The hotel was clean but showing its age. Our room was small but the bathroom was dated and had chipped tiles and the towels were threadbare. Beds were very small and uncomfortable and it looked like the sheets had been cut in half.

The staff would benefit from spending a couple of weeks in India to learn how to be friendly and courteous. Most of them ignored you and it became a bit of a challenge to make them sat hello to us. Towel boys and chambermaid were friendly

Hotel grounds were well maintained and pool cleaned regularly.

Didn't watch the entertainment as it wasn't our thing so played cards or chatted most nights.

Lovely hotel and staff, pity once the Germans arrived as they took over, and staff and hotel management bent over backwards for them, and forgot about English customers.

Hotel management give them priority over everyone else.

This must rate as one of the best and most relaxing lay-back holidays we have had.

The staff were great, if you had a problem they would do everything possible to sort it out for you. All of the staff tried very hard to ensure that you had a good time.

The food was great - some people did get upset stomachs but a lot of that could be due to over indulgence and the heat - it was in the 40's every day. We were ok and did not seem to have any problems.

The sea was a bit rough some days and it could be a bit windy on the beach but that did not bother us as the pool was lovely and warm and you could get a sunbed, but not always in the shade.

We decided to get married there and both of us could not have wished for a better wedding. They made it very special for us.

Overall it was great - everyone's opion is different -but we would say - try for yourself - we did and all we can say is we all had a great time and would go back again.

We too read many reveiws but kept a open mind at first we thought they were unfounded however a couple of days in things started to go wrong.

On the coach from airport your told its a shopper paradise, tax free load of rubbish Sambil shopping centre is more expensive than home.we had heard the pool was dirty unture its spotless.

The staff are freindly and helpful rooms are basic and clean. After a few days and chatting to other guests we all realised that everyone was suffering sickness and diarrhoea we put this down to a couple of reasons the resturants is not air conditioned, birds landing on your tables, waiter using a dry cloth that they produce from ther pocket to wipe down tables and fresh water being supplied from dispenser you never see what they refill with?

Apart from all this we enjoyed our holiday if you have booked and are reading this please do the same we will return to Margarita maybe in a couple of year when they have realised whats expected from a 4 star hotel I hope they do as its a lovely country.

Well....what can I say! What a fantastic holiday.

I, like others, had concerns after reading some reviews on this (and other) websites. I had nothing to be concerned about.

We travelled with First Choice and after an initial delay at Manchester everything ran smoothly. We arrived at the hotel to some lovely cool drinks and the lamination team singing and dancing (you'll know the moves and the words by the time you leave). Straight away I was smiling.

The bell boys took our cases to our room and first impressions were good. I'll admit the rooms could do with a bit of upgrading or a lick of paint (Margarita workmanship), but the room was of ample size, lots of storage and powerful air conditioning. I've read complaints of this being noisy, but the nights we kept it on I managed to sleep fine. There is a ceiling fan that keeps the rooms cool if you switch it off.

The pool area is fantastic. You get towels from a hut by the pool, so I wouldn't bother taking any with you. We were not the earliest of risers...well as early as others...so we usually headed to the beach where we always managed to get a bed under some palm trees. The beds by the pool with shade were hard to come by. I'm usually a sun worshipper, but you really need some shade over there. The sun is unbelievable and I quickly ditched my low factor creams and opted for a 25/15.

The restaurants in the hotel are also of a very high standard. I'm shocked that some people think there isn't enough variety..every evening there was pastas, salads, different meat dishes and as someone else mentioned every other night was themed. In the buffet restaurant I think we only had to share a table one night out of the 14. It was much more bearable heat wise sitting outside on the terrace however I would agree with what I've read that the service was slightly slower...but I was in no rush so didn't care much. My partner loved the Mexican but neither of us were hugely impressed with the Italian...although this could have been choice of dish that night as others we met loved it.

