| said: Considering this is a 2 Star establishment, I would find it very difficult to knock anything.
Previous bad reports left me wondering if we had made a seriuos mistake booking here.
Truth is
The cleaning staff were in every day apart from Sunday.
Towels were changed daily if left on floor or in bath.
Sheets were changed twice a week or more frequent by request.
And generally the studio was kept at a high standard throughout holiday.
Being 6'2'' and the bath being about 3'6'' in length caused some humourous comments, but the showers worked fine (although they are the more economical mixer tap type).
If you are the type to complain about the freshly painted white walls having dripped on the brown skirting board in one place or get really upset about a cracked tile on the balcony / veranda. This probably isn't the place for you.
But remembering you have booked a two star holiday, expect what you've paid for.
We only saw one cocky the whole holiday which the wife quickly despatched to heaven with one of my size 10's.
But.. bear in mind our visit was in April when there are not many around.
If you keep the room free of crumbs and bits of late night pizza this will obviously pursuade the little mites to go next door.
The hotel food was ok but nothing to write home about.
Much the same as the majority of PDLA.
Hotel location is unbelievable. 40 paces from Wigan Pier or 90 from Veronicas so not far to walk if your legs are on the wobble.
After saying that no noise can be heard from rooms.
The only noise your likely to come across are other holiday makers enjoying themselves on the way to their rooms.
April is a month when most visitors are over 30 so you can sleep at night. Although we were informed this is a popular site for the 18-30 groups at other times of the year. So expect to sleep on the beach during the day at other times of the year.
Hotel staff responded to our every request and were polite and helpful.
Entertainment, there was entertainment every night, but of a quality you would not be worried about missing. Much like some on offer is the cheaper restaurants around and about.
The pool is very small (very) and there are not enough sunbeds for the complex, but if you are a beach dweller you will not be bothered. Playa de la Vista (the best beach) is only 5 mins walk or 3-4 euro in a cab.
The nearest beach is behind Veronicas and is black sand.
Food and drink generally is no longer as cheap as it used to be, so think hard about whether you want to book self catering in Tenerife. It may be wise to upgrade to half board or full board in a 3 star.
This hotel in my mind is for people who are going away on the cheap and are likely to cook all their own meals. We used it purely as a base and went out to eat every meal, thus we would probably been better off booking half board elsewhere based on prices paid.
Would we recommend to Friends ?
Not if they had kids who wanted to play by the pool all day or be entertained on complex.
Not if they were worried about the colour of the bathroom tiles or were very fussy about decor.
This is a clean place but I think the decorators were half canned when they worked.
Not if they were looking for a quiet holiday between June and September.
But if your budget is tight and you know what to expect from a two star, this is the place for you.
Would we visit again ?
Yes, at the right time of year for our age group.

| said: This hotel was amazing, from the moment we got there. There were 4 of us, all friends. We went from the 16th January - 30th January, self catering.
The weather was brilliant the first week, got up to about 30c it was really good. The second week, weather was abit more cooler but wasn't a problem.
This hotel was really nice, when we got there, we got up-graded to a three bedroomed room, as we was ment to have 2 seperate rooms, which this turned out brilliant. We had a really big balcony which had sun-loungers, table and chairs. It was really good.
The maids came Monday - Saturday, during the afternoon, always tidied out rooms, kitchen, bath - room, living area, also dining area. Facilities were brilliant, as kitchen was good as it had hobs, as we didn't always go out for meals.
The bar, balcony view, was very nice, staff were always polite and happy to help, always made us laugh. Food was very nice, also cheap. Drinks were also quite cheap too.
The pool area, balcony view, was nice with sun-loungers half way round the pool, so people could get through. The pool wasn't very big, but big enough for us to have fun in it. The pool water was absoutly freezing, but didn't matter as it was very hot weather.
The hotel located in a lively area, near the bars, but however, we could not hear a thing.
The entertainment was not that good, it was on most nights, mainly kareoke. But not that good as there wasn't alot of poeople, around that time.
Yes I would visit here again. Yes I would come back to these appartments. It was brilliant. Best time ever.

