After reading so many reviews on this hotel I have to say I was abit nervous about not having done my research before making the booking and was expecting the worst. Me and my boyfriend fancied a week away and was all very last minute and we got it for a reasonable price. I wasn't expecting the Ritz, but something basic and clean. We arrived at the hotel at 2am in the morning and you can imgine at that time all we wanted to do was check in and go to sleep. There was 52 people checking in at that time of the morning and they had one person on reception, who didn't speak very good english, so we didnt actually get into our room and into bed an hour and half later. To be honest, me and my boyfriend were very pleased with the room. It was very spacey and suited as fine. I especially liked the balcony, we had an end apartment which meant our balcony was that bit bigger and was great for sunbathing. The only problem we had was that out bathroom light wasn't working, but I wouldn't see this as a big problem and it was fixed the next day. Me and my bf were having a fantastic holiday, we arrived on the friday night and by Monday things started to go down hill. Me and my bf started coming out in what I can only describe as red boils/red lumps on our skin, all over our arms, legs, back and face! and it was assumed it was mosquiko bites. Now i have been biten my moskitqo many a time and i know how to deal with it, but I can assure you this was no mosquito bite and it was very strange how it was just me and my bf that were coming out in these bites. Not one to complain me and mark didnt want to make a fuss and besides we wern't 100% what it was. However as the week went on, we got more and more and more of these and it was getting very embrassing, by tuesday mark was wearing tops to cover his and I was wearing long sleeved tops in boiling heat because local people keep commenting on us cause they were getting really obvious, and it shocked us that the locals where gettin on how they where, you think they would be use to seeing people from ireland and the uk with mosquito bites but they where really alarmed. By the wednesday I couldn't sleep with the constant itching and went down to reception to ask where the nearest chemist was. The man at recepetion took one look and my arm and began apolising, he didnt speak good english so he assumed I was complaining because I was motioning to my arm to get directions to the chemist. He said he was very sorry and would change the room immediately, i was taken back by this as I never mentioned to change rooms but he obviously felt I had to move. It turns out there was bed bugs! Now with never having this problem before i didn't know thats what it could of been, me and mark came to all conclusions that it may of been the suncream we were using to mosquitos but never once thought of bed bugs. The beds where changed twice in the week that we were there so I though the cleaniness of the room was fine, however it doesn't matter how much they change the beds, bed bigs are implanted in the mattress and cause problems. So to say the least me and mark were not impressed. I had this disgusting bites all over my face and my arms were horrid. And the worst part was the manager wouldn't let us change rooms, so me and mark had to spend our last two days in the room and he slept on the settee and I slept in the pull out bed. What a joke. When i got home people thought I shuld of demanded the room change but to be honest me and mark were so frustrated and annoyed at this stage we just wanted home. The journey home was so uncomfortable, these bites wern't just ugly to look at they were so unbelivabley itchy and it was a real sore itch and no amount of creams or anything would calm them down, so it was very embrassing to spend your whole flight home itching. When i got home no1 couldnt quite believe how bad the red marks where, trust me it wasn't pretty. I ended up doing research on bed bugs and they can invest in your clothes and people have had to have professionals in to sort them out. I threw away all my holiday clothes ( all bought brand new for holiday) I always threw out my brand new suitcase and anything associated with the holiday as they all could of been invested,a nd I had to go to the doctor and get all sorts of creams and medicated wash. We were on holiday from 30 may - 7 june, it is now the 17th June and would u believe it I still have the marks don't get me wrong, they have faded quite alot, but they are still visable. So would I recommend this hotel? Absoultely not!

