| said: We arrived in Altinkum at 4.00am on the 25th, but the hotel we were in was terrible, it was very dirty, but because of the time we had to stay in there 1 night. the next day we looked around the town for a hotel to move to hotel Burak was the 4th or 5th hotel we looked at, we moved in straight away at about 10.00pm. It was a very clean hotel. I didn't eat the breafast, because i was always asleep haha. but the food around the pool was lovely just for lunch. the resturaunt food was delicious also. the location of the hotel is excellent, beach, shops, bars, resturaunts 2 minute walk. the hotel staff were so lovely and welcoming and always working hard, on our last night we had a little party with a few of them and had such a laugh, it was a great night, but a sad one too as we didn't want to leave the next morning. i would definatley visit this hotel again, would love to go back this year. i would recommend this to anyone. Big nose bar and Dolphin square cafe bar were the best bars around, lots of entertainment about.

Hotel staff we're friendly enough the on;y complaint regarding the hotel was the prices for food and drink were over priced compared to the surrounding bars and resturants.
The staff we're friendly and althought the hotel was absic it was very clean and linen and towels changed oftern enough.
I would reccommend this hotel to other travellers.

| said: We went to Turkey for he second time, but first time to Altinkum.
Turkey was experiencing a heat wave during the two weeks we were there so the Air conditioning was a God send! Not all roms have this so I would recommend you have it. The hotel is clean and over 4 flors witha spiral staircase and lift.
The female receptionist was very approachable and friendly but I found all the other staff male and intimidating. in the first week, a waiter would come and sit on my bed and ask if i wanted a massage. I would say no and he would start a neck massage!! My husband would always have just nipped up to the room or to the loo when this happened. It was awfull. He asked me also if i wanted to go to his room for a Turkish massage! Horrid
During the day the Bar man would play loud music and shout over the mirophone, not good if you want a relaxing holiday!
The Food was like microwaved quick serve food!
We liked Altinkum but not the Hotel.

| said: This was our 7th year in Altinkum but first at the Burak.
We would never stay again the breakfast was the worst. The rooms were normal for Altinkum the bed was so hard !!!
The hotel is in a great location on the main street just next to the beach.
The staff at the Burak were very pushy and did not like the fact that I knew what they were saying. We only went to the pool once it was very noisy and I hate being splashed with water when I'm just relaxing and lying in the sun.
We are going back to Altinkum this Summer 2007 but never again to the Burak. We just used it as a place to sleep !!
Don't think Altinkum is all the same this hotel is a bad example

The staff are very friendly.
The rooms are basic but very clean.
The pool area is small, but again is very clean and well kept.
Breakfast is ok, which is the traditional Turkish one. You can also buy a full English one, which just cost a couple of pounds. We had a couple of drinks in the bar, were the prices are not too bad.
You will be greeted by the staff as this is just how they are.
I have stayed here with my son and also my husband and feel very safe.

| said: We had the most brilliant fortnight here.
The hotel was immaculately clean; the staff very friendly; the location excellent - close to beach, bars, restaurants and shops, and dolmuses stop outside.
If you enjoy staying in the Ritz, then this not the hotel for you, but if you want clean simplicity and friendliness with excellent prices, then you will not fault this hotel.
If it were not for the fact that we want to see other areas of Turkey - just booked 3 weeks in Icmeler in May 2006 - we would have absolutely no hesitation in going back - which we will probably do in September 2006.
All in all, a totally great Hotel - if you go, give our love to Sue behind the bar, and tell her Anni & Jude will see her soon! And don't forget to eat at Nick's Place (just behind the Burak). The Testi Pot is thoroughly recommended, as is Betty's Hotpot!

The hotel boasts great pool facillties and entertaiment and boasts a great situation for both younger and older generations. The environment is in a great location for the beach and for night entertainment.
The evening meals are very nice and the staff are very helpful.
The maids cleaned the rooms everday which was nice and hygenic for us.
The hotel was also very cheap and a very relaxing atmosphere.