No day light in room due to many trees and bushes. Cockroaches in kitchen and bathroom if that is what you can call it?
Entertainment and pool was poor my paddling pool was bigger and I have had more entertainment watching paint dry.

| said: The Hacienda Del Sol is cockroach infested dump.
I woke up with cockroaches crawling over me in the bed.
In the bar/pool area in the evening, it was crawling with cockroachs.
We couldn't take food to our rooms so as not to encourage the cockroaches.
Self catering facilities were poor, with a fridge, two hobs, and a kettle.
The rooms are only serviced every other day and the towels and bedding changed only twice a week.
The pool area was hosed down once in a fortnight, the sunbeds were not hosed at all.The pool was dirty consequently.
The food in the restaurant was quite good. We ate there a few times until the cockroach situation became more apparent.
For anyone who thinks that it is ok to spot a cockroach, it is to spot the odd one. BUT not on this huge scale and in your bed.
We have cockroaches in the UK too, but you very rarely see any.
I have stayed in some two star apartments but never experienced this filth.
I would not reccomend this hotel to anyone.
The staff were helpful and friendly.

| said: Me and my friend Hayley have just returned from a brilliant week in Las Americas and had a great time staying at the Hacienda del Sol.
I was a bit worried before we left as ive read all these bad reviews but was so relieved upon arriving to find that some people must have very high standards for what at the end of the day is a 2 star apartment.
When we arrived I was pleased to see a pretty, welcoming entrance with lovely plants trailing all over and pretty stairs leading down to the pool with a small fountian in the centre of the stairwell all surrounded by lush greenery.
The pool was totally adequate as we only intended on sunbathing and jumping in to cool off which it is more than big enough for. Its not an olympic pool but I definitly wouldnt say its small!
The bar/restaurant staff are lovely, pleasant and friendly spanish people who served us our many drinks and food with a smile all day and night.
Our apartment was basic i suppose but it was clean, tidy, had all the amenities such as a tv, kettle, toaster and little balcony overlooking the pool!
We had no cockroaches in our room until we left the balcony door open at night and then I totally expected to see them, they lived there first you know!!
These were soon got rid of with some bug spray so didnt find these a problem at all!
Were only 22 yrs old so loved the location being a 1 minute walk till our on the strip of bars so families and older couples may not appreciate noise of youngsters cming back to apartments late but the there was no noise in the Hacienda apart from that.
Only sometimes when young people have their stereos on in the day and night, this may annoy some people.
We had a wicked time there and when I go back to Tenerife we will definitly be staying at the Hacienda and Im missing being there already!!
Have a good time everyone!!!

| said: After reading many reviews after booking this holiday, I was prepared for a disgusting, cockroach ridden, noisy dump - which is not what I found. As soon as me and my family arrived after a long transfer the staff met us and were very friendly. They came to make up another bed for us as they had been informed incorrectly about how many adults and children would be sleeping in each room.
We had a problem with our lock and the next morning the locks were changed.
The rooms were cleaned, and bins emptied, towels changed every day.
The pool was small, but as we went in December that wasn't a problem for us.
We had a cockroach in our room, but so what, it didn't cause any problems.
All in all we were all very happy with our accommodation and where it was situated and had a brilliant holiday.
No complaints whatsoever and would recommend it. We thought it was great for a 2* hotel.

Other than that would definitely recommend. Enjoy

The rooms were always clean, and we only saw cockroaches outside of the rooms, near the plants, which isn't a problem, they have the right to be there.
The bar staff, especially Raymond and Julian are all extremely friendly, and were very accomodating to us. They would go out of their way to help guests, and offer as much advice and friendly conversation as they can.
The location is ok, but the area itself appears to have a soaring crime rate (safe in the day, but be very, very alert at night)
Overall, this is a worthwhile stay, and i would definatley reccomend The Hacienda Del Sol to anybody.

