we have just returned from this hell hole called the trh palmanova. This was our 5th visit to this hotel, the other times it was a very good family hotel and owned by barcello, but it is with deep regret that this hotel is now mostly 18-30.We were opposite the cock and the large dog but we could have coped with that, but it made us embarassed to say we were british with all that was going on in this hotel. The hotel staff were embarassed at the things that were going on but they were unable to do anything about it.If you are looking for a relaxing holiday dont go here! I felt sorry for some of the couples there and finally we managed to get a move to another hotel in magaluf which was much more family friendly. When going to a place like magaluf you expect a bit of noise etc. but this was disgusting.

We found the hotel and our room clean and roomy
all the electrical appliances worked ok toaster micro-wave fridge ect and we had a room with a pleasent view
overlooking the hotel next doors swimming pool.
But be warned there are some rooms that have no views at all many looking out to a brick wall.
i think most of the guests were self catering as we found the dining room almost empty when we went for breakfast and dinner.

Although this hotel borders Magaluf we found that it was not a noisy as we were expecting we may have been lucky. The staff are friendly and smiled a lot
but im afraid we would not use this hotel again for one reason and that is the hill that it sits on. It is a killer it is not an incline belive me it is a hill AND THERE OTHER HOTELS EVEN FURTHER UP IT if you are traning for the 2012 olympics then this is the place for you

rooms are very basic, no kettle in room, we were told that they had all been removed and they charge to rent one but it is not electric! bedlinen was not changed all week and they did not make the bed in lounge ever. the hotel is full of 18-30's running around and making lots of noise all hours, so got hardly any sleep. there is also 2 dogs and a cockerel across the road that barks or cock-a-doodle-do's all night!! hotel security is not aloud to leave their post at night to sort out the trouble makers either!! we found out that this hotel is in fact in torrenova on a very steep hill, which was a shame as we spent most of our time in palmanova which is a good 1-2miles walk. i imagine that this hotel was once very nice but it has been spoilt by the youngsters staying here. would go back to palmanova but would not stay at this hotel again.. oh and the pictures shown on the website do not resemble this hotel at all!!!

I visited Palma nova and will go back next year. There are so many nice places to eat and its ideal for a lazy holiday or an active one.
The beaches are beautiful and golden sand with blue sea, water sports are readily available as is bike hire and golf activities.
Now to the hotel, well this place is called the TRH Palmanova which is situated in Palmanova,no,no,no!.Yes its the TRH Palmanova but it is in Magalluf. This place is not ideal for anyone with walking difficulties as its at the top of a very steep hill, and is not for families.
The complex itself is beautiful, with nice pools and helpful staff. The rooms are basic and none have a sea view due to its location. We were there 14 nights and I would not go back unless I was on a stag night.
Most nights didnt end and the staff claimed that they could not control their guests when drunk and told us we had come to the wrong place at the wrong time of year for a family holiday.
Entertainment at night ended at 10pm and repeated itself in the second week, with most of the advertised activities not taking place, probably due to there being very few families there to take part.i.e. bingo, minidisco etc.
Due to the location of this hotel,it was used to access Magalluf by groups of young lads and lasses from all over the world which is fine if they would behave.
During the 14 nights that I stayed, i saw 5 patio door glasses being replaced and numerous lights and fittings smashed.I strongly recommend that this hotel is not for families and i wish that the brochures would too.
If this place was in "Palmanova" properly and not just by postcode, I would go back tomorrow.
The facilities, cleanliness, staff and pools are brilliant and are spoiled by their customers whom they cant choose.

Apart from being at the top of a very steep hill hotel was great.

Room was large and clean maid came four time a week
stayed on the 8 floor which overlooked the pool.

The noise from outside the hotel can be a pain from midnight til 2am but you can sleep through it.

Found the public areas of hotel nice and clean but the rooms left a lot to be desired. Very small rooms to accomodate 4 adults. Rooms were cleaned most days but eqipment in the rooms was not of a good standard.

No electric kettle, had to wait ages for kettle to boil on electric ring, fridge was old and tatty and toilets did not flush properly. Also had little black insects crawling around.

