The only reasons I would not go back to this hotel are that the location was not particularly good and the other is just because I like to try different hotels and resorts when I go holiday - I do not like to go back to the same place twice. There were always taxi's out the front and the hotel also put on a courtesy bus, but we always walked to Alvor or Praia da Rocha as it's not that far unless you're lazy or disabled! The rooms were lovely and really clean. Our room was huge as was the balcony! Our view was disapointing. We looked out on the car park which was a shame. We were self catering and only had one meal at the pool bar which was average. We didn't eat at all in the hotel restaurant because there were so many nice restaurants in Alvor and Praia da Rocha. The pool was lovely and clean and there were always plenty of sunbeds. The hotel shop sold the most amazing chocolate croisants! Yum! Wine and beer was quite cheap in the hotel shop, but cheaper from shops in Alvor. There was a jacuzzi at the hotel, but we never used it.

We stayed in the Vitors Plaza hotel from August 16th through August 31st. We had a wonderful holiday. The children really enjoyed the kids club and all the staff were fantasic. From the girls supervising the children to the cleaning staff everyone made our stay very enjoyable. A special thanks to Claire and Gina(kids club) who gave us a great break we won't forget. Nino and Vera provided great entertainment in the evening and we are also very greatful to them both. This will definately be a trip we will be taking next year. We have also sang your praises to the people back home in Ireland and recommend them to stay at this complext if they ever decide to go to the Algrave. A holiday is what you make it but without out you guys it wouldn't have been the same. Thanks again. Kathleen, Eugene, Shane and Kevin.

This is an excellent complex with everything you could want for families. The staff were amazing and really friendly and helpful especially nuno, vera, rosanna, pedro and carlos. They were really excellent fun and loved entertaining. The restauraunt food was delicious although we ate in alvor alot as it is a lovely wee place to stroll around and shop but we always came back to the hotel at night for the entertainment as it was so good and the kids loved it, there was minidisco at 9 and then vera or rosanna would take all the kids next door to mini club for 2 hours so the adults could enjoy there own entertainment. The maids came in daily to change towels etc. we will definitely be back next year.

We visited the Vitors Plaza with another family and were all very happy with the appartments. They were spacious and clean and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool is lovely with lots of grass areas to lounge if you dont want to get up early to get a sun bed. The only downside would be that the appartments are just a little bit too far from the nearest little fishing village of Alvor (aprox 35 mins walk - which would be fine if the paths were good, but they arnt !).
Taxi's are cheap though so its not a major problem. We would definately visit again and if I wanted to stay in Playa du Vau would stay in the same appartments.

This is an excellent hotel, with a fantastic pool, staff are extremely friendly and could not be faulted for their effort.

Day entertainment is good for the children and there is a small cellar bar/lounge for the evenings. The apartments have a supermarket and an excellent bakery although not cheap.
There is also a resturant although rather basic.

The apartments are large with nice balcony's and v clean.

It is situated between Alvor and Praia da Rocha which is the main drawback to staying here, although there is a courtsey bus it only runs twice daily and it's not practical to walk to these resorts with young children so Taxis are required. These though are cheap and arrive within 5mins.

Cannot recommend this complex enough.

Had my Mum who is 70 with us and she enjoyed herself immensely. Kids still talk about the place. Falcon reps brilliant. Claire and Rhiannon so good with the kids.

Overall the best holiday we have had.The complex is a credit to the management and well deserving od 4 not 3 stars

Apartment was spacious and clean were on ground floor with pool/playground view .

Restaurant was ok ate in it once a bit pricey shop wa also pricey in comparison to Modelo supermarket which was really cheap.

Staff were very nice visitor entertainers were mad & very funny kept kids amused. Bunker where entertainment held was too small and too smoky although there were non smoking & smoking sides , the non smoking you couldnt see much.

