Only one thing, always check your bar bill, we had extra drinks added on top - not impressed!!
Albeit that one thing we would surely go again.

Cockerel only bothers you if you have not had enough to drink. Excellent restaurants nearby. Near to dolmus or a good walk to the front. Always got a sunbed any time of day unlike some hotels in marmaris limited food behind bar but takeaway service from sister hotel. 21 of us in our group and all enjoyed it and would definitely go back.

| said: We stayed at the Seren Apartments on a self catering basis. The apartments were fairly clean. The bathroom and shower area was fairly grotty and looked like it could do with a good clean. The toilet bowl was caked in brown limescale. The drainage in the shower was not sufficient which resulted in the floor being flooded every time the shower was used. Beds were made on a daily basis and the room was always left tidy. Linen was fresh on arrival and was changed once during 7 days. Towels were not changed at all! The apartments are situated a good 20 min walk from Marmaris centre which was not ideal, however there was a regular bus service. The staff all seemed friendly enough, not very organised though. The bar ran out of Barcardi and lime juice during my stay. Also, if you decided to put your drinks/food on a tab to settle at the end of the day - the total did not seem to tally with what was actually ordered - not sure if this was intentional or not! There was no entertainment - the bar stayed open as long as people were drinking - often until 6 am - not good if you wanted to get to sleep before this time!

Micky and Charlie couldn't do enough for you, very friendly. The appartments are situated about a 20 minute walk from the beach or a 5 minute dolmus ride which are very frequent and can be caught at the end of the road. The local bars and shops are very close and very good value. All in all a good place to stay.

| said: After reading the reviews, my friend and me were slightly worried about staying here.
However, i dont know why people have so much to complain about. It 2 star apartments, so you are getting what you pay for and what you expect for this board basis.
When we arrived, it was around 6 in the morning, and the man at Reception, wasnt very helpful, which gave us a bad impression. However this soon changed, as he, Chantelle (other Receptionist), and the bar staff Micky and Hassan couldnt have been nicer and more helpful!!
The rooms are very basic, but thats what you can expect for 2 star. The rooms are cleaned every day! During our two week stay i think the sheets were changed 3 times, which is more than i change mine at home, so that was acceptable. The only thing was we wernt sure if the towels were fresh, so we asked Chantelle for clean ones, and this wasnt a problem.
The location isnt too bad. When you go to the end of the road, youre onto a main street full of bars, resturants and shops. And i'd say it would be about a 20/25 minute walk to the beach front where the nightclubs and bars are.
Overall i loved the holidays and the Seren Apartments helped that. Deffinatly going back. LOVED IT!!

| said: The Seren apartments are a 2 star, and basically you get that... for what you pay for it is very good. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis, and although linen / towels not replaced everyday, you only had to ask and it would be done for you. The location is very good, just off the track so quiet but only a 10 minute walk to bars / restaurants etc...
The staff are the best.. Micky, Chantelle, Hassan.. really work hard to make your stay good and are great with kids. There isnt any entertainment put on for you, but had plenty of laughs with nights at the pool, with everyone staying there. Would definately visit these apartments again. Very good for a family holiday.

Had clean linen, towels every few days. Apartment was cleaned EVERY day..
The apartments are maybe a little run down but this is not the fault of the staff. The way I see it you get what you pay for!!
The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Micky still there from last year so was great seeing him again. You have any problem he'll do his best to help as will Chantelle. There isn't entertainment but the staff are great with kids..
There are plenty of restuarants nearby and a dolmus to take you into Marmaris every 5-10 mins.. You can buy food from the bar which is good or go to their restuarant at the Seren Sari.. They will provide a car to take you in style!!
We will be back again..

| said: We booked seren then looked at the reviews, but we thought it cant be that bad..well yes it can.
When we first got to our room we took alook around. The patio doors wouldnt open without force and once open wouldnt lock.
When we eventually got on balcony the only veiw we had was of chickhen farm, with nasty smell coming from it. Then we saw the toilet it hadnt been cleaned and was stained at bottom.
For a week we had the same towels and linen, and the linen had holes in and were too small for the bed anyway.
To top our holiday off we had money stolen among other things and we werent the only ones. And these incidents always happened during the day.
As for staff they couldn't have been less interested and unhelpful. i will never visit this hostel again ...i mean hotel.