On the good side, we did have a room with a very nice view onto the pool area. Location is not for anyone with a heart condition or needing oxygen as it is located on a very steep hill.

I would say the hotel is located more in Magaluf than Palma Nova. Found that the holiday reps didn't involve themselves with people as much as they should have done.

I stayed in Barcelo Palma Nova. I Thought the cleanliness was excellent cleaned everyday. The location of the hotel is excellent just 2 minutes away from the nightlife and also just across from a family bar called oasis.

I enjoyed the entertainment every night, Katie Amy and Lisa done an excellent job getting everyone envolved during the nights entertainment.

This was my second year visiting Magaluf and staying in the same hotel, holiday is booked for next year for the same place and same hotel. One thing i would say is keep the entertainers, you wont find any better.

The hotel was fine it was a 2 ring cooker with a microwave.

Tthe fridges really need up graded. Food at the pool bar was fine.

Location of the hotel would be fine if it wasnt for the hill{sorry small mountain}. Most staff are very friendly.

The entertainment at night was ok but could be a lot better. There were a lot of young groups of male and female{17to25}so wouldnt go back with kids.

I have just returned from the barcello and I was very wary before I went as I had read mixed reports for this hotel on some sites. However, I have to say that we had the most fantastic holiday ever.

Couple of down points first... yes the hotel is on a hill, if you have trouble walking, then don't go to this hotel (not gained too much weight after holiday though, too much exercise :-)). Also, bear in mind that this hotel is near Magaluf and there are quite a number of large single sex parties that go and young adults too, but on the plus side of that, you can get a sunbed by the pool, because they only rolled in at 5 in the morning (trying to be quiet, but failing miserably some nights).

The rooms are fairly basic, but we never stayed in them long enough to really care. Would recommend that you take a travel kettle with you as one isn't provided. We had a gorgeous view of the pool from our room, the pool was cleaned daily, our room was cleaned and towels changed 4 times during our stay but our bed linen wasn't changed at all.

Children are able to help themselves to drinks, icecream and crisps from the bar (the cups could have done with being a bit bigger for the free kiddies drinks).

The hotel staff are extremely friendly and willing to help out and also have a laugh with you too.

I think the thing that really made our holiday great, was the entertainment team, so a big thanks goes to Katie Lisa and Dan. They were extremely funny, very encouraging of the kids (stacks of patience even with the annoying kids) provided entertainment and activities for both the kids and adults alike and basically made our holiday the fun holiday it is. The entertainment was provided throughout the daytime and into the evening too.

When you go on holiday, you have to make some of the entertainment yourself, you can't expect someone else to do it all for you, so if you are visiting the Barcello this season (summer 05) then get you ass onto the stage, dance your butt off to The Mimic Man and my favourite, The Court Of King Caractacus and be sure to say hi to Katie, Lisa and Dan with lots of love from Stacey, Darren, Dinger and Co.

We stayed there for a week in May this year, dont be fooled by the name as you are in Magaluf not Palma Nova.

Yes its on a steep hill and everytime you return back after a night out you are bombarded by touts, but the staff are very nice, rooms are ok but we would have appreciated an electric kettle, kids love the free ice cream and pop which we only found out about on the fourth day.

Entertainment never bothered with much as we headed away into Palma Nova every night which is only a short walk. Amarillo at 12pm around the pool side gets a bit boring after the second night.

However, some holiday makers were made up with the entertainment on an evening, as for the groups of younger ones, what a great place for them, they roll in at 5am and we enoyed waking them at 10am to go out!

The hotel was fine but on a very steep hill.

The only main problem was the noise the entertment started at 7 and went on untill gone 12 outside around the pool at an unbeleaveable noise level and then after that it was the noise from all the pubs/clubs that where on the doorstep of the hotel.

Have been to Magaluf many times but I will never go back to this hotel.

Other than that, the hotel and all round resort are great.

Loved this hotel! Good location (apart from steep hill).

Nice pool, cracking entertainment and food was not too bad for a buffet style!

We had 9 kids in our group so the kids clubs were well handy, 2hrs of peace! Loads of activities during the day if you want, like 5-a-side football, archery, pistol/rifle shooting and so on...!