| said: Hacienda del Sol in Playa de las Americas via First Choice Holidays 4th to 18th Jamuary 2005.
Firstly, we can confirm that everything bad that we have read regarding the Hacienda, since returning from our holiday is probably true.
We arrived early, at Tenerife South airport, but it took a staggering 3 hours after being driven around Las Americas and finally dropped off last at the Hacienda together with another couple, who, upon seeing their room, were distraught.
On arrival, we were greeted in a rough and abrupt manner by a guy in reception, demanding passports, and sign here! We were shown 2 rooms, both of which were totally unacceptable. In each case, upon opening the door we were bowled over with a terrible stench, every surface was leaving a greasy film on our skin, the furniture was crude and basic, walking to the verandah window, reavealed the view of congealed vomit, broken glass and rubbish everywhere. Upon stepping outside, we were adjacent to the hotel's rubbish storage area. There was no tv in the room, no toaster, no kettle or microwave, all of which had to be hired at extra cost.
In the meantime, my husband made a rapid exit, requiring to get out of the room as soon as possible due to the onset of coughing and wheezing. In our view, brought on by the stench of insecticide? industrial cleaner? or it may just have been the aroma of sewage, that was also apparent in the air everywhere. Neither of the two rooms that we were shown were acceptable to us, we foolishly believed that surely there had to be something else on offer, being as how we had paid £800 for this fortnight's self-catering holiday. The rep who had disappeared straight away, was contacted by phone, she said she would see if she could arrange some alternative accomodation, half an hour later, we were told by a return call, that first choice had nothing available, other than a hotel which would cost us an additional 200 euros per night for our 14 night duration.
People were overhearing this conversation, and saying join the club mate, its a awful here, we're glad to be going home.
We would be delighted to hear from any of those "six guys from Hull" who were listening to that conversation, as the rep finally told us, "you can take it or leave it - that's it you're on your own"
In the interest of keeping my husband healthy, i.e., not aggravating his asthma, we left, having not even unpacked our cases, and had to fork out over £1,000 for alternative accomodation for the fortnight.
We believe that this is not a suitable hotel for older people,or those with families, or for anyone with a health problem.
Upon our return to England, we followed the necessary rules, and formally complained to first choice, who, 28 days later replied, having whitewashed over our complaints, plagurising our words and showing the exact same attitude and disregard for us, a first-time and last-time customer, as clearly they have for others.
We would not recommend the Hacienda del Sol to anyone, be warned. And, as for the company first choice, they appear not to give a damn.
AND just so that you know, we have also learned, that First choice own summer sun, so this is their own hotel.
To be fair, we were told that this hotel was situated very close to the centre of the nightlife there. That's ok, all things accepted, people enjoy themselves, but when you're told on top of everything else, that nobody sleeps in that hotel, and when you are asked 'what are old folk like you doing here?' Would anyone blame a 55 and 54 year old couple for complaining?
If you've had problems with this hotel or with First Choice, pleae contact us.

| said: I have read most of the reports posted about this hotel and I must say, dont people read the brochure or understand what star ratings are all about. The Haccienda is a TWO STAR RATED hotel, what do you expect!
We first stayed at this hotel in Nov 2004, went back in Apr 05 and are going back Nov 05. Yes it is very basic but this we new and understood before we left England. We personally found it to be clean and acceptable for the 2* rating it had and the cost to stay there. If we wanted better we would have chosen differently and paid more before booking!
Our group was aged from 40 upwards, we didn't have a lot of problems with noise but the other couple in our party did on our second visit with neighbours but the staff were quick to respond when they complained.
The staff were all found to be helpful and cheerful.
The towel change, room cleaning was done as stated in the brochure also.
I would suggest if people want better accomodation they need to pay for it and most of all check it out before booking and understand the ratings.
All in all a good holiday was had by all and the pool was absolutely fine also. By the way we saw two cockroaches on the first trip and three on the second but hey, arn't they all over the place. We have just come back from the Maldives and they are even over there!

| said: When we arrived at Hacienda we hadn’t heard any reviews about the place and so didn’t know what to expect. It is in a fantastic location for us younger ones as the main nightlife is literally 30 seconds down the road, but as we were located towards the back of the complex the noise didn’t affect us at all. However I can imagine for those at the front that it was worse.
We didn’t really see much of the staff to give a proper rating as we were either in the room, out drinking, or at the beach. We spent most days at the beach as there was never any room around the pool, which as others have said was a bit small for the ammount of rooms that were there.
The maids came around every day to tidy up but beds weren’t changed once in a week and towels only a couple of times so not really impressed with that.
Heard a bit of bad karaoke when we were on our way out to the bars but didn’t stick around. Entertainment was none existent really!
Overall it was ok as the shower worked and there were 3 beds 2 sleep in. Not so good for older people and families so I wouldn’t recommend it.