| said: The Seren apartments were clean and tidy if a little basic but so are most self catering apartments in Turkey. The rooms themselves were clean and spacious. Reception stated clean towels and bedding twice a week but we had clean linens every two days.
The pool are was good but could imagine it may become cramped in the height of the season.
The hotel is on the outskirts of Marmaris but there is a regular bus service into town which costs very little although the restaraunts around the area are also worth a visit.
The staff and the hotel were very friendly the receptionist would help in any way she could and the bar staff always had a few minutes to chat or to amuse the kids.
The lack of entertainment did let things down although there was a Turkish night held in a sister hotel which had transport supplied if you wanted.
I would reccomend this hotel to anyone who wants a family holiday to Turkey.

| said: when we booked and then read the reviews, we were worried to say the least.
we found all of the negative reviews either grossly exaggerated and inacurate and completely disproportionate. Admittedly this is not the Hilton, but honestly our apartment was spacious clean and functional. we could not smell any farm animal but on occassion we did hear the odd cockrill. the staff were absolutely brilliant, helpful and personable. The food was good, tasty and well presented(they would even order you takeaways and bring them to your room). The pool was clean you didnt have to fight for a sun bed. you can catch the local bus into the town centre 200mtrs from the hotel. this really was the best holiday we have ever had and plan to return in september.

The man who checked us in wasn't at all friendly.
We were in the basement. We walked into our room and all we could smell was stale cigarettes, the bins had not been emptied and the linen was filthy. We were disgusted at the state of the room so got straight on the phone to our rep.
The beginning of our first holiday togther had been ruined we were so disappointed! We were moved to a different apartment within 15 minutes by our rep.
We would not recommend this hotel to anyone, however we would return to Turkey as we really enjoyed our stay after we moved to a new apartment.

The stink was unbearable so we had to fork out for air con as we were unable to open the windows or balcony door. The longer we stayed we realised how bad it was.In a week we had one linen change and one towel change, when we asked to change them we were told ok tomorrow, but it never happened. We had 2 16yr old girls with us who were afraid to go out in the morning or go home at night because of the night porter who was to hands on for their liking. The rest of the staff were pleasant but were not very helpful.
The + side was that the pool and surrounding area were ok an were always clean. You always had a sunlounger available and the prices at the bar were reasonable.
I would never go back to these apartments again but will return to Marmaris again as it is a beautiful resort.

| said: We stayed in seren apartments this september and although we didnt love our stay there, we also didnt hate it either.
The main things that spoilt our stay was the cleanliness of the apartment (lack of), the loud roosters (All night) and the loud music from the downstairs bar. During our check in, we were told that somebody else was in our room but they did have another one for us, which was good news.
We had arrived and expected a complete mess (having read previous comments on the apartments). But what is important to remember is that it is only a 2 star.
Our sink was continually blocked and we had a problem with ants on the kitchen surface, also we could of benefitted from a toaster. The cleaners did come into our apartments about 3 times in the one week we were there but did not clean, they would simply make our beds (not change them). We did not have any clean towels apart from our last day. Our apartment was at the front of the building (rm 301) above the bar and the pool.
I would not recommend this room as the noise from music and people drinking for most of the night made it really hard to sleep.
We came to dread the evening in anticipation of a sleepless night - then when the 'kiss fm' style music had stopped the roosters would continue (they are very loud) and earplugs were next to useless.
The staff were friendly enough always making an effort to talk and the cleaners would smile, however, if you want to be left alone and not talk to anyone - it wont happen here. We did not complain about the things in our apartment so do not know how helpful the staff are in that respect.
The apartment is about a 5-10minutes by bus but this was not a problem as it was away form the hussle and bussle of the party part of marmaris. However, this ok for a 2 star and if you can deal with the things I have mentioned then enjoy your holiday.