I was expecting the worst after reading the reviews but it was bad at all it was really nice infact. I have to say if i stayed here again i would go self catering only as the food they serve at the restuarant wasnt nice at all, however the food that you can purchase at the surf bar is really nice. All the staff were pretty helpful however the bar staff in the surf bar were fab, pedro was brillant. everyone there is really friendly and nothing was stollen and you felt really safe. the entertainment was catered for familys due to the time of year i think but it was still ok. The location of the hotel is great i wouldnt say it was on a hill at all and theres some good bars and steak houses nearby. destiny;s the county durham bar does great food and is really cheap and friendly, if you fancy going out for a steak there is neptuno and snappys that always compete for your custom, i prefered neptunos better but the steak i got from snappys was also fab. this hotel is close to everything and there was only a few ants in the room but they were tiny and i mean miniture, all i can say its the mozis that get you so protect yourself as there is no net or anything to stop them but apart from them it was great and would really recommend it.

Ok lets start with Cardiac Hill.... It would only be cardiac hill if you struggle to walk over speed bump in the uk, its tiny. There was a massive mix up when we arrived at the apartment, myself and five other groups who had booked one bedrooms where being given studio's, as the staff said there were no one bedroom apartment left even thou we had all paid extra for them. After nearly 2 hours they gave us an apartment. Let just say if they hand you keys for Room M506 tell them to hop it. We moved 2 days later to room 36h which was lovely. Other than the mix up, hotel would be good for young people as its close to all the nightlife

The room was basic but clean, we had pull down beds disguised as wardrobes which was good as it gave you more room.

There were a few ants but not infested with them, the room was cleaned by the maids everyday with fresh towels. kitchen was small but functional.

The entertainment was not really up to that much we never stayed to watch it and happy hour didnt exist, the location was good except for the cardiac hill.

Right well where do I start.... these appartments were absolutely disgusting! We arrived at about 12.30am and all we wanted to do was sleep, but there was no chance of that. The room was like the size of a box we couldn't shut the door, the balcony wouldnt lock and the beds folded out of the wall.

There were ants and cockroaches everywhere. So we asked to be moved to another room, and it got worse when the hotel workers were showing us to our room they were falling over everywhere over our suitcases, as if they were drunk.

We finally got to the other room and there was cockroaches running in and out from behind the fridge, we didn't sleep at all that night!

We were told that the apartments were 3 star but I wouldn't even give it a one star, the hotel entertainment was the worst ever!

I couldn't understand how there was still people staying in these apartments! the next day we asked to be transfered to a 4 star hotel as there was no way that I was staying in those apartmens even if they paid me.

Me and my boyfriend went to this hotel expecting the worst. Just wanted a cheap getaway.

Had a fab time here. we stayed in room 91H big one beedroom apartment. with sun loungers on the patio. Great to sunbathe on in the morning before you go out.

Close to everything realy. Hotel was clean. No problems at all. Lots of space etc. Could not find anything wrong with the room at all, and we checked it all. Not ants or cockroches

Have a great stay.

Rooms were very basic, two single pull down beds were disguised as wardrobes, front door had been smashed in at some stage and spliced. Stray cats were sat on our patio every night and played with the cockroaches. Biggest problem was the ant infestation, they were all over the kitchen area and in the drawers.

Entertainment seemed ok but the organisers played on the "happy hour" a bit 2 much trying to keep punters there without the "happy hour" materialising so we went out every night in search of cheaper ale !

Definitely a two star, probably not even that. I would not recommend this hotel

We ended up here as our first company went bust and booked this last minute.

The location is superb look down the gently sloping street and you can see the sea. If you ever take a boat trip here or Cyprus - Balearics - Turkey etc. you will realise that tourists hotels and villas are 90% on hill sides were local don't want to be.

A few roaches that you expect in any hot country, so keep the door and windows closed, rent or buy osc. fans! Ants worked harder than the maids at keeping the floor clean, but this is what you expect from 2 star. Cats only hang round if you feed them, and there are there to keep the rodent problem down on the whole of Tenerife, you will see rats outside the complex during daylight, one downside is the cats have took out the lizards which keep the insects down.

Entertainment was not for us, when we did stay to see a turn thet did not show! pools (3)were small. So head for Adeje water park 20 minute walk, great.

There is a secure outside play area for younger kids.