Evening entertainment is limited for adults although the disco was over 18's on the weekend and was quite a good laugh..the DJ may even let you play some of your own CD's. I wouldn't bother trying it on a regular night as when I was there the hotel did have alot of young teenagers that go to the disco nightly. We watched a few of the shows which were of a high standard..the staff work so hard and I don't know where they get their energy from. We also ventured into Porlamar one night to sample the local nightlife. We went to Senor Frogs on a Saturday night so not surprisingly it was full of locals, the music was mainly typical Spanish...not really our thing but it was interesting to see. Please note however, we went in with another couple who spoke Spanish and I think this was a big advantage. Taxi drivers and clubs outside your resort may add on a few extra pounds to try and get more money..so just have your wits about you. On the whole the evenings were quite relaxed sitting at the pool bar with other couples.

As for trips we did the one day Angel Falls trip....excellent to walk under El Sapo falls however didn't see much of Angel Falls from the plane..it was too cloudy and our plane was quite large so didn't get as low down as some of the 12 seaters. It is quite pricey for what you get.

We also swam with Dolphins....again fantastic and great value for money at only US$50. If you take a taxi from the hotel (one of the reps will sort that for you..Milton is really helpful), the driver will wait for an hour and take you back to the hotel afterwards.

Finally we did a Cafo Yacht trip. Although this was good as we did get a couple of hours snorkeling in...it's a very very long day and you're on the yacht for about 7 hours. So if you love yachting then this is for you, if not, I'd give it a miss.

I think I've covered everything....but if you're going have a fantastic time (which I'm sure you will) and watch the strength of those cocktails!

After reading some reviews about this hotel I was quite concerned, however I had nothing to worry about.

The hotel was very clean , we had 2 rooms which were a fair size with everything you could need- a comfy bed , clean sheets, plenty of wardrobe space , a fridge and hot running water.

The food in the buffet restaurant was always of good quality, hot and plenty of it . Although as with any all inclusive holiday after 2 weeks it does get a bit repetitve.

The mexican was ok nothing special and we could not try the Italian as men have to wear long trousers and my partner didn't take any.

The hotel staff were very friendly and a small tip is always appreciated. On each of the bars there was a pot for the tips , but we discovered that the hotel takes a cut out of the pot before sharing it out amongst the staff. So we tipped the staff individually.

Our kids had a great time meeting lots of friends and stayed out quite late at night at the disco. It is very safe in the complex so we had no worries.

They said the entertainment shows were very good. We didn't actually see any as we were shattered by the evening and went to bed early.

The heat is so exhausting beware! It is very humid and drains the energy out of you, everyone we met said they had never been so tired.

During the day the entertainment staff worked hard but weren't in your face and didn't bother you.
One tip do not take sterling with you, you can not change it any more only dollars.

The reps at the hotel are excellent and really helpful.
We did the north star boat trip to Coche island which was brilliant.

The only downfall of the hotel and the reason that I would not return is that it is so very isolated. You cannot go out for a walk anywhere, there are no real roads so you have to get a taxi . These are cheap and a real experience.
Once you get there you will see what I mean.

Overall we had a good time and met some great people. Give it a go, it's not 4* I think First Choice are pushing their luck with that one, a lick of paint wouldn't go a miss. The best words to describe it is as a bit shabby but it didn't make any real difference. It was really was ok.

I spent many hours before our trip searching for information on this hotel but was prepared to form my own opinions.

We travelled FCA Star Class Premier which on the outbound trip was brilliant despite sitting on the runway for over an hour whilst some adjustments to the plane were made. On arrival we were met by the Reps and allocated a coach with the luggage sent separately.

After a bumpy ride we eventually got to the hotel and went in search of our rooms. We were travelling with our daughter and her 2 girls and she went one way and we went the other. We were allocated 3 rooms (which is what we had paid for) and the reason for this was that First Choice had told us that the rooms were only for 2 and my daughter would have to have her own room.

The rooms contained 1 double and 1 single bed and was quite adequate for the 3 of them, so she did not use her own room at all. We were on the ground floor with quite a large terrace but I found them to be very dark and the lighting could have been better.