| said: we got there at 5 in the morning and it looked like someone had checked out our room earlier in the morning as there are people who leave at 2 am and the room had only had a quick once over. it looked like they had made the bed but not bothered to change the sheets before we went into them and the same with the towels. we had to moan constantly to get the room cleaned, clean bedding and towels plus even for them to empty the buckets in the bathroom. this was left for days if we did not ask for it to be changed. the roomattendants where more concerned about smoking either on the stairs or on the balcony when they where suppose to be doing the rooms or they where on there mobiles. plus our toilet was only cleaned once in the whole two weeks of the holiday. it was a nightmare having to moan all the time to get things done. the appartments are only a 2 star but i would have to say i would struggle to give them 1 at this time. on the good side though the bar staff where great and made our time there ok while not in the rooms. so thanks to eddie and the guys thereps only ask eddie to cook as the other are not as good as him. if it was not for the constant having to moan to get things done then i would have enjoyed my holiday more as this was the first time i had been to turkey. it has not put me off going back there but i will never stay at this place again as it was very bad and felt bad for ibo as he was the person who got all the moaning for us as well as the other guests

| said: When we first arrived we thought the apartments looked ok. Our room was spacious. We paid for air con which in our room worked very well, however my sister who also stayed at the apartments, did not even though they had paid the £40 for 2 weeks and this appeared to be the case in many of the rooms on speaking to various holiday makers. The cleaners did very little. The beds and towels were to be changed, according to their sign, every 4 days and the rooms cleaned daily. This was not the case. We had to ask to have it done/ and there were no pillowcases and when I asked for 3 we were given ones from another apartment. The shower room was not cleaned at all in the 2 weeks I was there and the bin which should have been emptied every day was sometimes left without being emptied. The shower head was badly cracked and the water shot out in different directions. This didn't get replaced, despite being reported the 1st day until the water hit the bare light buld and blew it up. There was glass every where - not good in a small shower room! This was the day before we left!
The staff, Eddie, Sam Alex and Ibo were great though although we had the scenario of them never having 5 lira change!! We did have great fun with them though, especially my daughter, neice and nephew. A big thanks to them.
It is a shame that they have let these apartments get into such disrepair as they are in a great area and have the potential to be really nice if they had a little upgrading and got cleaners who wanted to clean rather than sit on stairs and smoke and talk on their mobile phone.
The sunbed hogging was a real problem too. People are allowed to put there towels down over night and it ended up that people just did not take in their towels at all so even if you got up at 6 there were no beds to be had anyway. Most of then sat empty with towles until well after lunchtime. Maybe something they should look at.

| said: We arrived in tukey at the Seren apts to be told they were overbooked and there was no rooms for us, we were then taken to the hotel. When we got there we were given 3 rooms on different floors. one of the rooms on top floor the balcony door did not close properly and curtains hanging off. the other 2 rooms were no better, the carpets were filthy. we refused these rooms and were eventally given rooms. in their hotel next door. they were slighty better but as we had 2 teenagers with our party we wanted to stay together.we spoke to rep who was of no help.we eventually were given rooms in apts 1 week after we arrived, but then after agreeing to take rooms, we were then told there was only 2 rooms available that day and 1 the next day which we could put up with. tha next morning after guest left, we were then told still no room. 2 days later after a lot of complaining and telling receptionist, we were getting in touch with british press, we finally got third room. The other 2 rooms 1 had a big tank outside the door and the other room had no fridge which they kept promising to change. no bin or glasses etc. we found out on our last day that it was the room staff used and had no intention of fixing fridge. the 2 weeks we were there on an almost daily basis, we saw guest arriving to be told they were overbooked and be taken to the hotel.

They do not have any double beds only put two singles together. bathroom never touched throughout, beds changed twice both when moved rooms. Staff cooking and serving food with cigarette in mouth.they ask you to run tab up at bar then add lots more on your bill. The staff are freindly at start depends how much you spend at bar,Keys and passports left at recepion which is outside and anyone can take them,or look for personal details. Night staff always asleep during night and always away from reception, so left for anyone to have a look or take keys and passports.Micky,Eddie,Alex ok but can be very abrupt if not get own way. Owners total waste of space do not want to here about your problems. Owners wife comes every morning at 8.00 am to collect money, tried to speak to her 9 times very ignorant woman. Met alot of people there,Daz,Viv and family from south shields, and all the Sea Cadets from Liverpool and Hull, had some fun with them was sad to leave they gave us great sending off. Gill, john got embarressed you giving him kiss boarding bus.