The only moan about this hotel we had was that some nights it got a little loud with people coming back at 4/5/6 in the morning from the clubs! That aside, we would definitely be going back to this hotel when our kids are a little older!

Paul (Elvis) is a good entertainer! A big thanks to Katie and Lisa for keeping us entertained for 2 weeks.....very friendly!

Stayed in the hotel in September 2004. The location was good (apart from the steep hill). Plenty of bars and restaraunts around. All at affordable prices.

The size of the room was great although the cleanliness was a bit dissapointing. We had a poolside view which was really nice. Could be very noisy at night but after a few drinks we never really noticed it. Poolside snacks were reasonable although we chose to eat out.

Katy Lisa and Paul were really good, although I think the entertainment was aimed more at families with young children. They did a great job and encouraged everyone to get involved which created a good atmosphere around the pool.

This was our 3rd stay in Barcelo, (twice in Palma Nova and previously in Cala Vinyas,) & we will be going back again!! Barcelo Palma Nova is such an ideal place to stay for a family holiday,, and since last year the standard has improved 10 fold. It is cleaner, quieter, and improved all round.

The rooms are excellent, spacious, clean and lovely and cool with the air conditioning. The maid service is first class. Hotel staff all round are friendly and fun.

The food in the hotel is excellent, with a very wide choice, and reasonably priced. There are 4 pools, all clean, and never over crowded. There are ample loungers poolside.

The entertainment (animacion,) staff, are first class ! entertainment goes on from 10am, to midnight, and there is always something to be done, for both children and adults. From playing skittles,, to Rifle shooting. There are prizes, of cocktails etc,, and certificates, for daily winners of each event!! Both children and adults alike, love the entertainers. They are so,, so funny. They involve everyone in activities, without being "pushy". Some of the shows in the evenings are excellent. There is "mini disco" every evening for the children, before the adults (family)shows begin, and the children all love going up onto stage and singing and dancing, (so do the adults!!!) There is such a wide variety of entertainment, that you would never get bored with it. It is because of the entertainment, and the pools, which are clean and large, that we return to Barcelo Palma Nova. So, Paul,(Elvis) Lisa and Katie,, "keep up the good work",, you made our holiday a lot of fun this year !!!

Apartments were clean but basic, 4 people in an apartment only 3 of everything.

Only had 1 nights sleep as the noise from the clubbers arriving back at 4am was unbearable, and we were only made aware of a disciplinary procedure for those making a noise on our last day.

The hotel is at the top of a steep hill and when booked, First Choice travel agents knew we were taking an 82 year old, 84 year old and a 74 year old who found the trek up this hill very difficult, even we did, and we are considerably younger.

Staff were helpful.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here in July 2004. The location of these apartments is brillient. It is a five minute walk from the beach at just down the road from it are the bars and nightclubs.

We didn't go and watch any of the night-time entertainment but we could hear it from our balcony, fun for children as they had kids kareoke

The room was very clean. The maids clean your room everyday apart from Sunday and Wednesday when its there day off.

Beware of the steep hill! Easy going down it but harder to walk up it! The path can be slippy so walk on the road as there isn't alot of cars going up the road the apartments are on.

All in all a great place to stay.

The hotel was very nice and in a very good location for the beach, bars, cafe's etc. The pool area had a lot of shaded area's because of trees, good for some and maybe not for others. The maids did an excellent job. Staff in the poolside bar were very ignorant. The staff in the bar near reception were a lot nicer. The hotel food was just ok. The entertainment was poor I must say. One day a lady had her bag stolen in reception and when she asked about the security footage she was told that there were no tapes in the machines to record. How stupid is that !! Beer and food prices were very reasonable. Ice cream was expensive. Apartments were very large with adequate air con. Lifts were in working order. There was good TV area for kids to watch cartoons etc. There was an internet for €1 for 10 mins. The poolside entertainer was very good orgainsing killer pool, rifle shooting etc.

Three of us stayed here in july. Loved the holiday.

Close to towns main strip very handy.

The pool is clean and the pool side bar food is ok for a snack.