The rooms were kept quite clean with a change of towels every day but our maid did not seem to do much else than make the bed and wipe round the sink in the bathroom. We attended the welcome meeting and I must admit that the Reps were extremely good and knew their stuff.

The meals were quite good with different choices, we tried the Italian which was OK and the Mexican was good. We spent ages waiting for drinks but we never sat at the same table. We only went to 1 show on our 2nd night but it wasn't for us and we seemed to be so tired from the heat that we had little energy to do much.

The pool was massive and very shallow but I thought on some days it was quite dirty with tbings floating on the surface. Some of the staff were extremely nice particularly Edith in the Pool Bar and the girls who served in the Mexican.

I walked the full extent of the beach but found it quite grubby in places. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere and we made a couple of trips by taxi to the local town and did a bit of shopping. On the plus side we went on the Land Cruiser tour and Swimming with Dolphins two excellent trips which I would highly recommend.

We visited Sambil Mall in Porlamar but I found the prices particularly with perfume similar to the UK. To sum up we enjoyed our holiday and it was nice to see a different part of the world but I don't think we would rush to return.

LTI Costa Caribe Hotel

The LTI Costa Caribe is situated about 10 mins from the town of Juan Griego and is set in it’s own landscaped gardens.
It is worth mentioning that the only other buildings in the area are a few beach huts and kiosks at the small beach of Play Caribe, you can also hire jet ski’s and go wind surfing on this beach.
Upon arrival at the hotel we were given a fruit punch cocktail and greeted by some of the hotel animation team doing the club dance ‘uno, dos, tres’ which you will hear regularly at the hotel.
The bell boy’s unload all your luggage from the bus while you check-in, which was very fast, after you have your room number let the bell boy’s know your luggage and it will be delivered to your room in about 10 mins.

There are various styles of rooms in the LTI Costa Caribe ranging from Suites to economy room (mainly used for guests booking directly with hotel), all First Choice & Hayes and Jarvis guests are given standard rooms, which consist of a bedroom and bathroom with either a terrace or balcony.

The standard rooms can have either a king size, double or 2 single beds and we found the beds to be very comfortable.
The suites have a separate sitting area consisting of a sofa (can be made in to a bed) and a table and chairs.
The rooms all appear to have adequate storage space.
On arrival our accommodation was spotlessly clean and well prepared.
As we had upgraded our fridge was fully stocked with beer and soft drinks (however this didn’t happen as often as it should have and ended up being missed 7 times during our 2 weeks there) and we also had a platter of fresh fruit.
Our room was cleaned thoroughly every day, with a full set of clean towels provided every day and the bedding changed every couple of days.
The bathroom is a good size with shower, wc and wash basin, there was always hot water and good pressure from the shower.
All rooms have air conditioning and a fridge, and drinks can be taken from any of the bars to your room.

Towels for sunbeds are available from the pool area so there is no need to use room towels or your own.

There are 3 bars in the hotel, the beach bar which also serves snacks / meals from 12 –6 (you must try their fresh burgers) this is also where the Mexican restaurant (la Boquita) is at night. The lobby bar which also has cakes etc available from 3 o’clock and also the pool bar which also has a swim up bar, but you will get much quicker service if you go in to it.
There is also a bar set up at night beside the show area and also in the disco when it opens at either 11pm or midnight.

Our son and daughter and all the people they had become friendly with all enjoyed the disco and went to it most nights and had a laugh and fun although a couple of nights when a guest was trying to be a DJ it was poorer than normal.

There are 3 restaurants in the hotel, the main restaurant had many themed nights including, Mexican, Gala, BBQ, International etc and a lot of the time the food was cooked in front of you.
The Mexican restaurant ( la Boquita) has very nice food cooked to order, try the fajitas or Chimi Changa.
The al a Carte Italian restaurant Don Alfredo was nice but I thought it a bit over rated.

We always found the food in the Main restaurant to be varied with both a good choice of hot and cold dishes.

Some people had complained about the beef (steak) not being properly cooked on the BBQ as it was still a bit red in the middle, this is the way I like my meat so that didn't bother me, however my wife likes hers cooked right through so she just asked for it to be cooked slightly longer and this was never a problem for the chef.