Clean, big ground floor apartment D004 with country view had all you needed. Staff really good and helpful ideal family accommodation. Mini-market had basics and prices were very reasonable, bakery was also situated at back for fresh croissants/bread/cakes etc. first thing in morning. Even though self catering ate in restaurant 2 nights no complaints and reasonable price, comparable with other restaurants.

Location good for a relaxing family holiday, pool was kept clean and tested regularly. people we talked to had returned time & time again, we will certainly look to come back.

Entertainment is a bit basic but there if you want it.

We spent 1 week in Vitors, having just returned on Thursday 31st August and here is our review!!

Vitors Plaza, although a short 5 minute taxi ride (about 4.50 euro) to Alvor, was probably the nicest complex we have EVER stayed in.

It is spotlessly clean, staff get up very early to make it so. Apartments are very spacious (400sq ft +), and very well stocked with a microwave, coffe makers etc...in fact all that you would ever need to self cater.
Independant water heater, so no shortage there. 2 air conditioning units in our room E104 and a very large balcony, accessable from both the kitchen/dining area and the bedroom.

The complex itself also was spotless, with a large pool and separate kiddies one. Entertainment was always available from about 3pm till late, with staff member Noo Noo a little mad.

There was plenty of kids entertainment, and also Archery and Rifle target shooting for the adults. There is a sand volleyball/ football pitch..and a tennis court. The snack bar/ mini shop and outside bar were all perfectly adequate. The main bar is located underground..a little small and sometimes a bit noisy inside, but not a biggie. The ONLY drawback, is there really should be a life guard on duty, the pool is 1.8m deep at its max...and its a very large pool.

Altogether, it is without doubt the nicest complex we have EVER stayed in and would have no hesitation in returning..it is worthy of at least a 4 star rating!

We visited Vitors Plaza in July 2006 and had a very enjoyable holiday.

Vitors Plaza was very welcoming and friendly.

We were very impressed with the apartment size and how clean and comfortable it was.

The pool was impeccable as was the the whole complex.

The restaurant was nice, very friendly staff as was the pool side bar but that closed too early each evening. It would have been nice to sit at this bar each evening as the bar downstairs was too small to cater for the number of people.

Entertainment was poor and repetitive. Kids Club and First Choice reps Dan and Danni were fantastic and very helpful.

We hope to visit again next year.

This hotel was spotless throughout, the staffs were very friendly and helpful, they couldn't do enough for us.

The entertainment is very poor and the bar is far too small for the amount of guests, if you happen to stay in room C004 take ear plugs, the noise from the stairwell and corridor was horrendous, drunken fifteen and sixteen year olds (the age limit for alcohol was sixteen) running up and down the corridor and stairs screaming and shouting until well past three in the morning every night!!

Avoid this room or any room on the ground floor if you have young children trying to sleep.

The snack bar shuts at six p.m. but if you are still by the pool it is not very good. The food in the restaurant is very nice.

We found the whole complex very clean.

The staff were all friendly and helpful.Entertainment could be better organised and perhaps some outdoor entertainment in the evenings.

The location means you need to spend around 10euros a day if you want to take a taxi into praia da rocha or Alvor for restaurants. The snack bar closes at 6pm which we found very early, the restaurant is quite formal.

Overall a great family holiday, would recommend it.

I agree with what most people have said about Vitors, very helpful friendly staff, modern spacious & clean apartments.

Pillows though are wafer thin & only supply you with 1 each, kids sleeping arrangments were in the form of a sofa, one sleeps on top, & a big box pulls out from under with a mattress in it, our kids are 15 & 17, so really this was not suitable for them. The had a most uncomfortable week.

We wish that we had been told about this.

Everywhere was always clean --- staff were allways jolly friendly helpful.

Restaurant food has improved over the years complex has been open and now I can't really fault it.

Entertainment is basic but allways good fun -- you are never forced to join in but if you are a bit hesitant take the plunge nobody will judge you.

Have visited this complex with a number of friends of different ages and every year it never fails to live up to the great time I have had previously.

