The Grand ideal has recently been extended and improved. We had 3 rooms booked and they did vary in size and standard but only slightly and were all more than suitable, all had air con. which was def needed as it was very hot!!!!
Very clean. Rooms cleaned and towels/bedding changed every day. Main hotel was exceptionally clean and tidy at all times.
There was lots of food available to suit all nationalities - it is Turkey so don't expect fish n chips!!!!
Hotel is just off the main road and the beach front so only takes minutes to walk anywhere, or there is a very good dolmus service that stops anywhere on request.
As usual staff in Tukey are always willing to help and are friendly and happy.
There is not entertainment every night but it is easy to walk out to find bars with plenty of entertainment, we were quite happy to just relax at the bar though and didn't mind it being quiet some nights.
Overall we had a great holiday and would recommend AI as the amount you need to drink due to the heat would cost a fortune during the day.We found it a very cheap holiday and only spent about £100 in the whole week!!

Me and my husband have just got back from the Grand Ideal and it was a fantastic hotel, we went on bed and breakfast and was allocated this hotel on arrival breakfast was fab it wasn't a full English but had a lot of variety.

They do a different menu each evening which was generally an open buffet which was 14 lira about 5.50 sterling we did only eat there on one evening due to their being a lot more variety outside.

We found leyla's restaurant further down just opposite majestic leather just jump on a dolmus for 1.25 lira which is approx 50p.

You could get a 5 course meal for between 13.50 lira which is about 5.00 sterling to 21.00 lra which is about 7.00 sterling which was generally soup, garlic bread, chicken or steak main meal, icecream and tea or coffee which was gorgeous most of the resaurants did this but leylas was gorgeous.

The hotel did do a special at lunch time at the pool bar which was approx 4 to 5 lira but had a menu if you didnt want that the omeltes are fab.

The pool area was great and the waiters were around all the time but the only way to pay was with a blue watch type band which you could have as pay as you go or you could pay at the end of your holiday personally we did pay as you go and would advise you on the same, the good thing about this is you dont need to carry any money with you when you are at the pool area.

The rooms were cleaned evey day and towels changed if needed the hotel itself was spotless the pool area was great, the hotel staff were fantastic especilly the reception staff.

The entertainment wasn't fantastic but was better than most but you only need to walk down the beach front to get every types of entertainment possible from micheal jackson to breakdancing hey you could even watch peter kay.

The hotel itself had a hairdressers. Jewelery shop, gift shop. Fitness centre, seperate bar at the front and best of all FREE AIR CONDITIONING! Which was fantastic as the weather was toching 50 degrees we were there for the heatwave which was classed as a weather warning it was BLOODY HOT !!!!!.

The hotel was on the main road but the pool wasn't which was good as a lot ot the hotels further in had their pools on the front it wasn't smack in the middle of everything but was only a 5 minuite walk down to long beach were all the entertainment began, but if you walk out of the hotel and turn left then left again and walk straight for a couple of minutes you will come to the beach where the sunbeds are free you just have to buy a drink from their bar we did this with Rambo who is lovely and brings your drinks to you and you can stay there all day if you wish.

We would definitely go back to this hotel.

Breakfast good. Food in the evening was poor did not enjoy most of the meals so decided to eat out most nights.

One night of entertainment in the 2 weeks that we were there (Turkish Night) and this was not good maybe as season progresses they will get better?

Beds in Rooms hard

Would visit hotel again but on bed + breakfast basis not half board

Staff were very helpful and pleasent

Just got back from staying in grand ideal what a fantastic hotel.

Room very clean and maid service every day to change sheets and towels.

Breakfast Turkish and continental.

Pool area very nice, waiter walking round all day with drinks trolley you could either pay cash or card system which we thought good as you didn’t have to carry any money you could pay it of at any time.

Entertainment good don’t miss Turkish evening brill.

Had some evening meals in hotel only 14 lira each for 3 course meal open buffet style you could go up as much as you wanted some people did.

Just walk down side street and you are on beach and only 10 mins from night life.

The hotel was mainly English people.

We are certainly going back as every one of the staff from cleaners up over could not do enough for you and were all very smartly dressed and polite. Which makes a difference

We have just returned from staying half board at this hotel. I can honestly say it was immaculately clean, the maid came in everyday with clean towels & sheets.

The food was varied and tasty.

We had our safety deposit box in our room and you paid for it, but got all your money back provided you didn't do any damage. The mini bar was useful too for my son's bottles.

The staff were all friendly.

There wasn't a lot of entertainment but probably as we were slightly out of season. The playground was nice and the pools very clean.

People were so friendly.

We stayed at this hotel self catering but regretted it as soon as we walked in the room. I wish we had stayed half board.