Raymond always looked after us and had a table with a bottle of wine and water laid out for us when we arrived, and he was always very quick with refills and a glass of Amaretto after dinner.
I must just mention that the wine is really very nice, with wine from both Argentina and Chile being served.

There are a couple of small issues that may annoy people.
The first problem is that the tables seat 6 people and you may end up sitting with strangers, you can sit outside for evening dinner where there are tables for 4 people, we did this twice and to be honest the service was awful.
The second problem is the issue of birds flying in the dinning room (also affects the beach bar) and eating food left on tables and they also pick at the bread on the counter if it is left out. The hotel has put a net around the restaurant but the birds are still a problem.

A large selection of cocktails and drinks are available from the bars with Polar beer on tap and Brahma by the bottle.
All drinks are locally produced and no international brands are available.

The pool is large enough to never seem to busy and is quite shallow so is safe for children.
Sun loungers can be a bit of a problem as they can all be taken quite early both at the pool side and on the beach.

The animation team work hard all day with various games and sports being organised during the day.
If you are anywhere near the pool you will be asked to join in and the word no is not understood by any of the team (as I found out) however the games are a good laugh.
Some nights more dancers join the animation team and they put on excellent, highly choreographed shows which everybody enjoyed, while other nights there will be audience participation games on stage (yes I got caught again) which will have you laughing.
These shows are never repeated in a 2 week period so are non repetative.

The hotel operates a complimentary bus to Sambil mall every day or a taxi costs 15,000 Bolivares (20,000 for the return from sambil) and a taxi from Sambil to the center of Porlimar costs 5,000.

The hotel has computers offering Internet access, there are also a couple of shops selling cigarettes, drinks, ice cream, gifts etc.
If you fancy a massage or other beauty treatment these are also available at the hotel.

All the staff at the hotel are exceptionally friendly and nothing seems to be any problem or trouble for them which.

The First Choice reps Carlos and Milton are excellent and I cannot praise them enough, they are both hard working and will sort any problems as well as just being around for information or a chat.

We never heard of anybody being ill in the 2 weeks we were there and hygene didn't seem to be a problem.

Overall I would say the LTI Costa Caribe is not a 4* hotel but is definitely a 3* or 3* plus and would highly recommend this hotel, and I would definitely go there again.

I found the room (Junior suite) pretty uninviting, although it was clean.

The food was ok, but nothing special really. My husband had a bad stomach bug within our 1st week which lasted for 3 days.

The Hotel is situated in the middle of nowhere and the surrounding area is very grim looking. The staff were ok, however when the venezualen families arrived with all the children, and I am talking lots of screaming children, (it must have been a bank holiday week-end or something) we did not get a look in.

Sometimes we would have to wait for up to half an hour to get a drink, knowing full well that you had been stood there the longest, and no matter what you'd say, the staff would completely ignore you.

There was hardly any entertainment. We would definately not return to this hotel. Although, on a happier note, my brother's wedding day in the 2nd week sort of made up for it all, it was a fantastic day!

20 of us arrived at Costa Carbie beach hotel, the staff are very welcoming, checking in very quick. The complex is very well looked after and the rooms are very clean, cleaners come every day.

There was a wide choice of food but we found the most evening we were to hot to eat big meals (could have done with more salad type things in the evening) but on the whole a good variety.

The bar staff are very friendly and really look after you nothing is too much trouble for them.

Have to get up early to get a good spot on sun beds as most of the ones in the shade are gone before 8am (must have shade the heat is unbelievable).

We were a little disappointed with the sea as it was always too rough to go in for a swim very strong undercurrent.

The evening entertainment was a bit repetitive so only went to a couple of shows although we do appritate they work really hard.

On the whole we all had a really great time and meet some great people while we were there. Mat be we shall go back one day but have a lot more exploring to do first.

Cleaned every day. Clean towels everyday but sometimes you only get a facecloth and not a hand-towel.