The staff are now our friends and I'm trying to convert them to show the cricket on the snack bar tv screen --- paul have you worked out the googly yet(paul is only new staff member this year so that must say something about the place).

Vitor's Plaza is brilliant if you have kid's as there are no noisy clubs/pubs.

The pool's are spotless and my kid's wanted to spend most of the holiday in them.

The apartment was huge and airy with 2 areas of balcony overlooking the pools and very clean with fresh towels whenever you needed them.

We tried the restaraunt but food a little bland but the BBQ on a Friday is good value and food is good. I will visit again but will hire a car as trips can get expensive when booked at reception the courtasy bus is excellent as is the driver who is always happy and chatty.

All the staff are very helpful and club night is ok if not basic.Only real gripe is the pillow situation only get one and very thin!!

Couldn't have been better, The facilities were as the brochure. The rooms are large, we worried about air Conditioning, but need not have worried. If really necessary fans can be hired at reception.

Cleaners were obliging, one of the boys was ill on a cleaning day, and they returned on a non cleaning day.

All staff very helpful, a good supermarket.

Entertainment for the adults and children was well catered for, though we did think as another report stated a little disorganised. Try the BBQ on Fridays.

The food in the restaurant was OK, nothing special it looks as if it wants to be formal, yet the food wasn't special. Snack Bar was only open until 18:00.

Facilities provided surpassed most similar apartments.

Visitors is an excellent complex. The standard of cleanliness is second to none.

The apartments are large, bright and airy. We were concerned that with no air conditioning that we may struggle in July but with several large doors to the balconies. The apartments were very comfortable. The quality of the furnishing is high with a dining room table and chairs as well as a breakfast bar. The kitchen and equipment were absolutely spotless, as was the bathroom.

The towels were plentiful, fluffy and white and were changed, with the bed linen, on a regular basis. The balconies (we were luck to have two) were also furnished with the handy addition of a really good clothes horse.

The pool area was gorgeous and kept very well by the ground staff who also kept the surrounding gardens beautiful and the entire property to an exceptional standard.

The management and staff were very friendly and appeared to enjoy their work, always smiling and they kindly paid particular attention to our young children.

We did not eat in the restaurant, although it looked very good and we did not hear anything to the contrary. The snack bar was open from 10am until late and served the usual array of sandwiches, toasties, pizzas, burgers and chips, all of good quality if not particularly Portuguese ! The food prices were competitive as were the drinks.

The supermarket was well stocked and was comparable to the smaller ones in Alvor village. The fresh bread was lovely and a plentiful supply of newspapers too. On the subject of reading there was a bookshelf in reception with a selection of paperbacks, I arrived with two and read four, leaving all but the unfinished one behind - a lovely idea which was not abused.

The general impression you had of the clientèle was that they appreciated the efforts the management made to run the hotel to a high standard and did nothing to undermine this. The children were all well behaved and adults thoughtful and courteous. Maybe we were just lucky with our fellow holidaymakers but I think the ambiance of visitors helped. The atmosphere was calm but with a large pinch of fun thrown in for good measure.

The entertainment during the day was varied (water polo, volleyball, football, table football, skittles, mini golf, the Portuguese Donkey game !! etc) there were plenty of participants, young and not so young. The team worked hard to keep everyone motivated and although you were aware of their presence, as people who are not keen to join in with organised events, we did not feel at all pressurised into doing so and in the time spent at the complex it was enjoyable watch without being intrusive.

We did not spend a great deal of time in at the complex in the evening but what little of the entertainment we did see was ok but seemed to be a little disorganised (in their defence it is very difficult produce entertainment that is suited to people of many nations in one room). A nice touch was the evening entertainment for children. The nightclub was the basement and next door was a children's room with painting, drawing and craft materials as well as toys for the children to use. Several evenings a week from around 10pm, the children were supervised in this area, this allowed the adults a little time for themselves for the remainder of the evening.