The rooms where clean and spacious and although the air con was only in bedroom it cooled the whole apartment. The staff where excellent and couldn't help you enough the pool, bar and reception area was always clean and tidy. there was a problem getting sunbeds but we just sat at the bar area or lay on the decking. The staff gave us a daily dance around the pool and had a pool party a few nights. The dolmus(bus) ran about 150meters from the hotel which costs just 1 YTL and ran from about 7am until 1am so getting into marmaris was no problem. 2 of our party stayed at the rosy apartment which has far better reviews but even they had to admit the seren was far superier.

| said: Hiya
I just came back from 1 week at Seren Sari. I was moved there after I arrived at Goldstone Hotel and they had no record of my booking. They walked me around with my luggage to 5 different hotels before they could find me a room. I was not impressed as you can imagine!
The hotel was disgraceful. I have used backpackers, B&Bs and luxury in the past. I don't generally care about accommodation as long as its safe as I never plan to be in it besides from sleeping.
The air conditioning is expensive and unreliable. The noise from surrounding bars is pretty loud but I guess that's just Marmaris for you and I hadn't realised how touristy it was - much to my dismay. There was dried blood on my bedsheets, the curtains were ripped and the worst part was that the doors didn't lock or close properly so I didn't feel very secure. Luckily I was on the top floor so the view was fab (ask for room 501) and if anyone did want to break in it would have to be one of my top floor neighbours.
Whilst there I heard several people complain about the reception staff. I had absolutely no problem with them and found them very helpful and friendly. I did witness quite a few people shouting at them and generally being very rude as their English isn't 100% however they are Turkish not English so you if bear that in mind and be polite they will treat you with utmost respect.
The lift is tiny, the stairs are fine however at night the sensor lights didn't work properly so often I was hugging the railings on my way down/up the stairs. And the carpets are coming up so you have to be careful not to trip.
Food is OK at the hotel however I am not a fan of eating British food abroad as I like to try the local dishes. I found it almost impossible to find anything authentic and I found Marmaris expensive and on par with UK prices.
There is a supermarket about 500 metres from the hotel so you can buy food/water there for the day. I would recommend this because a 50ml bottle of water anywhere in Marmaris is about £1.50 - in the supermarket is about .20p.
I would suggest getting a bus to Icmeler and spending the day on the beach there as the water is so much cleaner than Marmaris Bay and there was less pushy retailers.
Please be careful of the Turkish Baths also - I had to stop mine half way through as whilst being "soaped" the guy decided to try and put his hands inside me. I think this was because I was by myself with no male "chapereon" but if you are doing it by yourself just be warned.
I have travelled most of the world solo (am 32) and am very aware of the pitfalls of travelling this way however prefer to do it rather than not travel. I would never return to Marmaris as I found it my worst nightmare come true. However if you are looking for sun, night life and relaxing on the beach - it will be perfect.

Best thing about the holiday was spending time with the barstaff (Micky, Eddie & Sam) They were great and soo much fun, always there to help you.
I think the hotel is worth more than 2 stars.
Will deffinetly be back next year!

| said: Hey this is Shaun, been back home for a while now and would just like to say this was THE best holiday of my life!!!! I had so much fun.
The hotel is nice and small and so it is very easy to make friends with everyone there. By the end of the holiday there wasnt one english speaking person at that hotel I didnt know and like.
The staff(Mikey eddie and sam) were amazing all of them up for a laugh and all of them treat you with respect. This made time spent at the pool very fun. They play games with everyone there such as throwing each other in and games in the pool like collecting things at the bottom(sounds boring but was VERY funny)
The actual hotel although it is small is still very nice Iwould give it more than two stars.
The only bad thing about this holiday was having to go home!
I would recommend it everytime!