The self catering rooms are not shown in the brochures because they are 2 star basic rooms. I had to wash all crockery and cutlery before using them as they were so grotty, you dont even get a toaster, just a fridge, kettle and 2 electric rings, so you cant have your toast for breakfast.

Maids came twice in our week and did tidy as well as clean.
Bathroom was something you would find in an old caravan.

Shower cubicle which looked very un-inviting
the shower curtain was 2 inches too short, so when you stepped out of the shower the floor was litterally soaked.

We did ask for bath mats but never recieved them. Hotel waiters and animation team friendly
marmaris is very much a bargain buyers dream, ie. cheap designer fakes, which we bought quite a lot of which was good fun.

We couldnt believe how much hassle you got from people trying to get you into their shop or restaraunt,it really is as bad as people say, never known anything like it.

Beach was a waste of time, marina lovely though. Turkish night is definitely worth going to and go and book your excursions with marco on the beach front next to Geordies bar. Nice bloke(both of them)if you are thinking of staying at Club Seray forest dont bother there eihter as 2 lots of people we spoke to had been moved from there in the wek we were there.

Thats about it really...stay here half board not self catering as you will be disappointed.marmaris is not cheap to eat out either.

£50 for a family of 5 with 2 drinks each. then if you go in the bars its just as dear unless you have beer.£1 pint dont bother taking Turkish lira either as everything is marked up in pounds as they love the pound you will save yourself loads buy taking sterling HONEST I wish somebody had told me this as I had searched the high street high and low for the best rate.

Hotel staff very helpful.

We were moved to this hotel because there was a suspected outbreak of legionnaires in the hotel we had booked.

The entertainment wasn’t our type of thing bit repetitive but rooms were clean, and nothing was to much trouble for staff.

The hotel reps were very good fab holiday would highly recommend it.

I have just returned from a weeks self catering at this hotel.

I found the room to be of very poor quality. It stank it was badly in need of redecorating and had limited storage. Sockets were loose and dangerous if you have young children. Cutlery was rusty. Towels for drying were discoloured and bed covers was a rough to touch old blanket.

Would definitely not return to this hotel.

This hotel has self catering which we stayed b+b and
half board. After speaking to guests who stayed b+b or half board we realised that their rooms were much better but certainly not worth the 3/4 star rating it has.

On a brighter note staff at this hotel were very friendly sometimes to friendly if you have a impressionable teenage daughter. So please keep an eye on the waiters! This has not put us of returning to Turkey as it is a beautiful part of the world and I look forward t my next trip there.

p.s. When booking excursions book at with the local offices not the reps as we pain double the price. We were warned by reps that safety is not guaranteed but guest we spoke to said they had an excellent time booking locally and saved a hell of a lot of money.

The Hotel was very clean the staff were very friendly.

The rooms were basic but clean. As someone pointed out earlier the air conditioning was a joke ours kept switching itself off and when it's 40° it is no joke.

The entertainment team (Dan and Lisa) were exceptional they really worked there socks off to entertain us all every afternoon. I would definitely pay them a visit when I next return to Marmaris but I think I would stay somewhere different.

The food was presented well but became very repetitive we ate out after 5 days as the restaurants were very nice and not expensive at all.

We spent 2 fansastic weeks at the Grand Ideal and are still missing all the friends we met their. Our holiday was made by the Funtasia Animatrion duo, you know who you are and our poolside waiters. Yes one of us was persued but that all subsided and we spent 2 weeks have more laughs than you can think possible.

Yes the air conditioning was a joke and that when you took your key out the socket the eletricity went off but all of that became unimportant eaxh day around the pool and late night when the waiters took over the entertainment.

The hotel was extremely clean and even if you don't like the style of food served in the evening it was well cooked and presented.

We will definately be returning to Marmaris and The Grand Ideal

This holiday was a Thompson price breaker deal, so we did not know until we landed at Dalaman which Hotel we would be allocated. We were pleased to get this one as it looked really nice in the brochure.

When we arrived we were impressed with the Hotel, it is a large building, very modern and spacious and very clean.

The rooms were a decent size with plenty of storage, bathroom fine and had a shower cubicle. The balcony was a good size and safe although there was no table outside only two chairs.

The maids were in every day and kept the room spotless. The air condition was a waste of time and we had to sleep with the patio door open, the remote control for it was screwed to the wall behind a plastic case and you could only press on/off, you could not change temps or turn it up full, it also switched itself off after about an hour which was ridiculous in the middle of July!

Another thing is that if you want to use the fridge if you are B/B then be prepared to have your eyes taken out!! We asked to do this and were told that you 1st had to pay 30ytl to get the key to open it, then you had to pay for all the things inside before you could put your own drinks etc... inside.