As we expected the complex was slightly remote, situated between Alvor and Praia da Rocha with little between the apartments and either resort. We hired a car for the duration of the trip so this was not an issue as driving it only takes 2-3 mins but walking would be difficult with small children unless you are particularly hardy.

In short, we were extremely pleased with our choice of accommodation and would not hesitate to return to Visitors and would happily recommend it to anyone. Very good value for money and deserves far more than its 3 stars.

You really can't go past this, for accommodation. The apartments are large, clean and well furnished.

The mini market (on site) caters for almost everything.

The whole complex is scrupulously cleaned, it seems, every day, certainly the pools are.

The snack bar beside the pools, produce excellent lunches at a reasonable price. The restaurant is worth a visit (or two).

Vitors is slightly off the beaten track, but this in our opinion, was a bonus. There is a concessionary bus to the three beaches, and the taxis are there in a minute, and cost as little as 4euros, to the nearest beach.

The staff, we found were helpful and friendly.

Although we didn't spend a lot of time at Vitors, on an evening the barbecue on a Friday, was excellent. The food, the sangria, and the Brazilian dancers, followed by the entertainers, in the basement bar.

The plan is to visit in the near future, maybe late summer or early next June.

We stayed here the first two weeks of May and had a fantastic time.

The room was really well equipped and clean, as was the rest of the complex.

We went self catering and didn't cook a single meal! The hotel restaurant was ok, if a bit expensive for what was on offer. The mini market catered for everything and was reasonable.

Although the hotel was a bit off the beaten track, we didn't find this a problem and think it was probably a bonus as there was no all night noise to contend with. Taxis were cheap and plentiful.

The staff were great, particularly Bino and Chris (all round entertainers!). There were activities on offer day and night and the hotel bar had a family friendly atmosphere.

We stayed at Vitor's Plaza for 2 weeks from the end of May. This was our second visit, the first time being 4 years ago and we were delighted to see the same faces working there, the same excellent standards of cleanliness, food quality, lovely pool, safe, quiet surroundings, good kids club provided by First Choice plus Vitor's Plaza's own entertainers who were brilliant. Fernando is helpful, knowledgeable and not too hard sell - unlike most tour reps. I could not recommend this accommodation highly enough. My only slight criticism would be you can hear everything going on above, below and beside you - but it would be nice if other guests were more considerate and didn't move their beds around at 1 oclock in the morning! Also a non smoking policy in the public areas such as the bar and restaurant would be most welcome. I hate having smoke blown over me and it is particularly unwelcome where children are allowed to go. Other than that this is the best place to stay and we hope to go again in September.

A little out of the way but easy to get taxis which are cheap and no sooner have you asked reception to get you one and you are out of the door a taxi is waiting. Being out of the way means no risk of gangs of teenagers making a noise at night outside so excellent for families.

Do the jeep safari - I am a real coward and didn't want to go but we had Stefan in the open top jeep and we didn't stop laughing and screaming all day - he is just brill - my 10 year old just loved it and she is a girly girl so don't be worried and go for it - the best day of our holiday probably.

Zoomarine bit dated (but it was our 3rd time) but we swam with the Dolphins this time which was just brilliant - better than Discovery Cove in Florida in terms of the time you get with them.

Take some time to venture out into the real Algarve - even if you are a sun worshipper like me it is nice to get away and see the wonderfully simple way the people live and you can understand why they live so long and are so happy - we could learn a lot with our fast paced, materialistic way of life - the Portugese have got it just right, slow, easy, relaxed, eating healthily, enjoying the warmth - lovely!!

I love Portugal!

I went to this fantastic holiday resort with my family and knew that it was going to be fun from the minute I stepped into the reception area. The staff were very friendly and as soon as we got there (10 o'clock at night) Chris and Bino the entertainers were getting us straight up to sing on the karaoke.

The appartment was very clean with a great balcony area looking over the swimming pool. I shall warn you though, if you dont like freezing cold swimming pools dont even stick your feet in the water!!!!

