| said: This hotel was a lot further from Alvor than we thought ,not the 10 miniutes some people say,and having walking difficulties it was not easy to get into Alvor, yes the taxies were only $3.25 each way ,but you cannot use them for 6 weeks. The hotel its self was fine I would say 3 star, but the lifts do annoy you!
Drink was very expensive, why cant they keep prices down then more people would drink in the hotel.
We were on bed and breakfast that was fine plenty of choice, the only complaint I have is it was always cold.
Would I come back to this hotel the answer to that is a definate no.

| said: This was our 2nd visit to this hotel, and it was as good as the previous year.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. The view from the balcony was magnificent - well worth the extra for the sea view. We particularly loved the shower - it would practically blast you through the wall! Very invigourating, especially after a day on the beach.
The breakfast was fab. We had a different choice every day.
We didn't stay at the hotel in the evening, so can't comment on the entertainment. What I will say it that we were not disturbed by any noise at all.
All in all, a great holiday - one which we intend to repeat every year.

| said: The room had not been cleaned to a very high standard, when opening drawers they were sticky and the room smelt damp. The toilets by the restaraunt were not kept very clean, around the pool area there were some empty plastic cups in ash-trays which never moved during our stay. The food was average.breakfasts the same every morning although whatever time we ate morning or evening never once had to wait for a table always very quiet.Prices at the hotel were a rip-off especially for water there was nowhere near to buy any. This hotel is not a 4 star, the first hotel in years that we never had a fridge in the room or tea making facilities,no water on arrival not even a drink at the welcome meeting .Staff could be more friendly and smile more. the whole feel of the hotel was like a conferance center, every one on thier lap-tops every evening. We paid a lot of money for this holiday but felt it was a real rip-off and would never return.

| said: Stayed for one week, been to Alvor before. The hotel is quite old and not too impressive at first appearance but once inside it is extremely modern and large. Plenty of space to chill out in peace and quiet.
Exceptionally clean and maid service very good. We stayed on bed and breakfast and the breakfast was very good. Cooked food every day, fruit, cereals, cheese, ham, yoghurts, toasting machines.
We went to breakfast around 8.15 and plenty of tables available. Got quite busy from 9 so recommend eating early. Didn't have many dealings with staff but when we did found them helpful. 3 lifts working on our visit.
The other one being refurbed. Didn't stay in the hotel at night so can't comment on the entertainment. About a 15 minute walk into town but plenty of taxis available outside the hotel if required. 3 euros 90 cents fixed charge, very reasonable. Hotel grounds very nice. Lovely large round pool. Could have a 'proper' swim across the diameter and roped off to keep youngsters out of the deep part.
Plenty of sun beds and no need to reserve. Pool towels provided as well. Would recommend this hotel.

| said: Booked this holiday as a Thomson 4* HB AoA, guaranteed 1 of 3 hotels and were placed at the Delfim. Cost us £510 vs the brochure price of around £850, I'm glad about that as had we paid the top price we would have been sorely disappointed.
If this hotel is a 4* then Elvis is alive and well and living on the 16th floor. In comparison with the average Spanish hotels I would rate it a decent 3*. From the outside it resembles a 16-floor 70's council block and the large round, featureless pool area and many of the public areas date it to that time.
On the plus side the rooms look to have been refurbished in the not too distant past and they tick all the 4* boxes. Spacious, modern, nicely decorated, clean, well maintained, nice bathroom, TV with some UK channels and a large balcony.
We were placed on the 5th floor, no view to speak of, we requested a move and after some negotiation with the sour-faced, unwelcoming receptionist were given a room on the 16th. Magnificent view, although the balcony got no sun at any time (room 1616, all the xx16 rooms are similar).
The negative side of a high floor is that 2 out of the 4 lifts are not working and from other review sites this appears to have been the case for almost 1 year. This results in bad overcrowding of the lifts and a lot of noise from the motors invading the rooms next to the shaft, as ours was.
The restaurant food was good but not great, certainly not 4* quality. All very eatable, but bland, repetitive and consequently boring. We eat out several times to get some variety, the choice and price in Alvor is excellent, although the town is a good 1/2 hour walk, or taxi for 4 Euros.
The service in the restaurant was hopeless, it was common to go into the dining room and find no places prepared and then try to attract the attention of a waiter to do the necessary.
This reached a new low one night when we stood around for about 10 mins being ignored, I complained to the Guest Relations Manager and it sure improved big-time after that.
All meals are self-service buffet, chaotic grab-it-while-you-can in the morning, better in the evening. The breakfast varied from cereals/fruit to full-on English, although the bacon looked disgusting and the sausages tasted that.
The entertainment was mostly provided by the in-house amateur team, the usual miming to show-tunes, with the occasional professional act. Sometimes good, at other times dire.
The big plus point is the magnificent beach just a few hundred yards downhill from the rear of the hotel. Classic Algarve beach and excellent for swimming.
The opinions I have expressed were widely held by other guests who were as equally disappointed as ourselves. However, we at least had paid less than them so had some small satisfaction to balance it out. Had a nice time, will not be going back.

| said: Just returned form a great holiday to this hotel.
The rooms are lovely and spacious. They are well furnished and have lovely recently refurbished bathrooms. If you book a room with a sea view the balconies are a good size are the views are excellent.
The food in the restaurant is good and the hotel has spacious, well set out entertainment areas. The hotel also runs painting courses for any one who is interested.
The outdoor swimming pool is a good size. They also have a jacuzzi, steam and sauna. Although the indoor pool is not really practical (situated in the resturant), you are allowed to use the indoor pool at the Atlantic Hotel which is only 5 minutes walk away.
This is a lovely quiet hotel ideal for a relaxing holiday. Alvor is a beautiful quiet little fishing village which has plenty of stray but friendly dogs.
I would recommend this hotel and Alvor to anyone who likes it very quiet and who likes walking. We didn't find the walk into Alvor a problem, but some people did as the hotel is situated at the top a bank. However the hotel do provide a courtesy bus several times a day.