Food did not look apertising so ate out.

Signs that patio doors had been forced so use the room safe, the staff pointed out that the security fencing is now 10 foot tall to keep the rogues out, never heard of break ins when we were there.

Fridge and cooking fascilities were adaquate, you get what you pay for!

If you leave hotel and turn down to sea then left and left you will find a number of shops and pubs even an Irish one with English tv channel, a Chinese eat as much as you want buffet around 6 euro's.

Pariso Del Sol translated means (Paradise in the Sun) and what a joke..

Arrived there at midnight to be checked in by security, given keys and not shown where to go. We had a upstairs apartment near the pool which was NOT up to much to say the least.

We were told by Thomson's it was a Three star and found out it was only a two...I wouldn't even give it a one star.

The apartment was very basic to be polite, there was no air con and it was like an oven, even at night. We could not leave the sliding doors open as cockroaches were all over the place. They ran about freely late evening and were squashed all over in the mornings. Small ant like things were all over the kitchen and were all over the balcony, it was roaming with stray/wild cats which were always looking for food. I think they were there to eat the cockroaches as nobody from the Pariso seemed to be removing them....THE PLACE IS A DUMP....

The only good thing about this place is that it is very central to everything about Las Americas..

The pool area was OK whilst the drunken/swearing youths were not about and the night time entertainment was boring and nearly the same every night, this went on till after 1 c'clock..

We ate out every day and only slept in the apartment, With all the lights on to keep the cockroaches away...enough said about this place but I would NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYBODY.

I would come back to tenerife but NOT anywhere near this place as there is lots of things to do and there are lots of great places to eat..the best being..HEADS AND TAILS..which is English owned and run Bar.

WHAT A TOTAL LET DOWN FOR OUR FIRST HOLIDAY

Seven of us stayed at the Paraiso del Sol this year we had three seperate apartments that were all close to each other.

When we first arrived it looked ok, when we got our keys we had to be walked round the other side of the hotel by a worker to take us to our room, it felt like ages to walk when you just want to go to bed.

Anyway our room looked really nice and clean very spacious and a nice big balcony to get some air in. Thank god! The room was kept pretty clean but had infestation of little tiny ants everywhere and dont think the floor was ever cleaned as my feet went black as soon as I got out of the shower.

Being a teenager youd think I could handle the noise but all night...I dont think so! There was definitely lots of young people staying here that didnt have any respect for others but the hotel staff to action and the noise soon stopped.

Just one thing we had no where to leave our passports on our last day which was poor, the public shower was disgusting I would rather smell then get in there - this needs to be sorted!

The studio room we had when staying at this complex was very basic and was not that clean!!

We had an infestation of little ant like creatures and the floor on the balcony did not cleaned for the whole duration of our stay. As we were self catering we were expecting a basic but competant kitchen to cook in however we only got two gas rings and a fridge, if you wanted a kettle or a toaster you had to hire these at an extra charged!!

We had at the surf bar located next to the swimming pool and the food was horrible you had to wait half an hour before recieving the poor quality food.

The staff were unhelpful and didnt seem to know what they were doing. We did not see any of the entertainment on the complex.

Stayed at the Paraiso del Sol in July 2005, for 5 boozy nights. The place was almost deserted - very quiet - and we thought we had dropped on lucky... How wrong can you be!!

We popped to the pool for a dip at 4pm for a couple of hours - and someone went in our room and robbed us. They obviously had a key - the door was not smashed in. They only took our mobile phones, but this involved smashing my locked suitcase open. The hotel manager wasn't that bothered - this has obviously happened before. Another guest we bumped into had his £1000 camera nicked on the same day! We wandered up to the local police station, and they turned us away, saying "phone this number". The cop who answered was always "busy - try in 10 minutes" after about 10 attempts - I gave up.

The day after, the bathroom door jammed shut - and it took ages for the maintenance man to visit to let us back in to the loo.