If you have got kids then Chris and Bino will entertain them with activities throughout the day. They even make the adults join in.

The location isnt great but a cab over there only costs around 4 euros normally. If you have one excursion then make sure its the jeep safari. It costs a lot of money but believe me its worth it. The only rather bad thing though about the safari is that you didnt get long enough to look around the small mountain village.

If you dont like strong stuff then dont try the firewater. OUCH! Although your rep will probably tell you this, the staff at the restaurant will talk to you and sneekily put bread and sardine pate on your table. What they dont tell you is that you have to pay 10 euros for it!

Fernando was very helpful and if you have any questions then he is the man to ask, he will explain everything though at the welcoming meeting on the first morning of your holiday.

I really enjoyed this holiday and miss it like crazy. My family are booking for next year as well. A ten out of ten resort! If you are thinking just the adults are saying that they really enjoy it, I'm 13 years old!

Just spent a glorious week at the Vitors Plaza, weather was really nice for February.

Hotel was always clean & tidy, reception staff were really friendly, entertainment staff (Chris & Bino) were great, always trying to get you to join in even if you didn't want to.

There wasn't anything to do in Praia da Vau, but Alvor & Praia da Rosha were nearby, taxi only 6 euro, or car hire is fairly cheap.

We booked excursions at the hotel reception at a fairly good price, go on the jeep safari, great day out, try to get on the jeep that Victor is driving he's crazy, just hold tight!!!!

First rate aparthotel, have no qualms about visiting here.

Well appointed, spacious and immaculately clean apts... Even the TV had programmes you could watch, BBC 1, 2, and 4, not just the usual eurosport, news and foreign.

The on site facilities are excellent, the restaurant is amazingly good and cheap, we were s/c but visited most nights, although that was mainly because it is a fair walk to the others in the neighbourhood.

The only problem with vitors is the distance from other places, it is a little isolated and you would be better off with a car (if you can stand the mad Portuguese drivers) because the walk to the nearest places of entertainment is boring and hilly. Unless you like golf, most of the area is taken up with golf courses and golf 'resorts'.

Neither does vitors have air con which might be a prob in the summer, although we were there in Feb. and it was quite cool but gloriously sunny all week. We had 2 huge balconies overlooking the pool and they were suntraps out of the breeze.

First choice do a good standard of bargain trip if you persevere and book as late as you can, their website is quite easy to use and amazing deals pop up if you are not too fussy where you want to go. We paid a total of £312 for the whole lot for 2 of us.

Their rep, Fernando, is a good bloke, very informative and helpful without the usual hard sell.

Hire cars are the cheapest of all in the Algarve if you book on the net in advance. 83 euros for 7 days with Carjet. Do not book transfers, this will save £30, anyway it can take ages on a bus with all the stop offs.

We have just spent 2 weeks at Vitors and it was the best decision we have made this year to visit this wonderful complex. The staff and entertainment were second to none and the cleanliness for first rate.

The complex was constantly being cleaned but this did not get in your way at all. Bino and Cris the entertainers were brilliant at keeping the adults amused day and night as well as the children and would not pass you without having a word or two. Having two grown up daughters with us (22 & 17) it was a pleasure to see them smiling all the time and feeling completely relaxed with the surroundings.

The location was a bit of a distance away from the beaches and nearest fishing village but with only time on your hands this did not cause any problems. Taxis were available outside the complex at all times and the fare to Alvor, Praia De RochaVau and Portamao a standard €6 each way.

We hired a car for the second week from Auto Jardim who were very helpful and the car was spotlessly clean and with a full tank of petrol so you only pay for what you use. We don,t normally return to a resort again straight away but we had such a happy relaxing holiday at Vitors Plaza that we will definitely return.

We use the complex facilities for eating quite often as the food was varied both day and evening and very reasonable - the staff were very happy to satisfy your every need whether it be a snack or full 3 course meal.