There is a Spar underneath the hotel which is handy.

The room was clean but basic.

It was rather noisy at night with people coming home in the early hours and not ideal for families with young children

on the other hand if your the ones that are going to be making the noise be careful secruity strict , you only get one warning and your out.

Great holiday! Definatly comming back

There were 19 of us on a lads holiday, and this hotel was in the perfect location for going out every night to the bars and clubs, which all were amazing as well.

Although it is advertised as ideal for families, there are a lot of groups like us there and I wouldn't want to go there with my family!

We didn't see much entertainment there as we were out every night.

The rooms were clean and they are cleaned most days.

The only thing is that hill when coming back for a night out!! Although it was pretty fun trying!

All in all, a perfect hotel for this type of holiday!

Hi there! Home after an excellent holiday! It was a great hotel with very friendly staff. I travelled with my mom, and we were there for 1 week. This hotel is an amazing place to meet other young people. The entertainment was excellent. Paul(Elvis)!!! (= and Sara did a great job to entertain all of us - at day and in the evening! Thanks to you guys..

The area outside was very clean. But inside - the rooms - we got a little disapointed.

We were self catering, and the first morning we ate at the hotel. And! (Oh my God, I don't believe it!) (= It was a great buffet.

There were 4 pools. There was a great and clean! pool, a children pool, a very cold! pool (= and the last pool, was just round! (= There were a pool for every size! For the children there were a playground and a Kids Club. For the youngs and adults, there were tabletennis and tennis.
Through the day, there was music and games, and in the evening there were different activities for example, karaoke, bingo, spanish dance, and BABY DISCO!! But hey. It was not only the children who danced, it was also adults and teenagers! (=

The location was okay.. It was near centre, BUT there was a steep hill.. It could be quite hard.. (=

Last but not at least, I will say thank you to Paul and Sara for teaching me and the other danish girls, how to dance MIMICMAN!!!! I bouhgt the tape, but it is not the same text, so hey.. Go get it! (=

See you next year!

We (8 of us) stayed there in June 04. The location to the nightlife is great. Just a 2 minute walk down the hill (5 mins up) Great access to the beach too. The pool is always lively, but never over crowded. There is a bar for snacks and drinks that are not too expensive. As a group of young men we were all running round rooms at night, so families should choose wisely if they want to stay there in high summer. The hotel staff are friendly.

The entertainment is poor... Paul (Elvis) is shocking! although some people enjoyed it. The pool games are ok and there are a few activities available too (Footy, Air Rifle, T/tennis)

The maids can be a lazy lot. It's just pot luck if you get a good one....

Overall it was a good place to stay.

Stayed in room 214. This is one of only six larger rooms on the complex and the sea view was wonderful. The hotel had only opened officialy one week before we arrived so they where doing maintenance jobs all over the hotel. Lifts weren't working at all and we had no electrical appliances in the room. Second week was better. The lifts where working and the entertainment was very good both during the night and day. Christian was the best entertainer! Say hi from angela and garry if you see him...! He was great fun. The walk to Magaluf and Palma Nova was tough on your legs. The hill is more of a steep mountain which can be very slippy when raining, and walking back up is very good exercise but also very tiring. Overall th holiday was good and pirates is a must see. We though Marineland was very small but entertaining, and didn't do any other trips than those mentioned. Oh yeah on the last day we received out kettle and toaster (just a little too late) but there you go...

Don't be fooled by the name, this hotel is nearer to the very lively Magaluf than Palma Nova.
Hotel staff and entertainment were very good. We booked this holiday as self catering, but upgraded to half board. The public areas were very clean, but we were disappointed with the standard of cleanliness in our apartment. Be warned if you are taking children this hotel can be very noisy throughout the night, with people returning at all hours. This hotel is advertised in the brochure as being ideal for families, it is also advertised on the agents website, as being ideal for adults looking for a lively holiday!! We have only praise for Sara and Joe the Barcelo children's entertainers who kept our kids entertained whilst we caught up with our sleep!

When we first arrived at the hotel, we were shocked at the steepness of the hill, (although the brochure did say there was one).

First impressions going through the doors to the reception were great. Clean and spacious. The reception staff were great.