Going by the bar prices which were expensive compared to other places we did not bother.

The pool area is nice, its clean but if you want a sunbed then be prepared to set your alarm early to get one, we only went to the pool once in a week for this reason.

There is a notice that tells people not to lay towels down to reserve the beds but it gets ignored and the staff dont do anything about it.

The lifts were getting stuck between floors alot, we were stuck twice and another man said he had been stuck 7 times, so watch out if you dont like small spaces, use the stairs.

We did not use the card system, we used cash, a few of the staff grumbled at this but I like to pay as I am going, you know where you are then rather than get a big bill at the end of your holiday.

The food I dont know about, we did stay B/B but we never made it to breakfast the times were 7.30/ 9.30
but going by what other guests told us we were not missing much.

Same goes for the entertainment, we did not stay around the Hotel so i dont know what it is like, we preferred to be out and about.

Most of the staff were nice with the exception of one of the men on the desk at night, he insulted me about my weight, yes I am a big girl and can take a joke but his comment was below the belt, my husband was furious with him and had some strong words to say to him, but I still did not get an apology.

Overall I had a good holiday but I would not stay at this hotel again, but it was mostly to do with the fact I prefer being situated further towards the centre of

Marmaris as this is where we spent much of our time, we found it quite a trek to get back to the hotel after a night out.

Well the hotel was clean thats about it. Beds very uncomfortable too firm like sleeping on a block of wood.

Took self catering option as planned to eat out just wanted bit of tea and toast in morning to kick start you, mmm no toaster, tea or coffee had milk curdling in it when added.

Pool area was pretty good and not far from beach either though needed to get about 7.30am to get towels out or wouldnt have got a space round pool.

Entertainment was shockaroony rubbish had few things, water polo, diving through hoops etc in afternoon which was ok but nightime was rubbish and price of drinks in hotel expensive.

Had a trolley and came round pool during day with drinks to by which at first thought was good idea but eg water was 250l for small bottle could actually get 10litres across road in Migros for 195l they were keen for you to buy from them thought kinda pushy.

They anounnced a happy hour one night started of from 10pm till last person at bar but kept changing it as day went on however decided to give it a go relax in hotel instead of goin out.

Chaos ended up when they had more than usual staying in for garbage entertainment from 11-12 buy one get one free but didnt stop there seemed everyone got first round ok but nothin but arguments with waiters who were normally round your table like ants but took a huge step back into the shadows come happy hour.

People arguing over what they had been charged pointing at watches and this was only 11.20 mind unbelievable thats just wee example.

They seemed to make up the prices as they went on could be charged two different prices for same round on same night and they were good at pleading dumb.

Hence used cash rather than hotel credit card system which you could sqare up after few days or that then you had no chance explaining.

Unbelievably lol still had a geat time out of hotel resort is fantastic and weather even better although with lira change was more expensive than was led to believe but would defenately revisit resort just not hotel.

It was our frist visit to turkey with our Baby, so a little worried...

The hotel was brilliant, very safe balcony, baby bath in room, very safe cot.

The hotel staff were very friendly and allowed my husbands family into the hotel (He is turkish)

The card system for paying for drinks etc was very good, it seemed to take us ages to get to 200.000,000

the rooms were very clean.

the only thing that was not very good was the entertainment.

We will definatley return, dolmus stopped outside, beach a minute walk away, migros 2 minutes away. perfect and very safe sercurity 24 hrs a day

This hotel is a little way out of the centre of town but that just adds to the appeal With the Dolmus willing to stop outside the hotel this was not a problem. We wre on a B&b basis and the range of tastes catered for was good. The staff were always polite and courteous.Maids came in each morning and made the beds and cleaned the rooms. The only minus were that the towels were dried outside and were rough to the touch. All in all we had a fantastic week here and cannot wait to return.

When we arrived we thought we were in the wrong hotel. Hadn't paid as much as it looked.

The pool was very clean staff ok.

There was a good system for paying for things i.e. drinks and food all went onto a card which, when you got the receipt had the new tally on. You could go to reception and pay this at any time.

They only gave toilet roll for first few days which was a bit annoying as having to shop for them was nightmare.

The entertainment was terrible (when it was on) but to be honest it was better not to have anything if you wanted to relax. They would play music around the pool and would play yours if you had cd's.

It was a walk to town but again this is a bonus if you like the walk after a meal and the bus stops were both outside.

The kids club was great as it used to be a super family the reps took all ages in together which was great for us as the kids would have been in different groups but could stay together. The club was on sometimes three times a day. They had a play room but had shut it down which was a shame even if they put up notices for an adult to stay it would have been great t keep the kids out of the sun.

All in all def go back some day great holiday.