| said: When we arrived at the hotel, the reception staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was quite dark and the beds were VERY hard, but overall the room was how we thought it would be. Fairly basic.
The only problem was the noise, the room was right next door to the next hotel and every night at 3am we heard the lorries going to and from the hotel, which went on for 2 hours. (Room 222)
Then at 5am we had all the 16 year old girls (obviously their first holiday abroad without parents) ringing the door bells and shouting and swearing. The staff were there quite quickly to deal with it, but after 4 nights in a row, it got really irratating. So the staff kicked them out.
No sunbathing on balcony, in shade all day.
Swimming pool wasn’t big enough, never enough sunbeds.
Had 4 cockroaches in room in the first week, told staff and they then sprayed the room.
The hotel should either be just for adults over 30 or just for teenagers, 18-30 clubs. Not both.

We booked an AOA deal through First Choice. We're obviously aware of the situation with AOA - you can never be sure what you're gonna get, but we were assured that it would be a 2* hotel from the First Choice brochure.
I'm amazed that First Choice put their name to this accommodation! I've stayed in "basic" places before, and don't expect The Ritz, but this was different.
Cleanliness was one of the main problems - towels changed 3 times in a week, bins emptied 4 times, bed sheets never changed at all.
The room we got when we arrived (at midnight, after travelling all day) had one dead cockroach, which had been left, chewing gum stuck on the bed and it stank.
Changed room the next day, without too much hassle. Other people, with other problems seemed to have less luck. Although the hotel seems to have an image as a 18-30's location, most of the people on our coach when we arrived, about 40+ people, were over 30 and mainly in couples. I think my main criticism is the logic in First Choice placing people in Hacienda - its just not the right sort of place. The Reps didnt seem to care about "older" peoples problems at all - all they were interested in doing were taking those who were there for the 18-30 "experience" off to try and flog excursions.
Didnt see any of the entertainment, hence middle rating.
Ideal location tho - no need for a ride in a taxi the whole week
My advice, to anyone going AOA with First Choice would be to consider paying the extra £30-£50 quid and getting a named hotel, rather than staying at Hacienda

| said: We booked an AOA holiday with First Choice, being told that there were 5 hotels we could be placed in. Unfortunately there was no mention of any of these hotels being 'Young & Livley'.
The hotel is in a 'fantastic' location; the apartment was clean and was kept that way by the friendly maids. The rest of the staff were very helpful and all round nice people, anyone saying other wise were obviously the ones getting told off for making the noise. And believe me there was LOTS of noise!
The hotel was 3/4 full of obnoxious, rude, arrogant and unfriendly people, who's vocabulary were only full of put downs and expletives (from 11am till 11pm - then you had too put up with an awful woman who couldn't sing for toffee)! The other 1/4 were families or couples who you only saw going into and out of the hotel - they obviously felt too uncomfortable to use any of the amenities.
I have no problem with people just wanting to have fun. I mean we are 27 and did our fare share of drinking through the day and all night - but did we bang doors, shout at people, start fighting or make general idiots of ourselves - NO!

When opening the door to the apartment we were first nearly knocked out by the bad smell and then found it to be small, unclean & really Dark.
We seen about Three Cockroches in the apartment and found the staff unhelpful about trying to kill them!
Actually found the staff to be really unhelpful about everything & quite ignorant as well!
Also the cleaners didn't change the bed sheets at all and also seemed to look through alll our stuff including the fridge!
Also when leaving the apartment we were made to pay 20Euro for breaking the front door which was a load of crap but then again the staff couldn't speak proper english so had no choice but pay the money! Think the staff seemed to have a problem with Irish people as no one else got Written warnings about noise on nights they hadn't even been out!!!!