I thought the apartment was a bit on the small side, if we were at full capacity it would be quite cramped. The view from our balcony was a real let down. (Facing a brick wall).

The pools were ok but were really crowded.

Our son enjoyed all the entertainment, day and night, but we preferred to go out.

The brochure said this was a family hotel except for high season. but we were woken up several times during our week stay by people coming in 3,4,5 in the morning and we were there in early June.

Returned from these apartments on 28th Sept 02, excellent.
8 people travelled, 4 adults, 4 kids, all for 14 nights. Daily entertainment was brilliant for all so clappy clappy to animation staff (Maria, Virginia and Sergio). Spar just underneath aparts and Florida II, excellent food and service. The nightly entertainment pretty good too. A few groups of youngsters but no trouble at all . A few restless nights but not for long. Pool area cleaned every morning and no trouble for sun beds. All in all an excellent time had by all. Going back again next year. Pirates is a must, Son Amar alright but a bit squashed. Everything you could possibly need or want to do is within walking distance.

AUGUST 2002. the hotel is clean and offers good daytime and reasonable night time entertainment. dont expect the atmosphere to be too friendly as most people tend to keep themselves to themselves. the hotel is on the top of a very steep bank, and in the middle of all the nightclubs. on the way back to your hotel you get pestered by prs asking you to go to their bar. great for 18-30s but i think places like alcudia or sa coma are better for families. a good hotel if you arent expecting luxury. a good base for all the action of torrenova and magalluf

July 2002. An excellent hotel in a prime position. Rooms are spacious and are well equipped with kitchen appliances, air conditioning, tv and balcony. The pool is big with plenty of sun lounges along with pool side bar. Loads of games and activities put on throughout the day. Magaluff nightlife is a 2 minute walk down the road, however the hotel is not on the main strip so you don't get all the noise etc. Was an excellent stay and would definately go back again.

If you want a very clean aparthotel whats noisy during the early hours then this is it . We had to buy earplugs to try to sleep during 3 till 6 , the hotel is clean the staff superb but If you are looking for hotel service in the food department then this is dissapointing .It will b the first and last time we go in an aparthotel because there is a limited choice of food as there was not many guests eating in as most were self catering , the entertainment was poor after the kids bit and they played the same tape each night

The pool is poor with a deep part of around 6ft for a 2 mtre narrow part good sun beds

The Brochure warned about Groups of young people using the hotel, unfortunately some were near us & were very noisy returning between 5 & 6am almost every morning, apart from this it was a great holidy our son (10) loved every minute, the Hotel has a very strange layout beware if you like to request a high or low floor the Reception is on the fifth level, entertainment on the fourth & the tennis courts & kids clubs on the third, some rooms the balconies looked onto the wall which is the side of the swimming pool area others faced a wall which was below street level & others looked onto trees with little or no sun.

The only thing that would put us of going back is the noise during the night the security man never seemed to be around at this time & several other guests shouted at the young ones the odd one threatened them after which they shut up but the problem was you were already awake.
We thought the entertainment apart from the professional shows was a bit naff but our son loved the entertainment all the kids did they were all at the front of the stage.
If you are going here don't put up with the noise dial 9 for reception & they will deal with it we never did this until near the end of the holiday, a few people were warned & did make less noise.

We stayed here in May 2002.the hotel is in an excellent postion for all the nightlife and both Magaluf and palma Nova beaches. One thing though is the walk back to the hotel is very tough with the hill and can be very tiring. We had a toddler in a buggy so this made it harder.Near to all supermarkets and resturants and Burger King is only about 5 minute walk down the road. The hotel is quite basic i would say.You will find it hard to cook in the room as it only has 2 electric rings and one or two pans etc.the entertainment of a night time is OK though of course the entertainment team are Spanish so sometimes they can be hard to understand(tough when they are doing a quiz or something like that). Was quite noisy in the hotel with people coming back in the early hours and making a noise even though they are not supposed to so that's something the hotel could crack down on.We we're in rooms 10 and 11 which overlook the pool on the balcony side and tthe road outside at the front door and these rooms were one one of the best.
