Karpathios Studis (aka Bedrock). These studios are situated at the end of the main strip up an almost vertical hill where taxis and coaches will not go.
I had to pull my (heavy) suitcase up the said hill at around 6:00 in the morning, not a good start.
I had studio (no 6) on the ground floor on the end nearest pool. It was minute in size and the hottest place on earth, there was only one fan to keep you cool. There was a wooden platform with 2 single mattresses, a sink which had a a wall mounted small wooden dresser housing plates etc, above it, a small worktop area with an electric hotplate and a fridge.
The worktop had ants all over it and which were also in the beds. The bathroom was stone floored with a hand held shower, in the same unit there was also the wc and a hand wash basin.
The wc cistern leaked the whole week I was there resuling in a permanent flood in the bathroom as there was only a small drain in the centre of the floor. I reported the wc leak on my first morning to the girl at the pool bar and a cleaner then came to take a look at it but her response to me was "I no speak English".
I spent very little time in the studio but one other thing to note also was lack of privacy. There was a small window at the front of the studio and as this overlooked the outside terrace type areas i.e. a stone table and two stone benches the people sitting out at the benches could see right into the room which made getting dressed very difficult.
On my last morning I also noticed the bed sheet was mouldy. Would I stay at these studios again? the answer NO.

Ran out of water a few times, the hire of a simple fan was highly priced and the rooms were the smallest we have ever stayed in. Towels and sheets not changed regularly enough considering the heat!
Emma got an ear infection in both ears, myself in one ear and at least 2 other guests were suffering the same - apparently not enough chlorine in the pool to keep it clean enough according to the rep! (Who didn't seem to care, I might add....)
Apart from that a great holiday and the very steep driveway certainly gives your legs a workout!

| said: The Karpathios Studios are situated backing onto the mountain at the back of Pefkos. They're right on the edge of the town, but far enough away to only hear occasional traffic noise (mopeds!). The driveway is very steep, but is good exercise after all the food and booze! We had a room on the top floor, so the breeze could blow right through. Some of the ground floor appartments had no rear windows at all. The apartments are quite small and can be stuffy at night and a fan can be hired for 30 Euros per week (a bit steep, like the driveway!). The pool area is lovely and the view from it is beautiful - right out over the bay. The staff were generally friendly and helpful.
The only real problem we had was a repeated lack of hot water in the early evening when every one wants to shower. This was always resolved after reporting it to the staff at the bar, but was quite irritating when we wanted to shower quickly to go out to eat. Everyone in the apartments experienced the same problem. We weren't sure if they were on a water meter or something and were trying to be 'economical'! Anyway, that's what it seemed like.
The best place we found to eat was Sophia's, which is situated on the edge of town on the Lardos road. Cracking good authentic Greek food and service from Sarandos, who really makes everyone feel welcome and special. We're going back to see him again in September (but not to the Karpathios). By the way the apartments lose the sun behind the mountain around 6.30 in June, which was a welcome relief from the heat, but I don't think it would be a good place to stay in the cooler months when the sun sets earlier in the evening.

| said: Whilst the rooms were clean (purely in the clinical sense) they were hot, stuffy and lacked any real means of ventilation except a small fan. It was impossible to get to sleep because of the heat until the early hours of the morning.
Particurlarly On the ground floor, the shower room is a sealed box which contains the shower, toilet and wash hand basin. After showering it is like a sauna with only a small inadequate fan providing ventilation. I understand from speaking to other guests that the situation is not much better on other floors.
However, that aside, the pool is fantastic, the staff are friendly, and the poolside snack bar provides a good selection of good value food.
The views are also fantastic, and you get an occassional welcome breeze from being on the hill.
If only the rooms were better.

| said: The apartment block was very pleasant with spectacular views of the resort. The rooms were spootless and cleaned daily. The poolside bar offered an excellent selection of reasonably priced Greek food as well as the usual holiday fare. The staff were extremely friendly and helped make our holiday a special one. The evenings where entertainment was provided were great and full of fun. We plan on going back there next year. The climb up the hill is a bit of a struggle, but worth it in the end.