Doors banging and doorbells being rung by revelers on their way back to their rooms at 2, 3, 4 o'clock in the morning. Room 611 is a nightmare as it is near the entrance so all have to pass on their way through and there is a great big palm tree outside the window meaning no sun could get through. We had to have the apartment lights on at all times and could not sunbathe AT ALL on balcony. In fact, we only knew what the weather was like when we stepped outside.
The 30 euro deposit each on arrival is not good either as it meant our budget was reduced for our week as we were not told of this.
Other than that was very clean and pool was ok.
Food and drink good but no entertainment at all.

The pool by the day had a great atmosphere and the little food we had was ok.
Reps were fine but had no need to trouble them.
A few young lads, a drunken lad and his unfortunate girl friend got asked to leave.
If you want a great laugh with your mates this will do the job, but kids will not fit in as it is for the young and us young at heart.

It is fun & CLEAN despite what others have said.
I went with 3 mates for a week & it was the best weeks holiday I have ever had. We met some great guys & girls from Newcastle, Middlesbrough & Stoke + not forgetting the Norwich babes Vicki, Lisa & Kate .
This place is cheap & cheerful. Its ideally located right on the fringe of Veronicas strip "the main entertainment centre" in Playa de las Americas & I can honestly say I would have happily stay there again .
P.s.
I don’t know what the fuss about the pool was? I though it was ok.

| said: I went on a girly holiday with 2 of my friends and was expecting the worst hotel after reading the reports, but we were quite surprised.
Although the apartment was small it was clean and comfortable. There were 2 beds and one camp bed so the youngest of our party - Kate got allocated to the camp bed. It was equipped with all you need except a cork screw - very important!
The pool was small but very clean and the poolside bar was quite nice - except for the karaoke in the evening!
The staff I found to be a little unfriendly and could get quite angry at the noise levels in the early hours, especially with the four guys staying in a room down the corridor from us, but if you can't beat em join em and they were the best laugh ever - Paddy, Steve, Michael & Brydon.
This hotel is definitely not for families and is aimed at the younger party goers even if you have reached your late twenties/early thirties!
The location is brilliant for the clubs but is not as clean or as up- market as the other ends of the resort, it is bang in the centre.

| said: I'd like to add weight to the arguments I have read on the website. The Apartments themselves are basic but all that our party needed. Somewhere to sleep and chill out.
Although I ended up on the camp bed it was as comfortable as you can get and enough for us. The rooms were very clean and tidied excellently by the maids. That was the same for the other staff who too were very friendly and helpful.
The pool was abit small (all the teenagers to be messing around in it) but with the beach a 5 minute walk away then what more could you ask for? The beach was busy but there was plenty of room whatever time we got down there!
The location is intended for the teenager/young adult age group due to it being only 30seconds from Linekars bar (which is the best entertainment in Playa) but this did cause problems sleeping at night as the noise was pretty loud.
All in all though an excellent holiday and was well looked after by staff and Reps
Look forward to going again soon!

| said: Hacienda del sol was a great place to stay. The maids were friendly and cleaned the apartment daily. The staff were great and you always got a 'hola' when walking past reception no matter what time. The security guard made me laugh when he was trying to keep people undercontrol. He must of had a bad night one night as he threatened us with a warning for carrying a turned off c.d player upstairs. Other reviews say the pool is too small. I think the size is ok. Again it is not really a family pool as the majority of the people by it are 18-30's and just splash anyone. I heard a lady complaining at reception that she could not swin with her kids as there were too many teenagers in the pool. That was obvious though, if you look round the hotel the majority staying there are teenagers.