Although location on the beach the sea was quite rocky and most of the time the sea was a bit too rough. It was very windy on the beach but because of the intense heat it was a blessing.

Quite a lot of the guests suffered with severe stomach pains myself being one of them. Forget immodium because it has no effect here. If you ask the reps they will tell you which pharmacy to go to but if you have it longer than 3 days they insist you see a Doctor(this happened to me). I was given an injection in my rear together with 3 lots of tablets to take for 3 days.

We arrived back at Manchester, England, November 11, having had a wonderful time. I will try to give useful and fair information.

The flight to Margarita by Excel was very good, a choice of meals, attentive stewards, navy blue leather seats - we were glad we hadn't paid for an upgrade. I think their contract has finished, and we flew back with First Choice, again good, but the seats seemed narrower, the food not so good, the stewards run off their feet - but no complaints - quite comfortable.

We were met at the airport and offered soft drinks before boarding the air conditioned coach.

LTI Costa Caribe was a beautiful resort, the gardens have matured since the photograph in the brochure was taken, very tropical and lush, and well kept.

Our room was smaller than usual, no king size bed - but we didn't spend much time there, so no problems. The air conditioning was noisy, but tolerable and much needed. The TV was not good. The fridge was useful for keeping water, and the bathroom nice. Again, very clean and well kept.

The sea was warm and calm enough for swimming and the pool like bath water! We could always find a bed - although people did reserve them with towels (provided), even though signs asked you not to. It was very hot - but usually a breeze so not too uncomfortable.

There was a huge variety of food - something for everyone, and a freshly carved joint or special dish each evening - you name it, they had it.

The drinks were superb - properly made cocktails by the tumbler, made by cheery barmen, all spirits, liquers, bottled beer, Chilean wine, great coffee.

We did two trips. We went on the Delta/Canaima trip which everyone enjoys - a different world, so interesting and yet not exhausting as we had feared.

We went horse riding, for the first time in our lives, and we are in our fifties! The ranch was splendid, we rode over mountains, cactus forests and beach. The horses were healthy and well cared for. These two trips, booked through First Choice, cost a total of £200 for each of us, rather less than in the brochure and were excellent value.

We enjoyed the outdoor show for one hour each evening, the dancers were very professional and the entertainment team worked really hard to entertain us.

We only saw the local area from mini buses when we went on our trips and did not visit Porlamar as we were quite happy where we were, just relaxing.

Food was of reasonable quality, however it was warm as opposed to hot. A la carte was much better and enjoyable.
The hotel was generally very clean, but the pool was a bit dirty. We complained and were told it was getting drained for a deep clean in the first week in December 2004.
Hotel is isolated but taxis are so cheap you can go anywhere on the island for little cost.
Hotel staff are first class and very friendly.
Entertainment is of a high quality, with different shows each night by the Animacion team

The hotel was amazing! All of the staff were friendly and we have stayed in contact with most of the animation team.

My brother and I (both teenagers) ended up meeting everyone at the hotel, whilst our parents enjoyed a relaxing holiday (sunbathing most of the time).

The hotel is perfect for all ages, though we didn’t see many babies.

Just talking to the animation team helped my brother and I learn Spanish almost fluently in the two weeks that we stayed there.

I understand that the scuba-diving was great fun although I never tried it myself!

The beach was gorgeous.

Try going just before dinner to see the sunset. I can’t wait to go back.

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous, the swimming pool is huge and if you don't fancy the pool you literally step out of the pool through a gate onto the beach! So it's great for beach lovers too. The hotel is secluded from anything but I didn't fancy venturing out by myself so it didn't bother me but if you did want to go out the hotel has it's own taxi service and if you know how long you'll be they will wait for you, which i thought was fantastic. The excursions were also fantastic and so easy to book! We opted for the canaima trip where you fly past angel falls (which is gorgeous) and then you fly to canaima lagoon and walk through two waterfalls, definately worth every penny!!
The food is lovely, we found it never had the same same dish twice. The a la carte restaurants are much nicer than the main restaurant and a lot of variety on the menu.
The rooms are kept lovely, fresh towels everyday and they make the beds all fancy. The staff really couldn't be any nicer and they work soooo hard all day long.
The entertainment is good for both children and adults however we found there wasn't much to do after 2am but go back to the room as the bars are then closed.
All in all I had a fabulous and adventurous holiday and would definately go back, in fact I could be going next year to do some more of the excursions as we didn't have time to do them all.