The rooms are cleaned almost every day and fresh towels every 2nd day.
You can buy cooked food at the poolside bar. My kids enjoyed the food and it was cooked well. Also the bar is linked to the Seren Sari restaurant so meals can be ordered in from there.
The bar staff were different from last year but Micky, Eddie and Sam are great. They made the holiday so much fun and they would do anything for you. The kids loved them.
We will be back again. Hopefuuly the bar staff will remain!!

Pool wasn't cleaned, every day children got infection broken light inside the pool left dangling by the live wire, broken tiles around the pool so the children could cut and probably break a leg.
Cleaner changed sheets and towels when she felt like it, management were rubbish, hey we are not posh but hey come on they are taking the mickey.
The rep for holidays 4u was poor didn't care, but the people who stayed there were great.
Up to you people take your chance but this is'nt 3 star more like 1

The staff and holiday makers were all great. We couldn't have asked for better people.
You can walk to the beach but its much easier to hop on the dolmus and its very cheap.
There was no actual entertainment while we were there but the staff were entertaining enough!
One tip I would pass on, remember to take some ear plugs as there are a few chickens near hotel and you are sure to get a 'cock a doodle doo' alarm call quite early on!

I say a big hello to Aytac Serkan and rest of you guys we miss you loads and had some great fun.
Didn`t like the sheds at back of Seren apt bit wiffy especially cow shed it stunk. Its in a quiet location just off a main road but easy reach for dolmus and few good restaurants esp elvis bar had good food there a few times.
Met a few families while we there. Kids loved the pool its a decent size but the bar needs to move from the pool side bit dangerous especially at night not lit up most of the time and wen you`ve had a few you could easily have an accident.
Rooms basic not very good bathroom always flooded and stairs to rooms were steep and winding. The lads did their best and would help as much as they could
so I`ll go now and hello to anyone who was there same time as us.

What made our holiday was the lads who ran the place Rambo and the lads they could'nt do enough for you at any time of the day.
The rooms were cleaned ever day and you could leave money in the rooms with no hassle. The pool was cleaned every morning and was inspected by the boss. Infact I cant grumble about anything there its in a quiet area but not too far from town.
We as a family loved it and my kids were sad to leave and if they are happy we are happy booking up for next year and me and the wife are going alone in September. Plus a great group of people there Scousers, Geordies and even the Cockneys - thanks to everyone who made our holiday.

The room only had 2 ring table top cooker with no microwave, oven or toaster so we could only make minimum meals. No freezer in fridge.
Cost of safety deposit box and airconditioning sets you back £70 for 2 weeks.
Cleaner came every day but did not make much difference.
Not well situated for families. Need to get bus into marmaris centre.
No entertainment at all. Staff friendly but very noisy during night playing music and playing pool outside bedroom door.
Bar area too close to swimming pool which is a danger to young children and those who have had a few drinks.
We will not be going back to these apartments.

| said: Hotel was very basic but so is every hotel in Turkey, and hey, you don't go on holiday to stay in the hotel all day, it's just for sleeping in right?
The cleaners were very efficient, even coming back later in the day if we had a lie in and prevented them cleaning early.
The staff were very friendly but only entertainment is a CD player, blasting around the pool bar, day and night. Luckily we were at the back so it didn't disturb us.
We overlooked the small farm which only mildly smelt (like English countryside) but we were a few floors up so perhaps didn't get the full whack. It was interesting to see the family there working and eating etc. The lecky and water went off occasionally but only for a few secs, as all over Turkey. 3 times one night whilst were in a restaurant(lecky).
Takes about 20-25 mins to walk to the beach and water park,as we didn't rush....too hot.
Would not go back as like to try different aparts each year no matter where we go.