| said: We arrived at the hotel Burak in the early hours of the morning, and although advised by reception that the bar was open and we could get a drink, no bar stsff appeared and we eventually gave up and went up to our room.
This was VERY basic, hardly enough drawer/cupboard space, and although a double bed, only a bottom sheet. Pillows and a single-bed sized top cover were supplied. We had to ask for another so that both of us could be covered.
Although the maids made the beds every day, the towels were only changed twice a week. As we were showering every day, I had to wash and dry the towels on the balcony or else we would have been using very dirty linen.
The sheets were only changed twice in the two weeks we were there. It is enough to have to keep our own stuff clean, without doing the hotel's laundry too!
During the first day or two, we were constantly hassled by the waiters at breakfast to take half-board, and my disabled husband was constantly hassled when we were trying to relax at the pool.
One obnoxious waiter in particular, made some nasty comments in both English and Turkish, but as we have been visiting Turkey for years and have made a lot of effort to learn the language, my husband surprised him by understanding what he was saying. As our tempers were wearing rather thin, and to avoid any unpleasant incidents, we stopped going to breakfast and using the pool area. This was really no loss as the breakfast was the most basic we have come across in our many visits to Turkey.
We still got hassled every time we entered or left the hotel, and it became a real nightmare from which we just wanted to awake and find ourselves at home.
As the hotel is located close to the beach and centre, we used these facilities and spent as much time as possible away from the hotel. This was also due to the constant noise of the other guests on the floor, shouting, banging doors, running up and down the corridor, at all times of the day and night.
The staff at the Lobby bar and the reception were friendly enough when their regular visitors weren't around, but we just didn't feel we wanted to have more than the occasional nightcap in the hotel as the prices were cheaper and the staff friendlier in the other restaurants and bars in the resort.

Having been to Turkey before we new that the hotels tend to be more basic than in some other countries, but we thought the Burak was quite comfortable, everywhere was kept lovely & clean, and the staff were great, you could have a chat & a laugh with most of them.We would be quite happy to stay atthe Burak again.

| said: We have just returned from a two-week stay at the Burak and must say it was adequate if all you're looking for is a place to lay your head at night. Don't, however expect to get any sleep.
The second week a couple of families which arrived as a group with the children from hell. After the second day, I remarked to my wife that somewhere in England was a council estate which was very quiet. Every night around 3AM we were awaken by the shouting from one end of the hall to the other. Every afternoon the kids were running up and down the halls banging on doors.
We found the English woman referenced in other reviews to be very polite and helpful. Drinks were no more at the hotel than in many restaurants.
I can understand people's complaints about being groped all the time. This didn't happen any more within the hotel than anywhere else in the resort. The constant harrasment was wearing very thin by the time we left.

| said: We went here for a relaxing break but when we got there finally at 6.30am we were a bit disappointed with our room basic and bland hence the 2*.
Breakfast is 7am -10am, we caught a few hours sleep and didn’t't want to miss out on breakfast as we'd paid for it. Cucumber, tomato, boiled egg, goats cheese bread and jam...........wish we'd stayed in bed to have cornflakes or any fry up was £2.50 each.
The pool is a lot smaller than brochure picture and you had to be up early to reserve 1 of the 20 or so sun beds plus people from hotel across used it.
We had the family from hell or should i say mother flashing her breasts everywhere and had a mouth like a fog horn everyone had had enough of her by the end of the week.
The waiters are a pain always hassling you messing with my phone and when you left hotel they would ask where you were going and when you got back ask where you had been gestapo.

| said: We (me and my sister) recently (yesterday) returned from Alitinkum after a 2 week stay. Hotel Burak was a complete let down.
On our first morning we found when we went down stairs a number of workers were there waiting to great us and kiss us - we thought ho how polite these people are. Little did we no! They turned out to be an absolute pain.
Altinkum is a place where you get hassled to eat in the restaurants and to go in the bars for a drink etc.. which you get used to after a while but our hotel (Burak) proved to be an absolute nightmare. We could not step outside our rooms without one of the waiters popping up to harass us. We couldn't sit on our balconies (which over looked the pool) for waiters shouting and harassing us. They constantly hassled us to eat in their restaurant (Turan especially).
The constant groping and unnecessary hassle got so bad that in the end we had to run from the staircase to the front doors when leaving or entering the hotel.
Altinkum is a very nice place with a lot of wonderful people, wonderful beach and very hot temperatures. However, Hotel Burak is a definate no no if you are a woman (young or old) as the waiters (Ozzie and Freddie inparticular) are a complete nightmare.
The hotel bar wasn't very cheap and when they know you have had a few drinks the prices start to increase dramatically.
The receptionists are also very miserable and not very helpful at all. It seems that unless you are a regular visitor to the hotel and if you are not willing to spend 24 hours at the hotel they don't want to know you - quite bad considering it is an english lady who owns it with her turkish husband.
Avoid hotel Burak and their creepy staff if you want a relaxing, hassle free holiday.
Finally, the noise was unbearable, loud music starts at 7am and only stops at around 7p.m. then no music is played at all in the evening when you would most expect it.

