| said: From the reception area it looks like a very nice hotel. However the exterior is looking pretty run down, paint work faded and flaking. Very slow check in. No one to assist with bags.
We were put in a bungalow close to the pool. From the moment you walked in the smell was terrible. Smelt damp and as if cats had been using it. The air conditioning is not air con, it is a central fan system which runs around the complex. Being at the end of the row of bungalows consequently the room had smelly warm air being blown in. In addition the water was also at the end of the line and almost impossible to get pressure to shower. The bathroom had black mould between all the tiles and looked very shabby. The garden was tatty and unkept. The place is very compact and getting a sunbed is difficult unless you get up at the crack of dawn.
Overall the area around the hotel is not the best. Little things like the roundabouts, sides of the road not well kept, weeds etc. After a horrendous nights sleep and the staff unable to resolve the air con, lack of water, etc, we checked out. This does not represent the RIU Group as I have stayed in their hotels in other areas of the world. 2 star at best. Will not be using the RIU in the future when they put their name to this resort.

So happy i booked here on arrival you were given a glass of champagne when checking in then your bags were taken to your room by the porter felt like royality!!
We booked a bungalow what a excellent choice it was right at the side of the pool couldnt ask for more the rooms had everything you needed, they were cleaned everyday and fresh towels were left for you, the hotel also provides towels for the beach or pool which you can get changed everyday!
Cant comment on the food as we were self catering so we ate out everynight!
Will be going back to this hotel again as the location is perfect as well as everything else!

| said: Just returned from here last night. Was very sad to leave, fell in love with the resort and the hotel staff there.
Cleaners, receptionists and waiters couldnt do enough for us. Very very clean, tidy and beautiful gardens. Didnt see the paint peeling and other things mentioned a few yrs ago on this forum, so must of been tidied up since then.
We had booked an apartment, but as we checked in we were upgraded to a bungalow which was great. plenty of room and lovely furnished.
pool was great, good pool bar and food and plenty of free activites to do all day. Alot of german families there but just as many English to balance it out.
We are taking family back to hotel in a few months, and looking into moving to the Costa Adeje in the next year.

| said: We came with another family and although we asked to be put together, we were put quite far along the corridor from each other. After a few days we noticed a terrible smell of what seemed like gas, we were in rooms 102 & 108. We complained to the reception and were moved the very next day and upgraded to adjoining apartments. kind of like semi detached bungalows. The only complaint i would have with this was the complete lack of grass, i;e we had dusty earth that got everywhere. On a more positive note , the entertainment team were absolutely fantastic and the number of activities on offer were astonishing. We had four children between us ranging from 7yrs of age to 12yrs and they all got to try activities that they may never have tried. The cleaners were great and I cant fault their professionalism. All in all, the hotel was very well placed for the local supermarket and close enough to the beach. I would recommend this hotel to a family group. Although we had to get up early to reserve beds, i think that this is quite a normal occurence nowadays. We also had a problem with our fridge door which wouldnt shut, I phoned reception and within half an hour, the maintenance man came with a brand new fridge, excellent service. !!!

| said: Riu Adeje Aparthotel was fine - reception was a traditional 'old english' style with dark wooden floor and beams.
The accommodation is very good (bit like a maze tho) our apartment (627) was in a block of two near to the childrens pool - better than the usual high rise balcony style hotels - we had our own little garden. Took the wrong turning a couple of times because the buildings all look similar!
The maid cleaned and made the beds every day - very good standard of cleanliness.
The resturant was ok - with a good variety of food - had two sittings for dinner 6pm and 8pm and you apparently could sit at the same table each night - we didn't bother and I'm sure we sat at someone else's table one night! but they didn't ask us to move! it was a bit of a strange set up!

Maid service daily, even washed dishes if left. Towels changed daily if necessary and bed linen changed often. Stayed for New Year and enjoyed New Years Eve here.
Food out of this world though cost 90 euros each for the meal. Complimentary drinks were in abundance.
Have booked to go back for next new year. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Visit Tenerife at least twice each year and would definitly recommend this complex.

| said: Just returned from a two week holiday at RIU Adeje.
We arrived at 01-30 and were given room 139. First impression was that the room was a little "Shabby" as, there was paint missing off the walls where furniture had banged against them. Room was pretty large and had a decent balcony but it was tucked away in a corner, up two flights of stairs that were unlit at night and you had a great view of the adjacent bungalows roof, 1/3 of next doors pool and 1/3 of the kiddie pool at our hotel and the service road between the hotels.
Added to this was the continued throb of the large air con fan/unit for the hotel next door. We got into bed and the sheets/linen was damp too. First impressions were not good.
We asked for a move and were put into a better room the next day. On seeing the complex in daylight some areas required a good lick of paint to freshen it up.
The pool area is a fair size and the pool itself is very good, however if you expect to get a sun bed then you must be prepared to get up at 07-30 to get your towels down, if you go down to the pool at 08-30 all the beds have been "reserved".
Distance to the beach in the brochures is probably about right but they neglect to tell you that it is a pretty hefty uphill hike to get back, you will be knackered by the last bit!
The brochures also neglect to say that this is a mainly German and Dutch hotel. There was not much company for my two teenagers.
After the evening entertainment finishes the hotel literally goes to bed (10-30ish) due to the large amount of "foreign" families with young children
(and no doubt, the need for an early get up to reserve those sunbeds)
Staff are all friendly and helpful and the maids are cheerful. "Animacion" reps are very good and the daytime activities are Ok.
In conclusion:
Hotel not bad, the general "village" idea is quite good but definitely not four star in my opinion. Tatty in places and cats everywhere.
Location ok but uphill climb in the heat can be very gruelling.
We had a good holiday at this hotel and have come home a lot fitter due to the uphill exercise regime.
Would recommend for families with young children (up to age 8-9)but not teenagers.