| said: There is nothing really positve to write about my experience of the hacienda del sol. If it was not for its excellent location (at the top of the main strip) we would have happily walked out the "hotel" and found somewhere else to stay.
We had 2 studio appartments. The couches doubled as the beds. The place was filthy, we found numerous living and dead cockroaches around the room. Our view consisted off a dead palm tree and a brick wall.
Our neighbours were extremely noisy and hotel management did not seem to pay too much attention to our complaints. Upon directly asking our neighbours not to play their music so loud we were told to "F off"
This was a very unpleasant stay and I am surprised that the place even meets standard healthy and safety regulations.
First Choice are a disgrace and it would be nice to meet a rep who cared more about her customers then her sun tan

| said: My 12 year old daughter and myself have just returned from the Hacienda Del Sol, this being the first time my daugher had ever travelled abroad.
We were horrified when we arrived to put put in room no.211, dark, dingy, surrounded by trees and right by the main road. To be fair the beds were clean, apart from on the first night a cat urinating on my daughter's bed.
I am not a prude and like to have a good time but to be kept awake all night by unruly lager louts is not funny, they were swearing, shouting and fighting and the noise went on to 6.00am in the morning.
This was not a hotel for families, the only entertainment was dreadful karaoke and the pool was tiny.
Will not be going back!

| said: We visited Tenerife on an allocation on arrival - Never Again. We arrived at lunch time and our apartment was clean yes although very dark as the internal lighting was terrible. The pool was very very busy with too many beds for the area. When checking in they asked us for 30 euros each as a deposit so immediately we knew hmmmm it had to be a twenty's 18-30 club type thing so were not that happy. Sure I have been 18 before and enjoyed myself to the limit on holiday forgetting that when you have had a few drinks you do not become invisible or start whispering. It was extremely noisy doors banging right through from say 12pm till 6 am so if you want a sleep where you go then dont go there. There was a few families checked in and I felt extremely sorry for them. The entertainment was a dismal kareoke which thankfully finished at 1 am. The maids were very good, changing towels sheets etc regular, staff on reception friendly enough. We made the best of not an ideal location for us but if you are over 25 I suggest you stay somewhere else.

| said: This hotel is the worst place I've ever stayed in. Yes it was cheap and only 2 star but that does not excuse filthy floors and cupboards that were so dirty you couldn't use them.
Then there were the cockroaches - some dead on the floor when we arrived and the live ones that came through the bathroom window. We closed the window but they still got in through the seal.
The view was a brick wall, there were noisy neighbours and people screaming at each other day and night. The "cleaning staff" were rude and didn't really clean very much.
The only good thing about the hotel was its location but that is not enough to make me want to ever return.

| said: We stayed at the Hacienda for one week in June. We were looking for a lively holiday, but a bit of a rest as well.
The location was fantastic, and as we were at the back of the hotel, the noise from the bars etc did not bother us. However it was very noisy with people returning to their rooms at the early hours, this was not really the hotels fault, more the inconsiderate guests. The security guard was on site telling people to be quiet, however they did not seem to take much notice.
We never sat round the pool during the day, as we wanted to chill out, this would not have been possible, as it was full of intimidating loud people. It is their holiday as well, so we did not make a fuss and just went to the beach, which is really close by.
Rooms were very basic, but clean. Beds were not that uncomfortable. There was a door leading to the next apartment, but this was locked, and we did not have access to a key, so would assume that the next apartment didn't either. The balcony overlooked a bit of a tip at the rear of the hotel, but as we didn’t spend much time there, I would have sooner have had a room with no view rather than being kept awake at night with the bar noise.
If you are staying at this accommodation, you must understand before you go that it IS noisy and lively, but it’s not going to spoil your holiday.... just go out of the complex.
Not for families with children... definite NO NO.

| said: Having read some of the reviews on this site I was very dubious about going here, but was quite pleasantly suprised (after the intial shock of having to pay a 60 euro deposit). The rooms are quite old but clean and comfortable, our room being on the top floor at the back of the hotel(thank god as the noise must have been terrible for people near the front). The pool was tiny but perfectly adequate except for the 2wentys clientelle who thought it was perfectly acceptable to take over the whole pool for ball games with no respect for the families and sunbathers who got splashed/hit by their balls.
As for the location, i'm not sure we could have been closer to the resort centre, but to get out of the resort centre is a complete nightmare as the vulchers are circling and waiting for you i.e. PR people, restaurant workers, very pushy africans who want to braid your hair, sunglasses/ dodgy watch sellers e.t.c. In the end we decided to stick to the Yates, Wetherspoons and Linekars bars as it was much simpler.
We visited the water park which was good but if you go there you absolutely must see the dolphin show as it was amazing.
After about 4 days I wanted to go home, I felt very sorry for the older people and families there as it must have been torture!