This is a 3 star complex that deserves far beyond the 5 star rating. The staff either in the entertainment or bar|restaurant and reception work very hard at this complex sometimes never seeming to have any time off, Well done Vitors Plaza.

My girlfriend and I have just recently returned from a 2 week stay at Vitor's Plaza and I must say it was fanatstic. We were due to go to Bulgaria, but for matters various (i.e. the hotel not actually being built) we couldn't go and, to be honest, it was the best thing that could have happened to us.

The apartment was clean, spacious and had all of the necessary facilities that we would need. Whilst we didn't spend too much time at the complex during the day (there was too much to see and do!), it was a fab place! The in - house entertainment team Nuno, Phil, Bino and Cris were all spot on and really friendly people. Reception staff were also great and very smiley people. Carlos and Pedro were great barmen, and were always really funny.

Vitor's is set back from the main resort of Praia Do Rocha (about 30 mins walk / 6 euros taxi) and the same disctance from Alvor, a delightful fishing town with plenty of traditional Portugese Cuisine on offer. Some great excursions are available, and we recommend the 4x4 tour of the Monchique montains.

Overall, great hotel, great people and we can't wait to go back.

My girlfriend and I will certainly be returning.

Vitors is absolutely beautiful.

The rooms are immaculate, roomy and very adequate.

The food is really nice and a nice alternative to going into town. Although further from a town than I usually opt for, the pleasant walk of about 30 mins to either Alvor or Roche forms part of a pleasant evening, and a taxi back at £4.0 is quite reasonable.

The hotel staff are brilliant, with both day to day service, poolside and evening entertainment. Although not particularly professional, the entertainment is personal and inclusive, friendly and suitable for the kids.

I would definitely visit his resort again.

Vitors Plaza was a dream to us both. The whole complex was amazing - very clean, the entertainers especially Bino, Nuno and Cris were wonderful people had a great laugh.

The restaurant was amazing, Maria and Paulino were excellent waiteresses and the rest of the gang, snack bars, bar, club, smiley faces all the time. Receptionist spoke good English. Rooms were fantastic. I cannot fault this place everybody involved at Vitors Plaza am sure are very proud of themselves. I would definately go there again and again.

This is what a good holiday is all about, it's great for the kids, although I don't have any. This place is a BUZZ. Loved every minute of it highly recommended.
It was a pleasure - unfortunately I had to come home...

We had a truley amazin holiday at vitors plaza
the staff were so friendly, especially the entertainers nuno and helder, they really encourage every1 to join in and have fun. the activities for both children and adults is fab, as there are so many things to get involved with.
the bar staff were a great laugh particually on kareoke nights.
Vitors plaza is a fantastic place for family holidays and is by far the best hotel we have been 2.
The location is a bit of a let down however the hotel runs a day time bus servive and taxis are cheap.

The apartment was very clean and mostly brand new.
and yes we are most deffinatly returning in 3 weeks time the holiday in general was a fantastic one we will not be forgetting"!!!! its great!!! we cant wait to go back !!!

Best holiday i have personally had in donkeys !. Vitors plaza is lovely if a little secluded (car hire recommended) which can be sourced like everything else from the brilliantly helpfull receptionists who speak good English. Anything you need from tickets to the various attrations to bus timetables they give you with a smile.
The accomodation is very spacious if not ultra modern but clean. There is a kiddies entertainer and an on site supermarket which is obviously pricey but has everything.
Only one big problem with this resort - leaving to come home !.

This was by far the best complex I have been to.

It is quite secluded, but with a young family it was therefore quiet at night. A courtesy bus runs each day, and you can also walk to Alvor (which is gorgeous - lots of lovely restaurants/bars/street BBQ's etc).

The apartments were modern and really comfortable and clean.

All the staff were friendly and efficient. The pool areas were lovely and also kept really clean. Plenty to do for the kids.

Worthwhile hiring a car to explore the nearby beaches - especially Cape St.Vincent.