| said: Wow, what a fab place to stay! This was our first holiday abroad and had heard all of the horror stories and arrived with anticipation.
We were greated by friendly and helpful staff into a clean and friendly complex. Our room was cleaned daily and staff cant do enough for you.
Ok we encountered a few cock roaches in our room, but thats all part of the fun of hols abroad.
The hotel is at the top of the hill, but it makes you feel less guilty about all of that lovely food you have just consumed in the many restaurants that litter the sea front. You get a good selection and some prices seem too good to be true, but you wont be dissappointed.
If anyone is reading this and about to jet off can i just say i am sooooooo jealous and room for a little one in your suitcase????

| said: The foyer of the hotel is very nice and very clean, first impressions were good. However our room was not up to the same standard, surrounds were broken on the bathroom door, plaster was coming off the walls, paintwork was tatty and tired, peeling off the walls. In addition to this we had small bugs in the kitchen area, which we later were told were ants. Some of the lights were hanging off the walls and there was a big chip out of the bath.
We complained and were told by one member of staff “I have no solution”, fortunately another member of staff overheard our conversation and checked for another room. The hotel was full and we had to wait until the next day to be moved, our next room was a bit tired but just general wear and tear nothing to worry about, although I have stayed in nicer rooms in 3* accommodation. We did although have the same problem with the ants, staff came and sprayed the room but after about a week the ants returned again.
With the above exception, the staff generally were very helpful and friendly.
The children’s club was really good and there was plenty of activities for both adults and other children who did not wish to attend the club, such as darts, volley ball, football, water polo and cooking demonstrations.
We really like the area (stayed at Ocean Palace last year), it's on a small hill but nothing too major and we always enjoy the walk, its about five minutes walk straight downhill to the beach and the restaurants.
We only had breakfast in the hotel, it was good and there was a great selection. We ate out in the evenings; the best places to try are The Slow Boat Chinese restaurant in the Porto Colon area (it's a must). The Tuscan Steakhouse on the sea front at Adeje, the Pizza shop beside McDonalds on the beach. We also went to the first restaurant in the Porto Colon area, it was an Italian and the food was good but wouldn’t go back because the staff were very rude and not child friendly at all. Harleys (just up steps and onto main street from the Porto Colon area) is also a must. We had the combo starter, its great and a really big plateful.
We mainly went out at night, saw hotel entertainment once, entertainment was good and looked good other times but we prefer to go out.

This hotel is really excellent and the local bus service terminal is just across the road (even to Los Christianos it is about 2 euros) We have been coming to this area for years and like walking along the sea front from Los Christianos to Fanabe and find to Bus service quite handy.
Entertainment at the hotel, we saw four of the shows and they were good
We stayed in superior room definitely recommended.
Say hello "Jonay" he is the porter he is great
We will definitely return

| said: Riu Adeje, Costa Adeje, Tenerife. Cannot fault this hotel, Thomas Cook staff or hotel staff. Deserves it's self catering 4* rating. It's almost a small village in size but there was never any feeling of being overcrowded.
Arrival reception 1st class, very informative and welcoming. Layout of apartment excellent with just enough in the kitchen to get by on. Missed a grill but never mind. Linen changed often, bathroom towells as often as you wish. Rooms cleaned daily. TV a bit limited but, hey, this is a holiday! Get way from those soaps. Eurosport good for the footie. Very clean and well presented all round.
Pool area excellent, free sunbeds, free change of long towells as you wish and free sun shades. Pre placing of towells banned, but did happen sometimes. Good sized pool well looked after. Plenty of space. We took loads of books and a good job because the 'library' was all German stuff. We would not hesitate to return.