| said: My first impressions of the Seren Apartments were not very good. The place seemed empty, very few people if any were about when we first arrived, which was roughly about 7.00pm.
The staff seemed very cheerful and quickly showed our party to our apartments. My apartment seemed very spacious, I didn’t have time to notice if it was clean or not, because my daughter opened the balcony door and guess what, the balcony itself faced the dreaded pig shed what a stink. No way was I going to stay in that apartment, it stunk to high heaven.
On request and a few choice words I was moved onto the top floor, I had to carry my own cases upstairs but anything was better then the apartment below. As the apartment had not been prepared for anyone, we had no bedding or towels, and when I asked for them the staff just stared at me blankly and then laughed. Eventually the receptionist invited me into an empty room about 11.30pm the same evening, and we stripped the beds, surely things could not get any worse.
The next day we met some of the other guests, who were complaining about all sorts, too may things to go into, but respect to Louise the holidays4U rep she did everything that she could to address and rectify everybody’s problems. By the third day half of the staff had been sacked, the apartment’s boss and manager were never away from the place, needless to say the apartments changed from Fawlty Towers to Buckingham palace in less then a week.
The cleaners worked very hard, from 7.00am until 5.30pm the apartments were spotless. The new staff were a lot more helpful and also very friendly. I think that the main problem with the Seren was that the staff were only bits of kids who were trying to run the apartments, and had nobody to tell them what or how to do things properly.
I personally would never go back to the Seren, because there is no entertainment whatsoever, every night we had to go out to eat and find something to amuse the kids apart from that as I have said the apartments, certainly during the time that I was there were spotless, also the pool was a lovely size and once again very clean.

| said: I must admit that the hotel itself is not up to much- very basic and we too had to go without electricity and water on the odd occasion. However, we will still be returning in 2005 as the staff of this hotel and the atmosphere provided gave us the most enjoyable holiday we have ever had. Remember it’s what you make of the holiday!
We ended up knowing almost everyone staying in the apartments first names, and the bar staff (on there only night off) would take us all for a guided tour of the local bars. Some nights there would be a bunch of us at the bar with shampoo in our hair as the water had ran out but this just gives us more funny memories - no use spoiling your holiday!
The location was much better than we expected as there are dolmuses running all the time literally 2 minutes away from the hotel and they take you straight into Marmaris - so you’re away from the noise and bustle of the town, but there are several family bars and restaurants on your doorstep too.
All in all we couldn’t have asked for better!

| said: We have just returned from seren apartments which are based in the Armutalan area of Marmaris. These apartments have got to be the worse apartments that we have ever stayed in, we nick named them faulty towers. Where do i start, 1st of all the air conditioning kept flooding the room and the balcony making it very slippery, took the staff a week to put a plastic tube out of the pipes and into a water bottle which meant we had to come in every dinner time and every evening to emty the water bottle before flooding started again, i refused to pay for second week. We had to go down and ask for towels just about every day as the cleaners kept leaving us a couple of hand towels for a family of 4. The reception staff did not speak any english so it was very hard to communicate with them when you had problems. The water and electric went off between 7 and 8 every evening or usually when you just put shampoo on your hair. the Bathrooms kept flooding, the shower curtain rail kept falling on top of us.The staff have got to be the laziest people I have ever met, they lay on the sunbeds all day sleeping, Turkish night was terrible they had 50 people to cook for, they pulled out a little barbacue and only had 3 mezzes, they ran out of food straight away, we had to wait for our food to come from another hotel so by the time we got our meal everyone else had eaten. I would never stay here again, looks like its back to altinkum next year.

When we woke up we smelt a horrible smell and opened our curtains and looked directly into a pig shed which stunk. The balcony must have been only a few foot away from this pig shed. But after requesting to be moved the staff did this with no faults. Each time we requested anything from the staff they were helpfull. there was no entertainment at hotel. Also we were invaded by ants on our worktop in kitchen area which was not very nice when you have small children to cook for.

We stayed there in July 2003 and three times during our stay we were told that we had to vacate the rooms for a few hours so they could fumigate. We did find one cockroach in our shower but there was no other evidence of manifestation! The staff at the reception and bar were pleasant enough but not overly helpful. The pool was very small with a tiny area for the kids. There was very little terrace around the pool which meant that at the busier times we all lay like sardines packed into a can. The poolside canopies were large and few. If you were lucky enough to get one, you may not have it for long as the merest breeze would send them flying away. Twice they landed on people having a snack in the tiny decking snack area. Luckily there was a large pool and snack bar just next door - and that is where we spent most of our poolside time. I have visited Marmaris and Icmeler six times and this is the only accomodation I would not go back to.