i never saw a coackroach, spider or lizard in our apartment once,i was on the ground floor with a garden and still no insects.
The bar food was nice and not too pricey, the staff were excellent, and helpful, the security guards made everyone feel safer in the evening too,and made it possible to sleep. The entertainment was not brill, but after a few drinks everyone was up on the karoke, having fun even the kids that were there, were a ball.and i would definately stay in the hacienda again!

| said: When we arrived to the Hacienda it was mid night so we just crashed out, but the best bit was when we went to the rep meeting the next morning. We were surprised to find out that we were upgraded onto the club rep company Twenty's which is apart of First Choice (a bit like 18 to 30's). So that was a great bonus as we paid around EUR170.00 for 5 excursions, which included Bar Crawls, Booze Cruise, Decade Show and meal, School Disco and Foam Party. All of these included free alcohol! which was a great money saver. Food was cheap and cheerful no complaints. All in all it was buzzin! just a place to sleep, definatly designed for the younger crowds. Staff were kind and comical! reps were MAD! entertainment could of been better but i wouldn't of personally watched it anyway. If you go look out for the Twenty's reps Baby and Zain who are total nutters!

Swimming pool was clean and inviting with every sun lounger taken on a daily basis, which showed its popularity.
The bar was fun and the staff really looked after us, entertainment was ok shame karaoke girl can't sing in tune but this may have been a ploy to get people up singing!!!

| said: Hacienda del Sol – If you are part of the 18-30 crowds this is cheap, basic and noisy if however like us you are looking for a quick, quiet break forget it.
The new holidaymakers in our group were three families with young children and two mature couples. The First Choice Reps had a their work cut out to sell their quarter of drink-till-you-drop nights out that morning I can tell you. Alarm bells rang when the Reps kept on plugging the Pub-crawls; no one came for that and we all realised we had booked the wrong hotel. The Timeshare tout First Choice wheeled in at the end of the hello session offended us all.
Rooms are very basic and very uncomfortable. The bed is a wooden box, no slats, with a thin mattress on it. This has an industrial gauge plastic over-sheet on it; you guess why but the other holidaymakers we had with us did consume large amount of liquids. You cannot sleep on them no matter how exhausted you. Rooms 225 and 226 are 18 feet from the tin waste skips that are emptied at 3am every morning. That said the room was quiet clean and we only had one eight legged visitor the week we where there.
The battered TV offered some entertainment as the puddle described as a pool was very cold and often had lager-drinking Londoners swearing and groping the girls in and around it. All the families tended to give the pool a miss after their first taste.
The two resorts borders two resorts and being North Africa more than Europe you will be pestered by people selling any and everything. This is the way it is and all you have to do is politely say no and mean it. The only thing to be wary of are the Essex crowd giving you lottery tickets. They are a not what they seem, take one at your peril.
The ‘Tiede and the Tigers’ tour is brilliant and the ‘Freebird catamaran’ trip is well worth the money. The Blue Marlin restaurant and little Italy are very good but we loved the Slow Boat Chinese and especially the Peking Garden.
In summary if you are going for a drinking holiday it’s for you; you can’t break anything in the room and it is all wipe clean. However, if you have a family that you don’t want corrupted book somewhere else.