The hotel is beautiful, but it is in a very secluded place. The main problems we found was that the entertainment at night was almost non existent for the adults. There are three bars and the main pool bar only has around 10 tables, which is very small conisdering there are around 700 guests. The lobby bar is indoors which is no fun when it's hot and the Boquita bar only has 4 tables. There is no music to listen to, all there is to do is sit and get drunk! I would not advise going to the A la Carte restaurant, we felt as though we were sitting in a morgue, it's cold, the food is the same as the buffet and the service is done at a snail's pace.
As the hotel is so big, we found it didn't have that personal touch and it was very difficult to find people to sit and chat with at night.
The food was atrocious, most of it is served cold and they haven't a clue how to cook meat.
Getting a sunbed next to the pool and on the beach is almost impossible as our neighbours from abroad tend to be the first to get their towels on them.
The rooms are spotless and the maids are wonderful.
The tours are very good, but you are only able to book them from your rep and they will rip you off.

We opted for an 'allocation on arrival' all inclusive holiday, so we weren't sure what to expect, but we ended up at the Costa Caribe and were pretty happy when we discovered it was actually a Hilton Hotel and has a 4* rating!

The rooms were immaculately clean. The food and drink were available 24 hours a day, and the staff were lovely.

There were several trips that available for tourists, and we took one to Seona Island. Definately recommend it! Our trip was run by Thompsons, but agents all around the island organise them so you wouldn't have to go with Thompsons. We went on a steam boat down a river that Jurassic Park was filmed on (don't know if that was sales talk though!) then we jumped on a speedboat and were taken from the river out to sea! the water was crystal clear, and our tour guide stopped the boat for us to jump off and have a swim. Despite the fact we were pretty far from the beach we could still stand! (and i'm 5"2) Apparently there's some sort of sand bank there! Was fab! Then we arrived at the island - white sand, clear sea, bbq and rum punch, spent a few hours there and were taken back on a catermeran.

The rest of the holiday was a very lazy one. There's a choice of 3 swimming pools at the hotel, which is also just on the beach. The beach was cleaned everyday and there were wind powered watersports available for free (well, as part of the package) The pedalo boats were a little dated but workable. There was also evening entertainment (sometimes a little tacky but with a few drinks jolly good fun) as well as daytime entertainment, mini golf, a casino, pedal bikes, football, basketball and tennis. And two hot tubs.

One tip for anyone tavelling here, take a face cloth or flannel! We weren't given any. And if you've any problems while your away report it to your holiday rep or reception while your there! I happened to mention to our fabulous rep that we needed to buy some water because we had drank the two bottles that were there when we arrived, and she told us we should be given fresh bottles every day, providing we leave our old bottles in the room. 20 minutes later two more bottles of water were delivered to our room.

We would definately visit again, but this time we'd fly to a closer airport (Punta Cana was about 3 hours away and after a 9 hour flight it would've been nicer without the journey)

Happy holidaying!

We had a standard room which was quite small, but had a wonderful view of the pool. The food was very good. We didn't eat the same thing twice whilst there. The staff were very friendly, especially the barmen at the lobby bar.

The location of the hotel was a bit remote but the taxi's were so cheap, this wasn't a problem at all.

We had a fantastic holiday and wouldn't hesitate returning to this hotel.

an excellent hotel, food varied each night, a la carte restaurant was excellent - where can you get lobster for $7? most of the ala carte menu was inclusive but things like steak, lobster and king prawns had a small charge. extremley well kept gardens and hotel grounds. entertainment staff worked their butts off all day and night doing general water polo, aerobics and other activities. the beach party was excellent!
cant wait to go back !!!!!!!!