| said: It was my first time in Turkey and Altinkum was great, but we were dissapointed with the Burak Hotel, The Staff (waiters)were allways hassling you round the pool and i fact we went to the Beach most times. On only 1 occasion did we go the Hotel Bar and make no wonder 2 quid for 2 apple teas, i know the hotel has to make money but make no wonder people were eating outside the Hotel. I also noticed those people on H/B were given a different Menu to those people who walked in off the street to eat in the Burak. the only good thing was the Maids who did a fantastic job, and the best bar in altinkum was Big nose bar - Nice one Eric and not forgetting Hero, Smiley and the Rest. Will defo go back to Altinkum, but not sure about the Burak.....

| said: My family and i stayed at the Burak. We found the hotel to be in an excellent location near to the beach but that is all it had going for it. We have two daughters 14 and 12 and for the whole two weeks of our holiday they were being constantly harrassed by certain staff in the hotel, one in particular was Ozzy who worked in the lobby bar, he was an absolute letch and kept patting my 12 year old on the bottom every two minutes which made her feel really uncomfortable. We didnt spend much time around the pool we mainly went to the beach as we didnt like the constant hassle around the pool from the staff. Because we didnt spend much time in the hotel and refused to pay their extortinate prices for their drinks we were pretty much snubbed. The food was ok, but every time we went to sit down for our meals one waiter in particular, (I dont know his name) would come and sit at our table harrasing us which made us all very uncomfortable. However while there we purchased a wonderful brand new 2 bed apartment with swimming pool, at least when i go back over this September i wont have to stay in a hotel. All in all Altinkum is a wonderful place but i would not recommend going to the Burak especially if you have young teenage daughters. BEST BAR BIG NOSE ERIC'S, it's great !!!!!!

When I was in altinkum I went out clubbing with freddy, ismail, vedat, chef deniz and sometimes turan. The hotel I found quite nice apart from I would have liked to watch English TV.
When I arrived Freddie carried my bags to my room he was very welcoming all the staff were.
Going over next year for 3 months with my friend and we can’t wait.

| said: The location of this hotel was spot on, close to the beach, the nightlife and the markets. The pool was very nice and I enjoyed lazying away everyday beside it while having a snack to eat. Although there where some aspects of it that needed to be considered. It was very slippery and the steps needed to be replaced. There was a turkish night which to be honest was utterly ridiculous. Half of what was mentioned about it wasn't even in it, and you have to pay for it. The food was OK but staff taking orders got mixed up at some point. Some of the staff was very nice and entertaining but a couple were just a joke. Our rooms were cleaned daily, which we was pleased with but not with the fact our stuff had been moved about and even used as we had an incident where a cleaner was spotted using someones perfume. At the hotel there is a lift but this kept on breaking down with people inside it. This became mostly a daily problem on our holiday. With all these facts put aside though the presence of the hotel was very nice.

The staff were fun apart from some who used to hassle you a lot. The best two staff were Freddi and Alex.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone because it is really good. I will be going back next year hopefully but I am going to Marmaris in the June so might return later in the year. We really enjoyed it.
The best bar in Altinkum is the Swan bar we went there every night it was great.
The staff in the hotel Burak was really friendly and tried to help if they could.
The only thing wrong was the food it was not that nice and whenever we eat anything 1 staff I don't his name used to go off it but apart from that it is great.

Really nice hotel, rooms cleaned very well everyday, food was great if you just wanted a snack while sitting by the pool.
Very good location as it wasnt far from the beach, shops and night life.
The staff were always helpful and kind but could annoy you at times when you were eating.
The entertainment wasnt too good as all they did was play the same songs over and over again. Turkish night was not too good either.

| said: I have been visiting Altinkum for 10 years now and stayed at many hotels and apt in the town. The Burak is one of the nicer ones. Staff are always friendly and eager to help.
One complaint is that a British woman has taken over the bars in the hotel and prices have inceased and the measures decreased, more like a british pub not the normal free flow we're used to.
Apart from that, ok hotel.