| said: We arrived around 3.00pm and check in was really smooth and quick and within 5 minutes we were down by the pool. I agree with previous reports that the outside areas especially corridors leading to rooms could do with a general tidy up and a good coat of paint, as its the first thing you see and doesn't give a good impression. However, upon entering our room we were pleasantly supprised. Everything was clean and tidy and the largest room we have ever stayed in. Couple of improvements to room would be a TV in main bedroom,(as when our daughter was alseep in the lounge we couldn't watch television, not that there is a lot of choice all german channels, but we brought our portable DVD player so this solved that problem), plus a grill of some description as with only two electric rings, cooking was quite limited. Two good supermarkets round the corner for cheap bear and wine and of course food!
We were in room 123 and didn't think any rooms were too far away from anything and ramps everywhere which was great for our pram.
We booked this hotel for the heated swimming pools, but unfortunately they were freezing and our daughter would not venture into the main pool, although she did spend lots of time in the kids pool by the kiddie club. My husband, baby and I braved the main pool and once in, it was very nice. No one else seamed to mind the cold though as it was always busy. Also no toilets by the kiddie pool!
Our daughter loved the miniclub and went everyday, even though the majority of kids were german, but the staff spoke good English and made her feel very welcome. She also loved the mini disco but half an hour was just too short as she would get upset when it ended.
The only other thing we didn't like was the bar where the entertainment happened, very very smokey, which stopped us staying there for the night time entertainment. We only saw one show the flying brothers, as our daughter loves acrobatic shows and watched in amazement.
We did have a really good holiday, with excellant weather, but doubt we would go again, mainly due to the fact we don't like going to the same place twice and we generally go All Inclusive.

| said: We have just got back from staying at this hotel for a week. My verdict is as follows
Check in was at 2am in the morning the night receptionist was very good, he organised the night security to take our luggage to our room within minutes (They expect a tip, I had 3 euros ready)
Room No: 239
This room was the furthest apartment away from the exit(main reception) it is hell of a hike. The room was very big ample storage space and a safety deposit box (11.80 Euro for the week) the kitchen area had everything really that you needed for self catering.
TV: Has sky news and CNN, and eurosport, and a few foreign channels.
Beds were comfortable.
Wardrobes were very big, and plenty of hangers
Our balcony was average, with a dryer attached to the wall, the one problem was that if the balcony doors were open you would hear the massive fan thing from the Hotel at the back it was a loud drone all day and night.
The bathroom consisted of toilet and small bath and shower and hair dryer.
The living room consisted of a couch and single chair and table and dining table with four chairs. Decoration in the room was a little shabby for a 4 star paint off the wall, handles coming off the bathroom door and bedroom, but was repaired as soon as reported.
Cleanliness: The maid visited every day and was excellent, even done the dishes if there was any left in the sink, folded my sons Pyjamas up very neatly on his bed every day. On the last day she left us a chocalate each on our bed. The one problem was cockroahes we had 3 in our room one morning, which I chased all morning and could not catch them, eventually I reported it to the reception (I had to go down on the long trek to do this as they never seemed to answer the phone) then we had another one the next day and the last day.
Check out is 12 noon
Pools: There were 2 Pools one main one and a shallow kids one, I can't really comment on this as we were visiting friends hotel every day pre arranged.
The outside decoration: I felt as if there could of been a major paint and repair job to be done to this place, and that some of the gardens attached to some rooms were not very nice at all.
There was a gym, gift shop, and a hairdressers on site, no supermarket, but there is a good one over the road, very reasonable priced.
Entertainment: I can't really comment on this as we were out every night except the last when there was a band on mainly for older people, but on the calendar it does look as if the cater for everybody through the week.
All in all I would rate this place 3 Star Plus, with it being a late deal the price was right, I would not liked to have paid full price.

| said: Stayed on a S/C basis for the last two weeks of August 2004.
The rooms are of a good size especially if you book a superior room, our bedroom had three large individual beds and we still had plenty of room to move around. We stayed in a superior room around numbers 600 we had a large balcony with FOUR sunbeds and a table and four chairs (no need to go down to the pool for a bed)
The kitchen was nice and practical with oven, microwave and fridge and it was spotless. We did start having breakfast on the patio but when you can pick up a full English breakfast locally for 2 x euro Why bother?
Having stayed in this area previously we knew that all of the good restaurants and bars are about fifteen minutes walk away down on the beach front and we used them every night (walking back in the early hours ensure no hangover!)
If you are looking for a good base to holiday from the rooms in this hotel are great and I would certainly go back

| said: We stayed in a superior room - apartment - no 609, like a little villa, with it's own little garden with chairs & table. Apartment was very good, well presented and maintained, air con a little ineffective. Hotel decor 1st class. Very clean everywhere. Food good usual buffet style but the salmon was very nice. We were on 8pm sitting but used to be a little naughty & go in about 8.20 when the rush had died down. Tables are allocated for evening meal, yours for the week, breakfast any table including outside which is nice. Little disappointed with lack (0r at least we didn't find any) of bars close by so I mark down on location for this reason. Staff excellent and speak reasonable to very good english. Entertainment ok, we tended to stay a while then go back to our room and drink out in the garden things we had bought at the supermarket very close by.
If you are in the superior rooms around 600 dont do as we did and think you have to go up the slope to reception and then down the stairs outside to get to the dining room, turn right at the bottom of the ramp and go round the corner, much easier on the old legs!