| said: We travelled with First Choice on an allocation on arrival basis. Never again.
We first went to Playa de las Americas about 20 yers ago and wanted to see if it had changed. We were shown to our room, and it was adequate and clean enough, but with the interesting feature of a door through into the next apartment.
The security safes in the room are a good idea and plenty big enough. But it turned out we were very near the bar and were kept awake until the small hours with karaoke so bad it was painful to listen to.
When we complained the next morning we were moved quickly and efficiently. Our new room was on the ground floor looking out onto a small garden. Some of the furniture had seen better days but the beds were adequate. From 1' o'clock in the morning when we would come in, until about 3 or 4 it was noisy, doors slamming, shouting, television, dustcarts, copulating cats etc.
But sound does carry in these sorts of apartment building and it was no worse than other apartments we have stayed in. U
nusually there seemed to be a problem with the cold water, it was sometimes difficult to get the shower to the right temperature.
On the plus side the maids came in most days, and the towels and beds were changed regularly.
We only ate at the restaurant twice, and the food was appetising and well cooked. In fact we did'nt have a poor meal durng the whole fortnight. We were self catering, the 3 nearby supermarkets had a reasonable range of goods but the fruit and veg was disgusting, I've got better stuff rotting on my compost heap!
The pool is small, but looked OK, we didn't spend any time there as we went out every day to Sky park and other places.
The whole resort seems to have a cockroach problem - we saw a number outside during the evenings, but only two, on the last night, in the apartment - one in the bathroom and one on a chest of drawers.
Personally I would not want to stay in a room which had been recently fumigated - if it's toxic to cockroaches, its probably toxic to humans. I thought the area where to hotel was situated was dirty and sleazy, but once you were out of it the resort was fine. We found the ticket touts irritating, they are little more than aggresive beggars, making you want to swat them like flies. All in all this hotel is fine for undiscerning 18-30's, but not for anyone else.

| said: I have just returned from Hacienda Apartments and was pleasantly surprised. the accommodation is basic and YES the beds(sofas) in the studio apartments are VERY uncomfortable but the apartment was very clean and the maid changed the towels, cleaned the bathroom and toilet(she even put stuff in the toilet to make it smell good.) and emptied the bins every day. the staff are very friendly and I was really impressed when we arrived as there was an English girl helping on reception. I am not sure if she was from First Choice but she was really friendly as were all the staff at the accommodation. Yes they were right about the security guard- you misbehave after midnight at your peril - 2 strikes and you are out. Having said that it makes you feel secure when you realize that he is watching everything and doesn't take any nonsense.
I didn't see a single cockroach but after watching them being eaten on Whos a Celebrity I think I could cope with one in the bath. The water pressure is a bit iffy and the hottest water was in the bidet- very hot(don't ask how I know). There were a couple of issues- our apartment was quite dark but that was due to bad internal lighting and also the fact that all the wood is very dark. I did not see the sun on our balcony no matter what time I was out there but that was because we were on the ground floor and there were several trees and bushes round the balcony - so beware if they allocate apartment 211.
We only ate in the restaurant once but the meal was lovely and the waiters very friendly.
We had a lovely holiday and the apartments are very central-right opposite Linekers/Wetherspoons.Yates and Brannigans. Murphys Bar is well worth a visit.
I would not visit again as we never stay twice in the same accomodation

| said: We arrived on 21 December 2005 for a 2 week holiday over the Christmas and New-year period. On arrival we were placed in smelly studio with 3 children 1 new born baby, that had to sleep in a pram because no cots were available.
The room smelt of urine and sick but because we were so tired we put up with it until the morning. Eventually we got the room we paid for but even that smelt of sewerage and was very dirty. In 2 weeks of being in the apartment our bedding was changed only once. We were the youngest family on the resort as we are in our 30s.
I found the staff very rude and unhelpful. Whilst sat at the bar one night I overheard a conversation with some people from Ireland that items had gone missing from their room. When we returned from a night out we also had been robbed of trainers and clothes. On reporting this matter nothing was done.
This was supposed to be a Christmas family holiday that cost 2500 pounds and turned into a holiday from hell.
I know everybody has their own opinion but please take mine, as I really don’t wont you to be as heartbroken as we and our children were. Please never ever stay here.

this time however we got hacienda del sol the first thing may partner did when we opened the door to the hotel room was cry, she didnt want to stay there no matter what the place was like something of life of grime and whats more all the rooms where conected with internal doors which did not have locks so you could easily walk from one room to the next with out anyone noticeing , everything as been said about this place it is the worst possible place to vist and should be levelled to make way for a better standered of hotel, infact to finally add it dosent even fit my catergory of what an hotel is.
advice (DONT GO THERE) if you are put there call BBC RADIO 1 in he uk live on air and tell them what a hole your tour operator as put you in and that your gonna sleep on the street.
P.S you can tell i had a bad experience fom this place.