Location of the hotel is quite good, near Snappys (amazing food), near the beach, near Veronicas. It was reasonably clean, but the theft left us feeling cross. Cannot comment on the entertainment - we made our own fun.

Always get your valuables in a safe!!!!

This holiday was booked on a family deal.

The hotel was very clean and location was quite good, although I felt that having two small children with us you had to watch there every move as the pool was quite near the bar and patio area. Also there was steps leading up to reception and this lead you to main road outside.

We had a few cochroaches which were very large and horrible, we had only four throughout our stay but my daughter had a lot more, 6 in one night, so if you are not keen of this sort of thing this is not the hotel to go to.

Hotel staff were brilliant very helpful and polite rooms were clean and tidy.

The entertainment was terrible. This was not catered for a family at all if you were 60 and over great otherwise stay in your room or go out even though you can still hear the noise but stops after 12.30am.

The rep was always on hand at hotel and he was very nice and helpful at all times.

Firstly, my wife and I had stayed next door to the hotel before, so having read the reviews after booking we were a little apprehensive.

However to our pleasant surprise, the hotel was clean, not a cockroach in sight. The staff were always polite and spoke very good english. When we arrived the patio door wouldn't lock properly but once reported it was sorted within minutes by the maintenance man. Top marks!

In terms of location, it is relatively near to the lively nightlife, however this was not apparent from what can only be described as minimal noise during the night. An added bonus is that the beach is only a 3-4 minute walk away.

There are supermarkets in close proximity to the hotel serving fresh produce and we can highly recommend Snappys, a restaurant opposite, for good value and high quality food (especially the Lamb....mmmmm).

we have marked low for food and entertainment as we did not experience it to comment on, however the food looked nice and the entertainment sounded like people were having a good time.

In summary, I would highly recommend the Paraiso Del Sol apartments and have no doubt my wife & I will visit again to get away from the English winter next year.

After reading a few of the reports on here - we were dreading the hotel. We booked a last minute holiday and did not expect much after looking on here.

When we arrived - the hotel looked fine from outside.
Got to our room and it slept 6 and there were 2 adults and 1 infant. So we were really pleased about this.

The room was clean, however we did hunt for a few cockroaches and found none all holiday.

The patio area was a little disappointing and was full of cig ends from the apartment above.

There were little white spiders (very tiny) all on the work top all the time - but this was the only complaint we had and we did not eat in the room anyway. Even after getting rid of them day and night they still came back.

The pool was freezing but the pool area was kept tidy, but the music was a little loud for our child and we had to go out of the way if we wanted to get him to sleep.

I would go back as it was ok for a last minute hol and not much money - would not like to think spent lots of money as not brilliant but what do you expect for a 2 star.

Paraiso del sol appartments.
Me and 5 other mates arrived on the island and were taken to our appartments via coaches. Other peoples hotels looked nice and we didnt know what our hotel looked like... when we arrived there was two sides, the main side, looked ok- normal and the other side just looked like a prison block!

Turns out that we got split up, 3 on each side. i was on the prison side! but to be fair it wasn't actually like a prison, it was ok. There was a big fence round the appartments with locked gates, so u need a key to get in or out so i thought that was good for security reasons.

The room was VERY basic. Two gas hobs, fridge, kettle and a sink- thats the kitchen. But we didn't pay loads so i cant really complain! It suited us well, some where to store our stuff, wash and sleep! what more do you need?

The pool was good, it was actually pretty empty over on this side, the other side was ram packed!!! so over all the room suited us all very well and was kept clean by the cleaners, good job! only thing was that there were cockroaches, many cockroaches and they fly!

When my girlfriend and i arrived at the paraiso del sol apts, i thought "ok,could be worse", and to be honest they actually could have been. we stayed in the the second block opposite from the main complex, it was quiet pretty much all of the time, it was perfect for just chilling out and relaxing before the next big drinking binge, and getting blocked!

4 fellas i used to go to school with, were in the same block as us and their apt was a joke (5D), cupboards falling off, toilet broken, gas hob broken nobs, back-door not locking right, cockroaches-loads of them, toliet door wouldnt lock and their sofa was broken. now they had a really grumpy russian bloke above them, now dont get me wrong russian people are quite decent enought people, but this man was seriously grumpy and had an attitude problem. on the 6th day, he had made 8 pages worth of complaints about them, now on the first night they were noisy, cant defend them there, but the other nights we were all quiet. the hotel states that you are to make no noise in your apts after 1am, which is understandable, but this fella upstairs, was shouting at us over the balcony, at, wait for it, 8pm. so anyone who is going there, i just hope you dont get an idiot like that that above/beside you.

when i first arrived at the paraiso, i couldnt help but laugh, it looked cheap and run down, and generally very out of place compared to some of the other appartments we had seen. The rooms were extremely basic, and quite small. However, they were very clean, and were in an extremely good location. it is a 5 minute walk to the main strip, which is very ideal considering we were all on a budget! this meant that if we were to stumble home in the early hours of the morning drunk and dissordaly, it wouldnt take us very long to reach the appartments!

On the second day we decided to do some sunbathing by the pool, the pool area was very clean and comforting, i especially enjoyed the music that was being played by the pool as well. It was the sort of music that teenagers would listen to, it wasnt very ideal for families.

The place in itself wasnt ideal for families, it suited a party goers lifestyle, reps were on hand to offer drinking excursions, and were there to ensure that young party goers enjoyed their stay.

The people i met at the hotel were very nice and polite, which also made my stay more enjoyable. Overall i would say that the hotels location is its best advantage, and that the hotel is ideal for young groups of friends

After reading precious reviews I was a bit concerned but I neednt have worried. The room was spotless and the maids were in just about every day. The pool has had a facelift and looks fine.
Only had 1 cockroach in the room all week (plus a very small lizard)
The room walls are paper thin so hope that you are next to a noisy neighbour (we werent).
When we arrived we noticed that there were loads of empty sunbeds by the pool even though the apartments were full. After a couple of days it beacame obvious why, the music played through a massive speaker by the pool was way too loud and you could hardly hear yourself speak. I complained but it didnt do any good so we voted with our feet and spent our days by the nearby beach. Water in the pool nice and warm and not too much chlorine.

Whilst serving our sentence at this place we were robbed three times by the cleaning staff, twice when we were still in the apartment and the third when they left the door open all day when we were out on a trip. They stole my most precious piece of jewellery when I was in the shower and I will never get over it.

The hotel manger knew who it was and when tackled about it she just laughed at him and said prove it, they stole my mobile phone and on one occasion they were taunting us by saying our names and those of people who had text us, this place is a hell hole and should be avoided at all costs.

The rooms in this appartment block vary tremendously. We had a small room with pull down beds whilst our neighbours had two bedrooms. They are very basic but clean. The Paraiso could benefit from a facelift especially the pool which had black sides and paint peeling off. Theft in the apartments were rife. One person had their safety deposit box stolen. Supermarkets near by and a 5 - 10 minute stroll to the beach and nightlife

The apartment was quite large and clean, the only complaint was the bunk beds in the childrens room which squeaked everytime one of my children even moved slightly. But told reception and they sorted them out that same day.

The staff were friendly apart from one who worked behind the bar. They had music playing by the pool everyday which is fine until somebody put on a cd with very graphic lyrics so because I had my children with me I complained and the response that I got was as if he could not see what the problem was.

The pool area ok but the bottom of the pool was a bit tatty looking. The entertainment was ok nothing really exciting but didnt really expect much as we were staying out of season. Generally not a bad place for what we paid for the holiday

I stayed in these apartments with my fiancé in February 2003. The apartments were ideally situated and had a various age ranges of guest staying there.

We had a 1 bedroom apartment that was very clean and the maids visited daily.

I have no complaints about these apartments at all and would definitely stay there again.

Entertainment is available at evenings although we only stayed in a couple of times but the entertainment we saw was very good.
